SDFC and Marlboro tied 0-0

Anonymous said...

You must be from Marlboro. Was it a good game?

Anonymous said...

Marlboro just stacks the box with 10 kids entire game. Not a sdfc parent just a parent that has played them.

Anonymous said...

SDFC is the much better team. They do throw in some clunkers now and then as most 11/12 year olds do.

Anonymous said...

March 4th 2:45

That's a 100% false statement and you know it.

Anonymous said...

"SDFC is the much better team. They do throw in some clunkers now and then as most 11/12 year olds do."

SDFC seems to have added a PDA "Striker"! but she did not affect the team's offense vs Marlboro...

Anonymous said...

In 2015 the following seniors committed to college while playing for PDA:

PDA Shock NPL had 8 D1 and 8 DIII
PDA Force NPL had 10 D1 and 10 DIII
PDA ECNL Clash 14 DI

So PDA had 32 D1 and 18 DIII girl commitments. This about an average year at PDA.

Anonymous said...

SDCF is advanced for this age in tactics, but not very athletic or high soccer IQ as individual players. Other teams are quickly catch up on tactics, even within the same game. So there will be no more advantage soon -- that's the inconsistent "clunkers".

The parents' posturing when losing or tying is comical. They come over and stand on the opponents side lines and loudly feign this shock like its so unexpected and out of character.

Anonymous said...

i think sdfc parents may be worst than Lyons when it comes to talk. If they have the old PDA striker dad, good luck.

Anonymous said...

Someone will be making excuses very soon. Who won?

Anonymous said...

PDA Lyon 5-1 over SDFC Yellow. It was 2-0 in the first 10 minutes and was never even close. SDFC parents were friendly before and after. Their team is great I'm sure but just not on this day vs. PDA Lyon.

Anonymous said...

Holy moly! Pda Lyon beat the #1 ranked team in NJ! SDFC didn't stand a chance. I wonder how they are ranked #1?

Anonymous said...

Well the U13 SDFC parents can laugh a bit now at the U12 crew thinking they are best thing ever. They actually say stuff like - let's Z just scrimmage U13 - we can beat them - not. We beat Lyon a week befit U guys got whupped. Be humble. Rage has never had a game like you did today - ever.

Anonymous said...

What about Jeff cup last year? I believe you had two beat downs, both were 5 to 0. Maybe the reason for being in second bracket this year.
Didn't do to well at PDA and stars tournamanet as well. Maybe 2015 wasn't your year.

Anonymous said...

They are in the 3rd bracket this year. You guys should try and get along, a lot of you may be playing together next year with birth year change. What coach will be taking over the 03 age group at sdfc, Rich B is a great coach. How many of the rage girls are solid 03 players?

Anonymous said...

So a U-13 team is bragging about beating a U-12 team......stay classy ashat

Anonymous said...

I don't think he was bragging. Sounded like he was telling the u12 parents to chill out. I agree that the u12 sdfc parents talk way to much.

Anonymous said...

"What about Jeff cup last year? I believe you had two beat downs, both were 5 to 0. Maybe the reason for being in second bracket this year."

What I meant was Rage has never had a big game moment like a tournament final where most of New jersey is paying attention and you you just roll over. I have heard maybe PDA was just bigger, stronger, faster, better at soccer or whatever but was actually hoping for a club win but just stay humble is all I mean. Lots of chatter from U12 families to some of your future teammates families at U13...

Anonymous said...

SDFC U12 will stop talking when the PDA Striker dad gets kicked off the team. Any day now. Any day now.

Anonymous said...

I will say that if you watched the game today you can't argue that there is a huge difference in size and speed. The game was played on a very small pitch which you would think would help a smaller team. SDFC is a very talented team with good ball movement. Just don't have a finisher. They are a long way away talent wise across the board. Not being cocky it's just a fact. With that being said they have what seems to be a bunch of good kids that work hard. At the end of the day that's all you can ask for.

Anonymous said...

I'm going to say SPEED OF PLAY was the biggest factor, not so much speed.

When SDFC would make their normal passes a defender was there to shield,to steal or just disrupt. On the other side passes from PDA were fast - real fat ball movement - along with some kick and run because of the speed part.

Headers, PDA defended with headers, all the defenders had 4 or 5 headers each we do not generally do that. they actually started like fast breaks off defended headers.

The goalie = whatever - she played like she was 17 years old. 50,60 plus yard fast break punts - high school varsity girls don't punt like that. Make the save, sprint to end of box drip kick it 50 and we're all up and its gone over our heads - her speed of play was another level.

When PDA made their passes we did not get our normal steals, mostly because of a team-wide shielding they used to receive passes.

Just overall they were a bit bigger a bit faster but what they did with the ball to make it move fast is what impressed me most. Speed of play

Anonymous said...

8:16, what is false about it? You sound like you know something so enlighten me?

