U13G / U13 Girls Youth Soccer

U13G  / U13 Girls youth soccer seems to offer the most teams and the widest diversity of talent.

Where these players will end up is anyone guess.

Welcome to the ride.

STOP THE PRESSES!!! World Class is not, in fact, world class. Also, Tophat Soccer Club does not distribute top hats to its players.

They can't fool me!!!!

4:37 boy you are really stretching it now!
Better watch out your nose is growing Pinocchio.

If they start a development academy on the girls side as the boys side has done then it will no longer be pay to play for the top players and you will have 25-30 players from each of our states playing for free and only playing for clubs who have sponsors and do not charge their players and provide everything from travel, uniforms, league and ref fees, etc free of charge.
If that happens then that will again change the landscape and none of us can even speculate which clubs will be able to provide sponsors for free play or if it will somehow be run by the Women's Professional League Clubs or W-League Franchises.
Let's not get ahead of ourselves here.

Anonymous said...

That would be a pretty thing to behold. I wonder how many players would flood into a program like that and how many from each team in NJ would actually make the DA. -No pay means a flood of prospects. But as of now, i think its only a dream.

Anonymous said...

4:48 there are 3 teams that have 90% same players the last 2-3 years.

Match Fit Pre ECNL
World Class
Match Fit NPL

I have attended WC, STA, PDA and MF sessions.

MF, PDA, STA, WC in order that I ranked sessions I attended over past 2 years. My to be 13 year old ended up at 2nd tier academy. Did not make MF team (her choice) this year.

Anonymous said...

DA picks would depend on the coach

3 different guys could have three different rosters, though I'd bet between 8 and 10 would be on all three lists.

Its that time of year...for FUTSAL!

Yes, step right up, and sign the little princess up!
Look for a reputable club or team in your area, because I can gaurantee you that the best players participate in this program.

It builds superior foot skills, quick decision making, and is great to jeep-up fitness, while the other players get fat. Good luck campers!

Anonymous said...

What are the better Futal Leagues in NY, NJ and PA?

Anonymous said...

Not sure about actual leagues, but there are clubs and teams that are starting to train now for the USFF Northeast Regionals in Wildwood NJ. Some of the best clubs on the East Coast will be sending their teams, its the weekend OF Feb. 13-14, and its always a blast for the girls. Ask your daughters coach if tyne club has a futsal team for their age group, and join!

Anonymous said...

I know the most popular futsal leagues in SJ and PA. Both good teams and use the league to practice for the regional tournaments like the one in Wildwood and Philly.

SJ - http://www.usyouthfutsal.com/southjerseyfutsal/index_E.html

PPA - http://www.phillyfutsal.com/

Cool, you agree that its an important part of the offseason, yes? My daughters club has teams from u10-u16 male and female, its great fun, and they are learning techniques that will only help them in the spring!

Anonymous said...

Is there any benefit to futsal vs. just playing a 5v5 or 7v7 league/team? Our coach didn't have much of an opinion favoring or against. I've asked around & no one has done it in my circles.

Anonymous said...

During the off seasons, my daughter's team does futsal. From my perspective, the futsal game is much faster. The 5v5 and/or 7v7 is just like normal training in small space, but it isn't as fast as the futsal. If you want to improve the touch and speed the brain up, futsal is the answer.

Anonymous said...

Good stuff 334, thanks. IF you don't mind me asking what futsal league your daughter playing in? I don't see nor heard of any around? I'm up in North NJ but willing to travel if its worth it, not to Wildwood though.

Anonymous said...

3:34 is correct, in that the game played on hard-rubber floors like at the Wildwood event is different than at Teaneck Armoury, which has your classic 5v5 or 7v7 formats. The rules are a little different, and it is much faster, but ultimately its about getting out there and playing. IMO its really not enough to just practice twice a week indoors with the team, and perhaps play in a tournament, or two.

Futsal is a great supplement to your regular schedule, with my daughter participates in.

BTW: Some of the EM Hotshotz girls play futsal in the off-season with DV Academy on LI, and they are not a shabby bunch. It can only make you more appreciative of the big game!

Anonymous said...

Wildwood is a weekend tournament, the USFF Northeast Regional, winner goes to Nationals!

My daughter plays in Westchester, and its not a league, its weekly training as a team, until the regional event, its fun, she loves it, and she has improved as a player, I see it, her team’s coach sees it, and we are big fans!

Anonymous said...

Link for futsal tournament in Wildwood. Great tournament/great facility. Highly recommend for futsal teams out there looking for high level winter tournament.

Anonymous said...

Futsal overall is different type game for girls and boys. That fast/strong player on a outdoor field or indoor turf field sometimes do not transition well in a fast pace futsal environment where foot skills come in play.

It is great offseason training because it helps with improve quicker decision making process and techniques quickly develop more.

Anonymous said...

futsal is great. Thumbs up all day. Not bad for keepers either, the ball comes quickly, it is heavier, so keepers learn more "reaction" skills in this method.

Anonymous said...

Finally, some positive comments, unlike last year where some know-it-alls began to knock it as un-soccer-like, what????

Anonymous said...

MF has 90% of players from last 2-3 years--- Garbage, I'm on MF and NO WAY!

All the NPLs will be eventually entered.

EDL NPL & New England NPL use GS software.

NYCSL NPL linked their web page with GS.

All others are manual entries. So if the coach doesn't name their team with ECNL or NPL I believe a new team account is created and the Flight values are lower than they should be. The Northeast Girls NPL Pre-ECNl will do fine it won't have the max 10,000 it should but it will have a lot of points. The NPL flight and the Virginia NPL will be undervalued by a lot.

This is nothing a parent can do or a blogger can fix, it is what it is. For example FSA giving their 3rd team their best GS account to help them. I love GS but by no means is it accurate.

It's nice to see that there is at least 1 jackass out there who is ready to disparage Futsal, good one buddy. As if the thread was about winning a National Championship, which it wasn't. It's about becoming a better footballer, something your child desperately needs. Anyone who knocks Futsal, cannot play Futsal. It's not for everyone, it's for the best players on your team, only the best players.

