Think about half of the 2002s were with MFA last year. ECNL team added some pretty talented kids from other clubs. I am curious what the team will look like.
3:59 Maybe because the 9th graders didn't participate ?
7:00 Why wouldn't they if they are on the team? Please don't tell me they would leave their team behind -the team that will get them to the promise land to play for their high School team. In my opinion any player that doesn't pick their team first shouldn't be on the team period. Let them fend for them self if that is their choice. Non-ECNL teams need to more successful then their ECNL counterparts to be accepted to top flights to benefit the team. If players aren't ready to contribute to that then they shouldn't be there in the first place. We always talk about taking HS away from kids how about the kids that pick the club first? What of them and the money their parents spend to play short at tournaments?I say keep it simple - Premier Clubs should put a stop to this or drop their tuition at this age and older - I thought these were the important years for kids to get on a college radar? If that's what they want they need to pick club over HS simple - or play HS/ODP and as many other sports that they want.
Overall, the non-ECNL teams were more successful than the host ECNL team at Spirit.
Most teams are not even playing right now, so until November you won't know much.
8/21, 3:59 - Although most people already know, North United is one of the better USYSA teams. They are from Pittsburgh. They will be playing EDP 1st Division South this fall and National League this year. North United and SJEB/Rush (FKA NJ Rush Blue, FKA Renegades, or whatever) have had a few close games recently. A reminder, U15 NL stacks up as follows:HMMS Eagle FC 02 Impact Eastern Pennsylvania Region I New Jersey Rush 02 Blue New Jersey Region I North United Rush 02 Pennsylvania West Region I YMS Premier 02 Eastern Pennsylvania Region I CUP 02 Gold Ohio South Region II Chicago Fire Jrs. South Premier Illinois Region II Sporting Omaha FC Elite 02 Nebraska Region II Nationals Union 02 Black Michigan Region II Solar Chelsea 02 North Texas Region III Tennessee SC 02 Showcase Tennessee Region III 02 CASL Ladies Red North Carolina Region III Sting Austin 02 South Texas Region III Arsenal FC Academy 02 Brown California South Region IV Legends FC 02 Academy California South Region IV La Roca PO 02 Utah Region IV Fullerton Rangers 02 White California South Region IV
So can someone please tell me why Rush went to NPL finals, seems like they tried to do both, and were a miserable failure at USYS Finals, too much soccer?? Rush is still a great team, and will have much success this year, good luck to them, and good luck to all...
Failure? They got their players to national Events twice in front of college coaches, that my friend is a success. Who cares how the team did in regards to results I'm sure they wanted to win but as long as the players had a chance to show what they have at that level individually it's a win many schools that went to CO & TX won't come to region1 events. The correct amount of soccer pal.PA has HMMS & YMS as 02 team destinations and NY Rush represents NJ in NL and if they are doing both NPL and NL that'sa huge win win.In regards to not all the teams showing up true - but we know how the teams that did stack up.
937 must be referring to CFC ecnl who played in the tournamanet. They didn't even finish league last year because they were son bad and teams were beating them by 6 plus points by halftime.
159 so are you saying an ECNL team did not finish league play, wouldn't that club be placed on probation or something especially with so many clubs trying to get into the ECNL league.
They should be, not sure how they got away with it. They literally could not compete, it was sad and not fun to play against them.
Wrong CFC - Although they do look alike. Neither one very strong according to results.
Are we talking about last year U13 or U14? As U13 was still pre-ECNL and U14 was ECNL and yes based on the ECNL teams do get placed on probation.
You can tell there are many newbie's on the blog coming from U13. 243 That's Pre-ECNL which doesn't even gauge what the teams will be as the ECNL website will have more info per team. To what I hear the ratio of U15 2002 ECNL teams like PDA, MF, WC, and so on have a 65-80% ratio of HS to 8th grader on the teams. So again let's not gauge and point out teams if you do not even know what your looking at. I think NL USYS will be the league to watch this coming year, I think those teams will be just as strong and comparable to the top 5 ECNL team.
@10:28 So I am at beach yesterday with friend of mine talking about who this team is? Thanks for the information and listing. Good for them, they won top bracket at Spirits, what else can you ask for. All of these teams are great teams below. Makes sense. YMS the weakest, HMMS just keeps getting better. HMMS Eagle FC 02 Impact Eastern Pennsylvania Region I New Jersey Rush 02 Blue New Jersey Region I North United Rush 02 Pennsylvania West Region I YMS Premier 02 Eastern Pennsylvania Region I
Good teams, not great.
News Flash!!!THERE ARE NO COLLEGE COACHES AT A U13 GAME, UNLESS ITS THE COACHES KID.Carry on being stupid.
447 HaHa Spot On! I think is the most truthful fact this month. At least someone with some sense around here.
Isn't this u15? Most of these girls are in first year of HS and they will be recruited this year. And coaches will be watching.
Agree - the best girls in this age group will be getting looked at the process begins this year.
Debated whether I should respond, so here goes. The OP was talking about this past summer, when the Rush team was playing as U13 team, then someone pointed out that college coaches don't have time to attend those games, even if they are national events.
okay, that conversation ended long ago, let it go. This is now u15.
Just to clarify some of the discussion here... for U13 Pre ECNL last year, Connecticut FC dropped out for the spring Season. Continental FC stayed in and had a ok spring, beating World Class and Match Fit, tieing East Meadow and Penn Fusion, losing to Stars, Boston, Bucks, FSA, Fury. They ended the season 8th place out of 12. Match Fit did not report their last two home games, so this skews the standings on the npl northeast website.
Again why are we talking about U13 as many on this blog or heading into U15 were U14 players last year. I think someone posted yesterday a ratio of HS players so let's forget about the U13 years as this U15 year is the first of for many of actually attracting schools which is the most important fact of why our girls play club soccer. NY-North Jersey area will be a something to watch with 5-6 teams headed to girls DA next year with in a 2 hour distance from each other it will be a hub of soccer craziness up here.
