U16 Girls Youth Soccer

U16 young women players are not playing for fun, they are playing to win.

Best to step aside, because they are about to barrel through...

Why isn't World Class in Phoenix?

Anonymous said...

In ECNL the U15's HAVE to do 1 ECNL event and finals in Chicago. The club decided that there was no need to attend Phoenix, and chose to do CASL and Jeff Cup instead. Their ECNL event will be PDA. Next year they will travel more so no need to get on a plane again. Just a waste of the parents $.

Anonymous said...

ECNL PHX

MFA 1-2
PDA 1-1-1
PF 3-0

Looks like PF had the easier games?

Anonymous said...

Not sure about the easier game part. It was 3 west coast teams I'm not familiar with but all 3 games were decided by one goal.

Once again So Cal Blues dominate everyone. The So Cal 01 team also crushed the Penn Fusion 01 team 9-0.

Anonymous said...

Pda played every team that sits in first place in their own league basically

Match Fit played one team below 500, other 2 basically in last place

PF played teams right around 500

Anonymous said...

Looks like FC Stars went 0-3 , where competitive in all games. Lost 3-0 to top team in counrty

Anonymous said...

As previous poster said PF played average ECNL teams. PDA's games were much tougher.

Anonymous said...

Who cares about ECNL PHX. Money down the drain average kid from east coast to play out west is 1%.

Anonymous said...

9:59 am.

Take a look at the coach list, brain surgeon.

Anonymous said...

There were some top East Coast colleges in Phoenix. Majority were from middle of the country and out West though. ECNL NJ next month however is far more beneficial as it will be flooded with East Coast colleges. I'd prefer my money go towards NJ next month. Unless you're looking for the vacation.

Continental FC Delco looks like they are overhauling the club. Two great new hires. Club must be making a ton of money to hire the two new guys. Nova coach and Michigan Hawks guy.

Received an note re possible changes re college recruiting:

"A Possible First Step in Curbing Early Recruiting?

This week, the NCAA Division I Council will vote on proposed legislation that impacts just the sport of Lacrosse, but could be the first step to reforming recruiting in all sports.

If approved, the legislation will take effect August 1, 2017 and restrict all recruiting interaction between prospects and Division I lacrosse coaches to not sooner that September 1 of a prospect’s junior year of high school.

This proposed legislation affects both phone calls and on-campus visits:

Phone Calls: The proposal would not only prohibit Division I lacrosse coaches from placing phone calls to recruits prior to September 1 of the junior year (as is the case currently), but would also prohibit them from accepting calls from recruits or the recruit’s relatives or legal guardians prior to September of junior year.

On-Campus Visits: In addition, while lacrosse recruits and their families would still be able to visit a college campus at their own expense at any time they choose, Division I coaches and athletic department staff would be prohibited from having any interaction with recruits or families making an unofficial visit if the visit occurs prior to September 1 of the recruit’s junior year of high school. The provision of complimentary admissions to a campus athletic event during an unofficial visit will also be prohibited prior to September 1 of a recruit’s junior year.

Again, if this legislation is approved, it won’t take effect until August and only impacts the sport of lacrosse at the Division I level, but it will be interesting to see if it leads to changes for other sports in the future. "

And so it goes...

I've talked to many coaches who hate having to fight for 9th graders now so this would be a good rule to implement for soccer too

My wife was asking me last night, “any good games this weekend, you know, ECNL games?”

The woman is sharp, and hot!

Anonymous said...

Not sure what's going on at NYCFC DA, have sent multiple emails for additional info, and a big fat nothing from them. Considering how few quality girls were there for this age group, I would not be so choosey Kaz...

Anonymous said...

Happ Easter

Saw an mail was sent out from MF Doc last night that another trainer leaves. So sad, another good trainer is gone. Why can't the Doc keep these guys.

Anonymous said...

Which trainer? Initials is fine

Anonymous said...

8:49 word on the other blog is that callbacks happened and team had training.

Anonymous said...

8:49 Just got my email for a call back.

Anonymous said...

What I find interesting is that parents still send emails for their HS kids.

Anonymous said...

With tryout season approaching, I'm wondering if there are any teams/clubs that actually teach the game, or if they exist solely to take our money. I've seen the "top" teams play and they all play some variation of kick and run, which is basically rec or town travel with faster kids. It seems like throwing the word "academy" on the end of your club is just a marketing scheme. Rush, Match Fit, PDA, etc. where is the quality soccer being taught? I hear "this team is really good", I go to see them play and what I see on the field looks like hs gym class soccer if just the better athletes were playing. 15-16 years old and they still dribble head down, can't connect a simple 1-2 or string together more than 3 passes (at best).

