Stallions U14 and U15 are in NPL
Freedom U16 is a very strong team
How much of the freedom team is left from last year? One of the dads said it was like 5 girls.
I HATE high school soccer!!
Here is a look at EDP First Division after week four. In the North, Arsenal asserts its dominance by blasting Force FC 7-0. Arsenal goes to 4-0 with 19 GF and none against. SDFC, which was also blasted by Arsenal 5-0 earlier in the season, hangs in second place. Among the Central Division teams, Rush Grey remains undefeated with a 2-0 win over Warrington. Cherry Hill holds second place with a 2-0 win over Harleysville. Rush Grey beat Cherry Hill 2-1 earlier in the season. Of note, SJEB Rush played its first game easily defeating Haverford 7-1. SJEB Rush will be the team to challenge Rush Grey. Not quite a sibling rivalry, but certainly a family feud. In the south, Pipeline hoses down Super Nova 5-0 and North United nets three against nil by the Baltimore Bays. HMMS was idle. North United retains first place on points. No games next weekend because of EDP tournament and WAGS. Arsenal, Pipeline, and HMMS are in three separate brackets in the top flight at WAGS. Arsenal will take on Loudon, Tophat and Austin Sting. Pipeline gets Levittown, PAC, and FC Virginia. HMMS faces PHWM, Cleveland FC, and Dallas Sting.
Are there any other 02 teams playing? Or are these just the teams from last year u13 that were forced to move up a year. Would be interesting to see how these teams do in the spring at tournaments like PDA and Jeff cup when the real 02 teams come out to play.
Isn't this the U15 page? Therefore 2002s?
11:19 - What do you mean by "02 team" and "real 02 team"? I would presume that teams playing at U15 are mostly comprised of 2002 birth year, although there may be a few 2003s scattered in. The more pertinent question is what class the players are in 2020 or 2021. Is a "real 02 team" a team that is mostly class of 2020?
Really depends on the team...I've seen almost even split 2020 and 2021Same with U16/2001, almost even split 2019, 2020
As a reference was made to PDA in conjunction with a "real 02 team", let's take a look at PDA ECNL U15: That team is about 2/3 2020, 1/3 2021. Considering girls born through August 2002 are likely class of 2020, and girls born between September and December 2002 are likely class of 2021, it's logical to conclude that a 2002 team would be comprised of 2/3 2020s and 1/3 2021s. I suppose that would be a "real 02 team".
1:43 - Sorry but school age cutoff is not Aug. It's mostly Sept 1st or Oct. 1st in most states. http://ecs.force.com/mbdata/mbquestRT?rep=Kq1402
Saw many new faces on the SJEB/RUSH Blue team on Saturday including a new coach.
2016 Bethesda Premier Cup accepted teams are out. No surprises.
Einstein at 1:43 - What do you think "through August" means? Most literate people understand through to mean to the end of the month, or August 31st, which is effectively the same as September 1st when considering cutoff dates.
I also cannot stand high school soccer. These ladies are 16/17 years old. How do they consistently kick the ball out of bounds under pressure. When do these girls learn to pass back to keeper or switch fields, we have been doing that since U12 at the very least in our club, and my daughter is a freshman? It sickens me and should sicken the soccer world in general. We are in a smaller division in our High School, so maybe this is not common? Also how about distributing from the keeper and keeping possession, is it only punts, is that all they ever do and hope to win the 50/50? Those two things are maddening, sure you punt once in a while, I get that. But to pass back to a defender, who can then can pass up and create opportunity
My daughter passed back to the keeper and her HS coach went ballistic. She was told never to do that again, only very good teams can do that. Don't expect much from HS Soccer.
3:29 and 4:38 unfortunately my experience is the same. Few HS coaches are even qualified - public or private. It is painful to watch and worse is my daughter is playing down to it.
School ball season can't end soon enough....The issue with a pass back in high school soccer is that it is very often used by weaker players that aren't attack mindedMany coaches, however, do not understand the value in a pass back that can very often draw players out and open up space
At least in Southeastern PA, HS soccer is rather high quality and some teams are rather difficult to make with many rostering few if any freshman on varsity. It's entertaining watching the PF, CFC, PAC, FCB, LVU, LDC, HMMS and other well known club players pitted against each other, particularly when club teammates go against each other as HS rivals. It's also interesting to see who the impact players are in the HS game. A few highly touted club players have been shut down this season while lesser knowns have stepped up.
High school ball is about memories built with your classmates so you can bond, nothing more. Most AD's don't understand sophisticated soccer so they over schedule them for games and practices. I was ready for it to end about a week into it (and our team is good). As far as the girls that just kick out the ball, there are teams (including in SE PA) that have kids on the team that don't play soccer outside of school. So, they simply don't understand how to look up the field for the counter. And, the amount of shots taken 18 yds out is just astounding. It's like they look down at the line and just gotta get rid of the ball. Just a waste of possession, but they don't understand and just won't. Again, it's high school. Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed. As far as the back passes, I have seen our kids send them with keeper saying don't (as there was a girl right there) and they do it anyway. Luckily our keeper is very good and knows how to play with her feet. My beef is the refing. We get retirees it appears, mostly. No way they are keeping up with the play. They have their oxygen tanks in their cars and need them. Horrible.
Oh forgot to add, the reason it is horrible for the older refs to be involved is that they allow TOO much physical contact. I have seen at least two games where girls should have been given red cards. Cheap plays that have injured kids. Not even a warning. The refs should be held accountable (and I mean fined, suspended or more) when that happens. It's their job to control the game.
out of all the above posts, I took one solid thing. My daughter is playing down. You have to to adapt to the situation. That is almost the worst part. Playing with inferior players is a killer. Lets be honest.
