Prediction: Galaxy 3 NJX 1Galaxy then to play PDA Lyon for the real U11 state cup final.
Yeah because the state cup that was already played was the fake on. Is there something wrong with you people?
Didn't Big Brother already warn the Cowardly Lyon Dad about negative postings? I guess the club will have to speak to Monika & Paul about their parents behavior reflecting poorly on the rest of the club, again.
Wow the lady with the last commentWe know you are bored.
I've been around the club for years. People like you ruin the name for the rest of us. Eventually you'll be sent packing. Monika and Paul are lovely and intelligent people. They know who the loons are.
Too many sensitive people on this blog believing the pot-stirrers. Come people, read between the lines. Go NJX
Maybe to make things more equitable, pda should move galaxy talk to u12 blog and keep Lyons on this blog. They are both playing up anyway. Tomorrow should be fun and galaxy will have to prove its worth, no pressure. This blog is friendly compared to u12. Some of the sensitive women should read them and see what a real blog is all about.
Hey then you should not be blogging Big brother is watching you!!
Are the Galaxy playing tomorrow?You should watch out for # 10, 8, 6, 12, 4, 16, 11, 13, 2, 9, 3, 7, 5, 14, 18, 19, 1, 22, 17, 20, 15 &23.
Dear Bloggers don't forget if you canto and watch some great soccer at Fort Dix this weekend!!!
Dear Blogger the Galaxy are playing Tomorrow why don't you go and watchAnd report back on how many #s you Had to watch out for!!!
1:27 - making tournament eve excuses about why your team is going to lose? Does your kid know you have little faith in her and her team?
Well I guess NJX lost. Their parents would have been on here by now bragging about beating PDA. Guess NJX isn't the team to beat after all.
Jackson 1-1 vs SJeB. Great game. That Barons team has some really skilled players boy. Btw, we've played NJX for years back to Middletown, always thought they were cordial, whose bragging, I dont see it on here? And I think most people know Galaxy is the team to beat, just don't see them much. But they are by far the team to shoot for at the age group, but those shooting for them are very nice teams in their own right, just can't get as deep the quality of player PDA does. Shame in that? No.
Yes it seems NJX lost. Isn't that just the greatest news you've heard all day? Get a life!!! I'm really sure you aren't one of the Galaxy parents blogging from the side lines as soon as the whistle blew. Lol I don't recall any NJX parents claiming that they were guaranteed to won nor have I seen any bragging. All I've heard is PDA big mouths intimidated by the thought that another team may dare come close to their "greatness". NJX is a great team , just admit it and move on. No one claimed them to be unbeatable. Remember, .... they are little girls. You are a piece of work. Good game girls.
November 1, 2013 at 3:37 PM: Until NJX beats Galaxy, they own the top spot.November 14, 2013 at 7:24 AM: no doubt that NJX is the team to beat this weekend. Only 1 tougher game on their schedule, but they will win out.Just 2 of several bragging posts. Don't forget NJX claimed they lost to the younger PDA team because they saw it as a "practice." What are they going to say now? Raiding other rosters and having players playing up? I honestly do not think Galaxy needs a posse of U10 players to win a game.10:45 you are absolutely correct. There are plenty of nice teams out there. But for some reason when they get ready to play PDA they are no longer nice on the board. Shame in that? Yes.
11:3am - Not a Galaxy parent. Just a board reader. Galaxy has "little girls" on their team too - same age as your NJX daughter. So Galaxy "little girls" are fair game for criticism and all other U11 NJ teams with "little girls" are not? Unfair double standard.
11:31 amLove how in one breath you acknowledge how unlikely it is that "Galaxy parents blogging from the side lines as soon as the whistle blew", yet in the very next breath you say that all you hear "is PDA big mouths". Which is it? Lots of bitter people here.
Heard is was a good game.. NJX seemed a little slow to the ball.. From knowing the 10 year old team they are better then the Galaxy! Still don't get the bickering they are 10-11 year old girls!!! I hope you people don't talk in front of them!!!!!
