U14G / U14 Girls Youth Soccer

U14G  / U14 Girls youth soccer seems to offer the most teams and the widest diversity of talent.

Where these players will end up is anyone guess.

Welcome to the ride.

So who is going to Bethesda this year, anybody??

Anonymous said...

Not Us, I'm sorry to say but why travel so far to these tournaments I hopefully by the time my youngest daughter gets around EDP's fall tourney's will be the place to be as they are played on great fields and only 1-2 hours from the North Jersey, NY, PA, MD Etc. I personally like driving down 1 hour for these events.

Anonymous said...

Unfortunately PL will not be attending in Bethesda. Our club president will not allow our team to play since it is on the same weekend that we host one. Unlike the previous poster, I enjoy tournament play since its an opportunity to go up against good teams from other states. Starting to look like the hurricane coming up the coast will stay out over the ocean, good news for Wags.

Thanks bro, but you sound a little creepy there, is that a code for something?

Anonymous said...

Lets hope he's thinking about the beers at the hotel.

Anonymous said...

Besides the games, let's face it, it's the best thing about the tournaments.

Anonymous said...

And then there's the drunk moms in the hot tub after the kids are sleeping and all a sudden ...........

Anonymous said...

Haha, then all of a sudden you realize what you are doing, and run screaming from said hot tub!

Anonymous said...

True that. Playing Fantasy Soccer Parent is a far different game than the real thing.

Sorry, my mind was wandering, not sure NJ has a monopoly on loud and annoying Mom’s, personally I think Long Island has you beat, but that’s just me, enjoy the water!

New Jersey North? REally

Everytime I see a NJ South Mom, they are drunk, LOUD, annoying and no IT alls

Anonymous said...

Now that's a ranking can Gotsoccer start tracking that Ranking of annoying moms.

Anonymous said...

Does the Beyond annoying MF ECNL parent count as a Mom or a Dad, it's really hard to tell.

Anonymous said...

Good point. Where the men are men and so are the women. NJ north has to win out over NJ south, think of the teams in the north? Awesome looking moms that everyone loves until they talk. I have heard that annoying PA moms are working their way up the rankings. Could move up as high as #3 after Wags.

Anonymous said...

Nope New York SC will with there "Stand Out Player". LoL

Anonymous said...

There are a lot of second and third tier teams on that list. PF will be finalist in F1 and possible the winner.

Anonymous said...

Where have I heard that before? Oh yea, before EVERY major tournament they've entered for the last 2 years. Hahaha, are those West Chester Summer Classic championship trophies getting lonely on the mantle?

First Tournament Win? I hope they right their ship in league play first before it's to late.
They are lucky they have MF and PDA in their division.

Do you remember all that talk about PF NPL?
The lost to PDA North 1-0 and PDA South 1-0 in last year's playoffs (boy i hate playoffs)

Then they started off 2015 racking up some major GS pointswith some nice results

1-0 CONTINENTAL FC ECNL '01 (PAE)
1-0 SJEB '01G NPL (NJ)
1-0 YARDLEY MAKEFIELD SOCCER YMS BANSHEES (PAE)
1-1 ALBERTSON FURY '01 ECNL

Boy have they had a horrible start to their NPL season.

1-3 Match Fit Academy 01 NPL
3-0 World Class FC 01 NPL
0-3 PDA North 01 NPL
1-2 FC Stars of Mass 01 NPL

Then we have the darlings of PA? We read about how PL lost some of their better players to PF
and that PF would make a serious run at ECNL since NJ soccer can't beat teams outside of NJ.

0-1 BOSTON BREAKERS ACADEMY GU14 ECNL
5-0 NJ WILDCATS AVERBUCH-NPL
2-0 RAGE SC '01 ATHLETICA
2-0 PENN FUSION SA '01G NPL
5-0 HMMS EAGLE FC 01 SPIRIT
6-1 LDC UNITED ATTACK
5-0 BRAMS UNITED GRIRLS REBELS

Then they started league play and beat of on CFC Delco and WC before dropping 2 to PDA/MF and a tie vs FC Stars with Boston tomorrow.
let's see if it's still a1 goal game when it counts. Maybe they do win Bethesda because Tournamewnt play is where it's at right?