Gives her a good chance to show leadership, even some teaching skills.Of course some girls wot take to it well, but the good could outweigh the bad.HS ball imperfect - to say the least?OK, we are going to play anyway - lets try to make something positive of it.One word of advice - keep your daughter's behaviors in check. Calm acceptance often rules over outward shows of frustration.@prayingfordaughter'shealthlikeevryoneelse
9:19That is probably because it's a different game. One that a good club player isn't used to. It's sloppy and most just dump it up top. Possession goes out the window. Too many players are selfish and because of this great scoring opportunities are missed. I know we are all anxiously awaiting it to end in my household.
Here is the latest NSCAA high school girls soccer rankings for PA and NJ:1 Northern Highlands (Allendale, N.J.) 9-0-0 2 Pennsbury (Fairless Hills, Pa.) 6-0-0 3 Norwin (Irwin, Pa.) 12-0-0 4 Hunterdon Central (Flemington, N.J.) 7-1-1 5 Neshaminy (Langhorne, Pa.) 8-1-1 6 Parkland (Allentown, Pa.) 12-0-0 7 Westfield (Westfield, N.J.) 9-0-2 8 Conestoga Valley (Lancaster, Pa.) 12-0-0 9 Scotch Plains Fanwood (Scotch Plains, N.J.) 7-0-3 10 Canon-McMillan (Canonsburg, Pa.) 9-0-1 11 Colts Neck (Colts Neck, N.J.) 5-1-1 12 Watchung Hills (Warren, N.J.) 8-2-0 13 Manheim Township (Lancaster, Pa.) 10-1-0 14 Eastern (Voorhees Township, N.J.) 8-0-0 15 Spring-Ford (Royersford, Pa.) 12-0-0Some of the early season favorites such as Cumberland Valley, Immaculate Heart Academy, Montclair, and Villa Joseph Marie have fallen by the wayside despite having some brand-name players on the rosters.
We have teams in our area (SE PA) with better records that aren't even listed. Like most of these lists not very reliable. Thank you, though. Does it matter for anything other than being another list?
I noticed the Penn Fusion player is not on newest roster for the U14 GNT. Hopefully PA can represent again soon.
As I read these posts about HS soccer, it's amazing that each one describes our school, no matter what region!!!
12:38 - The rankings have a lot to do with strength of schedule, so there may be teams with better records that have not played stronger teams. It does matter when you correlate HS soccer with club soccer. There is a rough correlation between location of the better high school programs and location of the better club programs, which all goes to the demographics of youth soccer. A interesting comparison also arises when girls programs are compared to boys programs. There are critics of soccer development in the US, but to understand the soccer development process, I argue you must also understand the soccer demographics. HS is one component of the soccer demographics. If you dig deep, you will find an interesting distribution of the PDA and PF kids among the teams on the list.
9:22 - t/y - We participate in a league in philly/burbs that have private schools and they have kids re nat'l team, a bunch of really good ECNL kids, CFC,PF,MF,PDA, FCB and other high level USYS teams (1776, Strikers, Europa, etc). And they play other private schools in NJ (that also have PDA, MF, WC, YMS (nat'l champ) players). Would these schools be a contender for consideration?
10:04 - You describe schools like GA, Westowne, Hill, etc. Contention may depend on whether they are part of PIAA, or truly independent. Playing Pennington is one thing, playing Sidwell is completely different. Likely not ranked if not eligible to contend for a state championship.
Can all the PA guys just go away, call vote for Trump, this is a NJ/NY board, and we (NY) can make fun of NJ.
in other words:Penn Fusion sucksPenn Legacy sucksYMS especially sucksHershey park sucksPhiladelphia PA sucks, as do the eagles, and Phillies, but mostly the flyersPoconos suckRoute 80 sucks all the timeFinally, anything west of NJ sucks...good night.
Thank you. The girls' schools like GA, Penn Charter, Baldwin, Springside/Chestnut Hill, Episcopal Academy, Notre Dame, Agnes Irwin are in the PA InterAc league. Boys are the above co-ed and Malvern, The Haverford School, etc. They compete with other independent schools after league play for a PA Championship (PA Independent Schools - like Westtown, Mercersburg, Hill, etc.). Teams play out of league area PA public/catholic schools and NJ private schools like Lawrenceville, Pennington, Hun, Peddie, etc. Generally the Sidwell plays, etc. are scrimmages or are non-league during the season. It's actually pretty good soccer overall and very competitive. Would these be teams that would qualify for NSCAA?
1:27 & 1:30 - why don't you ask the administrator to create an NJ/NY board? Or just go back into the basement and play video games and eat cheetos. There are others on this board from PA, VA, MA and more; generally Region 1.
3:52 my daughter goes to one of the schools you listed. It's competitive soccer but please don't say it's good. At least not from my perspective.
No more high school talk yous guys
7:37 - chiming in as my kid goes to one of those schools, too. It's good for high school. It's not elite level club good.
@ 7:37- yes it is good and it's competitive as most of the teams in that league beat other non-league teams. So wouldn't that make it competitive as well? Agree with above posted, it's not club soccer, but is is very good high school soccer and isn't that what they are being judged against? Was just wondering if this league (boys and girls) could be under consideration and meet the NSCAA standards. Didn't know they even existed. Okay, no more hs soccer from me anyway.
Not sure how my daughters team is going to be competitive come NPL time, we have not had 1 practice with the 02 team. Most of the girls are playing HS soccer, so I guess they will all be in shape, but tactically we will be all over the place. Our season ends on 10/17, but we might have playoff games, NPL begins 10/23, should I be concerned?
8:28 which NPL begins 10/23 - is that official anywhere? ny npl shows TBS, and only the NYCSL Premiere has a start date on 10/22.
They need to get some games in, so I think the NYCSL NPL league will mirror their lowly cousin.
Figuring 2-3 games between Thanksgiving and Christmas for the older NYCSL NPL teams. Then 7-8 in the spring. Plus playoffs.
ECNL schedules set. And most rosters updated (see ECNL site)Some interesting player movement.