And from Arlington County, VA, a traditional hot-bed of soccer, the latest news is that the School Board voted last week to make Ultimate Frisbee an official school sport for middle and high school students. Arlington County becomes the first school system in Virginia to make the game an official sport. “It’s a lot like soccer, but it has an aerial element that’s similar to football,” said David Soles, executive director of the Youth Ultimate League of Arlington. Ultimate will be a fall sport for boys and girls, so it will not compete with soccer, which is played in the spring in Virginia, although I suppose those in the DA will be precluded from playing. BTW, Long Bridge Park in Arlington is a beautiful soccer complex.
If the DA is not free, they should back off the no HS rule. They are out of bounds on this one. I get it, if they are offering scholarships to everyone, but not until they do. Maybe there is a lawyer in the house that can help us.
I believe MF has 2 2002 returning from last years team.
835 only 2 players, please think about your facts between last year's u14 and U13 I doubt only 2 players at 2002 are returning to the club especially with DA approaching for them next year so please stop with the rumors or false facts.
10+ 2002s were with Club last year. Team will be pretty good, brought in some nice players. Probably not equal to the girls that left, but close.
Some of you are getting your panties all bunched up over this DA/no High School issue!!It's YOUR choice people!! Academy has 4 training sessions per week, is your daughter really going to play for both?? Will your daughter even make the DA team? What is your daughter's plan with soccer? Take Abby Wambach's place?
My daughter is a top player on one of the top teams in state and always invited to every NTC and more. So yes, she has a good chance to make the team. HS is usually the best experience they have in their youth playing experience, so why take that away? Again, if they are paying the bills, I get it. Who gives a crap if it's not soccer up to your standards? What about the rest of the family, this take so much time, money and commitment from every family. Do you have other children? And for what, the 1 in 5000 odds that they may make a natl team roster? College is the end game for most of the girls and only because of a better education. The DA should be the natl team program and maybe triple it.
Agree - let the kids enjoy all of their youth experiences and high school is very importan and fun for the majority. Where else do you get to play in front of your friends, family and community on a regular basis. We really enjoyed our older kids experience and they always said it was the most fun they had playing.
It all hinges on what High School you can play for. You dont really have a choice of changing high school, like you would with a club. So, if your high school sucks, or is small - you can bet that playing DA w/o HS sounds like a great option. The equation is different if your school is bis and good. That may be a better option for younger players than a DA - if you're the sort of person that believes in playing against tough competition every time.
There isn't tough competition in High School
11:18pm yes from my understanding there are 2 players from old U14 team and 1 from u13 team (my old team). I responded to a question that read or possibly misread about players from old U14 team. I know many of my daughter players that were 02 did not stick around. most left prior to season ending last year.
525 . People like you have no life and I'm sure your daughter has no friends. It's your agenda and soccer is everything. Until she gets injured and has no identity.Very sad...
5:25 - These are arguably the top five pre-season public high school girls teams in eastern PA. Look into some of the girls who play for these schools and rethink whether there isn't tough competition. You'd be surprised who gets cut from these programs.Cumberland Valley, Mechanicsburg, PA Parkland, Allentown, PA Central Bucks East, Doylestown, PA Pennsbury, Fairless Hills, PA Neshaminy, Langhorne, PA
CHOICE people, stop bitching!!! Who is forcing your daughter to play HS soccer?Choose and move on, no need to belittle another person for choosing differently. There aren't 2 HS soccer programs that are the same anywhere! You can compare experiences but that's about it!I believe cross country and tennis are also offered in the fall....
Wake up 833 - the conversation has been around the DA and not giving a CHOICE to play HS soccer.
It's still a choice dumb assYou choose DA or you choose HSstop whiningGo Hillary!!
10:43 who are the clubs for these high school players? HMMS for Cumberland Valkey? PA Classics?
Yes plus PF, CFC, LVU, FC Bucks etc...
NJ has some very strong HS teams that many ECNL players play on and very hard to crack a Varsity team. Below are just a few but there are 5-6 other HS that are just as good. So like many have said it's a choice and by the time DA is fully rolled out it may not matter anymore to girls that are Sophomores, Juniors, or Seniors. Colts Neck: That has a U17 National player on it + others from PDA & MFNorthern Highlands: PDA & MF players on itImmaculate Girls HS: World Class & NJ Wildcats players on it
11:29 - Below is an approximate answer to your question about the club - high school alignment. The clubs listed below could be considered "home clubs" for the respective high schools. An easy call for Cumberland Valley and Parkland because the club territory is similar to, if not the same as the school district boundaries. It's more difficult to make that call for the other three schools because they are in very close proximity to each other. That said, all five schools have players representing many different clubs. Even as far west as Cumberland Valley is, it still has PF players.Cumberland Valley, Mechanicsburg, PA - HMMSParkland, Allentown, PA - ParklandCentral Bucks East, Doylestown, PA - FC Bucks Pennsbury, Fairless Hills, PA - YMSNeshaminy, Langhorne, PA - Hulmeville
@1105: Read all your post and then tell us who tne dumb ass is? Wow.
Basic English comprehension is required while reading these posts. Most are not reading to understand but reading while preparing a rebuttal in their head. Such arrogance and belligerence on display! In the words of Rodney King, can't we all just get along?
Ok 9:58, read slowly...Your daughter tries out for the DA...following so far?She makes the DA...are we good..?The coach then reminds her "hey Mia, you can't play on your HS team if you play with us"...still following?Whose choice is it now? Your daughter's and yours...dumb ass!Who is forcing you to do either? You may not LIKE the choice, but you choose the outcome.Simple English!
