Based on the games I have seen, NPL struggles with show this year. ECNL as much as I dont like to say. Is one best teams in NJ.

What happened to CRUSH and TSF?Good Luck World Class in Final even though your awful and your style is awful.
Why don't the 2 MF teams play and lets see who is the better team instead of all the talk.
Its about style and direction DOC is looking for. One team that has it while other does not. Coach did not even coach his U13 NPL team. that says volumes
MF NPL team seemed to be placed in correct flight. What happened this weekend?
How come the MF ECNL team didn't play in Stars? They could have played age appropriate and seen how they match up against some of the other top teams.
2:54 because they will play FC Stars/Breakers twice during the season home/away. Why show them what you have before the season.2:16 Club always before team. I'm sure they will scrimmage a few times this year.
EAST MEADOW HOTSHOTZ (NYE) 2 BOSTON BREAKERS ACADEMY ECNL (MA) 0NYE with a World Class & Albertson wins can come home with the three titles top 3 flights.Mercer can give NJ a title and Alleycats can give NYE a possible 4 title at FC Stars.
Top ranked fc stars team was in same pool as MF NPL. Other pool had two very strong teams but more weaker teams(NYSC and Crush as example). When games are by a goal, it is good soccer. 4 goal margin games show when pools/flights are lopsided. Good all around talent for a tourney.
Looks like East Meadow is top team in NY,NJ,PA areaLooks like NYE making serious push with some top teams this year
Like to see these 3teams play this year to determine top team in metro area.Matchfit ECNLEast meadowPDA
Who then coached the MF NPL team if not the MF coach/DOC?
East meadow, MF NE NPL and penn fusion already played friendly few weeks ago. All these type of academy teams will be doing that this year. That is how they will all get better. Playing each other more.....
what about PDA?
What about the Matchfit ECNL team?
What about themIf they played this weekend in STARS guess we would know, but they didn't so for now after the first rounds of tournaments East Meadow is the team I would say especially on how they won all their games World Class next Just going by the latest tournaments before all the teams league seasons start.Next round of tourney's will be Columbus weekend so we will see who plays who at that time
PDA Storm is the better PDA team. PDA Ajax is average. Until they can win top notch tournaments they will be average. Just because they have PDA in the name does not make them the best team. Players paying all that money for the name only
Seems a lot of people paying for name especially if it is Matchfit how many teams and town clubs can you haveFew years ago it actually meant something to say you play for MF Now it's like WHICH ONE and where are you located
Actually 6:22.It will be settled in pre ecnl.East meadow will have there hands full. especially with PDA's pedigreeit was a great tournament for NY.Go NY!
I think PDA dragons are the best of the three.
YesI am sure you are right. No need for them to clamor anymore to be on the ECNL team. The PDA dragons and Matchfit/ NJX will live happily ever after.
Lol..WC is awful? They play a great game. Fast, skill, possession, strength.
They are in the second bracket for a reason.News flash, any time ECNL put their own kind in second bracket while PDA Ajax(second team) is in first bracket. It should clue you in on what the elite group thinks of the team.
WHO CARES they won, MF NPL did not. PERIOD
What is with this blog? You rip Ajax for not winning in the top bracket, you rip WC for winning in the second bracket, and rip NJX for being in the second bracket and not winning. It was a high level tournament with very good teams competing. There were a couple teams that struggled this tournament but hopefully they will rebound. The folks making the comments weren't there to see any of the games and have nothing intelligent to add. A lot of good soccer played.
heh4:04Tha best FC STARS team (Stars - ECNL) was in the BLUE division with Crush, E Meadow and NEFC.The team had been FC Stars United and now has players ffom 3 states after a heavily attended tryout. The points matter little. The North team is good as well, yes. Just not the elite within that club at this time.
Great job today by East Meadwo,,,,,,Breakers almost lost a second straight time to S Shore (down 2-0 I believe before pulling it out 3-2 on a pk)Then they lose today to the roughnecks from E Meadow, who are poised to run roughshod over this division this season (very underrated defensive club since their offensive punch is so heralded)
I think east meadow had some issue in their own state with World taking EDP division. um, that was two months ago. I think they'll find Matchfit and PDA will give them all they can handle in coming months .Both Matchfit and PDA have new players ,that will improve the teams considerably for next season.Good luck with the "roughshod" and handling some of those new players.
No one is "ripping" anyone - Just giving credit to the champions East Meadow, World Class and Albertson a NY state of mind in the top 3 flights. In addition to these teams I also gave credit to the teams that placed. Never said anything bad about the event or the quality of teams. Not everyone can win and as much as this blog like to talk up PDA Ajax, NYSC, NJ Crush and MF NPL none of them placed.I wasn't there and am only going by the results and the GS impact - nothing more - This has nothing to do with the quality of the games but everything to do with reality. The top 4 teams in each flight will get GS points that will move them up the rankings as others lose their GS points with none to take their place. Most poster quote the GS rankings - Boston Breakers a great team that also played in a ton of GS events to accumulate all their points. I think NJ goes 1,2 and 3 in NE NPL. Too much talent for other states B teams. I think they could beat most ECNL teams.
Many problems at Mf. Starting with, who is the coach or trainer. Many promises made to get this team over and committed to Mf. None of the promises have come to fruition as of yet.Power struggle going on between Mf and old coach. Parents are not happy with all the promises and lies and little suzie not playing the position they think she should. Parents are complaining to old coach who used to do whatever the squeaky wheels would want. Problem is Mf is in charge, not the old coach.Style of play is way to direct always forward no matter what. Ño possession. Mf plays 5 or 6 girls the entire game who try their best but can not play an entire game. Perfect example is Mf goals they let up are always in the last 5 minutes of the game. Mf better straighten things out fast or its gonna be a long season and your gonna be minus a team. Its apparent they are grooming a select few for the ecnl team and keeping stringing the rest along with promises which quickly turn to bold lies.