15 girls from NJ were listed for the ID2 camp! PDA/Match Fit/NJ Rush/STA get a lot of mentions + couple of other clubs.http://usclubsoccer.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/GIRLS-ROSTER-id2-Training-Camp-2016-09-29-Portland-CT.pdf
Looks like a lot of kids in the Region 1 area invited. Good to see. Thanks for the id post.
WAGS comes down to a Pipeline v PAC showdown. Both teams come out of the second bracket. Pipeline won the bracket without giving up a goal while netting ten. PAC took the wildcard with its only setback a 0-1 loss to Pipeline. Pipeline easily handled Perry Hall 3-0 in the semi, and PAC held off Cleveland 2-1 in the other semi. Yes, that’s right, Perry Hall in the semi. Despite a negative goal differential and a 0-3 loss to HMMS in Bracket 3 play, Perry Hall ended up on top after beating Dallas Sting and Top Hat 1-0 each. HMMS only managed 1-1 draws against both Dallas and Top Hat. Cleveland won Bracket 1 with Loudon finishing second ahead of Arsenal Maximus, which is somewhat of a surprise. Levittown had no business being in the top flight giving up 15 goals while scoring none. FC VA ECNL was beat by both Pipeline and PAC in bracket play. Continental FC ECNL finished third in its bracket in the second flight. Final Prediction: Pipeline over PAC, 2-1.
I take it you are either a Pipeline or PAC fan.
Thanks for the summation, 8:56Yes, a shout out to Arsenal Maximus for a nice showing vs top teams
Not sure what the shout is for, arsenal placed third in a average bracket. Keep in mind, when the the girls from high school come back in late fall and spring, then you will see some really tough teams playing.
Here is a composite look at WAGS bracket results:PTs (GD) Team9 (+10) PIPELINE SC BLACK (MD) 9 (+5) CLEVELAND FUTBOL CLEVELAND FC 02 (ON) 6 (+5) PA CLASSICS ACADEMY '02 (PAE) 6 (+2) LOUDOUN SOCCER LOUD 02G RED (VA) 6 (-1) PHWM SC 2002 RED (MD) 5 (+3) HMMS IMPACT EAGLE FC (PAE) 4 (+2) STING DALLAS 02G FLANAGAN (TXN) 3 (0) FC VIRGINIA ECNL 02 (VA) 3 (-2) ARSENAL PREMIER FC MAXIMUS RED 02 (NJ) 1 (-3) NTH TOPHAT SC NTH TOPHAT-02 GOLD (GA) 0 (-5) STING AUSTIN 02 (TXS) 0 (-15) LEVITTOWN WILDCATS (NYE)
Pipeline is always good.
Especially when the ref allows the game to go past regulation time....
WAGS Final:Pipeline over PAC, 2-1.
Refs allows the play to continue after regulation and calls a bogus foul/ pk on PAC around 27 seconds into added time which ties the gameNo such thing as added time in tournaments!!!And I have no skin in the game....So it went to PK shoot out
Big controversy with Cleveland FC at WAGS. Apparently some evidence that they over age players against Loudoun and FC Maximus on Saturday, but WAGS tourney didn't penalize them
Wonder if someone can help me out with issue with HS soccer play? My daughter is very good, but a Freshman. She is better than most of her team mates, to be honest she is in the top 8 to say the least on Varsity. However she finds herself playing JV and barely playing Varsity. With teachers kid on field, and others who are Juniors/Seniors, that will never see D3 college soccer, just believe me. My daughter and like 2 to 3 others are seeking college, hope D1 or D2 and will actually make it. But that is it, the others play MOSA or no soccer at all outside HS. Is it really that political. Do the coaches want to win? We are currently in about a .500 winning average, so not really doing that well anyway. I feel if he played the right players, that is 90% of any battle. My daughter is on a high level team ranked in top 10 in NJ, and always has been since U12. So no mistake there. Should I or she talk with Coach or AD? Ask what she can do to get more time? Thanks
stick playing with JV than be on the bench on varsity. kids that get playtime in our HS team are friends of coach or other teacher. nothing to do with winning or development. 80% chummytics.
2:55, thanks. I have been around the block. Not wanting or trying to win is horrendous. How do you learn to win at life in general. I was afraid of that and heard that already. And been warned. She is on Varsity, but they play her in JV. She will not be ready for November showcases. We are training with club, but very little. I would prefer Varsity so she can prepare. JV is rec, beyond rec. I am going to start pulling her for JV games in hope she can get some private training or something else, makes no sense to play JV 2:55, she is really digressing. We are D1 EDP for last 2 years. Hope to be top brackets in showcases. killing her, not me, her at this point of season.
2:37Colleges don't care if your daughter played varsity as a freshman.
Also, don't be so sure she can handle the physicality - and at times viciousness - of teh game at the HS level just yetAlso realize that playing "down" (as you see it) can promote her confidence level and help her exhibit, better her leadership skillsBy the way, my daughter's team has some freshmen that can "help" our varsity as well. Happens all over. And not just with the ELITE (top ten New Jersey) clubs.
It's high school ball. It doesn't matter except for the school and the league. She should just have fun and frankly use her time with jv to educate/teach others the wonderful game of soccer. It will not only make her a better player, but a better person. Learning to be a good teammate is essential in things other than soccer. Her classmates will respect her as will the coaches and the teachers (as the coaches will report her good behavior back to them as well). Season is almost over. She can showcase her skills next year if she wants on varsity. This is a school event. She should share in the memories of it. Good luck.
Parents should never talk to coaches about playing time at this age. Good points have been made here. I know several coaches of top HS teams who are very good coaches, A license big club, college exp, etc. They will keep a kid off Varsity who is good enough in every regard, technically, tactically, fast, etc who is undersized or who can't won't stand up to the physical play of HS soccer. Not a knock on the kid, they just aren't ready physically. Generally by soph year these kids have grown/matured and are playing all 80 minutes.
