go read the 2003 blog, and stop defending the MatchUnfit garbagola!! They are an embarrassment to good programs everywhere. We were there, tested the waters, its a joke. #DONTLOOKBACKADIOS
I actually wish I had read some of these complaints about MF before I invested a year of my daughter's life. I just heard that they benched kids who are leaving their program in another age group. Well MF, I will lead you on until the last game. No way are you getting another penny from me. Sorry if this affects your kid, but I'm looking out for my daughter this year
I'm with you. Wish I knew as well. Supposedly there's the Europe trip coming up which parents paid for earlier in the year Of course you can't back out now as it will drive the costs up for the coaches. The poor girls getting shoved aside now have to endure this trip. Talk about adding insult to injury
@357 Stop hating. That's nonsense. It's Obvious that you are envious. Not a Rush Blue parent, but credit where due-- Congrats. Not easy to get through all of that, and come out on top consistently.
9:15 not hating but call it what it is. Kick the ball as far as possible forward whenever receiving the ball. You can't call that good soccer, you just can't. Unfortunately many college programs play the same so there is a future there.
Don't be ignorant. There's high level teams in state Cup who do not play kick ball. Sure the best have to weed through some weak teams to get to the end but then they move on to Regionals. Regionals is where it gets truly good and of coarse nationals. Obviously your kid plays ECNL. ECNL doesn't automatically mean great. There are great, mediocre and awful ECNL teams just like with non ECNL.
Yes 6:50/9:11, and we all know who those teams are in the Northeast Division. However, one thing that always eludes some parents is, if your daughter plays ECNL, she is playing against the best-of-the-best, and that in itself, is worth more than most realize. Good luck to SJEB at regionals, and enjoy the ride!
Not quite right 10:19. If your daughter plays REGULARLY for an ECNL Team than she is playing some of her ECNL Games vs the best teams, but for the majority of those rosters of 22 plus(all but top 8-10 players) it is MAYBE she will dress for those toughest Teams and maybe not, and IF your daughter is lucky enough to get on the field at all in the games vs the few top level ECNL Teams in our league then she will have a very short leash indeed. When she does get in she is nervous and looking over her shoulder(figuratively) if she makes a mistake waiting for "the hook".
Quite right 10:51, and why should a strong player who is looking to play college soccer subject herself to that stress and anxiety unnecessarily. Play on a team where you will start every game and get good time and play relaxed and confident and not have your head messed with. There are plenty of teams who can give you that and get you showcased for college at the showcase tournaments and events. No need to play ECNL for that, especially with DA coming in ECNL wioll no longer have most of the top players anyway. Most ECNL starters will just move up to DA and those clubs will fill the raided ECNL rosters with their NPL players. And the ECNL Clubs certainly do not have the top NPL Teams so what is the point? The new ECNL Teams will not be any different than NPL. They are just desperately trying to hold on to the $$$ they have been reeling in with those bloated rosters from parents willing to pay to have their kids sit.
10:51 AM Agree wholeheartedly with your comments. from someone whose daughter was pulled and never given another chance, but you need to expand the reasons for being hooked are off the field deals as well. My daughter was a top five player one year and based on deals and $$ became expendable the next year. Then there were girls in 6-10 who faced the scenario you spell out, looking over there shoulder when they misstep, shoot wide or shank a corner. Not only in games but practices as well. And most coaches don't "coach-em-up" at practice, they watch see the misstep/shank and set the roster without explaining why. ECNL is not a development league it is College prep. The coaches need to realize their job is to get them to the next level, not coach it like they are already there.
And the ECNL coaches at those big clubs do little to get any but the very top players hooked up with college coaches. There are no meetings with parents to find lists of schools they see as good fits and certainly the coaches do not take the time to call college coaches for these bubble girls. It is truly only a program for the best of the best. Everyone else is just a warm body to be replaced or discarded as soon as another option comes along.
11:16 What high level soccer isn't college prep? Everyone is bought in to GDA, ECNL, Etc. It's all a business bottom line, we as parents are blind sided by the fact of following the upper echelon of people. Half are not even from this country coaching club soccer. If your coach is respected, is great at developing, has multiple connections in the collegiate market you will get the same results to play college.
Why do you think Top 25 schools recruit early and have such early verbal's it's a coach's lively hood and job to bring talent into there college program and WIN, WIN, WIN! Then the 8-12 recruits that come in each freshman year transfer or stop playing college. Go ahead and ask you daughter if they don't mind sitting 2-3 years in college after sitting several years playing club on a GDA or ECNL team because they are not ranked in the top 11 of those selected.
Congrats to Cats and Rush for winning NJ State Cups it's an enjoyable ride they will never forget compared to those chasing the GDA project. Yes I called it a project!
So true. My daughter has played on both and gone thru the bs, having her head messed up by the politics and anxiety of not always rostering or getting much playing time at ECNL and now she plays on a top NPL Team. She is one of the top players on the team and plays regularly each game, is happy as a clam with her team, coach and teammates, has attended the top college chowcase tournament this year and showed very well, and now from that recent exposure she is already as a 2020 graduate fielding serious interest from severa; D1 Programs, attending ID Camps, making unofficial visits after being invited through her club coach (who has many, many college contacts and relationships with college coaches), and sharpening up her list of schools that are a good fit for her for college.
1239 Well written and I'm sure your daughter is enjoying soccer more often than before. Even if she does get passed up for D1 Program there are plenty of respectable D2 / D3 schools with good academic backing that will help her in the future. Not every girl inspires to be a professional NWSL player making less than 20g a year.
