The 1776 center mid is an '02. Heard she was only leaving if guaranteed starting spot. Not sure she'll get it though.
PF will tell her anything to get her. They want to recruit good players because they have trouble making them

So Holmdel NJX wins the NJ State cup! Congrats. However, by U14 thier kick and run style won't work.

Wow cats win by shutout in final despite playing without their keeper
Stop with the crap about the keeper. The one Wildcats had was quite good.
4:21 That was one person's opinion. On this blog people like to hear themselves talk/complain.
Averbuch has solidified its position at the best in NJ at this time, pardon PDA ecnl perhaps, the Storm team. Would love to see a 90 minute Averbuch - Storm game. Great job by Cats defense, back up keeper, and strikers. 1-0 in OT, no need for the silly pk's. Cats are the best today. But remember the curse. What have you done for me lately. Much credit to the Cats, U12, 14 and 17 in state cup this weekend, that program seems to be working well at the shore.

i don't know if i agree 5:31 there were a number of people piling on and throwing dirt on Averbuch(remember Averboink?} in the fall. They are all very quiet now, LOL.
The Averbuch team is a special group of kids who work and play hard for each other and their coach every game, regardless of the outcome. Many good teams are a toxic brew of kids with the "disease of me" or parents who blow up teams because their kid is not the designated star they believe them to be. These kids believe in each other and the Coach's system, and with a short roster have done a great job over the last two years representing NJ in top tournament and National competitions.

6:16 PM - it looks like they brushed the dirt off pretty well. :)
Much respect for Averbuch.
Is that team staying together next year?
Continenta FC got absolutely crushed in SC with the exception of an equally weak NC Fusion.CFC 1FCV 10NC fusion 1CFC 2Orlando City 5CFC 1
What's your point? The CFC 01 team is done after this season. From what we understand will be come the NPL except for the 2002 players.
Wow backup goalies, no bench, rec players, played PDA C team in the final and they won the NJ State cup. What does that say about NJ soccer?
Averbuch will be wildcats 2002 npl te next year at u15. 5 2001 will move up to u16 npl team 9 2002 are returning next year for u15 npl team.
Guess new players were not rec players after all. Just because some on this vlog denigrated those new girls as reclevel players who would never develop does not make it so. And guess wildcats players are very fit.I also guess the field player really stepped up in goal this weekend.
Wildcats seems like talk of town right now & deservedly so. Have they had their tryouts yet? Dates/location for next tryout?
Just like pda to throw their team and their own players under the bus when they lose. Isn't pda Ajax all alone in 1st place in NE npl and well on their way to claiming that leagues spot in npl finals in Colorado this summer.
So, can we at least agree on this that the top 3 teams in NJ right now for girls soccer in this age group are Wildcats, PDA Storm & MF ECNL? & can we all agree that right now the nod for top team goes to Wildcats? & for BOCA, you are definitely not a top flight team. Sorry, but its not even close.
True that at pda they eat their own
Give Wildcats their due but they are not in the same class as Storm and MF. I will give them best of the rest at this point but a level below the top teams.

And credit for sticking together too. Did any leave and go to other clubs?
Ok I'll give you that if you want it.
Although with a short bench, it is harder to play in leagues that play 40 minute halves with no substitution. I will also say it is harder to manage a team of 20-24 and keep everyone happy and motivated.
Saw a good high school game today - Averbush vs AjaxThen later on two teams put on a clinic - and looked more collegiate - as STA NPL worked a tough fought and pleasant to watch win vs Crush Tsunami NPLCongratulations to all 4 teams

Mf ecnl went home early at Bethesda tourney in November while wildcats averbuch went on to final in same flight 1 bracket That is the only time they hav we played in the ae event this u14 year.
Only time they played in same event this u14 year but other than that no facts for comparing those 2 teams only opinions and talk. Would have to give storm current nod over wildcats based on their win in recent Jefferson cup in same flight 1 as wildcats. Wildcats though are much more dangerous in single game per day competition than tournament play as short roster wears down vs 20 plus rosters over 3 or 4 games in 24 to 28 hours over 1 weekend

Wildcats have nothing to do with storm. Different training methods . Different technical skills and different depth. To compare them is not fair. Wildcats are a good team. PDA is a machine and a brand.would love to see both teams play at this age .The contrast of styles would be fun to watch but i would be surprised if wildcats could hang in there more than a half
8:42am how do STA make top 10? Hasn't STA dropped to SJEB, Real Sounders, BOCA and NJCSA (all of which you have ranked lower).
9:57 NJCSA did not play STA NPL team, it was B team they defeated. But you are correct that they dropped to other 3 and I also think they fall from top 10. Likewise NJCSA has lost to both SJEB and BOCA, which also drops them down. And remember NJCSA uses BOCA players for NPL, another reason to drop them.