Anonymous said...

Okay thanks PDA parent. I will agree that your goalie is more than half your team plus her high school friend up top. Without those two, below average team and not many will start as 2003 A team.

Anonymous said...

Come on. Now you sound like an idiot.

PDA lyon keeper is an exceptional player. Best 03' keeper in the state if not east coast. NJ has three keepers at 02,03,04 that all train at US National and all are far ahead of anyone in their respective age group. Going to be fun to follow the three in High School in a few years. Also, quick shout out to SDFC. Played them a few times and I think their parents are just like other teams. They have a lot invested in that team, like we all do with our own daughters. When you have a lot invested it gets emotional.... Keep it up SDFC!

Anonymous said...

@9:08AM- Wow, someone at PDA got a shout out! Who are the other keepers, what clubs?

Anonymous said...

Say goodbye. Going to the girl's DA!

Anonymous said...

The 03 keeper is from PDA also.

What club is the 04 keeper from?

Anonymous said...

9:08 - So you have knowledge about all of the '03 GKs currently playing at the U12 or U13 level on the east coast? If so, where do you get such knowledge?

Anonymous said...

PDA has announced the coaches for the BYC next year. Looks like the current u13 guy is taking over the 2003 age group. this is a good time to make change, he will take a fresh look at all new players at tryouts. The goalie is a shoe-in and I'm sure he has a bunch of his current girls staying, but would see lost of new players. Have other clubs made the coaching change announcements? SDFC, WC and PDA will be the go to clubs for next year in both 2004 and 2003. I heard PDA will stay firm on age appropriate play going into BYC. I think other clubs will be a little more flexible in first year with DA around the corner.

Anonymous said...

Honest qustion? How will sdfc look at 2003 next year. With two strong teams at both age groups, how many strong kids are 2003?
Doesn't sound like the parents get along, but that will all change over time. And do you know who will be the coach? WC will have a strong group, the u13 team is weak, but they have a lot of 2003 girls and most of the u12 team is 2003 too. This will be a strong team, don't know who is coaching yet.

Anonymous said...

From PDA's website: There will inevitably be exceptions to the following club decisions but they will be made with the best interests of our players in mind. Exceptions may be made based on team make up, age and development opportunities. Any decisions on player movement will be evaluated and approved by club staff and Director of coaching.

Anonymous said...

There is an 03 keeper down in South Carolina just outside Hilton Head. She is already 5"11, can punt the ball 60 yards, and covers the net post to post like a hockey goalie... she is already being recruited to Alabama to be their punter and Nick Saban said she could also play home soccer matches.

That is how stupid you sound 9:08.

Anonymous said...

4:12 - that is player development over team success... kudos to them

Anonymous said...

PDA like most clubs, keeping it OPEN for the exceptional player to play up - in writing - just in case,,,,,

but will follow strict birth year guidelines when forming teams.

I have heard of ONE team, HBC U16 from Long Island - that is stating they will "stay together:, but even there I will believe it when I see it

(Folks wondering about current U15 Princeton girls as well)

Anonymous said...

PDA Sore already offering the current 04 to play up 03 so much for it being selctive and saved for that one or too stand outs.

Anonymous said...

It's PDA shore, who cares. I think the ecnl teams are the ones they will be more concerned about staying at age. There will be several across multiple age groups, but most will want to stay at age to showcase better and play more.

Anonymous said...

Teams and clubs like igfa who only have one decent team will probably stay together. But they will hurt the teams below by doing so.

Anonymous said...

In the short term, it might seem to make sense to keep existing teams together but for the long term it doesn't make any sense. If you keep existing teams together, when new girls show up to tryout in the spring, there will be 2 different teams that they could try out for playing at 2 different ages next year (as an example if you keep existing teams together, and a 2004 girl shows up to tryout this spring, she could either be placed on next year's u14 team which will be this years u12 team with a combo of 2003 and 2004 birthdays or she can be on the u13 team which will be the u11 team which will have a combo of birthdays from 2004 and 2005). Why would the club want to deal with this instead of just making birth year teams which will arguably be more competitive anyway than combined year teams? Obviously if they do not have enough players to field birth year teams, that is different.

Anonymous said...

Lots of New Jersey teams - more than 10 headed to Virginia in a couple weeks? Predictions for the different flights?

SDFC moves up to #2 in the nation. I know we lost pretty bad but - just sayin!

Anonymous said...

Soccer is supposed to be a beautiful game that unites families, players, etc. Instead, you are a bunch of grown adults TEARING each other's kids down. Grow up.

Anonymous said...

Now is prob not a good time to bring up your ranking. It looks to me as if you got your butts kicked.

Anonymous said...

you lost 5-1 to PDA. would not be boasting about your ranking. don't deserve to be there

Anonymous said...

#10 on sdfc and father are club hoppers. smh

Anonymous said...

