U14 Girls Youth Soccer

This is a time when players develop a true love for the game and the focus is a little more intense, on the field and on the sidelines...

Straight from The NJ Cup website - pay close attention to #2:

F. MISC. REGULATIONS
1. Inclement weather - In case of severe weather that begins after the start of play, Cup officials in consultation with referees may reduce the length, postpone, conclude, reschedule, relocate or cancel any game. Games terminated after the first half is completed will be considered a finished game and the score will stand. Games terminated during the first half will be considered a 1-1 tie regardless of the current score.
2. Protests - There are no protests. Cup officials reserve the right to decide all matters pertaining to the Cup and Cup rules and regulations. The judgment of the Cup Director is final.

Anonymous said...

He attempted to give them a victory they didn't earn.

Tryouts are almost complete. Lets do a survey!

Has it been a good tryout season?
Thumbs up = my daughter is happy with team invite and committed!
Hmm = Have yet to decide, but pleased with options!
Thumbs down = daughter got cut, not happy with options, or team is falling apart.

Anonymous said...

What was the mistake?

Anonymous said...

9:40 you can't be that ignorant can you?

If the ref made a bad call during the first half that benefited STA and PDA protested because it was unfair to them, should the game be replayed as well? It's a never ending circle. It sucks but wrong decisions are made by refs all the time, by not accepting defeat, you just taught your little Suzy a terrible lesson - that if she complains hard enough, she'll get her way. Great job mommy/daddy!

Anonymous said...

I give it a one thumb up! Didn't make her first choice but very excited to join her second choice!

anonymous said...

STA - PDA game was not a judgement call by the ref - that was appealed - it was black and white missed rule call. PK rules state they are FIFA rules, and the ref disallowed a goal without a retake not because of unsportmanship. Blatant rule call blown. That is why they were retaken.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for chiming in Bob - You continue to show how much of a joke you are.

Refs make errors all the time.

Anonymous said...

The referee made a clear error in my game; can we replay the game . . . it's a slippery slope. At the end of the day SDFC and CSA are the best two teams by a wide margin.

Anonymous said...

PDA/STA - the girls moved on already. Parents should do same.

Anonymous said...

should of moved on after the initial result...

Anonymous said...

And you should move on now

Anonymous said...

I'll decide when to do that

Anonymous said...

It's U13 soccer, get over it already, it's pathetic.

Anonymous said...

CSA a best team by a wide margin, lol, thats funny! What lemonade are they giving you to drink at CSA. VERY VERY FUNNY!

Anonymous said...

6:22 you have an axe to grind - or don't know soccer.

Anonymous said...

Semifinal results from cup?

Anonymous said...

Wash vs tbaa in final

Anonymous said...

Congrats to them, how about the top flight?

Anonymous said...

Yellow vs stallions

Anonymous said...

what was score?

Anonymous said...

6-1 yellow and 1-0 stallions

Anonymous said...

Wrong. 4-1 SDFC and I believe it was 2-1 Stallions

Anonymous said...

Anyone know the score of the final?

Anonymous said...

SDFC 3-0

Anonymous said...

Stallions lost?

Ahhhh.... too bad....

Anonymous said...

Stallions were off their game on Sunday. Usually give SDFC a better fight and only lose by 1.

Anonymous said...

9:34 - Maybe yellow raised their game this spring. They had three lopsided wins.

Anonymous said...

At least there weren't any protests. Ooops, sorry I meant "appeals"

Anonymous said...

11:27-They beat up some bad teams. Congrats.

Anonymous said...

Out of curiosity, if all those teams were bad, which teams are good? The Pda teams that are too chicken crap to play in the cup for fear that they might actually lose a game in the state like Barcelona did? Are there any other good teams in the state?

Anonymous said...

Curious what everyone is thinking about DA at this age (2004)? CSA vs NYCSC vs PDA, the whole concept in general.

Anonymous said...