Mr. Playoffs

Anonymous said...

Mr. Playoffs. The "Darlings of PA" mantle is perfect. Unfortunately for PF, they're problem since going to 11v11 has been scoring goals. The players they have picked up have not helped in that area even a little bit. The Darlings can run all the cute little triangles they want, but the lack of an aggressive attacker is hurting them.

Anonymous said...

EDP Cup = NYE team versus Pipeline for final.

Anonymous said...

Pipeline??? Pipeline???? All those teams and you pick Pipe Dreams.

Anonymous said...

7:56 you forgot to sign off on your post like usual. Coward?

Anonymous said...

At the end of the day PF's competition alone will make them better players than those on teams who win 6-0 in mediocre leagues. So it's all good. Keep hating.

Anonymous said...

9:48 Do u mean like those great wins you have over FC Bucks and a host of other similar teams? Wasn't ripping your Darlings, just stating the fact that nothing has changed much since you guys went to 11v11. By the way, when is the last time PF beat a upper tier Ecnl team?

Anonymous said...

Still no sign off. It's ok, we know. Enjoy your daughters nail biting games.

Anonymous said...

@8:36 prey tell, please. It is local teams, I like this Platinum bracket.

Anonymous said...

11:14. Our team gets ripped on here many times and the person is very angry in his (or her) statements. Would love to find out what team they are associated with, but it'll never happen. Good luck at EDP Cup.

Many teams get ripped on. It all comes back to jealousy and frustration. People that are intently worried about other teams and players don't have enough excitement and positivity within their own kids team/club.

2015 REGION 1 FALL CHAMPION'S LEAGUE

It looks like this week's games were a rain out.

1) FC VIRGINIA UNITED 01 (3 pts)
2) HULMEVILLE SC DYNAMO (0 pts)
BEADLING SC ELITE
GREATER BINGHAMTON UNITED FC
PERFECT TOUCH SA GIRLS 01-02

our VA poster can you please clear something up for me the FCV United team playing in Region1 is not the same team that played at the NPL Finals if we go by GS accounts, Is this true?

Anonymous said...

Thanks 5:36, hope you enjoyed writing that profound message, actually, not exactly sure what you mean. It is the best of times, and the worst of times...

Best because my kid is in great form, and we are very proud.
Worst because the team has not performed, and it's depressing.

The girls are not playing poorly, they are having trouble finishing.

Anonymous said...

If your kid is playing great and the team is playing good soccer thats not a bad thing. Coach needs to take some responsibility for the finishing part.

Anonymous said...

6:43 - that's crazy talk - the coach has nothing to do with the players finishing it's not like they are on the pitch with the kids playing. All the coach can do is teach them how to move the ball, how the girls move the ball and execute their possession is on them. Of course we have coaches that provide instruction throughout the game (which I hate more than playoffs but not more that parents providing instructions from the sidelines) even these guys and gals are not to blame.

It's the player's responsibility to execute - to train on their own if they feel they need more or you play with the cards you have.

Anonymous said...

scorers go thru slumps just like any sport. Coaches job is make sure they don't lose confidence.

Anonymous said...

Its not easy for 13 year olds to score goals within our system, we always win the possession aspect, but all the other team needs is a miscue, or a flub, and they are off to the races. We need to string together 7-10 passes to attack, while our opponents require 2 passes, its so frustrating, its beyond belief. I wish that just once in a while, we would punt the ball, and send a ball over the top, just to even a score-line, but alas we play a certain style, and the style requires that there are NO weak links in the pass-chain, and how realistic is that for all 11 players at u14? I have turned to alcohol, it helps a little, especially when I am in the hot tub with the Mom from 1776 : )

Anonymous said...

850 - newbie here. can you say what team your kid plays for? maybe everyone already knows...but I do not.

Anonymous said...

I agree with Mr. Playoff and 8:44. My daughter is a striker and sometimes she can go on a goal scoring tear for 5 or 6 games. And then come up empty (even against a weaker teams) for awhile and your wondering how it looked so easy earlier. I have been told goal scoring is like bananas, they come in bunches. But it sucks when there's no bananas at all.
Its so important to have depth and have a team not reliant on one or two players to carry the scoring. I don't know what formations your teams play, but I hate (and I mean hate) when coaches play only one striker high.
PL Parent

Anonymous said...