Entire njcsa cedar stars whatever you want to call that operation is a hot mess on their girls side
That is why njcsa elite players are moving on from club. None tried out for new cedar stars 2002 npl team and many are going to drop back down club level manalapan team back where they were before going npl.
8:43 you have your opinion and I have minethe fact is the Wildcats slayed LVU twice something like 5-1 & 6-0 who beat Storm 2-0, so to say you wouldn't be surprised. This is soccer and the best team doesn't always win, sometimes the lesser teams just has the ball bounce their way. If we are talking style points Storm the best hands down. Ifwe are talking results it's who had the better game nothing more.9:57 STA is top 4 in their NPL Boca is a D2 team in EDP, SJB got smashed by NEFC and STA was right there with them not once but twice. NJCSA, I'll give they could be 5 instead of 6 the NCS should pull more weight than not being the top dog in their NPL but NJCSA would get crushed by NEFC and that is my opinion. Sorry
I saw Boca play WildCats. Score pretty much tells story. The keeper for Cats did very well, stopping one shot destined for net with her leg. Boca keeper also stopped couple shots going into corner net in 2nd half. May have been only 2-1, but one went right over boca keepers head in first half, but again boca keeper made couple great saves going into corner in 2nd half, so could have been 4-1? boca played real well, it was hard fought. In the end the predicted outcome at US Cup of PDA versus Averbuch. If anything different it would have been huge upsets. I give much credit to Boca, the only Boca team almost ever in State cup play on girls side. And Averbuch beat PDA who was using Storm players. Great weekend, congrats to all 4 teams. Galaxy also only lost 1-0 against Ajax. So that Cats program is running well at U14. Tryouts are year round!
you jersey people analyze every shot in every game. damn.
9:57 ... Mornin my kid was at 2001 NJCSA tryouts tryout looked organized ... So NJCSA are using BOCA players ... NJCSA ELITE MANALAPAN team is going to club level soccer im confusing lol so is BOCA going to be there 2001 team or will it be a brand new team .
In the Region 1 Champions League's final, BRYC beat South Shore on penalty kicks.
PLEASE STOP with all this nonsense. Every club with more than 1 team uses same players with different cards. PDA/MF/NJ Wildcats/NJ CrushWe played them all and know girls who play on more than one team within the club with a different card! It's just a simple fact that it happens and it's all within the rules, just accept it and move on!
11:27...do you know who won the 1776/GB game?
No RCL consolation games were played due to the lack of fields
Same card, 12:54By the way, no Storm players on Ajax yesterday.
11:03. Previously posted that BOCA only has two 01s on the team and two 03s so assuming they go 02 with change.
Yes, Boca playing 02 August 1st effective. Ajax did not use any Storm players? wow. ok
Is BOCA the new NJCSA NPL 02 team?
NJCSA ... Does anyone know how many 01s are on that team ... Whether they will have a team or will it be group of new girls .
Boca Team planning to stay together with current 02's forming 2002 U15 Team next fall. Problem is Boca not an NPL Club so those players will not be able to be seen at NPL showcases unless they set up guest opportunities for individual players with NPL Clubs. Even if they do that is a tough way to show your best game with an unfamiliar group of teammmates when guesting at a showcase.Same will be true of current NJCSA Elite players who move with team to Manalapan, although doesn't seem like they have any top prospects who will suffer as much as Boca coaches daughter who could have played with one of the NPL stronger teams.
12:54 you are funny. Your wrong but we should accept it and move on. Maybe if you keep saying it over and over it will be true.
3:25 ... So the current NJCSA elite team won't be 2001 team for the spring next year ... Will that team have NPL status then for the spring .
Njcsa cedar stars trying to form completely new teams from tryouts to be npl teams at both 2001 and 2002 birth year teams.I didn't see nearly enough talent at tryout to form competitive npl teams in either age group. Also current u15 team doesn't have enough.players to play their league npl games this spring forfeiting games. Not a good situation.
How do you think the teams in the nj state cup final premier group would have faired in the super group flight?
8:10 PM ... Thank you for the info is there a reason why njcsa elite is going back to club team ... How true is it with them building a soccer complex they might be in running for a DA program on the girl side 2017 .
8:58 Take this for what it's worth, knowing the people that run the team... I am sure the 3 headed mommy-daddy coaches want to make sure that their kids play the vast majority of minutes.I don't get it, at this age, if your kid is not a top player by now, then you have to have them focus on non-soccer stuff. To go from a fake, top ranked team... why would you shake it up and go backwards. I think this is a bad idea. DA means nothing if it is run by parents for their own kids.I am sure they are telling the other parent some malarkey that has nothing to with reality.
