I'm not sure who the earlier poster was talking about but I would nominate Greater Binghamton as physical AND dirty.
Good one. Yes. GB is very physical.

Remove top team in NJ and in NYE?I dont think so.
I am fine with Penn Legacy in for Wildcats
STA gave up 3 goals in the 5 games you say were weakI guess you are just impressed by goal scorers(Manhattan game needs to be discounted)
remove yourself from STA and look at it from my eyesAlbertson, Atlantci, LVU, Harford & ISA are not TOP FLIGHT teams and you are telling me I should say that a 4-3 GD +1 is worthy of TOP flight? Also what do you think about forfeiting a game? That's a top team's quality? Do you think Jefferson Cup will just not count it or hold that against STA?Same for WC, CFC Delco, FC Bucks, Albertson and yes STA are nottop tier teams so how should any one view 7-5 GD +2. You are telling me this is worthy of Top tier. Don't speak with your heart - look at it as an outsider.
NJ Wildcats are a top tier team. First in league play (EDP) and NJ NCS State Champ in addition to playing top tier flights in other majors and holding their own. PennLegacy didn't even win their PAGS regular season it took a playoff.Your friendly neighborhood shill
P.a. Classics "the team that won PAGS during reg season" didn't play Penn Legacy or YMS during "regular season".
If we go with 12 teams per tier here are my teams below. Can’t we all just get along??
What do you guys think of this?Is it better to play in the second flight of Jeff Cup, and have a better chance of winning, or in the first flight, where the chances of winning are less, but the rewards are greater?I would take the first flight, better competition, even if we don’t win, the girls will be tested.
Yes, at U13 you need to start establishing yourself as a consistent top flight team in these tournaments. Then your team will be top flighted in 2 years when it matters.
7:59 This is why I don't like an unbalanced schedule. However that's how the league set up their regular season and they didn't win it. They both played 1776 and PA classics got the 3 while PennLegacy only got 1 point the loss to YMS did PennLegacy in though. 8:24 then it would be a perfect world and we all would agree with everything. So much more fun treating our kid's team like a pro team well to me it is (yes I know they are 13 and most won't be playing in a few years going by the stats).8:01 I don't like PDA Ajax and Rage in top flight. Curious why Ajax over dragons when they play in the same league and Ajax came in 3rd and Dragons in first?also PA Classics beat Rage 5-1 and Rage also lost to YMS and Ukranians not top tier teamsI think the following teams need a good lookTRI-STATE FA TFA ELITE 01UNITED FA UFA 02 PREMIER(beat CASL and beat SouthShore 6-2)PennFusion ECNL finished ahead of WC in pre-ECNL leaguePDA Dragons if picking putting 1 PDA team in top flight. Since August (u13) Dragons beat Ajax head 2 head and won the league they both played in. I already said how I feel about STA and WC.Calvert beat up on EDP teams if you look at them out side of EDP (Disney & Spirit) W1, T2, L3, GD -3 plus a loss to Pipeline can not keep this team in the top flight.Good stuff -I give these Tournament people some cred not easy -they will get some things wrong and that's okay.
8:28 I agree - I think doing well in Championship will go along way but winning the Elite will also help a team out the next time
8:28 - I feel playing the best comp out there and losing is better then beating lesser comp.If the girls play better comp and lose then they will know they have to get better.Top flight better then 2nd
8:28 here, yeah I am torn about it, not sure what I would prefer. If I ask you know who, she will say that she wants to win, even if its not the top flight, just something to feel good about. After all, you wants to drive 8 hours each way for a big fat, we’ll get them next time speech on the way back???
most of the girls, if not all, want to win every game they play. Although they also have to realize that they will not. No matter who you are, you just do not win every game you play. Soccer is a team sport, your daughter could play the best she ever has but the rest of the team doesnt so you lose. I also feel it is good to lose sometimes so the next time you play that team you have something to play for.

10:54, I totally agree, 2nd or even 3rd flight at Jeff Cup will provide great competition for your daughter, and her team. We don't care where they place us, although top flight would be nice, as long as the girls play well, and ready themselves for their NPL season. Nationals are the tournament we are targeting, and it begins at Jeff Cup.
When will flights be posted?
To be honest, I really don't want the girls to play teams that they have already played, or might play, or will play in the spring. I want them to play teams from other states like Michigan, South Carolina and Florida. It makes the games far more exciting, and isn’t that the reason for all this?
Agree. I have seen teams pull out in the past because they were playing the same teams from NJ or PA.
1:27 & 1:29 I agree with both. I dont want to drive 4 to 5 hrs and spend all that money to play teams that are less then 1 hr from us. That makes no sense.
probably 6-7 hours
6 or 7 hours is on the light side
Yes. Take the crush copter to lose every game like every other year.
Wildcats have proven not to be ready for top bracket in good tournaments. They stack the box and play for the tie.1 win in 10 games. They play tough, but can't win in these tougher groups. Anybody can play not too lose by much.
So much for it being the wildcats causing trouble. Please give your obsession a rest.