Admin can you please create a special category for highschool soccer so we can keep this one just for club soccer? Thanks
at 9:18. I am sure this helps everyone one here. I know I learned quite a few points in last few posts. The one thing is playing with JV, which at our school is basically all kids who do not play club ball. So you have Division 1 EDP players as Freshman, on field with some non-club players. That cannot help the edp player once club ball starts. I see that one point as having an effect. But thanks to all. Back to club ball.
So I guess you told her to quitAdvice: Let her decide. But tell her first she has a reputation to protect
Since when did we we start carrying around edp division one like a badge to be proud of? Its still third tier behind ecnl and npl. Lucky for you though next year you can wear your fourth tier badge with DA coming. Trust me I was the baddest yellow belt around.
Edp is an npl league.
4:33 - to clarify EDP has NPL division for selected clubs there is a bracket for those chosen by EDP to represent there NPL tier. You just can't have team play in a NPL league, events, showcases, and playoffs unless you are one of the clubs EDP invited to be in that NPL tier. Just like Northeast NPL, NYCSL NPL, they are all selected clubs to participate. Just because your in the EDP Division 1 doesn't mean you can participate in the NPL division. Like 4:06 said things will change once again when GDA is established - GDA > ECNL > NPL> EDP 1st Division > EDP 2nd Division > JAGS for NY/NJ area's.
4:06 aka BAYB*My Kung Fu is strong, but my daughters Kung Fu is off the charts, id2 was not a challenge, so she was not nominated by our dear and revered club. Why? That is a journey of discovery, where truth meets Mr. Liar, pants-on-fire...*BAD ASS YELLOW BELT
How do you know the 2002 at MFA is Horrible? They lose a lot, but also added some very good players. Looking forward to seeing them play.
So rumors about Match Fit dropping out of DA are confirmed!http://www.ussoccerda.com/girls-da-final-member-clubs-announcementNot there.Cedar Stars/PDA represent NJ
Hearing cedar stars a mess too. World class is a joke. Only real quality DA will be PDA sadly.
Hearing they may bail as well or just push responsibility on Sky Blue. DA mandates are going to be tough on clubs without very deep pockets. Also, demand is lukewarm at best.
I have heard CSA is fully funding the DA. Because of that I would expect them to draw players. PDA will be loaded.
GDA looks like a awful lot of travel for games in many of the regions down in the regions of Frontier, Northwest, Mid-America sections of that map. Flights, Hotels, Car Rental, etc. alone will be more than club tuition, once again how can the unfortunate families afford does free GDA include tuition and travel expenses.
Free travel expense, ba-ha-ha-ha, never in this country. There are too many little greedy hands in that pot of gold. Anthony Travel has a market-cap of 500 Billion.
Other than the Northeast and Southwest conferences, the travel is going to suck a whole lot. Southwest also seems to drain from a small talent pool (south california = 22.8m in 2010).So, it just seems like another 1/2 ass idea, and more likely a money grab from ECNL. If it's about "providing more training" and "avoiding HS wannabesoccer" this current execution of DA does not sound like it will produce a same result as they intended it to be.
Even the boys DA is only really top quality for the teams associated with mls.
937 Agree another money grab idea for many clubs but you know what many families fall for it. I wonder how long this will last until the next and great idea comes along.
To get back to the true essence of why we are all here, any good games being played this weekend? I know the "real season" does not start for another few weeks but any tune-up games to watch In NJ, or PAE?
Both NJ Rush teams (South & Central) are playing against each other on Sunday. I assume not full squads but its something to watch maybe. Eagles are playing the Redskins as well at 1PM, this might be your best bet!
10:02, even when the real season starts, there isn’t much to watch in NJ and PAE, sorry.
1022 It's not the Top NJ Rush(South team v Central). NJ Rush Blue is the top team for the South it's the second team NJ Rush White.
Sorry didn't know their was multiple teams. How many U15 teams do they have?
Any feedback on Rush South coaches? Rumor is situation is very substandard to previous coach who helped lead them to so many titles.
You can see some top '02s play this week in playoff actionWest Milford faces Wayne ValleyRamapo goes up against RamseyIHA faces River Delletc
So, Pipeline, an EDP D1 team, defeats FC VA, a MA ECNL team, 3-0, but EDP D1 is considered third tier to ECNL and NPL? If that is so, I suppose ECNL should consider giving FC VA the boot because it certainly doesn't appear to be top tier, or even so-called third tier quality. Also consider no FC VA excuses for HS ball because VA plays HS in the spring. Not a Pipeline fan, but also not a fan of soccer elitism. League membership does not guaranty results.
FC VA ECNL from what I had been told by a parent had enough kids to field basically two ECNL rosters. I took a peek and didn't see kids I knew from their top ECNL team on the WAGS roster. And, not sure you understand how showcases work; it's not for the win it's to SHOWCASE kids including kids that don't get much playing time as they may not get much time in league play (which is for the win). I am not taking away anyone performance, congrats. And, hopefully your team continues its success. But in the ECNL world, showcases are not about the win. It matters for nothing in the ECNL league.
WAGS at u15 was not showcase format. It was championship.
ECNL = Excuses Can Negate Losses
That was absolutely FCV's U15 ECNL team at WAGS tournament. They played their top players in the club at the age and the same team that competes in ECNL games. They were not as good as Pipeline.
How many club teams play college soccer? The answer is none. Players play college soccer. Colleges don't care if your team wins or loses. They are looking at individuals. The only people who care about whose team is better than another team are the losers commenting about that on this site.
How many college teams play pro soccer? The answer is none. Players play pro soccer. Pro teams don't care if your college team wins or loses. They are looking at individuals. The only people who care about whose college team is better than another team are the losers commenting about wins and losses on this site.Or, perhaps the problem is the selfish losers who think it is only about the individual. Their kids are easy to spot on the pitch, in the classroom, and on the job.