Anonymous said...

I agree with you,a team that gets invited to the national tournament had to pay their dues in regional play. I'm sure these very good teams play futsal for the practice just like our team does, they just happened to be better at it than we are.futsal keeps them at the top of their game.Come spring they are ready to go....these are the teams we go to Wildwood to play against. The thing I love is I never heard a word about.I guess you stat guys don't follow futsal.

Anonymous said...

I have a question for all the gurus out there. My daughter has progressed from the rec leagues to travel to on of these so called top teams or academy as some call it.
My question is I do not see any difference in training at any of the different levels. In fact I think the training is the worst now at this so called top location with all the trainers with alphabets at the end of their names with A-Z licenses.

Every level the play keep away and honestly I have never played soccer but played many other sports and I am a firm believer that you play the way you practice. If you practice at half speed you play at half speed. The training is nonchalant. Nothing is corrected. Shouldn't they be learning stuff and something different at every practice, like a progression? Sick of seeing direct kicks from 35 yards out thinking the kid is gonna score, instead of trying to chip it or put it to the far post and letting someone run on to it. What about following a ball to the net after a shot. Just wondering on opinions? Think they should be getting better training for $$$$. Yes I do stay and watch 90% of all practices and attend 100% of the games.

Anonymous said...

Not that I don't follow futsal - but a complete team can not play together so you have to split them up or you have friends from different teams playing together. Stats? on what?

Anonymous said...

10:42 is your question "Shouldn't they be learning stuff and something different at every practice, like a progression?" I will keep it short the coach knows what's best for his/her team. Now it's up t you to educate your self and understand what's going on and see what else is available for your daughter - if you are already paying $$$$ - money shouldn't be an issue.

If the team has quality players that care about the sport then your kid is in a good place. Training is a dime a dozen - but when you combine quality training with quality players then you have something special. Quality players = Players that care about the sport and want to play the sport in college and beyond. These players always give 100% at training sessions which elevates everything. Just my opinion.

Anonymous said...

10:42

I understand what you are saying, you must be very careful in your team and training choices at the so called Academy levels. The coach, not the club, will determine how successful your daughter is in learning and achieving success in this game.

It is a fallacy that many parents have that clubs follow a strict cirricullem for their club.

Keep away and drills for the sake of drills is not what I would call significant training.

But it is hard to give you any more info without knowing some more about the style of play your teams plays and a little bit more what the coach tries to achieve in games.

Remember keep away can be very effective training tool if coach is watching for technical flaws with regards to the player trying to get out of pressure.

or it can be used to kill time and as practice filler.

Can you provide a bit more information.

The tell tale sign of a team that has a coach that is a bit deficient is if the team practices one way and plays in a game in another way.

There is no qualification necessary for National Futsal championship. Any team can enter. Just fill out registration form and send a check. Wildwood more competitive but also no qualification necessary. Any skill level can enter. Names are just names not regional or national.

Anonymous said...

1042 can you say which team she plays for ? is it a true academy team (PDA MF WC) or not?

Anonymous said...

to soccer nut, can you summarize what your thoughts are on the academy/ecnl teams vs the others? are you of the mind that if you're not playing ecnl, why bother? or as long as you're playing/learning/having fun, it's all good? thanks v much.

Anonymous said...

10:42 here

Yes one of those so called academies. Keep away is every practice for about 1 hour of the 1.5 hour practice. No shooting. Last half hour is a scrimmage. Nothing constructive or informative. We play an extremely direct game, very direct.

Anonymous said...

12:20

I am neither for or against ECNL. I am very much for the coach that is training my daughter.

There are mediocre coaches in the ECNL.

And there are great coaches inside and outside the ECNL.

10:42

I believe I know what team you are referring to.

Does your team train on one of these nights.

Monday or Friday ?

One is the correct day.

If i am correct, then my answer to you is that your intuition is correct.

Okay who doesn't care about EDP? Pipeline, STA or JPS? Scores never reported or games never played? Either way both give GS a black eye combined with EDP's decision to give points prior to the season ending to inflate GS Flight values of any event their team's participate in while decreasing flight values of others

The point of this post is for all the GS lovers out there. It's scenarios combined with other scenarios that GS can't control (multiple accounts) that will hurt GS in the long run. I't only a matter of time until a third party comes up with a tool that's better and doesn't require the use of their software.

Anonymous said...

Well 8:53, start writing some code!

STA is a perfect example of a club over-reaching just to build points. Was it not enough to compete in NPL, they also had to play in EDP, wtf? That goes against the USSF guidelines concerning training and match ratios, its too much, and frankly unnecessary. Perhaps that is one of the reasons they forfeited their NPL to MSC, I heard they were very late to game, and MSC was more than happy to penalize them for it.

So play more games or live with the results and system.
Who is stopping you?
Stop knocking others for going out and putting their teams and their clubs on the line in competitions while you guys hide and avoid taking on strong teams outside your leagues in elite tournament play.
That is your choice and your clubs.
Stop making excuses.
Look at E. Meadow,
they are also playing around 40 games.
that is pretty standard for most of the strong teams.
The only team whose totals are way above and out of whack is STA.

Anonymous said...

That is amazing when you look at it this way STA the GS NJ #1 team played 42 GS games more than MF Pre ECNL. Even if GS included all their NEG NPL games they would still have played approx 30 games less in the same season. WOW!!!!

Anonymous said...

Once NPL and ECNL league results are posted it should even out in NJ. Those teams played 11 games.

Anonymous said...

10:17 and your assumption is that the NPL and ECNL flight values will be accurate?

10:13 since you asked who is stopping you. No one is but it is recommend that coaches follow the below. So ask yourself if your coach is not following these guidelines why? Are they not aware? or are they aware and choose not to follow for other reasons. Also very important when it comes to picking a team for your kid.