1:04Wait just a second ... you "heard is was a good game" ... so you weren't there and didn't see either team. The score was Galaxy 2, NJX 0, so the Galaxy beat NJX by 2 goals ...Yet you say that NJX are better than Galaxy. Based upon your knowing one of the teams from a year ago ... without consideration for how either team might have changed in the off season ... without regard to the fact that NJX just lost to Galaxy a few hours ago. Do you people even read what you post?!?
1:04pm No folks like you just talk about them on the board instead of in person. You are instigating and perpetuating the bickering even though you claim you don't know why bickering is occurring in the first place. What commentary do you have about the other games have you haven't seen?
12:31I was being sarcastic when I said you weren't a PDA parent posting as soon as the whistle blew. & When I referred to them being "little girls", I was speaking of your poor girls too. I feel bad for them considering the unnecessary amount of pressure they are under and the tremendous amount of scrutiny they must get because of their big mouth parents on forums such as this one.
It seems to me if they are feeling any pressure and getting scrutiny it's from non-PDA parents who can't handle losing to them. I don't see any PDA parents on here bragging they beat NJX. Only NJX parents defending their loss.
This is sports people, it is competive. Teams will win and lose. NJX is all over this blog and should be move on now, it's over. My advice would be to get off the blog if you don't like it. Good luck to the teams that are playing tomorrow, looks like you had good weather for mid November Soccer. The top bracket looks solid and all the teams playing look to be close, based on posted scores. This makes for the best tournamnets when flights are accurate. I wish we played in this one instead of the maps cup.
Whatever makes you sleep at night. Your poor child
Never seen more hypocrisy. And stop with the accusations about family relationships and little girls - no need to go there. I'm sure most of the NJX parents are good people and the team is very good, along with many others that don't post all day.
Anybody else rooting against NJX now? Yikes! Sad that I want pipeline from md to win. Sorry PDA, I just can't go there, but good luck.
I think today's game between NJX and Pipeline and what appears to be a PDA-Pipeline final will be good measurements to see how these two teams are against out-of-state competition.
NJX set themselves up by talking for weeks on this board for weeks after winning state cup. NJX should realize that 1 loss does not mean they are not a good team. There are going to be losses for all in the future, including PDA. It's inevitable so we all should get very used to it. What's sad is how competitive folks are. The kids or "little girls" as an above poster said, are 10. Does W-L really matter at this age? Heck no. NJX - does this one loss define who you are? No. Your kids are still kids. They still won State Cup. Enjoy it. Will any of us remember who won or lost when we are all U16, including state cup? Probably not. It's also sad folks cheer against PDA because they are PDA and they are a good team. Do we really need this at U11? Can we save it for when it REALLY matters, like U14? Our kids should be enjoying soccer at this age. The parents need to ramp down the competitiveness a bit. We are all here for the long haul. Good luck to all playing today!
Go Jackson! Great job.
The 3rd game for PDA and Pipline was meaningless which is why they both probably lost. Both teams most likely rested their starters for the finals. Smart move by both coaches.
You said sjeb tied jackson but that sjeb had a lot of talent on there team.Just a thought the jackson team must have a lot of talent to tie them.Jackson is a township program remember give credit where credit is do.Clearly you are a sjeb parent.
Go Pipeline!! Thank God to Jackson and Pipeline for shutting this big mouth up!! Every team can be beat!
And were we have a classy U11 parent speaking. Nice way to represent NJ.
3:04. Really? All the PDA players were on the field. Jackson's defense dominated play and they got a break away goal. PDA lost in the finals to Pipeline, who lost to NJX, who beat Jackson 1-0. Lots of good competition at the top. Don't cheapen it by BS comments like that.
If PDA played all of their players, then what does that tell you? How was the NJX/Jackson game?
So Galaxy and Pipeline rested their starters to be ready for the final game? I guess Pipeline woke their girls up in time for the final. Wow, talk about excuse making.
Galaxy-Pipeline went to PKs.
What's everyone doing for winter?
"The 3rd game for PDA and Pipline was meaningless which is why they both probably lost. Both teams most likely rested their starters for the finals. Smart move by both coaches."I guess Pipeline deserves credit for out-resting their starters. Hahahahahahaha
That has to be one of the all-time stupidist, nonsensical replies to a post ever.
