U15 Girls Youth Soccer

U15 young women players are not playing for fun, they are playing to win.

Best to step aside, because they are about to barrel through...

You have to play 3 tourneys. Your options are NJ, FL, TX, AZ, and CA. NJ and FL are no brainers, and it's easy to see why MFA and PDA choose San Diego as their 3rd.

NJ looks in great shape to have possibly 2 teams in the National League 2002 age group. We all talk NJ Wildcats, STA, NJ Crush, MF & PDA but it's NJ Rush Grey (NPL & NL opportunities), NJ Rush Blue & SDFC plus the PA town team HMMS. So your 02s should keep an eye on this situation as well. I'm sure SDFC and NJ Rush were not on the radar but they should be now.

1022 why are you posting u13 info on here. This blog is flooded enough with current u14 info please go back to your small blog of less than 800 post.

I just got home from our ECNL practice for Match Fit. This club is a joke.

This is the 3rd week in a row that there was just one coach in attendance for 2 teams over 40 girls, how is this a good training atmosphere? What is my girl learning when they just play and our coach just sits on the sidelines. What a joke!

Anonymous said...

@11:43 - I was at the same practice and you are probably alone in your thoughts...

There was 36 kids there.. they were playing a rotating 11 v. 11 and my daughter got a lot of feedback and played with many good players.

I am not sure what your agenda is, but you would be better off leaving if you don't like it.

Anonymous said...

Thanks coach. I would agree - it is a joke and getting worse. Money grab - but I don't believe it's much better anywhere else.

Anonymous said...

MF #1 place to be! I am cracking up hysterically

Hey Coach, how many games you attending this spring?

Anonymous said...

36 girls and one coach , usually means the coach has to find something for the girls to do, So they scrimmage. Girls have fun and coach can give some feed back. Not the most ideal situation but its what you have to do when you only have one coach/trainer present.

It should not happen often but nothing wrong with an occasional occurrence.

10:28 You really don't know? The teams in the u13 RCL will be the U15 or 2002 teams in national league - so Very much part of this board pal SDFC and NJ Rush (2 teams) have a shot to play in national league -you see ECNL/NPL are closed leagues -but are not the only options. RCL and national league becoming very much a player in the youth soccer landscape. The u14 division will become the u16 or 2001 division. So since this board is made up of both Why wouldn't it be good for the 02s in PA and NJ to know that u13s can get them a ticket into the national league next year.

MF has an ECNL team like PDA and NPL teams like so many other clubs - they have options for kids -if you are unhappy I agree with 12:38 leave already don't be a cancer

Anonymous said...

5:32 pm

We are leaving, just like many others. To drive up North when all practices were supposed to be down at Raritan is just another lie. To be Cancer, no sorry. I paid over $3000 dollars for a coach and trainer, this is what I expect. Our coach, missed about 8-9 games in Fall (to miss our games to attend NY Giant games, are you kidding me?) and missing this coming weekend as well, plus missing over half our practices. Our practices were combined about 80% of the time. My kid learn absolutely nothing.

5:23 I agree, this can happen once in awhile. To have it happen 80% of the time is just pathetic.

Then we get an email this week stating now there is a chance our team may be heading to Greer SC. Hello stupid, its on the schedule, our team has to go. More money being spent

Match Fit lost 2 coaches already, what is next? Parents are not happy at every age group

Anonymous said...

532 No you don't really know, most of the teams at u13 are made up of 03's and 02's. Sorry buddy but many 03's will not be playing U15 doesn't matter if your talking about RCL league, it's an after thought on here, many parents with kids on this blog on here are headed to HS and game planning for college recruiting so many won't be playing a a fall league. So like I said go back to reality to u13 because your precious RCL teams will be no match to the U14's NEFC, South Shore, and ECNL teams in this world. This blog is filled enough with U14(01/02) info no need to talk about u13 stuff and fill this blog with chest pounding non-sense of u13 whose who.

I thought the penn fusion girls waste their time and money playing odp? Didn't they play in the mighty kick off in nyc this weekend?

Anonymous said...

6:02 - Please go... You think any other club has everyone happy?
Coaches leave as teams get dissolved. That's what happens...
Now you're mocking the wording on an email to the team? Are you that petty?

I am a parent there, and I have NO problem with the changes. So don't include this parent with your generalization about parents. And the majority of the parents I associate with are not even thinking about leaving.

Anonymous said...

You are wrong 7:49, they are leaving MF, many are. And with moving way up north they are definitely losing their footprint in the Shore Area.

Anonymous said...

7:49 pm

Take your North parents and stay, good luck!

Tell me where is the coaching?

Anonymous said...

I have an 02 and daughter will be playing with many of yours next year. When you guys say north, I think of WC. Does anyone know who will be coaching them next year and how the 2002 team will be. I know MF will be close and nothing against this team, just have never heard goods things about the organization.

Anonymous said...