8:48 I'm laughing at that question. PDA Shore won premier. They wouldn't have made it past first, maybe 2nd round of supergroup. Too many teams that have beaten them in suoergroup- Averbach, Galaxy, SJEB, Real Sounders, BOCA, FC Berna, etc. The supergroup was weak but premier was a rec tournament.
New NJ State ranking 1) Wildcats2) PDA Shore3) PDA Storm4) MF ECNL5) AJAX
10:04 ... Thanks mate ... About NJCSA ... my kid went to there tryouts 2 times out of 3 ... I was curious about not seeing many girls from NJCSA not at there own tryouts also was curious because of them not playing many EDP matches .
PDA Shore used Storm players...and the Wildcats used a Sky Blue player.
I wasn't there but my understanding is that PDA shore won on an own goal scored by the other team. Hard to say they "won" that game.
11:18It's not difficult to figure out. It has already been mentioned that the NJCSA elite team is going back to Manalapan. They are the original Manalapan Dynamo team. Why would they be at NJCSA tryouts??Alot of time for EDP games to finish out so not odd that they have only played 2.
Does it really matter. All these teams will look different next year. PDA will likely get even stronger because that is what they do! Depending on age the girls from all these teams will move around.
7:36 PDA Shore's goalie stood out and won that game.
Plus, more importantly it's just kids playing a game.
Thanks 7:21, I knew that tall girl in the middle looked unfamiliar, but honestly she wasn't very good. All she did was kick it down the field, no skill whatsoever, similar to the entire team. Have a great day!
8:40 What kind of idiot goes on a youth soccer forum and bashes a 14 year old girl? To describe a kid as having "no skill whatsover" is disgusting and says more about you as a person than her as a player.
I always wonder how many of the critical parents on this blog could actually step foot on a soccer pitch and play at least 10 minutes, let alone 30 or more, without dropping dead of a heart attack. From what I observe on the sidelines, not too many, and many do not set a good example for lifetime health and fitness for their aspiring young athletes.
I agree 9:02, was just trolling the group, looking for sensitive girly men like you, thanks for playing!
Oh, and 9:22, fat is one thing, but that grey pony-tail you’re still rocking needs to go, even your own kids are mortified.
I agree @9:22.My daughter played early on Sunday in one of the other finals so I had a chance to stop by the Averbuch - Ajax game afterwards and spectate for a little bit. Both teams played ferociously - anyone who talks trash about either team is a complete jackass, they both played their hearts out. Congrats to the Cats for a great win, but Ajax was right there with them.I was appalled by some of the stuff I heard parents shouting on the sidelines though. It's actually why I eventually left. I didn't even have a horse in that race but it was hard to listen to how obnoxious some of spectator comments were. There is an ugly vibe of poor sportsmanship that comes out on the sidelines of some of these games which is in no way a good learning example for these girls...
Some of the posters on here end up on the sideline, what do you expect?

BOCA parent here. Let me reassure you all, the team is tight. we would rather lose to Averbuch in semi-final than play in the rec bracket, all day. It was only 3-1, we held them tight all game, parents were actually very nice from Wildcats, mixed in with our parents. we play hard, we play the best, EDP open cup continues for us next weekend versus some decent out of state teams. The girls work very hard, all the time. Rarely do you see a BOCA team in top brackets on girls side, but we are, we are trying, we are not hiding. My daughter loves her teammates and coaches, looking forward to top bracket play at EDP Cup Memorial Day weekend.
11:30 AKA BOCA GUYGlad the team has come together, we have all had some ups and downs at U14, my kids team too. What is crucial, is that the girls, and your own daughter especially, has improved as a player, and a person. There is a lot going on in their lives, and to be able to manage all of their other interests, while playing the game they love, is a great accomplishment. BOCA have slowly, but more importantly, surely, clawed their way back into the conversation. Bravo!
@1:13 some nice words for BOCA, thanks. Rare on this board. You are correct in all your statements. Btw we are always trashed on this board, more common than not. All the players are better than they were 2 years ago playing in lowest division of EDP at that time. They have surely clawed their way to playing Averbuch and top bracket on Memorial Day and EDP open cup semi-finals. We are proud, we are learning, and the girls are happy for the most part. Division II is upsetting, however we played Division I in the fall and learned a lot, believe me. We just want to play the best and leave it on the field every time.
My therapist told me to go out and make a difference, to inspire someone you have never met, or may never meet. Hopefully our daughters will compete against each other in the EDP Spring Cup, if so, then it will be in the final, and that is good enough for me, good enough for now, good enough for today. Cheers.
09:22 DIK !!