Pretty sure they (NJX/MFNPL) will be fineEvery team has its logistical issues. And a time when it needs to change its tactical play.Nice squad. And a decent start to the fall campaign.
Both sides are in on it. Old coach protecting her personal interests. MF not attached to this team beyond the paycheck. Bank on this to continue as the Holmdel area kids not likely to travel to Jefferson team's training and same goes for Jefferson team.So the old coach will continue along having parents just where she wants with few options and likely to stay put. MF happy to keep the check.Ain't youth sports just grand!!Expect a few players to leave at year's end if not sooner.
They are leaving sooner. Thats for sure. You get what you give. Mf not committed to team and team is not committed to getting better. Perfect match. DOC stated he was going to be the trainer and is listed as the trainer on GS. Hasnt been seen or heard from.
Playing catch up here, as the blog was full the week after Spirit, and then I was away on a short vacation.I'll try to reply to PA relevant posts below."Penn Legacy is much better than Penn Fusion. Watch the game and they completely dominated them. Wildcats looked good against Calvert and Penn but then looked slow and outplayed against Ajax. Looked like two different teams. Must be the coaching. August 30, 2014 at 11:52 AM"Agreed, with the caveat that the first half was played pretty evenly and ended 1-1. I don't know what the PL coach told his players at halftime, or what adjustments they made, but they destroyed PF in the second half. Four goals scored in one half is a lot at this level. GS rankings and ECNL membership aside, you have to pass the "Best in PA" label to PL after that performance. The other PA teams at Spirit (1776 and Ukrainians) did not provide any evidence that they are ready to play at this level (both lost twice and then tied each other in a consolation game). I saw the 1776 vs. Greater Binghamton game and I'd give a slight edge to GB. Although it may have been one of those situations where a bigger team playing direct soccer (GB) was booting the ball deep over and over again.-PA Guy
"PA guy, if Penn Legacy and PA Classics merged their girls program would they be better than PennFusion, FC Continental & FC Bucks across all ages. I know they have a D2 Semi-Pro team in WPSL, can ECNL or NPL be in the future?August 30, 2014 at 12:08 PM"After beating PF 5-1, it's kind of hard to argue that Legacy is not already the best team in PA.Legacy would not gain much from a merger with Classics. Many of the players on Classics are either former Legacy players who left when playing time was reduced. There are not too many players on Classics that would make the Legacy team. The best thing to happen in PA would be to dissolve Con FC and move it west to the Lancaster area. This would put an ECNL team near Lancaster, leave Penn Fusion to recruit in Delco/Chesco, and leave FC Bucks north of Philly. As it stands now, Penn Fusion and Con FC are too close to each other. My current PA tiers:1PLPF (top tier, but currently behind PL)2Ukrainians1776FC Revolution3, 4, 5Take your pick of LVU, Hulmeville, HMMS, YMS, etc.6ClassicsCon FCFC Bucks-PA Guy
8:18We were told (maybe by you) that NJX players were leaving THIS year.Give it up already.

Only chance for a PA team to win will be Penn Fusion. They've played WC pretty evenly in two friendlies (a one-goal win and a one-goal loss) and then tied them 0-0 at Delco. This will be PF's first time playing against PDA Storm.Couldn't find the post, but someone else mentioned that the PA teams will struggle in the NPL league. I agree. PF ECNL has managed to beat both Ajax and NJX 2-0, but the PF NPL team will get destroyed by these two teams. I don't even want to think about how the FC Bucks and Con FC NPL teams will fare as even their ECNL teams would not be able to hang with Ajax or NJX.-PA Guy
This isn't 818, but he or she hit the nail on the head. If you have one girl playing on 3 teams in 2 age groups, what does that say for your program. What does that say to the kids who did not make the roster on those three teams. It says thank you for your deposit and come again. Girls will be practicing in raritan and playing for jefferson and the ecnl team. Its happening now. Another example of Match Fleeced
Just be happy we are not part of CRUSH NJ, maybe no drama, but not a single winning team in the club.
11:45.ECNL is a very competitive structure. There is no fairness associated with any high level team in any sport. Each child will be treated differently depending on how important the organization deems your child to be their success. Loyalty just because you played with the organization is non existent. It seems that your expectations are too high. You need to see high level teams for what they are-not as you wish them to be.It is the organization's responsibility to keep your team together while choosing the few girls they need to strengthen their ECNL team. In order to do that the organization has to be very careful what they communicate to parents;otherwise, there would be a mass exodus. This would be delicate for any Elite organization:Proper communication starts with the following:1)Give the parents hope and communicate the possibility of their child making the ECNL team by Creating a visual scenario that is very positive for the most players-This is called the carrot.2) Demonstrate importance of players on 2nd team by promising that only the highest level coaches will train this group.Club may not be able to live up to this because every team wants the highest level coach and the coach that has been promised may not have time .Once parents start to question commitment make future promises that the parents can hang unto- to that you create a paralysis culture (parents don't know what to do because they don't want to leave too early if indeed some of these things promised may come true in the future.3)Llimit opportunities by limiting options for the players. (this can be done by keeping players in their place until most ECNLl teams are filled and coaches only need a position or two to fill their roster. Then you take the few players that you need for ECNL while convincing the rest of the team that this NPL situation is better than that NPL situation. After all, here the players will be with her friends, over their, she'll be starting from the beginning. Here she has a chance to make ECNL team next year. Over their, she won't have a chance. The biggest currency parents have at this point is time. Elite level clubs try to spend that currency by holding out "carrots" to keeping players as long as possible until opportunities become limited. This is the way it has alway been done.A matrix of sorts that only a few of the more intuitive parents see through from the start.I have no problem with this, as my expectations about any elite sports organization is for them to protect the organization at all costs.