Anonymous said...

12:02pm-What teams have you watched that look like HS Gym Class?

Anonymous said...

12:02, yes FC Barcelona does, perhaps your daughter should train with them.

Anonymous said...

And those are the kids going to play in college.

Because they want to be the star they want the ball and that's what most people see. No one cares that they can't connect a pass when they are breaking ankles and winning 50/50 balls. On defense if they are strong tough and can clear a ball is all that matters. These are good athletes that every coach thinks they can teach how to play because they believe they can. This is how soccer is played in the states I agree with 2:08

Anonymous said...

Yup
Just signed up my daughter with Barca femini. Will be awesome!

Anonymous said...

That person asks a reasonable question. I haven't seen any teams at any age group in NJ that play what he or she is looking for. You'd prob have 2 look in ca or tx. NJ soccer is all about size and speed not skill. Doubt it will ever change, clubs make money regardless of their product so no pressure to do anything different.

Anonymous said...

Dear Mr. Soccer,

I know this will be traumatic for you, but teams in TX and CA play the same way, speed, speed, speed....

Anonymous said...

I'm just curious to know who they are referring to specifically. I've seen a couple of 02 teams play a possession style game, playing out the back with short goal kicks etc.

Anonymous said...

Just curios too, which teams play that style, possession, no punts, and thought the midfield???

Anonymous said...

Based on my observations, there are several teams that can play both styles, all are ECNL teams.
Surprised?

Anonymous said...

I think you'll find it's more down to who the coach is, rather than who the club is. Some coaches want their players to play a short/mid range passing game, whereas others are more concerned with their defenders hitting the ball up the field as hard as possible at any opportunity to avoid any chance of conceding goals. Teams like NJ Wildcats, NJ Crush, Copa, Cherry Hill and PDA Dragons all play direct with no plans to control a ball and switch it out the back for fear of conceding. Those teams will win games but long term it's not the place for your daughter if they hope to develop and be seen by a College Coach. After watching the Dragons this weekend i didn't see them connect more than 5 passes yet somehow made the Final.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the update 1:51, did you walk on the forbidden grass?

Anonymous said...

Haha. Too afraid to do that!

Anonymous said...

surprised when I saw the #1 team in the world (or is it the universe) at Jeff cup how much they kick and not pass. It may be safe to kick ball out of pressure but kids aren't learning to play out of pressure. When "clear it" is first choice it's not good.

Anonymous said...

That's coaching or lack thereof.

Anonymous said...

Oh and isn't it galaxy now (GSP's ever expanding honors..lol)?

Anonymous said...

There are some R1 02 teams that build effectively out of the back and they aren't all ECNL teams. Also agree that it is determined by the coach and not necessarily the club.

Anonymous said...

Agree, better to send your daughter to Cedar Stars where they can learn to drin LOL.

Anonymous said...

Now that is funny!

Anonymous said...

Not familiar with the CSA drinking story, anyone have more details??

Anonymous said...

Its one coach - and not sure he is being retained at CSA. If he is, it affects the Monmouth teams only

Anonymous said...

I don't think that story's been verified. A lot of rumors here after Jeff Cup.
CNN certainly didn't run the story :)

Anonymous said...

The coach of 2001 Team was sent home in middle of Jefferson Cup. The team was provided another coach to finish event.

Anonymous said...

...yes but the reason was what? Was he truly partying with the girls?

Anonymous said...

Here's a question.
Any one on here ever have to fill out a coach evaluation?
Curious...do the clubs want to know how coach is doing or is it all about results? I've been hearing alot of player blaming but whatever happened to a coach being removed when the team doesn't do well?

Anonymous said...

5:53

If you are attending their tryout or thinking of doing so, make a call and find out

If not - it really doesnt concern you unless that coach comes to your club.

Anonymous said...

Thanks coach

Anonymous said...

Arsenal beat GFA 5-0 last night in state cup play.

Anonymous said...

Anyone from PA on here?
My daughter wants to tryout at pa classics and has registered. the coach is listed as "tbd". All we're told is it will be announced soon but tryouts start this weekend.
I'm a little leary of the existing coach after observing the team play so hoping it's not him
Anyone with inside scoop?

Anonymous said...

Thanks Arsenal dad

Anonymous said...