To anyone at the cats game do you think their backup keeper is better than their usual go to keeper, or is their go to far beyond skill
Doesnt matterAt this level they should be playing half games anyway
Cats player in goal in state cup is a forward who just came on team this spring from colts neck town team and volunteered to play in goal when regular keeper got hurt. She is not a trained keeper and had no previous experience in goal. Wildcats regular keeper sprained shoulder in NPL game the week before Jefferson Cup. She has been out since but is expected back soon, hopefully for FC Delco. She is an excellent keeper who previously played for NJ Force before they folded in spring of U13 year, then she came to Wildcats.
That is a bit creepy sharing so much specific info on an individual. If you share her favorite color and tv show, the whole world will know everything.
The purpose of this site is to share info and opinions not to attack those who post with idiotic childish posts
9:15 Is today the first time you have been here?
Does anyone know out of the top 20 teams, witch teams will be playing U15 and U16 next season?
6:38 Are you asking who is bypassing the BYC and staying together as a team? If they have 01s on team they have to play U16...Otherwise you do know the teams are pretty much splitting down the middle at least right? The 2001 will play U16 and the 2002 will play U15
6:59...there are some teams that are staying together as a mixed '01/'02 team and playing as U16. I believe that is the question being asked...how many teams are doing this? I know 1776 is one of them. I think some of the smaller clubs that don't have the numbers will do this.
I'm asking about the top 20 teams in NJ. What age groups will they be playing next year. My daughters team is splitting up. She is a 2001 playing U15 this year and would like to play U16 next year. Most of the good teams currently playing U15 will be moving up to U17. She doesn't want to move up to U17. She currently starts on a top 20 team and just wanted to figure out what current U14 teams would be going to U16?
8:53- I think the problem is that you are looking at this the wrong way. Most teams are splitting to birth year so it's not about a team playing u16- it's about the girls born in 2001 who currently play at a particular club euther as u14s or 15s playing u16 next year. The name of the team that exists now is pretty irrelevant. You need to find out at a particular club who the coach will be and how many current 3001s they have.
Woooooow, 3001’s, that is trippy, you blew my mind brofessor
I understand that but the team is still relevant in a way of where the team will be positioned to be placed in league play as well as tournaments. So a new team being started under a new name might not be placed as high as a team that has a proven history.
I understand that point. I think in the early onset of this change you'll see teams placed in leagues and tournaments based on the reputation of the club as a whole. After a while, the competitiveness of the individual teams will be more established and everyone should settle in to where they're supposed to be.But more specifically to answer your question (I think), most of the clubs in the top 20 have moderately strong teams at every age group, and nearly all of them will be splitting up by birth year. The only teams that will be staying as is and not breaking up are teams that are outliers in their club. For instance, Boca, 1776, etc...However, you're really late to the party and most of these clubs have held tryouts and formed next year's teams. Good luck.
US Club State Champion NJ Wildcats Averbuch tryouts are ongoing and still have 3 spots open for next years 2002 U15 NPL Team.
Last tryouts for PDA is tonight and Cedar Stars I believe was this week.Everything will start to shake itself out by end of this week it seems.
8:52NJ Crush if its not too far.
Is Cedar Stars keeping any of the old Manalapan players, or is most of the team going back to the Manalapan club with their daddy/mommy coach?
PA talk.Saw one post about a defection from 1776 to PF. Any others? Did PL girls come over to PF? Or did they go to CFC or PAC? How about other PA PAGS teams? Any defections from Ukrainians, LVU, or HMMS? 2002 or 2001?
I saw something posted last week that's been rattling around in my brain ever since. Bear with me here.I find the accusations that a club "does not train, they only recruit" to be, well, BS. It implies that if a stud player had started out as a young player at the big bad ECNL* club, then they never would have received proper training. And therefore never would have been good enough to make the ECNL team at U15. Kind of ironic. Is there any way to prove this? Each ECNL club I know of has a mixture of home-grown and recruited players, which seems to refute this. And at what age must a player join a club to be considered "home-grown"? U7? U10? U13?Don't get me wrong. Many smaller clubs provide excellent training. Sometimes even better than the ECNL clubs, even with the ECNL club's built in advantage of larger numbers and hence more top quality players to train against. I don't dispute this. But this is just a matter of degree, right? No doubt there are some players who need the very best, top notch training from a young age in order to make an ECNL club at U15, but the number of these players, where the difference between making ECNL or not is on a knife's edge, must be few and far between, right? Most would probably make it with merely average or slightly above-average training because athleticism wins out, right?Anyway, the ECNL clubs do provide something that the smaller clubs do not, a place for top talent to gather. Do the smaller clubs simply refuse to do this? Do they turn away new players because they are only loyal to their core from U9? Again, I don't know of any club that turned away a stud center mid because "Lindsay's been our center mid ever since U9, everyone knows this."I bet it's super frustrating to lose a stud to an ECNL club. Very unlucky. But wasn't it just dumb luck in the first place that put that stud on your team at U9?*I don't mean only ECNL clubs. I'm just using "ECNL" as shorthand for any large soccer factory type of club that markets itself as getting their players onto college teams.