And another person who can't read simple sentences...
Sounds like every hates 6:54 ...
6:37, and 6:54 obviously Trump supporters, what are you guys doing after the election?
As Trump says, " if you don't agree with me, you're a LOSER." Make America hate again!
Have you heard about the lonesome loser, . . .
New York Surf 02 (Weschester) off to an unfortunate start, 0-6, 0-8, in the EM Tourney, not a good way to improve recruitment...
LVU has 2001 players playing at the 2002 level. K.B. #44 is one of them. Why is her name on the rosters for 2000, 2001, and 2002 teams ?
So sorry boss-man, me bad spell, but you smart, figure it our, yes?
I don’t like using that National Socialist word, so I will known from this day forward as: Grammar-Granny!
NY Surf has rapidly become the metro New York club to avoid. They promoted themselves all spring as the Holy Grail of girls soccer and the East Coast equivalent of San Diego Surf. They thought they could get a GDA and into the ECNL even though they they didn't exist prior to April. They didn't get a GDA. Now they are trying for ECNL. They have yet to name their Girls DOC who most likely is the fired Stony Brook women's coach (and fired for practiced that led to clams of her being "out of touch" with today's women's college soccer players). One of their selling points was the hodge podge collection of college coaches they gathered for the GDA app. The funny thing is that the '02 team is COACHED BY ONE OF THOSE COLLEGE COACHES and they still lost to EM ECNL's team 8-nil. NY Surf pulled off one of the biggest Bernie Madoff con jobs and unfortunately parents fell for it. I'm expecting an exodus next spring.
Very well writtenA crock, but thanks anyway for trying
I AM the Spell Check Nazi and will not be replaced that easily."I don’t like using that National Socialist word, so I will known from this day forward as: Grammar-Granny!"11:05, you seem to have forgotten a word...you have failed!
Regarding the HS vs GDA discussion...so many readers here seem to have difficulty understanding the blog posts.Whoever started the discussion is merely saying that your daughter has the choice to play either one. If GDA doesn't allow HS play then you have your choice of HS. Bitching about it doesn't take away the reality.Btw, your daughter needs to actually make the GDA to play....
Cumberland Valley took no freshmen on the varsity team for this year. Last year they only took a back up GK who didn't play much in the varsity games. The year before they took 3 9th graders and 2 made the NTC combine, regional ODP team and/or were national players. The year before there were a whopping 4 Freshmen 2 of whom saw a few minutes except the keeper who was the only one. Oh and the national player was the PA Gatorade player of the year last year. her freshman year they didn't take a kid on varsity who has been to national camp since. The top HS are very tough to make the varsity as freshmen. HMMS sets them up as youngsters with the skills and soccer IQ then only to go elsewhere for high school exposure it seems. The Impact might prove them wrong, but the United team, where most of the seniors are currently playing, have lost their best players along the way to the mega clubs to the east and south. In the future the best will probably go to PA Classics just like the central PA boys already do. BTW those top kids mentioned all play at Penn Fusion. Will a kid at this school and others like it choose to play JV for a year or choose to play in the GDA- never having understood what she will miss? What about at the other extreme. Will a kid give up playing on a team where she is targeted as the only dangerous player on the field, risking injury every game, for the better developmental advantage that the GDA will offer? Will the kids committed have their future college coaches demanding they give up high school for GDA? There are a lot of high schools still playing at middle schools on lousy grass fields. There are no "fans" except the parents. The schools playing in stadia after school when kids can come support the team are much less common. Will this be enough of a draw to keep the top kids in high school soccer? Time will tell I guess.
Are you allowed HS Tennis and GDA?
For the 11 or so kids per age group going to the GDA they won't care. The rest will still get to play high school.
Are you allowed to actually go to school and play in the GDA?
Yes still attend school.
I know of at least 5 kids that will make PDA next year and everyone of them wants to play HS and they all tell their parents this. And I'm sure all the other ones do too. Why wouldn't they?
What happens to the two current top teams at ecnl clubs who got the DA? Do they keep three teams now or drop one?
They will select some of those players and undoubtedly pull in outside players to form a GDAP class. The rest will play ECNL as usual.
What if the best players decide not to go GDA? Will GDA still be considered the top of the pyramid?
7:19 Of Course it will.GDA is the USSF - which is the US Soccer Federation the boss of all things soccer simple! If the best players want to play for the USWNT - they can live life dangerously and play ECNL/ODP or whatever if there is a GDA in their backyard. In a country this big they can be as subjective as they want.
From looking at the teams across the country the they let into the DA, it looks like the Northeast DA will be very strong, but the second level, Northeast ECNL will also be strong, most likely stronger than some of the other region's DA teams. The Northeast does not look too diluted yet, whereas parts of California and Florida will be really diluted. ECNL says more teams are getting accepted into ECNL, we'll see how that landscape changes. Any guesses on what new Northeast teams will join the ECNL?Also...I think some DA kids will still be playing high school next fall...especially the very top kids whose position will be safe even if they miss the DA fall season.
Northeast looks strong????How about NYC, Lower Hudson Valley and Southern Conn.?Morons in California, too stupid to taken seriously.
9:13 - what are you saying? That NYC, Lower Hudson Valley and Southern Conn need DA teams? Or that the teams their are weak? Maybe a NYC team will join the ECNL? And yes, the Northeast Teams (for both GDA and ECNL) should do really well at the national events.
8:08This statement of your certainly needs further reviewThey havent been clear - can players actually play HS and DA?Will they actually ASK players if they will forego HS ball prior to making the DA selections? How will each club handle this - or will US Soccer MANDATE how it is to be handled?I dont have the answers. We will be affected by them - and wait to see if there are any announcements.