Uncalled for
Shouldn't call people arsenals on here

Anonymous said...

Word is there are almost 200 registered for tryouts at PAC for 01/02. Will they narrow this down after the 2 tryouts and have a 3rd invite only tryout for DA team? Almost have to.

Anonymous said...

@1:31 not Arsenal dad. Just curious about Arsenal. I have not seen them in any top brackets anywhere over last several years. Whether at Fort Dix, Tuckahoe, out of state. Are they that good? What is their story, were they part of a merger? I think my daughter played against them a few years ago indoors up state, but that is it.

Anonymous said...

11:49
You are absolutely correct. When I made my previous comment I was just stating the ways Tm tries to recruit players I never said he had integrity or good intentions with any of it . I personally have never approved of all his back door dealings .

Anonymous said...

Arsenal is a fast and scrappy team, and they play mostly direct. They have a solid GK, but they suffer from a short bench, would keep the ball moving, and very wide on them, they are a good team.

Anonymous said...

question for you all, whats the going rate for 2002 club soccer this year, and how is that to change for you next year? was quoted 2700 bucks , trainer fees a few times week for 28 weeks, six tournaments and coach's fees and hotels for the coaches, league entries, insurance, carding. Is that a lot or a little?

Anonymous said...

I think 2200 to 3000 is the going rate, more or less, but very dependent as you mentioned on tournaments. The showcase events are that bit more money often go three games over 3 days. Gets costly.

Anonymous said...

Not an Arsenal dad, probably just someone who has know GFA from before the merger still referring to them as GFA instead of princeton GFA are an good but not great squad with 3,4 next level kids.

CFC or PF pre-academy?

Anonymous said...

Assuming you're asking for advice....CFC for sure.
If pre-academy, which means PF, then that's just a way to get your money and keep you on the roll

Anonymous said...

Agreed unless you're talking pre-academy at classics
I think many underestimate this underdog

Anonymous said...

CFC

Anonymous said...

6:42 - seems like this guy/gal just got a daughter's player eval he/she didn't like.
12:09 - go to try outs at both and make your own determination. CFC doesn't have pre-academy.

That's why you need to do your own homework and not trust everyone on this board. Some info is useful and some just love to pretend to be informative.

Anonymous said...

Pretty sure he nows cfc doesn't have da judging by his question
His daughter obviously was offered spots at both

Anonymous said...

6:42 implied otherwise in his/her response. So was correcting that commentary.

Anonymous said...

PF pre-academy try-outs have not occurred.

Anonymous said...

....have not occurred for this age group and older. I believe pre-academy tryouts for PF for U10, U11, etc. may have taken place already.

Anonymous said...

Is this U10, U11 etc...blog?

Anonymous said...

if it includes tournaments, under $3000 is a fair price. My older child has been doing showcases and everything is more expensive. the tournament entry, time away from home, video services, and much more. an extra night of hotel, either myself or myself missing work an extra day. most clubs are more like 2000 to 2400 and then another add-on for tournies once the coach selects his list. I would not be persuaded by a few hundred either way, as the most important thing is the education they get and having some fun.

Anonymous said...

9:51am...this is u16 (01/02) pre-academy versus CFC 02' ECNL

Anonymous said...

Some good match-ups today:

MFA---BREAKERS
PDA---EMSC
WC---ALBY
CFC(P)---WNY FLASH
BUCKS---STARS OF MASS
PF---SCORPIONS
CFC(C)---FSA

Any predictions?

Anonymous said...

yes, I have a prediction, these are the best teams in this region, hands-down.

Anonymous said...

Really? You think so? With PDA and FC stars I definitely agree. Have you seen WNY, Bucks, CFC (Pa) play? Not even close to the best in the region. The rest are eh. Haven't seen CFC (CT) or FSA play yet since new birth year split so can't say either way with them.

Wildcats beat Arsenal 1-0 in NJYSA State Cup Quarterfinals.

Anonymous said...

cats are back

Anonymous said...

Sounds like arsenal gave them all they could handle. Was it close?

Anonymous said...

Really Cat dad! Your team is old news!

Anonymous said...

Yes, Arsenal is a very strong team.

Anonymous said...

Did you say Arsenal is really strong? Umm No they aren't

Anonymous said...

Just looked at Arsenal's results this year and they are good. They recently beat SJEB Grey Team.

Anonymous said...

Arsenal also tied CFC ECNL at Jefferson Cup and beat Lehigh Valley 3-0 in addition to beating SJEB Rush Grey 4-0 there.