3:37 Yes. That is a true statement. You have to know the right people. Ask some parents who play on top teams if their kids are being tracked, sometimes since 8th grade and playing up at 02 possibly to get that look. I can explain to you further if needed. But yes this is happening. Then by March or April of sophomore year, U16 verbally committed. All the time btw. I know several players on several teams this is happening to.
This last poster must be in lower level. Yes u16 verbally committed to D 1. Not u15. But u15 are tracked and communication through coaches. And they are npl.
610 I didn't say committed yet as freshman. I said drawing serious interest and invites for unofficial visits and also has attended ID camps at those schools who have expressed interest. Our coach has shown us emails from multiple college coaches he has received after coaches wjo have attended our games at showcases saying they are very interested. And yes from top notch academic schools with strong D1 programs. If this isn't happening for your teams freshmen at all then your club coach is not helping your teams players and I would go to him and ask if he has received any contact from coaches about your player. You have to be proactive in this process don't sit back and wait for it to come to you or it will pass you by.
9:23 I won't say it's impossible just not likely that a U15 NPL player is getting unsolicited looks from a top D1 program. I doubt Penn State, Virginia, Maryland, or other soccer school is sending someone to find a diamond at a u15 NPL game. You may have joined the illustrious Top Soccer or NPL Mailing list where you are receiving the bulk invites to camps (not ID Clinics). Unless your daughter has been "well known" in soccer circles for NT pools, training and camps the only radar she is on is the cash radar. Girls on my older daughter's ECNL team who had a couple ODP invites and made it to some camps had coaches reaching out as far as interest maybe end of spring freshman year, but these girls had traveled internationally with the ODP program. So far as Juniors only one has committed to her #1 choice which is not a soccer powerhouse but the school she wanted to attend. I believe the other two have not received the continued attention and are still looking for spots.
If those D1 schools are the only ones girls can shoot for then everyone is screwed!!!! How many players do you think they add every year? I love the elitist attitude that is implied.
at 8:44 AM Was going with the semi-local schools that have a name, Temple, Drexel and other D1's in the area not withstanding. Villanova may have spots, St. Joes is a direct line from FC Bucks for local talent. Unless you play for PDA Rutgers is a stretch. And you could be a u15 @ PDA and be on Rutgers radar. My opinion is you have to seek to be seen. If @ u15 a girl (or more likely her parents) want to boast about teams looking at her puts pressure on sealing the deal. As I have seen with my older daughter's team mates, attending D1 camps Freshman year to say they went and now as Juniors scrambling for a D1 spot when most colleges are done with 2018 recruiting. Yes D1 schools will be showing interest in U15's, if you are the next Pugh or Lavelle.
Club coaches who call their contacts among college coaches to whom they have sent players to in the past carry enough weight to get an assistant out to watch the player. If they think your player is a fit for a school your interested in attending than your club coach should be willing to reach out for you.
If your daughter is D-I quality it is most important to have her with a good coach, but more importantly a coach that has good D-I connections and a history of players moving on to play D-I. Having a club coach that is good with recruiting will reduce your anxiety level big time! All club coaches will tell you they can assist in the process but take a hard look at their track record.
IF they are told by a club coach who they know and have had dealings with in recruiting previously that there is a PLAYER ON THAT TEAM THAT CAN PLAY FOR THEM THE COLLEGE COACH WILL SEND AN ASSISTANT TO CHECK THE PLAYER OUT IF THEY ARE PLAYING IN A COMPETITIVE FLIGHT AT DISNEY/CASL/JEFF CUP/PDA/LAS VEGAS PLAYERS CUP/ETC.
That is accurate as the D1 Schools all have at least an assistant at all of those big showcases anyway so it's not an extra trip. Also if you make the finals at events like Disney many coaches show up and you may impress a coach or assistant who is there to watch someone on the other team. This is also true in bracket games especially if you are playing in one of 2 top flights and matching up vs ECNL or top NPL Teams from National League.
All scouting scenarios are plausible. for all parties involved it is a mixture of preparation, skill and luck. For players who show high soccer aptitude working hard, being on the right team and attending the right showcases get you more looks. The higher level your team plays and the better the results the higher interest. Getting a look from a coach unintentionally is possible if you are playing high level soccer. Up until the past year having played in meaningful USNT events, PDP or ID2 also got you looks. So being a committed player by the end of this season (June 2017) is a good thing, being an uncommitted 2018-2020 will be an interesting endeavor once DA starts. I still believe the college coaches that are attending the ECNL playoffs this year will be there next year as well. They just may be more selective of league games and showcases.
I get invites to camps ALL the time. I literally have received a couple hundred in the past year. To me these just appear to be part of a mass distribution from shared or purchased lists. I wish there was a way to easily identify if it truly was from a school that was interested and not just a money grab to attend the camp. I assume the college coach would go through the club coach and the player would be told if that is the case, correct? I have had that occur just a couple of times.
This issue has come up often on the blog. There are mass mailings of camp invites, if your daughter is interested in the school (at this age) and it is not across the country now would be the time to attend and get on the coaches radar. At U15 (I have an older daughter as well), we went to camps in the area that were schools on her list and ours $$ wise. She made sure that she introduced herself and said thank you and shook hands with coaches after, followed up with an email. Rule of thumb is that if there are more then 30-40 participants it's a money grab with identified girls mixed in. If after the camp and email follow-up your daughter receives any additional information you should invite the coach to a tournament and see if they show. If they show they are interested, if not cross them off the list and move on.
Yes the ID Camp or unofficial visit invite if serious will go through the club coach. the players from our club that I mentioned are drawing interest from schools were invited through our coach by the college assistant coach who had seen her play and expressed interest.
My daughters team will be playing at the PDA Showcase. Interested in seeing how it differs from say Jeff Cup or Disney. Hearing lots of back channel chatter about how PDA is an unique showcase compared to others. Can't complain about the colleges attending. From UCLA to Duke, all the big "soccer" schools will be represented. Should be fun!