Possession coaches so often make the mistake that their team must pass the ball and score off of pretty combination play. You learn the game of possession to teach the girls fundamentals of technical work so the girls learn how to be more technical soccer players but in a game you adjust your style to what the opponent is giving you . A clever ball over the top is as much a part of a strategy in a possession game as it is for a team that plays a straight forward English style game. The game should dictate the tactic.

Soccer Nut

Anonymous said...

I agree Soccer Nut, can you please give our coach a call?

Anonymous said...

Despite what GotSoccer may say, the FCV United team that played in the NPL finals is the same FCV United team that won the Virginia Premier League last year, currently leads the Virginia Premier League, is playing Region 1 and will be in the 3rd flight at WAGS. I cannot explain why GotSoccer lists another FCV team for the NPL finals but since no points was earned, it doesn't really matter.

Anonymous said...

9:22, that is not important.

There are probably other teams that are experiencing the same situation, just blowing-off some parental steam, no big deal, especially since I cannot do anything about it. Like I said, my kid is playing really well, and that is the silver-lining that we should all hope for.

Anonymous said...

As the Soccer Nut said "game dictates tactics". You may have a coach that is a better at teaching technical skills, but not quite as strong at the tactical end. But that is not a truly bad thing at this age, although winning is kind of fun.
PL Parent

Anonymous said...

9:53 If you know your team manager you may want to ask them to look into it.Yes no GS points but playing NPL FINALS is a nice resume builder maybe could have got the girls in F2 at WAGS? Stranger things.

Mr Playoff agrees with you 10:29

Anonymous said...

Speaking of Playoffs, it looks like the news of our ultimate demise were premature, and I have to say is:

THANK GOD, I LOVE PLAYOFFS! LOL_LOL_LOL

https://www.nyclubsoccerleague.com/html/npl/current/playoffs.asp

I know, I know, but its my world, and I will alter reality when necessary.

Anonymous said...

Mr. Playoff and Soccer Nut. Do u like a formation of 4 D-backs, 1 holding mid, four mids and one striker? I understand you can get better control in the middle of the field, but your wings are forced to relieve pressure both offensively and defensively. I like two strikers high, which may give up some mid play one the outside, but I think it keeps teams more honest on defense up the middle. Thought?
PL Parent

Anonymous said...

We play a 3-3-4, with a holding-mid, so we have 2 attacking mids to support the striker and wings. Is that working right now, not really, but I see what they are trying to do, but it ain’t easy. Perhaps we should use your configuration, can’t hurt, I will shoot our coach an email, what do you think?

Mr. I Love Playoffs

Anonymous said...

8:23 what team are you referring to?

Anonymous said...

Nysc.

Anonymous said...

STARS 8
FC Bucks 0

Anonymous said...

The 3-3-4 is good in that it is suppose to give a ladder effect (support)from one tier to the next. Any team running this must have wings that are relentless and in great shape. I guess we have have to believe that a coach knows his players and what they do well, and is doing his best to set them up for success. Or is challenging them to be more than they are at the present. Maybe i'm giving coaches to much credit and most of them try to pound a square peg in a round hole.
PL Parent

Anonymous said...

11:52, I can neither deny or confirm, but why is that so damn important, are you interested in gloating or bashing?

Go ahead, give it your best shot....

Anonymous said...

Mr. I Love Playoffs. In playing the 3-3-4, do you find that opposing teams tend to control the outside 10 yards on both sides of the field? Our high school runs the same formation and this tends to happen. Plus, our outside defenders like to stab at the ball, so guess what happens next?
PL Parent

Anonymous said...

I don't bash. Unless a blogger is from that team being discussed they know nothing. Some sure think they do though!

Anonymous said...

FC Bucks appear to be in the wrong league.. -25 goal differential ouch.. Going to be a long season.

Anonymous said...

Yeah but their players are learning to play at a higher level and have a quicker first touch on the ball. The losses will be by lesser amounts as the season progresses.