12:57 I agree the elite club will protect the club first and as a result of this Players will benefit. Not all players, but the players that work hard will benefit first team or not. If they have that "carrot" in front of them regardless if they get it or not they will work hard to try and get it making them the best player they can be. Sometimes that's not good enough.Nothing wrong with that in my opinion.
The difference between many of these top clubs is depth. Some are balanced. Others like MF NE NPL are not. The top of this team is the reason they compete at this level right now. That cannot sustain much longer....... Combining top of north pre ECNL and old NJX teams will make for one very deep team. Patience people, patience.......
Wow, well said. You summed it all up very nicely. Sounds like you were a part of one of thes3 organizations or had to deal with them. Mf is all smoke and mirrors or the carrot as you say. Big question is, if you pull your kid, where do you go?????
1:19You are off topic. No doubt there is some residual value for some that stay, but only if that player is given the Proper Coach.Point made is that sports organizations communicate in such a way to protect their organization and for those parents that have intentions of bigger things for their child, they must not rely on the "kindness of strangers"
Why would any parent compare their child to another? All you can do is ask your kid to give it their best. Your kid is who she is and you as a parent get to pick where she plays as long as it's a two way street between club and player. There will always be players certain coaches like, doesn't mean they are the best but they are the best for that coach. Nothing wrong with that.
Problem is the ones who think they are the top are very far from it. So patience for what??? There may be 3 players deserving of a ecnl opportunity.
1:19 here - 1:26 I agree always read in between the lines. Sometimes we won't like what we see, but sometimes it's not a bad thing either (depends on the organization).
1;27.Parents should choose where they want their kids to play but not based on future promises.
Where do you go if not going to be part of ECNL team is a good question?Guess things that factor in are: Level of team How daughter meshes with girls on team after attending sessions Coach Facilities Distance Cost

Give Match Fit(NJX) North East NPL time to figure it out. New coach (or coaches maybe) and new system. As for the lies. Yep, there will be a lot of those along the way. And smoke and mirrors too. The MF DOC doesn't even know what the truth is as he makes it up as he goes along. Lots of the same promises being made between Raritan and Jefferson... Eventually everyone will know how it shakes out.I think it will be interesting to watch the MF NE NPL team and how they come out at the end of the meat grinder that they are in. Hopefully most will be happy with the direction that they have gone in. But don't think that the best player who works hard will always prevail. Players that are as good as the perceived top players will get spit out of the system for a variety of reasons including style of play or style clash with coach or what have you.
MF played good this weekend considering most players were playing different positions.
Match fleece is a joke as a club. Maybe has one or two good age groups. Just a PDA wannabe club. Good luck just sew your pockets closed.
1;22: 1:19 hereIt certainly is a tough decision, it may be true that your daughter is in the right place, even if that means the current NPL team.If you think she has a shot at a higher level team then you have to ask yourself ;where will she be in the pecking order on a roster of 25.If she is 1-6 then she is in right place as long as she meshes with coach.7-11 will have more pressure in holding on to their starting spots but still an excellent situation.12-16 is tough call because they will get plenty of playing time but may not be starters and will have to take a step back and check their ego's.As the player matures, these players may switch with 7-11.Also 15-18 will have to be handle being asked to stay home for certain games to give other players the chance to play. They may be in a rotation of on and off games.Ecnl excellent for players 1-6Ecnl very good for players 7-12ECNL good for players 13-15Ecnl becomes less appealing for players 16-18and in my opinion not a good situation for players 19-25.If 19-25 can play significant playing time on a High level second team(NPL) then you run to that team because these girls will get significant exposure on the right team and some of these second level teams will beat other ECNL teams. Here again coach is the major consideration for your choice.-and quality of play
1:22. I meant to say 12:57 here.
3:45 - you are so right about the coach being the most important factor. Of course we all want a coach who knows what they are doing and has strong training. And that is hard enough especially when we also nee to avoid coaches who either (1) don't appreciate what my daughter brings to the table, (2) doesn't have the right coaching style to motivate her or her teammates or (3) forgets that she is only 12 years old and bullies her and her teammates. And yes, I have one of those. Can you give me some insight into which clubs in this age group have qualified coaches who are not overgrown children themselves? I was thinking that was at MFA and PDA. Is that wrong? Supposedly, there is some quality control there.
So leave team if being bullied, why put up with if your daughter feels that way.If it's you that feels that way then need to talk with daughter and see if she feels same. Then would go through the process of going to 2/3 other clubs and see which daughter feels most comfortable. Don't just assume MF and PDA are right for her. Explore your options
4:18 3:45 here.Where are you located. just give approximate and how far are you willing to drive?
DOC's at both MF and PDA promised they would coach/train storm and celtic to keep those teams from losing players due to unhappiness or uncertainty with coaches at end of spring/tryout season.Only very foolish ever believed those promises.
Promises will be made regardless of where you go. Same thing happens at PDA. All about where you kid fits in and if THEY are happy. We use the academies as much as they use us. I had an older daughter who I am not paying college for...... Not saying same thing will happen for this one but will USE their connections and the exposure all day every day..... Again, you need to know your kid and if this is what they want to do.
Latest GS update has NJX falling outside the top 10 to #13. And can anyone confirm if Rage is or isn't a team anymore? If some for of them still exists, where are they playing? And if they don't, can we essentially ignore them in the rankings until they officially drop off?
...some *form* of them...
5:19Who cares about GS points? GS is only good for researching the history of a team.
The spring teams are rising to the top of GS points. All three PDA teams and STA have made the biggest moves. All 4 of these teams improved their talent this Fall.