You can draw the conclusion from this last tournament that there is no one dominant team in NJ at this age right now. About 10 very talented teams and I any given day, well you know. Galaxy beat NJX, NJX beat Nova, Jackson beat Galaxy, NJX beat Jackson in tourney and cup final, TSF tied NJX and Jackson, Pipeline beat Galaxy, NJX beat Pipeline. Then you still have a very talented SJEB core, Nova is talented, Hamilton is very good and improved, FC Maximus has a good core, then you have the 8v8 teams, Rage, SDFC, IGFA who will be heard from on big field. That's about 10 teams right there that can play well any day. There's probably a few others with good players, Cherry Hill, STA. NJX and Jackson probably had the best seasons as cup finalists an Jackson with a huge win over PDA Galaxy, but they could lose every game by a goal next season, that's the way it goes.
The stupidest comment is claiming PDA lost to Jackson because they rested their starters. What a gracious loser. I guess PDA rested their starters against Pipeline too. Stop making excuses and be glad you faced good competition. Of all the teams who lost this weekend, I only see excuses being made by PDA parents.
how do you know that came from a pda parent? there was another team mentioned in that ludicrous post. stop stirring the pot, it could have come from anybody.
Have you all lost your minds? Do you really think in 5 years any kid is going to say " oh yeah, well I beat you at 11." Be thankful that all of our children are receiving better training than any of us did. Support your children win or lose and stop being petty. I want information from this blog. Not reality tv.
"Have you all lost your minds? Do you really think in 5 years any kid is going to say " oh yeah, well I beat you at 11." Pipeline also lost their 3rd game Sunday morning as did Galaxy. Both teams had enough points to go into the final Sunday afternoon. There was no need to "win" the morning game as it did not affect their outcomes. Both were going to the finals no matter what. Pipeline won EDP in their age bracket and the EDP Cup. FWIW they are ranked by Got Soccer as #1 in Maryland, #5 in the region, and #6 nationally. Not that Got Soccer is 100% objective or reflects true ratings of teams. I think we would agree you have to "play the game" so to speak in order to get a lot of Got Soccer points. The point is you have 2 quality teams who did not need to win their 3rd game in the morning to make the finals in the afternoon. You can say whatever you want about Galaxy, but how do you explain Pipeline's loss? It makes sense that BOTH teams played all players and probably rested their starters. You don't need to win a battle (a single meaningless game) when you are focused on the war (finals).
Congratulations to Pipeline for a well deserved Finals win. There parents were very unassuming and professional. So were the PDA parents on the sideline. Not so much on this blog though. I don't have my calculator with me right now, but it must sting like hell to lose to a town team. $50K paid to PDA by the parents and you don't play to win? really?
I sincerely doubt PDA cares about losing that game. Those girls are most likely going ECNL in a few years. I bet playing non-state competition is more important. Maybe they would care about MF as the other ECNL club from NJ. Other than that, no. I think PDA is focused on the national picture.
Whatever, the coaches did, I doubt that either Pipeline or PDA wanted to lose going into the finals. Did Jackson and NJX want to win more than their opponents in that third game? Probably... as they were both playing to get the 4th game. Looking at all the results it seems like it was a great tournament with lots of great games/good competition. Nobody dominated. All the teams had at least 1 loss. What more can anyone ask for in a tournament? Seems like the brackets were well seeded. Congrats Pipeline and PDA for making the finals. I'm sure it was an exciting finals and congrats to Pipeline for winning. Although I would have rather an NJ team come out on top.
Great weekend of soccer.Well said 1:18 PM.PDA is focused on the national picture. The PDA girls aspire to be like their fellow alumni. Heather O'Reilly & Tobin Heath. Olympic Gold Medalist and current US National team players.
Well they better learn to put the ball in the back of the net if they are aspiring for Gold. 0 goals on Sunday. Ouch.
PDA looked very good, but they don't have a striker. Maybe they should ask the Lyons to have some girls move up. They don't have any speed up front, just pass the ball well in the back.