Anonymous said...

Wildcats are strong, on to the next round! Semi-finals await!! Championship weekend! Spectators and haters be jealous!

Anonymous said...

Who are the other 3 semifinalists? Did both SJEB Teams Blue
and Grey Teams advance?

/

Anonymous said...

What will arsenal kids do next year? Small roster and mixed grades won't help keeping team together next year. NYSC or WCFC?

Anonymous said...

Lol Kitty Cat dads! PDA doesn't chase points or dumb state Cup! You are a second tier team!

Anonymous said...

Arsenal also gave world class encl all they could handle in Jeff cup final. Losing 1-0. As they say. Any given Sunday

Anonymous said...

PF 02' tiled Stars 1-1

Anonymous said...

So funny how teams always have that one player and parent that think they are above the team. And they also think they are fooling everyone while playing different cards. Excuse after excuse.
You know who you are. Funny part is you and your daughter are a blip on the radar. Good luck at PAC DA you will need it.

Anonymous said...

Scoreboard says 2-0 at Jeff Cup final, so using modern math, WCFC beat Arsenal twice as bad??

Anonymous said...

@10:28
What poster are yoiu referring to?

Anonymous said...

Daughter couldn't make first tryout last night...how was turnout at classics? New "tbd" coach around yet?

Anonymous said...

He was there

Anonymous said...

6:37 my thoughts exactly! Lol

Anonymous said...

7:41
Thank you. And his name is....??? :)
How were turnout numbers?

Anonymous said...

I heard from an Arsenal parent about the WC vs Arsenal game at Jeff Cup as she was driving back from VA. She told me that Arsenal was no match for WC. She also said the goalie for Arsenal kept the score low and that it would have been a lot worse if she had not been there. Not sure if that's true, but I have seen Arsenal play, and I can't imagine they would be able to compete with a team that is well rounded. They are a fast team that can punish you if your defense makes mistakes, but the better teams will beat them every time

Anonymous said...

I heard same.

I believe the young lady on National team was not at Jeff Cup.

Anonymous said...

Haha ha ha ha bahaha

Anonymous said...

You do realize that most of the Arsenal team is made up of 2003 players. Not bad for playing one year up.

Anonymous said...

you do realize, that if a parents have some 2003s playing on a 2002 team then they are not doing what is right for the players. This is an 2002 team for a reason, move the players to the appropriate age group

Anonymous said...

Maybe it is time they started playing with girls their own age then? Obviously the mixed age thing is not working for them.

Anonymous said...

One thing I have learned is that any given Sunday is a great point. Anything I am sure could have gone wrong in a 1-0 win or loss.

Anonymous said...

The WC game was 2-0 and should have been 6-0. Give credit where it's due the goalie on that team should look to go DA. I'm sure some team would love to have her

Anonymous said...

Is Arsenal merging with stallions? I think they have lost 1/3 of their team last few weeks.

Anonymous said...

Hard to say you should have won when you were shut out though.

Anonymous said...

Obviously all this chatter about arsenal puts them on the map. Give credit where credit is due. Girls compete with the best of them. Wcfc is a good squad. I don't know about a 6-0 verdict. That seems to be like a tall tale on a spring day on lake catching shark instead of trout

Anonymous said...

Are you talking about this team?

ARSENAL PREMIER FC MAXIMUS RED

Anonymous said...

Not sure what Arsenal parent is coming on this blog and saying our team is great. You know very well our Team is falling apart fast. I'm not sure we will make it to the end of the year. I believe we have all reached our breaking point and are now looking for other options.

Anonymous said...

Do what you feel is best for your daughter. But remember each parent chooses diffeently....

Anonymous said...

Maybe Arsenal players end up at Crush-Cedar-Bergen. They could probably use 2-3 more near elite talents for their top team.

Anonymous said...

@ 2:55 and @ 3:00

What age are your kids? Once they hit HS the age group designation is meaningless. Either you can play soccer with the big dogs or you can't.

If little Suzie gets picked for Varsity will you make her play Freshman just because they are all the same age?

Anonymous said...

My guess is 02 player parents worried little Suzie will lose her spot to 03 player

Anonymous said...