First off if you are using GS to rank a team you are not on a top team. Show me how the Spring teams made a move??? All this is are points falling. The top 5 will now will still lose more. Just about when it will happen. Example, Storm loses 8,000 on 9/21. At this level you need to rank based on head to head. So many playing stronger talent than others. Very though for GS to give you a clear picture.....more important for your daughter to be enjoying herself on the team that challenges her the most based on her skill set.
All teams will lose points in the fall. The ones with Spring points and those who earn points this fall will be on top. Teams like Rage, Crush and others lost talent In the Spring and did not accumulate many points. The others that I mentioned did. Of course, if you want to stay on top or get back on top you need points this fall.
You are correct 635, some teams are going to take big steps backward come December. It started with Spirit as I predicted. Too many high quality players gravitated toward the PDA & Matchfits of the world & this is really going to continue. Teams who lost players will end up losing games, being less competitive & their top shelf players will end up moving on. Has become a frequent occurrence come u13 - u14 age group in NJ.
When a team promotes, advertises or represents that a certain person will coach and/or train the team and that person is materially absent, then minimally a con has been committed if not outright consumer fraud. DoC might stand for "Depositor of Checks".
I'm gonna take a wild guess & say that 7:22 is the 50 mile NCAA rule guy from the summer. Am I right? You're too funny by the way.
4:18 - I'm with 4:29 leave if you haven't already. While a good coach is great a Bad coach for that kid can take the passion right out of a kid.The only thing about PDA and MF while great clubs they are looking out for number 1 - win titles to keep the Brand special to keep kids coming. If your kid can play and you don't mind being on the NPL team these are good places to be in my opinion. You have a "carrot" in ECNL. Doesn't mean your kid will ever get it but you have something to motivate them if they are not at that level yet. But if they are at that level they will compete every day for their minutes which will make them an even stronger player. If your kid doesn't want soccer beyond college then other options do exist that will get them into a good school. Which one is for you and your kid - go to their games and watch how the coach is with the team attend training sessions who cares if the coach finds out what further damage can they do? Your kid is number 1 and if they are in an environment that stinks get out. They will find a replacement without thinking twice about your kid just as you can find a replacement and shouldn't feel bad about it.
Re: the "con" committed and the absentee coachesAre you really that locked into a trainer rather than a program? Can your daughter really NOT take to instruction from many different sources?
NO 8:22 I know 7:22 is not the 50 mile guy.Maybe that means that at least 2 parents are now awake and have opened their eyes a wee bit to the lack of integrity of those two.Bad news for those 2 DOC's if more parents catch on.
If the instruction is the same from all the coaches and trainers, than why did MF have to "sell" the DOC as the new coach and trainer to keep the Celtic players and parents on board. Why not just tell the truth and let everyone make an informed decision based on the real "new" coach and trainer? As has been obvious all along MF and their DOC's goal was to keep both teams full and parents paying dues as long as possible by any means necessary, damn the truth and the kids.
Celtic players were never going anywhere. Of course with a new club sometimes comes a new coach. Other teams have dont it - the full team move - but kept their coach.Could NJX have said NO to the MF deal and just kept Celtic in their club? I dont know. Maybe you can tell me. What WERE the options put forth? And what were the perceived benefits of being with MF?
Further...Can they go back to being NJX?
Always going to be people not happy with new coaching..... Training is much better than before and they will play strong talent all year. Everyone needs to worry about their own club. As said in past, you would have been a fool not to go to MF if you were with NJX. No matter who wants to bash, the academies all have the strongest connections. Before people come back, I know others do, but not like the academies.... Just the truth. Not going to be for everyone though. The kids and parents who can't hang, and there are some, will fall out of program next season.
10:36when your daughter goes to her school. Are there teachers in the school that you prefer over other teachers for your child. You assume that these clubs have some club wide mandate on how to teach the game and every coach is of the same quality.when in-fact club wide philosophies that are marketed to parents are from what goes on in realty. Each coach-especially the senior coach's with significant pedigree make a huge difference in the development of your child. The club structure helps with quality control but does not ensure that your child is getting the best teacher.Easy example is that here in the US, a club like PDA and Matchfit will put some of their younger least experienced coaches with the children of younger age groups. This is the most important time in development of a child's skills but these kids will be taught by some of the least experienced coaches in the club.So yes, who coaches(teachers ) your child matters even at a "quality controlled organization"
Just to add, not every coach is right for every child. I am not talking about tactical aspects of the game, but communication, motivation, etc.
LOL "fall out of the program" is that what they call it at MF
11:06 said "Training is much better than before and they will play strong talent all year."Do you consider the B teams of these ECNL teams strong talent? The strongest 2 teams you will likely play are both from NJ. Many of the teams you will travel to play against are extremely weak. Not buying that.
You were obviously not up in Mass. Plenty of NE NPL talent. Also practicing and playing against ECNL teams within the program and plenty of friendlies against other pre ECNL clubs. It is all good. Please show me where you are playing better talent. Again, you don't always need to hate what you are not a part of.....
Not a hater, just being objective. I think the ECNL is very deep. Tell me where the high level NPL teams are in this region. Not from PA and not from NY. Are they in CT & MA?
Yes. CT and MA. But you are missing the numerous friendlies and training aspect to all of this which is the MOST important. I will take banging against older teams within a program over a regular game all day every day....
Hope your not talking about going against the U14 team. They seem to be a team on lower end in club
I am not familiar with the NPL teams from CT and MA so OK we'll see. But even if they are high level, that makes the league very average at best with half being below.
Again, what other teams are out there that are going to be any better???
1st division EDP is strong
Breakers and FC Stars teams are likely quite good. I see Breakers lost 1-0 to Albertson A team in Stars CupInteresting that NE NPL is designating these teams as U13 pre-ECNL........
