You guys need to realize that stats on NJ.com are often from the coach, unless the game is a "big game". I know that because I asked someone why my son's team's stats were not posted, not who scored goals and no saves. The HS varsity coach does not report the stats to the paper when they ask. The other teams all do and they have correct stats more or less.
some coaches don't even post rosters. it's sad they don't take the time. some coaches only report their side of the stats. my kid is a GK. the saves posted are normally right by my count(give or take a few here and there).
To the poster above: Can you break out a list of separate pages you would like to see for high school age groups? Divided by boy/girl? We are certainly open to adding new pages but want to be clear on the need.Thank you.
Well--I'll defer to other readers as well...but how about:High School teams: GirlsHigh School teams: BoysU17 GU17 BU18 GU18 B Collegiate womenCollegiate men Perhaps the latter two could include the rare U19 club teams, the summer programs run by the pro and semi pro teams aimed at this age group... It's kind of interesting to learn what comes next...and if players don't play varsity soccer in college, do they keep playing and where. This is a great idea and I do hope the discussion becomes meaningful about how to improve the sport and give parents some meaningful ideas on what to do to help their kids play the sport and enjoy it. Anyone else have ideas here?
My thought is that by the time kids get on a U18 team, they either are committed or they are decent but not committed. My son's team is ranked highly, but they struggle to get 22 people at practices and 16 at tournaments.
I am hearing a lot of the U16G coaches are telling their players not to play HS soccer next year. Makes sense from a scholarship perspective, as you don't want girls getting hurt going into the committ period, but it sucks for the social aspect of HS.
Most HS Coaches are also club coaches now. Some HSs in this region are extremely good and there is a huge benefit in playing HS, but if the HS is average at best, better to not risk injury. Winning and/or losing 6-0 does nothing but stats like ecnl.