Im glad my daughter scrimmaged today.THEY TRAINED INDOORS All Winter, now its time to get up to game speed. We have two big games next weekend and i think we are ready.I would guess the other coaches had games with the other age groups today.

Anonymous said...

6;30 never said anything about 03s -all i said was the results from the u13 RCL will determine which 2002 teams play in national league.

The 02s from those teams plus the 02s from the below u14 teams will qualify for the national league- no 03s

So yes the current 6th place HMMS EAGLE FC 01 SPIRIT 02s - you know that town team will qualify for the national league if their u13s make the finals and for NJ buds the o2s from SDFC SAMBA from EDP North D2 and their u13 team 02s will also have a shot to qualify for National league if they can make final.

My point is that top 02 kids from other teams that are close by don't need to panic. A PA and NJ town team have a shot so for good 02s it shouldn't be hard to win a spot - these teams won't turn away talent, you can train in your backyard and then have the benefits of a national league - How close is HMMS to LDC, PAC, PL and Penn United? Same for Samba can they actually recruit some players instead of lose players?

Let me repeat the U13 results not teams will determine the 02 national league teams - look into it guys.

Agree keep this blog related to U14 no need to talk about u13 teams and what the are doing. Plus with the BYC RCL may change once again next year may not have U14-18 next fall due to many girls playing HS.

Now for some real talk I'm interested to see what happens up North Jersey as World Class and MF will be battling for kids. Or maybe announcements of Girls-DA may change things even more. I do like World Class Facilities.

808, I would think world class, or match fit would both be good choices. However one is near the bottom of their league the other near the top . What is a better fit for her. You do know how people like to bad mouth your 10 when they are doing well.

Anonymous said...

I hear most of the MF players want to play for PDA.

Anonymous said...

Many people always think the grass is greener.Truth is both top teams have alot of drama, comes with the territory. If you think your kid can just switch teams and keep playing time without earning it,your wrong. These teams are pretty much set until next season.I would look at fc Bucks,CFC or World Class. These teams can use an influx of fresh talent

Anonymous said...

Did HMMS really take down rage that badly? This is the number one team in NJ by a long shot according to GS. HMMS looks like they are on fire and the team to watch.

Anonymous said...

10:04 What are talking about U14 HMMS are not that strong? Comparable to the non-ECNL clubs like PL, PA Classics, and 1776.

Anonymous said...

With the MF move and BYC I think they are in line with players shifting didn't they lose the NT player to PDA this past summer/fall.

Anonymous said...

Yes but will the 02s from those teams play in the national league next year?
The u14 02s will benefit from their younger sisters on the u13 team. Oh how funny will it be if 02 kids left the u14 team for greener pastures at PL, PAC or 1776 and not enjoy the national league next year.

Anonymous said...

Im talking about the u13 team. Most are 2002 and half of this blog. This team would beat most of the current u14 teams.

Anonymous said...

Again most 2002 on this blog are U14's please move back to U13 as this blog is 4700 posts and get's locked at 5K. Please come back Aug 1st to brag. Thank You!

P.S. @ 10:30 Feel free to contact any of the Top 10 U14's to scrimmage then come back and post the result or better yet just ask to play up a year in tournament play. I bet you'll feel differently.

Anonymous said...

Most of the top u13 teams would beat the current u14 teams. My daughter is a 2002 and will be u15 next year. Maybe you should move up a blog.

As I do look back and forth I do agree this is still a U14 blog no need to post U13 info plus it seems like U13 blog is finally starting to get action. The BYC will not go into affect until Aug. and you don't see any U14 people posting stuff on the U15 blogs.

Plus what are all going to do when girls DA comes out when DA teams are bi-annual years.

Anonymous said...

I'm okay with u13 people posting if it's relevant to U14 going to u15. Team compares can wait this is still in season 15/16 for current u14s.

I posted the RCL u13 standings because that has a direct impact on next year's national league for u14 2002s and just wanted to bring to the table the criteria used for next season's national league.

It's tough to keep all players and parents happy on their current team no matter where you play. Players have left PDA for match fit and vice versa. As far as the NT player, I think PDA is a better fit for her, and match fit is better without her. No disrespect intended. Very talented player, hard worker can be a little disruptive if the coach doesn't know how to work with her. Looks like match fit is in first place since she left and if it wasn't for her scoring two goals for PDA in their last head to head match fit would have won that one . Looks like a win-win to me

Anonymous said...

Between the age change, the DA being formed, and the decision to move all ECNL/NE NPL to Denville, it's understandable that some parents will be very upset at MFA. I have had kids at a few different clubs and a younger one who will need to make a decision soon. Short term these moves will probably hurt the competitiveness at MFA, but long term this is a more sustainable model. Was forwarded an email from a friend who has a kid there with the coaches for next year. Pretty damn solid group, I know a few, and know of the rest. All clubs have pros and cons.

Anonymous said...

1:03 and 1:33 agree seems spot on. Don't know about the coaches and that's fine as i'm sure that will be released soon.