5:38 - sorry, I thought i was on the older girls' group re WAGS - play to play - typical showcase tourney. As you were...
6:34 - exactly. Happened upon here accidently; kids actually in order age groups and committed. But, your assessment of what college coaches are looking for is correct and wins/losses are not any part of it. That is just hardware to make you feel better about the costs. Have fun.
Its a catch 22. If your team does not play well - they wont get invited to decent showcase tourneys. If you dont have talent on your team, the coaches will not come to observe.sometimes you have to play the lame tourneys in south jersey to get them points
Or you play in a league like ecnl where you know you will be seen. 02 and above should all be ecnl if they have the talent, means, and proximity to do so. That is your best bet for college recruiting. Unless your kid is NT that is where the heavy recruiting will happen. Look at the schools at Newss. Those showcases are about getting your money.
Or you play for a top bracket showcase team? Wildcats, Stallions, PDA, MF, Barons? And GFA, Albertson, CT teams, VA teams. Just look at your top brackets at each showcase, that is the team you have to be on these days, lets say U15 and up. Till then play for a town team or something, just be sure to get great training, and much game time.
Do Showcase events still give out Gotsoccer points? I figure they do not since there is no championship game correct. A little curious about that as GS helps determine the rankings for many tournaments.
yes, champions in each bracket get points.
GFA??? Hahahaha, they have 1 good team u16/17, their U14 team from last year was average, and Albertson??the 02 ECNL team, really??
MF really HA HA. 2002 will struggle, like all the younger teams currently
Albertson '02 ECNL will be a top clubDont say I didnt tell you
Albertson 02 Team is garbage. They were the weak sister in ECNL last year as well.Just look at their roster. Not much has changed. Didn't pick up any impact player.
4:39.... pretty transparent who you are.
4:39. Its time you see the forest from the trees coach. You are only gonna hurt your kids opportunities if you are worried only about wins at this age and not worrying about showcasing the kids for colleges.
8:46Calling girls "garbage" is a bit ridiculous, isn't it?And for you to not see how a team (any team) can improve its lot even without adding "impact" talent - with the change to birth year - may be short sighted on your partWe will have to see how the team looks after a few monthsBe well now
Not talking about wins. Talking about the poor quality of soccer and talent on Albertson U14 team last year. Where would they have added the type of players to raise the team to "Albertson 02 ECNL will be a top club" as 1:52 said above. Simply stating opinion after seeing them last year that they were weak sister of their ECNL League and lost to many of the good non-ECNL Teams. And by end of U14 year they were not even a Flight 1 Team in major tournaments they entered. How exactly will you showcase them?
U14 stallions just posted a 2:1 victory over last years NPL finalist - NYSC. You can never write off stallions just like that. Their 2001 and 2000 teams should be solid too.
Last years NYSC u13 team was skilled, but lacked toughness and field leadership. The 02’s from that team and the best 02’s from the 01 team will combine to create the greatest U15 amateur girls soccer team on Earth, yep Earth.
3:35 theres a blog where you can brag about the 60th ranked team in nj. Its called the u14 blog. No one cares about how awesome any weak 03 team is. Because this is the 02 awesomest u15 blog. Beat it.
http://goalnation.com/youth-soccer-too-much-emphasis-is-placed-on-winning/Good article. Discusses the importance of development not winning.
LOL 12:26Where would Albertson U14s have added players from (to form new '02 team)?Uhhh......... maybe from the U13s?You do know how it works, right?
In so-called third tier EDP D1 action, Arsenal remains undefeated and in control of the North after five matches with 15 pts and a +26 GD. They have already defeated their closest competitor, SDFC, which holds second place with 12 pts and a +16 GD. SJEB Rush White is surging in the Central division as they make up games after a late start. They defeated division leader NJ Rush Grey 2-0 this past weekend and have accumulated a +14 GD after just three matches. Rush Grey has a +3 GD after five matches, one of which was a win over current second place holder Cherry Hill, which has a +7 GD after five matches. Cherry Hill plays SJEB Rush White on 10/30. Look for SJEB Rush White to run away with the division. Division leaders North United, Pipeline, and HMMS continue to dominate the South. North United as 16 pts and a +24 GD after six matches, with a 5-0 win over Arundel this weekend. WAGS champion Pipeline has 13 pts and a +24 GD after five matches, with an 11-1 win over WAGS semi-finalist PHWM this weekend. HMMS, which failed to advance at WAGS, has 12 pts and a +18 GD after four matches, with a 5-0 win over SAC this weekend. North United and Pipeline previously played to a 1-1 draw, so this division will likely come down to the North United v. HMMS match in Pittsburgh on 10/30 and the Pipeline v. HMMS match in Baltimore on 11/20.
Dude, either you work for EDP, or you have way too much time on your hands, have you tried some leaf-raking?
You just proved edp is a complete and utter waste of time. What a joke. They really could have had a great super division. What a waste of time even talking about it.
Take a look at U15 ECNL standings around the country where action is underway. There are a lot of lopsided scores and unbalanced conferences there too. By the posted results, some of the clubs should not be considered elite. This is not to mention what is going on locally at the U14 level with MF and FCB.
There will always be lopsided games, there are to many leagues and too much disparity amongst teams in each league, division, bracket etc. But you have to give some those lower teams a chance to prove themselves and if not they will faze out. How many lop sided games have seen the WMT play prior to going to Olympics!
No edp put up garbage leagues instead of doing the right thing. My kid is wasting her time beating teams 10-0 while risking injury And I am furious. . Its a total sham. . There is no ethical reason not to put the excellent teams all in one group. Then they can have the next level in a second group. Winners and losers promoted demoted in the spring. They just want to collect more money while watering down the league. Total garbage.
Isn't all the leagues and youth soccer itself all about $$$'s. It's a business people got over it and enjoy watching your kid play because they don't have many more years left.