Arsenal don't listen to this crap. PDA parent accusing teams of entering state cup of doing it only to "chase points" is ridiculous.First of all the PDA NPL Teams entered state cup, only Storm the ECNL team did not enter, so are all your own PDA Club's teams "chasing points".
Competing in your state cup tournament for a state title and if you win a chance to compete in Regionals and/or Nationals, experiencing competing vs teams from across the country, travelling to distant locales with your teammates(among whom are often one or more of your best friends), and in front of your parents and families is a singular experience that will make memories that will last a lifetime for your player and your family. It's sad that the PDA parent has bought into this whole youth soccer experience as a zero sum game, only about business and getting into college, with no regard for the journey or the importance of actually enjoying this experience along with their families. I guess if your daughter gets seriously injured and can't play in college(or loses a step and can't play at the high level of college soccer you had expected) or decides she no longer has the passion, etc. you will have to consider this whole youth soccer experience as having been a waste of your time and money.
This time with your daughter will pass quickly and she will soon be done with soccer and on with her real life. It's sad that you don't have the wisdom to understand until that day comes.

Anonymous said...

"zero sum game"
Love it
Play on words or typo?
PDA are a bunch of arrogant sobs and everyone knows it

Anonymous said...

No just a figure of speech that seems to be an accurate description of the attitude of the poster above and other ecnl parents towards their daughters youth soccer experience. Kind of like the way horse owners think of their entries in the upcoming Kentucky Derby

Anonymous said...

Agree they seem to beleive those of us whose play on NPL Teams are wasting their time playing youth soccer. In the meantime are players are drawing interest from schools attending id camps and fielding offers already.

Anonymous said...

12:35pm

High school are we really talking about High School. High School. (Allen Iverson....)

Please.... if you are at a great club the players will be playing age appropriate otherwise you are playing for a recreational team.

Anonymous said...

@ 2:47

So why is DA multi year program? Shouldn't they just have a team for every age then?

Should WNT be 18 and over?

Good grief good soccer is good soccer. Who cares what date is on the birth certificate?

Anonymous said...

2:06 who is fielding offers from where? Check Top Drawer and see how many 02's are committed nationally right now it's not that many maybe 30. Also, I don't see PDA North NPL in state Cup so avoid a blanket statement. As far as point chasing, look at your so called top ranked got soccer teams in NJ. Most couldn't hold the cleats of the PDA teams. If your like Copa making the parents travel all over the east coast going to tournaments to make it look like your teams are good then enjoy! It's unfortunate that little Susie can't make PDA so you can be in the cool kids club! So you do what everyone else does and just bash the top club in NJ. PDA's college showcase is the biggest on the east coast and probably top 5 nationally to attend. So sorry your clubs/teams weren't invited to be seen by all the top coaches from around the country. Enjoy the juice boxes and fruit snacks and move on!

Anonymous said...

Not committed yes but drawing plenty of interest and offers from exposure at Disney and Jefferson Cup. And wrong again our team is better than all the PDA Teams other than ECNL Storm. If you play for Dragons(the only NPL Team from PDA not entered in any of the state cups) then ask yourself why your team is not entered in state cup and has no chance to advance to regionals or nationanls since your child will not be seen at ECNL events. How does that make sense for your Dragons girls? And yes our team was accepted at PDA Tournament and last month at Jefferson Cup we were flighted higher than your Dragons, Ajax or Shore Teams so wrong on all counts. And no one bashed PDA, just commented on ECNL parents seeming to knock teams participating in state cup as doing it to chase points(like there is no other reason to compete in state cups). Or was that a Dragon parent knocking teams entering state cups as point chasers because your childs team is being kept home .

Anonymous said...

Does anyone actually think all those who spew negatively up here have any impact whatsoever on the happenings of soccer for these teams, that you're convincing or persuading anyone? Its just negativity spewing that, unless you are a sick person, can not be something you truly enjoy. Actually, some people do enjoy throwing tomatoes at others for no good reason, all from behind curtain, chuckling like a bunch of school kids. Have you ever thought at the dishonor you bring your kids with all that negative attacking, and how you ruin the good charma that every kid would love to have? All to influence nothing. WC hate, PDA hate, CSA Hate, Arsenal Hate, Copa Hate... you would get the impression that some folks on here at the most miserable persons on the planet.

here's an idea...try it, see how makes you feel. rather than bash someone, how about congratulate someone. say something nice, and supportive. Drama at Copa, wish them well and make a parent feel better, not worse. Someone loses a tough 1-0 game, how about some congratulations offered. It will make you feel good inside, and maybe it brings good luck to your daughter when she could use some good luck.

I'm no bleeding heart sap, but sometimes i just don't know how some folks get in bed at night being so ruthlessly negative. WHile others might not know who you are, you do. Try being nice. You'll enjoy.