NJ Rush Blue looks like the NPL team now -EDP NPL site is a mess and trying to go through their main site schedules is even worse, but I'm sure it's a work in progress. Jersey United has 7 games I thought each team would play each team at least once but some only have 6 games vs NPL opponents. Do they count the Fall games as NPL games? Doesn't seem fair to TSF if NJ rush wipes away 9-0 beat down and TSF has to keep theirs, just saying.

U14 Northeast Conference of the ECNL was back in action while it looks like Stars and PF management team are still in pre-season form. Starting with the Metro Division - PFthe 3rd team in a3 team race will finish up their MA/CT schedule this week assuming they played and won their Saturday game two winsvs CT next week will keep them very much in the hunt for a return trip to CA in June. Theother 2 teams the leader MF and the number 2 PDA both have walk in the park games on Saturday (sorry WC and Delco) before they have a showdown game on sunday a MF win and they are that much closer to clinching the division while for PDA it's almost a win or go home game. The Northeast looks like EM has the division ifthey don't slip more than the MA teams and Albertson who they play this weekend in the battle for Long Island.

Looking at the NPL Northeast Girls league next to piss off our I hate the B team league because having a strong B team league is bad for business guy (my wallet) - really why else hate on a league? Sorry. PDA South pretty much has the #1 seed locked up which might not be a good thingfor them since their 2 ties were vs WC and Boston who might be the 4 seed. With WC out of it in the ECNL and Boston that much closer to being eliminated - you might start seeing more ECNL players playing for the NPL team.
MF NPL plays PDA North in a battle for the #2 seed, the loser might be in danger to dropping as far down as 4th other teams in the race forthe 4th spot are EM and PF NPLs.

The EDP NPL also has some games this week, but as usual the more you google EDP NPL the more confused you get. I will go with the LVU 4-1 win vs TSF will stand going into their game vs SJEB. I ill alsogowith the 9-0 NJ Wildcat win vs NJ Rush will not stand as it looks like Blue is playing for Denver not Grey. EDP also looks like a 4 team race with Nj Wildcats NPL and NJCSA Elite finishing 1 & 2 in the North and NJ Rush Blue and LVU finishing 1 & 2 in the South

I have to be careful how i cover the Region I Champions League (RCL) -since the prize from this league are the spots in the national league in my opinion. And the USYSA has already said the u14 age group will represent the 2001s or u16 next season and the u13 age group will represent the u15 age group or 2002s. it's a tricky thing when we have 2002s playing u14 this year but with BYC their club might go age appropriate and their participation in national league will depend on the u13 team. Since it is a u14 board i will only cover the u14 age group sorry to the 02s as this may mean nothing to you. Basically, the top 2 teams in each division Red or Blue get bids to the national league and with South Shore and GBU most likely locking up spots via their participation in national league this year their RCL spots will become OPEN.

Lots of of incentive to spread themselves thin.

If 1776 qualifies they would need to play as a u16 team...they're not going to birth year and will continue to have 01's and 02's.

How can any coach have more than 2 teams? Doesn't make any sense.

ECNL Players in NorthEast Girls NPL Playoffs. An ECNL player must participate in 25% of a NE Girls NPL regular season competitions to be eligible to play in the NE Girls NPL Playoffs. Specifically: U13 & U14 = 6 games.

Why wouldn't organization be okay with it? They are giving minutes to ECNL players replacing the lower half of NPL team -comes with the territory when part of an ECNL club -it's all about the impact and core players roster depth will become practice players.

PS. There were ECNL teams at last year's NPL finals and the Northwest Champions League NPL has 3 ECNL teams in the playoffs this year plus.

Per NPL league press releases - Qualified teams (ECNL teams also)

Why would they. Makes no sense.

10:16 - Not very strong clubs I guess? The New Jersey top Clubs all have many teams at each age group.

PA going their own way - what a surprise

Anonymous said...

1776, Penn United and FC Revolution, will find it extremely difficult to have success against true 01 teams. It may simply be an issue of not being able to field teams if they go by birth year.

Anonymous said...

1776 doesn't have the numbers, in both teams and girls, to field teams at all birth years. There currently is no U13 team. They have U14, U15 and I think an older team...maybe U18. They could definitely have a 2001 team from their U14 and U15 teams but they don't have the numbers to have a 2002 team.

Anonymous said...

Wasn't Nether tied to CFC Delco - I guess they thought it was best to build a premier brand called 1776 and keep the money instead of doing what's right for the kids? The Xtreme and possibly the u15 teams could have easily become the NPL teams and maybe even an ECNL team. This is why you pick a strong club for your kid regardless of the Ws the parents want. The BYC will not disrupt life at a strong club besides shaking up the teams and moving players around.
You want clubs that can offer a pyramid for the kids teams that play in

JAGS
EDP
NPL
ECNL

or

EDP
RCL
NL

this way as the kids grow and develop they can move up a level or move down a level based on what they can handle - but of course then you have the parents that must be on an A team calling this a money grab - the only money grab is a coach keeping impact players back to play for them by not telling them to move to the next level so they can push themselves to the edge without going over

Anonymous said...