Anonymous said...

I do agree while they can't stand in comparison to any other ECNL team in the league, not even sure they can hang with CFC, they are being challenged game after game. I'd like to see them in tournament play outside the ECNL league to see how they do.

Anonymous said...

2 things

1. Why the FC Bucks hate - we all know this age group wasn't strong last year so more of the same this year.

2. 2:29 you talk like the losses will be for lesser amounts because they are getting better, okay are the other teams not getting better for this to happen? Unfortunately, the only way they right that ship is by bringing in players that can play at that speed already or they pull a MF out of the hat and talk a good team to leave their club to join theirs.

GS 4 Life (to many mr playoff handles)

Anonymous said...

3-3-4 or 4-3-3?
Do you know that convention dictates the numbering from the back forward?
A 4-3-3 is usually 4 backs, 1 or 2 holding mids, 1 or 2 attacking mids depending on the number of holding and 3 forwards- 2 "wing" forwards and a center striker. There are variations as in a 4-2-3-1
where the wind forwards are more flank attacking midfielders with some increased defensive responsibilities etc.
common alternative formations: 4-4-2- the US women played this unsuccessfully in the initial phases of the world cup. often with a diamond midfield- 1 holding 2 wide midfielders and 1 attacking midfielder. Similar 4-4-1-1 with on target forward and one "withdrawn" forward in the "hole" similar to an attacking midfielder playmaker. There are many others of course: the old Barcelona false 9 formation etc.

Anonymous said...

Wasn't FC Bucks hate, just an observation. Getting dominated week after week doesn't benefit players.

3:29 I was thinking the same thing. 4-3-3

Anonymous said...

3:10 Q#2 - how many high level players do they need to bring in to be competitive in ECNL?

Anonymous said...

Dictate this.

Anonymous said...

Ha! That's not hate. I've seen hate on this board. People hate on teams that are either competitive with or better than their own kids.

Anonymous said...

3:29. Yeah, your right and that was kind of stupid of me. Sorry to confuse anyone with that.

So as we approach the half-way mark of the fall season, I can give you my humble impressions of various teams. Just pick a team, and if we have played them, will give my honest opinion, no agenda, no bashing, just solid soccer opinion.

Anonymous said...

enlighten us with your knowledge of teams playing in F1 of WAGS this weekend

Anonymous said...

In response to an earlier poster....the FCV team playing in Region I Fall tournament is the same team as played at NPL Nationals. GotSOccer posted results for the wrong team at Nationals. they posted results under the 3rd team not second team.

Despite the travel involved, Region I Fall tournament is good competition with tough games. FCV has won both games so far (Hulmeville and Beadling).

Unfortunately the VA NPL is not as competitive. There are 3 teams that are way ahead of the other teams (FCV, VA Rush and PWSI although PWSI do not seem as strong this year). The other games are just not competitive and FCV have won their last 3 games 10-0, 7-1 and 6-0.

Shame but seems to be the way around most leagues. WAGS in VA is dead...nothing left of any note and CCL appears to have 3 or 4 teams that are good with the remainder being mediocre.

I wanted to pick PL vs FCV and STA vs TSF I was on the fence with these 2 flights.

FCV to win it

Anonymous said...

GS 4 Life. I did not think the picks were bad, and I'm a PL parent. Although last time PL played TFA, Legacy won 3-2. So obviously we are hoping for more of the same. Also think the second flight will be won by the Wildcats, but in B flight, lets hear it for Kings Hammer out of Kentucky! What a great name.

TFA vs Florida Elite (expect a good game)

FCV vs CASL

Anonymous said...

There will be at least one surprise team in the Cup flight semifinal. Has CASL every played PL? PL beat Florida 2-1 last year at Discovery, but lost to FCV 1-0 in a slop fest at Jeff, so the score could have been much worse. I know there are very few of what are considered top teams, but there has to be a team that could surprise everyone. Fredrick of Maryland???

