What was the turnout at PDA tryout?
Mid 60s (meaning ~30 new girls).- EE
With that many girls trying do any of you think PDA will build a 3rd team in the north. Galaxy, Crew, New Team?
10:15 Personally, I don't think so. Among other reasons, I don't think they would want to allocate the limited field resources to a 3rd team.- EE
10:15 very true. + having 5 U12 teams would be a bit extreme when they already have (2 North, 1 South, 1 Shore). Any thoughts on MatchFit teams? This age group is a huge transition age now with so many avenues to persue or options to have.
To 10:24I think it's impossible to judge where Match Fit is today, or where they will be during the coming year.I believe their current U11 teams is actually a U10 team with 1-2 U11 players on it and as a team, they won't be U12 next season. The NJX Sol (former Middletown team) will become their top Pre-ECNL team, and depending on how many additional new girls show up, who knows whether they will form a second team out of Holmdel/Hazlet or not. Between all their affiliations and branding these last few months, it will probably take a while to see how they shake things out. Their tryouts for the Pre-ECNL team are next Monday.- EE
10:24 Thx for the info. about MatchFit. How about SDFC, TSF, STA, IGFA, FC Maximus any thoughts on those teams.
So many of those are shifting as well, with alliances and rebranding. TSF and IGFA announced some sort of arrangement for older girls as Valkyries FC (referencing TSF's affiliate with North Jersey Valkyries of the W League), but I don't know if there are any plans to extend that to younger teams. I still don't understand IGFA's business model, or whether they will be around for the long haul, or where they are really hoping to be training out of.STA seems to be turning into an octopus, making affiliations with Jackson, East Brunswick, GJOA (in NY) and Scotch Plains. But to me, it looks like it's really just a matter of slapping the STA name on those specific local town teams that happen to already be using trainers from the STA stable. I note with some of the towns, it's only a handful of their teams which seem to have become STA - probably the ones that had already independently hired STA coaches as team trainers.SDFC seems to be plugging along steadily, but I don't really know where SDFC Rage will stack up next year if they play 11v11. They've been pretty dominant in 8v8, but the pool of NJ teams playing 8v8 has been a bit diluted, and it all depends on how their rosters fill out at tryouts.FC Maximus I don't really know much about - I think they are still fairly new as Club, and relatively small, so you never know from the outside how solid they are. Their U11 team seems to have had success, but their website says the players are double-carded to other teams, so not sure where they are drawing their players from or how cohesive a group it is, or how committed they are to FC Maximus as their primary home.Again - take all of that for what's worth - an outsider's guarded opinion. People on the inside could no doubt give you much better thoughts.- EE
- EE Very nice layout. This is what the blog should be about helping parents retrieve additional info to help make decisions. Any thoughs on the Central/South.
You're really looking to test my knowledge!PDA South: I think they are here to stay for the long term. They operate a little differently than PDA North as far as the leagues in which they play for now - I anticipate that they will eventually play in NE Girls NPL, along with PDA North's second team (PDA will run ECNL team from North), either at U13, or at U12 if the league opens up a U12 division. I think they will probably be considered the top spot to go in the South over the coming years.SJEB: has a proven track record of attracting talent, and training them well. I think they will suffer over the coming years due to growing competition, though.RAGE: Similar to SDFC Rage, they're having success at 8v8, but don't know if that will translate to 11v11 - depends on player retention and additions through tryouts. They too are still relatively new and small, so hard to tell from the outside how firm they are. They do, however, seem to be focusing on growing at the youngest stages, rather than acquiring existing older teams, which should be good for the organization (if they can get the numbers - hard to attract a lot of the very young ages if the price point is more than local programs - I don't know Rage charges they cost). My only (limited) contact with teams/parents/coaches has been good.- EE
- EE Wow it's amazing you have all ths knowledge and insight of teams. Are hired scout for each team. lolWhat do you think is going to happen next year will all the teams at this age go 11v11? With the option in EDP 11v11 or 8v8. I can see more PA teams joining the 8v8 league will NJ teams follow suit.