8:02 The last paragraph of your post just described what has happened at FC Revolution over the last couple years.
Penn United players and parents do love their coach, so maybe they see it a different way.

Anonymous said...

How can you say if team's like 1776 stay together and play U16 they will not compete. Maybe they wont compete at the highest level of competition but I'm sure they may be able to handle there own at flight 2 at many tournaments.

Got a remember many girls enter HS this fall and if a team is full of Freshman's come next year they are already competing against older girls. So in my opinion it balances out eventually come U17/18. AS 802 states there is a level of play for anyone.

Anonymous said...

9:42 are you really going to compare playing against girls at the HS level, to playing against girls at the premier level? Penn United and 1176 are already mediocre non ecnl teams, so what are they going to be now? FC Revolution scored a whole six goals in PAGS last year, how do you think they will do? Oh well, at least the girls are playing a higher level of soccer than if they just play HS. Even the biggest Rec club in PA, Penn Legacy is going to observe the BYC.
These clubs refusing to change are simply letting the tail wag the dog and would rather recoup the dollars than see a possible departure of them.

Anonymous said...

9:42 I agree there is a level of play for everyone. If they stay together and if they advance to national league U16 They will need to travel 3 times to play top clubs that have huge player pools and a huge brand to attract players. I'm okay with the family vacations and stuff -but to think they will be able to stay in most games is just straight up crazy talk. They call it "National League" not HS soccer. Just don't wreck your vacation and the other family vacations by expecting results and then complain about throwing away money and traveling to the west coast or down south. Enjoy the ride where ever it takes you. The top players on these teams had better options but their parents made their beds. I hope it still works out.

When do you think we will see the Team list for the 2016 PDA Spring Kickoff?

I am very curious to see what type of turnout they had after they took away all the GotSoccer points from the 2015 event and Teams now know there are no points for playing in this event.

Anonymous said...

I personally am glad PDA is the 1st to do this with GS points, I hear a few more are going to follow especially if the club is tied to Girls DA.

I also think the turnout will be strong knowing that GS points will be irrelevant come the new BYC anyway. Plus you join the PDA tournament for competition and to achieve a status to get accepted at U15-U18 PDA showcases the following years it will mean much more for college recruitment.

Anonymous said...

Continental wanted Nether to bring the entire Xtreme team to Continental at U13 and make up th majority of the pre-ECNL team. But the coach didn't want to do that and many of the parents were concerned about the travel involved with ECNL.

Anonymous said...

It's a choice Nether made and it has worked out pretty well for them the past few years. Look at all the $'s they saved on travel without losing ground on team development.

Anonymous said...

10:51 do you really believe that?

Then explain the below? What exactly did you hear? I think there was more to the 2015 event being stripped from GS by PDA than what you heard.

Do you think that being accepted tothe Showcase means you play ECNL teams? That's an ECNL event that will be held up North with all the college coaches.

https://events.gotsport.com/forms/app/Default.aspx?EventID=51128

PDA Spring Kickoff
Zarephath and Westampton, NJ

Groups
B/G U13-U15

11:00 that's what I would have expected and Delco would be similar to PF in level of play
so they will travel even more now. PAW, MD, VA & NYW to qualify for National League.

Girls teams kick off year-long NL competition
Dec. in Wilson, N.C. and Rocky Mount, N.C.
Dec/Jan Orlando, FL
March Los vegas, NV

keepin mind this doesn't cover Region1Chamoionshipsor USYSA Championships

Seems like a lot more travel then ECNL - but the coach got to keep the team together and they saved all that money to spend it now. Genius move by nether lol

Anonymous said...

11:21 yes but the National League is the future along with Regional leagues and USYSA Regionals and Nationals.this is the last year for ECNL so why move and break up strong team?

Anonymous said...

11:32 you know best - what was your role, since you are defending this so much?

CFC DELCO ECNL
5:00 overnight - FC Stars & Boston
3:30 Overnight - FSA & CFC
2:30 Overnight - Albertson & East Meadow
2:00 World Class
1:15 PDA
1:50 MF

16:00 hrs drive time to play 9 games out of PA
3 overnight stays

---------------------------------------
1776

2:30 BRYC
2:45 Loudon
4:45 Century

10:00 hours drive time to play 3 games out of PA
not counting Divisional playoff for RCL

1;10 MAPS
2;10 Bethesda
2:15 Discovery

plus 5:30 hours to play in 3 tournaments with overnight stays

Brings us to 16 hrs vs 15:30 hrs and 3 overnight stays each.

then we get to EDP.

Save time on travel you say?

Anonymous said...