12:15 it's 2 flights.Pre-ECNL Flight plus NE NPL flight
The 5-6 area ECNL teams, NJ Wildcats, Binghamton, Penn Legacy, etc.
Sorry 12:28 was in response to 11:56
Assuming GS can identify the Pre-ECNL and NPL teams like we do.The Flight ValueNE Pre-ECNL = 10,000EDP Central = 9,500NE NPL = 7,500Those are a bunch of GS points going to these teams as I said assuming GS can identify the Pre-ECNL and NPL teams. Now that GS includes all the top Regional leagues.NE pre-ECNLNE NPLR1 PremierR1 ColonialEDPNYSCL NPLNYSCL PLNEP The best teams that travel in the region will get those import league pts in addition to their Events. For those that stay at home in JAGS and PAGS well you'll be a few steps behind when it comes to being flighted down the road
12;31ecnl teams like PDA do not need GS points. They will always be slotted in top bracket of every tournament. You will note that the ecnl teams at PDA wil have a very low ranking on GS.in the future. To me this is why you join a top notch ecnl organization.
GotSoccer is also going to include JAGS this year and allocate points. Might be Thanksgiving before they get it working, but that's the word.
OI never said they need them - But they will be getting them. Since you brought up PDA - if they have the best record in the Fall they will get 10,000 GS points less their 20%.If they also have the best record in the Spring they will get another 10,000 points less their 20%.If they win theirPDA tournament they will get another 10000 points less their 20% If they win Nj Cup they get another 10000 points less their 20%.So even though they don't need them or care for them, they will accumulate them and they will be ranked accordingly by GS.I would still like GS to do moreof an average when it comes to rankings instead of straight up accumulation. My point is hate it or love it GS is part of the Youth Soccer landscape regardless if you need it or not.
EDP as strong as pre ECNL and NE NPL? Please let me know what teams you are looking at??Problem with GS is the pre ECNL and NE NPL will play more top teams than others. Like EDP. EDP will get you two good games and then it falls off the map. So you only need to win two top games and you are cruising to the points. Just not the same depth of talent.
The top 4-6 kids will card with both pre ECNL and NE NPL teams for their club. They will float back and forth for league games. Makes both teams tough for regular league play.
That will sit well with everyone on both teams NOTThe MF mess only the beginning
It will certainly cause some frustration and chaos. Are you saying the top from NPL will play both and the bottom of ECNL will play both? Because if the top from NPL are rostered for ECNL, then someone from ECNL is out. Do they go to NPL?
3:15 Dude!! Relax - I'm not saying it's as strong as Pre-ECNL. When you have to play EM, WC, MF, PDA, Boston, FC Stars, FSA, CFC twice it doesn't get any better. Even FC Bucks, Continental FC and Albertson will get better.EDP has some strong competition as well, I think NE NPL is still stronger but it's not bad comp. Don't be closed minded, there is a level for everyone and some of those teams have some big wins against the Pre-ECNL teams.
MF will only bring an NPL player up when ECNL rooster is short. However, when their ECNL players need more playing time or NPL team needs wins, then MF will bring ECNL player(s) down.
4:59 that will make the NE NPL even better if more clubs do that.
ALL academies have the "floaters". That is why people from the outside do not realize how deep the talent will be in both pre ECNL and NE NPL....
PDA does not have floaters.
How would pr-ecnl or ECNL team be "short"-they carry more than enough extra bodies/$ without bringing up an NPL player. And if my kid is on NPL and u bring down an ECNL kid for playing time that wouldn't float either. Why should that kid get playing time the NPL kid earned and parents paid for?
There are no floaters at PDA.
Again: this is something that they academies sell to parents but in practice, it is very rarely done.An occasional player will play for a couple different teams but its more the eception rather than the rule. But these ecnl teams will market this to their parents for that carrot of hope.
There are no ECNL players playing on NPL teams. Except maybe a goalie if a goalie is hurt.
PDA have no floaters??Are you kidding me, PDA is known for bringing down ECNL players down to State cup teams, Region 1 teams, and NPL teams. They did this heavy last year, which prompted NPL to changes rules this year
are you forgetting the PDA Stragens, aren't they a combination of the dragons and storm.no problem we'll play whoever you put on the field.
No, no, no......You wont see Match Fit Black players suiting up in NPL for Match Fit a/k/a CelticJust wont
Sorry folks. MF Black is too slow for NJX. Take the players off the field who shouldn't be playing and hands down, NJX is better. Too many gifts being handed out. Regardless of style, NJX would win. Too big, Too fast.
Set up the match for the MF Cup!
DOC and others are afraid to see what will happen. All the haters would realize that they are flat out wrong about their teams.
Gonna be a fun year! The You say, I say is at an all time high! And its all speculation, which makes it all the more fun!First couple of tune up tourneys are done, wins and losses being posted. No one stealing the drivers seat yet, but it wont be long!It amazes me how strong this age group is. Not the U13 age, but the talent in this pool of girls that this year are U13. Usually after U11 the amount of teams starts to diminish, but this group continues to stay strong. Multiple teams in all clubs. MF has 4 teams in this age group, amazing if you ask me!No one is quite sure why this group continues to stay so large and so strong, but there is a bigger picture here as well. This age group, since U9 to today, is one of the largest group of girl players in the Nation. There is certainly something special about this group, and mark my word, there are going to be a couple of special players coming from this 2001 group.Could this be your kid, absolutely! but only time will tell! The greatest players, at least on the girl's side, do not show their stripes or separate from the pack until the age of 15-17. It's an exciting time! Now for the sad/scary part of this post. U13 is the #1 age of the ACL injury / sports death for Youth girls. Why you ask, because most girls have reached their puberty, going through their puberty or are on their largest growing spurt. I am not sure if many parents knew this but there are many classes offered that teach your coach training in how to strengthen the muscles around the ACL that have been proven to reduce this possible injury. As a parent, you should take the time to talk with you coach. All it takes is 1 wrong step!Have a great, healthy and successful season!