@ 408 keep smoking that pipe, you made us all laugh when you mentioned UCLA. Go look at the current roster at UCLA or many of the power schools out west you rarely see a NJ player or even north east regional player on a roster.
4:08 Be Careful you're narrowing down the non-ECNL team you are from by identifying the showcases you have attended and with the small acceptance list at PDA showcase. There are only a select few teams from the NJ,NY area that have attended Disney, Jeff, and accepted to PDA showcase.
Who cares where 4:08 is from, as long as he isn’t impeding a criminal investigation, or revealing Top secret information to our mortal enemies. So I am cool.
5:39 - there are west coast teams playing at PDA as well. Never know who they may spot when doing the evalu for other players being tracked. This tourney is no joke. Coaches all over the place. Just hope it's not 90+ and humid.
@5:39.... when your done looking for your Birkenstocks in your hemp purse or as you call it a man bag, look up what colleges are attending and what teams. Nationwide attendance! Hopefully your Prius won't break down on your way to FC Deco on Memorial Day weekend since your daughters team was not accepted to the PDA Showcase.
These next 12 months will be the most important of their youth soccer career and will hopefully open doors to the opportunities they will have for the rest of their lives well beyond just soccer.
At this age group U15 scouts that come are targeting specific players on there radar already seen through ID events like NTC, PDP, ID2, ODP Region team, etc. Scouts are not coming sit at a game for 80 minutes hoping to find a special player. That's what they will do at U17 and above after a targeted player they originally wanted committed to another school.
So yes there will be scouts at games at the PDA Showcase but ultimately if your coach has not communicated with you that a specific school is interested in your daughter and will be coming out to watch please don't get your hopes up. The rest will be added to a mass email system for camps and ID clinics.
As for those PA girls DA squads not attending I'm sure you'll get your fair share of scouts anyway in the near future playing in Girls DA. So different paths same results.
Not PDA Arrogance look at all the ECNL teams attending the PDA showcase. Every ECNL team in the Northeast region will be attending and attracting scouts to watch.
The ECNL teams from the NE have already played each other and some will play again at the tourney. Some new blood from other ECNL regions will be there. Remember just because your in ECNL doesn't mean anything. You have to prove it on the field. Non ECNL teams are good and have beaten some ECNL teams. This is basically a closed tourney that the ECNL uses as a marketing tool.
PDA tournament and schedule looks great and there will be lots of college coaches there. Delco will have some very good U15 teams and so will Columbia MD. There are many paths to the right college soccer opportunity and it doesn't all run through PDA, ECNL, or GDA. Very good players that are proactive reaching out to schools (and with an engaged club coach) will get looks and interest. My oldest daughter commited Sep 1 of her junior year to a very good D1 school. That school was in Columbia MD watching her u16 Memorial Day tourney game in late May of that year.
Maturity level on the blog is comparable to grade school kids but then again you all are talking about college. That's really ironic. @10:54 I think your message is one of the most truthful and mature comments I have seen on this blog in months.
PDA showcase is for the folks who sponsor golf holes and pay for the "extra" training. There are maybe a dozen girls this age group worth watching. And half of them won't be at PDA showcase......
BREAKING NEWS!!!! Just found out the Kitty Cats lost to Copa Lima 2-0 yesterday!!! The State Cup champs downed by Lima????? The #1 team in NJ downed by Lima???? What happened Kitty Cat dads?
I think they won the games that mattered the last 2 weekends, don't you? Also just confirmed Wildcats Averbuch secured wild card as 2002 NJYS NCS State Cup Finalist in Region 1 tournament So they will be attending both US US Club National Cup in Indianapolis and USYSA Region 1 Tournament in Virginia. Nice double Kitty Kats!
Kitty Cats use guest players in the important games! This the reason for the drastic swing in results! The Cats will get their butts handed to them in the big events just like Jeff Cup. Shouldn't be proud of playing the system.
Haha...oldie but goodie... "our starting goalkeeper was resting" "our starting goalkeeper was injured" "our usual starters didn't start" "coach changed line up" "oh my we have so many injuries" "this game didn't matter so we rested many" etc.... Love it!!!
Can a gracious PDA ECNL parent clear something up for me? Last week your score against CFC was listed as a 3-2 W, now its listed as a 0-3 L, can someone explain this small discrepancy?
"Kitty Kats Used guest players in NJYS State Cup or US Club NJ Open State Cup".- Post 6:09 Wow, you are really smoking something strong. NJYS rosters are frozen at state cup draw. And even in US Club you can only play for 1 team in the NJ Open Cup. And Wildcats didn't bring up any players from the Wildcats 2003 Team in either state cup. The 2003 Wildcats Scwenck Team played in both 2003 NJ state cups this year. Whatever you do don't give the girls credit for strong runs through both state cups. Nice try though Mommy.
1054 I have older kids and you are mistaken. At u15, the scouts are watching games with very little specificity. Sure they know if a kid has been to national camp, or has proactively reached out to them, but frequently they see someone else that they like as much or more while generically watching these early games.
To make the point I will relay a personal story; One of my kids was physically a late bloomer. At the Thanksgiving and Christmas U15 tournaments, her coach advised her specifically not to write to schools because he didn't want them tuned in and watching her only to potentially 'cross her off" their lists as being too small when she actually had a lot of room to grow. Turns out he was right on his projection- at the time she was 5' nothing and weighed about 90 pounds Now 4 years later a solid 5'7" and 135. However even though my child wrote no letters at all for these events about a dozen schools contacted her coach inquiring about her after seeing her play. She ultimately pursued 2 of these original schools and received offers. All of this with no initial contact on her or her coaches part.