CSA??? Come on! DA will take time and doesn't mean a thing at this age? But PDA will be the power house on the girls side. They always have been and between DA and ECNL they have it all. CSA doesn't even have a successful girls program and is hoping to bring together decent teams from tryouts??? PDA doesn't even have to look outside their own program to build these teams and eventually the best players will end up at PDA. How does anyone think CSA will be successful on the Girls DA side when they have never been proven successful on the boys side. Red Bulls for the boys and PDA for the girls. Always has been always will be!!!! Their programs are run the right way with great coaching that stick around for the long hall! Don't waste your time or money at CSA. Other local programs will get you further then CSA!

Anonymous said...

The boys want nycfc if they can get it. Always is not a useful word to use about anything youth soccer related unless you mean always changing.

Anonymous said...

GDA needs to maintain a level of super selectivity to achieve the objective of developing world class players. Tryouts for GDA should be invite only, the number of GDA programs kept to a minimum, and players should be able to billet so they can live and go to school near the facility.

Anonymous said...

Nycfc made a smart move by deciding to run a GDA. Lots of families have boys and girls involved in the sport and appreciate nycfc's involvement in the girl's game.

Anonymous said...

A soccer boarding school would exclude even more talent from the game. Who can afford that?

Anonymous said...

A billet system is different from boarding school. US Soccer or the club pays a family to house the player. That would add players to the program.

Anonymous said...

Still.sounds like adding costs of reducing costs.

Anonymous said...

Meant sounds like adding costs and not reducing costs.

Anonymous said...

You do realize by having the mindset that PDA is the only game in town is exactly the narrative that PDA wants out there.

Anonymous said...

There is so much soccer in New Jersey. I'm just stating fact since I have been around all levels of New Jersey soccer for 30 years. And no I do not have a player at PDA! No comment on the boys Red Bulls? Like I said its just facts! Many players from all levels of NJ soccer have been successful. I'm just sick of listening to not knowledgeable people on this blog trying to convince themselves and everyone else that their daughters are the best because they make "CSA" and most likely played politics to make that happen. You deal with the devil you will get burnt. If your daughter is that talented and that committed to the game of soccer she can play wherever makes her happy now and by the age of 16 an organization like PDA will add her if she is that talented. Just make sure you have a great trainer wherever you are and stop wasting your money and burning your daughter out at a young age!

Anonymous said...

Sorry PDA, for players on a budget...the tuition free age groups at the csgda are pretty irrisitable.

Anonymous said...

Someone else drinking funny lemonade that Cedar Stars is giving out!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

So you would rather have your daughter be the 18 th player on PDA DA and pay for her to not play in games over going to CSA DA, having them cover it and her playing meaningful minutes in games?

Anonymous said...

Is that a trick question?

Anonymous said...

No

Anonymous said...

2:49 - The conversation on this blog was about GDA which is supposed to be about finding and developing super elite soccer players throughout the U.S. PDA is the only club in NJ that has super elite girls teams at every age group and does so year after year. My daughter does not play at PDA but anytime they've beaten a PDA team it has meant something. It remains to be seen whether CSA will ever challenge PDA. CSA has no proven track record for developing super elite talent and bought their way in to GDA. It will be 10 years before we know whether CSA can deliver at the super elite level or is just a big club with a lot of very good teams. I am not going to knock them for trying.

Anonymous said...

PDA does a great job for affluent talent. Does a whole lot of nothing for lower income talent.

You don't need to respond about all the scholarships available.

Anonymous said...

Only thing CSA has going for it is Tab Ramos investment. No TR, No DA. CAA hasn't done squat at this age group ever. I'm a town parent and even I know that.

Anonymous said...

Agreed, Soccer, like most elite sports in the US, has a pay to play model. Finances is an area where CSA has an advantage but only because a wealthy club owner is covering the costs. US Soccer is not doing nearly enough to address the costs of youth soccer.