I feel that NJ's move to allow 8v8 at U11 and U12 came a year or two too late, and needed to come as a requirement, not an option. With the recent shifting of power and focus at the top levels from NJYS-carded leagues (JAGS, Northern Counties, Mid NJ, MOSA, South Jersey Girls) to US Club-carded leagues, there is no longer the chance of a top-down imposed 8v8 structure (which NJYS could have done years ago), unless it becomes a nationally imposed mandate (which would probably require significant arm-bending by USSF to accomplish). Lacking that requirement, I think the optional 8v8 is a nice gesture, but probably doomed to failure within NJ, even though neighboring states do so. The reason for the belief is because the largest, most well-established Clubs have already chosen to play 11v11 from U11 up, and I don't see them changing that. And because the top Clubs are doing it, I predict most of the other teams that want to be considered top flight will probably play 11v11 as well in order to appear competitive. And each year a larger and larger number of players are shifting to such non-town clubs. There will be a struggle in the multi-state leagues such as EDP for a couple years at the U11 and U12 age group, as they have to offer both 11v11 and 8v8 to be inclusive for all states, but I'm just not sure I see the top NJ clubs shifting to 8v8. And as long as NJ teams remain strong at 11v11, and the other states are willing to play along (note all the top out-of-state clubs playing 11v11 at PDA Spring kickpff), I think the 8v8 division will remain second-fiddle to the 11v11 division.Unfortunately, if the above really does kill off the 8v8 options in NJ, it will mean even more heart-ache for town teams, which are already struggling to fill 8v8 rosters at U11 and U12 as they see a greater proportion of their best, and now middle, talent leave for non-town clubs. - EE
EE. Great outlook I think you are spot on. The Top level teams have already moved on to 11v11. Even though 8v8 is the proper way for development it doesn't help when competition is a rarity. It looks as if the NJ tournaments from MSSL are getting better and better. As having an older child playing it seems like those teams from the south and north are starting to travel more frequently our way now. My thought is the college recruits can go to Fort Dix or the Turf Farm to view multiple kids vs. driving to different locations like those southern tourney's?
MFA will be 8v8 at U11 next year.
Can MF even compete right now?
Any updates from weekend play?
EDP site shows Pipeline beat Jackson 3-1. No other scores reported yet.
NJX 3-1 TR
Barons 3-1 over CH
Heard from someone that knows the coach that the Jackson team is dissolving after this season. Too bad. They have been competitive for many years.
Heard PDA is picking up a couple Barons girls.
The Gunners were a great team. They had well trained girls. If this is true then it is a shame.
Hereing the same... A couple have been training with NJX. Some people are panicking.. Teams can't stay together forever.. Some girls need to work harder..competition gets harder.. It isn't u8 anymore...Put your kid where they belong.
Hopefully NJX picks up someone that can score. They need it.
Problem with town based teams is that it generally is like dominoes. One kid leaves and the rest of the core start looking.
Grass isn't always greener. Trust me. Been there done that. If your kid is happy and playing on a competitive team leave her be. I speak from experience.
It is sad that good town teams cant stay together longer. "Academy Style" training can be supplemented at a much cheaper price. Not saying that they would stay together past U13/U14, but they could last until then if it wasnt for the parents thinking that their daughter is the next superstar. Jackson isn't the first nor the last victim of this.
I'm not sure this was a player-driven issue at Jackson.
Here there are a bunch coming to NJX/Matchfit tryouts.... Best move ever.. Most of those girls have great soccer sense. Yes, I agree when one leaves people panic.... If your kids happy let them be....
10:53 - Unfortunately teams can't stay together as you said. At some point your daughter will develop much faster then the other girls on the team (not saying she is a superstar). She may have more soccer sense and therefore her development will suffer because she has to work harder for players that are not contributing. This is very frustrating and exhausting for your daughter. It is sad but this is what happens when teams stay status quo for too long without recruiting new talent. More and more teams are getting very competitive at this age. You have to keep up or fallout.
2:00 you are exactly what's wrong with youth soccer. Why don't u ask your kid If she's frustrated. If she is and clearly above the other players ..time to go. But if she's on a talented team with a few weak spots so freaking what? She's probably happy. Your probably the one who has the issue. Get over yourselves.
No. You need to get over yourself! When your daughter has expressed frustration over and over and has enough sense to see that others do not contribute then you are saying that I should do nothing? They are not 5 years old. They can speak for themselves at this age. Maybe some parents do not choose to listen to their daughter when she is unhappy.
You missed my point. I said that if your daughter is expressing frustration and she is clearly better than her whole team you should leave. That's not what you said. You stated that teams can't stay together because this will always happen with town teams. Not true at all.
Oh. And the next team she goes to there will be similar issues. Then when's shes had enough of that the academy will come calling and ypu can deal with 25 man rosters, limited playing time, and a pure business atmosphere. Have fun.
3:02 - You need go to Rec Soccer! There you can have all the fun you want!!!!!
You need to be committed. They are 10 years old.
Well then you should just play town teams at your level. Trying to beat talent will get harder and harder for your team. You won't be able to keep up. You can always go back to Rec soccer you can get a challenge there.