Recommended Training Sessions to Match Ratio

U-10 2:1

"Position Statement from the
55 US Youth Soccer State Association technical directors on the topic of tournament play:
We believe that excessive play at competitive tournaments is detrimental to individual growth and
development and can reduce long-term motivation. Multiple matches being played on one day and one
weekend have a negative effect on the quality experience and development of the individual player.
Further, far too many playing schedules include so many tournaments and matches that there is never
an off season. We believe that players under the age of 12 should not play more than 100 minutes per
day, and those players older than 13 should not play more than 120 minutes per day. We also
recommend to tournament managers and schedulers:
"

"Long-Term Player Development
Development of soccer players is a continuum that overlaps age groups. The following are the top 10
objectives in the development of a soccer player:
1) Develop the child’s appreciation of the game.
2) Keep winning and losing in proper perspective.
3) Be sensitive to each player’s development needs.
4) Educate the players to the technical, tactical, physical and psychological (four components of
soccer) demands of the game for their level of play.
5) Implement rules and equipment modifications according to the players’ age group.
6) Allow players to experience all positions.
7) Players need to have fun and receive positive feedback.
8) Training should be conducted in the spirit of enjoyment and learning.
9) Provide the appropriate number of training sessions and matches according to the player’s stage
of development.
10) Strive to help each player reach their full potential and be prepared to move to the next stage of
development.

Thanks 10:32, 9:00 here, its obvious that sometimes more does not equate to better, but STA is a good team, and they can compete with anyone. I just think they did not need to play both NPL and EDP, hope they don't repeat this in the spring. I am all for playing for the love of the game, but sometimes you can play smarter, and still get the same rewards.

Anonymous said...

10:48 I agree STA is a good team not trying to take anything away from them, but they are the poster child for this conversation. For any parent considering playing for them or that are currently playing for them why so many games if everyone is saying it doesn't benefit the child? This question goes to every team playing close to 50 games a season.

Simple math would tell us 52 weeks x 2 = 104 training sessions per year as the max. if the team trained this much they should play no more than 35 games a year.

GS Recorded Games played by State

They had a chance to finish 1st in NPL, which is a great achievement, but the forfeit to MSC gave NYSC the fall crown, and yes I know its not over, but going into the spring they are the ones that are chasing, and need help. Or NPL is that that important to them, either way, it was a rough ending to a great fall season for STA.

P.S. I heard that MSC gave them no grace period whatsoever, that is low-rent to me, they tried to do that in another game, wanted the home team to forfeit because the officials got lost, and it was cold outside.

Anonymous said...

11:10 If I was MSC I wouldn't either, people have plans and they were not the ones that over scheduled their fall. So why should their plans take a hit there is life beyond soccer for some. STA had an obligation to meet and they didn't - it's that simple.

Dear Grumpy, I disagree. Not sure how late they were, but given the fact that they are forfeit happy, MSC sucks for doing that. Its that simple.

Anonymous said...

12:15 so you wanted those parent to shuffle their plans because STA couldn't make it - so they had to make different plans just because STA over booked. How is that Grumpy? Who over scheduled? Why should anyone have to change their plans for someone who didn't think things through. I agree with their decision to make STA pay.

However, they should have scrimmaged since the kids didn't do anything wrong - they deserved to play both MSC and STA.

Anonymous said...

The MSC-STA issue is over - give it a rest

And no, STA doesnt "need help", 11:10. Running the table with seven wins gives them the overall title.

Anonymous said...

NJ Crush would "need help"

If they run the table with seven wins then NYSC would need to drop 3 more points (1 more loss or 2 ties) - and STA woukld need to not win their 6 other games.

I could see it going

33, 33 and 32 points atop that division. Great spring ahead.

Anonymous said...

The game between STA and NYSC on 3/22 should be very entertaining, both are solid teams, should be interesting to see how the major tournaments play-out this winter/spring. Both MSC and Jeff Cup are before the start of NPL season, curious to see if either teams participates in one, or both.

Anonymous said...

STA tournament is in between those 2 as well.

What do the 55 state USYSA technical directors say about clubs bloating rosters above 18 and having 11 and 12 year olds not being chosen to dress or play for their teams events.
Have fun and receive positive Feedback?
I don't think so.
Program conducted in the spirit of enjoyment and learning?
You decide.

Dude, just come and say what team you are talking about, you will feel better

Anonymous said...

NYSC holds destiny in their hands.
STA wins divsion if they run the table.
NJ Crush needs STA to win vs NYSC and they also need to beat STA and NYSC.
MSC and ISA are long shots, they both need NYSC to lose to STA and NJ Crush plus they need to beat NJ Crush.
The both need to beat STA or only one if NJ Crush beats STA. Nj Crush needs to drop just one game and if either MSC or ISA win out they go to Indiana.
Massapequa, Quickstrike andNY rush canonly play spoiler this year. Should be great games for them as theother teams will be playing to win and win big.

Crush could take the title with an STA-NYSC TIE

Dont need that STA early win.

Even if NYSC beat STA Crush can win out and be champs with any NYSC tie or loss.

No thanks necessary

ISA NPL-01 (NYE) 1-0

no predictions -just hope the girls enjoy the stretch run and for one group of girls they are going to have a special summer playing for a national title.

Anonymous said...

Better explained:

NYSC up 2 pn STA and up 5 on Crush

For every loss you deduct three points, for ecery tie you deduct 2.

Thus, with an NYSC tie vs STA and a loss to Crush they lose 5 points.

And a tie in standing wouldnt be good enough

Anonymous said...

Maybe - ties complicate matters -just wanted to keep scenarios clean.

STA - NYSC tie

would give NYSC 33 and STA 31
while NJ Crush winning out would give them 33 and I think tie breaker.

Anonymous said...

< sorry for the typos >

Anonymous said...

The long shots complicate matters andI love it. if the above holds true and ISA wins out they would have 31, NYSC would have 30, STA would be at 28 NJ Crush at 30.

Same would be true is MSC wins out.

The key is the STA NYSC game - a NYSC win would be like a hammer being dropped.