From this I know without a doubt that some schools are trolling u15 games looking for talented ninth graders who fit their needs. They will reach out to the coach and if the kid has interest the dance will start. Obviously, some coaches are at a game to see players that reach out to them, but oftentimes they leave the field with unsolicited interest in another player.
Rush is #1 and Wildcats are ranked #2. Both are accepted into PDA Tournament. Everything else is just noise. If you notice there are no semifinal or final games at PDA and other showcases now and that will continue through U16 and U17 years for our girls. Winning mattered before your team gets to PDA event this spring and on to U16 in the fall and you start to apply to these showcases in order to have built the necessary resume to be accepted. Both Wildcats and Rush have that now. They are right where they need to be moving forward for their players. It's not about winning from here on, it's about each player showing well for the college coaches. And they will all be at PDA event next weekend.
Yes. Those 2 teams have done the necessary resume work to be invited to all the major showcases that NPL teams are eligible to play in over the next year and 1/2. They earned those top 2 spots on the field by winning in the state cups the last 2 weeks. They defeated the other non-ECNL contenders in those money games to each win state titles and earn those top 2 slots.
Reading between the lines...is this truly a message of congratulation or making the point of "NPL" and "non-ECNL"? Therefore attempting to underhandedly minimize their accomplishments?
It's accurate regardless. Those 2 teams are where they need to be for their girls to be seen over the next 12 months.let them undermine all they want. It's all hot air and meaningless now. Results are no longer important as this age group now moves on to exposure for the 2002 players individually.
So what happens next year when and at CASL when al the ECNL teams are bracketed together and do not go play the non-ECNL and NPL teams. Will less coaches be present? Trying to understand as I look at U16 brackets at PDA showcase and as they get older more of the ECNL teams are scheduled and placed together.
College coaches will come see Rush and Cats getting clobbered by real teams. The coaches will be impressed as little Susie is run all over the pitch! All the while blow hard coach sits in his chair smoking his cigar. Post the colleges the 2000 and 2001 Wildcat and Rush kids are committed to!
National League has their own Showcase event. It is not CASL but it happens the same week as CASL about 50 miles away. Rocky Mount, NC, Disney, and Las Vegas. But you only go to Disney or Vegas, not both. If you do well then Texas for Nationals. Tons of exposure.
The 2002 US Youth Soccer Region 1 tournament wildcard is the ERL Elite Champion. If the Champion is also a State Cup Champion then the ERL elite Finalist is the Wildcard, if they are a champion then the ERL elite 3rd place team and so on.
They are going to Indiana because US CLub sends Sate Cup champions directly because not all states are like NJ and NY. Look at PA the NCS is much bigger than the US Club state cup. If US Club State cups were legit in all states then they would advance to Mid-Atlantic Regional 1st before nationals. But that's the only way they can get quality teams most from the east coast.
There was a 2nd 2002 wild card available to Region 1 Tournament due to one of the states choosing not to send their state champion and as the NCS State Finalist from NJ Wildcats Averbuch were able to secure that slot. When they have an extra slot it goes to what they call the alternate wildcard.
1:50 That blow hard coach is the best youth coach in soccer. The job he has done with his team this season is remarkable. 3 of his 01's are already committed to div. 1 schools
Kat Dad don't even bother with them. They attack you because they desperately want to be where Kats and Rush teams are and to be going to those big events.Pure jealousy.
NJ Wildcats got a wildcard spot in the 2002 age group. There is just the one alternate wildcard slot that came open in 2002 for all the states. There are normally 16 slots in each birth year age bracket at Region 1 Tournament.
PDA college showcase tournament is the impressive, check out the list of college coaches attending: https://tgs.totalglobalsports.com/public/collgecoachattending.aspx?eid=352.
Yes, impressive. More impressive if the feeder leagues were not so watered down. ECNL has carved out most (not saying all, but most) of the better talent. Yrs ago, it would get a lot of coaches attending. Now, less than 5 from all divisions. Shame.
Classics over all will get pummeled in the DA especially 02 and older. maybe over time will improve, but expect next year and possibly the next to be ugly. That's how sad the USYSA programming has become.
For the poster that was inquiring if ECNL teams will be bracketed together later this year at CASL, etc., because they are together at PDA, please know that the PDA event is an ECNL event. These are games that are considered out of conference; league games and count toward post season play for ECNL teams. So, the ECNL teams play other ECNL teams there.
CASL, Jeff Cup, etc., are not ECNL showcase events. I asked the same question to my DOC and was advised what I am passing along. Nonetheless, it should be a great tourney.
I have said it before on this blog. Let the coaches, docs, trainers be hard on your kids at this age. From U12-U13 and up, especially at higher levels. Let them grow up a little. What do you think is going to happen in college, the coaches are going to be nice to your daughter. PDA is the place to be Memorial Day weekend. There is mixed ecnl bracket with npl teams. That is real nice to see that. Rush blue and some other teams, Boston Breakers, Ajax have a huge benefit with that.
@135 Again CASL had ECNL brackets! Even though it was a non-ECNL event they still bracketed the teams ECNL teams together. Go research this past Fall results.
PDA showcase U16 and above all ECNL teams accepted are bracketed together, go to next weekends brackets and see if any ECNL teams are in Non-ECNL brackets.
I have not heard of DA showcase dates yet from our DOC does anyone else know?
346 Yes agree heard the same thing beginning of Dec. for the 1st set of DA showcases. Rumor has it ECNL will be moving there dates as well to go head to head with Girls DA.
Going to be interesting how the showcase events turn out with coaches.
I'd say it stinks they had a bad day on NCS Final day. What can you say? What do you want to hear exactly?