4:49.... WOW!!!!! what a loser
Does FC Crush really have a helicopter, how can they afford that, is it a new one?
Probably, and if so they can afford it because they sure don't spend anything on fields, haven't you played against them on the dirt field? It was not enjoyable.
Now that you mention it, we did play them on a crap field, why would that happen? Does Crush not have access to any turf fields in NJ?
LOLSign of the times - teams that crave turf
No, I prefer grass, not dirt, rocks and holes. Really bad.
5:23- Exactly right, Wildcats only played 9 tournament games and they won 1. Get your facts straight 4:49.
How many have they lost?
PA person always positive towards Penn Legacy. Obvious part of this team.Yes Penn Legacy a nice team, not a great team. You beat Penn Fusion, Penn Fusion better team, will become stronger over years
Jeff CupPDA DragonsPDA AjaxPDA ShoreWhere's PDA Storm?
I am a little tired of the Penn Legacy cheerleader as well. Will see how they do in the spring. But how do you say Penn Fusion will be better over the next couple of years? Does Penn Fusion have the same "pull" as say PDA does to constantly bring in better players?
How many ECNL teams are in Jeff Cup outside of the VA teams?
8:29Actually I think the " PA person" you are referring to is from Penn Fusion. When your team is as good as they(PF) are and you watch another team (PL) take them apart, you tend to respect them.

Again, it is about how you play yhe game now to get to the next level. If you are obsessed with your ranking you play not to lose. But unfortunately if that is your style it keeps bodies back to prevent goals against, that means you do not have enough up front to develop legit scoring chances. All you really have is a long through ball. Many teams do this at this age because they feel the girls like being ranked. Coaches like it so they can sell that ranking. So do you give up those developmental chances at scoring just to prevent being scored on..... Short sighted I believe.
You're making a fool of yourself. Please stop!
The ex wildcat guy is the most obsessed person I have ever seen in the sport - go away u loser.
I have never seen the Wildcats play but their record is both impressive and puzzling. They don't give up many goals and appear to be in every game against good teams. From the outside I would venture to say that they must have very good backs, good mid fielders but weak forwards. If not, then they must play a style of play designed to keep games close and not lose. Am I missing something?
10:05, that sums it up pretty well, they are tough team that doesn’t let the opponent out-muscle them on the 50/50 ball, so what you have is a game played mostly from the top of each box. Its a back-and-forth version of soccer, which means competitive, physical, and boring as hell.
8:29Oh please do enlighten us on who the "great" teams are then!
its a style of soccer that have been played by many teams at this age group before the wildcats ever played it.the North Rockland rowdies from New York was the last team to be successful in this style of Play. They are now u15 and the team has gone from a regional powerhouse to a more mid level team a lot of the better players have already jumped ship. History repeats itself time and time again. But all parents of these type of teams think that their team will be different History always repeats itself,
10:11 and 10:22 summed it all up. History repeats itself all the time with this..... Is what it is....Now let's move on.
10:22 question is if you are so sure of your predictions based on "history will repeat itself", "this is what happened to this strong team or that strong team". why the need to constantly repeat your mantra. Why wold anyone who is with a team they are so sure will soon surpass or has already surpasses Wildcats spend so much of their life and valuable time on this bog trying to convince everyone wildcats will soon fall from elite level.I try to take into consideration your limited intelligence and demonstrated lack of soccer knowledge and experience, plus your clear handicap of such a limited vocabulary, which causes you come across as ridiculously redundant, but every time Wildcats team is not being discussed on the blog for a couple of days, you feel the obsessive need to bring up your same tired predictions. Now it seems you are trying to induce wildcats players to move on?Just recently you claimed that there are no players on their team capable or "skilled" enough to make an ECNL Team. Now you seem to be suggesting we need to "jump ship".Please stop, we are very happy with our situation and would certainly not run to any team you are a part of. If your dysfunctional personality is indicative of what exists among parents and coaches of the ECNL Clubs than you are welcome to it my man.get yourself some help before it's too late.
10:05 if your team ever gets to play in a top flight of one of these elite tournaments like those listed above, or even if you go on their website and look at the complete results for these top flights, what you will see is almost ALL the scores of all the games in these flights are 0-0, 1-0, 1-1, 2-1, just like wildcats results listed.for example FC Virginia won the wildcats bracket at WAGS Cup with 2 ties both 0-0 and a 2-1 win, then went to the finals.1 win 2 ties, 2 goals scored and 1 goal allowed and they won the bracket and went on to the finals.Since WAGS, that FC Virginia team has gone on to win the top flights at both the Bethesda Tournament and the Disney tournament. I don't think you would knock them as not belonging in top flights.Penn Legacy won wildcats bracket and made semifinals at spirit tourney you listed after 2 ties in their preliminary games then survived shootout wins over calvert and wildcats to advance. For anyone who has been there they know that ties and low scoring games are the NORM at the top flights of these elite events. Goals are hard to come by against nationally ranked, very organized teams at any age. That is one of the ways
(Continued from above)you continue to be chosen for these top flights. Watch what happens to the teams who were flighted highly previously and then blown out 4 or 5 to 0 in games at these events.Out of state teams complain and won't come back to that event if they have those experiences.Everyone wants to play close games vs teams that are difficult to beat when they travel great distances to events.