The FCV vs PL match was wet , not sloppy. Nothing like the PL vs Wildcats game played that afternoon where a quarter of the field was under standing water. Not sure why you assume it benefitted FCV. FCV only got off one shot on frame the whole game compared to about 6 for PL. game really could have gone either way. PL's midfield got out played but they had far more scoring opportunities and gave up far fewer. FCV was a classy team as well as incredibly skilled, hope to see them again this weekend.

Anonymous said...

Sorry

"Not sure why you assume it benefitted PL"

I love seeing games played on short wet grass. The ball plays faster as there is less friction.

Anonymous said...

Crew Jr and Oakwood in the FCV bracket was a tough draw for them. I believe Florida will come out of their bracket with relative ease. The second bracket is more interesting because there is no dominant team.

Anonymous said...

Does anyone have confirmation that the new ECNL ages will be: U13, U14, U15, U16, U17/18?

Anonymous said...

The second bracket is a rematch of FC Delco's third bracket with FC Frederick replacing Ajax. I may be partial, but I will predict similar results.

Anonymous said...

Triangle Futbol will take the second flight, with Cleveland coming in second.

Anonymous said...

Doesn't seem like many top teams are in tournament play this weekend from the looks of it. FCV is one of the few. Would've liked to see them up against at least one other team would could've taken that title from them. Don't see it happening though.

Anonymous said...

FCV is a very good team but there’s no guarantee they’ll win WAGS. CASL tied them 0-0 last month. BRYC tied them 0-0 though extra time at Bethesda last year. They only beat Crew Jrs, Penn Legacy and TFA by one goal last time they played each of them.

I’m still picking FCV to win but this will be no cakewalk for them.

Anonymous said...

Last year? You need to stop looking at results from U13. How many teams have added players, lost players, changed coaches.... You need to look at results from 8/1- now. CASL tie may have been a bad day for them but it still was not a loss. Look at every other game they've played so far this season. They've had no issues and will have none at Wags.

Anonymous said...

Have a question for all the ecnl lovers. Your philosophy is that ecnl is by far the best league. Taking bucks as an example aND losing every game 5-0 and 8-0, you really think your are getting better. Do you really thing college coaches are going to come just because your play ecnl???? Just looking for opinions.

Anonymous said...

It is unfortunate what is happening to Bucks. I believe that there are a number of teams better than ECNL teams, especially at U14. However, there is no denying, many college coaches do come to ECNL games, beginning at U15, next year it will move to U14. Is your kid going to play D1 just because they are ECNL - definitely not. But, the exposure that ECNL provides cannot be beat. Just look at the rosters of college teams and see where they played.

Anonymous said...

Ok, look at this year and you’ll see that FCV has only beaten one good team, Ohio Elite. The only other good team they've played, CASL, held them to a 0-0 tie. They beat some not-very good U15 teams at Greensboro, the highest one of which is ranked #265 in the nation and 9th in Virginia. In ECNL, they beat up on some more non-descript teams, such as Md United, which couldn’t even win it’s bracket at Olney, last place Richmond United, and the a team ranked #9 in that powerhouse soccer state of Indiana.

So stop being a hypocrite because all of your faith in FCV has to be based on what they did last year, not this year.

Anonymous said...

FC Bucks have lost big so far to Boston Breakers, FC Stars, PDA Storm, and Matchfit. These are some of the best teams not only in the region but in the country. Are they on the same level? Obviously not. As a previous poster said I also would like to see them outside ECNL in tournament play to see how they do. Are they just that bad or is it their league competition that making them look that bad? I don't see scouts going to watch and FC Bucks games anytime soon.

Anonymous said...

FC Bucks show 15 rostered players which is good for playing time but what does that say about the program attracting players? Are they remote (far away) from population centers? Players and parents are fools for playing on teams with 25-35 rostered players and being told that everyone has to play and you have to sit so many games and minutes. FCB takes it the opposite direction and it's only relevant because they are NOT providing a quality match for any opponent going 0-5 with not a single goal scored. This can't be good for anyone.

Anonymous said...

Why are people beating up FC Bucks at this age? They are not strong, this is a known fact, their other teams are okay. Don't compare your u14 team to them compare your club's u13, u15, u16, u17 & u18 teams also. ECNL is a CLUB league where every team contributes to the best club award.