Maybe NJX could recommend some of those Lyon strikers to Galaxy since they played them.
Anyone know how they placed all the teams in the U11 division this past weekend?
A good article for the kids to read:http://www.socceramerica.com/article/42752/when-they-were-children-world-cup-women.html
PDA may be focusing on their ecnl goals, but not with these current u11 girls. Maybe 3 or 4 of them will be on the team by U16 when it's time to look at colleges.
You can't tell at u11 who is going to be a starter or play at a high level at u16. Yes many stand out already but many things change in coming years, those who get the right training and have a strong desire to do well are the ones who will still be there. I don't see too much wrong in any of those players or many others in this state. Many have bright soccer futures.Enjoy watching the games and help your daughter succeed and enjoy the game.
7:51pm.Even Brazil, Argentina, Germany & Italy sometimesdon't score and lose. What's your point?
Hahaha now PDA is Brazil .....I can't even deal with the nonsense. It's pure comedy on here.
Still eating away...how much money that you have spent and you lose to a town team and some of those players from the town team will be taking your daughter's spot in 3 years. OUCH!!
I don't think he's saying pda is brazil! hahaahe's saying good and bad teams both lose! come on. these are 11 year old girls you are poking fun at.
Doubt that comment was aimed at the girls. Most likely referring to statements that the coach "was not happy they were not slotted with the U12s". And, "coach will pull team if tourney doesn't move team to top bracket." Then team does not win top bracket so there are more comments about excuses for the loss.Give it up. Team was where they belonged, arguably could have been in lower bracket also. They would have struggled with Cherry Hill.
Any good winter training some one can share !!
12:00 PM It's comedy alright! She probably doesn't know what a simple "Dummie" is?Wow I have never seen Wikipedia open so fast! Hahaha
Can we please move on to somethingmore productive. Like does anyone know ofany good winter training.
Didn't PDA beat Cherry Hill at Parsippany?
PDA beat Cherry Hill 5-1. How do you explain Pipeline's loss?
Who cares nobody season is over let it goenough already do you know of any winter Training?
10 year old girls missed pk shots. Good enough? Let it go. Everything that is wrong with youth sports starts with people like you.
First you are talking about Cherry Hill. While they are a good team, based on talent, PDA should have beat them. All teams in the top bracket were talented and quite frankly struggled to score goals. It is the first season full sided and they are still figuring it out. Even the all mighty PDA!!
Who will be #1 in country when rankings get updated from this past weekend?
Who cares? Why are you looking at 10 yr old rankings??
4:13...If you don't care about the topics of U11 girls soccer why are you reading this board???
Topics and u10 rankings are a big difference, loserGo back to u12 blog.
Season is over!!!!
The rankings have obvious flaws. I don't say it to detract from any team, but clearly anyone can see why it's flawed and will encourage chasing points. Galaxy isn't even on there because they play up. Any suggestions for good winter training or tournaments?
Isn't everyone doing futsal over the winter?
TRYOUTS TOMORROW: SAT. NOV. 23: The New Jersey Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP) is pleased to announce the launch of the Young Olympians, a new youth training program exclusively for U11 boys and girls born in 2003. This new program is designed to expose younger players to a NJ Youth Soccer ODP-focused training curriculum led by nationally-certified coaches specializing in soccer development specifically for the U11 age group. Player participants will be selected for the four-session program after a tryout on Saturday, November 23, at regional sites located throughout the state. The Young Olympians program will focus on improving the player’s technical ability and tactical awareness while exposing players and parents to a U.S. Youth Soccer and NJYS ODP environment. The session will conclude with a festival event for all players. To register, go to https://www.gotsport.com/asp/application/reg/Default.asp?ProgramID=23746 or call (609) 490-0725 for more information.
New Rankings are out. 1) Pipeline SC (MD)2) PDA Nova (NJ)3) Arsenal FC Brown (CA)4) HMMS Impact Eagle FC (PA)5) Holmdel FC NJX Sol (NJ)http://home.gotsoccer.com/rankings/results.aspx?Level=National&Gender=Girls&Age=11&Region=&State=
And once again, look at those rankings and the teams that I know, all that can be determined is that they are very good teams. That's it. Rankings at this age are very unreliable. Just play the games, work hard and develop the girls.