#4 on SDFC was the best player in the PDA game. 03 or 04?

Anonymous said...

"SDFC moves up to #2 in the nation. I know we lost pretty bad but - just saying!"

Still a great accomplishment not to mention the wins this weekend over the top teams from NY & Conn!

The PDA team is different than most I have seen but the overall performance of a whole year lead to that ranking!

Anonymous said...

#4 couldn't start on Pda. Actually none of them would start on Lyon.

Anonymous said...

couldn't start on Pda. Actually none of them would start on Lyon.

I doubt that! What a rude comment. I don't even know this child or these teams just in case you want to go there!

Anonymous said...

Yes this comment was rude but is that a surprise? Without exception, if a parent decides to single out their child on an anonymous soccer forum, negative comments will follow. Without exception. Do not identify individual players on a forum, period. Where is the moderator anyway?

Anonymous said...

11:55 ridiculous statement. How can you lose 5-1 which is a blowout in youth soccer and actually think your kid was the best player on the field. Next time I watch you play I'll give my opinion.

Anonymous said...

Don't know or care about the teams in question but it is not true that one player can win a soccer match. You are suggesting that if the best player (however you decide to assess that) form the losing side of a 5-1 game, was switched to the other team, that team would then win the game. That is an ignorant statement.

Anonymous said...

Everyone ready for the unofficial NJ Showcase weekend? If your not familiar with it, its called Jeff Cup. This year more then ever it will be about coaches and trainers looking at new players due to the new age guideline. With 10 teams going down trainers have the ability to look at roughly 140 U12 players. Now if you want to look at the top players, thats easy just show up next Wednesday afternoon at Monmouth U. If you can't make it to Long Branch then Richmond is the place. FYI all the players at Monmouth will be dressed the same with no team affiliation shown. May be easier at Jeff.

Anonymous said...

What is "showcasing" an 11 year old? Looking for college? a new team? adulation? ego stroking?

Anonymous said...

10:55AM- Your right. My daughters team is looking for some specific positions and I know our trainer will be viewing some players before tryouts. Makes sense.

Anonymous said...

Doing the same thing as well. A lot of the players will be at the various tryouts in the next two months, but its a great way to evaluate rather then just drills.

Anonymous said...

#4 on sdfc would not stand a chance on Lyon.

Anonymous said...

"#4 on sdfc would not stand a chance on Lyon."

- BTW this message above is probably from another SDFC parent that doesn't want other kids, not their own to be singled out for doing well. C'mon.

#4 stood out to me along with #14 on the free kick and her sprint backs on D.

Anonymous said...

What is the 03/04 make-up of SDFC Yellow?

Anonymous said...

Really 8:36. You were impressed by a free kick and someone running fast. Man it's doesn't take a lot to impress you.

Anonymous said...

About 60 / 40 - 03 / 04 on sdfc. About the same on older team, club should make transition well, although some parents want to kids to play up.

Anonymous said...

60/40 is the same on PDA Lyon.

Anonymous said...

PDA Lyon has alot more 03's than 04's

Anonymous said...

So does sdfc. Who cares.

Anonymous said...

How are the barons gonna look next year is it worth going to there try-out

Anonymous said...

"PDA Lyon has alot more 03's than 04's"

Lyon is 60/40. If 4 more is a lot then you are correct.

Anonymous said...

For all 03 and 04 players. Go to as many tryouts as you can. The dynamic all of the great teams will change. Some will change dramatically. Some new teams will form from a mix of teams that have disbanded. If your South Jersey look toward PDA and Rush to be very strong next season. If your in the North look at PDA of course and SDFC, and World Class. All strong organizations.

Anonymous said...

pda vs barons 0-0. good game

Anonymous said...

U13 Barons. They were big and played organized defense. They played A LOT of defense.

Anonymous said...

SJEB were big, organized and played good soccer.

PDA had several more chances then SJEB but not enough great chances to regret the draw. SJEB goalie did well.

Anonymous said...

Why would people go to rush team they are not very good at all..

Anonymous said...

NJ Rush 02/03 is tops in the nation. A lot of interest from 03 and 04 for fall.

Anonymous said...

NJ Rush 02/03 is tops in the nation???

Anonymous said...

LOL.

Anonymous said...

Same as SDFC - tops in the nation! SDFC & NJ Rush should combine and form the new NJ USDA club for 2017!

Anonymous said...

All the decent players on rush are 02 and that will be the team next year. They will be u15 next year.

Anonymous said...

You guys are all wrong! Millville Pride is swooping in this fall and tearing everyone apart!

Anonymous said...

Looks like voorhees could meet Pda in the semis at Jeff cup. Who will get the bragging rights?

Anonymous said...

voorhees will more than likely not win against aztec. Not a statement of the weakness of the vorhees team. They are a wonderful squad. Aztec is even better.
PDA is better than all teams in brackets A and D. Brackets B and C, we will see.
Would be nice to see vorhees come out on top and represent well for an all NJ semi. Just unlikely.
In the fall when most of those vorhees players are wearing rush blue things will get really interesting.