Anonymous said...

If you live near Toms River or south of that, CSA is a decent option. It is better than the Wildcats and the money grab knows as PDA Shore.

Anonymous said...

@ May 12 1:45 pm--what do you mean that they made a smart move by adding GDA at NYCFC? Wondering if this is a worthwhile option for girls or just an extension of WCFC.

Anonymous said...

Meant they can maybe sell more tickets and merchandise and attract advertising. Here families choose between two mls club to support. One runs a GDA.

Anonymous said...

This entire thread makes me so incredibly happy that my classy, athletic daughter plays rugby. What a bunch of crazies ya'll are...

Anonymous said...

1107. Then why are you on a soccer board?
My kid plays soccer-can you direct me to a rugby group?

Anonymous said...

His daughter plays soccer- but the way his daughters Pda parents are- it's like a rugby team.

Anonymous said...

Rugby parent is on this page because it's the most entertaining site on the 'net.

Anonymous said...

Just curious, where do 12 year old girls play rugby in NJ. Although its more likely that 11:07 is from West Virginia.

Anonymous said...

Does anyone know how girls PDA took for their DA team?

Anonymous said...

Wow, SJEB got crushed by SDFC

Anonymous said...

SDFC beat them in the fall too. Not as bad though.

What happened in that game for SJEB to loose 1-6?!

Anonymous said...

It's called soccer sometimes teams have a bad game and you play a team that has a great game.

Anonymous said...

or not....

Sometimes a team is just better

Anonymous said...

Played both SJEB and SDFC teams this spring season and although SJEB team is very good I think SDFC is at another level. They will easily win the EDP league.

Anonymous said...

I have seen both SDFC and PDA Lyon play this year and SDFC moves the ball better and looks more organized. PDA has the better athletes and deeper bench.

Anonymous said...

Don't forget to register for the Liverpool FC summer soccer camp !

Anonymous said...

CSA is a Money grab. The Mens devision does not have one competitive team. The women's teams are not looking very good. I asked as many parents at the second tryouts who the coaches were going to be. Not one knew. Not ONE. I will not just blindly give my daughters development or my money to a club that can't even tell you who their coaches are going to be. I looked on their web page, no coach has been with the club for more than 10 months. Says something when you can't keep your coaches. PDA, PDA south, SJEB and even NJX are better clubs. Its your money and kid!

Anonymous said...

So a billionaire is spending millions on a state of the art facility, to make a few thousand dollars? Your logic is flawed.

Anonymous said...

MFA wins DELCO. Tough ECNL schedule seems like it paid off.

Anonymous said...

Watched my daughter play MFA at Delco...that team is legit

Anonymous said...

well that didn't last long.

Anonymous said...

Mfa now we have officially lost your minds . Pda is all any of you town players should strive to be .

Anonymous said...

How many 04 teams are the Monmouth Cedar Stars putting together for the fall? DA, ECNL, NPL, EDP?

Anonymous said...

I am pretty sure Cedar Stars doesn't have ECNL. I would guess DA and then maybe NPL and if they have enough kids an EDP team. Just a guess though.

Anonymous said...

Great job today Average-Game with your 2005 team. We know they looked better than the other teams even though they lost 2-4 and 0-6. The flair and style was such a pleasure to watch. Ha. #fraud.

Anonymous said...

this blog is pretty quiet. Did SJEB get any better for the 2017/18 season?

Anonymous said...

Any better? As in did they swap their bottom three for stronger players?

Anonymous said...

One of their starters went to pda

Anonymous said...

When does 04 become u14 officially?

Anonymous said...

So who did you see SJEB play? And what exactly made them unimpressive?

SDFC lost 8-0 to San Diego Surf, just wow.

Anonymous said...

phan son ?? what??

seriously, none of these teams are impressive. They may be better and win games. But no teams in this region at this age are "WoW - Amazing"

Anonymous said...