Regardless if the club has to "build," having the DA is the best thing for these girls. They will get to play against the very best teams and in front on colleges year round. That's not a bad thing! The only alternative if your kid wants to play at this level is driving an hour and thirty minutes to PF each way 4-6 times a week. No thanks, I like my life outside of soccer and so does my kid.
And that is the reality of a lot of this. Soccer should not monopolize your time. It should compliment it. I wanted my daughter to try out for another GDA, but she just loves her team/club and the drive was too far. Have to weight all the options. Quality of life is a huge part.
Yes 12:07 and many of these families are miserable but are afraid to pull the plug when their daughters are not playing or dressing. Stressed and anxious young girls are paying the price for the parents drinking that Koolaid.
They believe they have to stay even if their kid is unhappy and stressed out. They beleive that they will not get seen if they don't stay on the bench on the ECNL Team.
So I finally got the low-down about the CFC/PDA ECNL game. A PDA parent that I am friends with spilled the beans. Let’s just say that CFC has no honor, and are a bunch of cowards, and crybabies. When you agree on something, you must honor your agreement, even if you lose the game. Score was 3-2 PDA, but CFC protested, and won a forfeit 3-0. Sad day for soccer, sad day for America.
If I must, then so be it, PDA had used all of their subs, but one of their players was injured, so Mike asked the CFC coach if he could put a player back in for a few minutes, just to finish the half, its was 0-2 CFC at that point. Well, PDA came back and won the game 3-2, and a few days later CFC protested to the national office, and they won the appeal.
if those are the facts, thats disgusting sportsmanship by CFC by their coaching staff. these are kids, these are adult non-dad coaches who have maintain some level of honor. but to be frank, its not different than 95% of the rest of the world who will tell you one thing and do another, not keep their word, walk away from their teammates mid-season or accept an invite and then leave before the season starts because someone else offered them something. these are the gross trends in society, as well established by this cfc coach. it starts at the top.
Rules are rules... everyone knows PDA is extremely shady. Cannot wait to see them smashed this weekend! Sorry PDA only one coach will be watching your games this weekend. Too bad it's your own.
Says the jealous parent whose little Susie's team couldn't make the cut! Guess we'll see Monday night who is on top! Haters gonna hate! Oh and little Susie probably didn't make PDA at tryouts so!
How did CFC win the protest? Doesn't the ref need to collect the pass before player can enter? So the refs had to be on board and there had to be an agreement for the player to enter. The rule is no re-entry but it looks like an agreement was made or the refs wouldn't allow the player to enter. Protest should have been denied.
When our player got shaken up in the 2nd half of state final our coach took her off and played with 10 while she got some treatment and tape and after 10 minutes when she ws ready to go back in the refs waved her back on. That is how you do it according to the rules with no re-entry.
Missing the point. Rules are rules. Every other coach manages his game and substitutions based on the rule. You run out of subs that's on you. Deal with the consequences of taking the risk. Don't try and get around the rules to benefit you whether someone agrees to it or not. Oh wait ....
Your missing the point. I would have played with ten myself. However, it appears the CFC coach and the referees made an exception because CFC was up 2-0. The re entered sub was in the first half according to the information we have here. That sub had zero to due with PDA coming back to score 3 unanswered goals in the second half. Correct me if I'm wrong on the details. So if the details are correct then the CFC coach is a dirt bag and will get his one day, coaches won't forget. Like you screw me have fun not being allowed into my tournament next year. Just saying be careful what you wish for!
Boy are you two stupid! A it would have been PDA with 10 players not CFC. B they were even sided 11v11 when PDA came back with 3 goals unless this information is incorrect. C can you read? I said be careful the DOC MAY not invite a team or club to the PDA tournament if you have zero integrity. No I am not affiliated with the club at all. Read the post better dope.
Just joined this forum...I'm a Coach for the North Mississauga Black Panthers (U-15 Girls) in Ontario. We had one of these forums for many years but it was shut down last year:( Looking forward to reading all the comments and joining debates as we all work on supporting and coaching the athletes we love.
OP here, its this simple, when you make a agreement with another coach, you have to live with the result. Heard the CFC coach has differed to the CFC Mothership, and that bunch was not amused...
The referee made a colossal blunder by not following the rules of the game. The player subbed off should not have been allowed re-entry under ANY circumstances. This referee should be banned from ECNL for letting this travesty happen.
2:01, you're a dope. sorry, you are. you are whats wrong with soccer in this country. its fricking youth soccer, kids killing themselves on the field of play to compete and show their development. most true lovers of the game at this try to avoid that win at all costs. and if pda asked cfc to allow a player to regain entry, typically a ref has always wanted to make things more fair, not follow those absolutely stupid draconian, moronic rules that ECNl feels are important. I've seen teams agree to play 40 minute halves instead of 45 because light was getting dim. I've seen refs tweak substitution rules and allow players from any team enter on any stoppage, etc. It happens. ANd even if you don't agree with it, the two heads of the teams, the HEAD COACHES of two teams BOTH agreed, and the ref simply granted them their wish. You have no idea how hard refs work for so little money, and you call them a travesty. YOU ARE A DOPE!
I see both sides of this. But have to agree with 2:01. They are ref and need to follow the rules of the game. The Rules are law and they should have denied the request made by PDA. But since they honored it they created this mess. Rules are rules and not following the rules is what has messed up youth soccer and many other things in life.
I think if the game was tied, or CFC were losing, no way does the CFC coach agree to the request. Sounds like the CFC coach is in deep shit, M.O. is a powerful guy, this will linger for awhile...
Btw: the PDA player that was injured did not return, PDA wanted to use a player that was already taken out. ECNL rule is once you come off, no reentry in that half of the game...