Didnt Match Fit shine while not being part of ECNL for years?Look at Beat, Colchesters, United. those teams were heavily recruited
I think the guy who commented on the low scores having meaning such as the team must be "packing it in" just isn't aware of what the games at these events are like. It's not like league games at all.Once you lose a game in bracket play you are basically out of contention to advance(go through to semifinals). This is another reason games are low scoring at these tournaments. If yu tie on the first day you are still alive to advance and get get the needed win in the next game.also some times you may go into your last game needing only a tie to advance based on the results of other teams in your bracket. It becomes a bit of a chess match between coaches and also different tie breaker formats at different events factor in as well.
1:32 very good point. Many who are relatively new to this level of youth soccer weren't around a few short years ago when that was the case.At that time those MatchFit Teams and other were in the same position as Wildcats. The difference now is that MatchFit has an ECNL spot so they have conveniently forgotten that those teams and players were successful at this high level youth soccer as well as sending those players on to successful college careers and are now fully on board the "ECNL is the only way if you want to play in college" bandwagon.
Wildcats basher is from NJX. Period.
1:50pm -I think you are right. No team has been impacted more negatively by Wildcats emergence than old NJX Celtic Team. They are right in each others backyard.Could it be the "Old Mommy Coach"?She is NJX Club and has the most to lose. Those clubs go after the same pool of players.
Have players gone from NJX to Wildcats and visa versa?
Sounds like to me that the Wildcats are playing for a tie which gets you invited back next time. Is that your point?
Doesn't matter. It kills NJX that they became MF B team while Wildcats became best non ECNL team in NJ.
Are you upset that wildcats are now a regularly top flighted team and you are now a B flighted team as in bethesda. Why don't you take responsibility for your situation and the decisions you made instead of obsessing about our team. And no there are no players who are on wildcats from njx or vice versa.
How did joining MF benefit NJX? ECNL team remains up north. You don't have to be on NPL team to tryout for MF ECNL. What exactly was the point? Long ride to practice if you make it.
They would still probably be a top flight team if they hadn't combined.too bad.
You talk as if they aren't still a top team in NJ. The players are still the same, they won the Spring State cup against all of the NJ teams and they have done well this fall. Sounds like someone has an infatuation with them not the other way around.
NJ Wildcats or MF NPL Maybe the New Jersey Cup 2015, will answer that question
Thank you Northeast girls NPL forthe update this answers many questions.Winners of the Northeast Girls NPL playoffs qualify to the 2015 NPL Finals, slated for July 9-13, in Westfield, Ind.DATE AND LOCATION:June 13-14, 2015Orangetown Soccer ComplexOrangeburg, N.Y. 10962The top four teams from the U-13 Pre-ECNL Division will also participate for a league championship but are unable to advance to the NPL Finals.
Lets see who benefited from the merger with njx?MF got use of njx fields and access to all of the njx teams and players. How many njx teams have folded or are folding since the merger? MF got one of the best teams in the state if not the region, njx Celtic. MF is taking the so called top 4 from Celtic to their ecnl team. Njx got promised the best training?? Parents bought into the scholarship and ecnl bs. Guess what your not the ecnl team. Mommy got her daughter to play at a level that she would never make on her own accord. How is that training working out. You have more losses in 6 months since MF took over in the last 2 years and the level of competition has dropped drastically. Currently flighted as a b team. Wait till next year. Looks like 4 players benefitted with promises of ecnl aspirations and another player treading in very deep water. How many kids left that team already, 4 or 5? And more to come.So the used car salesman got sold a Lemon. Couldn't have happened to a nicer person
Wildcats got smoked 3-1 by Ajax this season. Best Non-ECNL team? Wildcats would finish 3rd or 4th in NE NPL.Wildcats have accumulated a lot of GS points, not any wins. Don't be confused.
I wouldn't call 3-1 smoked. Just saying
I would. I quote your earlier post "For anyone who has been there they know that ties and low scoring games are the NORM at the top flights of these elite events. Goals are hard to come by against nationally ranked, very organized teams at any age"Smoked.
Very bitter parent I guess and assuming you are one that left. Your kid was in over her head anyway. The bottom half of that team was there to enjoy the ride. Be happy your daughter had that experience and move on quietly. The move to MF worked for most and the ones that did not make the pool for either of the two teams for next season were exposed. Reality is your daughter should not have been at this level in the first place.
Lose an argument, attack a 12-13 year old kid. Sick and very sad!
You seriously need to let it go. Way to long to be hanging onto the same digs. I agree with poster who said that the parent screwed up by jumping teams and little Sally is the one that paid the price so instead of blaming everyone else, get yourself together and do something productive to get your daughter in the proper place. Then maybe, just maybe you will find some peace and won't find the need to constantly attack on this blog. It's getting you no where to focus your energy here. Just trying to give some healthy advice. Let go and put your energy into your daughter.
Dear Smokie,Only you can prevent stupidity.