Amazing how fast news travels for girls soccer. Did you watch SDFC v San Diego game? In Texas?

Anonymous said...

They have to play them again in the final.
http://tournaments.usyouthsoccer.org/events/2017-National-Championships/Schedule/13U-Girls/Division+1/

Anonymous said...

11:14 has pretty high standards for 13 year olds. The team makes a national finals and you cannot given them any credit.

Anonymous said...

Watched some of the SDFC v San Diego game on YouTube

San Diego team was impressive. Overall stronger team.
Doesnt mean SDFC is a 'bad team' just isn't at the same level as the San Diego team.

Anonymous said...

Nice job by SDFC finishing 2nd in nationals, congrats and well deserved.

Anonymous said...

Except San Diego Surf is a middle of the road GDA team. They didnt do well at Surf Cup against other good GDA teams (0:4 and 2:5). In order for the very good SDFC team to go to the next level - they should consider GDA, or find higher level competition in the region. They have a good coach - they know where they need to go next.

Anonymous said...

If only it was that simple. The club has to be accepted into GDA program, not just one team and USSDA doesn't make it easy.

Anonymous said...

NYSC got their DA very late in the game - so not impossible. SDFC can merge with CSA - instant gratification. CSA will do anything to stop PDA.

Anonymous said...

The San Diego team finished 3d in the 12 team GDA bracket which is hardly middle of the road. Maybe SDFC is doing just fine where they are. There are paths to development other than GDA or ECNL.

Anonymous said...

3:00 - SDFC really played the Surf ECNL team - not the Surf DA team like someone else mentioned. So the results are skewed. The ecnl team was pulled in at the last minute after being done with nationals - and played only 1 DA game against burlingame - they will play surf cup next week (officially)

http://events.gotsport.com/events/schedule.aspx?eventid=59034&FieldID=0&applicationID=4084327&action=Go

Anonymous said...

No doubt they are a very good team, one of the best in NJ, but it's a different reality out there when they play west coast teams.

Anonymous said...

The Surf DA team was at nationals not the ecnl team. If you check the rosters of both you will see the coaches and players for the DA match who was at nationals. SDFC was not good enough to beat them, but I give them credit for adapting and improving from their horrible loss in game one

Anonymous said...

6:48 - not likely. The DA team would have to fly to texas, then back to cali, back to texas and then cali again to make those games.

25, 26, 27 - texas
28 - surf cup
29 - texas final
29 - back for an evening game at surf cup
31 - surf cup

Anonymous said...

The ECNL (2nd team) played the first two games at Surf Cup, the DA team flew home and completed schedule after Nationals

Anonymous said...

thoughts on the EDP brackets for the Fall?

Anonymous said...

Hard to say without knowing player movement. Looks like most competitive is Central.
More teams, more brackets. Most likely lopsided mafcbes in all brackets.

SDFC will go undefeated again

Anonymous said...

And I thought all the bad sports were in this forum. The Surf mom in this thread brings things to a new level...questioning the existence of soccer outside the great state of California. SDFC folks best avoid reading or responding to this wicked troll.

http://www.socalsoccer.com/threads/usys-national-championship-livestream.3811/

Anonymous said...

You mean like:

"Absolutely horrified that the team that lost 8-0 to Surf won yesterday 2-0. Again absolutely horrified at the lack of meaningful competition at the National level. I hope Surf wins the championship 10-0 no kidding! Roll on!"

Wonder what was going through her head when her team tied that 2-0 loser. Probably that the game didn't matter so why try. The 3-1 loss in the final for SDFC against such a good Surf team is very respectable. More than I can say for that mom. Bet she blew a gasket when it was tied at halftime.

Anonymous said...

I can see why you would think it's a Surf mom, but I think it's just someone who spends a lot of time on a youth message board. Her daughter is likely on another California team that failed to get past Surf, and now SDFC's performance in game 1 somehow proves that all the teams in the the regional league are better than every other team in the nation. Because that's how it works.