What's the difference between U11 rankings or U14 rankings? All of these teams "play the games, work hard and develop their players". These rankings are by no means perfect. But, they paint a pretty good picture of who the top teams are. If you look at the current top teams...several of these teams will be in the mix for years to come. Especially Pipeline, PDA and Holmdel....they are playing the top teams, performing well and well coached.
The rankings do indeed indicate some of the top teams. But the order is questionable. Nova isn't even PDAs top team. Galaxy isn't even included. Jackson is ranked low and they beat Galaxy. And NJX beat Nova and Pipeline head to head, while Galaxy beat NJX convincingly.
As for Team A beating Team B who beat Team C who beat Team A - that happens all the time. Call it any given day or call it match ups. We won't really know which it is until we have a longer track record of these teams playing each other. Most of these teams play each other multiple times in a year. Not sure if there is any trend yet, but there will be over the next couple of years. I have heard a lot of different reasons on the blog why PDA Galaxy (and other PDA teams) play up. The Maps Fall Challenge results seem to indicate that contrary to legend, they can find competition in their own age bracket.... On the other hand, it looks like SJEB easily walked away with the Maps Cup this weekend after struggling the weekend before at the Maps Challenge... Was that matchups or was that any given weekend? Hard to know if you weren't there.
Congratulations to the SJEB for dominated a bunch of B and C level teams!! But hey....they got some GOT SOCCER points. Their ranking should be going up! Watch out PDA NOVA..they are coming for you.
SJEB played all very low level teams/town teams.Last weekend when they played against competition they struggled terribly. Completely different team than last year. They have one strong player nothing more than that on that team.
the competition this past weekend wasn't as good as last weekend, for sure, but I don't care how good any one player is, you can't compete with the teams they did the prior weekend, if the remainder of the roster is as bad as you suggest. Just keeping it real here. They competed but struggled against the best teams in the age group, then rolled over a weaker bracket. Not sure it's fair to call Manhattan a "B" or "C" team either.
The game I saw your one player had three goals and assisted the others. When I say assisted she put the ball right on her teammates foot while she was in front of the net.For an easy chip shot in.This girl was also going back in defense to collect the ball. Its clear to see SJEB is not the same team as last year when you were playing up and winning. Now you don't win against your own age group when there is competition.
To be clear, I'm not with SJEB. My daughter's team has played them a few times over the past few seasons and lost. I think I know the player you're talking about. She is good, but to say they don't have anything else on that team is just unfair. They might not be as good as they once were. But they're still a top team and have plenty of skilled players. Obviously, one player can't carry an entire team against opposition like Jackson, NJX, TSF, SDFC Rage, Hamilton, Cherry Hill etc. Maybe a game or two at best, but not for an entire season. Besides, most U11 teams have one or two players that score the majority of their team's goals. So I'm not sure the case you're citing here is much different than most teams.
While I have to agree the girls on SJEB are not as strong as they once were. They have a decent team for there own age group. If I remember correctly It was only a few months ago that some of the parents on that team were saying they are better than the teams a year or more ahead of them? I think they said this before they lost some of there strong players?
They lost those players in the transition from U10 to U11, so it's been a little longer than a few months. I agree too, they seem to be doing just fine at U11. Playing up to find competition isn't necessary for them anymore.
I think when they said they were better than the year ahead of them. They were saying that about the west team that is 12.From what I understand thats the "b"team for the u-12s.
SJEB has a good coach who seems to be focused on developing individual skills and confidence on the ball. His girls take chances and it can cost them in the back. I am surprised that he lost players going to U-11. Where did they go?
Playing up to find competition isn't necessary for them amymore? You mean because they are just barely competing against there own age level since they lost some very strong players. They could not compete a year higher if they lose at there own age level.
3:55 - They went to PDA Nova.
hey 426,I'm guessing you're a parent of one of those "very strong players" lol
Happy Thanksgiving Bloggers. Lets be thankful that our daughters are healthy enough to play the sport that we all love. No BS until Monday? Deal?