So you are saying a town team that has strong players cannot compete and stay together as time goes on? I say your wrong. Boy those academy heads love a guy like you.
They may have to eventually move to a better program if the town can't support it( see middletown to njx) but they can stay together.
3:38 a town team can stay together as long as the players stay strong. Eventually at some point players drop off with skill, speed and lack of talent. So to keep up with the competition, which is getting better, a town team will have a tough time to survive.
So if we slap an academy name on her jersey they will survive? Do that may people really drink the kool aid being sold?
"Well you should jut play town teams at your level" why just town teams? My town team beats academy teams regularly. We are happy and don't want to deal with the drama and dysfunction that surrounds us on these other teams.
3:59 Why do you think academy recruits? You may beat an academy from time to time, but a town team is working twice as hard to compete. Why? The academy gobbled up all the talent and in the end it's the team that has speed, talent and soccer sense that will come on top.
You know what. That's perfectly ok with me. I can lose a game here and there. Heck I might even get blown out now and again. But my daughter and her team are developing and winning a very good amount of games . Her coach actually cares about her and knows all about her as a kid. He doesnt coach any other teams so hes always avaialble. And bottom line she's happy. Maybe she won't to to Duke on a scholarship. But I bet she will havee better soccer memories then those kids who are schlepped from team to team.
Why is everyone so angry. Town vs Academy pros and cons to both. Yes ther are many competitive town teams but as they get closer to showcase age the coaches at the Academy programs have better connections with college coaches plus they are better able to get their teams in Premier Tournaments allowing their players to get seen by coaches. If you are not looking to play college soccer a town team is perfect. Unfortunately it is hard for a town team to keep it highly competitive as they approach high school because the talented players that want to play in college will move to an academy.
4:21 Thank you!
10:24 totally agee especially at these ages. Here is my advice. When you start to think it's time to leave, wait 6 months and then reevaluate. The only exception would be if other kids leave and you can leave as a group. Most kids don't want to join teams at this age by themselves. Going with a one or two other girls makes a huge difference.
Wait now I have heard everything. So you think if you play for a town team even at an older level you can't play in college? Really?? The ONLY path is thru an academy? Whhatttt?????
Pease take a glance at U 17 girls got soccer top rankings. MANY town teams in ther including my daughters. Top tournaments . Top flights . Passed on the Kool aid. Last daughter at this age and we will not drink it this time either. Oh yeah and my u-17 is playing in college. Partial scholarship (-academic and soccer) to a d-2 that is tops in her academic major. Prioritize folks. Don't believe everything they tell you.
Okay lady, settle down. Stay put and do what you need to do. Nobody is telling you what to do.
What a turn out at NJX tryouts.... Over 80 girls... Time to make a decision coach..... Some looked very talented..
It was a good turnout at holmdel but remember 35 or do of the girls were from the two existing holmdel fc MOSA teams and about what 16 more of them were the existing NJX sol team. So maybe 25-30 outsiders and most of the sol girls stood out besides a handful. Word is they aren't cutting at of the existing team but looking to just add a couple of the most talented new girls where there is a need.
Cuts should be made if team wants to stay competitive... They will be Matchfit next year.. People will leave if cuts aren't made.
If I am the the parents of the top 2-3 players on holmdel unless there is a drastic change made to the team in the way of solid pick ups I would be looking elsewhere. They can't score....and they are taking regular beatings from all the top tier teams. They just can't compete on the top U11 level any longer. If they are happy being a second division U11 team then all is good...otherwise I would be shopping.
Agree... from what I have seen a few don't fit in skill wise. if they pick up 3 they will do fine...
You people are crazy. Seriously crazy. Go shop at MF or PDA. I know exactly the type of parent you are. . People like you that threaten to leave teams year in and year out and stir up crap every year are a cancer. A real cancer. I thing you should take your little superstar and go . The team will be just fine without you. They will keep the current players and add a few new talented ones and be just fine.
Look who is talking. You are always on here and always blaming other people and other teams.
Just blame everything on MF and PDA. Anyone who goes there or plays for them are just plain out of their minds. Makes absolutely no sense to even consider one of these clubs, it's over the top.
The only thing good about MF or PDA is the coaches will make cuts....people complain about everything that goes on..For example my kid didn't start, we lost OMG now what do we do, why is she playing longer than my daughter...those are the people that need to wake up... The ones playing more are more committed... Never late and make every training unless sick.... Think about it, it is soooo true..... These girls are not babies..... If you want them to play every min. Go to rec. or a B team....