1132 Why are you saying this is the last year for ECNL? - it will be a direct competitor to the USYSA Regional Leagues with identical travel and Identification processes for ID events which are free I remind you. I think it's having two strong leagues under GDA is for the best, as many players due to living distance did not have the opportunity to play at an ECNL Club so now maybe a USYSA Regional team that plays Regionally locally is closer and just as equal. More options the better so players from everywhere in the country are found.

The Level of play will be:

1.Girls-DA
2.ECNL or USYSA Regional(Both will be driven by player locality)
3.NPL NE,NY or EDP(Top brackets)
4.JAGS/PAGS/EDP(Mid level brackets)

Anonymous said...

The 1776 coach is one of the best in PA, IMHO. PF and Continental would take him in a heartbeat. His players and parents are loyal. I don't believe he's ever lost a player to an ECNL team.

1776 was supposed to be a high level alternative to the ECNL teams. The re-branding from Nether to 1776 was done to attract multi-sport athletes from around the county to a high level soccer team that did not demand so much of their time as ECNL does.

But two things worked against them. One is their model only works as long as there is good non-ECNL competition. As teams like PL, the Ukrainians, HMMS and LVU lose their top players to PF, CFC, and Bucks, PAGS was no longer a viable option for them. I'm not sure what kind of competition they're facing now, but if they could scrimmage the likes of PF every other week they'd jump all over it.

The other thing that worked against them was Nether stopped developing strong teams to feed into 1776. The best Nether U13s play up on the U14 team, and others dispersed to ECNL clubs. The best U12s moved away leaving one top player behind. The U10 team just defected en mass for PF. So now the 1776 U14s and U15s find themselves with no other teams with which to consolidate due the birth year change.

The image of PA on this board is that teams don't consolidate and the town team model is still a viable option, but I don't think this is true. Town teams are dead or dying in PA. Back when the current U14s were U9s and U10s, teams such as Brandywine Youth Club, Nether, Rose Tree, and Lower Merion were all strong Delco teams. But now all those top players are at PF (formerly West Chester) and 1776. Out west LDC and CASA players drifter to HMMS and PL. And up north Deep Run players went to LVU. The consolidation occurred, it just happened a long time ago. I blame programs like Union Jrs that place all these top players together for training. It's only natural that the parents become friendly and the next thing you know players are guesting and then switching clubs together. With these "special training" sessions occurring at younger and younger ages, the consolidation is also happening early.

-PA Guy

Anonymous said...

ODP and Philly Union Summer Select also contributed to the consolidation of talent. But, it really does benefit the serious athlete to play with like-minded kids. The overall practice sessions are higher paced.
It's just a double-edged sword.

Anonymous said...

Agreed, 12:16. The first few times watching your kid play with other high level players is very much an "ah-ha" moment for parents. "So this is what real training and competition looks like". Why not have that sort of training all the time?

Anonymous said...

12:21 All of what you are saying is true. Except that some of the blame has to fall on the movement of coaches also. A coach has the right to move onto a club which may be a better fit for his or her skills, and also offers to pay them what their worth.
There will always be movement when players start reaching the 11v11 years. The big field is often the separator of players with skill+speed and the 8v8 star that just has the big leg or is simply fast. Parents start to realize whats out there.
I too think the 1776 coach is excellent (as is the PU coach), but they will be hard pressed to compete with good teams next year.

Anonymous said...

Thanks PU parent...

Anonymous said...

Yes but if those girls are multisport athletes than why not stay together and play at U16, like the 12pm states there are levels of play doesn't necessarily need to play the best teams just same competition correct?

Not every parent on here are thinking there daughter is a national player or D1 player, many at this age conceded to reality and just want a good batch of players on one team/club to play for.

Anonymous said...

I'm not sure anyone is saying that they shouldn't keep the team "as is". The previous posts simply explained how they found themselves in this situation. Keeping the 2002s and 2001s together is one way to address the situation in which they find themselves. Probably the best way, actually. We'll see how it affects their performance against age pure 2001 teams next season. It's impossible to guess how they'll fare without knowing who their competition will be.

Clubs will not be allowed to be both ECNL and DA Clubs. They will have to choose and that will be the end of ECNL. The Federation is not going to allow that as that will dilute the DA. They want DA to be THE ONLY option for the players they are interested in putting in that top pool.
Everything else will be a step below DA.

Anonymous said...

3:10 read your post again to see how stupid it is.

You want us to believe the DA won't allow clubs to have ECNL teams because it will "dilute" the DA but clubs will allowed to have RCL and National league teams because that won't "dilute" the DA? So I guess PAGS, JAGS & EDP are the real winners here? Back to the local town league teams and let's not forget all the state associations can't run ODP any more.

You are getting confused - gone are the days of guesting - players can only play DA all other players can play anything their parents want to pay for.

Anonymous said...

310 Please provide us your inside info on your statement. To what I've seen there is still a Super Y league for boys and all the other leagues like NPL/EDP for boys as well. So Boys DA did not cause a shutdown on those leagues. Again U.S. Federation is just added another layer on top of all the leagues most likely will move away from Training Centers and other Identification methods like ID2, ODP etc to find national level players or professional league players for NWSL.