Isnt EDP regional?
No EDP is mostly 5 states NJ, PA, DE, upper parts of MD and some parts of NY. So 5:34 it really isn't region as many consider Region from CT to down to VA. With those 5 states there are multiple leagues (ECNL, NYSCL NPL, Northeast NPL, EDP NPL, EDP league itself) Talk about watered down!
And USYS and US Club to add to your list of leagues. And, yes, too many. They should combine several to make it more competitive. But will they?
No, I mean regional as in best teams wouldnt play each other - being so far apart.
Yes, EDP divisions are aligned based on geography. I presume this is to minimize travel. Almost all of Maryland that has higher level teams is now represented in EDP (e.g. Calvert and St. Mary's are pretty far south and east) and Northern Virginia is increasing participation. I see that there is even a Virginia Beach team listed, although it has not played any games yet. So the league now extends from the Jersey Shore west to the Ohio River, and from the NYC area south to tidewater Virginia. Geographic organization of teams is the only sane way to structure the league, but there should be a championship series between the division leaders. EDP does do promotion and relegation, so theoretically, there should be some self-balancing.
942 Correct! Yes EDP's model structure of the league is to minimize travel. There are few championship series as well to go along with league play such as EDP Open Cup that last's both fall and spring season's as well as many of the tournaments they run. If many of the top teams join there tournaments I'm sure they will bracket them appropriately based on league play. That's why it is so Gotsoccer driven to help narrow down brackets and tournaments level of play.
10/17 3:34PM If you're looking for a "League" for your daughter with the very best teams then look for her to tryout for one of the national league teams. Their are only 16 U15 girls teams in the league. Look at usyouthsoccer.org for information.
Looked at the national league. Seems like no teams from nyc area. Again seems like another collection of non ecnl top teams. Im sure no team there loses games by 10 goals. So yes much better than edp.
Well, of the four Region I representatives to the NL at U15G, two currently play EDP D1 (HMMS and North United), one played EDP D1 last spring at U13 and currently has sister teams in EDP D1 at U15 (SJEB Rush Blue), and one has club participation in EDP (YMS). NL is performance based. A team must qualify each year either through NL, Region League or Region Championship. EDP offers a league option above PAGS, JAGS, or even NCSL (WAGS) for good teams whose clubs are not part of the ECNL or a regular NPL league.
Thanks for the info. Rush blue is the only one close and if I wanted to drive that far id go to mf or pda.
The issue with prior performance base method is a team that participates in Region League can be one or two players away from not performing anymore. So a team doesn't perform one year and doesn't get invited back are players going to jump ship to the team in the region that did? Doesn't make much sense and reason why it's a failing aspect of a league. If not ECNL or GDA near by look for a top NPL team at least in my opinion.
Plenty of good teams for you in the area, 1:44I am sure you have your snobby reasons for disliking/discarding most of them.
NL requires roster continuity for qualifying teams. Current rule is 9 players from the prior year qualifying team must be rostered on the current year participating team. Given other factors such as geography, team loyalty, and strength of roster to begin with, it is very unlikely that there would be many open positions for team jumpers.
But no guarantee you make it next uear. So you could go there and soph/9th not be nl. Why wouldn't yiu just go ecnl? Id think there are spots on all the 02 ecnl teams still for solid players.
8:57 Correct especially if some girls will be leaving for DA squads. 8:49 Exactly the requirement is only 9 players imagine with the top 2 players move to a ECNL or DA club, do you think it's worth those qualifying teams to do the following year. Take HMMS for example those players will have options to go DA at PA Classics.
Why not go ECNL? Logistics for one reason. Looking at the four example teams listed above: Closest ECNL program to North United is a 2hr one-way trip away. For HMMS, its 1.5 hours to PF or CFC, and 2 or so to FCB or FCV. HMMS does have a history of bleeding off a few to PF, but much less so to CFC. For Rush Blue, depending on where you place its locus, its 1 or 1.5 to PF or PDA. It also has some history of bleed off from its lineage teams. No excuse for YMS as it is right in the middle of the ECNL breadbasket, but that means increased competition for roster spots for those girls. I do not think DA will make that much of a difference because I am not convinced that it will draw the numbers that people think it will, and it will have a limited number of spots to begin with. I know a lot of high level players who also enjoy other sports like basketball and track, and probably will not be willing to give those up in high school (didn't college coaches used to say they preferred multi-sport athletes?) If DA doesn't draw all of the top talent, will the ones who go DA still be considered cream of the crop?
1159 I am also thinking the same aspect for GDA especially since it's a bi-annual for them to setup teams not just s single year. So the eldest odd year will get most of the roster spots for girls DA.
You mean as much as the ECNL non premier talent is considered better than a top NPL girl?
My feeling id DA given so few spots will be rather hand picked. Mostly from ecnl where Pda wc pf coaches will see opposing players.
Sounds like national league is great at filling in the regions where ecnl cant reach. Glad to see that there is that opportunity for those kids. Isnt rush blue close to manalapan? Are those kids gonna mostly try to go DA?
Rush blue is in south jersey - an hour plus to the nearest DA.
Sorry confused. Where is rush blue's home field? Rush grey?I just looked at the websites of ajeb and rush and its totally confusing.
I see there are many amateurs on here if you did your research you can go to the EDP schedule and look what home field's the clubs are using. Duh!
Sjeb white home game field unassigned. Duh. Who is sjeb white? This club or clubs is so confusing. Sorry i just started looking at this stuff. The amater
I love how many on here are talking girls DA, personally I think it will fail in less than several years there is not enough $'s to support all the fees associated with a DA teams. Those Girls DA clubs will hit up many of the younger age groups to supplement the cost and parents will soon to not fork over those fees and stay with a regular competitive club. MLS clubs support boy's side of DA very much even the non-MLS DA clubs have plenty of funding to maintain status to create free player play. For those girls DA clubs that did link up with a NWSL teams they are in a rude awakening. NWSL attendance doesn't even bring enough revenue to pay player salaries let along pay for other fee's. Just look at overall attendance this past year - Skyblue/PDA will fold in a few years with those attendance numbers. http://soccerstadiumdigest.com/2016-nwsl-attendance/
Agree, DA has a tough road. This is a business offering a product with very little demand at the full price. Only way to create demand is to improve the product and lower the price.