The USSF will mandate no high school soccer for kids who are in 2021 (I think might be 2022) graduating classes and younger. For those in 2020 and older they will be grandfathered and allowed to play high school by the USSF. However the Clubs may very well exert pressure otherwise. That is because the GDA will be on a 10 month schedule as of 2017 fall season. So they will be training and competing during the high school season. The USSF says a player can NOT participate in both HS soccer and GDA at any given time during the year. So clubs will pressure kids to give up highschool or risk their spot. Top kids will be able to move right in from high school, but the clubs will likely choose the role players based on who can play all year round.
Unless a DA is compromised solely of players local to the DA, in which case a DA could not claim to be the best of the best, then figure a large number of players will have up to a 2 hour round trip per day to practice 4 days per week. By default, that amount of travel in addition to the practice time itself would preclude any other sports and many other activities. We live over an hour away from the closest DA and ECNL programs. Even if the girl was good enough to make the DA, which she may be, the commute is not compatible with our family schedule. Therefore, I suppose that we need to set the expectation that because she will not be associated with the DA or ECNL brands, she may find herself at a disadvantage in the recruiting process. On the upside, she may be able to continue with music lessons, perhaps play another sport, and maybe even attend some high school football games and other social events.
As I said doesn't matter if it is logistically feasible. They are not allowed to play both at the same time as mandated by the USSF. No club will risk sanction by violating that policy. You may see kids rostered who don't play DA during high school season and then join later in the year once high school is over
Wait until you hear from the da, you know nothing. All speculation until tne real rules come out. They change or mind all day long.
Agree, no one knows what the GDA will really do. This is why there is so little information.
Uh... the rules are out dude. They have been in place for the boys. The only difference is the grandfather clause for HS, but it is clear no matter the logistics a player can't participate in both in the high school season if they choose high school.
I dont see the grandfather clause in print anywhere
So if the rules are out and the same for boys, can we assume it's free and that some kids can still play HS? I'd the substitution rule and roster size the same? On tne boys side, this that have HS scholarships for playing soccer are allowed to play, is this tne same for the girls?
Ah, da, I don't know dude. But I know they have a choice.
https://ussoccer.app.box.com/v/girlsacademyapplicationRules are in the application. Its up to each club if they allow girls to play high school. You just cant play GDA and High School at the same time. GDA would still need to be able to field teams for the fall and any girls playing high school could not be on those teams in the fall.... but could return to the club after high school season. Remains to be seen if the clubs will allow it.
Regarding the "free" thing...you'll find that the only boys DA clubs that are offering this are the ones that have partnership/sponsorship from a MLS clubJust remember that your daughter has to actually make the team...don't get your panties all bunched up over the rules just yet!
115 Not totally correct bigger boy's DA clubs have players playing for free also. Also people forget as this is an 02 blog your daughter will be competing with 01's next year for a DA roster. They don't necessarily follow the birth year changes. Current Boys DA Age Landscape for 2016/2017:U12 - 04'sU13 - 03'sU14 - 02'sU15 - 01'sU15/U16 - 00's/01'sU17/U18 - 99's/98's
Is this accurate? Thus in fall '17 - first year of girls DA - '01s will be the oldest in their group ('02/'01)Same for '99's ('00/'99) and '03s ('04/'03)Is it mandated that clubs keep a good mix - such that there will be 8-10 slots for the '02s?
1:32Up to the individual club, no blanket statement works here
230 I'm 132 its a fact go ahead and look at the boys DA age groupings if you want. Why would the girls follow the same thing. Yes 2:02 it's accurate. I'm following what our DA club has mentioned already.
So let me get this straight as I have an 03 daughter playing up with 02's if she moves to a DA club next year and makes it she will be considered U14 come Fall of 2017. A little confused as I thought the reason to go birth year changes by the US Federation was to align every thing else up with the identification process why does DA do years like that and combine age years at U15/U16 & U17/U18
DA next year will be 1999/2000, 2001/2002, 2003/2004.
To put those year groupings in graduating class perspective you have:(12th and 11th graders), (11th, 10th, and 9th graders), and (9th, 8th, and 7th graders) in each of the three respective age groupings.
Any opinions good or bad about Next Gen Soccer ? Thanks !
Next Gen: hard to say. Girls side was Meredith, but she left and a new guy has stepped in (won women's premiere league last season). They started off as a Talent Identification program for EDP, created their select teams, and broke off from EDP. Their select teams end up getting showcased a lot (foreign tours, surf cup), but its seems its hard to break through from their Character of Champions into the select team. The training is decent - IMHO better than ODP, but i dont think their select layers participate on the Character of Champions training, so the dedication/competition at the training may be mixed.
NexGen also is just another Money Grab program! Another layer of supplemental training then big payout for (Camps, foreign tours, tournament like Surf Cup). Yes it can be better than ODP training but it doesn't have the exposure from ODP's regional tournament and Camp with collegiate coaches watching at U15 and above. Also foreign tours what's the point of that at this age and it's a 1% chance a player get's recruited at a West Coast School so no point to do Surf Cup. Focus on your club team ask for extra sessions with older teams if you feel you DD needs it.
Thank you both for your opionions . Many valid points . Since our family is not rolling in cash the oversea tours probably wouldn't even be an option for us . I will explore other options . Thank you !
Great we have Granny Nazi, and Money Grab Guy where are the rest of the folks that have been here the last few years. Wildcats Mom, Redhead, PL Guy, GS 4 Life Guy, etc. Nothing against Money Grab Guy but he does give valid points like why travel West when if you look at those rosters of the Cali schools it's a rarity of a player to choose or be chosen to attend a school out there. Makes me wonder why ECNL has holds it events out west.
If you made the NextGen select team, or Region 1 ODP, you are the 1%. Region 1 ODP with all the fees - probably a couple times more expensive. If you are not on a select team, and travel abroad - that's just sports tourism. Not good if you aint got that extra dough.