Anonymous said...

IF a club has an A and B team, are the A team players considered guest players when they play for B team in a tournament?

Anonymous said...

for tournaments yes they r guest players. in most leagues they are not guest players. Leagues let u play with any team in the club.

Anonymous said...

Which genius from here went on the SoCal Soccer forum to stir trouble. Bringing the value of "gotsoccer points" made you look desperate.

Just look at the difference in YSR and gotsoccer credibility - you can have to look in the mirror sometimes and ask yourself if perhaps the entire Region 1 is not on par with Cali/Texas at this age group - and I do believe that SDFC is the top echelon of Region 1 at this point in time.

Anonymous said...

The post looks like it was saying that the SoCal person is looking at GS points as a determining factor for how good teams are - it wasn't saying that GS is the be all end all.

1 - If you're so worried about what's said on the SoCal boards, then why make the original post complaining about what they are posting?

2 - SDFC is not the top echelon of Region I. Accept it and move on.

3 - You aren't the God of youth soccer forums so stop acting it. People can and will post in whatever forum they want to. If you don't like it, then don't look.

Anonymous said...

Sdfc is going to get crushed in the National league. This is just a new flavor of Kool Aid the coach is serving up. So now they will pay more travel expenses to get beat. And looking at the competition it looks like all the left overs that couldn't make ecnl or da...

Anonymous said...

Does it bother anyone else that both girls in the blog picture have their eyes closed while heading the ball?

Kind of a natural body reaction but I get your point. I actually noticed the girl in the blue shirt committing a clear foul with her forearm buried in the other girl's back.

Whose ready to watch some soccer this weekend?

Anonymous said...

Can't wait!

Anonymous said...

First surprise of the season. Barons beat South Shore in Spirit United final. that's a solid win for them.

Anonymous said...

why is it a surprise? What's the difference between a win and a solid win?

Anonymous said...

Liverpool had a solid weekend.

Anonymous said...

9:53

Because most people would expect SS to beat the Barons. It's a win that you can't say, "well they beat a crappy team". They beat a very well respected team in the region. Do you understand now, or do you need further clarification?

Anonymous said...

Is it your opinion the Barons have a less respected reputation in the region, so much so, a win against a respected team is a big deal?

With a one goal differential, a little clarification on the difference between a "win" vs a "solid win" ????

Anonymous said...

I get it. You are stating Barons has a hollow victories reputation.

That makes your post a bit of a compliment and a dig.

Looks like Spirit was missing some talented teams compared to last year.

Anonymous said...

I get it, you're the kid who got picked last in sports as a tyke so you find solace in over-dissecting things said on a blog. Run along now and leave the commentary to the adults who actually understand the sport.

My daughter has played it of good teams in the area, SJEB beating South Shore is a bit of a surprise. Not saying SJEB is a bad team, but South Shore was an elite team and beating them is a good win.

Anonymous said...

1:17 did you see the game?

Anonymous said...

3:25

Thank you! That's all I was trying to say. I wasn't trying to start any problems. Sad that someone had to try and stir things up. You can't even compliment a team anymore.

Anonymous said...

All this great win conversation is great- but that Liverpool team in setting marks in futility. Liverpool rocks!

Anonymous said...

Liverpool u14 team ????? Never heard of them .

Anonymous said...

Why wouldn't SJEB's top team be entered into the EDP open cup?

Anonymous said...

They aren't. But even if they were, why would that matter?

Anonymous said...

@1:28 i'm thinking they are probably a top team in NJ. They seemed to have improved a bit from last year. They could give SDFC a better game this year. Should I keep giving reasons?

Anonymous said...

Who knows, maybe they got smart and realized it's a joke of a "tournament" that does nothing but cram up a team's schedule.

Anonymous said...

PDA ECNL 3 - MF 0

Anonymous said...