These next 2 months will be rumor and parent frustration central. With the 1st set of tryouts complete for most clubs, and parents talking it should get interesting on these boards.
for the past week I have refrained from commenting on this blog, but have continued to follow it out of curiosity.11:26,you make a comment that is so beyond ridiculous that I had to comment,I have a daughter who graduated through the program and has made great relationships along with a college scholarship all because of one of the clubs you choose to bash. Please elaborate for me why it is over the top for a top player to play for the best club possible, and why a parent is out of their mind to give a gifted player the best training available to them.I certainly hope you haven't swayed anyone considering going to one of these clubs by spreading false and misinformed opinions.I would like to know what you base this theory on.Joe T
NJX tryouts were packed. State champs should have a big tryout. Coaches have a tough job. Hard to see across the whole field, and it was only about an hour of play, but I didn't see any new "wow" standout talent. NJX team has a few girls that are both very skilled and athletic, and a deep roster of good players. Challenge is NJX really wants *great* players. Next season will have to focus on playing as a team rather than a collection of individuals.
Joe's back, oh wait he never left... Hey buddy just an FYI some people on here purposely post inflammatory things in an effort to fire people up. Please stop falling for it everytime.
Joe, I believe that was sarcasim.
Girls playing on three fields at NJX tryouts. Which field were you watching?
I don't think everyone does know that it is.A lot of lower level clubs spread false information to parents, hoping they do what is safe.Joe T
No one spectacular at njx tryouts-but they are 10. However, there was a group of very good players. All playing in middle field. My child isn't at that level yet. But they were clearly the faster group.
Well said my friend..
Just to update the earlier discussion about Jackson, the reason girls are leaving is most likely due to the fact that the Jackson coach is stepping down.- EE
The one person who keeps attacking NJX is the same parent who keeps running around town complaining that their daughter didn't make the team. It's never the kids skill level or lack of development. It's always the coaches fault. WAKE UP its not the coach, it's not a conspiracy. YOUR child isn't ready BOTTOM LINE! PLEASE shut your mouth and STOP crying. Were all sick of hearing it! It's soccer.
Yeah, come on folks. NJX is a wonderful bunch of girls with a lot of class. Just like all the wonderful bunches of classy girls on all the other teams. Let them play and have fun and develop into young ladies we can be proud of. Do your best to hide from them that soccer parents are nuts.
Give your opinion: Rank Top 10 NJ u11 teams moving to u12 next year. GotSoccer doesn't show the true value yet to me becuase many good teams did not participate in top tourney's or in EDP league. This should be interesting and helpful for parents trying out. I have.1. PDA Galaxy2. NJX Sol3. SJEB 024. PDA Nova5. NJ Rush Hamilton6. Jackson Gunners7. SDFC8. Rage FC9. Cherry Hill Destroyers10. STA
here's my top 5,after that is a toss up:1-PDA GALAXY2-SJEB 023-PDA NOVA4-NJX5-NJ RUSHthis is with current rosters, and will change next year as teams begin to draw top talent.Joe T
Welcome back Joe T. Nice to have your presence back on here. Looks as if the Top 5 wont pickup or alter rosters to much. It's the bottom 5 I think where a lot of parents are curious to know about in-case there child does not get picked up on the Top 5. Anyone else's thoughts. North
I didn't see anyone attacking NJX team. Quite the opposite actually .Most were criticizing parents who are constantly creating problems and would leave there because they weren't cutting kids.
Soccer tryouts are crazy.. Call it shady or call it smart.. What do you think?A head coach of a high ranked local club team brings a few of his players to various rising academy team tryouts. He is hosting his own teams tryouts too with plans to replace his bottom 3 players.. is he thinking about moving or there to recruit?
I agree with 7:49, the more competitive teams you play, the better growth and development kids will reach in the long run. Unlike certain, so called "top team", who request tournament schedulers to tier them with lower level/non-premier teams so they could run home to their town papers and brag about their win. Unreal!! 10:20 (EE)...thanks for enlightening us with the information, but no one cares whether or not the coach stepped down or "out" or if girls opted to leave like many did in the past couple of years. The team was better at U-8 & U-9 then now. The team is very athletic and strong, but solely became a kick & run team without vision, passing, or ball skills. And, you can tell by the mere fact that their one time competition has inevitably caught up to them and has even beat them, like Monmouth Coast in the State cup game. But, that lack of progression in advancement usually happens when you have numerous of these so-called "town coaches" that never touched a soccer ball or played competitive soccer themselves. If this is so, what fundamentals are these coaches able to teach their young players for continued advancement, development & game vision?
I think after the top 3 there is a sizeable drop off and those teams after the top 3 could beat each other but not the top 3 very often. 1) PDA Galaxy2) Barons3) PDA Nova4) The Field
Anyone who picked up the Jackson girls?