Good thought you have. Go for soccer tipsters with whom player will get amazing soccer betting experience. For all types of soccer predictions like the Asian handicap, fixed odds betting, accurate soccer betting, correct score, insider soccer tips soccer tipsters is the leading one.
How about giving the girls some time off from soccer, does that sound strange? Even the pros get vacations, maybe we should emulate the older players??
Tournament entries , acceptances and bracketing should, at top tournaments, be required to be outsourced, handled by a third party as this kind of crap happens all the time.
Again unknown people on the blog. PF is not in the ECNL division at PDA showcase because they have already attended ECNL events in Florida/AZ to complete ECNL obligations. The PDA ECNL division is a ECNL sanctioned event with pre-selected 14 teams, next year at U16 all ECNL teams are grouped together. Go look at those brackets.
Since PF already completed there ECNL obligations and still decided to attend the PDA showcase, they were accepted and placed in non-ECNL division.
Again before posting understand the rules and facts. Hope that explains it 8:06. Stop being a hater 9:57
A question to all the parents and coaches out there. Our team is looking to showcase our players for U.S. Colleges this year and next...what five tournaments (in ranking, if possible) would you recommend attending for max exposure. I know that the Disney classic will be in November this year and we will be applying, but would like to know about more tourneys. Any and all input would be greatly appreciated.
My daughter is a referee and I would be embarrassed if she choose to ignore substitution rules just because someone didn't want to play down a player.
This is not just an ECNL rule, the US Youth Soccer National League also has the same rule. I believe most State Cups also use this rule.
Obviously ECNL found the referee made an inappropriate decision or they wouldn't have ruled the game a forfeit.
Let me guess, you think actually sending off a player receiving a red card is mean because a team will have to play short? Does the referee have the discretion to red card a player and still let them play?
2:02 - agreed. it's nice to be hospitable, but you have to enforce the rules. And people are blaming the Ct team for complaining, could have been ECNL as you noted.
2:02, I don't take issue with your position that the rule is a good or not a good one. Its the rule. But the coaches agreed to the exception, and the ref agreed. once that happens, to forfeit is unfair. if he had said no good, PDA could have opted to play the balance of the first half down a man or till the injured kid could re-enter. if the cop tells you its ok , go ahead and drive down the left side of this road to avoid a pothole, and later a camera tickets for driving on the wrong side of the road, id imagine the judge tosses that out. you have to be able to rely on those in charge. for the coach later to file a petition is beyond Fu cked up. foul. He's the worst kind of sportsperson that exists. object at the time, say not to the re-enter "rules are rules" but not play nice, allow it and then backdoor a grievance afterwards, what a dishonorable person.
Yes, an agreement is an agreement. Is that what happened? Or, did ECNL get wind of it maybe from the ref, not necessarily from the Ct coach, and get involved?
Did they take it out of the hands of those involved and act on it independently from the agreements?
Yes, in real soccer you play a man down until the injured played can return. There are no negotiations or deals in that situation. It's part of the game and seen regularly at the higher levels where those rules are in place.
Are you asking for predictions at a showcase? The winners are the college coaches who get to abuse their expense accounts and drink and party all weekend. We are the losers who look toward these coaches as "gods" who hold our daughters futures in their hands!!!
In regard to the aforementioned match where the team mad an agreement with the other, player down, etc.
It is most probable that the referee match report indicated the incident and the agreement between the coaches. Once the referee sends in that match report, it is reviewed and then any required action is taken in regard to the information reported.
In this case, assuredly, the league was aware, investigated, then made a decision as is best for their league.
All of the parties involved, I am sure, were made aware that this situation is not to be repeated in the league.

«Oldest ‹Older 1001 – 1200 of 3538 Newer› Newest»At college you are going to school to get an education at MF you are PAYING to play soccer on a team they told you are on. BIG difference.
Amazing how they get the parents to buy into this crap. Anything over 21 is ridiculous and a money grab. 3 alternates is enough.
go read the 2003 blog, and stop defending the MatchUnfit garbagola!! They are an embarrassment to good programs everywhere. We were there, tested the waters, its a joke. #DONTLOOKBACKADIOS
Can we please stop talking about match fit ? It's really getting quite old and boring .
We can stop talking about the MFers only after that organization disbands or real coaches run the program.
I don't see how constantly complaining on this Blog is going to help . Hopefully you can find another way to resolve your issues with the club .
Posting in blog in hopes that parents really look into the programs. I'd prefer to see all kids excel both in soccer and as people.
Rush blue and wildcats move on to state cup final tomorrow
All the MF parents write the same. And not very well.
State cup, kickball vs kickball. Says a lot about the lack of quality soccer in NJ.
Why wasn't your team in final then
Rush blue state champs once again!
@357
Stop hating. That's nonsense. It's Obvious that you are envious.
Not a Rush Blue parent, but credit where due--
Congrats.
Sure the best have to weed through some
weak teams to get to the end but then they move on to Regionals. Regionals is where it gets truly good and of coarse nationals. Obviously your kid plays ECNL. ECNL doesn't automatically mean great. There are great, mediocre and awful ECNL teams just like with non ECNL.
Big weekend coming up in PA for State Cup.
6:50 am. Your post is accurate, especially the last sentence.
-ECNL parent.
10:51 AM
Agree wholeheartedly with your comments. from someone whose daughter was pulled and never given another chance, but you need to expand the reasons for being hooked are off the field deals as well.
She has interest from many D1 schools so that is no issue for her, but it what you say is true as well.
So at u15 she interest from many d1 schools??
That is far-fetched, is beyond that, its a republican narrative.
I don't see any NPL players verbally committed to D1 school that early. Stop blowing smoke and admit your dreaming for your child.