Ukrainians lost there best player to the Penn Fusion 01's and had heard similar about 1776's center mid. Was surprised that PF did not keep either of their U14 keepers (both 01's). Two of Pl's players headed to CFC and five to PF's 02 U15 squad. Many of PF's current U14's have left for other teams after being relegated to NPL. With ECNL turnover being so huge and such a large percentage of players leaving (or not making the cut), doesn't it make you wonder why would anyone waste money as playing ECNL in the early stages (12U-14U)? May as well play at another club and pay half the tuition, saving thousands while waiting in the wings to become the shiny new toy on the U15 PF field.
3:58Perhaps i can help. I have experience with ECNL and Non ECNL environments.Ask a specific questions and Ill try to give you a specific answer based on my experienceSoccer Nut
Thanks, Soccer nut.Is the non-ECNL training better than ECNL training? If yes, to what degree? Setting the aside the "shiny new toy" affect that 4:33 metnions (and with which I agree), is a top player better off staying away from ECNL until U15 or U16?In short, is it generally better to start a youth soccer career being a big fish in a small pond?not quite on point, but I'll provide my two cents. My 2001 joined her ECNL team last season. With the BYC changes bringing in so many new players at tryouts, I am very thankful that the coaches know who she is and they've seen her over the course of a full season. She is quietly effective and would probably have gotten overlooked otherwise. So in her case, joining earlier worked out for her. Money well spent.
PDA last tryout was monday.
4:50, this is a little know fact, but do you know what PDA actually stands for?PlayersDeveloped AlreadyI rest my case. Sorry to plagiarize, but it was just so good....
Well played, 5:13. But is it true? And does it matter?
Believe entire NJCSA Elite team going back to Manalapan Club. Not one was seen at Cedar Stars tryouts for new 2002 Team.Cedars Stars girls side leadership has bounced around from every club in the shore area and some beyond, usually leaving under a cloud.
4:33Sorry but i hate false information on here. "Many were relegated?" If you consider 3 many? 3 2001's on the current 01 team were given the choice of NPL. One field player accepted for NPL and the 2 GK chose to leave with that offer. 2 02's chose to leave, were not relegated. Commute may have been a factor there.
Why pay it at U15 when the DA is about to wipe out the ECNL? Save your money this year too.
Wildcats still need 3 players? Why would anyone go there.... Yes, they won! Think people... Why can't they have a full roster??
I know many encl girls that want nothing to do with DA. They'd rather play high school and not give up that opportunity. Some girls, even the most talented, still want to be teenagers.
Surely there will be some who want to play high school soccer but most highly talented players will be signed up for GDA tryouts and if they can make that team I can't imagine too many will be turning that spot down. It won't be easy to make that team.
Where did the two 01 PF keepers from the current U14 team go? I believe one, if not both, of the keepers from the U15 team were also 01's and were very good.
One keeper went to Rage and the other to CFC. Two years of playing for PF and displaced by the next shining star. Such is the life of competitive sports.
8:16 - You may hate false info but you supplied false info. Not 3 but 2 01 PF players were offered NPL but decided to leave. 1 Field player and 1 GK, the other GK decided to leave on her own. Never even showed up for tryouts, so she was never offered anything.
And....the PF 01 field player will be playing closer to home, not NPL
Everyone with their know it all inside information. Kills me. Teams are all different now anyway so who cares. Next year will be interesting to see how everyone looks.
Before the season starts for all these girls they will know if their club is getting the DA for the 2017 season. So girls that jumped clubs for the 2016 season could be moving again for the 2017. To either be in the DA or not.
8:10 let me see if I get this14 no one cares this year because everything will be differentfast forward to 15 OMG no one will care again because the GDA is here.okay maybe two years in the future what 16 and juniors in HS now it's all about the showcase events to get into a school to play soccer and get some money while they are at it.okay okay three years and 17 years old - oh no it's the last year most of these kids will play club soccer no one cares let them enjoy their send offI couldn't enjoy it before because they were to young and results didn't matter it was all about development.Oh snap she's in college and no longer living in the house, where did all the time go, oh yeah i wasn't allow to enjoy my kid playing, things didn't matter because the next year it was all going to be different.sorry for the rant gs4 life
Vote for GS4L because HE CARES!
It's obvious who is a parent with actual knowledge and who is smack talking, mostly to disparage a club...
It's quite obvious when a parent is commenting with actual knowledge and who is smack talking to disparage the club. NJ moms are a dead give away...