So an adult is donating her time and you have the balls to criticize her for trying to give your daughter the best chance possible at getting into an academy club. Now that she did not make the cut you find the need to lash out. I am going to guess that you are one of those parents that NEVER donates their time for anything..... Get your daughter on a team that suits her level and stop attacking people that actually contribute to youth sports.
New Jersey u13 soccer needs some antibiotics, stat.
Always tough to hear your kid is not as good as you think. I get that. But to blame others is just foolish. Goes for all of you on here.... Worry about your own and let others be. Does anything good ever come out of it??
I just think the negativity is so juvenile. It is like if my daughter's team lost to Wildcats. Should I now go on here and post negative comments about their coach? Or maybe just say it was a good game and we lost this time...... Or my team lost to Storm. Should I now come on here and bash that PDA has too many players on their roster? Or just say they played better soccer then us that day...... Worry about your own! We will all be better off.
I think everyone is worried about their own. That's why we are here. Your always gonna have pissed off parents.
I not worried about my daughter, she is getting the best youth training in the United States, and she is getting better every session.
3 magic beans
Bottom half of that team was over their head? Really? So if there was 18 on that roster your saying 9-18 were over their heads. Wow you just bashed 9 girls, I hope your not still on that team. If you are you should leave now, their is no I in team. I would consider my daughter in the bottom half. You won't have the balls to say that at practice
Some sick parents(many of them live on this site) when their Liitle Suzie loses and she or her team are exposed as not as good as they thought or claimed to be, are frustrated and try and get even by attacking the opposing coach personally(he is too loud, he is too quiet, not animated enough, too demonstrative on the sidelines, trains his players outside of team training, is political, they don't play with enough skill, too direct, parents are not well behaved on sideline, kids played too rough or fouled too much,etc.).All this is very simply an attempt to deflect attention from what happened on the field(they lost).sometimes when their team loses to a team they can't accept losing to, this behavior continues for as long as many months. It's also a form of denial.Often afflicts most those who are the most avid KoolAid Drinkers.
11:49 Yes, it's called childish behavior and a form of denial.Like when our girls were very young and they lost and they were mad so they would claim that after the game one of the opposing girls spit on their hand before shaking with them. This allowed them to try and get even by taking the focus off losing and deflect credit from the other team.Infantile, vindictive parents who can't accept that their Dear Daughter can ever fail, hear the word no, or face any adversity without Mommy or Daddy jumping in to fix it often do the same thing in ways like those you mentioned. They are a joke. These are often the parents whose kids I have seen so often over the years, even when talented enough to get an offer to play in college, end up back home by October because they don't have the tools to handle any of the adversity which they all face at the next level. The MOST important attributes that determine success at the next level are mental toughness, perseverance, self confidence and self belief, and work ethic.Everyone is talented, athletic and skilled at the D1 level. The intangibles often makes the difference between who plays and stays, and who sits, gets disgruntled and is back at JC by the end of their freshmen year, often with a jacket that makes them radio active to college coaches at many of the programs they are interested in transferring to.A shame so many parents set their own child up for this failure down the road.
Nobody is bashing the kids on here. We are all making fun of YOU, the parent who cannot read the situation correctly. Please let you duaghter find HER way on to a team that suits HER level of play and let HER enjoy herself. Not about you big guy.....So many still trying to relive the glory days.....
^ Listen to the coach for he is full wisdom, or at least full of something.
Yes 12:06, and see post 12:05.
12:10 you are a great example of exactly the parent depicted.Just too dumb to realize it.
^ Yes all knowing one, I am just too dumb.
Why not then refute what you disagree with in the posts instead of attacking personally?Attacking the messenger is always a sign of ignorance. It is a weapon wielded by those who lack the intelligence, knowledge of the subject or experience to engage in a reasoned discourse.
^Drop your weapons. Cease the attack.
8:00 am, 2 girls have left MF Npl of course more will leave and come as the years go one, that is to be expected. If your a parent who left, go do what's best for your daughter. No need to bash the girls/parents who have chosen to stay.
If you leave a team during the middle of the year, that is a sign of weakness, if you come on here and bash the team you left, that is a sign of weakness. That shows a lot about the person you are. WEAK. Shame because you have just taught your daughter a trait of weakness. Pick up and run when things get tough. That is a sign of a weak-minded individual.
More important than the bashing that's going on. I'm sure the same is going on at every club. The big question is can the wildcats the best non ecnl team win the top bracket at Jeff cup?
1:42No. NJ doesn't have what it takes to win a power house event. Not 1 NJ team in this age group has won anything major. Not until the best players end up on 1 team will they have a chance.
1:42 You continue with your wildcats obsession. The fact that Wildcats are already considered by you to be in the top bracket before they even flight the teams is telling. And truth is, that is all that matters. The goal is to be among the teams who play at the highest level. And to be able to be competitive vs those teams. All the teams on this blog are aspiring to do that, as that is where the best development and also the exposure is.To go into the top flight of events like Jeff Cup and say they have to win it all or it is a failure is ridiculous.Although the fact that you continue to raise the bar for your expectations of their team is also telling. Not so long ago you were predicting they would lose every game in the top flight of similar events("I will eat my hat if Wildcats don't lose every game in top flight"- "Wildcats will get smoked in top flight").We haven't forgotten.Still waiting to hear how that Hat tasted going down.