Anonymous said...

4:51 who cares about typos

Anonymous said...

Then again maybe Indiana isn't important to some of these teams and a shot at a national title. Maybe they would prefer to schedule a bunch of games and rack up those GS points. love the GS wildcard.

Anonymous said...

Sorry forgot about the NY and NJ Spring Cup and what it adds to the equation.

MSC, Jefferson, EDP, State Cups and League games i guess we get to see what's mor eimportant for these teams this spring.

Anonymous said...

Virginia NPL also interesting. if PWSI doesn't win the overall standings race at the end of the Spring season they will force a 1 game playoff because they were fall Champions. Kind of like that rule a little. Hate the NEG NPL playoff scenario - makes for a boring spring for those teams. We all know who the top 4 are and so do they. Who get hot and who stacks their lineups will represent that league. EDL going to jump into the conversation as well this March. Oakwood has an outside shot but NEFC looks to strong for NewEngland NPL.

Anonymous said...

Sad that New England sends just the one team

Excellent quality from both Oakwood and NEFC

Anonymous said...

I agree STA had a great fall season. Played in two leagues and failed to win either league. Played in state cup and failed to even make the finals, but they tied PDA. Wow thats a great season. Congrats your team is ranked #1 In NJ. Gotsoccer needs to be fixed.

Anonymous said...

Dude, you are about as bitter as chewing aspirin, why the hate? Did they forget to send you a Christmas card, or did they take their ball back?

Anonymous said...

To the hate-monger, we only can dream that our teams will be as perfect as yours one day...

Anonymous said...

6:47 is the same old sicko hater.
He is bitter because his team was once highly ranked(and never a complaint about GotSoccer or the rankings system back then).
What he doesn't get is that his beef is with his own club, who only enters the team in half as many games, events and tournaments as before.
He should be questioning where all the dues money is going if they are only paying for 1/2 as many events, tournament applications, state cup applications, ref fees etc., yet they pay the same dues as the other clubs doing 2x or more .

Anonymous said...

Nah - this sounds like Wildcats banter, not PDA......

CATS have a point. Looking at the body of work they should be ahead of STA

But all that will come out in time, should the teams continue as current.

What WildC should admit, however - is that STA does have a legitimate claim to the top of NPL for fall. Taking a cheap shot - "they didnt win either league" - is immature

Anonymous said...

You are talking about two teams that chase points. Proven in the amount of games and multiple leagues and leagues that give points for both seasons. So short sided and will all come to an end..... Enjoy now i guess.....
ECNL has some impressive national showcases is Spring. Will be interesting to see what teams PDA and MF bring. Who will start to make the final top teams come U14?

The Super Y League today announced the addition of 21 clubs to the league for the 2015 season.

This league is not giving up it's actually growing.

Honestly, this seems like a better option than playing Summer Tournaments. Play a summer league with 10 games and a trip to a national Event in FL for those that qualify.

The PDA Dragons caught my eye immediately, I am from NYE, and looking at that list makes me think that PDA is doing right by them, concentrating more on training, than games. At this level U13, its all about the correct, and intense training a team receives. All of these girls have many years of soccer to impress, but getting the proper, and top-notch training is the key.

P.S. Is there a particular club missing from the NYE list, hmmm I wonder why this is?

Anonymous said...

7:49 probably for the same reason you bring up. I only listed top 5 GP - so they played less than 40.

Anonymous said...

Indeed, most of the parents on our team wanted the girls to go to another tournament, but the club places great emphasis on the technical/tactical aspect of soccer. Look, are we perfect? No. Are we mistake-free? No. But at the end of the day, do most of the parents believe their child is getting the best training, damn right they do.

NYCSL NPL

The road to Indiana

will go through NYSC who went 3 wins and a ties against the top 4 teamsc ontending for a title with a +7 goal differential. They have to be the favorites. NJ Crush will probably have the best chance to catch NYSC with STA being the key. My guess would be based on the fall, STA will play EDP and NYCSL NPL again, they will participate in their own tournament, NJ Club Cup and probable a few other tournaments. They will play NYSC early before the busy schedule can come into play and that game willbe a coin flip. I am sure teams will follow the MSC approach and not make scheduling games easy for STA which could lead to another 3-0 forfeit. NJ Crsuh vs vs the top 4 only has 1 win, 3 ties and lost 1. This shows that the spring games will be battles for these girls.

MY NYCSL NPL top 5 prediction

1. NYSC (trip to Indiana)
2. NJ Crush
3. ISA
4. STA
5. MSC

Anonymous said...

My NPL predictions for Indiana.

NYSC to represent NYCSL NPL
NEFC to represent New England NPL
PWSI to represent Virginia NPL
NJ WIldcats to represent EDL NPL

MF NPL to represent North East NPL (this is the toughest one to call with a 4 team play off to decide champion).

Say what you want but this is an impressive list representing Region 1 at the NPL finals. All solid teams.

Enjoy the Holidays and the winter break and remember DON'T ADD ANY UNNECESSARY PRESSURE. Let the kids kids enjoy the ride.

Anonymous said...

8:09, I agree its going to be close, and a lot of fun! The girls are young, and don't concern themselves with gossip, and team-bashing, they simply play for the love of the game. They are a very competitive bunch, no doubt, but at the end of the day, they still take their uniforms off, and go back to being regular young ladies. But once that uniform comes back on, they are all business, and they are all-in.

Records vs each other in ( )

NPL Virginia 2014-15

24 PRINCE WILLIAM SOCCER (W2, L0, T0, GD +5)
22 VIRGINIA RUSH ATHLETIC CLUB (W0, T1, L1, GD -2)
22 FC VIRGINIA U13G (W0, T1, L1, GD -3)

PWSI already clinched a 1 game playoff if they fall during the spring and don’t finish on top. Which is not unthinkable since there are only 2 points separating the 3 teams.

