Lenape, worry about your players eligibily first.

Who are the favorites this year? Are there any teams that stand out on both the boys and girls side?

Holmdel boys will have another great year. Team is strong this year also.

Anonymous said...

At Lenape everyone is eligible. What are you talking about?

Anonymous said...

Manalapan boys will be very tough again this year!!

Anonymous said...

Agree with the Holmdel boys post. They have some solid upper classmen and some talented younger players.

Anonymous said...

Washington Township and Cherokee will be the teams in new jersey this year

Anonymous said...

What club teams do those teams draw from?

Anonymous said...

I say Holmdel boys will have a great year. Still have powerful scoring options and many good returning players.

Anonymous said...

Good luck Holmdel, but this is Manalapans year to shine. Big up top and solid in the back.

PLEASE FIX THE U13G BOARD, I AM BEGGING YOU!

CBA off to a strong start. Not sure if Howell is that bad or CBA is that good.

Anonymous said...

Manalapan showing CBA what a strong start looks like. Holmdel, not such a good start.

Anonymous said...

How did Eastern girls lose to Lenape?

Anonymous said...

A lot of Holmdel and CBA talk early in the season, both having some difficulty as the season moves forward.

No need to point out one player, with 3 losses in a row CBA has to have many issues.

Is there any limit to roster size on hs varsity teams? I've seen 30 boys on some rosters.

Anonymous said...

The usual number I see is 20-22. Not sure why they take that many though.

Anonymous said...

I've been told that in club games no more than 18 players can be on the game day roster but I see more than that at HS games.

Anonymous said...

HS allows more players on roster because it's about school spirit and school pride. They don't all play though.

Anonymous said...

Yes that spirit really kicks in doing nothing on the bench lol.

Anonymous said...

we have a coach in our town that will stand by his senior team regardless if there are better juniors on the bench. at the same time he wont let those boys drop down to JV just so that they can play minutes. Yes, my son is a jr and was top scorer as a frosh, top scorer as a soph on JV and now will have a hole in his soccer resume (the HS part anyway). Luckily we play club so its not a problem. My dream is that if my son is lucky enough to play in college on signing day the coach sits next to him for the photo op, my son will look him in the eye and say, What are you doing here?

Anonymous said...

It's disappointing not to be playing but it's a good thing that he's on varsity, college coaches like that. He can look forward to being a starter next yr. Also, remind him that the HS season is half over!

Anonymous said...

So disappointed with the quality of the HS referees. How many games I have watched, where they DO NOT CONTROL the game and they players are getting injured. Yesterday's game alone: player kicked in the stomach, player sliding into goalkeeper cleats up, player crashing into goalkeeper after gk had possession. It goes on and on.

This is why these kids are beat up and injured when club season starts.

Anonymous said...

I actually think that the HS refs I have seen this year are doing a pretty good job. A bit lazy but are on top of rough play. I have yet to see an injury.

Anonymous said...

One of the things that is a prob with HS refs are the polar extremes on which they call the game. One day you will have a ref as one of the previous posters stated, and they would let most things go and then the polar opposite in which the ref really wants to be part of the game. We had a ref that was so into the game he was over ruling his AR's and handing out yellows like he was an out of work casino dealer.

Anonymous said...

My daughter was getting killed in the goal yesterday. Blatant go for body while keeper prone in air for high ball. Isnt the first job of a ref to protect the kids? How do they not do it. Time and again. One guy was like 70 and the woman on the other side was like 200 lbs. Not able to keep up with game let alone make calls. Its a sin!

Anonymous said...

absolutely agree...protect the keeper. Isnt that first rule?
1 time...accident, 2nd time..game plan. Assuming most of our kids play club and the HS thing is nice, social, etc., but gotta keep kids safe until club starts.
in the meantime tell your daughter "keep dem knees up on a grab!"

CBA peaking, Manalapan cant beat Mid North. Interesting battle ahead.

Don't worry just keep playing because there is still time for the Soccer World Cup 2018 and who knows you could be the next super star for your team too!

Overheard at the Rancocas Valley / Bordentown game last night, a PDA parent telling others how her freshman daughter has single handedly turned RV girls soccer around! Are these PDA parents for real?

Why was that removed? It is ok for someone to post something bad about PDA but not something about RV? All that was said was that RV wasnt any good so yes someone can turn them around and it wouldnt take too much to do it.

Anonymous said...

Ok, PDA/RV parent.

CBA, again!!!!!

I've seen a lot of High School soccer this year and am disappointed that from the highest to lower levels teams play mostly kick and run. It's time to turn over the coaching ranks throughout the state to younger coaches who will implement better tactics.

Anonymous said...

I agree with you. I've seen many games where a defender will boot the ball from the back over the midfield, and the forward runs onto it. Pretty bad soccer. Very different game played in a good soccer club. Is college soccer played the high school way?

Anonymous said...

God I hope not. My sons team, which actually has done well, plays the worst brand of soccer known.

Anonymous said...

Bye Township!!!!

Anonymous said...

4:08 if by "Township" you are referring to Freehold Township girl's soccer then yes. Surprisingly they lost in both round 1 of Shore Conference Tourn and round 1 of States. Did they not have all their players?

Anonymous said...

So HS team has a great goal keeper. During practice goal keeper stops a lot of shots (pks). Coach gets mad at gk for stopping shots and tell gk to just stand there. Now praises shooters for making shots. WTF? Isn't that the job of the gk???

Anonymous said...

scores and W-L don't tell the whole story. neither township nor borough were spectacular.

Anonymous said...

HS coaches are idiots. I watched my daughter's coach beat the team up so badly that they just wanted to be done. they all hate him. he makes decisions based on things parents say/complain about and who his friends kids are.

he had a really good team and made them bad. all loses were on him but he gets to blame the girls. nice

Anonymous said...

I was expecting less parent involvement at the high school level, but I was wrong.More surprising, the coach actually listens and does what they say. As usual, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Anonymous said...

Overly involved parents like these make their squeakiness known where ever they go. Coaches put up with it and they are allowed to continue.

My kid plays on their own merits.

Squeaky parent: Why does your kid play?

Anonymous said...

Why are you at a HS practice?

Anonymous said...

I've never been to a practice but I hear what some parents say at games. They will even talk to the coach after games and give them "expert" advice.

Anonymous said...

12:58 OK Twp parent, but you have to admit that Boro is a bit more spectacular than Twp. Boro wasn't eliminated first round of SCT nor were they eliminated first round of States like Twp. During regular season, Boro beat Twp first game and they tied second game but twp only scored with literally minutes left on the clock. Just give credit where it's due. You'll have your turn next year when all the seniors graduate from Boro.

Anonymous said...

5:30

so guess the fact that I said NEITHER boro or township were spectacular didn't tell you I am not from freehold.

Anonymous said...

5:50 Cover story when people won't admit it.

Anonymous said...

paranoia when people wont admit it. get over yourself freehold. neither team is great.

Anonymous said...

Freehold Township has five D1 players on it and still cant win a big game. What does that tell you.

Anonymous said...

I expected them(Freehold teams) to be better. Our team only lost by 1. No stars, only a few seniors, no D1 commits and our girls controlled much of the game. Could have very easily gone the other way.

Anonymous said...

RV out of the tournament! Can't believe it with all their PDA mids and cherry picking forward!

Anonymous said...

Please, the best player on the RV team plays for FC Bucks, the PDA girls were mediocre at best.

Monroe vs Manalapan in the sectional finals. What is better to win, State Sectionals or your tournament.
SCT or GMC?