But they might tie every game. Lol
Didn't the 2 nj teams in top flight at jeff cup last year, both PDA Ajax and NJ Crush go combined 0 and 6 and each get outscored like 10-1 or worse. I think so.3 ties would be a huge improvement for NJ this year.
When will Northeast NPL post fall GS pounts? Or will they?
Wildcats can'y have it both ways:They want to ignore losses to Boca in last Spring SC and loss to Ajax this season. Yet, point out win against PDA Storm last spring?EVERYBODY recognizes their coaches posts.
Who is talking about win over storm other than yourself?
5:25 "When will Northeast NPL post fall GS pounts? Northeast NPL has nothing to do with that. That's a GS thing, when will the GS people manually enter the NorthEast NPL flights? However, what they do control is when it their PDP? or will they not have one?PDP aka ODP sessions US Club Leagues. ECNL has them, NYCSL NPL has one, NewEngland NPL has one and so does the new Virginia NPL, i don't remember them having one last year, will they this year?

Woohoo, I think they set up a game between FC Virginia and Chelsea FC, give me 2 goals and I will take the pride of the old south.
FC Virginia plays EDPSome team called WEST MONT out of PA East tied them in the springPA guy, who is West Mont and was that spring 2014 game an 8 v 8?
Westmont is a club based near Limerick, PA. Their current U13 team played Div4 of PAGS this past fall. There is no way this club could tie FCV pre-ECNL. 0% chance. This must be a different FCV team that played Westmont. The 01-02 Westmont team of yore did well in PAGS Div1 and was very tough to play, with four very strong players. But there was a steep talent curve for that squad and those four players have since dispersed to Penn Fusion (2), 1776 (1), and Ukrainians (1).-PA Guy
My understanding is that FCV just plays the U13 pre-ECNL teams of the same ECNL clubs that the their older teams play on a particular weekend. Doesn't show up on the ECNL website but the games still happened. Think that's what all the MD/VA pre-ECNL teams around DC do it.
And FVC pretty much plays all comers as a top flight team in many of the very best major tournaments in region 1 and beyond.
Does anyone have the EDP Divisions for the Spring? Curious if anyone moved around.
Has FCV ever played an MLS team? You seem to think that they are the greatest team on Earth, do their feet even touch the ground?
"Has FCV ever played an MLS team? You seem to think that they are the greatest team on Earth, do their feet even touch the ground?"Translation: I wish someone would talk about my daughter's team.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgLDq9pTsdcLooks at this propaganda video, I am misty as I post this message...
Obviously FCV can't hang with an MLS team. Now a professional women's team, maybe.Sarcasm aside, FCV was probably the best U13 team I saw last season but it's not like they dominated everyone they played, and they had their share of ties and even a few losses. They also traveled to San Diego for Surf Cup and did alright out there. I give them credit for their consistent results in all of the tournaments they played.
An article from last Spring re FCV. Don't think it was posted on here.http://www.soccerwire.com/news/clubs/youth-boys/fc-virginia-open-house-reveals-big-plans-despite-naysayers/?loc=psw
FCV Is a good team obviously. They would be fantastic if they could get a great striker. What they lack is the ability to score goals.
I think the difference as far as being the best team in region 1 coming out of the fall season is that they finished so strong, winning top flights at bethesda and disney, both were loaded with strong teams (Disney with top teams from inside and outside region 1). No other region 1 team has that resume or number of significant wins and championships thus far at U13.When you throw in finalist at very strong WAGS Cup flight in october(again highest finish among region 1 teams at wags as they lost in finals 1-0 to Atalanta Top Hat from Region 3) the level of consistency is impressive. As far as your comment about scoring goals where is the region 1 team who is scoring more vs that level of competition in tournament play?Look at Storm in Chicago.Or any other team when playing in these top flights at top tourneys.Very few goals scored by any team vs that level.
I have seen them play. The last time I saw them they had many opportunities but just could not finish. They got several shots off, just missed.
3:29 Don't always finish their chances as with most good U13 Girls teams on this site. That is why the polished strikers are so in demand.Unfortunately too few of them to go around by a long ways. Most of the coaches are looking for them.