Anonymous said...

Alright, you win, I will try to improve my charma.

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=charma

Anonymous said...

Good choice 4:49. You have made a fool of yourself quite enough with your negative and incorrect bashing.

Anonymous said...

I bet if you ask the ECNL players they would love to play for for a state cup. It's a state championship. They don't care about points or any of that crap, that's the parents. I don't know a single girl who wouldn't want the chance to prove she plays for the best team in the state.

Anonymous said...

Kids that have been playing ECNL for years don't even know what a state cup is and they don't care.

Anonymous said...

Yes they do and they know their team is better than the state champs. What they don't know is why they can't have a chance to prove it.

Anonymous said...

Not Real state champs if some of the best teams aren't playing people! Hollow state championship enjoy it!

Anonymous said...

5:06 is a Kitty Cat dad here they come! They one a game in the state cup and out of the litter box they come! You played non ECNL teams in Jeff cup and got your tails chopped off! Lets see how you do in May meowww!

Anonymous said...

Ecnl kids want to win their nationals. They know they are one of the top in state and dont need to prove it.

Anonymous said...

Truth is Wildcats played ECNL teams(Albertson and FC Virginia) in Jefferson Cup.How did PDA Dragons do in the 9th flight at Jefferson Cup?

Anonymous said...

I hope your daughters don't pick up the arrogance that I see on display in this blog everyday

Anonymous said...

Wait, is this the same Kitty Cat team that lost to Berna 4-0?

Anonymous said...

8:03, that doesn't count, we weren't ready...

Anonymous said...

That's because Kitty cat team probably tried to play like a normal soccer team against Berna and got torn apart. Instead of sitting back, packing everyone in their own box, smashing the ball clear at any opportunity and counter attacking through their one good player like they've been doing in their recent games to forge out wins. Pathetic

Anonymous said...

Not "hollow" to the girls that won. You can only play the teams on your schedule and they beat them all. And don't give me "focused on ECNL nationals" as an excuse. Very few teams have any realistic chance of that. But both state cups provide a platform to win a national championship as well if that's what's important to you.

Anonymous said...

What I find comical is the same people that say the High School ball is so important to a girl, are the same people who poo poo state cup.....

Anonymous said...

9:07 so true.

ECNL parents will cry that GDA doesn't allow HS soccer

and then

ECNL parents will call state cups hollow if their teams are not in them

That my friend is classic.

Anonymous said...

The comment - "As far as point chasing, look at your so called top ranked got soccer teams in NJ. Most couldn't hold the cleats of the PDA teams."

The top 2 GS teams in NJ both at the PDA College Showcase, so they can't hold PDA's cleats but they get to play at their event with all those college coaches attending. Some doesn't add up. Is GS fake news or not?

Here we go, Match Fit sending out emails saying you have a spot for next year. Promise you to be on ECNL to only have 30 players on a team, only to be playing on NPL team. How about being up front this year!

Anonymous said...

If you're being straight up, copy and paste email to ECNL and report them
Of course you have to wait to be screwed first....

Anonymous said...

12:05-MF will never change. Same with PDA telling players they offer NPL spots to that "give us a year of developing you on the NPL team and you'll make ECNL next year". How often have you heard of a PDA NPL player being promoted to ECNL after a year?? More fool the parents for believing these organizations who consistently preach the same message but never follow up or move the goalposts once the commitment letters are in.

Anonymous said...

True. Know a parent on PDA NPL Team who has been believing since U9 their kid will be on ECNL Team some day. Meantime their team is just a paycheck for PDA. Their NPL team is treated like poor stepchild, budget kept on short string in spite of paying full dues, only entered in 2 tournaments this whole year at U15(Jeff Cup and their own PDA tournament), now not entered in either state cup so any chance at showcasing players at Regionals or Nationals out, not part of ECNL so those events do not include NPL Teams players so clubs ECNL designation does NPL players absolutely no good. Same of course with clubs DA designation(or is it Sky Blue who is DA?).
Those NPL Teams not being allowed to enter Disney, CASL Shootout, etc. is really shortchanging those players chance at being seen. Basically 2 events all year to showcase themselves. Many players are initially identified as sophomores in those winter showcases and then a follow up evaluation is done at Jeff Cup and PDA in the spring of sophomore year.

Anonymous said...

Spot on. Expect spin and personal attacks to deflect attention from your points.

