My son plays on a 16B team ranked somewhere between 15-20. He wants to play D1 in the Patriot league. Does he need to move to a top 5 team to get a look by D1 coaches? Will D1 coaches watch lower bracketed games at tournaments such as Disney, Richmond or needham? We would rather not make a move. Any suggestions from experienced parents?
If the team at least goes to Disney, that's probably fine. I know some Patriot schools go to more local tournaments too, and those within a few hours of NJ might be convinced to come to a NJ tournament.Good luck moving to a top 5 team. Suggest guesting for one in order to cement a spot later. With tournaments, no sitting out games.
How would a state ranked team at 15-20 get into Disney? That is the bigger issue at hand.
East Brunswick United U16 Boys is looking to add a few new players. The team won the NJ State Cup in the Spring 2013 and placed 3rd in Region 1 tournament. In 2013/14 we will be playing EDP and Region 1 with lots of opportunities for exposure to college coaches. If interested please e-mail email@example.com
Getting in to Disney means your team is either in the top three in a strong soccer state, or you are sending other teams from your club there.Politics and croneyism matters more than team reputation. The NJ teams that go to Dallas tend to do very very poorly, yet they still get invited back.
So you didn't answer the question. If EB is ranked 15th how did they get into Disney?
Why is TSF ranked 3 in the nation but they didn't win any games at Disney?
What do you mean? Disney is in December.
What do you feel is better the NPL or EDP league? Several NJ clubs are now joining the New York Club/NPL like Parsippany and STA.
I'm talking about Dec. 2012. If the team is ranked so high, why aren't their results better? Same with Dallas tournament.
Good question. Very sad to see kids on a Newark team out on the streets raising money to go to Dallas, only to lose every game by a double digit margin. Really wonder what it means if your team is ranked in the top 20 in the US in your age group, and you can't score against an average Mexican team.
Ok I will try again today to see if we can grow up a bit:Any chance of a, dare I say intelligent, conversation without name calling and insults? Any thoughts on which tournaments are best in November? Over the winter? What tournaments are best for early and late spring. Would be nice to actually learn something from this blog aside from people take this too seriously.
Too late for you now, but Disney is the place to be in December.
PDA PELE is going to win everything
curious to know if any of the teams at PA Classics this weekend saw any college coaches at their games. Specifically FCNJ or any other NJ team?