Anonymous said...

Voorhees is going to Rush? When did this happen, is it official????

Anonymous said...

If the rumors are true then this is Voorhees last Jefferson Cup. Final time playing as a team at this tourney. Emotions will be high. Not a team I would want to go up against seeing they have nothing to lose. Don't be mistaken most of those girls will be back in Richmond next year but under a new club or clubs.

Anonymous said...

@2:04 how is this voorhees last time playing together when they are in the state cup and edp? That does not make sense so please explain. Next year almost all teams will change so it is no more dramatic for voorhees than any other team.

Anonymous said...

PDA Lyon and Voorhees Xtreme have never played one another. How has this game not happened? Per the blog they could meet in the semi's at Jeff Cup and I just looked up New Jersey Cup, and they could play there as well. Just like at Jeff Cup they both have to win some games to meet but this could get interesting.

Anonymous said...

PDA Lyon doesn't need to play vorhees. That is why the match has not occurred. They will most likely play in the nj cup.

Anonymous said...

No one "needs" to play any soccer match.

Anonymous said...

1027 - you must be the life of the party. there is no benefit for lyon to play a team that isn't worth the time to travel. if you are on the blog to profess how youth soccer should be about fun and this doesn't matter than you are in the wrong place. go spend your time doing something you agree with. Bernie Sanders might be holding a rally and you can be his youth soccer liaison. everyone will get a medal of the same size and all of the wealthy people can pay for the teams that can't afford to participate.

Anonymous said...

LOL - you sound like a real charmer. I am sure Lyon is going to make soccer great again.

Anonymous said...

In America, soccer is a sport for the wealthy but that may begin to change with our evolving demographics. It is the global sport of the masses. Don't give into your fear and run and hide in a sand trap - embrace change.

Best team in the state was your daughters team when she was 6! No pressure, no anything. It was fun!! Thats the best team!!! Now I have to drive over 600 miles around trip this weekend to play some teams I live less then 50 miles from!!! I feel like Lewis Black!! #$&%#

Anonymous said...

What's all the hype about Aztec? They played two tough games last season and lost to NEFC and then blown out by South Shore Select 5-0?

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

South shore select u12 elite is playing against u14's and 15's right now. Fantastic football. Their coach is very lovely as well.
Only team on age that is truly capable of consistent wins against the likes of pda lyon.

Anonymous said...

Triangle parent here from NC, does anyone know what fc copa are like? Also BRYC and AFFC. Has anyone came across them

Anonymous said...

FC Copa Madrid is weak. They lost last week to the U11 PDA Strikers something like 5-3 in 9 v 9 game.

Speaking of NC…Have you ever played Charlotte SA Torsion 03?

Anonymous said...

Charlotte torsion are a solid group, they play good soccer and have 1 very talented center midfield player, small but can change a game......

Anything on affc and Bryc?

Anonymous said...

I feel bad for the 03 galaxy girls that have to combine with rage, that team is full of poisonous parents.

Anonymous said...

Couldn't be any worse than the self absorbed, obnoxious Lyon bloggers. "We're the greatest, we're the the greatest".

Anonymous said...

Anything on affc and Bryc?

In general, Westen PA soccer is pretty weak relative to the rest of the region. I'd be worried about the VA team if any of them at all...

Anonymous said...

Not sure why Lyon parents get a bad rap. We played them recently and they were very quiet and respectful. Yes they do cheer for their kids but don't we all.

Anonymous said...

3:28 you're just jealous

Anonymous said...

The Virginia team are very good, seen them at wags and they were playing a beautiful passing game against a top Maryland team

Anonymous said...

I find Lyon parents to be very self absorbed and they completely lack any type of soccer IQ

Anonymous said...

7:34 - It is not only the Lyon parents that lack soccer IQ. You have touched on an issue with many teams. How can people that have watched so many high level soccer matches not take some time to understand soccer. "go" "get the ball" "shoot it" "boot it" "run" "why isn't anyone there"

Anonymous said...

254 - 03 parents are more concerned with having to compete against the rage 03 girls for starting spots.

Anonymous said...

Aren't all parents self absorbed when on the sidelines? Name one team that's not?

Better yet - name a team you would consider having the Most Magnanimous Parents.

Anonymous said...

912 The best players on rage are 03,so if you combine 03 galaxy girls= solid team

Anonymous said...

There is self absorbed and then there is 11 on a scale of 10 self absorbed. We all have come across those delightful parents.

Anonymous said...

2004 Goalies. Are their any good ones out there? Who has the best goalie training included in the tuition?

Anonymous said...

I know the barons offer goalie training to there keepers for free if you are in the club

Anonymous said...