Agree, but this interest will only come if you attend the top showcases as an NPL player and play in the upper few flights as well.
9:23
I won't say it's impossible just not likely that a U15 NPL player is getting unsolicited looks from a top D1 program.
I love the elitist attitude that is implied.
at 8:44 AM
Was going with the semi-local schools that have a name, Temple, Drexel and other D1's in the area not withstanding.
At our club the best of the 2002's often play up with the 2001's so they have already been seen a couple of times.
8:22 - you have MD with PS and UVA? Okay.
2:57,
This issue has come up often on the blog.
Signed,
Puff the Magic Dragon
4:08 Be Careful you're narrowing down the non-ECNL team you are from by identifying the showcases you have attended and with the small acceptance list at PDA showcase. There are only a select few teams from the NJ,NY area that have attended Disney, Jeff, and accepted to PDA showcase.
Who cares where 4:08 is from, as long as he isn’t impeding a criminal investigation, or revealing Top secret information to our mortal enemies. So I am cool.
After all this is supposed to be a blog where we exchange information not a forum for personal attacks.
5:39 - there are west coast teams playing at PDA as well. Never know who they may spot when doing the evalu for other players being tracked. This tourney is no joke. Coaches all over the place. Just hope it's not 90+ and humid.
7:45 - you must be a journalist; don't let the facts get in your way. lol
@5:39.... when your done looking for your Birkenstocks in your hemp purse or as you call it a man bag, look up what colleges are attending and what teams. Nationwide attendance! Hopefully your Prius won't break down on your way to FC Deco on Memorial Day weekend since your daughters team was not accepted to the PDA Showcase.
PDA showcase is The Bomb. Every D1 college will be there. Good luck to all the girls lucky enough to be on an invited team. Show your stuff girls!
These next 12 months will be the most important of their youth soccer career and will hopefully open doors to the opportunities they will have for the rest of their lives well beyond just soccer.
@10:09 There are some strong teams at FC Delco Cup as well. Good Luck to both events. Two future Girls DA teams will be attending!
Classic parent is that you?
But no college coaches will be there unfortunately.
PDA arrogance
10:54 - thank you for a sensible, realistic comment.
10:54
Well said.
Which PA future DA teams are in delco? I only see 16s
This is 15 blog right?
11:19 Cedar Stars the club PDA black listed from PDA events. Seems same goes for PA Classics no acceptance either.
Wow look!!! Eskine and Norelco college are at Delco!! Lol!!!!!
@10:54 mature comment
@1:05 dickhead commment
Oh stop the Wildcats are there what are you talking about! Oh and Peppermint Patty University is also there.
3:12 - hahaha. Oh you were serious? Place to be as far as showcase tourneys in May, hands down.
1:05 and 4:10 appear to be a troll. Don't feed it. Surely there's a Huff Post story (story is a stretch) that will lure it away. lol
BREAKING NEWS!!!! Just found out the Kitty Cats lost to Copa Lima 2-0 yesterday!!! The
State Cup champs downed by Lima????? The #1 team in NJ downed by Lima???? What happened
Kitty Cat dads?
Was tonight US Soccer training for 02s?
I think they won the games that mattered the last 2 weekends, don't you? Also just confirmed Wildcats Averbuch secured wild card as 2002 NJYS NCS State Cup Finalist in Region 1 tournament So they will be attending both US US Club National Cup in Indianapolis and USYSA Region 1 Tournament in Virginia. Nice double Kitty Kats!
Jealous Kat's hating mommy now on suicide watch after reading 1009 post.
Maybe a Kat got her tongue.
NJ only gets one wildcard entry to region 1 event out of all the age groups. How did Wildcats Averbuch manage to get it for 2002.
It's a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma.
8:56 US training for NJ?
Kitty Cats use guest players in the important games! This the reason for the drastic swing in results! The Cats will get their butts handed to them in the big events just like Jeff Cup. Shouldn't be proud of playing the system.
Haha...oldie but goodie...
"our starting goalkeeper was resting"
"our starting goalkeeper was injured"
"our usual starters didn't start"
"coach changed line up"
"oh my we have so many injuries"
"this game didn't matter so we rested many"
etc....
Love it!!!
Can a gracious PDA ECNL parent clear something up for me? Last week your score against CFC was listed as a 3-2 W, now its listed as a 0-3 L, can someone explain this small discrepancy?
That sounds like a typo, or a forfeit by PDA, doubt CFC beat them 3-0 at home.
"Kitty Kats Used guest players in NJYS State Cup or US Club NJ Open State Cup".- Post 6:09
Wow, you are really smoking something strong.
Gotta be primary to play state cup... love the bs explanations people come up with
That's what happens when you are twisted up like a pretzel with jealousy.
The true #1 team in NJ is representing in Virginia and will be representing Region 1 in Texas.
That's a bold statement by rush blue. Nationals in Texas really.
9:38 is a troll trying to stir up trouble ...as is most every post on this blog.
Someone is trying to stir the pot. Wrong team to do it with though. The run under the radar.
Lets just see how the Kitty Cats do in flight 2 at the PDA tournament before we declare them #1!
Disney casl And Jeff cup do not have separate ecnl brackets. Casl and Disney both have separate brackets for national league
Ecnl has a separate event in Sanford fla the 3 days prior to Disney. Colleges send coaches to both events.
Disney casl and Las Vegas players cup in March are the 3 national league events.
At least they will be there playing. You will be at home as usual typing out nasty bile while hiding behind your keyboard eating cookies.

1 schools
And yes we got our invitation and hotel reservation info for Region 1 Tournament on Tuesday.
Kat Dad don't even bother with them. They attack you because they desperately want to be where Kats and Rush teams are and to be going to those big events.Pure jealousy.