##########################

New England Girls NPL Fall 2014

21 NEFC ELITE U13 GIRLS
16 OAKWOOD SC

NEFC beat Oakwood 3-1 and has a commanding 5 point lead. Oakwood not only needs to win their head 2 head game vs NEFC but they also need Seacoast to wake up and make a run this Spring and steal some points from NEFC. Not sure if NEFC already clinched or if New England is a straight through league and Spring gets added to Fall with no layoffs. Couldn’t find any info on this.

##########################

NPL Northeast Girls League 2014-15

29 PDA North 01 (W1, T2, L0, GD +1)
27 Match Fit Academy 01 NPL (W1, T2, GD +2)
27 PDA South 01 (W1, T0, L2, GD +2)
26 Connecticut FC 01 NPL (W0, T2, L1, GD -5)

Assuming the NPL flight goes to Indiana and not the Pre-ECNL flight. All 4 of the teams are a sure bet to finish in the top 4 and play a weekend playoff like they did last year. PDA North aka Dragons sit on top but giving up 11 goals to the teams not at the top tells me they are not the best team in the league. MF NPL on the other hand only gave up 2 goals to the same teams and PDA South aka AJAX only gave up 2 goals as well. CFC aka Arsenal didn’t give up any. Tough to pick a winner but – If I had to pick one today it would be MF NPL.

##########################

NPL – EDP

North Division
ALBANY ALLEYCATS U13 GIRLS ELITE
TSF ACADEMY 01/02
SMITHTOWN STARS
NJSTALLIONS13
FC COPA ACADEMY LIMA

South Division
NJCSA GALAXY
NJ RUSH 13G (NJ)
LEHIGH VALLEY UNITED 01 GIRLS
SOUTH JERSEY ELITE BARONS '01
NJ WILDCATS AVERBUCH
MARYLAND RUSH RUSH 01G

Assuming these are the division at u13. The NJ State Cup Champions have to be the favorites with a win over LVU under their belt as well, NJCSA GALAXY also a wildcard and probably the only contender along with LVU who they beat. To represent the South and probably the league in Indiana. Albany is an unknown to me, TSK looks like they should have the North under control.

NYCSL NPL already posted

Region 1 Champions League Teams TBD still

8:08 that is a crock and you know it.
If Dragons were doing more training sessions then all the other teams are doing that do more events then OK, but that is not the case so what in the world are you talking about.
You are getting 2 training sessions per week for your dues , same as every other team in nj, yet you do half the events and some of the events like the Randolph tournament are for area town teams.

Anonymous said...

Yes, you too, and make sure you get her the $200 cleats this Christmas, not the $60 knock-offs!

Anonymous said...

7:49 not buying you are from NYE. You obviously are a Dragon parent. Otherwise you would have stated the same for the Match Fit ECNL team

Anonymous said...

4:09 Unless of course he/she noticed that MF Pre-ECNL did not have last year's NPL and NPL Finals games included (I believe 12), 9 would have fallen off as fall games.

3:51 You went for the cleats you cheapo. You should have went for the home run a trip to Canada to watch the USWNT. That's how I roll, just call me Mr. Big Time.

Happy Holidays All.

Anonymous said...

Not only did I go for the cleats, I went to Models to get them, is that bad? Does it matter that they are a half-size smaller on the left? That's not her kicking foot anyway, right?

And no, I am not a Dragon parent, my daughter players for_____________.

Anonymous said...

Training at the Dragons is off the charts. Best around

Anonymous said...

Leave Dragons alone. Too many happy parents and kids there. They make me sick!

Anonymous said...

I don't know about happiest, but Dragon parents are certainly the most gullible parents out there judging by 7:49 and 8:08. Unless of course those posts are not really from Dragons parents.
Will this years Jeff Cup be the first time Dragons have traveled out of state to attend a competitive tournament?

Anonymous said...

No dude, I am not a PDA Dragon's parent, not even close, but the training ethos can apply to any top program.

Anonymous said...

If my daughter was looking to move into the top 5 or so clubs, we would probably look at only Match Fit, or PDA.. STA looks good at the top as well... I would not look too hard at Wildcats... From a parent who sits next to those Wildcat's parents periodically - Who wants to be part of that group?

Anonymous said...

Maybe the Dragons are short changed somewhat by not playing in the top tournaments Regionally or Nationally. But so what. From what I have seen they are very good technically and really enjoy playing with each other. Will see them "happily" at D1 schools.

Anonymous said...

6:03, what makes you think your daughter is good enough to roster with any if those teams? Those are all top teams, and really hard to make. I would try teams like Mercer, Copa and SJEB, yeah that sounds more realistic.

Anonymous said...

I dont think Dragons have a projectable D1 player in their lineup

but thats fine - plenty of good soccer played elsewhere

Anonymous said...

So 6:03 attacks Wildcat parents and then Wildcat parent (8:29) lashes out at 12 year old girls? You wonder why you are the most hated team on this blog and why you have to be pretty desperate to want to play there. It's not their girls, it's their obnoxious, hateful and jealous parents. You are the lowest life form.

Merry Christmas!

Anonymous said...

8:29, where does your daughter play? Obviously not Storm or MF ECNL bcause they don't even think about non ECNL teams. Couldn't be MF NPL or AJAX because they didn't beat Dragons this Fall. So it would have to be a parent of an STA or Wildcats player although neither team has played the Dragons this Fall. And couldn't be STA because they actually have classy parents. Leaves one team. Wildcats. No matter what success you claim to have you will never earn the respect of any other team or organization. And unfortunately for you it affects your daughters which is the exact opposite of what you are trying to accomplish. You are a pathetic parent.

Who would you say Legacy didn't play that they dont deserve to be Div 1. (Especially 11v11)

Anonymous said...

11:08

That's nothing, Nordic & DE Rush in div 1?

They only looked at state cup results last spring, a lot of which was 8v 8 non the less. Completely lazy!

That's why the Ukrainians(8th in PAGS1) who Penn Legacy beat 5-1 and 3-1 this fall are in Div 1 and Legacy is in Div 2.

