CBA peaking, Manalapan cant beat Mid North. Interesting battle ahead.

Don't worry just keep playing because there is still time for the Soccer World Cup 2018 and who knows you could be the next super star for your team too!

Overheard at the Rancocas Valley / Bordentown game last night, a PDA parent telling others how her freshman daughter has single handedly turned RV girls soccer around! Are these PDA parents for real?

Why was that removed? It is ok for someone to post something bad about PDA but not something about RV? All that was said was that RV wasnt any good so yes someone can turn them around and it wouldnt take too much to do it.

Ok, PDA/RV parent.

I've seen a lot of High School soccer this year and am disappointed that from the highest to lower levels teams play mostly kick and run. It's time to turn over the coaching ranks throughout the state to younger coaches who will implement better tactics.

I agree with you. I've seen many games where a defender will boot the ball from the back over the midfield, and the forward runs onto it. Pretty bad soccer. Very different game played in a good soccer club. Is college soccer played the high school way?

God I hope not. My sons team, which actually has done well, plays the worst brand of soccer known.

Bye Township!!!!

4:08 if by "Township" you are referring to Freehold Township girl's soccer then yes. Surprisingly they lost in both round 1 of Shore Conference Tourn and round 1 of States. Did they not have all their players?

So HS team has a great goal keeper. During practice goal keeper stops a lot of shots (pks). Coach gets mad at gk for stopping shots and tell gk to just stand there. Now praises shooters for making shots. WTF? Isn't that the job of the gk???

scores and W-L don't tell the whole story. neither township nor borough were spectacular.

HS coaches are idiots. I watched my daughter's coach beat the team up so badly that they just wanted to be done. they all hate him. he makes decisions based on things parents say/complain about and who his friends kids are.

he had a really good team and made them bad. all loses were on him but he gets to blame the girls. nice

I was expecting less parent involvement at the high school level, but I was wrong.More surprising, the coach actually listens and does what they say. As usual, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Overly involved parents like these make their squeakiness known where ever they go. Coaches put up with it and they are allowed to continue.

My kid plays on their own merits.

Squeaky parent: Why does your kid play?

Why are you at a HS practice?

Anonymous said...

I've never been to a practice but I hear what some parents say at games. They will even talk to the coach after games and give them "expert" advice.

12:58 OK Twp parent, but you have to admit that Boro is a bit more spectacular than Twp. Boro wasn't eliminated first round of SCT nor were they eliminated first round of States like Twp. During regular season, Boro beat Twp first game and they tied second game but twp only scored with literally minutes left on the clock. Just give credit where it's due. You'll have your turn next year when all the seniors graduate from Boro.

so guess the fact that I said NEITHER boro or township were spectacular didn't tell you I am not from freehold.

Anonymous said...

5:50 Cover story when people won't admit it.

Anonymous said...

paranoia when people wont admit it. get over yourself freehold. neither team is great.

Freehold Township has five D1 players on it and still cant win a big game. What does that tell you.

Anonymous said...

I expected them(Freehold teams) to be better. Our team only lost by 1. No stars, only a few seniors, no D1 commits and our girls controlled much of the game. Could have very easily gone the other way.

RV out of the tournament! Can't believe it with all their PDA mids and cherry picking forward!

Anonymous said...

Please, the best player on the RV team plays for FC Bucks, the PDA girls were mediocre at best.

Monroe vs Manalapan in the sectional finals. What is better to win, State Sectionals or your tournament.
SCT or GMC?

Since this is set up for discussion of high school soccer for both boys and girls high school soccer across REGION I, could people posting please indicate which state and fully spell out the schools they're discussing? And specify whether you're talking about a boys team or girls team? I really do believe that we, as parents, have a lot of common ground across state lines and some issues we might be able to discuss with some ability to make some positive changes in high school soccer. Some parents discussed a rather lame style of soccer played in their state and suggested that the coaches need to go. Some parents discussed poor reffing in their state..or district? Player safety is a hot button issue in the media and yet, we talk about whether parents should get involved. How involved and what kind of voice do we have? I very much agree that parents who lurk around the coaches lobbying for their individual players should be permanently assigned to chase balls from the sidelines! But, parents should be able to get together and discuss issues like how much rough play is being allowed, whether or not their state's governing body for high school athletics operates with any level of transparency, how we improve the recruiting process so that parents aren't getting fleeced and players stressed and how about a discussion over ways we can boost press coverage of soccer? Additionally, how do local sportswriters determine all-region or all-state teams? What's fair or ridiculous about the process?

As I understand it, the coach of the team selects the players for All County, All State and other awards. I don't think this is the best way. Other coaches in the league should also vote on who they think deserves recognition.

Anonymous said...

I'm sorry but I just read the NJ.com first team, second team, etc. All State Selections. Funny, but except for 1 or 2 players, nobody south of middle New Jersey is ever selected. It's like that part of the state downward doesn't exist as far as these so-called sports reporters are concerned. It's a shame because there is a lot of talent and these players aren't getting the recognition they deserve.

curious, my daughter and her teammates hate their coach. many have quit because of him. anyone know what it takes to get rid of a HS coach?