Sorry, Anyone know who picked up the Jackson girls?
7;09 pm ...PDA shill (yawn)
Tough to compare all the teams against each other because some of those play 8v8.
@4:09 NJX needs to make cuts. Have you seen them play? Slow and not first to the ball. I was shocked at what I saw.
"I think after the top 3 there is a sizeable drop off and those teams after the top 3 could beat each other but not the top 3 very often. 1) PDA Galaxy2) Barons3) PDA Nova4) The Field"Says the Nova parent feigning modesty by ranking them lower than SJEB, salivating at their shot at redemption. You people are so transparent. Nova parents are like Saran Wrap. Transparent and shallow.
I agree with 6:14, Jackson was not looking good. Just a strong kick & run team. There were some girls at the NJX try-outs, and according to earlier posts, some have even been training with NJX for awhile. Parents are probably frantic trying to look for spots. This was the best move, maybe now they will get better training.
Not sure how you say there is a sizeable drop off after Nova, considering Nova tied Hamilton, and beat Cherry Hill and NJX by 1 goal?
Agree, Nova has a ways to go to claim top three.Need to dominate your games and win consistently.
Well Nova is Name Brand "PDA" so they will draw newer talent this year and the coming years so they will eventually overlap and dominate games in the future.
Not with the reputation this team is building. Most will drive right by and go to PDA north or MF. I would take MF and play ecnl. This is PDA south and considered 3rd team or step child.
much like in the north,it is the goal of PDA south to attract all of the top talent to the club in the southern part of the state.no offense to any other clubs in the south, but I consider the Galaxy to be the gold standard and the team that we must compete with in the future. The sooner this happens, the better it is for all parties involved. It is not my goal to attend college showcases that take place at Ft.Dix as it is for some clubs in the south.Joe T
11:33 we are considered stepchild? Why is it then that they are adding a second turf field along with futsal courts to the complex this summer.....and John Jenks will be coaching this team going forward, look up his last graduating team and let me know what you think.-Joe T
The best part of this entire thing is hearing you PDA parents talk up your team(s) your coaches your facilities as if you signed a 6 year contract. For you ppl who are clueless and drink different water to where you are so in love with PDA, PDA want the next best thing. They don't care about your daughter. The earlier you go to their teams, the more likely you will not be there when it matters. Talk all the ECNL you want on this u11 board, but PDA do not develop any if their players. They attract talent (nothing wrong with that) but they want the bigger and better thing. You think some of these coaches have any clue in to run a team? PDA training sessions- Pass- dribble- scrimmage vs another PDA team. GREAT DEVELOPMENT! You are spending close to $3,000 for something YOU can be doing. And let alone many of you crazy parents who drive a long distance for a training session a well trained monkey can execute. This isn't a bash on PDA- more of myself finding humor in how PDA parents stuff doesn't stink. Some of you have incredible daughter with incredible skill. Let me know where you are in 6 years. PDA will NEVER be know as development. Strictly recruitment. Don't believe me, watch their training sessions. Complete joke. If you go at u8 or u9- the chances of you making it to u12 are a long shot.If you go at u10 or u11- all the garbage you talk about favorites, ecnl status will no longer mean anything bc you chose short term rather than long term. Wake up ppl
Is there a benefit to be part of a program playing ECNL vs EDP?
11:33 stepchild comment is the most stupid thing someone has said on this board. My child already plays on a competitive team already and I'm glad there is another competitive team within our vincity that can provide additional opportunities and competition vs. driving 1.5 to 2 hours away up north. PDA South should continue to grow and expand it's the nature of any of these academy style clubs. With the numbers increasing yearly on girls playing the sport comes the increase number of talent pool as well. Joe T. glad to hear PDA plans to expand the facility.
12:27 did you know my first kid went through the first ever graduating pda south class?over half of those girls were long time members of the team,so those are facts, could you please provide some facts to support your theory.I just feel that it is important for me to negate all of the misinformation being spread by people who really have no idea how the process works. And I will continue to do so in hopes of drawing the better players to the club.-Joe T
Top level teams have to cut the bottom third every year. If they do not, they will not be able to keep up with the the PDA's and MF's. They will lose their best talent when they start losing to teams they never lost to before. It's inevitable.
This is 10 yr old girls soccer right? Thought that's the reason why some don't go to big academies. They actualy wanted to be something other than a number. If you want to cut the bottom third of your roster remember karma is a fickle bitch. It will be your daughter one day. If you feel that way about 10 yr olds you should already be at PDA.