Boy those PDA Mom’s sure do like wearing their PDA sweatshirts at games, as if someone knows what that means. Just enjoy your time together, enjoy the quiet moments.

4:12 So you don't support your kid's club/team?

Anonymous said...

4:18, I support my kids team/club, but I don’t walk around like a automated advertisement, flashing the letters P.....D....A to anyone and everyone who looks my way. Some of these PDA parents are like school in summer, no class.

Anonymous said...

I am sure there were many college coaches at MSC and EDP Easter Showcase. Comment was not meant for Ajax they attend many events and are a strong competititve side.

Anonymous said...

Very few coaches at edp easter showcase or msc event . Go to casl or disney to be showcased in winter.

At PDA, ECNL teams pay more than NPL

Anonymous said...

@ 3:49

My daughters PDA team only did one tournament which was the PDA tournament and they ended up playing a PDA team they can scrimmage any time they want to.

So full dues for one tournament (team didn't need to pay for) and they played a team they scrimmage on a consistent basis.

Couple more games and will finally have the wife off the PDA money train. Wohoo!!

Anonymous said...

Does PDA publish anywhere there college commitments? Current and Past.

Anonymous said...

Isn't that part of the paperwork at all the PDA try-outs? I figured it was etched in a monument somewhere on the playing fields. lol

Anonymous said...

@ 12:21

They could always just put down Rutgers. As close to reality as the rest of it.

PDA also charged U-11 full side fee even though those teams played short sided this year. Wonder how other clubs handled that transition? Less cost short sided so lets just keep the full fee because that's what our fee schedule was last year?

Anonymous said...

@ 3:49 What team?

Anonymous said...

That's crazy. You should ask for a refund. And then go to MF. :)

Anonymous said...

Sorry 10:38. Have to call bull$hit on that one. Can't believe that one.

Anonymous said...

PDA, other club commits:

www.topdrawersoccer.com/commitments/club/women/2017

Anonymous said...

73 New Jersey commits for 2017. 30 from PDA.

Go to topdrawer.com commitments, women - search by state (sorry - cant link at this time)

One 5 star recruit, 1 4 star and EIGHT 3-star from NJ for 2017.

Anonymous said...

From the "it's all about school FIT" department -

Interesting to see that of the 8 3-star players from NJ, one is going D3, one D2 and one IVY.

Anonymous said...

@ 3:27

Post up your email and I'll send your their season schedule.

Call BS all you want reality at PDA is what is posted here. Peddling Sky Blue emails now.

You can look up the PDA U-11 game schedule from their tournament and figure it out also based on what was posted.

9:27 - TDS has zero reliability. As far as the "stars", some have them as earned when they were younger. I see a few on the list that get very little playing time anymore. Unlike years ago, there is no continuing validation of their scoring scale which devalues it.
But, there are some well deserved "star" players.

Anonymous said...

9:32 - what do you mean by peddling Sky Blue e-mails?

Anonymous said...

Top Drawer isn't remotely accurate. FC Copa had about 18 players commit to D1-2-3 schools for 2017, STA had 24, MF had 17, Nj Crush had about 12. Not a good website to judge the amount of players who committed to schools.

Anonymous said...

Some great games this weekend, particularly MF vs WC, should be a real memorable affair.

Anonymous said...

Top Drawer is ACCURATE - just not inclusive

But they don't just pick and choose - they ASK YOU as a coach/parent to send them info if your player - son/daughter, etc - has been selected to play at a school and is not on the list

Obviously the players NOT in the 73 listed out of NJ have chosen to NOT report it to Top Drawer, for whatever reason

Anonymous said...

Top Drawer is an ECNL site. And it is a paid, members only site you have to sign up for a membership to get on that site and to communicate with them. No coaches outside of ECNL are paying for their website. many of our NPL players have committed and none are listed on top Drawer list of commits.

Anonymous said...

For TDS the commit list is built by submission, if you want to be listed usually the parent posts it, just like they would to FB and any other Social Media site. The stars associated with players come for events sponsored by TDS so yes to some extent it is ECNL friendly, also attending the TDS combines come into play as well. I have seen from 2 players on my daughters ECNL team that attending a TDS combine added a star to their profile (they each already had 2 stars) by attending the TDS combine you automatically get access to all of the TDS website where you can post stats, articles and information about you daughter. It is a recruiting website that brags about how many college coaches use it as a source for scouting. Another monetization of youth soccer. Personally, my daughter has 2 stars, never went to a combine and we do not subscribe to TDS, I did sign-on for the free access which only allows you to add your player and make profile updates. We wll not be posting any commitment info.