8:16 "offered NPL" The GK that went to Continental went there after PF told her she wouldn't have to worry about her spot. One month later after the first tryout, GK's father can't even get a return call from the coach his daughter has been playing for (for two year no less). Obviously she was no longer the flavor of the month once the Lower Merion GK showed up. Put any spin on it you want coach, nothing wrong with what your doing since its business as usual in competitive sports. But at least try to be a little bit honest (at least with yourself)
Is it common practice for a club to ask families to pay all money before the season begins ? I hear SJEB RUSH asking for all money be paid before season begins in November.
LM GK i snot on the team. They went with a GK from the current u15 team and an u14 PF NPL gk.
9:26 - I find that odd but most clubs do want families to start paying something for next season already.
9:29 They want deposit when you accept the spot and payment plans every month up until November, which is when they start the season. I found it odd. I never heard any club doing it.
yeah because season doesn't start for another 7 months a lot of time for players to change their minds
9:36 - like 9:39 stated that is why the club feels if you pay then you will not walk away.
Odd? It iscalled a commitment.Do you want your daughter's team set now - and then when you show up in November you find out 3 of the players went elsewhere?$$ = commitmentAnd commitment = we will see your face in November. No surprises.
4:50Is the non-ECNL training better than ECNL training? If yes, to what degree?" The general answer to that question is -it depends, excellent training is not an exclusive product of the encl., and I have seen poor trainers at ECNL clubs. Trainers that would do great development harm to these young kids. Assuming you know what to look for in a great trainer- I think the right question to ask when agreeing to join any team especially an ECNL team is "how is my daughter being utilized. Is she starting, Imagine a young talented girl not starting on an ECNL club simpy because the club coach perceives another girl to be better at age 8. That child would be better off at another club where she is the center of attention where she is going to play and gain confidence. What position does the coach put your daughter in when she is on the field? (Ever wonder why a father coach puts his daughter in the middle of the field during her development stages?) There is a reason for this.is a top player better off staying away from ECNL until U15 or U16?The short answer is : No. At u15 or u16 because it is harder to break into a team at that age because the coach has its nucleus and he is just looking for certain parts to complete the picture. perhaps he needs a striker or defender or midfielder. If your daughter doesn't fit what he needs then she may get passed up. This of course would not apply to national pool type of players. If you had to pick a time , i would say around u13 or u14 - arounf 8th grade. The coach gets a solid look at your daughter and gets to appreciate the nuances that she bring to the table. She has also built up her confidence base by being familiar with the team. but her position still might be in jeopardy if that national pool player comes onto the team or -which is overlooked, if there is a coaching change and the coach prefers a style that may be a weakness in your daughters game.Soccer Nut
Does anyone pay off a car before they actually get the car or any other product for that matter ? I can see paying a down payment and if you back out you don't get it back. Is SJEB RUSH worried that these girls will back out ? Do you know of any other club that does this ?
A solid club publishes their cost schedule for all to see. I would start worrying when this is not public. Most require a commitment fee and then you follow the payment schedule. Welcome to youth soccer!
I believe the PF keeper who is going to Continental was at Continental through U12 and left for PF after that season.
11;13 you're misunderstanding. The payments are given before season starts. SJEB RUSH doesn't start playing until November, they do not start in fall, so why now are they being asked for money now ? It would be fine if the girls had a fall season, but they don't. I am not sure when they start their training but I am almost positive they don't train in summer.
ECNL clubs do not publish their costs to the outside. It is only when you join the team do you get to see the cost breakdown. They may say it at a public meeting but cost is not posted on any ECNL clubs website.
If you have to ask, you cannot afford it. ECNL is for players with above average talent and well above average bank accounts.
both are not true. Have you ever watched ECNL games?
The soccer in San Diego was gorgeous, 11:41.
Just your average little bank account family going to San Diego to play youth sports. It is for the athletes of well off families.
Offer a solution then, 11:58.
11:58 has no solution other than to continue whining and waiting for someone to fix his problems for him. probably the same moron who says the ecnl kids are not above average talent.
I did not say it was a major problem. It is a minor problem in the scheme of things. It is what it is. There are different levels of youth sports soccer for different budgets. Talented girls get access to high levels if they can afford it. I don't think lower income talent is fundamentally deprived because they can't afford the ECNL. It is not food or shelter or healthcare. Enjoy and appreciate the privilege.
Sort of depends on the team don't you think? East Meadow, PDA, Match Fit ECNL kids yes. However many ECNL teams are simply average and many are not good at all. I know some wish those 4 letters guaranteed superiority across the board but they do not.
Listening to bragging about playing in a league that is unaffordable to so many players is of very limited appeal.