Most clubs claim to offer keeper training, but its few and far between. The training usually consists of an evening once or twice a month for an hour. Most "primary" position keepers do private training on the side. Their are a handful of keeper academy's in the state. If your asking who the best 04 goalie is in the area? Good luck with that answer!

Anonymous said...

CRUSH - for keeper training

Anonymous said...

2:19 PM

"(So and So) is weak" is not analysis.

Anonymous said...

2004 is too young of an age group to rate GKs. Many do not have experience playing 11v11 on a large field. Growth spurt is just starting or hasn't kicked in yet. Many good GKs are not even known because they are not on high visibility teams because there has not been an emphasis on GK skills in tryouts. Many passed over field players end up being good GKs as they mature and advance into the middle and high school years.

Anonymous said...

There are some decent 04 keepers but the game from 02/03 to 04's is wider than the just one 1 year suggests...

Anonymous said...

CRUSH if you have the CASH. Most expensive club in the state.

Anonymous said...

This ain't tennis/golf. stay in your car if cheering Makes you squimish.
Trump/Christie 2016

Anonymous said...

Watched the 03/04 keepers train at US Training today at Monmouth U. Five girls I assume cover both age groups. Two of them where very tall and stood out. All were very strong in net defending against the best shooters in the state. Would kill to have one of them for my daughters team. Was told 4/5 will be in Richmond this weekend. Looks like NJ is stacked with elite goalies. Good luck to all teams in Richmond this weekend!! Make NJ proud!!

Anonymous said...

Where do the 04 goalies at the Training center play?

Anonymous said...

Where do the top '04 goalies play? In the center defender role.

Most of the ones there right now will get replaced by field players that take up the position much later. Not enough game sense or foot skills acquired when specializing this young.

Stay on a team that lets you do both, no matter what they tell you. No, you will not get a scholarship. No, you are not Hope Solo and Tim Howard's lovechild. No you are not the second coming of Hope Solo or a shoe-in for the national team.

They tell you those things because a too young specialized keeper boosts a team up a notch or two or three. It makes them win with a weaker team, and then they can recruit better field players. They won't love you back in a a few years. They will replace you. If you have it in you to be a superstar goalie in the long run, then you have it in you to be great field player now.

That being said, Just for Keepers is best for training. Some clubs' training isn't worth it. PDA is probably best for the clubs.

Anonymous said...

PDA is for Trump. Perfect. He has been great for NJ - especially Atlantic City. And an inspiring figure for young girls. Maybe when they grow up they can aspire to parade around on stage in heels and a bikini to try to win a pageant and make a buck.

Anonymous said...

If 4 of the the 2004 goalies at training center are headed to Jefferson then they probably play for one of these teams: Voorhees, SDFC, TSF, Real NJ, Middletown, SJEB, NJ Crush, FC Copa, NJ Wildcats

Anonymous said...

If there are 5 2004 goalies there, does that mean that are 55 2004 field players or are there more?

Anonymous said...

No way there are 5 2004 goalies 1 or 2 tops and there just a few 2004 field players.

Anonymous said...

@10:31 - love it, spot on, fully agree.
We clearly have an 04 goalie mommy/daddy phishing for acknowledgement.

Anonymous said...

Safe travels and good luck to all jersey teams at Jeff cup this weekend.

Anonymous said...

I think that US Soccer or NJYS should enter a rule banning tryouts until after Memorial Day weekend. There is no good reason for kids having to try out for teams in April that don't play together until August.

Anonymous said...

1:24 that's not true. My child's club starts in June playing together so Try outs after Memorial Day is a no.

Anonymous said...

Is it true that Voorhees is gonna merge with rush.. Just curious so I don't waste my time and go to those try outs seen enough daddy ball..

Very talented teams at Jeff Cup. Watched some good soccer today.

Anonymous said...

Clubs don't really use tryouts to pick their teams so it's not that important when they do it. Tryouts do tend to be when official offers go out, and some clubs like to box out their competition by being early.

Anonymous said...

I would like to ask a question and hope to get an honest opinion from a parent who might understand this a little better than me...

My daughter is not at the level like many players out there but she plays on a competitive team that plays in a good edp league and may not win a lot of games but the team does compete vs most of the teams. I asked our coach why we did not attend the disney tournament during the winter and recently the jefferson cup which many of the teams we face, both attended. The answer I received shocked me, but made TOTAL sense... Many of these coaches who coach these teams go to these high level "sleep away" tournaments bc it's a vacation for the coach. Coaches don't pay for the flights, the hotel, the rental car, the food, etc. When I heard this, it made total sense. Second- our coach mention, if you are not in the top flight (8 teams max) why would you bother. Our coach has us playing scrimmages- 2 a weekend, vs boy teams that are quicker, stronger, faster, smarter and the games are 15 minutes away from my house. Wow- makes sense.