5:11 wow those attendance numbers are embarrassing. I'm sorry but you may be on to something why did PDA link up with Sky-blue, I'm thinking they are also hesitant of the girls DA model and want to keep ECNL as driving force since they are the one of the founding members of it. Just like any business have or keep your plan B.
All of the above is sad, but very true. The economy is partly to blame. although many of us on this board may have decent jobs, can afford soccer etc. Remember the average salary in US is $40,000. Many cannot afford the professional soccer match pricing, parking food, travel, gas, toll expense. Especially women's, many would prefer men's, Red Bulls, Union etc. Almost same price btw to see sky blue or Union. Your girl right now, assuming 01/02, is playing to get athletic scholarship at this point, or at least be able to enjoy playing in college, with hopes of some partial. Beyond that be sure she has great education. And, if the economy changes, sure women's soccer could thrive, but that is really crux of it, unfortunately. You can go to DI matches for Free at most colleges as well to watch great soccer.
Very interesting convo. I'm shock as well at those attendance numbers how does NWSL or some of those teams even stay in business.
Supplemented by US SoccerThe most successful US women's soccer league in quite some timeBuy in or don't, I like the league, frankly.
Da will struggle. But in nj shouldnt be too much of a stretch with 12 girls by the shore and 12 at pda. Both clubs are well capitalized. Im sure mfa would have a tougher time because so many smaller clubs divide up the north jersey talent. But it remains to be seen how many quality teams the DA can field. And if njcsa can pull it together for DA. Feels like nj has a very strong town/hs affiliation and it will be tough for all the top girls to give it up. Da will prob work better in Cali.
215 Don't forget PDA South not just Shore and PDA North will feed the DA team. I'me sure girls from PDA South will jump at the opportunity to play for free if they make the DA squad.
You think njcsa owner pays full boat for the kids?
PDA won't be free
I assume the Bethesda Premier Cup is the first tourney of the season that U15 teams will be at full strength. Should be interesting to see what brackets the teams are placed in. Its going to be difficult with the age changes to establish an accurate placement. Better off picking teams out of a hat and placing them. We shall see, should be an interesting weekend to say the least.
Fully agree 10:44AM, its going to be a disaster. Thinking teams will request to be lower bracketed on purpose. Last years more elite teams could be high bracketed and get blown out since they are carrying over last years GS points and it does not represent the 2016/2017 team. Of all the U15 teams attending who's the team to beat? Lots of familiar teams but who knows what happened in the off season.
CASL12 ECNL teams in 2 brackets40 Elite teams in 5 brackets32 Premier teams in 4 brackets
Interesting that CASL and the National League Fall Showcase fall on the same weekend within an hour of each other in North Carolina. Going to be a busy weekend for the college coaches. Great opportunity to see some of the best players in the nation at both tournaments.
Too bad that the ECNL teams are segregated from the other elites at CASL. There'd be some interesting match-ups if they weren't.
The National League Showcase is Thursday-Sunday so many of the coaches will be at Nationals Thursday and Friday and CASL Saturday and Sunday. They actually spend more time at CASL since the National League Showcase is done three times, NC in early December, FL in late December and Vegas in the Spring. But all the teams nationwide in the National League will be in NC in December. 126 teams total.
brackets are up for casl?
Brackets were scheduled to be posted October 20th, U15 was visible earlier today on the tournament website, but no longer.
10:53 - Pipeline is the team to beat at Bethesda. They have been playing at so-called "full strength" and beating teams also playing at "full-strength". Pipeline dominated FCV (playing at "full-strength") 3-0 at WAGS, and TopDrawer, as biased towards ECNL as it is, ranks FCV as the 8th top club team in the nation. Where would that put Pipeline if TopDrawer looked beyond ECNL? However, PAC has shown that it can run with the pack, so don't count them out.
I like South Shore in the EliteMassapequa a dark horseSurf and SUSA can go 0-12 for all I care
Any have the link for CASL brackets?
South shore and Mass in two diff brackets. One in Elite Red and other in White. Ouch, Why so bitter against Surf Susa?
It's pretty obvious, he is simply a nasty woman.P.S. Susa and Surf do suck, btw.
NY Surf and NY Susa have terrible teams and are way overpriced. Middle of the pack, if that, if they were here in NJ.
Pipeline a nice team playing great. But dont be fooled into thinking that fcv team is the one from the rankings. With byc the dust wont settle til spring. Pda the 02 team to beat.
Please, Massapequa NO better than Susa or Surf, they all have some good players, but at this point, its ALL about building new chemistry, and working hard as a group. Glad HS soccer is over for us, now the real season starts.
WARNING – This post contains graphic EDP talk. If you can’t stomach EDP League, read no more.In the North, Arsenal remains undefeated and in command after blasting TSF, 6-1. The Central Division got a little more interesting with a Harleysville upset of Rush Grey, 2-1. Cherry Hill now leads after beating Warrington, 3-0; but SJEB Rush White continues to rise after knocking off Twin County, 5-2. No real changes in the South. Pipeline over Arundel, 3-0; HMMS over Central PA rival SuperNova, 4-0; and North United, idle. Interestingly, PHWM falls to Baltimore, 6-0; and to Calvert, 6-0. Since beating Dallas Sting and Top Hat at WAGS, each 1-0, PHWM has lost five straight games by a combined score of 29-1. What’s up with that? Also of note, as of 10/18, SJEB Rush was advertising roster openings at the '02 level. Is this program not drawing interest, or are they packing their rosters?