1247What the ECNl provides is a better platform to be seen during showcase years. If most haven't figured it out- this will be there marketing pitch as The DA's take over.A team like continental get to play on this stage and as long as the product is competitive, the ECNL will provide the platform to be seen. tournament teams have to be excellent to play in the top brackets to get a solid platform to be seen.Soccer Nut
NJ Wildcats are an example of a non ECNL team who plays top bracket at all the big tournaments. They just won state cup so regionals and possibly nationals are on their plates. They are being showcased without paying $10K. That's just one example. Given the choice between NJ Cats and CFC for my kid, it isn't one. My kid wouldn't want to play for a team that goes to a showcase and gets beat 10-1 or even 5-1 and I wouldn't want to pay to watch that.
Can you give me an example of what kind of bragging is appealing to listen to?Bragging about a car that is unaffordable to so many people?Bragging about a vacation that is unaffordable to so many people?Bragging about a child's college education that is unaffordable to so many people? The comparison to college is an apt one for ECNL. ECNL provides no guarantees of acceptance to a college team, just as an Ivy League education provides no guarantees of future employment. But both look awfully good on a resume.I went to a state school. I would never begrudge an Ivy leaguer their advantages. They made better academic decisions and were willing to pay more for higher education. Kudos to them. And kudos to the ECNLers. And the future DA players. Who will largely be one and the same.
Wait - here is a better scenario. What if you pay most of the fees for the club, and you are not told which roster or which coach your daughter has until right before the season starts.Would you sign? They do at Copa - and its not ECNL
1:16That sounds like a good option if you can confirm college placement and are satisfied with the training.Soccer Nut
Bragging about a car that is unaffordable to so many people?Bragging about a vacation that is unaffordable to so many people?Bragging about a child's college education that is unaffordable to so many people? All these are pretty gross. "I am fortunate to drive a Mercedes." as opposed to"My Mercedes is great and your car sucks." See any difference?
@8:50pm 5/11, the reason Cats need players is they are sure to only take the best of the best, the best parents, the best players, players who actually care. They want nice girls, nice parents and players who will give it all on the pitch every single time. Cats want players they can work with and want to go to college in some shape or form and at the least play D III, while shooting for D I. That is why. Also it is not cheap, but comparatively to MF, PDA, COPA not too expensive.
May 10 1:37pm. That is funny, hope to see you in final, so you are with NYSC, Barons, PWSI or Calvert? We have played 3 of those, have we played you or what team? I can tell you we would like to replay NYSC for some revenge from last fall 3-1 loss, with pk. Calvert again would be nice with 4-1 loss in league play. Never played PWSI, but they look very good. Barons we seem to own, but always a great game. We just have played them so many times. Anyway good luck, see you on Memorial day weekend.
FWIW, I see a lot more of "Wildcats are great and PDA/MF sucks" than any other kind of post on this blog.PDA and MF by far endure the most attacks.
???? How many lower income players play for the Wildcats? All these high level players should enjoy their opportunities.
1:42 you think the Wildcat parents are nice? There may be a few nice ones but they are outnumbered. Most obnoxious group in NJ.
Cedar Stars started their boys side only a few years ago and they are already on top of their divisions. I heard the focus is now to do the same with the girls side, and in the building of a major new complex and how professional the tryouts were run, isn't that the club to be a part of in the next year or two? The owner spends his own money on getting only the best trainers, doesn't it stand to reason he has no ulterior motive but only to provide the best soccer environment for these players?
2:17 If that is true, why is the "Manalapan" team leaving and going back to their town club?
2;17 So true !!! The parents that walk the sidelines and stand behind our team and the teams that there are playing, making comments the whole game are obnoxious. The coach is highly rude too.
Maybe that is the real reason they can't fill out their roster?
2:17- But there Players are a lot better than yours.
I don't know anything about Cedar Stars, I'm just asking the question based on what I've heard on the boys side from friends who have boys and what I've heard / read the focus to now be on the girls side. I have no idea why the Manalapan team left, but was it because they were asked to or no longer wanted to be a part of CSA? It does seem odd why a top ranked team would leave and then go back to being a club status as someone else wrote. Being new to this soccer thing in Jersey I'm just trying to follow what everyone is writing about and trying to figure out who is just a misguided parent and who actually is in the know with Jersey soccer.
Agree with 2:17 - I have been at some of those games and those parents were shouting awful things to their kids, didn't sound all that nice to me.And I have heard they have had poor showing at their tryouts, which is why there are still roster spots open...
Cedar was promised certain things and the club didnt come through?Just a guess. But I am sure their turnout was good at tryoutsThat team was limited anyway.
Looks like its back to attacking parents of successful teams on this blog.Thought we were past that after U12.Your little Suzie's Team gets beat so the parents attack the winning teams parents?
Ignore them, it is just sour grapes.
@3:24- can you name the teams in this age group that have multiple state championships?