Anonymous said...

DA teams will have B teams. Whether they are called ECNL, NPL, or whatever is beside the point.

Anonymous said...

It is the ECNL format that will be eliminated. All power will be centralized in the Federation and removed from certain clubs as is the case with ECNL. That has been their goal with these changes all along.

Anonymous said...

A hypothetical for the Brofessors: If PL U14 wins RCL and earns a U16 NL berth for the upcoming U16 (2001) season, but the team breaks-up as may be the case based on confirmed sightings of PL players out and about at other clubs, does that leave the PL Club with a NL berth for which it needs to build a team, and consequently a carrot to attract and assemble stray talent that may be looking for a place to standout?

Anonymous said...

That wouldn't just be the case with PL, wouldn't that be a possibility with any team? 1776, Ukrainians or any team that participates in State Cup also?

Anonymous said...

Why is all discussion on this blog about PA? Where are all the NJ and NY parents, did they move to another secret blog that openly excludes PA topics? We can only hope, but it's unlikely.

Anonymous said...

2:01 is wrong.

6:03 - Your answer can be found on the USYSA website as follows:

Teams applying for the 2016-17 National League season must have competed in the 2015-16 US Youth Soccer National Championship Series competition and must have on their 2016-17 team roster no fewer than nine US Youth Soccer registered players that were on that team’s 2015-16 roster or from within a 2015-16 team roster from within their club. The National League application period opens around June 8 and closes on July 7.

Moral of the story, keep the team together.

ECNL is and will remain the best college connection...period.

DA and ECNL will co-exist.

Pda accepted list is out. I would think more local teams would do this and save some money on hotels and travel instead of delco. Pda also accepts more teams next year in showcase when it really matters if they have been loyal in the past.

Anonymous said...

Please 10:30 give it a rest. PDA has no loyalty to other NJ Teams and the ones who apply can be sure to be buried in flights lower than they deserve.

Anonymous said...

1101 Agree the PDA showcases do not reflect on you team's abilities and loyalty at the younger ages (U8-U14). If a stronger team especially ECNL teams join the showcases (U15-U18) lower level teams get bumped or get pushed to lower brackets. No high level showcase tournaments at the older ages have loyalty or they will lose college coach attendance knowing they are not seeing quality games on potential recruits.

FC Copa Lima playing in Flight 10 at Jeff Cup. I mean how can these parents pay for this? Recreation level soccer for $1,000 weekend. Of all the U14 clubs that have any aspiration - Lima is the worst and a roster of 20 to boot! There some families and girls who left good solid teams at good clubs for that bill of goods. They have barely won a darn game since!!!

Anonymous said...

12:47 Because if you paid attention to ECNL model at U14 required to attend at least 1 of the ECNL showcases an many those teams like FC VA have chosen the showcase in Greer, SC in May. PDA's tournament is not an ECNL showcase for U14 but it is at U15-U18. Since ECNL clubs are required to attend 3 ECNL showcases at the older age you will more talented teams at U15-U18 showcase, so the loyalty comments are bogus.

Oh my God, tactical soccer, really? They play 10 damn players behind the ball all the time! They never score more than 1 goal because they play 10 damn players behind the ball all the time! When they do score its because a defender falls down, or the GK was chasing butterflies. They are next level though, 1 level down.

Roster sent out for this weekend. Our Roster was based on supposedly our practices. How can a coach evaluate the players when he does not show up? Next how in the world are 2 NPL players filling up roster spots on players that been there all year?

Best Part- My daughter made the ECNL team already for next year. Email sent out guaranteeing my kid a spot. To me, this just does not sound right. The Club has no idea who will be showing up next year, the trigger was pulled a little to fast.

Email from club

MFA U14 ECNL -

I hope everyone is enjoying the warm weather today….hoping it lasts that is for sure!

I know I spoke with a couple of people today but I would just like to quickly address a couple of “issues” that have been brought to my attention through those conversations;

(best one below, our coach missed more games and practice's than I change my underwear in a year)

1. Training last night - very rarely Dom and I both have a conflict on the same night. Last night we both had work events we had to attend. We had to decide whether to change training to Raritan for Monday or Wednesday or stay with the same schedule as sent out. For a number of reasons we wanted to stay with the schedule so asked Ashley to cover the session. Ashley had to get knee surgery on Monday, so being down coaches for the week Bryan was good enough to step in late on. We are both very aware of the magnitude of the games this weekend and have had the team training 2/3 times a week since January to prepare. Last night’s session may not have been as intense as needed but I am certain we are ready to play this weekend and Dom will go through the game plan with the team, for both games, tomorrow night.