9:04 If this happens what is wrong with this? PDA/MF are clubs and their number 1 goal is the club and it's success. I hate saying it, but club before team(s) always. Your kid should be feeling that as well as should we or we are in the wrong place, it should be every kid's goal to be the MVP for their Club. Look I think any parent that goes to these types of teams know very well that it could be a one and done for their daughter. I would expect the club to put a very competitive team on the field every time. If the players develop and the team develops but there are a few that develop at a slower pace, why wouldn't the club replace them with other players that can play at the same speed as the entire team. Why should the team suffer in it's development if some kids are not developing at the same speed? I know that sounds horrible and it could be my own daughter that sits, but that is what you pay for, isn't it? You pay for your kid to be on a super competitive team developing at a rapid pace and if she is holding the team back or another kid is holding the team back - we all know what comes with the territory with these types of teams. Sometimes it's just a tough pill to swallow if it's your kid? But need to be supportive regardless if this was the path we took and not Hate if something changes.
8:34 here - thank you 8:22
A girl on one of younger teams torn her ACL up at Stars of Mass torn, surgery yesterday, horrible. She is 11 years old, it makes me quezzy just thinking about it, but as said previously, we all live with the fact that this entire experience can be over in 1 second, its not easy to accept, and part of me still doesn’t.Good luck to all.
You may be a little melodramatic. While the injury is terrible and it's unfortunate that she'll miss some time, it's not "all over" for an 11 year old with a torn ACL.
ACL recovery with proper surgery and rehabilitation is nearly 95%.Lot of hard work and changes the mental toughness, for the better, of the player once she is back on the field. There are numerous players in college and on National teams at different levels that have torn the ACL more than once.Unfortunately , these tears are a fact of life. Most are torn without contact, some are torn because of contact.Friend's daughter going through this right now.helluva player.Pretty well known in Elite soccer circles. All I'll say out of respect for their privacy.Wish them well and speedy recovery for her.
Female athletes are 8 times more likely than boys of the same age to tear their ACL. Once an athlete has had 1 torn ACL the odds of another ACL tear to the same knee are MORE than 8x greater for female athletes than males. While there are exceptions in most cases after the 2nd ACL tear and reconstruction there are very few female athletes who can return to play at the D1 Level successfully. One reason is with females smaller bones there is often not enough bone density in the lower leg bones to graft(each graft includes a screw into the lower and upper leg bones) onto for a 2nd and 3rd ACL reconstruction to the same knee so the graft is less stable each time. What you should be looking for is trainers who are focusing time each session on the exercises that are recommended for strengthening the muscles in the leg and the connecting tissue and tendons that protect the knee to lessen the chances of this injury. As you mention there is a lot of research out there and programs in place such as plyometrics, agility ladder and other training methods that involve explosive jumping, landing, bounding, etc. that not only strength the legs but teach proper athletic posture and landing posture for girls. These exercises and programs have proven to lesson the possibility of ACL tears.
Quezzy? STFU 1. That isn't a word, 2. There are kids with cancer.
12:45, congrats, you have illustrated a perfect example of off-topic moronic after thought.Read the thread, who is talking about cancer, was discussing knee injuries.Thank you Mrs.Grammar, dolt.
I'm totally with 1245, great post & point well made.
2:21 you have to understand what you are dealing with 12:45pm and his like.Any post over 2 sentences in length he loses concentration and has little comprehension of what he just read.
come on with PDA, their Shore team lost this weekend to town teams, they should have won their own tournament at mickey mouse TRFC no?
Just a matter of time.
PDA Ajax did not place in top 3 either. How long do we have to wait to see these teams do well? I guess they have to get better players, what they have now is not cutting it. The PDA name is going down the drain huh? Stop paying that amount of money for little results.
6:09 the only other team that would had have a better result is PDA storm, which by your club bashing, your daughter is not on. Worry about your daughters team and I'm pretty sure Ajax would beat your daughters team!
You mean Ajax that is number 2 in NJ Got Soccer and ranked number 6 in the nation? Yeah they stink.
You mean the Ajax that just beat, & pretty handidly I might add, the Kitties 3-1 at Spirit?
6:09. Love to hear what you think are better teams and organizations than PDA in NJ. Everyone at this level is paying significant money to play for their team. PDA puts a consistent product on the field. Just a matter of time when the Shore team gets there. PDA attracts top coaches and talented players.
How many players left PDA last Spring vs. how many came? Tryouts were packed, how many came to tryouts for some of these other so called top level teams.
PDA shore look good this weekend. Won 2 out of 3 gameswith starting goalie out with an ankle. I heard they're starting goalie is one of the best at this age. Their backup goalie looks very well trained. the dad I talk to really liked the coach and said the girls are playing better together each week. Give them a little time to gel and they will have a great team down there at the shore.
At this age , the focus should be on development and training, not how many wins you have, and not paying close to $3000 to get that training. Plus extras when travel and accomodations added. Standings really mean nothing at this age. Most of these girls won't be around at age 17. Paying that much money now seems ridiculous . I hope the training is worth the $3000 plus. You should put that money toward their college fund.
10:00 that's where you are wrong. If most of these girls won't be around at age 17 then standings and results are everything to them as they work on a National title. Why would they need development if they won't be playing beyond age 17?
Well said, 11:47. Many girls who will give up the game at a high level by age 17 will enjoy reminiscing with old teammates about how they won state cup at U13 or U14. No one will care whether they played kick and run or possession style. They'll just know that they enjoyed themselves. The friction between the "win now" and "we're focused on development" teams will always be there. Especially when a "win now" team beats a "we're focused on development" team.