You just made 3:24's confirmed observation, 4:31. That's awesome.
Can anyone name the team that has recently won multiple minor league world series titles?
Enough with Championships, Rankings, Regionals. I hope many of you know many parents on this blog have players headed to HS or going into a pivotal year of recruiting as sophomores. If you are really interested in just winning medals for you dd to put on a wall you may want to re-think that agenda. I for one have chosen go to a club that provides the highest % of my dd to play collegiately and want to give her that opportunity if she wants it. PDA had 24+ players who are graduating this spring headed to D1 schools that is most in any club NJ/Region followed by the NJ Stallions and Matchfit. Even Graduating year of 2017 PDA already has 20+ players committed to D1 schools. So I ask you this ask your little suzie to pick 3 schools she may want to attend and tell her to look at roster's profiles you wont see many boasting they won a state cup, Open Cup, etc. at when they were at U14/U15.
@4:52 - I don't know, Dolly's version may be better, all but not original. Dolly's has a bit more Mediterranean influence through the mandolin. However, compare with:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tPcc1ftj8E
@5:09 - It's the old chick and egg debate. Are they at PDA because they are D1 quality, and PDA simply aggregates the D1 quality players therefore showing a large graduating class going D1, or did PDA make them D1 quality. Said another way, would they have made D1 regardless of where they played.
I think I've come around to thinking that you find the best training possible up until U14 or U15 or so, and then send them to a club that "gathers" the best talent (PDA, PF, whoever) in order to see how they do going up against the best of the best day in and day out. Maybe learn some tactics playing with such a talented group.
519 That is a question to many I agree or disagree with. It's like old saying if your choosing a candidate to hire from Yale/Harvard v let's say Rutgers not picking on the school just came to my head since they went to the Final Four. Which candidate has the upper hand on the hiring. So I disagree with your statement as PDA makes them quality through there HS years along getting scene at various D1 schools. I cannot agree more with 509 though the next 2-3 years are going to be pivotal years for my daughter so I really need to measure where she needs to be next year.
It's got to be super frustrating to be a Wildcats parent:"We win!" "Who cares? You play ugly soccer.""We win!" "Who cares? You don't place kids in D1.""We win!" "Who cares? Your parents are obnoxious.""We win!" "Who cares? Your coach says "Hit the hole!" a lot."I feel like Wildcat fans are looking for something from this board that the board is just not willing to give.
Nothing against the wildcats they have done a great job winning and succeeding the past several years. Congrats! But 5:09 makes a valid point if you start looking at the older blogs it's college recruitment going forward for many of you 01's.
4;09 Sorry I'm not attacking you because we lost, as a matter of fact we won, we beat you 4-2 in NPL . I was making a comment about the obnoxious parents that stand behind us during game, instead of being on their side with the other parents and continue to make disparaging comments. I guess your coach teaches you that. He's been like that for years.
And Wildcats cost just as much as PDA or MF. The annual tuition is about the same and they do about the same amount of travel. The difference is the Wildcats families pay thier coach about $5,000/ year forMandatory training.
You can't just blame the loud and obnoxious parents. You have to also blame the quiet ones from their team who hate their behavior but never tell them to settle down. You need to police your own sometimes.
4:09 Stop deflecting. No one is taking away from the girls. They play hard and have had a lot of success, but the parents have to own it. Most obnoxious hands down.
So the biggest issue with soccer in the US is the lack of free play. I have lived abroad including in brazil and wherever you go beach, sports store, neighborhood, buildings there is always a pick up game going on. I think i have seen it once or twice in the US. Thats why we are so dominant in basketball. All the creativity and confidence is developed in situations without a coach. In bemrazil they have soccer schools for u16 and below. The sessions are 30 min technical drills and 30 min free scrimmage. Whomever was asking about working on individual technical skills on their own has got no clue. Given there is limited time condotioning can be on your own time. But the more individual skill you build the better off your player will be. Results does not equal skill and im happy if you disagree. Because you are cutting your kids learning in half thus less comp for my kid. As far as making a general comment that ecnl is better training you should realize that many of the best trainers iall over are at smaller clubs. Not saying ecnl club cant have a great trainer you just need to really watch. My kid can learn corner kick and penalty kick formations in college. Right now i want the best technical training possible. I agree for exposure ecnl is the place but if you are trying to develop a player that can compete on a national level there are so many more technical skills to be learned. I also believe having the same coach for too long limits development. If you think about there are 250 skills to master each coach probably has 20-40 of those they can teach. But each coach has a different portfolio of skills. Sorry for the rant.
2:17 ... My daughter was at NJCSA tryouts twice good number of girls were there and it was professional run i must say ... The buzz with parents was DA program and the new building ... I see NJCSA has another U14 but i think they play in maps (EDP) .