(another excuse to not show up)

2. This weekend’s games - unfortunately (although sometimes a good thing) my family lives 3,000 miles away and, given every school holiday is taken over by soccer, I rarely get an opportunity to take my children over to see them. Tomorrow night I am flying to England with my twins and I am away for 10 days. The trip was planned well before the schedule came out because cost and family availability does not go well with last minute planning (and before my wife got pregnant, so now she cannot travel). It sucks to miss these games, it is very hard for me to not be around and not be able to be on the sideline for these games. I believe we are very well prepared and I trust the girls will be great this weekend…..but I understand it is disappointing to all that I will not be there. I will be checking my messages every 5 minutes for updates!

(I posted last week, it's on the schedule. of course we are going)

3. ECNL event in Greer - we had asked not to participate in this event. The ECNL only confirmed that our attendance was mandatory over the weekend. We are now working with them and Marriott to secure a hotel for the team. We will be attending - players will need to arrive the evening of Friday May 6. We play 2 games on Saturday May 7 and 1 on Sunday May 8. Our game on Sunday is 11:30am. There will be college coaches in attendance.

Please let me know ASAP if your daughter is not available that weekend.

(whoa, I have a spot!!! Not taking it until I see players joining club)

4. 2016/2017 season - I am really reluctant to discuss next year when we are in the midst of a league title battle this year. I truly believe this is the most talented group we have had at the U14 age and the possibility of winning a national title this year is real. We have to release certain information and go through certain processes during the season given the nature of youth soccer (youth sports) but please know that our focus is on this year, and winning a title this year. We will handle next season once our ECNL season is over. What I can guarantee is that every player on this team will be offered an ECNL roster spot again next year, in their appropriate birth year.

Thank you, enjoy the rest of the week.

I'm not sure why you're so angry. Now you'll have an excuse and someone to blame when you lose both games this weekend.

National title? Yea right. You guys had some lucky games last season. Spring will be a different story.

Yes why so upset it seems even with all the non-shows you complain about with the coaching staff they are staying loyal to the current players and possibly will only pull in a few girls onto the squads from tryouts. I personally commend MF for sticking to there guns with the current player pool and seeing how they will fair next fall.

I'm assuming PDA/World Class will do the same so don't expect huge turn over of 6/9 girls. Clubs are starting to decide it may not be worth the risk to rebuild some teams unless they are need of players due to shortage.

MF are one of the top teams at each age group U14-U18 at the ECNL scene. Plus the DA comes into play the following year so clubs may lose some girls anyway.

I agree what's the beef? You pay over 2k and your kid doesn't play as much as you like?

12:00 PF has no shot relax.

I think East Meadow and MF will represent the NorthEast at the national finals in CA. For MF it will be their second trip to CA in 2 months, East Meadow going to west coast for a 2nd time AZ and CA.

With NEFC taking over Boston Breakers Academy and the breakers going to CA in April I think the parents will be okay with not returning as i believe the PDA parents will be.

Matchfit is a disaster! PDA will have no problem this weekend. Hope you like that top division spot MF, you won't be there much longer!

From an outside point of view:

Why would I contemplate to attend MF Tryout knowing ECNL spots already offered to every player?

If I was a member of team, I would double think the reason behind this. There has to be players not worthy of an ECNL spot. Are they just added players to add players? will the roster be at 26?

Or based on the email, was this just a way to stop the complaining and say "look you are an ECNL player next year"

I always thought the main reason a coach will tell a current player that their spot on the team is secure for next season is to discourage that player from trying out at other clubs.

PDA parents will be "OK with..." not competing for the national title?

Say that again....

12:39 You nailed it!!!!

I have a quick question for the PDA insiders -What's up with Ajax? Are they going back to EDP and NJYSA in the Fall? North has ECNL/NPL tryouts and South has no mention of NPL like in the past? SO is PDA going for world domination next season? ECNL, National League & NPL titles with 3 different teams? No club has ever done that. What other clubs outside of PDA in region1 can do that? PA & NY have none - MF had a shot before they merged with NJX (they went from 3 solid teams to 2), NJ Wildcats didn't have the brains to put one of their teams in RCL and the other NPL, STA & NJ Crush reserve teams not as strong.

Have to give credit to that club - Since I've been on this board and did a bunch of research - no club can say their B & C teams have shots at national titles vs other A teams. PDA Dragons proved that last year, they beat head 2 head NJ Wildcats, STA, Ajax & NJX and made final 4 of the NPL finals if PDA was smart last year they could have had Ajax playing in national league instead of of putting both in NPL my guess is they would also be in the hunt for a title.

So I guess I see all the hate and why teams try to put them down and the league as much as they can. You can't have other larger clubs doing the same thing, I could see CFC Delco doing this -it looks like they are in a good spot - I could see Albertson doing this if they didn't have to fight East meadow for players.

"At the appropriate age group" is the key wording

Thus.....

The '01s on Match Fot U14 ECNL rostera re "guaranteed" a spot on next year's '01 team. This will leave about ten openings.

And the '02s - same thing.