YMS also beat Victory Express and 1776 this fall but YMS in div 2 while those teams are div 1.

Not even the most inexperienced tournament committee would have bracketed these teams like this.

The Region 1 people have become a joke. They had a chance to put a top quality league together to give the top non ecnl teams in the region a chance to play similar quality teams week in and out and completely blew it. If they can't even get brackets right what good are they?

My apologies for anything bad I said about US Club Soccer and the ECNL. Right about now you guys have obviously have shown yourselves to be the future and that US Youth Soccer (esp reg 1) is just a has been organization run by fools!

Most of the top NJ Clubs are NPL and they have a National NPL Final, why do R1 Champions League - it's for teams that can't participate in NPL or ECNL.

7:08

Are you saying those are not the final brackets? If not why release them to anyone " public" or not?

Anonymous said...

State Cup was in April. National Championship was in Fall.

Anonymous said...

7:32 They weren't released by region 1.
This is why I don't post that stuff, until it's finalized it's just an Applied Team List. It's just someone that posts on this site that likes to see the links disabled once admins see the source. Good job by that poster, they must not like seeing that info before it's released.

When it's finalized Region 1 will update their site.

NJ & NY have both a USYSA State Cup that is part of the NCS and a US Club State Cup that leads to a US Club national event.

7:37

Seen that competition referred to as a "cup" numerous times on here usually preceded by the word "weak" since NJ Wildcats won and PDA and MF did not participate. Not sure what the difference is

Their website may not be updated but that sure looks like an official "release" right from the director and published on got soccer. Sure doesn't sound like it's just a "applied teams list" either.

Anonymous said...

7:57 very simple difference. In order to play in the USYSA NCS you need to be carded by NJYS which is part of USYSA, it is not an OPEN event. PDA & MF play in ECNL and NPL which are US Club and have US club cards. The Spring event is a US Club State Cup for the teams that don'y have USYSA cards.

Some teams looked at it as an opportunity to get 2 state Cups with an opportunity for 2 national titles, while others picked one and are sticking with it.

8:04 Well that would tell me it's official then. Thanks for sharing.

So each team play 5 games? or do they play 10 (home/away) with the winners playing each other for the title. The Bottom teams get relegated while the D2 teams get promoted.

From Region 1 website:

" There will be promotion and regelation between the Divisions starting 2016"

So will these be the divisions next fall and maybe next spring as well?

Anonymous said...

So the thought is to have the best other teams from the region that are not ECNL or NPL. Makes sense.

Anonymous said...

So Prince William Courage will play both NPL and Region 1 CL? Again, this is what I mean about over reaching with game scheduling, these Virginia girls are going to be burned-out come July, some long car-rides this spring!

8:35 same thing with NJ Wildcats. Playing EDP, NPL and Region 1 CL.
Does PW have multiple teams? Is the same team playing both?

8:33 I disagree. Region 1 was around first - The top teams always played premier/colonial/northeast leagues. Then came ECNL and all the top clubs moved their top teams to ECNL, NPL is just in their 2nd year on the girls side. region 1 had to rebrand and change things up a little. They were always solid leagues and always will be for the individual teams that want Titles

Anonymous said...

Very interesting 2 NPL teams playing region 1,I would have expected zero. The sad thing is they took spots away from other teams that can't play NPL.

Anonymous said...

WAGS has joined forces with US Club Soccer, it's just a matter of time until it become a PL or NPL.

How about PAGS? I didn't see PA Classics on the Region 1 list?

I still think the ASL will become an NPL it's a much better model than what they have.

It looks like other than Penn Legacy, who obviously should be in Div 1 the new region 1 champions league did a good job and even the strongest teams in division 1 will have at least 3 very tough games out of 5 in their bracket.
That was certainly the case in pre-ecnl league as well as there were a few one sided games for each of the top teams.
Plus the promotion/relegation rule means legacy and any other team that finishes at top of D2 will move up for 2nd season.
by U14 any kinks will be worked out by this rule and we should have 6 very strong teams in each half of D1.
As I had stated a few weeks ago there will not be 4 brackets of 8 but 2 brackets of 6 in Division 1.
Looking at the list we can all agree I think that there are more than enough strong teams to have a very balanced group of 12 teams in Division 1 by next year when it all sorts itself out after a season of competition and the cream rises to the top.
Let's give it a chance!
Only ones attacking are those who have something to lose($$$) if it works.
don't be fooled, they are still hoping they can shut us out of having a league of top level teams.
It won't work as there are clearly more than enough teams signed up to make an outstanding league of 12 which will give us 5 competitive league games each season and then 2 great playoff games(semis and final, 3rd place game) for those who finish in the top 2 spots in each half of the bracket. Also participation in region 1 Champions League offering carrot of Wildcard spot in Region 1 Tournament and a shot at USYSA Nationals for team who comes out on top.
also remember if Region 1 League Champion is already going to Region 1 tournament as their own states state cup champ then wildcard will work it's way down to finalist, 3rd place, etc. And we certainly are all interested in earning a spot at Regionals and a shot at Nationals!

Also don't forget that the ecnl clubs "B" Teams , who are in NE-NPL League of "B" Teams from those clubs are going to attack this new league as they were the ones harping all along that non-ecnl clubs were going to be left out and left behind with no strong competitive league and now they see it is they who may be left holding the "B" Bag and Tag.

Anonymous said...

Classics only wanted to do state cup and tournaments in the spring.

Do you know what you are talking about??

Nope

These teams get plenty of strong competition without being ECNL

No weepin or worryin.....

Might be even more so if a certain ECNL accepted some offers for friendlies.

10:46 no one ever attacked the league. I don't understand what business NPL teams have in this Individual Team League. All they are doing is taking sports away from Individual Teams. This is NOT a club model league. NPL teams entering goes against the club model and makes me wonder what is the goal of the team? Is it truly to benefit the team or is it something else?

The only one attacking is you. We need two landscapes in Soccer - One for the Strong Clubs and one for the Strong Individual Teams (like PA Strikers).