I'm sorry but am I missing something? For those of you who do not like PDA, news flash... You don't have to have your child play there. You men act like 5 year olds. Keep this informative. Thank you.
when a parent whos not the coach says they want to draw better players to their team and does so like on this board what message does that send to the rest of the parents on that team?
248 Shut up you dope. Move along, youth soccer has been bad to you.
@2:48Do you know anything about the coaches at u11 in PDA.Tell me why they are so bad? Is it their track records in delopment over the last 15 years? Please give me the facts, this is a u11 blog and want specifics at this age level, not your broad stroke BS.Where do your kids play and why is it so great, just the facts please.
2:49 it is a academy team,sink or swim right?-Joe T
Who you are and what club would add credibility as well......go for it.-Joe T
Any club who has tryouts is looking for new talent over or in addition to what they currently have. PDA isn't the only one having tryouts.
NJX may get not get thru tonight, they have been struggling and really still just a town team who plays much more soccer. They barely got by their old team.Good luck to both teams, the left side of bracket is much stronger. Tsf will be in finals on that side.
Daddy will this next team be my last team ? Hush dear we know what's best for you. Ring a bell?
F.C. Copa Futbol Club "Academy" has a GU11 team that did not win a single EDP game in the fall and had not won a game so far this spring. Is this why they keep advertising their tryouts? Want new, other-team trained players because they can't develop the current lot? My town team does better than them.
Why is everyone so angry. There is a team for everyone. Academies for those that like them and town teams for those that prefer that. Everyone does not have the same goals for their kids. Not everyone finds importance in athletic scholarships. That is why there are lots of options to choose from. Again pick what your kid likes and enjoys and go with it. Some thrive on always competing for a spot on their team and others develop knowing they are secure on their team. There are a lot of years left and things will change. Some top players will still be on top and others will find other interests, get injured or just may not excel by high school. Some weaker players now may be late bloomers and may excel later. Only time will tell. Until then enjoy watching your kids play and enjoy the parents on your team and the other teams. Remember when it is not fun they will not want to play.
NJX won, monmouth coast had one shot, went in. NJX destroyed them the rest of the game. NJX has some good looking players up front when they develop fully. They also have a lot of strong interest and a narrow roster now with room to add. They are going to be a pain in the ass to deal with .
how about telling us the score?
Monmouth goalie is very...... Made many nice saves....
I'm not sure I was a field over with my sons practice but I think 3-1 final, maybe? I'm sure it will be up on cup site
If you lose every game, how do you measure development - fundraising dollars?
Whose losing every game"
Very funny how my post got erased my a blog administrator/ PDA parent. Ill re write it over and over. Parents- go check to see what PDA coaches are working on. What curriculum your coach has you working on. After the session ask them to see their session plan (what they did for the day) You will find nothing of the sort. Drive 1.5 hours to a coach who has no development in their future. "Alright girls- stretch out " 10 mins"Alright girls- get a ball each. Dribble to this cone" 10 mins"Alright girls- grab a partner- pass the ball one touch" 10 mins"Alright girls- get in a line- pass to me then shoot" 10 mins "Alright girls- were going to scrimmage the B team"30 minsGreat development! The top 5 players will continue to develop because their being asked by all the other PDA teams to guest play for both A and B teams. They will also ask the top players on each team to play UP which is another way to develop. Other than that, players ranked 6-17 on the roster- better start looking elsewhere. Parents- wake up and stop drinking the water down there.
why do you sound bothered what PDA does at their training session? why do you care?
10:33 Why do even post if you are so angry. My child does not play for PDA but against them and we are happy and do not plan on leaving but I don't bash a competing club. Did you ever think the PDA trainers don't need to setup a practice's session plan on specific nights if they are inviting girls they want to evaluate and just need to do the basics and scrimmage to obtain a true valuation of your child and others new players coming out. What is the sense to setup a session plan when girls being invited for training to be evaluated end up being lost due to type of session plan they may not be ready to do perform, they can't gauge there talent that way, they need to see them in action thus the resason for warmups, fundamentals then scrimmage.
let's use the board for it's purpose - who cares what other clubs do - we all have the right to choose what is best for our daughters and go from there. Don't like the training or the club, don't go there. soccer is a beautiful sport that all level of players can enjoy. leave it at that. Now, can anyone tell me the differences/benefits of an ECNL team vs an NPL team?
10:33 Speaking from experience,I can tell you that all PDA clubs use the US women's national team skills test as one of their guides. If you would like a copy, you can obtain one on ussf.com and look it up under coaching resources.Joe T.