The '01s from Match Fit's current U15s of course will have the leg up for those '01 spots.

The current U13s - the older ones - will be looking to grab the '02 openings.

Room in there, I'd say, for anyone good enough that is looking to move over to MF from another locale.

1243 Yes I'm hearing the same thing PDA South is moving away from U.S. Club Path of NPL most likely will go EDP/Region1 which in my opinion would have them play stronger competition then NENPL.

12:40 straight up - putting a side the talk for a national title - You would be okay to take 2 weeks of vacation and fly to CA 2 times not for a vacation but for your kid to play soccer at U14? Honestly, for me that would be hard and to split the family wouldn't really be a family vacation would it aside from the $$$. You pay and you attend - but not sure how much fun it really would be.

12:39 Why are you acting surprised - there was a poster going back that said it would be harder and harder for players to make ECNL rosters from the outside as the kids get older - because the coaches don't wan't to break up the teams unless the kids were impact players. I see that as a positive - you are always free to tryout and knowing you are in really gives you nothing to lose. Why turn that into a negative 12:40 & 12:39?

12:33 as an outsider if your kid isn't an impact player they are not making an ECNL team. I like the loyalty to the players you are in if you stay regardless of how many players we have - but the door is there if you want to leave, the players not worthy as you call them will be roster depth if they stay but it will be their choice to leave - the club won't cut them -to me that's every reason to pick that club. To me it just sounds like some people made a bad choice.

Sorry if it's not that way - but that's how it comes across.

Funny it won't matter come Fall 2017.

12:58, the implication is that because of the big rosters, it really isn't much skin off the coach's back to promise a player a roster spot. "You want roster spot 27? Sure, be my guest. After all, I did promise you a spot on the ECNL team."

But the coach isn't sure if that player will be roster spot 8 or 27 just yet. It all depends on who tries out. So the coach tries to discourage his current player from trying out at other clubs by assuring them they have a guaranteed ECNL spot.

It's been said on this board many many times, but it still is true: always do your due diligence and make sure you have more than one option.

PDA Morth (Dragons) and South (Ajax) are regional, not B and C.

North - sorry

Agree MF has a method of every player battles for rankings, playing and starting time. To me it seems like it's working because they aren't on the bottom like other clubs are. That's ECNL and more next year will be the girls DA way. If picked up by the club your earning your time and spot if your un-happy the door is there to leave because at the older ages someone is always knocking.

Also outside of PDA didn't MF have 13 players choose to go D1 from the 2016 class. To me that's the ultimate goal correct?

Anonymous said...

MFA is not about loyalty. What other age group have they been loyal to? This team is very strong. MFA is afraid. Parents are right to complain if the coaches miss practices before big weekends. The kids aren't allowed to miss.

2:01 I get it you spend the bucks you want the coach there to prepare for big games. No disrespect and please don't take this the wrong way. You pay to have your kid play for the club. My assumption is that you wanted this because you trust the club with training your kid. Nobody held a gun to your head when you payed. That being said the club trusts the coach to train the team and if the coach can't make it they will ask a coach they trust to train the team. Not seeing the big deal about who is training the team, sorry? Somebody is training them that is employed by the club that you payed to train your kid.

1:19 No worries I am the king of spelling errors -but that's what I get for cutting class to play cards.

Anonymous said...

2:01 It's a bigger deal when the kids don't show up than a coach - the coach can be replaced but when you have 4 kids missing practice you go from 18 to 14 then you take away the goalies that's a problem my friend.

Correct 13 D1 this year and 24 last year out of 25 players. The one who didn't had offers, but chose to go to Carnegie Mellon. Also had some NPL D1 offer this year and last I believe. They have offered a ton of current players across all age groups, but that is partly to lower stress in a year when stress is at an all time high and frankly a good move by them. Why would I try out there if I had a talented kid? No way all their players return with the move from Hazlet to Denville. If you have a talented kid in Northern NJ, I'd check it out. The guy who that email is from is good guy, very talented coach and also has a full time job. At the end of the day this is still kids playing a game, never lose perspective on that.

Remember NJ...and NY, tomorrow you're not allowed on here

Anonymous said...

This is easy for matchfit, their current 02 team is horrible and most of the girls are not coming back. This leaves a ton of spots on the 02 team, easy decision. As for the 01 team, they need to keep every player, good or bad.

If we have a "No NJ/NY Friday" maybe we can keep the count under 5000 for another day or two. Oops, my bad, just wasted one of the few remaining rounds.

NYSC how does it feel to have the NYCSL NPL slip away late last year and now
you are looking up to

1. NJ Crush 27pts
2. STA 20pts
3. ISA 20pts
4. Massapequa 18pts
5. Manhattan 16pts
6. TIED with Quickstrike 13pts (this one has to hurt)

You my boy, I know you play nice but when it doesn't translate it doesn't translate they are u14 know not u9 where style points count :)

PS. You know I'm busting horns - but I am shocked at where you guys are on the table