I am new to all this and when I continue to hear about teams attending all these HIGH level tournaments as such a young age, it made me mad that our team, who can compete, does not attend these type of tournaments.

My question to you parents who go along with this would be, what kool aid does the coach serve your sideline? Why travel hours and hours away for something that is pointless. If you lose ONE game in these tournaments, the chances of your team making it to the final is slim. You just spent $400 on hotels, $300 on food, $250 on gas for what? 3- 60 minute soccer games? You can find the same competition 20 minutes from your town. Now I understand that tournaments matter bc of GOTSOCCER points but does it really? Just wait until your team is U15/U16 to attend showcases and whether your team has 0 points, if you're good enough, you're good enough and will get noticed.

I hope parents get off the TOURNAMENT train and realize what you are doing. Ask your coach what is the reason of going to these tournaments at such a young age. Why you are traveling 5-8 hours away when your teams is placed in the 3rd-8th flight in the tournament. See what your coach says when you told him that you spent $2000 dollars in 3 days and there's nothing to show for it but a medal- there no coaches watching. There no scouts. 85% of the teams that attend these tournaments are in a 25 mile radius of each other.. there should be a rule. Don't travel outside your area unless you can beat everyone by 3 goals. Then you prove you're worthy and must travel to get some competition.

I'm glad my coach was able to teach me like he teaches my daughter or else I would be driving home from Virginia in 18 hours for no reason..

no one forces anyone to attend a tournament. If you're scrimmaging boys, why isn't your team good enough to qualify for the top flight?

Your coach is an idiot and so are you. It's a "vacation" for a coach to leave his family for three days because he gets a free hotel stay??? Your message got bad at this point and went downhill from there. You make absolutely zero coherent points.

What is happening to Middletown at Jeff Cup? Getting embarrassed in the 4th flight. Another town team that had reached its peak. Otherwise NJ is well represented

Anonymous said...

The same post on the U14 board. Agree with 10:10. I do not agree with some teams that play 10 tournaments a year. But 4-5 is fine, builds team unity, kids love it, and I get along great with the other parents. We played one even in the fall and 2 or 3 this spring we'll have to travel to.

What're are the Aztec supporters now?

Aztec 0 PDA 3

PDA Lyon 3 Dallas Tx. D'Feeters ECNL 0

Anonymous said...

All those soccer experts that questioned Lyon's schedule, playing up etc against older girls was wrong...SDFC, Voorhees blah blah blah. In two weeks they shredded U12 soccer.

PDA Lyon and BRYC (VA) take the Jeff cup top flight winners medals.

Can't say I'm surprised to be honest

Congrats

Lyon proved what most people knew, they are clearly the best team in NJ. Not close really.

Anonymous said...

There is no question Lyon is an exceptional team. I don't think anyone would disagree. But that should not mean we can't talk about other good teams too on this blog. Lyon might be better but that does not mean every other team in NJ is bad. They are just not as great as Lyon. Nothing wrong with that as long as daughters are thriving, enjoying themselves and forming great friendships with their teammates.

Anonymous said...

why we talking about Lyon at all? keep having your success by smashing teams at U12 this spring- 90% of your team is 03 birth year (and the better players are as well) you wont even make the 03 PDA team for next year. PDA GALAXY, NOVA, SHORE, CREW are all U13s that have 03 birth year. Only 2-3 players from lyon MIGHT have a chance

Anonymous said...

Good representation for NJ soccer. Glad the state could hold it's own against some good teams. Give credit when it's due. Results speak for themselves.

Sound like a hopeful Crew parent. Good luck. You guys looked good out there this weekend.

9:09, what a hater. Pathetic. BTW, that team is not 90% 2003s and the 2003s on Lyon will do fine when compared to the 2003s on Galaxy. Guarantee a large percentage of the U14 ECNL team will be Lyon players, my guess is 50%. Numbers work as Galaxy is more heavily weighted with 2002s than Lyon is 2003s. The U13 south team may factor in that.

Anonymous said...

To 9:42. Lyon is 60% '03 and so what? All age groups still represent one year. Are you going to knock successful teams under the new calendar year grouping because they are 90% pre- July birthdays? The Lyon '03s will be fine.

Anonymous said...

PDA with 27 goals scored and only one allowed in the top two early-season tournaments around is kind of silly.

Let's be honest, they have some real good players but that goalie just shut out the entire Jeff Cup top bracket!

PDA Lyon will win

Your PDA team was handed a gift from the CSA Torsion team on Saturday. The scoreboard did not reflect the completely outmatched speed of play and technical dominance our girls brought to you. With at least 80% possession we unfortunately did not find the back of the net though having 4 times as many shots as your team. Your goalie was outstanding. Your style of play was kick and run boot ball. Your brutal and dirty play was deplorable. You received 4 yellow cards, 2 of them to one player with no red card to follow, due to a teenage referee unable to control the game and a coach that chose not to control his players getting out of hand. That's OK, we move on, and everyone that watched that game, and TAPED IT, knows the class and technique that North Carolina brought to the game well outweighed whatever it was that PDA thought they brought. Everyone gets lucky every once in a while. Good luck at your next MMA match. Looking forward to seeing you in Texas in June, if you make it out of your State Cup. You should have no problem with that with all of the inferior match ups in NJ right?