5:31 I didn't know that. Do you know which state NY-E?
NJ Wildcats got a wildcard spot in the 2002 age group. There is just the one alternate wildcard slot that came open in 2002 for all the states. There are normally 16 slots in each birth year age bracket at Region 1 Tournament.
Not sure which state declined to send their 2002 state cup champ. Have to check bracket.
PDA college showcase tournament is the impressive, check out the list of college coaches attending: https://tgs.totalglobalsports.com/public/collgecoachattending.aspx?eid=352.
Yes, very impressive!
Even more impressive though is classics club representing at state cup finals tomorrow! 4 teams!
Good luck Classics Teams in EPA state finals.
Conspiracy theory for PA State Cup finals:
PA Classics going DA - State Cups mostly USYS sponsored Hmmmmm.....
Close games in each bracket but were they seeded to get through Hmmmm....
DA showcases are next Fall in Fantasyland.
May 19, 2017 at 3:12 PM - How's this for fantasy:
12/6-12/10 - Lakewood FL
April - TBD
JUne/July - TBD
346 Yes agree heard the same thing beginning of Dec. for the 1st set of DA showcases. Rumor has it ECNL will be moving there dates as well to go head to head with Girls DA.
Going to be interesting how the showcase events turn out with coaches.
Heard that as well (GDA showcase schedule in early December). Isn't that around the time when CASL normally schedules it's event too? Is CASL in GDA?
Wonder what is going to happen with WAGS, CASL, even Jeff Cup?
2:13 it was done by random draw and recorded but whatever makes you feel better.
1:29 your comment is sad. Plenty of good talent in USYS. People on this board seemed to need to put others down to feel better about themselves
9:02 - that was probably a troll. Don't bite.
2:13 what say you now? 4 classics teams lost yesterday!
Have a great day!
Why afraid? No other choices or just trapped?
Muahaha!!! Best one ever!!
Forfeit on what grounds. You have to share that if you peddle the other info.
Peddling? Facts or facts.
CFC won the douche-bag of the year award!!!
Who won the EPA State Cup?
FC Bucks!!!
if those are the facts, thats disgusting sportsmanship by CFC by their coaching staff. these are kids, these are adult non-dad coaches who have maintain some level of honor. but to be frank, its not different than 95% of the rest of the world who will tell you one thing and do another, not keep their word, walk away from their teammates mid-season or accept an invite and then leave before the season starts because someone else offered them something. these are the gross trends in society, as well established by this cfc coach. it starts at the top.
MANCHESTER STRONG, FOREVER!
Bravo CFC.
No Re-entry is the rule.
6:36 100% agree
7:25 here again.
@7:30
correct
curious about more deets
9:23 I would think playing with 11 players vs 10 helped them come back. And your comment about pdas tournament is exactly the point 8:15 was making.
An actual THREAT from 9:23
Have to wonder if it is a person in a position of actual power at PDA
That would be sad.
^^^^^^^
I see both sides of this. But have to agree with 2:01. They are ref and need to follow the rules of the game. The Rules are law and they should have denied the request made by PDA. But since they honored it they created this mess. Rules are rules and not following the rules is what has messed up youth soccer and many other things in life.
And sometimes the "rules" are the problem. Common sense isn't all that common anymore.
ECNL website has U15 ECNL CFC losing to PDA on April 29th by a score of 3-0.
CFC Connecticut, not the girls from cracker-town USA.
Hahaha. I see some use CFC for Continental too. Maybe use C-FC.

Anybody here participated in vogelsinger summer camp? Curious of any experiences or opinions.
How about giving the girls some time off from soccer, does that sound strange? Even the pros get vacations, maybe we should emulate the older players??
Went to Vogelsinger Camp 15 years ago was a great experience.
Was decent except waking early everyday with the vogels chirping away
ha ha ha, agreed on the chirping!!
But rather see that kind of high energy and involvement than those who are checked out all day.
Haha I get it!
Vogel is German for bird
How witty!!
Ha. True, but there is a vogelsinger camp.
http://www.vogelsingersoccer.com/
High energy chirping bird soccer camp in central nj. has awesome written all over it!!
Are we talking about cows now?
What's up with PF not playing in the ECNL division at PDA?
I heard that PDA, MFA, and WCFC, conspired to keep them out, because they are all jealous.
#bodyslamPF
10:52 Thx for the explainer. Just when you lose faith on these forums.
May 23, 2017 at 2:11 PM
My daughter is a referee and I would be embarrassed if she choose to ignore substitution rules just because someone didn't want to play down a player.
This is not just an ECNL rule, the US Youth Soccer National League also has the same rule. I believe most State Cups also use this rule.
Obviously ECNL found the referee made an inappropriate decision or they wouldn't have ruled the game a forfeit.
Let me guess, you think actually sending off a player receiving a red card is mean because a team will have to play short? Does the referee have the discretion to red card a player and still let them play?
1112 WAGS is a good one in October for regional coaches. NEWSS similar.
CASL, Disney, Jeff CUp, Must go to
National level tournaments for big budgets include
Las Vegas Players cup and San Diego Surf Cup
My thoughts...as a ref, certain levels required that I had to have a match report
Perhaps ECNL overrode the decision??
9:03 He knows the rules and is asking for them to not be enforced. He is no angel in this situation.
The ref is to blame because he/she allowed it.
The CFC coach got 3 points for his/her team. It was a no lose situation up by 2 at the time and a protest in hand - No blame here.
The rule is no re-entry
Ok enough about Mike and the CFC issue. Both are great teams. Let's look towards this weekend. Any predictions for ECNL/NPL/EDP locals?
Those college coaches are going to be impressed with how often you lose to real teams!