Predictions for EDP games this weekend?Key MatchupsPipeline vs SJEB (Saturday)New Jersey Rush vs SJEB (Sunday)PDA vs NJX (Sunday)
sjeb vs nova state cup tonight at 6.Joe T.
I am going with...Nova 2 SJEB 1Post us a score Joe after game.
@ May 1, 12:27pmYou talk like you know your soccer but you don’t!Your comment about players being developed at other clubs is nonsense.Example: Messi, Naymar, Hazard, Ozil, Naymar & Ronaldo all started at differentClubs. They wanted to be on biggest stage. They want to play with & against the best. (Sure money is a factor but let’s just talk futbol). So you are stating ManU should not get credit for Wayne Rooney . Even though he started his playing career with Everton.Wake up! Your argument is flawed.Kids flock to PDA because they want to play with the best and test themselvesAgainst teams from other states to see where the stack up.All the top teams in the world have inter squad scrimmages. That’s how players Develop that competitive edge. Fighting for first team soccer.I bet you any ManU , Barca, Madrid, Chelsea , etc… Inter Squad Scrimmages are just As hard as any team they play.PDA is following in the same steps. If you don’t know your soccer get off the blog
Boy that has to be one angry ex-PDA parent. Hell hath no fury like a cut soccer player.
Joe,What was score of PDA/SJEB game tonight?
4-0 sjeb wasn't at the game,my wife said the barons looked great.-Joe T
Joe T,Score of PDA/SJEB game tonight?
Wow! 4-0! The Barons are scary. Nova is a good team. I think Barons can go all the way. Should be great game against Galaxy.
Curious who scored all four goals. Is it one player making the difference?
SJEB beat Nova
Strong result for SJEB! Should be heck of an EDP game tomorrow between SJEB and Pipeline.
Why have a blog when some jerk removes all the good dirt being told?
You"ll never know they keep removing shit
Does anyone know a thing or too about MLU? My kid was asked to join the team.
No,no,no the team has no coach, that can coach. A parent I mean MOTHER Superior that dictates what goes on. A team that dumps and chase . A team that is going no where. They parents should get a refund for what they are being charge. Players should start looking else where to play. Anything else ?????
That's the stuff we need to know, everyone should listen up. Tired hearing about how great teams are. This parent must know something .
Good for Barons, they are a great team! Hope they win it all so that would be 3 seasons of the state cup champions not coming from PDA!
Pipeline and SJEB 1-1 at Half.Pipeline controlling game/lots of chances. See what second half brings.
What was the final score? Sounds like halftime report came from pipeline and no further update sounds like a loss?
Sounds like you are a typical hater. 1-1 tie was final. Actually a neutral spectator scouting the game. Was a large crowd doing the same. Pipeline controlled whole game. Several Barons parents and players were embarrassing with their behavior. Galaxy will walk to State Cup Title....you can take that to the bank.
the Barons are very good, that was a let down spot for them having just had a lopsided emotional win over their nemesis last night. They will be ready to play the Galaxy and I envision a very close match.-Joe T.
@ 9:06 AMNo kick & run soccer will be played at the finals for the fist time in 3 years.
we don't even know who is in the finals yet - der!I take back my "der", if you are implying that all 5 teams left in the race don't play kick and run
Barons parents and kids are embarrassing.Parents are so consumed with winning. There sidelines can get disgusting.Stronger players start screaming at lower ones.A complete mess!
Kudos to Joe T for his kind words and observation about SJEB and being in let up scenario. To the "neutral spectator": Who goes and scouts games their kid isnt playing in? Unless you are considering trying out, which doesn't seem to be the case. The blogosphere can draw their own conclusions.
Joe T, I enjoy reading your commentaries and think you have some great points and information. In this case I do believe you are providing a bit of gamesmanship regarding the Barons since PDA will be playing them most likely in the championship. (Probably smart not to call out your future opponent) In my opinion with watching all these teams play each other...the Galaxy will beat the Barons by more then a goal at least...let down or not. Regarding, watching other top teams play games...this is legit high level soccer (even though they are only 11!)...there were private high school and college coaches watching that game today. Think about it.
"there were private high school and college coaches watching that game today"I find that highly unlikely, unless they happened to be at the complex. If you people think college coaches are scouting prepubescent girls instead of using their valuable time to scout girls who may actually play for them in the next 7 years you are smoking crack, or drinking very strong Kool-Aid. That's honestly laughable. Christ I know former and current D1 players who think people like you are insane.
This blog is like a bad car accident you know you shouldn't look but you just can"t help it. P
"Hey Coach X, now that you were hired to build the University soccer program up, what's your game plan?""We are taking a longer term approach, so my staff and I will be thoroughly scouting u11 soccer teams. Sure these girls are in 5th and 6th grade, But we're hoping to be a contender in 2022!"