Besides I can see ECNL adding a few local teams once sanctioned by USSF. I can see PAC & NJCSA being included from PA & NJ since they are full DA clubs on the boys side, by full I mean they have a u15/u16 & u17/u18 teams and not just a u14 team. I can also see Oakwood, Seacoast & NEFC being added.

I would love to know who your kid plays for that you don't think there are at least 6 "top teams" at WAGS. Who else would you like to see there.

Anonymous said...

123 Totally agree! & 207 You are correct they will be adding a few more ECNL clubs within the next couple years.
What is happening to Bucks is just a transition period with a new coach and newer players I'm sure more players will flock to the ECNL league as they get older in ages and if they can't get on one of the stronger ECNL teams then they will look to the weaker ones like Bucks(25 GA) or Texas Rush(30 GA). I do agree that the league has weaker teams but what league doesn't but the exposure portion is critical like someone mentioned before PDA, Boston, Match fit, FC Stars are all strong ECNL teams and will attract coaches to their games and the showcases. And if the weaker ECNL team plays that stronger ECNL team while coaches are watching it only take’s 2-3 players on the weaker ECNL team to get notice as well. This has happened numerous times in this league.

There is a BUT though - if you’re on non-ECNL team that is rank highly and already play in high level tournaments the exposure is almost identical to a weaker ECNL team in my opinion. I think it is more a parent preference if they cannot get on a Strong ECNL team(PDA, Boston Etc.) to have their daughter play on one of the weaker ECNL teams OR play for a top 10 Non-ECNL team in the region it comes down to cost and distance of those clubs in my opinion. These are just my thoughts on ECNL and Non-ECNL landscape.

Personally my daughter and I chose the ECNL path for now and will see how it goes the next 2 years.

Yeah that's the age groups
Makes sense and there is only one real downside. When the 01s are rising Juniors they will have to make a combined u18 01/00 team. I think a lot of solid 01s wont make it and you will see some really strong u17 01 NPL teams that year. Like the boys; DA "off year" preacademy NPL teams

Anonymous said...

12:29 would never post his kids team. Especially since his daughters team has most likely lost to many of the teams at Wags. Its easier to blast those teams on the blog since its obviously not happening during his daughters games. But he's probably just repeating what his coach or club president told him.

Anonymous said...

There's 4 solid teams at WAGS that could contend for the championship. Eh, not exciting enough for me.

Anonymous said...

I think 4:45 should go back to competitive cave-diving, its more exciting.

Anonymous said...

So 4:45. Besides adding South Shore or Boston Breakers. Who else do you add to make it a more exciting tournament? Don't give us PDA, because everyone knows they wouldn't come anyway. Unfortunately you daughters' exciting team is not going. Which I see you still don't want us to know what major team that is.

Anonymous said...

I assume your kids team is in it and I hurt your feelings. Oh well. Can't wait to see the results! Oh wait, I can.

Anonymous said...

Sorry but the top 5 teams bringing the point value to WAGS - (FC Virginia, Total Futbol, CESC, Penn Legacy, FC Federick) + CASL, Florida Elite, PA Classics, and PWSI make up for 9 great teams in flight 1 at WAGS. I'm sure there will be surprises didn't CASL just tie FC Virginia. So you never know who will be the righteous champs, plus many of these teams from further away carry guess players to these tourney's so you never know. Good Luck to All!

Anonymous said...

Is NEFC playing in any tournaments? Haven't seen Top Hat either. What else is going on other than WAGS, EDP Cup, and CFC?

Anonymous said...

6:30

You are forgetting Crew Jr and BRYC both of whom I would put ahead of PAC or PWSI.

Just my opinion but there are 6 teams who can pull out a win against each other on any given day. FCV will win more often than not and I will also consider them the favorites. But if any of the other 5 win it I would not consider it a major upset. There are also 4 more teams who could win against those teams on a good day so no real easy games. I have watched 9 of these twelve teams play in the last year, it will be a hard fought weekend. And if FCV does win nobody should diminish that accomplishment by acting like they had no real competition either. I am guessing people who have never seen most of these teams play are just running their mouths.

Obviously have not seen the team play this season. MF ECNL is still players from Pre-ECNL.