SJEB/Rush is a huge mystery this Fall. I don't think anyone knows whats going on there. Very little has been said on this board about them. I know they have three 02' teams. And according to 10/24 8:25AM their White team is dominating everyone in EDP.
For CASL, PDA Storm and WC ecnl in top flights, ecnl top flights that is. NJ Rush is in top flight, non-ecnl, Red they call it. Then you have Copa and Cats in 2nd flight, non-ecnl, black division. Who knows this year with age changes. FC Copa Lima would never be in a top flight like this, even at a Tuckahoe event. So how they figured to be in 2nd division is beyond me. It will take one year to sort out got soccer.
Can someone post a casl bracket link. I cant see well on what i have found.
WC ECNL will struggle this year, they are too small, trust me, they will struggle.
Must be a disgruntled MF Parent that was left behind. Our girls played MF in a scrimmage. I can say I was not impressed with MF, especially for an ECNL club. First time our players played together and this game was a very tight game.
Thats an absurd comment for any team in birth year change before the season has started. What team are you from? The teams that are playing well right now are the u13 teams that stuck together. We should all reserve judgement until mid spring. Thats when you cam see who is performing well.
That's right, reserve judgment until mid-spring after tryouts are over, DA girls have moved on, weaknesses identified, and replacements selected and invited to start working with the team.
No need to wait till Spring, it will be extremely obvious in the next five weeks.
Bethesda, EDP Fall Showcase, CASL..... Thats over 9 games right there alone. I think interested parties will have a solid idea on where teams stand and just how strong they are. Any team can have a bad weekend, but three bad weekends is self explanatory.
Theres only one DA worth going to thats pda. The other two will be crap for this age group. World class cant develop kids and cedar stars total unknown. Good luck.
Stallions has better college placement than world class.
CASL brackets http://soccer.sincsports.com/TTTeamList.aspx?tid=CASL3&tab=2&sub=0&SYear=2016
Why did CASL create a ECNL bracket specifically for ECNL teams? Let me guess so CASL can dictate and help where to send college coaches. Poor decision!I know of many teams that would most likely run with some of those top ECNL teams in those brackets.
Welcome to showcasing! At least at U15 they still play as a team wait till U16-17 every girl for herself!!
12:12 - Can't risk tarnishing the brand. A few bumps here and there could risk collapsing the whole deck of cards.
stallions has the one age group which came from CRUSH. Please do not give credit to the stallions for this.I understand many clubs take credit for a girl that plays for them for one season who is already committed to a college program prior to arrival. Then these so called top clubs promote those players as their own.
Checked out the link for brackets. What caught my eye right away, MF 2001 and 2000 teams are at the bottom of the brackets.Teams for 2001 from our area in higher bracketsSJEB Rush, Manhattan, Massapequa, STA, FC Copa, Princeton, LVU and NY Surf. why go pay and play for MF NPL? I see PDA Madrid in same bracket. If I was at PDA I would not be happy about this as well.
Sdfc? Cmon. Thats the chop shop of coaches. Shaun kept that group together and played the role he needed in college recruiting better than any club not named pda or match fit. Kudos to cryer. But the repeat is unknown. If he cant replicate his success with freedom then he will be just another one hit wonder. Jury is still out.
Regarding the silly post below. Let me help clear up few things:1. There are no disgruntled parents at MF. 2. There were no families left behind. The families that chose to stay at MF are very happy with their decision and wish the coach and the parents that did leave the best of luck. Some fantastic players and families left MF for WC - along with a bunch of NPL players. Are the players replaceable? that is TBD. There are some big shoes to fill.3. Regarding the scrimmage with TSF, BOTH teams were playing together for the very first time and I believe both were missing some key players. First 10 minutes MF looked very dis-jointed as they were trying to figure things out. Still a work in progress (which aren't most teams due to byc?) and isn't that why scrimmages are set up. However after the first 10 minutes it was a different story - which i'm sure will be debated. I don't know much about TSF, but they seemed to have the beginnings of a well organized team but just don't have enough talent to pull it off. Oh, and their coach was a loud mouth, condescending idiot. 4. No one really cares if you're impressed with MF (or maybe I do since i took the time to write this post...). Good luck to you and you daughter at TSF over these next 2-3 important college recruitment years. Based on my research, and regardless of whether you are impressed or not, MF's track record is far superior than TSF's in this area. Actually, they are superior in college placement to every club in the area except PDA, which many would argue that they are at the same level with.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------Orgininal post...Must be a disgruntled MF Parent that was left behind. Our girls played MF in a scrimmage. I can say I was not impressed with MF, especially for an ECNL club. First time our players played together and this game was a very tight game.October 24, 2016 at 8:55 PM
TSF, their parents and coach are a bunch of tools!
I spoke to a bunch of parents whose kids were on his teams. If you're a good player - you get all of the attention you can to succeed. If you're not, you're given a chance to improve or are "managed out". Parents describe him as an excellent trainer, a demon once a game starts, and then a fantastic person once the rush is gone. He helps out the good players to arrange extra showcases, and occasionally his teams scrimmage against colleges where the girls would want to be seen.If you're in the not-great category - you will absolutely hate the experience, and in most cases your kid will quit playing. His demon side will solely focus on your child.PS. check out his bio on the website to see where he came from.
That is crazy with ECNL only brackets, what if a team in Elite red or black is better than an ECNL team. I can tell you my daughters mid-level team, beat a couple of ECNL teams in last couple of years at tournaments of course. And FC Copa Lima in 2nd bracket at CASL? NJ Rush earned their spot if you ask me. I am NJ parent, so that is where my interest is. The lower rankings on 2001 is crazy, GFA, Roma, Madrid, all buried in lower brackets, I would be embarrassed. sorry.
His demon side will solely focus on your child?Haha, Bride of Chucky??