3:29 saw a gameDont argue with him. :)
So let's look at Calvert who alos played Disney and dropped all 3close games, but when you look at 2 of the 3 gaveup 12 goals to Boston pre-ECNL.So of CASL and West Florida are not at the same level as Boston what does that say about Calvert? Finished 2nd behind a good NJ Wildcat team with two drops, one to NJ Wildcats 2-1 and one to Pipeline 2-1. However, they do have ONE big win vs PDA Storm 3-2 with no other wins outside of EDP (with the exception of FSA NPL (#6 in NorthEast NPL). I bet they get top flight, becasue they played in 11 tournaments to accumulate all those GS points tosecure #1 in MD and #2 in region1. For the record Calvert is a nice team just not a top flight team in my opinion yet, just need to see some big wins outside of EDP. DALLAS TEXANS 02 DALLAS (TXN) 1-2CASL JUNIORS LADIES (NC) 1-2CASL lost by Boston 3-1 (#4 in NE pre-ECNL Flight) at the CASL ShootoutWEST FLORIDA FLAMES EAST (FL) 0-2West Florida who got crushed by Boston 9-1 (#4 in NE pre-ECNL Flight) at the CASL Shootout
I keep reading goals are hard to come by in the top flights then I see teams like South Shore a very good team get beat down 6-2 by a GA team. I don't want to bring up NYSC and their melt down in MA earlier in the year but I will. I agree goals are hard to come by but I see these crazy scores and I wonder did the tournament people get those teams wrong or was it just a bad day. Just never thought I would see top teams give up more than 5 in a game
Statistical outliers exist throughout life
"So lets look at Calvert"Much of those points were from spring. Seems they cut back at least a bit in fall prior to Disney (which YES, was a pretty good showing taking on the elite - CASL game was payback for Calvert's spring win.)Plenty of top wins in spring
Isn't it fairly likely that a bunch of nj teams will be playing each other in 2nd flight? Especially after last year beatings, there is no way they will be put in top flight again.
My bet is that PDA AJAx or Dragons and Wildcats will be in top flight
Ajax and crush were both embarrassed last year - they don't derserve another chance. I think dragons and wildcats should be second flight and crush and Ajax third.
Can't argue against Wildcats but are Dragons ready?
Finaling SC, winning an event and league standing help Crush, make no mistakeBut indeed they will likely be 2nd flight.I'd have Ajax there as well - and Dragons further down
Winning an event? What event was that? these guys know that nj state cup was a no show this year - funny you even mention it. Careful what you wish for - only hope is that you send a bunch of teams down there because pda won't take you guys in their showcase.
What happened last time dragons played crush in real state cup? Should they be down a level because they play less than half of what crush plays in GS events? And I believe at time of you had two of your most valuable players that have sinced moved on greener pastures.
@805.......It's already been established that last Fall's State Cup was meaningless. Something like 14-15 of the top 20 teams in the State did not participate. Lets move on.
5:50 Spring was u12 - Yes good showing at Disney with no result (0 points) and like I said 2 of the Calvert couldn't score on gave up 12 goals to Boston Pre-ECNL. That's a top tier team, they out scored 2 of the teams Calvert lost to in Disney by a 12-2 margin. So my point - is Calvert a top tier team by dropping two games by a combined 1-4 margin when those same teams lost by a 12-2 margin to a top tier team in Boston. Just asking the question. To me that shows they are not at the same level of Boston but are close to CASL and West Florida when it comes to putting them in the correct flight.5:44 I guess your right.6:40 Not sure Dragons are ready, but they are the best u13 PDA team at Jefferson. They not only beat PDA Ajax head 2 head they also won the same league they were in (11 games played). What flight they are in, is up to Jefferson, but they should be higher than AJAX that's for sure. NJ Wildcats have done nothing to suggest they don't belong in the top flight and since one of their L's came to AJAX, maybe Dragons should get a chance. Correct me if I'm wrong - but didn't Dragons beat NJ Crush in a State Cup game the last time they played. NJ Team at Jefferson rank.NJ WildcatsPDA DragonsPDA AjaxSTA (I can't see beyond Manhattan 3-0 loss and please don't say forfeit - that's the worst thing a team can do, shows no respect) NJ CrushNJCSA GalaxyNJCSA ElitePDA ShoreAtlantic UnitedJust one fools opinion -don't take it to serious.
This Spring State Cup looking to be the same. No PDA teams and no MF Pre ECNL. rumors are MF NPL will play.
Trying to stir things up?Pass.
Dragons tied CrushDragons advanced on PKs
Please stop with Dragons/Crush. Last Spring and different teams.
Thank you!! From oh so many of us!
No acceptance for PA Classics in Jeff Cup. That had to be a huge blow to them. They did win the very bottom bracket last year, in a shootout, I believe. Guess it wasn't enough.
They took Atlantic United over Classics?Strange
10:49 You have a problem when someone brings up Dragons/Crush spring results but no problems when Calvert does. I agree with you but be fair. That comment was made to prove a point. We all know some teams lost key players and others added key players from u12 to u13. I saw the Calvert comment "Plenty of top wins in spring" with no one saying " Last Spring and different teams". Be fair
You just did.
I dont see any evidence Calvert is a changed team. And I think Crush is getting back to form nicely, with depth and healthDragons seem to be rising, but the next hurdle is a big one.