1008 Great points but again how do you get into the select and region teams by paying dues correct so the Money Grab Guy makes valid points. If your doing NTC monthly monthly and make it to the Regional NTC Combine which is all free, in my opinion those are truly the 1%.
I am the Grammar Granny, not Granny Nazi you putz. As fas as NextGen goes, if you got the money why not? Don’t see it as being super special, but what is, NTC? Kids can go there for years and never make combines, its just extra practice, again, if you don’t mind, its cool.
I think the issue is that you pay the dues and do not make the select team. IMHO, that's the money grab. NTC is the 0.1%. NextGen will tell you that "so and so select team had 3 NTC players" in the money_grab_advert. If you get free training (RTC) - grab it. If you want to see if you can get better training from your club or NextGen or wherever - see if you can attend a session. The training is probably for kids that are 2003 or younger..
One of the best players on our club’s 01 team has gone down with a serious injury, but now I fear that they will call-up my daughter to shore-up the team. I will object to this move, she needs to play her age 02, and be some kind of fill-in for the 01 team, even though she would be a big help to them. Any thoughts?
If the club values development over winning, it would first call up a "B" team player at '01, and if no "B" team, rotate call ups from the '02 team so that more than one player has the opportunity to play with the '01s, but they do not leave the '02s for an extended period of time.
That sounds logical and fair, let’s see what they do....
What are you afraid of?Get her in there vs older players if she has the ability.
ACL injuries are often just freak occurencesBlaming it on overuse is silly
8:55 I am not even going to debate that, since you are beyond the conversation. Do you even have a daughter playing soccer?
8:55Do you drive a white cargo van without windows by chance?
855 is correct. Move on dude, u are boring us.
Unlike many of the discussions on this Blog, overuse injury is one that actually has merit and is worthy of further discussion because there are varying medical opinions. One school of thought with respect to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), is that injury susceptibility may not be from overuse of the ACL itself, but overuse of the hamstring muscle group causing muscle weakness and imbalance. This can lead to increased strain to the ACL. Strength training should be part of any athletes training program, but is often overlooked in club soccer.
Yes, the science of injury is making great strides, but parents still do not understand that every player needs some amount of rest. As an example the train/play ratio should always be 3 x 1, it's the mandate from USSF, and I am a big proponent of the protocol. As far as ACL injuries, sometimes it's just genetics, and old fashioned bad luck.
High School soccer is tough to watch. I don't think there are ever 3 balls in a row played on the ground by either team...and my daughter's team is pretty competitive, it's just not good soccer.
First I did not say my daughters team sucked, I clearly said they are competitive (haven't lost this year, scrimmage and season games), second your passing team would be the exception for highschool. I have watched many games with the top teams in the state and the ball is in the air way too much and third, just because your team doesn't give up a lot of goals doesn't mean the team plays good soccer. Not sure why the GA is brought into the discussion?
I guess his "top shelf" daughter is the goalie?
My daughters HS team got clobbered last night, but there was a small silver-lining. One of the opposing parents commented, wonder why #? is not in the game, that girl could play. That made my night.
High school can be hard to watch, but it is about the team spirit building of an experience that the girls will take with them forever. And, this time of the year most of the play is about chemistry and learning to play together. Many kids don't even play soccer outside of school. And, sometimes the coaches out-coach themselves making switches that just confuse the kids (as they are not used to playing with each other and some are not soccer players outside of school) and the switches are not useful anyway. Most times, it's just long ball. Hope they have fun.
Yes, other than building friendships, high school ball means nothing in the true soccer world. The type of soccer, mostly long ball, the speed of play (or lack thereof), the unnecessary add'l practices, just hope they get through it without injury. Good luck to all in hs soccer, currently. Have fun!
And, hs ball keeps the local newspaper reporters busy and relevant. Miss those print papers.
I hear you about coaches outcoaching themselves. I have watched my kids' hs coaches continuously outcoach themselves the past couple of years. Luckily the kids can play. But this is why kids get hurt, too. And, they move kids to new positions gametime. What a mess. Team was quite successful with kids in their original positions. This is something you do in practice not gametime. This is how kids get hurt. They are not experiments. Some of them are going to play in college (some are already committed). I absolutely hate high school soccer. I can't wait for the DA next year.
I hear ya. In high school, they forget not everyone on the team/field plays soccer outside of high school or at the same level so making on the field positional changes with kids that don't know the other positions can be very chancey with the teams overall safety. Is it December yet?
And sad to say, there are HS coaches that resent club players and have an adversarial relationship with them. Such a power struggle. They think they should be the ones responsible for the player's skill and talent!
Anyone from bucks on this Board? If so, any input into the u14 team. They have played two games and getting destroyed and havnt even played the top teams yet. Doesn't seem right having a team already lose by more than 10 goals a game.
This is the U15 board, please go complain on the U14 board. Thanks in advance.
11:33 wrong age board but impossible to comment on this except that they are obviously a bad team
Just saw the scores on ecnl, this doesn't look right.
Bucks has internal coaching issues. There were several SJEB players on that 02 team last year that bolted once the season ended. From what I gathered, they didn't walk, they ran.I know of at least three 03 players who followed coach to 02 team. It's possible that this new 03 team is made up of 04s.
I thought SJEB merged with RUSH? Why would anyone leave a big merger for that for Bucks?

Aren't College coaches banned from going to North Carolina because of HB2?
No the college coaches will be there. And down the street the NCAA championship is being played as a matter of fact, and each team gets 16 tickets for the girls to go to the matches. One ticket for each match. NJ only has 4 teams it seems? Match Fit no? Looks like PDA and Wildcats dreams can come true. Since Cats were finalist I am sure they will be top bracket with PDA. Along with WC, Alberston and CFD? Cats can possibly play PDA in finals.....