Anonymous said...

7:41 here - The Region 1 website has not been updated. So to me those flight's are not final.

Anonymous said...

Region 1 will be 10 games, with 5 in spring and 5 in fall

Take relegation worry lightly - as I am sure there will be more applicants second time through and that will change the divisions - not saying that a Penn Legacy wouldnt automatically be moved up should they win everything in D2,

Anonymous said...

10:52 Curious why would the NorthEast NPL attack Region 1 Champions League? Your NON-ECNL claim holds no water. They are NPL and in the same Division as

NYSC, STA, NJ Crush, PSWSI, Virginia Rush, NEFC, Oakwood, Seacoast, Nj Wildcats, NJCSA, LVU, TSF and SJEB to name a few. These are all NON-ECNL teams and some will be at the same event playing for that same "bag" as you call it.

I'm not sure I follow your attack on NorthEast NPL - unless of course you are a coach/manager and is trying to make a play for some players. I get the entire "B" team attack then, why play for B teams when you can play for an A team playing in an equal league to ECNL. I get that.

Anonymous said...

11:09 I like the Spring and Fall concept for 2015. The only thing I don't understand is how they will handle tryouts and team rosters anyone familiar with this like to share - to lazy to read the site now?

Will these teams eventually hold tryouts in Feb/March prior to the start of the Region 1 CL forcing the girls looking to move from ECNL/NPL teams to make the commitment before ECNL/NPL tryouts?

Anonymous said...

So if these are the flights - my prediction

Girls U13 Division 1 Blue
1. BRYC 01 ELITE (VA)
2. PWSI COURAGE 01G RED (VA)
3. 1776 UNITED FC XTREMES (PAE)
4. LOUDOUN SOCCER 01 G RED (VA)
5. CENTURY V 0102 ELITE (PAW)
6. VICTORY EXPRESS SC PLATINUM (PAW)

Division 1 Red
1. SOUTH SHORE SELECT U13 ELITE (MA)
2. NJ WILDCATS AVERBUCH (NJ)
3. GREATER BINGHAMTON FC 01 SELECT (NYW)
4. UKRAINIAN NATIONALS BLASTERS BLACK (PAE)
5. DELAWARE RUSH '01 GIRLS (DE)
6. NORDIC SC 13 PREMIER GIRLS (VT)

So the winner of each flight 10 games (5 home away games) will play each other for a trip to the 2016 Region 1 Championships next year ONLY. I guess I'm asking will the winner also get a spot in the National League?

Anonymous said...

Hey Region 1 teams,

Good luck with the Wildcat parents. They will now spew their venom on you. They first will build you up on the blog to show how great and deep the league is. They did the same thing in EDP. Then they will attack.

They are all yours!

I can see the New England Premiership, EDP, WAGS and even PAGS become Premier Leagues sending their champion to a National event. These league will have to pick a side as players leave from teams playing in ECNL/NPL/Region1.

From reg 1 website:

"Division 1 of champions League is for the top 32 teams throughout the region.

Maybe we should have taken those words "lightly" as well. Look at the rankings of these teams. Not even close. Sorry if we can't trust them to bracket teams correctly, why should we trust them to "do the right thing" and promote our team earlier than their website says( sometime in 2016). They need to prove they have their act together and bracket these teams properly according to skill, if they can't do that, I don't know why some of those teams would even play. 8 hrs round trip to play a team we can beat 8-0?!? What good does that do anyone? Could find much more productive uses for our time and $.

Hey 11:42... Give it. Rest. Enough about the Wildcats. If you have the balls go up to a Wildcat parent when you see them and say something. Something tells me you won't. Too bad. I would actually go watch a Wildcat game to see you do that. Talk soccer or get off and give us a rest. I am so Wildcated out if that is even a word. Sorry but I had to vent.

1- ECNL will still be top league by far come U14. Sorry but just the truth. Proven track recored here year after year starting at U14....

2- this new region 1 league will be on same level as the NE NPL. Call them B teams all you want, these teams after mixing in talent next year, will be playing at same level.

3- the region 1 league is a great option for non ECNL clubs but please keep the talent level in perspective.

3:40 How can you say a relatively new league like ecnl is proven year after year and it will never change.
the only thing that recent history in youth soccer has proven, on both the girls and boys side, is that the ONLY thing that is consistent is that it DOES change and there are new ideas and leagues/organizations every few years.
To try and claim ECNL is going to be the standard from now on is clearly disingenuous, unless you are purposely trying to blow smoke.

Anonymous said...

12:44 Nice post.. Merry Christmas to all those that celebrate...

Anonymous said...

Why does everyone say non-ECNL - the NPL clubs are non-ECNL and don't need Region 1. They have NPL and NPL is a great concept.

Anonymous said...

I'll leave you with this.

It is not about the leagues but about the company of clubs that band together that move to a league collectively.

Don't pat attention to the league. if all the clubs from the ecnl decided tomorrow to move to Region 1 then region1 would be the place to be.

Sounds pretty obvious right.

I would not say that I want my daughter to play with the ECNL but would like my daughter's club and team to play with and around the top clubs in the nation.

PDA
Stars of mass
Penn Fusion
Texas club
California Clubs
Michigan Hawks .

etc, etc

Right now these clubs are collectively in the ECNL.

So that is where I would personally want my daughter to play.

People are concentrating too much on the league and not the collection of clubs that compete.

Anonymous said...

There are many other clubs not on the list that are excellent.
It's the coach and trainer on the specific team that your daughter plays for that is the most important factor that will impact her development.
Not the letters on the front of her jersey.

Anonymous said...

Merry Christmas and congrats to the ENCL parents and players for playing in league that tries and puts forth effort in order to be better. So disappointed with Mr. McCoy and Region 1 staff not doing a little homework on their teams, and throwing teams together without any thought. Looks like somebody had a hat available and just threw them all in there, pulled them out over a beer or two. I have put down the ENCL many times in the past, my mistake.