Anonymous said...

They scored 9 goals on the weekend and allowed Zero as in (0). What are you talking about?
Talent in New Jersey? More in NJ than the entire region you guys play in!

Good luck as you just wait for CASL to take over your age division like it does every other NC age division.

Anonymous said...

3:01. Can you get someone to post a video of the match and share the link. Would be great to see if your evaluation is realistic.

Anonymous said...

I'd like to link to video also! Is it on Youtube yet?

Anonymous said...

See you in Texas...

3:01 Sean, glad you got that off your chest. Must have been a really really really long ride home to Charlotte stewing over the loss. Hope you feel better now. You have a decent team, possession was really good. You need some stronger forwards to be competitive. You are right about the officiating, however, calls went both ways. Feel free to lodge your complaint with Jeff Cup administrators. Have a great season buddy! Send me your email and I'll buy you a Jeff Cup shirt to dry your tears.

NJ > NC in soccer. Sorry Bubba. You guys are lucky it was only 2-0. Sore losers are interesting.

Now if PDA hadn't run through the rest of the field like Swiss cheese, maybe you'd have a point. But you don't considering.

Lastly, to diss NJ soccer talent is silly. No one can argue NC produces more than Nj either in pure numbers or in overall elite talent. New Jersey is better and your post doesn't show much of the supposed southern hospitality you guys are know for.

Anonymous said...

CSA Charlotte Slow At soccer…Seriously - decent possession style soccer but no athletes out there. Bunch of good kids that may not play really elite level soccer as they get older because they are slow a foot and there is not much you can do to remedy that. Sorry.

Anonymous said...

CSA moaner - your post is worthless without a video link....Waaaaah.

It's awesome that you're trolling a NJ soccer blog all the way from Charlotte. LOL.

Anonymous said...

Your director of Coaching at CSA has been alerted to your shenanigans...

There's a rat on the board!

Nobody likes a tattle-tale.

Anonymous said...

I have to agree with CSA troll. I watched the PDA/Aztec game and Aztec was by far the more skilled team. Lyon plays kick and run. They were bigger and faster. Aztec had a goal called back off a direct kick. Ball sailed right over the goalies hand. Ref calls it a goal. Goalie throws a tantrum and complains after realizing she should have saved it. Ref reverses his call.

Anonymous said...

Let CSA boy be. Obviously got his tidy whiteys in a bunch. Need to see the video!!

Anonymous said...

Aztec far more skilled? Interesting. They lost 3-0. Didn't see the game but come on. That's a huge loss at this age. It's easy to talk smack after a game.

Anonymous said...

Well - here goes...Despite winning 3-0 final in one of the most competitive tournaments anywhere, PDA got dominated by the Dallas Defeaters ECNL team. No for real...Their players were faster at dribbling and passing and they used their big goalie to block shots. Then they booted the ball with power in the net 3 times! They did all that in just 60 minutes too! If they had 80 minutes they would have used these kick and run tactics to win 4 or 5 zero. Defeaters should have won if PDA didn't use all those things to win!

I like the old haters who just talked about PDA playing up stuff and the not going to any good tournaments stuff. These guys crying about getting beat 3-0 in a 60 minute game are just insulting to the hard work those players from PDA put in to be the best.

Anonymous said...

Aztec is coming to the Pda kickoff. Look out jersey teams. They'll be looking for revenge. Just give them the trophy now.

Anonymous said...

You sore loser from Boston to NC kick and Run
Does not win games talent does get over it you
Will be OK bubba!!

Anonymous said...

I find it funny how people DARED PDA to go to Jeff Cup. They won. They worked hard and it all paid off. U can hate as much as you want, but PDA won and there is nothing to change that. During the Aztec/PDA game, the ball went over the net. The game's over, stop acting like children. You're grown adults. Instead of whining about other people's children, FIX YOUR OWN.

Anonymous said...

At the end of the day, Lyon went home with a big shiny Jeff Cup trophy. All the teams they played great soccer, but come on, 3-0 wins at this level of soccer is pretty good. good luck with the rest of your season.

The sore losers can spend the next 3 weeks hoping that Lyon loses out at their home tournament. I hear the CSA coach maybe starting a group therapy session.

Anonymous said...

Funny, when Lyon loses 1-0 to South Shore, they just get back to training, not jump on the Internet to moan about yellow cards, bad ref calls or optical goal illusions. Congrats on representing NJ soccer.

Anonymous said...

Agree. Not a Pda fan or parent but I'll give credit where credit is due.