It was 1:0 for PDA. MF playing well.

Anonymous said...

Predictions for the weekend?

Anonymous said...

We win state cup in spring. There are multiple byes in our fall cup and not only did we not get one, we play a team that is really strong in first round and that we just played a rough game with this past weekend. Cup personnel messed up with this draw. Good luck to the field in all brackets.

Anonymous said...

What?

Anonymous said...

They only team that deserves a bye if SDFC cause they won last year. What did you want a easy game so u can say u advance to the next round. Have to win to play stop crying and play soccer.

Anonymous said...

FC Bucks 2 PDA 0. Bet they beat MF too.

Anonymous said...

How did SDFC lose to Holmdel?

Anonymous said...

Holmdel scored more goals pretty simple. It's soccer any team can loose on any day.

Anonymous said...

Congrats to Holmdel! Maybe Holmdel could handle to hot temp better.

Anonymous said...

@5:33, you are an idiot on very level.

Anonymous said...

interesting that pda is no longer the dominating force at this age group with a split. lets see what happens at older age groups. will they qualify for the showcases?

Anonymous said...

5:33 - Not True. Just one more goal.

Dont they meet in the state cup in 2 weeks again?

Anonymous said...

@1:47 - PDA continues to be dominant in this age group. Just look at the u14 PDA DA results. They beat a great Cedar Stars Academy team 4-1 over the weekend suffering their first goal and killing the competition in the other 4 games. They are one of the tops teams in the region.

Anonymous said...

Looks like PDA girls won all 4 DA games against Cedar Stars by a combined 18-1 score. PDA Shore also went 2-0 against Cedar Stars today by a combined 8-1 score.

Anonymous said...

How did that PDA team do last year? Crickets

Let the season play out before you anoint them "one of the top teams in the region"

Anonymous said...

7:44 i was talking about the ECNL team, it seems that the gda team will be tested by PF soon

Anonymous said...

@9:56: Understoo, I thought you were referring in general to PDA @U14 level. In my opinion I still think they are dominant at this age group. As for the ECNL team, they are basically a new team as 80% of the players moved up to the new PDA DA Team. But yes, they seem to be struggling at the moment. But keep in mind that some Teams such as Matchfit and other ECNL Teams do not have a DA Team therefore I assume not much change to their roster from previous seasons.

Anonymous said...

If you watched the PDA - CSA game you would have seen that PDA didn't dominate, the play was even, PDA just converted on their opportunities. Game was much closer than 4-1.

Anonymous said...

@2:01 - Did watch the CSA vs PDA game and what an entertaining game it was from 2 great teams. CSA no doubt looked great in the first 20-25 minutes but PDA slowly took over the game. Yes CSA could’ve scored a couple more goals and unfortunate not to do so but so could PDA. In no way I would say this was an easy game (far from it) but I think the score is properly reflecting what happened on the field. Both Teams were unbeaten until this game and it’s great to see Jersey soccer doing so well. These 2 teams will bring lots of exciting games in the future. I for one can’t wait until the next one.

Other semi final is Morris STA vs PDA Shore. I think winner of this game wins it all.

I would have to say sjeb rush team wins it all. Considering they already beat both those teams this year

Didn’t pda shore suck last season? Whose players did they take?

PDA Shore picked up 3 girls who played up on the Shore '03 team last year as well as another girl who was playing in Zaraphath. All 4 kids have been with PDA Shore since U10 or U11...so I guess PDA does develop some players?

CSA beat PDA 2-1.

Great presidents cup final today. Wall goalie was awesome with probably 20 saves and 5 really great ones. Game finished 0-0 and bordentown won on pks. Congratulations to the bordentown girls.

CSA coaching is good. Much improved performance, let’s see how the other teams perform.

SJEB Rush 3 - pda 1

With SJEB getting GDA next season, PDA will have to improve its training. Maybe even stick to GDA guidelines.