11:11 This why I am following the NYCSL NPL - It's a very interesting to me NYSC worked hard and put themselves in a great position and were given a gift when STA over booked their fall schedule while NJ Crush and ISA were off a little. No playoffs in this league they will play 7 games this spring an EVERY one is super important to these 4 teams if they want to book their spot to INDIANA to represent their league. The NorthEast Girls NPL isn't high on my must follow list. I think there will be no change in the top 4 teams. They will play 11 more games and the seeds will be the only things affectedwhich shouldn't matter becasue all these teams have a big sister that can help out with depth once they start adjusting their roster for the u14 ECNL season. The hot team in June will represent this league - not necessarily the best team.I am curious how NJ Wildcats & STA handle the Spring as both these teams are doing 2 leagues. Nj Wildcats are playing Region1 Champions League for a spot in West virginia which they already have as NJ NCS champion. They should have an easy path to INDIANA via EDP NPL, but I'm sure NJCSA & LVU will have something to say before the party is over. STA on the other hand will probably do EDP and NYCSL NPL again, they already made one mistake when it comes to scheduling, curiousto see how the Spring plays out.New England NPL NEFC in control with Oakwood having an outside shot if Bayside and Seacoast can steal some points from NEFC.Virginia NPL - three team race between PWSI, VA Rush and FCVI think BRYC wins the Region1 Champions league Blue with PWSI and 1776 having a sayPWSI also maybe over stepped by playing 2 leagues in the Spring -we shall see. I think red is the better flight as it has SOUTH SHORE, GREATER BINGHAMTON,PENN LEGACY & NJ WILDCATSJefferson is the 2nd tournament of the spring season but beat MSC Tournament to the party by releasing their accepted listed first even thought it's 2 weeks after. Either way 2 nice tournaments to follow before the Spring Season kicks of with seats to INDIANA and WEST VIRGINIA on the line.
#JeffCup2015 top brackets will be released Friday 10 a.m (boys) and 1 p.m (girls) Booth 440 in Exhibit Hall.
Did he just say"I think BRYC will win Champions League with 1776 and PWSI having a shot....."right after telling us that WILDCATS are playing Champions League?Good Lord
My bad - I see now he said BLUE
2:21 as he said there are 2 separate brackets of 6 teams each, then the top 2 from each side will make semifinals.
The CRUSH guy is like the Hess truck, he is back and on a roll. Let's hope for his sake the teams does the same. Was hoping he was one of the parents who went to pda, guess not....
Crush is Baaack!!Start up that Crush Copter! And charge up the video camera!
What do you guys/gals think about youth soccer turning to Birth year rather than July/Aug split? Is it better for soccer? never understood why we do that does anyone know why July/Aug split. Never understood how a girl born in Aug would have an advantage over a girl born in Jan. If this ever happens u13 becomes u14 for the girls born Aug-Dec. Any thoughts?
Doesn't matterWould just be a different group of girls at the younger and lower end.
You don't think it shakes things up a little? I think it shakes up the teams a lot some girls will not be able to play up a year and may in jeopardy of losing a spot. However, in another year or two when most of the kids are playing HS they will be playing with older kids if they play varsity, I see your point for the premier player it wouldn't matter.
No it would matter for the premier player. Take a club like PDA, you would be combining the girls from the U13 team born in the last 6 months 2001 with the girls from the u14 born in the 1st 6 months of 2001. For the Premier player it makes no difference in high school. Usually on each high school team there is 2 or 3 premiere players only.
If you look at the US National teams, on women's side, it seems to make a difference what time of the year you were born in. I broke it out in 4 month intervals. 1st qtr = Jan to April birthdaysU20 team 1st qtr - 17 girls2nd qtr - 12 girls3rd qtr - 12 girls4th qtr - 8 girlsU19 team1st qtr - 20 girls2nd qtr - 15 girls3rd qtr - 6 girls4th qtr - 13 girlsU18 team1st qtr - 26 girls2nd qtr - 20 girls3rd qtr - 10 girls4th qtr - 10 girlsI am not sure why the birth date seems to make a difference.
January-July birthdays would obviously benefit, theoretically. The elite Aug-Dec player forced to play with some bigger, oft times better players, would eventually benefit as well, though some others would struggle
Although my child has a July birthday and would benefit from it, I don't see any good reason to change the birthdate cutoff. For the vast majority of youth soccer players, soccer is about playing with your friends, almost all of whom will be in your grade. So keep the current Aug.1 date because it more closely matches the school year cutoffs. Individual players always have the option to play up if they want more competition or for Aug. and Sept. birthdays, to play with their grade.
@January 14, 2015 at 8:29 AM: Is that being discussed or is this purely hypothetical?
11:10 Purely hypothetical - with an answer to come in days. The Boy's DA and I believe the Boy's NPL are all Birth year. NPL followed the DA.If the girls get a DA - either a new one or if ECNL is sanctioned by the USSF as a DA then I think they will go to birth year there is no reason for them to be different. US club did hire a new CEO with big time MLS experience and if US CLub becomes a big player on the girls side with their ECNL and NPL I can see this happening. That's why I asked the question.
The Relative Age Effect (RAE) is very real in certain sports like hockey and soccer:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relative_age_effect That being said, wouldn't the current overall structure (league play has the Aug 1 cutoff while ODP and USSF training have the Jan 1 cutoff) help avoid the RAE? Under the current structure a player born in October is an older player for league play and a younger player for the birth year stuff. Sounds like a good mix to me.If you are going to make league play also based on birth year, then they should consolidate the age groups into two birth years. I.e., instead of U9, U10, U11, U12, U13, etc., you would only have U10, U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18. This would have avoid the RAE, too.