Anonymous said...

With respect to NC soccer, just remember that Cary actually stands for "Containment Area for Relocated Yankees", so the whole southern hospitality thing is bogus. The attitudes are no different than in NJ.

Anonymous said...

Aztec- instead of complaining about your loss, focus on training and maybe you'll actually beat pda at their tournament.

Anonymous said...

not a parent of either team, but watched part of the Aztec - PDA game. The free kick goal from Aztec that clearly went in (a beautiful upper left hand corner shot) and was later called a non goal was one of the craziest and worst calls I have ever witnessed. Roughly 10 people around me saw a clear goal and watched the goalie talk the ref into thinking it somehow went over and somehow back inside the net. Shocking.

Anonymous said...

You forgot to mention that Lyon scored a goal in 15 seconds at the start of the game without a Aztec player ever touching the ball lol!!! Like in Rec level soccer!

You guys are so jealous - it's gross. Do you realize if these were 80 minute games they would have been 4-0 or 5-0! Give it up!

BTW - the ball went over the cross bar and was sitting on top of the net. Your talking magic trick - Voorhees Dad?

Anonymous said...

Not s PDA parent or hater.

Perspective on the PDA Lyon performance. They scored 9 goals and allied 0.

SDFC AND VOOrHEES - combined - scored 2 goals in 6 games, one each. Think about that.
They also allowed 5 in.

My question is who is the new #2 in New Jersey?

I have to Say it's Bergen Bulldogs based on this season's performances...

Anonymous said...

9:52. you are so right. I was there and heard the Lyon goalie tell the ref "that is not the goal you are looking for".

The force is strong in that one.

Anonymous said...

where are the Bergen Bulldogs playing this spring? I did not see them listed for edp.
PDA Lyon is a big step above the rest of the team's right now and it would have been interesting to see if anyone could eventually have caught up to them, but everything is about to change for next year so we will never know. Let's enjoy the spring and watch our daughters play the game. It would be great if instead of bashing teams we could actually be positive more often!

Anonymous said...

With all due respect, soccer is a sport – a contact sport. Many teams (PF, SDFC, CT) – all complaining that bigger faster teams are beating their painstakingly mastered, intricate, tiki taka style. If your child is a small, slight, or not real speedy kid, maybe put her somewhere where she can succeed by master movements in things like dance, lacrosse or field hockey.

It reminds me of this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YyBtMxZgQs

Anonymous said...

Are they complaining, or are they just commenting about their kids being beaten by bigger faster kids? Big difference. We say that but we aren't complaining. Rather we are recognizing what is beating our girls and we know they need to adapt or they won't be able to compete. You are right, soccer is a contact sport. I am always impressed with the players who are skilled and fast and can also use their bodies to further enhance their games.

There are nine penal or major fouls. These fouls must be committed intentionally and may result in a Red Card”. The fouls are as follows:

• Kicking a player.
• Jumping up at a player.
• Charging a player in a rough way.
• Charging a player from behind.
• Tripping a player.
• Hitting or spitting at a player.
• Pushing a player.
• Holding a player.
• Handling the ball. (Except by a goalkeeper). This foul is called if the player is trying to control the ball with his hands or arms.

@ 8:42 Just saying there’s a lot of nastiness that is unnecessary around this issue.

Parents have spent years and thousands of dollars to develop these skills early in their kids, thinking they will be the next big thing. Now they think their “growth spurt” will put them back on top.

These families can be really crazy – practically stalking kids, spreading rumors to coaches, their kids trying to injure others or not pass the ball – all to thwart the big athletic kids that are starting just now to specialize in soccer. Meanwhile, their kids get overuse injuries trying, in vain, to keep up.

It’s like in basketball – you can’t coach height.

Anonymous said...

@9:09

Are these for youth players? Parents even dumber coaches go off about how "that's a red card!!!", when kids rule give them a little more leeway. They are learning. They catch the ball in the box reflexively. Do things accidentally. It's a warning, penalty shot, yellow at most.

There's also ref opinion, which may not be the same as an interested parent.

Anonymous said...

OK. So let me get this straight. PDA really got dominated in every game they played this weekend. LOL.

Anonymous said...

9:22 Red card if player does those things intentionally. Sure it's a ref's opinion on reflexive or intentionally. Open hand pushing if reflexive for any reason should be carded at all ages. I can see yellow card for warning then red. Since when has open hand pushing been an example reflexive response? Their shouldn't be leeway; 11 and 12 year olds know exactly what they are doing when they charge, hold, push etc. Thinking it's accidentally is an insult to the players intelligence.

Anonymous said...

In a youth game, I think the best refs are mindful of helping the kids learn the game. Most cards, but not all, i have seen presented are given after a player has been warned

Anonymous said...

even if the kick was a goal, u still would've lost 3-1! stop being sore losers and move on