Anonymous said...

Didn't MatchFit lose one of the best players in the area?

Anonymous said...

They lost a player, not a teammate

Anonymous said...

And now she is Storms problem.

Anonymous said...

@10:22, wow, that is profound, but understood. Being a team mate is how you really, really, really win, hands down. Players come and go, great ones here and there on each team here and there, but a cohesive team, that are actual team mates, that is what coaches need to nurture and teach these 12 and 13 year old impressionable girls, their is no "I" in "team mate", or to quote the Navy seal movie GI Jane. "there are two words you will learn to put together: Team-Mate."

Anonymous said...

I'm not dissing match fit, have always respected the team. However after watching a few games this season I thought Albertson look better. It was a close game I thought match fit certainly had more chances to win. I just don't like their style of play this year so far. I know they have some great players and a boatload of new players. It looks like a work in progress , good luck the rest of the season.

9:16am Yes MF has Pre ECNL players on the current team. I also notice several very good players playing for NPL, in my opinion are far better than the New ECNL players. Mixture of new players, personally do not play soccer. very evident in play

Anonymous said...

218 Do you think the Pre-ECNL players Matchfit are bring up to play U14 are mostly the 02's and they are matching up and testing players more by year with the change occurring. Plus I'm sure there are high school players that will be back on the roster after HS season is over. Not sure but what many think but even with a lost of a player and bringing younger players up and newer players on the roster they are still competing and not getting blown out.

Anonymous said...

Mix and Match Fit.. You never play the same team twice. Good for them to have a big enough club to do that.

Anonymous said...

2:57 - That may have been correct in the past, I do not know... As a new MF parent there are zero new faces on our team week-to-week or day-to-day. And as far as I am told, that will not happen. Pretty weak field at Discovery Cup. No excuses for 1776 not to win the top flight.

Anonymous said...

I'm picking Penn United to win it. They hand PA Classics a 2-0 loss in Pags just a few weeks ago. There is an ECNL team in it also, no idea how strong they are though.

Anonymous said...

You people are clueless and no nothing about how MF operates. Pathetic bunch you are. Everything said here is ridiculous. Keep hating and just watch the MFA teams achieve on the field. BTW, I am a parent of a child in that club but not U14.

Anonymous said...

PAC is swarmed with injuries right now, not just a couple. Will make it tough on them this weekend.

Anonymous said...

Can't use the injury excuse on this blog. Real good teams are deep and injuries are just a reason for the next star to step in. Every team is carrying injured players at this time, many due to school ball play and bodies being pushed a little to much. You don't hear ECNL teams complaining about injuries.

Anonymous said...

11:04, that is not a fair comparison because ECNL teams have rosters of 24+ players, 10:56 is simply stating reality.

Anonymous said...

Agree with 11:04, no excuses with injuries!

Anonymous said...

When a difference maker is out. That can be huge for a team.

Anonymous said...

And all players aren't created equal even on an ecnl team.

Anonymous said...

PL is without their starting center back and outside/mid for this tourney. If we want to believe we're a good team, then we should be able to overcome these injuries and do well. The players out were starters for obvious reasons, but if the girls don't do well at Wags, it won't be because we're missing two players. Missing a starting Keeper is the only exception I see here.
PL Parent

Anonymous said...

Disagree. While a team is a team full of players that all contribute. One player that is a difference maker can make a huge difference.

Anonymous said...

And I am not talking about a starter

Anonymous said...

Sorry difference maker or not a team with full depth will overcome things. Sorry but excuses are starting to pile up and the 1st day of the tourney hasn't even started. Its funny how it's the PA non-ECNL teams putting their excuses up already.

Anonymous said...

I see you want to put everything in a nice little package for the sake of this blog. But a difference maker changes a team.

Anonymous said...

What about parent who is difference maker, nobody talks about them....

Anonymous said...

A difference maker "teammate" can make a huge difference. A difference maker "player" can hurt a team when they're on the field. That's a fact. Just ask parents on both MF teams last season

Anonymous said...

847 exactly sometimes teams play better collectively when one player is not on the field causing distractions. MF is still competing at high level that's gives all you teams that are building excuses for this weekend a mindset to achieve things without or without your injuries.