255 Incorrect NO NCAA championship Finals games will be played at NC for any sport.
255 Also there is no Finals it's a showcase, welcome to recruitment years, it's not winning championships and GS points anymore pal.
Division I Soccer Championship (Dec 2nd -> 4th, same as CASL) is being moved out of Cary and out of North Carolina. So the top college coaches will be away anyway, right?http://www.ncaa.com/news/ncaa/article/2016-09-12/ncaa-relocate-championships-north-carolina-2016-17
Perhaps CASL should re-think the "exhibition" concept? I assume without the Greensboro, aka Division III championships and Division I coaches, we'll at least get cheap hotels!
I'm 309 and I wasn't being a jerk or A-hole I just hate people that post on here not knowing about the info they post. We are at U15 now not U11, U12 or U13 that most likely 255 is coming from. Yes CASL will be the place to be to kick off this age group with really good competition, unfortunately I lobbied my daughter's coach to go but he did not think it was worth it since half the team are still 8th graders. He'd rather chase a points tournament instead. We will definitely be looking for a new squad next year, where most of the girls are not a school year younger!
What makes you think you'd have been accepted?
acceptances are done, coaches have been emailed, and teams have been notified to book rooms and arrange transportation. Interesting to see PDA Storm in '02sThe national player is with Splash now, I guess, or did they move on once again?
I believe 2 others are with the 02s
1131 the national player is a 2001, PDA Sorm is the 2002 ECNL players.
Any inside scoop on teams accepted to Disney?
8:57 - Is your inquiry about which teams have been accepted, or about information on each of the teams that have been accepted? The acceptance list is available on GotSoccer.
Looking for Disney accepted teams
Disney U15G accepted teams available here:https://events.gotsport.com/events/teamlist.aspx?EventID=52947&Gender=Girls&AgeBracket=15Note that this is also a NL event.
Only Orange Crush in Orlando.
People there are many teams going to FL events in Dec., Disney is not the only event. Let me ask everyone's opinion how many college coaches will actually stay a full weekend into and past New Year's Eve vs. returning home to families. It's overbearing enough to watch that many games starting from 28th(NPL/ECNL events). So I do not see many staying around past Sunday for the other events. Can anyone with experience from older kids know how many coaches actually came to watch U15 at Disney? Disney Showcase(Orlando Fl.): Dec. 31 - Jan.3 - Accepted Teams ListedNPL Showcase(Palm Coast Fl.): Dec. 29-31 - Teams not listed yetUS Youth National League Showcase(Orlando): Dec. 31 - Jan.2 - Teams not listed yetECNL Showcase(Sanford, FL.): Dec. 28-30 - Teams not listed yet
A lot of coaches at ECNL showcase, a lot at Disney. The only coaches that will be at the NPL showcase will be the ones coaching their club teams.
NL teams are among the teams on the Disney accepted list.
Disney Showcase is much more about the experience and grandeur than it is about recruiting. Best wishes to all going as this could be your stepping stone....
so one NJ team TSF. lol
What's the aim of going to a showcase tourney so early in the season - especially when the teams are reshuffled in such a heavy way. I'm not sure when the U15+ teams start practice - but I cant believe that serious practices would start before November, and the teams will have 4-6 games before the showcase. How long does it take for a team to get to a "showcase" form in the season? especially since most of the teams will be brand new anyway. Even great teams like IGFA or Stallions (from last year's U15) have largely split up.
Disney early in the season? It's over the New Year holiday weekend in January, the effective midpoint of the current team roster period. By March, tryouts will have started and teams will be looking at reconstituting. There are plenty of U15 teams currently training and in action, including many of the better teams in Region I. Many of these teams will be at Disney, and many have experienced little change from their prior U13 rosters.
If you are talking about the U15s that are primarily made up of 8th grade girls that are practicing now (aka U13s last year that stayed together) - they will have a hard time once they start playing 9th graders. Compare the youthsoccerrankings.us for the typical U13 to U14 difference of last year's teams. Top 3 U13 teams with the rankings of, 32-33 will be in the top 20 versus those U14 teams. Even looking at composition of v good teams and some of the discussion (e.g. Match Fit) you can tell that there is a lot new talent. Change in 3-4 players can be significant.
We will crush them all, they will wither in the sun, no mickey mouse for you comrades.
1:50 That's a bunch of rubbish on rankings as well as Gotsoccer rankings, we are in a transitional year of change followed by another come spring to next fall with GDA. So as of right now there is no ranking you can follow it will be up to these upcoming showcases/tournaments end of fall and during the winter that will help gauge where teams fall. Also just because a team is made up of 8th graders doesn't necessarily mean they will struggle with 9th graders they are all born the same year 2002 for this blog. The BYC shifted age there are talents on both ends of the move.
The GS rankings only matter when you are #1, so to me, they matter dude : )
And that top GS team is mostly 2021s.
So this year we will see a stratification that will only become more pronounced next year with DA. The Ecnl draw is even stronger this year because pda, mf, wc all got DA. PDA will be an actual top team in the country, WC has the core of MF that made them so strong last year, MF will likely have a new crew of some very good soccer players as well. Dont be foolish to underestimate the ecnl/da draw. All these teams will have some special players. Also the times these teams play outside teams will become more and more limited going forward. They are only becoming more insulated. EDP has the second level teams but there are only 5-6 good teams across the three top divisions. They blew it not consolidating into a super group. Npl has a couple good teams and a bunch of pretty good teams. Truth be told a lot of teams with 4-6 good players. Very few with 12-13 outside ecnl. The 8th grade teams will struggle with athleticism.
What happened to sdfc 02 last weak. They got waxed 5-0. Was it closer than the scoreline or are better soccer teams just starting to emerge? If its the same coach and same kids thats a pretty bad beat. But they have slowly gotten weaker and weaker. Maybe coach just not teaching the kids anything useful anymore.