As a parent of child who is currently on an apparnetly (more) development-based team, it is pretty frustrating to sit and watch. But I am a believer that in the long run, she will be better prepared to compete at the highest levels. We had a terrible weekend, the club is implementing new players, new plays, and new ways to execute the new plays, and its been rough. It began this past Spring, and is still evolving, as am I.I love you all.
7:01 Can you please tell the fan that shouts-out those deep, loud, and obnoxious hoots every time you guys score, to keep it down. The Ajax girls are use to it, but my daughter was like WTF was that, a whale?P.S. Of course if you tell him this, he will probably do it even louder, so forget that I ever mentioned it.
If you left everything to the here and now and did not concentrate on future development. US women's soccer would be doomed, because those few who do make it, were fortunate enough to be in an environment about development.
"We are focusing on development"Translation = PDA or MatchFit lost
Are you fishing to see what club 8:29 is from? If so, its completely irrelevant, since it can apply to any club, or team. Its the bought that matters, yes?
8:56 True Dat -How come when they win an important game or event they always bring that up and boast about the greatness of their clubs, never downplaying it as unimportant because after all they are focusing on "Development not wins"?Are some of you guys really that easy to fool?
Good luck to all the teams this weekend. Play hard, play smart and parents try to watch and enjoy the game and don't embarrass your kids by being that crazy parent on the sideline.
When a team that doesn't care about winning actually wins, that IS something to crow about.
@7:01. Relax Ajax parent. Wildcats have a lot of respect for your team. Your beat them once since U11. As your club loves to say Wildcats were trying out new things and girls in a meaningless game. Once they went all out and lost in pk's the third game meant nothing. You have a quality team. Let's keep it on the field and not on a blog. Good luck to all teams
implementing new plays? Pitch, sweep, slant???
And don"t" hit the hole"..try passing through the midfield!
please continue to bash each other and leave PDA shore alone. We have a great coach who is only focus is Development!!! We could have easily beat up on all the teams last weekend but the coach insisted on developing by building out of the back and getting the outside backs involved in the attack and he also required a certain amount of passes linked together before a shot can be taken and did not let the girls play otherwise. The results will come and we are ok with that but for now talk about someone else please
HehThat'll be easy
10:48, don’t tell the group what your coach actually did, it makes you look like a apologist, and no one really cares. You come across as a kook.
All teams develop when they practice. The players also need to work on skills during their own time. Now just because a team gets the results no one needs to feel bad about that - your coach is working with them during the week as they prepare for their test come game day. The kids now have to take what they learned in practice and apply it in real game situations to get the result. They will use what works and they shouldn't be made to feel bad if they get the results.Like I said any team that practices is developing. Some do it better than others.
PDA shore starting keeper is very good, from the previous Copa team I believe, they are progressing, beginning season tourney at TRFC hard to judge on. Keeper has been on team for several years, I think most, plus the PDA parents/coaches/players would rather have played in higher level tournament and not play town teams. Once you are doing local town team tournaments as an Academy you will be bashed for getting "easy" points, and God forbid you lose.....
So....about 15 girls on ShoreWhat is the breakdown of which clubs they came from, roughly?Just curious. Looking forward to seeing a 4th PDA team in action.Speaking of PDA, I think the ranks are legit. Ajax may in fact be able to hold that #2 slot in Jersey. Certainly a top 5/6 club when just ignoring the pointsAjax, Wildcats, MF, MFNJX, Crush and Storm
Curious. Why would you list Crush with that group???
pda shore is basically the old U12 Copa team from TRFC, been contending for years in Ocean Cty. Girls have been together a long time, I do understand they picked up from Jackson, but not sure where else. as you say give them time, good players in that area of Ocean, TRFC puts out a great product with boys/girls for few years now, pda is a huge plus for our area of Ocean

3:44 I am not from Ajax or affiliated, but your logic is quite flawed. First, to arbitrarily remove game history because they are "supposed to be wins" is a very poor way to present a case. Second, the losses listed are against some pretty heavy teams. Let them be, or why don't you build a case for teams you feel are better. I bet the list is pretty small.
STA has not played anybody. So only team not to lose does not really mean as much, right?? Another GS flaw..... You can gain points and never really play a top level team. Why GS does not mean much from here on out. Ajax is a solid team people. And I am not a parent. A competitor.
4:24 you are right, if we add them back W13, L11, T1.I will build a case but before i do - how can you say this is the number 2 team in the state when they are a .500% team Going back to Jefferson and so far in the new 2014/2015 season.
No one didn't say they weren't solid but number 2 in the state for real? You can't be .500 and at the top.
4:24 here. I did not post they were number 2 in anything. Just stating that the list of better teams will be small.
PDA Ajax vs GS top 10 (NJ Only)W5, L4, T1PDA Storm 7-2-0NJ Wildcats 7-1-3MF NPL 6-2-1STA 2-1-0MF ECNL 1-0-1All have a better winning% The sad thing is you are right the list is small. What does that say about NJ soccer when a .500 team is top 5?
STA just beat World Class.
I can another list to see how these teams did vs ECNL teams
Saw STA play and they are solid. Will see how they do this year but definately a top 7 team. I have to say that Storm, Ajax, both MF teams and wildcats have earned a top 5 spot. STA, TSF, Dragons and Crush could fight for the next 4 spots.