So 5:12 take that back or I will go to war with 7:38 and have a "shill off" even if he/she isn't a shill and you won't like that very much.

Anonymous said...

Your right only a parent can be a Shill for them because a Shill works for free to promote their business and only a star struck parent would do that.
7:38 is so shameless he must be an actual paid employee of the club.

9:28 or any others that believe the league does mean a lot. What do you think happens if the USSF backs the ECNL as a true Girls DA? If it doesn't and it comes up with it's own, well you can expect that to become the new hot ticket of course. But what if USSF backs ECNL? Will you still hate ECNL? Of course not because then ECNL becomes what I've posted all along "ECNL vs ODP" not ECNL vs Non-ECNL clubs as some of you like to make it out. But that's just my opinion.

"
U.S. Soccer will announce a number of plans specific to Women's National Team programming in January.

I think the NWSL will need a reserve league and an Academy league.

The reserve league is easy - they can just enter teams in the W-League or WPSL or the ECNL u23 League.

They can also field academy teams in the ECNL. It would be much easier to add 10 new clubs to the existing ECNL then create a new system. But then again I would imagine the USSF would want some hands on.

Anonymous said...

I have one more crazy scenario. What if Sky Blue enters ECNL - I would imagine all the top players going to play for them. How much would PDA and MF be able to compete with them if they were free also? Could they? If you had 3 ECNL Clubs offering free soccer for their A teams - what would that do for Youth Soccer in NJ?

Do individual teams still stay strong or do the non-ECNL kids then seek out NPL clubs to play in a similar system?

Keep this to NJ, since PA and NY do not have NWSL teams.

Washington Spirit and MD/VA clubs would be a similar question.

Anonymous said...

Hey how about if they make the W-league Franchises the DA Youth Clubs/.
As far as matchfit they were ejected from the DA on the boys side for not being able to provide free play teams, how would they be the club chosen on the girls DA side if it comes about?

Anonymous said...

12:51 What you say is interesting. The NWSL would need their franchises in and W-League makes sense which bring the USL and it's Super Y back into the conversation. This is also a league that's been around for a while.

Happy Holidays to All.

An interesting video about development.

Many parents believe somehow that just because you play a direct game, the team doesn't have to possess the ball. This is very far from the truth.

In any style your team decides to play in, you can judge your training by your possession tactics.

Possession does not mean Barca Style. it simply means that the kids possess enough skill on the ball to play in the system that is dictated by your coach.

The video outlines what a team looks like that is able to possess the ball and play in any style vs a group that has trouble holding on to the ball.

Its pretty easy to see if you do not confuse possession with only one style of play.

Judge for yourself, if your trainer/coach is doing a good job in training your girls.

And please don't use this video to bash other teams. It was not meant for that, but it is posted so that you can judge your team and trainer for yourself. After all an educated consumer makes better choices.

Soccer Nut

Anonymous said...

S Nut be care full with your posts and using Top Drawer you might be called a shill for that, trust me it happens.

What do you think will happen in January? Do you think the MLS relationship with USL Pro help the USL Super Y when it comes to the NWSL clubs setting up academies? or do you think they will back ECNL as a full DA for girls. This decision come January will have every ting to do with development going forward.

Tuition free teams will attract the best players around and then you will see development.

What happens to the strong individual teams with great coaches if this happens. This can be a game changer.

ECNL, USL or new USSF DA like I said anyone of these 3 are game changers and our kids will benefit from this at some point.

What happens to OPD if this goes down?

PS. thanks for the link - I think everyone on this board knows that already. Some just like to bust horns.

Anonymous said...

Is everyone that gullable with free to play??? The only part that is free is the $2500 tuition that most of us pay. All your travel and the coaches travel and bar tab you still have to pay. So instead of 10000 your paying $7500. So your trips to Seattle San diego Florida you have to pay for

Anonymous said...

From what you guys have suggested it seems the W-league Franchises are the best option as they already have teams playing for free that they sponsor and have the league administration in place.

Anonymous said...

Never going to happen on the girls side.

Anonymous said...

I agree the Girl side it's not a money maker.

But I think it will happen.

1st College Season will be expanded.
2nd Younger USNT will be formed
3rd The rest of the world are using pros at u19, u21 ages we had ONE - L.Horan. We will need to do something.
U17s Didn't Qualify for Worlds The WNT just came back with 1 win in 4 games in Brazil and that win came against Argentina. Something needs to be done.
4th ODP is a failure
5th NWSL needs to play a part
6th Watch Soccer games everybody knows our Soccer Pyramid is upside down. Didn't matter on the girls side because only a few countries were playing back in the days - it's a new world now.

I can see NWSL using W-League as a reserve league. The big question is the Youth Academy teams, ECNL, Super Y or something New - I think ECNL wins that battle and I think their A teams will be play for free with parents paying for travel costs which they would do anyway.

Anonymous said...

Will never happen. How are Match Fleece and Pda going to extract the extra money from non ecnl team and boys non academy. The Npl teams and younger ages cost would sky rocket lets say $4000 tuition. On the girls side alone from u13-u18 are 100 kids not paying $2500 a year, $250,000.

Anonymous said...

As on the boys academy side there will be some type of sponsor , like red bulls on the boys academy sides to cover pay to play..
It will have to be connected with one of the pro or W-league womens leagues where they have sponsors with deep pockets to cover costs.
That leaves out matchf and pda who are both in it to make maximum $$$.
Here is a question, if they did have to cover costs themselves for all the players on the A Team do you think they would still be pushing for bloated rosters above 18 as necessary?
What if there is an injury?

Anonymous said...

Am I the only parent that is going through soccer withdrawal, I know it's u13 G soccer, but man I am really missing the experience. I know that Spring is right around the corner, and hopefully the girls will pick-up where they left-off, either way, you'll never walk alone.

Allow me to ask an honest question here. Does anyone interact in a polite way with the other teams parents before, during, or after the game? There were several instances this fall where I went out of my way to be friendly, but was basically given the cold-shoulder. What is wrong with talking to the other teams parents?