Anonymous said...

8:08. You used the term PA "teams" are making excuses. Just one team is. If a coach is missing, that would be a difference maker (especially with a girls team). But if one person is that big of a difference maker, then your team isn't being taught the right way to play. Lets get the ball to "Susie", sort of ended at 8v8.

Anonymous said...

I have to disagree A difference maker makes other players around them better. If a player disrupts chemistry she is not by diffenition a difference maker. And their are certainly difference makers in youth soccer.

Soccer Nut

Anonymous said...

There will be a new NJY cup champ this fall.

Anonymous said...

Good job 9:22. I hate excuses more that GS 4 Life hate playoffs.

Anonymous said...

I always want to know who is playing for a particular team before i place a wager. Who plays makes a difference. But I can certainly see why that would not be accepted on this forum. Most of the times it can't be verified, so we automatically turn it into an excuse. But in real life if was placing wages, the first question I would ask in any contest is who is healthy and who is out of commission?

All players are not created equal

Anonymous said...

So let’s explore 8:55’s comment alleging that missing a coach would more negatively affect a girls’ team than it would (I presume) a boys’ team. Why would this be so? Is the premise that girls require more off-field leadership than boys? But wouldn’t girls tend to better collectively work together than boys? I am interested in learning more about the reasoning behind 8:55’s comment.

Anonymous said...

Didn't PL say they were missing players also so that's 2 PA teams 8:55.

10:30. PL did say they were missing players, but if you read the post, it also states that it should not be used as an excuse if the team does not do well at Wags. We carry 16 players and sub in 5 at a time during all games, so all the girls pretty much receive equal playing time. So how can we say that this girl wasn't ready or not use to a certain position? Its a team game.
PL Parent

Anonymous said...

Lets talk about it 9:45. In my experience in sport and having kids (both girls and boys), I have found that girls like continuity in what they are participating in. More so at the younger youth groups and probably up to U14. After that, I think girls become more confident in themselves and a change in coach before game time isn't as disruptive. Boys tend to only care about getting in the game and playing well during it. Girls, especially at the younger ages, need confidence to play well. Your thoughts?

Anonymous said...

Yes but you still put it out there. Slick way or not just don't mention it. Mentioning it will just get you ripped apart on this board as you can see.

Anonymous said...

Pl parent .

Players are not equal. coaches always make adjustments when one player or another is not playing well. When you have a difference maker on your team that brings up the level of play on the field then that player is truly special. If you are missing that difference maker, you can certainly insert another player and call it a team game but the quality of play may change and the tone of the game may be different.

Do you disagree with this concept. Interested to hear your point of view.

1156 great observation as girls and boys are total two different aspects for sports thus why I do not understand the U.S. initiative to make changes on the girls side as they have been succeeding for years it's the boys side that has not. I also totally agree with girls its about confidence that either helps excel there development even being on a high level team and sitting more time than normal helps a girl as she becomes confident during practices and her mindset of making a top notch team.

Anonymous said...

Soccer Nut. I do agree that there are outstanding players on teams that can have a direct impact on the game. But would you agree that even game changing players can be nullified by a smart tactical coach, and at this age group can often cause a team to become too one dimensional as a team becomes to reliant on this girls success. I have seen this first hand with my daughters former team when she would receive the ball and other players just stopped and watched. This might be one of the worst forms of coaching at a youth level.
I would like to ask your thoughts on which positions you feel are the most vital and costly to lose a game changer? Center Mid? Or does it depend on a teams formations?
PL Parent

Ok 12:01. You got me. I am really trying to be slick and slip one by you guys and I would never guess that I would get ripped on this board. Who on this board would possible care who is missing for PL (except you)? I was responding to an earlier post. So come on, lets hear your intuitive post figuring out the real subject matter of what I'm saying.

Anonymous said...

Same here 12:06. I do not understand why they are looking to change the girls side either. Are the boys trailing in international play because other countries have had such a head start? Or is it because most of our best athletes play other sports? The US girls program produces players that dominate the international scene, yet now there is need to change it. Maybe the Soccer Nut or GS 4 Life can explain the rational behind it.