How could it be the same kids?Obviously some '02s came down from the U14 Samba team - and the older U13s complete the puzzle - minus any defectionsCould be some '03s were instrumental in the past success. Could also be the mix needs time to gel
Looks to be the same kids. Maybe they just havent really improved. Probably time for a real trainer.
SDFC is the factor of playing older more complete players v. the time U13. Jumping up an age group will be a telling story for many teams that stayed together and jumped over U14 year. It will take time for many of these teams to adjust again against the physical, stronger, and athletic players.
712I have older kids. Rest assured Disney showcase is clearly about recruiting. A ton of coaches and a ton of interest leading to offers came down from this to my kids' teams. You will find out about interest in the top players at u15 who are also Freshmen in high school in December probably after CASL and then Disney in January. The coaches will start tracking the 8th graders, but you may not know your kid is being tracked. 2 years after they first started tracking one of my kids, a top tier coach reached out to start communications. We started getting emails from coaches (of course transmitted through club coach in NCAA compliant manner) in the winter of her freshman year and its even earlier now. Disney presents a real opportunity to begin to gauge your kid's level (assuming she isn't a very late or very early bloomer) from the resulting interest it generates for her.
9:55 makes no sense. The team u lost to is also an ex u13. You wont see real u15 til late fall.
957 Understood but like someone posted a few days ago, which event will coaches attend? As most likely your daughter when she attend Disney years ago there was not as many conflicting events for coaches to recruit from?
The coaches will go to Sanford first and Disney immediately after. Both events will be well covered.Next year is unknown once the DA events are scheduled.
147 is correct look at last year's turnout for Coaches that attended Disney. Just count how many D1 schools were there. They may not or watch U15's yet but the fact they are there is good for anyone attending. http://events.gotsport.com/events/collegecoaches.aspx?EventID=45989
So U15 at disney. Saw all the colleges some great soccer schools and some great schools and some are both. Lets assume the number of schools you kid would want to play for on that list is 15. Those schools will not waste any time. They will have pre selected some games then maybe watch bits of some games. But dont you think u 16 will be a better place to spend time where everyone is in 9th or 10th grade. Ivies are probably only going 16/17. But assume you are in the top division of u15. Why are they coming to see your team? Do you have a national team player? An id2 player? Region odp player in 02? Or multiple? If not then why your team? Each school has 1-2 coaches attending. Do you really think they camp out and watch teams at one field or do a very targeted approach? Are you lucky enough to play an ecnl team with multiple aforementioned all star girls? For each family to spend min 1k each so 20k per team. Maybe you could.hire a real college consultant to get your kids up to par with the process. U16/u17 maybe. U15 not so much especially an 8th grade heavy team.
You are correct regarding mid majors. You are not correct regarding how top level power 5s recruit the top kids and when. The will show up to highly ranked u15s team's games to generally scout for players fitting their criteria: gk, tall CB, fast CB, fast winger. creative ACM, goal scorer etc. They will enter interesting kids, definitely including 8th graders, into their database of kids to watch. They will then show up to that team's games to watch the couple kids they identified potentially over more than a year before anyone even knows that a kid is being tracked. They will usually reach out to non YNT ninth graders to express beginning interest in January of ninth grade. Maybe an unofficial visit in the spring. Multiple visits by the end of summer into fall 10th gade and offers falling into laps during that same time period. Shift that timeline by a year for most mid majors. Half a year for most lower level power 5s. These are general statements. individual schools may be very different. Georgetown runs later than most top 25s (though they are a big east team and not a power 5). Clemson later than most top ACC. UNC, DUke and Penn State have their 4-5 YNT players locked in by the end of ninth grade generally. Virginia a little later closer to Clemson. etc.The second tier players (usually roster spot to 20%) are recruited at some power 5s about a year after the blue chippers and will be getting interest from mid majors at the same time. You will know where your kid stands if she is a blue chipper in January this year if she's a ninth grader and maybe a year or less later if she's in 8th. I don't think it's clear yet on how the colleges will react to u15 8th graders. Whether they will treat them pretty much as ninth graders and start sending their coaches emails or will they wait. If the former recruiting timelines may be earlier still. But rest assured there will be more coaches checking out TEAMS at U15 than there are at U17 where they will be watching PLAYERS.
425 U15 will be treated like U14's before the BYC. The landscape of recruitment has shifted as prior to BYC the age groups were more in line with school year cutoffs about 2 months for many states. Now teams are split down the middle for each age and schools will shift at the older teams prior to hitting U15. You have to remember there are freshman born 2001 playing at U16 now those will be targeted prior to a 2002 at U15. When DA arrives scouting will shift again especially with the higher end schools.
I disagree that they will be treated as u14. There will be more freshmen than 8th graders at this age and with the continuing trend of early recruiting, there will be a lot of attention paid to this age group both the 8th and 9th graders at the top events: ecnl showcases and national league.
One of my kids was being tracked as an eighth grader by top ACC and SEC school starting in eighth grade she was playing up at the time. Ultimately committed to one of them. They told us at visits how long they were watching her. This began several years ago.
3:49, sorry but I call BS on your post, cannot believe your 8th grader was being tracked by those schools, please don't waste our time.
You can call it what you want. Call the top 8 ACC schools and ask them when they start tracking kids. You can say I am full of it regarding mine (not ...but whatever... it isn't important regarding one kid the bigger issue is the point), but if you are trying to lobby against a top team's attendance at a top national event you will do a disservice to the top half of the team. Very easy to do. Or if you are a top club just ask the DOC.
100% true. I know personally some 8th graders who have allowable contact. Evaluations in 8th and 9th are common and offers in 10th or earlier.