Stop being haters... We all tell our kids to dream big. Who cares if we also think there are possibilities for where they could end up. Not worried about college scholarships, but just want them working hard towards something. I would rather that then them sitting home watching tv. If you don't like it stop reading the blogs. Don't try to take the fun out of it for the rest of us who enjoy the banter.
@902 you are so right!CM
NJ Rush 1- SJEB 1
Must have been another "let down" game....
Early evening game scores please?
PDA tied NJX 2-2
SJEB 5Calvert 1was just posted on EDP website a few others from the weekend are yet to get posted
Calvert over Toms River 2-1
Out of the kindness of my heart I looked up,that info for you and here's the email and the DOc name.... Are u kidding me? Really?
Was gonna have my daughter tryout for PDA South. I hear PDA Nova is falling apart. Anyone hear anything ? My kid is an above the pack player but to good for presenty highly ranked town team in South Jersey.
If your kid makes the Nova,it will be the last team she will need to play on through high school being coached by the most respected trainer in south jersey.I hope that answers your question, although I think it is a loaded one from a rival club.-Joe T
Joe T - How does the current Nova coach feel about you lauding John Jenks on here as her replacement? Harsh........
PDA Nova must really be slipping to tie NJX in their current state. They scored 1 goal against Middletown Red and 2 against PDA Nova.
As long as NJX picks up a few. I heard they got one from Jackson . They will be okay until they move to MF. There are still a few girls that struggle and it hurts the others... Some parents just don't get it..I heard so many dads complaining on the side lines... If your child is not the right fit then go to a less competitive team.
So NJX, who has trouble scoring, picks up a player from Jackson, who has trouble scoring. ooooohh now they will definitely be more competitive.
Njx has girls with great athleticism. If they can learn to play as a team and let the ball do more work, rather than relying on individual effort, the goals will start flowing. It will come.
@3:48PM...Going to any other team, particularly NJX, is better than remaining in Jackson. Perhaps now the girls will be getting better training; hopefully from someone that understands fundamentals and has played soccer. Good luck to all the Jackson girls.
does anybody know where one can find the state cup scores they do not seem to be on the NJYS website?
I heard MF/NJX Sol may be forming a 2nd team. Any truth to that?
For the parent that asked , MLU U-11 is an up and coming team as we have recently played them. Missing a few pieces but will continue to improve. Other comment previously made was full of inaccuracies based on my experience.
From what I have heard yes, there were enough girls to make a second MF team.
Any more talk on possible girls moving from teams or teams losing girls to other teams. Trying to gauge the craziness of all these tryout month. Are any PDA/MatchFit/SDFC/SJEB//NJX/Jackson/Rush teams losing any key girls on their teams?
were the rest of those girls really good enough to make a 2nd MF team?
Any news on if the PDA Shore team filled?
Well there was no PDA south until her sophomore year as you may or may not know.her team, the crush was an MLU team that came over intact that first year.MLU was the best s.j. club at the time. When the opportunity was offered to our team,I think it was unanymous as parents that we make the move. The buzz that surrounded the team that first fall at Jeff Cup and CASL was far more than any of us could have imagined. That, more than anything made us decide that our youngest would head over sooner than later. My wife and I knew nothing about the process and counted heavily on our team manager who had already gone through the process. When he would call me on the phone and tell me to do something,I respected him and did everything that he advised me to do without question.Following someone's advice that has been there before is always a wise choice,in my opinion.-Joe T.
MLU Crush moved over to PDA South at U16 not U14 if they moved her sophomore year as Joe stated.
well Baron parent,if you must know we believe in our hearts that this will be the last team she plays on up to college if she stays healthy and continues to love the game.If she is good enough at some point to have the privilege to be invited to be on the ECNL roster or any other high level team, the NOVA will remain her home club.I know that it is being spread that we will leave the south, but that is not the club model or plan.FYI my eldest played ECNL for the north, and remained a south girl to the end.I hope this clears things up for you and eliminates any confusion. As I see things, there are only two such clubs in the state with an ECNL designation,PDA and NJX(MATCHFIT).-Joe T.
correct, with the south and the shore having different nights of training from the north.Any ECNL rostered players will not miss training with their home club that way.
Parents are responsible for raising their kids but the kids should have the final say about moving to a higher-level team or staying where they are because of the friends/school issue or other issues like carpooling. No parent should be mad at another parent for parenting their kid in the way they think is best.
you can say that again :)
Well said 1242.