NJ vs NE ECNL teams (W-L-T)W9, L25, T6PDA Storm - 0-2-1PDA Ajax - 0-7-0NJ Wildcats 2-0-0STA 1-0-0MF NPL 2-3-1NJ Crush 1-5-3Rage 0-1-0NJCSA 0-1-0TSF 0-3-0PDA Dragons 1-1-0MF ECNL 2-2-15:17 I don't argue your point, but the only way to measure top teams is by their results simple - no style points for how they play. PDA Ajax at best is a .500 teams - I just don't see how this team gets so much love. I watched the NJ Crush video, didn't see anything special but you are right we will see this year.Again I am just looking at the results not letting my feelings have a say in this.
What am i missing? I can't say they play better than most teams because I didn't see most teams play.W-L-T13-11-1 Spring 2014 to Fall 20143-3-0 2014/20150-7-0 vs ECNL
So all of the NJ teams suck against ECNL teams. That is why, with the exception of Storm and MF Black (because they will be ECNL teams) they should try to be the best NPL team they could be. Thier goal should be to win an NPL national championship and stop comparing yourselves to ECNL.
Ajax hasn't won anything. To be called number 2 is ridiculous. I saw them play several times. Nothing to write home about. A few good players, like every other team, that is all. Let them start winning against high competitive teams then we will talk.
Ajax Last 12 months from GSRanked StatisticsGames 36W-D-L 21-3-12Goals For 77Goals Against 51Goal Ratio 1.51Win % 58.3%Not horrible. I can see if you don't feel it is worthy of top of the top and you can make a case for that but it's not like they are doormats.
Again many of you are too caught up with the win. I would rather battle and lose a close game in ECNL against a solid team than beat up on sub par edp NPL teams. You are only going to get better by challenging yourself and playing the top teams. If you lose some on the way, so be it. At least that is what the top players should be doing.....
Your right, 7:42, if you are on an ECNL team. The rest of you should focus on being the best NPL team. Your not all going to make ECNL. But if your NPL team wins a National Championship your kid will get plenty of college exposure.
I am 5:17. I never said Ajax was a #2 team. I said they were top 5. Maybe they are 5th. I have seen all of these teams play in the top 9 I mentioned. STA and Dragons have a chance to get to top 5 instead of Ajax. Need to see how fall plays out. Crush is a big question mark and I don't think TSF is worthy of top 5.
8:00 I know - My stats about Ajax were directed at this comment."Speaking of PDA, I think the ranks are legit. Ajax may in fact be able to hold that #2 slot in Jersey."7:42 S0 you would rather your child play 22 hard games a year and miss the ECNL playoffs every year? How do top players benefit from this?Good teams are going to win and there is nothing wrong with wanting your kid to win a National title. Since when is winning taboo? Nobody is saying winning over development. I am with everyone that believes development is the primary goal. But when talking about teams and how good they are there is only one metric.
7:42 you would rather do that, but would your daughter rather play a close game and lose or win?
You play.... To win....the game!-herm
I thought with ajaxs new pick ups they would have improved. They should have stayed with there core group of girls.Dont think there pick ups were strong. After seeing them over the weekend. But I do believe in years to come better girls will flock to pda and they will make adjustments.
My daughter made first round ODP. Is the money worth it? Or should she wait until she's older.
How many new girls on Ajax? Didn't one girl from Rage go there? Not doing well huh?
10:07 from experience, if you have another 2g to spare then yes, good interaction with new and talented girls and possiblity to selected to regional camp!!!!!!Saw my daughter put on a uniform with NEW JERSEY on it , very proud. Lovd it. But to be honest Not wasting my money for that showcase of ball hogs that don't pass or play any D at all . I'll stick with my club instead
Soocer is a team game and trust. There is NO I in D1 soccer There is NO I in WNST There is NO I in EPL etc......
Game is simple play smart play D pass and move
It seems many times the ones who attend and progress through the TIPs and ODPs are the selfish (ball hogs) players that have the skills but are not great teammates who play the game correctly. Great players make other players better around them in team sports. Is this where this country is headed for USWNT?
There are a few of those with very high soccer IQ's that make the players and the team better. They are not ball hogs and they will go the furthest in this game of soccer. They stand out on the field but also try hard to blend into the team.Goals scored are not the end goal for these players. If they decide to stay with the game they will go far.and then theres the next level down, I call them the "look at me players" great athletes will try to score but will never make the players around them better. Most of the girls at ODP are those kinds of players.
12:20 I agree - my daughter played last year and did well I was a little surprised that she did not want to tryout this year. Lots of ME players in ODP - good for them and some of them will go far maybe it changes the older you get - remember we are talking 11/12 year olds. One thing is for sure ODP will not miss my daughter and I was happy to hear my daughter won't miss ODP even thought she won't have ODP for her soccer resume.
Re: Ajax comment"....a few good players but that is all"Some folks have a weird way of looking at a game. Yes, a player or players can stand out in spots but you shouldnt be evaluating the PLAYER, then adding it up in your head to get a total account of the teamWatch the TEAM. Are they tough? Does the ball move well? Is the defense giving up easy opportunities en masse? Do they communicate? Do they play east/west (change fields well)? Do they play south as well as north? Do they have leaders? Is the staff affecting the game in a positive manner (in game adjustments)?
Okay Ajax parent. You are obviously trying to talk up your daughter's team. These responses on this blog are not meant to hurt anyone's feelings, I believe it all comes down to how much money ($3000 plus) you are paying for a mediocre team. Also when you take on more players , they should really be assets and make team better. If they don't I think that's why people are commenting. No one is saying Ajax doesn't know how to play the game.
News flash! If your kid is on any of these teams you are paying very close to the same money. You are lying if you say differently. And yes, I would rather my daughter be challenged at the highest level possible in ECNL every weekend than win more in NPL. They will become better players for it and THAT is why the coaches will pick from ALL of the ECNL pool before getting to the NPL champion team.
Ajax is clearly a better team than 9 months agoThat would signal 1 or both of:- current players developing well under coach's tutelage- new players integrating well