Yes Evaluations in 8th and 9th are common for the top 1% or 2% all others take a back seat until end of Freshman or sophomore year. @3:49/7:51 glad you had that your oldest got that exposure early she probably fell in the top % of the group correct (YNT, ID2, ODP Regional player etc.) You will need to give the people on this blog a little more detail on what type of player she was to get the early looks not because they play on a top team in the region or ECNL team like most that look or post on this blog.
After three weeks of play, the separation within the EDP U15 1st Division is becoming apparent. As expected, Arsenal leads the North with Force and SDFC right behind, and all three clearly dominating the others. NJ Rush Grey leads the Central group, which as a whole is the most balanced group. North United, HMMS, and Pipeline are meeting expectations and dominating the South group. North United and Pipeline fought to a 1-1 draw this past weekend. The current standings look like this: North W-D-L GF/GA Pts1: ARSENAL MAXIMUS RED 3-0-0 12/0 92: FORCE FC FORCE 2-0-0 12/0 63: SDFC YELLOW 2-0-1 17/7 64: TSF ACADEMY 0-0-1 0/3 05: WAYNE SC GGG 0-0-2 1/17 06: LAGRANGE STRIKERS 0-0-3 1/16 0Central1: NEW JERSEY RUSH GREY 3-0-0 5/2 92: CHERRY HILL DESTROYERS 2-0-1 6/3 63: WARRINGTON NINJAS 1-1-0 4/2 44: TWIN COUNTY XTREME 1-1-2 3/4 45: MONTGOMERY UNITED 0-1-1 2/4 16: HAVERFORD ELITE 0-1-2 3/6 17: HFC READY 0-0-1 0/2 0N/A: SJEB RUSH 02 WHITE (no matches played)South1: NORTH UNITED RUSH 3-1-0 20/4 102: HMMS IMPACT 3-0-0 14/1 93: PIPELINE BLACK 2-1-0 10/1 74: ARUNDEL PUMAS 2-0-1 4/3 65: SUPERNOVA BLACK 1-1-1 5/5 46: PHWM RED 1-0-2 2/17 37: BALT BAYS LIGHTNING 0-1-2 3/6 18: CESC CALVERT-ELITE 0-1-2 2/10 19: SAC PREMIER BLUE 0-1-2 3/11 110: HYS THUNDER BLACK 0-0-2 1/6 0
I posted about one of my children's experience because I think the top u15 teams should be traveling to national level events. For sure most of their 9th graders and even their 8th graders will benefit from the exposure. Again we did not know at the time that our 8th grader was being tracked by several well recognizable "name" schools. When I look back on the lists the parents kept (yes I saved them on my hard drive and now I am reluctant to delete the memories- corny I know) several were at many games and we had no idea at the time that they were watching our kid among many others. It also bears mentioning that she sent no emails to coaches at that time believing it was "too early". She was an above average player on her team, started, but she was playing up a year at the time she first started being tracked. She has a fall birthday and that team would largely be her age group now. She did get 1 invite to id2, was in the ODP regional pool, but did not get invited to national ODP camp at u13, and was not invited to a u14/15 national camp. She was a solid player, but no one would call her a "star". She has developed well since then and some of the colleges that were tracking her increased their interest over time. However conversely, some fell off on their interest as they found players they liked better. I have a a good deal of experience now from my boys (way different) and girls and much written on these blogs is just wrong. Please find someone who has been through the process with a kid at a similar level as yours- if you can guess that- to use a resource especially if your child's coach/DOC is inexperienced or closed regarding the process. One last tidbit: the coaches don't always remember to forward emails or remember to tell you a coach texted them or called them about your child...
12:47. Edp totally blew it. They had a chance to put a great group together with 8 really solid teams. Instead they have teams losing by 10 in league play. This isnt ayso or town. Terrible terrible product this fall.
Agreed, that is the problem with having teams not be accountable from u12-u17, you have these one-off champions and pretty much all the rest. NJ Rush Grey (super-team) has no where else to play, besides the USYS mafia, and their lackies...
I see Rush Grey but who is SJEB Rush White? Isn't there a SJEB Rush Blue and SJEB Rush Premier team as well? Are they not playing EDP?
If you want to add parity, fine the team that loses by 7 or more goals more than once. Problem solved. Generally, I would say EDP has the best structure for team promotion/demotion. It's hard with age group change. If you look at ECNL/NPL leagues you always get teams that get the 0-6 scores on a consistent basis.
I think it was pretty obvious this year. The only surprise was sdfc 5-0 loss to arsenal. U thought sdfc would be better. Force was not good in u14 last year North is super weak. Force tied a much weaker tsf. Rush grey and cherry hill obvious. North united, hmms, pipeline obvious. Could have given tsf and pwhm a pass because they were decent last year. How does wayne soccer a town team get in? Given up 17 goals in 2 games. How is that good for anyone?
GGG merged with Wayne which merged with Stallions. They actually have 2 good younger teams that are coached by the DOC.I'm assuming someone looked at Stallions brand and gave them a pass based on the pedigree of their DOC. Unfortunately their older teams fell apart due to age group change, and many kids left to play elsewhere. I just saw they were still looking to have "late tryouts" for older age groups.
The SJEB/RUSH U15 group is actually three teams. Essentially and A,B, and C team. The are located in Southern NJ. I believe the teams are composed of girls from both clubs. Not much is known. Does not look like any of the teams have played.
Stallions and Wayne? With these two freaks running the show, nothing good will come from it. This will help clubs like crush and sdfc, to watered down in north jersey anyway.
SJEB RUSH 02 GIRLS ACADEMY WHITE is a new team. No history and no roster publicly available. It is a different team from SJEB RUSH 02 GIRLS ACADEMY BLUE (fka Rush Blue, Rage Renegades).
Pretty much every team is new or at least 50% of most rosters correct.