I just perused PF website and they are listing teams as DA, Pre Academy and United for tryouts/leveling?? Is ECNL gone from PF??

Looks like DA is invite only.

Anonymous said...

It has been announced a while ago that clubs that are picked for DA must relinquish ECNL status. No club can be both. US Soccer is attempting to take over all top tier players and eliminate ECNL as competition for DA.

Anonymous said...

False PDA is keeping ECNL.

Anonymous said...

Yes that is false. Surf blues solar eclipse all the top clubs in the country allowed to be both da ecnl. PF not strong enough.

Anonymous said...

5:29 - correct. PDA is keeping ECNL, but their GDA is not PDA. It's Sky Blue. Symantics, sure, but that is how some teams are getting around it.

Anonymous said...

USSF is trying to destroy ECNL, but it will not work. US Club is in survival mode, and for 98% of female players, college is their final destination, not a meaningless WC qualifier in some God-forsaken Banana Republic : (

Anonymous said...

It is clear
US Socer will not allow Clubs to be both in long run, and end run of having another club host your ECNL or DA to hide that fact will not fly for long. Yes, US Soccer is going to destroy ECNL and they will have control of elite players and the big money being made as well. Those two factors are what this whole change has been about, including birth year change, DA, etc.

Anonymous said...

No, they won’t moron. ECNL is here to stay, stop dreaming the impossible dream*

* key music....

MF lost 1-0. MF did not look good. Should have been worse

Anonymous said...

How competitive was PDA Ajax vs TSF game. Saw score was 2-1.

Anonymous said...

TSF has improved this year.

Anonymous said...

That's got to hurt that MF lost to old coach.

Anonymous said...

6:58. Thats pretty pathetic that you are bragging about a game that was won on questionable calls. Your team not very good. Very underwhelming.

Anonymous said...

Funny those were MF home town refs. Do they dislike MF too? Face it the score would have been a lot worse for MF if the refs didn't help them

Anonymous said...

MF making excuses again. Here is comes

Anonymous said...

No excuses we lost. I personally would never brag about a lucky 1-0 win though. I thought you had 2 very nice players the nt girl and the center back. Good luck this season.

Anonymous said...

MF Parent..listen we lost. We were outplayed, we did not mustard any shots on goal. Stop embarrassing us. Yes score in my opinion could have been at least 2-0. Our girls did battle and played hard. Had 5-6 on World Class that were very good

Anonymous said...

There was an ugly scene yesterday in the MF/WC game, concerning the coaches. Let's just say that the bigger one called-out the smaller one toward the end of the game. However, that was no where near how ugly the actual game was, #uglysoccer101

Anonymous said...

The center referee had to speak MF coaches several times during the game. Wish I was on that sidelines to hear what they were saying to have center referee stop game

Anonymous said...

JE is such a class act wishing the best for all players and parents. His leaving MF was the right thing and now it is proven on the pitch.

Anonymous said...

We all know JE posts here, so it's hard to sort out what is truth and not. BTW, both sides should just let it go. I know very bad blood as both sides feel they were done wrong.

Anonymous said...

Not sure how you say the WC coach has class... Unless you are combining the words "CL"ueless and "Ass" hole.

Anonymous said...

Why do these clubs still have parent managers ? We pay all this money and the coaches are too lazy to do the work on their own. It makes for such a favoritism problem. I get it at the rec level but not ECNL. Goes right to the players head.

Anonymous said...

I agree; most times results in favoritism. It should be an asst coach or someone in a club administration capacity. Like maybe someone hired by the club to be the manager of all the teams.

Anonymous said...

What does the parent manager do other than make sure teamsnap info is updated and hotels are picked? I know ours has no other roles.

Anonymous said...

Please share with us which club allows their team manager to have preferential treatment. That certainly doesn't sound like the ECNL team my daughter plays at.

Anonymous said...

What happened at the WC match that there is such bad blood, and that you're calling the coach such bad things?

Anonymous said...

at the NYCFC tryout, one of the coaches suggested to my husband that the rules committee was contemplating allowing the girls to play high school. has anyone heard that they may be waffling on that stance. i know a lot of top quality girls who hold that out as one of the main complaints against the new league.

Anonymous said...

Old news, coach left MF with players. Parents that stayed at Mf are on here bashing him at every opportunity provided. First time teams faced each other this year so parents from both teams posting to make themselves feel better about decision to stay or leave basically.