11:37 I agree like the boys do -u13/u14 is one group, u15/u16 is another followed by u17/18. Less teams this will make the NPL teams even more important if ECNL is sanctioned. I like that the College season will be Fall and Spring now. I also like that we have u12, u14, u16, u17, u19 NT teams also with 12, 14 & 16 being more the developmental ages before they get to play international CONCACAF games I am also curious to see if they change the below. How many teams play like this or train like this? This is what the USSF wants from our teams to develop our kids.Offensive styleAll teams will be encouraged to display an offensive style of play based on keeping possession and quick movement of the ball. Quick transitions and finishing Speed of play, avoiding over-dribbling, looking for an organized and quick movement of the ball and finishing will be encouraged in all age groups.Position specificA team must be organized defensively, keeping their specific positions in the formation. However, players will look for spaces and movements to support forward when attacking by moving away from their original positions.Formations4-3-3 formationTeams will use the 4-3-3 formation, either in its 4-2-3-1 or 4-1-2-3 variations. Teams in the advanced stage (U15 onwards) can also use a 4-4-2 formation with a diamond in the middle. This system(4-4-2 diamond) provides more space in the wide areas of the field for the outside backs to move forward and join the attack.TECHNICALPassing & receiving:Passing the ball on the ground with pace from different distances and receiving the ball while keeping it moving will be encouraged in all age groups.TACTICALPlaying out from the backAll teams must feel comfortable playing the ball from the back through the midfield and from there to the final quarter of the field.Possession & transitionAll teams must try to keep possession of the ball playing a one-two touch game. Players will be encouraged to support and move, thus creating passing options. Once the possession game is consolidated the team must learn how to transfer the ball in the most efficient way from one area of the field to another.CompetitivenessCompetitive players will be rewarded for their effort and focus.
If US soccer has girls DAP will it be free like the boys? How will that be financed? Or it will continue to be for well-off kids in which case nothing really will change.
Free?? No way. There is no $$$$ incentive to develop girl soccer players. Families are on their own.
All young ladies have the chance to learn the techiniques of football from a very yong age
Soccer Trolls, really, here???
I Posted a foundation to have some fun until tomorrow if you guys want.STA beat World Class and should be #4, but they lost to Manhattan 3-0 or forfeit, Nj Wildcats twice, Atletico, Calvertt & NYSC which knocks them out of the top flight in my opinion.1. FC Virginia Pre-ECNL 012. BRYC 01 Elite Virginia3. Cincinnati United Soccer Club CUP Gold4. World Class FC '01 Charlton (beat Dragons)5. PDA Dragons (beat Ajax) 6. PDA Ajax (beat Wildcats)7. I don't think both PDA teams get into the top flight, and I would switch-out World Clueless.
1:15 a joke right?
1:37 What's funny - besides yours post. Replace who with who and why?

1:50 That would be some flight, yes the list isn't perfect and of course Jefferson will probably have different teams Since I kept it simple just using GS and head 2 head games. If you want to replace a team tell us who will be the new team and why.
I would move Dragons and WC to second flight, and I would move in __________ and _________!How’s that, better?

Relax Mr. Yahoo, just pulling your chain...I think FC crush should be in top flight, they need a team that wears orange.
Jeff Cup likes 8 team brackets so I’ll go with a top flight ofBracket ATri-StateCalvertPenn LegacyWildcatsBracket BFCVWorld ClassCincyPenn FusionBased on their performance at Jeff-Cup last year, I would put in Tri-State (winner top flight 11v11), Cincy (top flight 11v11 runner-up), and Penn Fusion (winner top flight 8v8). And yes, last year is different from this year, but it’s a good tiebreaker and if for Jeff Cup, it rewards teams for a good performance in my tournament and makes them more likely to return. Between STA and Wildcats, went with the State Cup champ. Between Calvert and BRYC, picked Calvert to get a Maryland team in. While Calvert did poorly at Disney, BRYC did poorly at CASL.
Assume you mean CASL not Calvert. Either way, I'd put them in(CASL) in 2nd div and keep BRYC in top. Agree with the 8 team bracket though.
I meant Calvert. I don't see any reason why CASL would be considered before Calvert Crew.
You will find out tomorrow when real flights come out.
My bad, no one was mentioning Calvert before you and I didn't see them as I glanced the accepted list, only CES. Should have known. So yea, 100% agree. Planning on watching live tomorrow, guess we'll see.
PA bozos taking over the board todayBad enough bot Penns were in a 12 team first flight. Second bozo has them both top 8
Well said, 4:12. Good luck refuting that, Bozos!
Hahaha, no love for the Keystone cops?
OK Mr. Cranky, who would you replace them with then? I would argue PDA's A team doesn't deserve top bracket, so hard to see their B and C getting in. I guess you could make an argument for BRYC but who else?
I know this sounds lame, and it probably is, but if we don't get into the top flight I don't even feel like going...