Good idea, Happy Holidays to all. Are there any tournaments even going on this weekend?
Cinnaminson and West Deptford are the only ones I could find in NJ.
Cinnaminson doesn't have any "top" teams. Cherry Hill and Rage Renegades playing up at West Deptford. Who's "Steel" in U11 at WD. Is that a new NJ club because there's no team history and never even herd of the club. Maybe out of state?
Bracket A STEELERS (NJ)RAGE FC PREMIER REVOLUTION (NJ)DELRAN FC UNION (NJ)NJ CRUSH FC FLAMES WHITE (NJ) Their a NJ team based on the website, but I don' know them either.
Steelers were there last year too. Its the PDA south team - NOVA (at least part of it). Steel is for the manager - Andy Steel. Have fun with that one all...
Wait, if their manager is coaching why did they go through the hassle of applying as a different team?
I'm more interested in how they are able to roster their whole team onto this new "Steel" team. Every player would have to be released from Nova then recarded to Steel. I highly doubt they would go through all that hassle. The only other possibility is that the Steel "ID" is just a front for Nova and that they hand in their regular Nova roster at the registration desk. That would be administratively easier.
do any of you have a clue....this blog is sick.....
you people are nuts .
Steel is PDA Nova - at least some of them. Not sure how they registered themselves. They did the same last year.
Anyone have any thoughts on the most improved teams from U10? I think it is going to be a great Spring. What are the best tournaments to join to get the best competition?
Finally, a really good topic! What are the best tournaments for the upcoming spring season? Jeff Cup is great , but the expense in travel may limit most teams. I like FC Delco or Columbia Invitational over Memorial Day weekend. I'd be interested in some ideas for March and April.
2014 PDA SPRING KICKOFFApril 12 - 13 , 2014Boys and Girls Ages 8 - 14
Agree with PDA Kickoff. Excellent competition and little travel.
MAPS Spring Challenge at Tuckahoe Turf Farm. March 8-9Great fields and well organized, but the applied teams will need to be better for top teams to want to go.
YMS EPIC is usually mid May. Good competition there.
Some travel, but not outrageous:Baltimore Mania - Girls - Powered by Under Armour - Bel Air, MD (3/29/2014 - 3/30/2014)
Who is the head coach of that Delran U-11 girls team?
I think his name is MIke Otto he is the boys High School head coach. He just won State Champion for his six time. I think he must know a thing or too about the sport, looking forward to see what these girls will do.
My team played them this fall in the primer division, Delran won the primer flight, They have a couple of descent girls on the team.
7:31 Thanks for information . Merry Christmas everyone.
Delran won the Premier Division of what league? 11 vs 11? or 8 vs 8?
South jersey soccer league 11vs11
Is that a recreation league..never heard of Delran or seen them at any competitive tournaments?
The club is Delran FC, team is called Union. One season in premier division and already premier champs.
Great job Delran Fc.,hope to play you soon.
Great job Delran union. Hope to see you playing jags soon.
Does anyone have any scores from Rv futsal league?
Problem with PDA kick off is it is in the middle of some areas spring breaks - but then NJ has Spring Break non-stop from mid-March to Late April as far as I can tell. Any changes to leagues? Are more clubs going to defect from JAGS? JAGs lost some good teams going into Fall, will they lose more in the spring?
Question from a pda parent new to the game.... ODP or no ODP??? Hearing mixed things.
Odp not necessary, esp if you are on an ecnl club.
No if on A team. Consider it if on B team.
Thanks for the advise.
JAGS = MOSA
NJ STALLIONS ACADEMY OFFERING FREE SESSIONS TO ANY U10 and U11 players looking for extra training during the Jan/Feb/March months. Every Friday and Sunday. Friday 5:30-7Sunday 12-1:305 Penobscot Clifton NJPlease contact Danny at email@example.com AND firstname.lastname@example.org
Can someone give me some advice on ODP and EDP TIP programs. My daughter is 11 and I am getting mixed reviews on whether to put her into one of these programs at her age. In my opinion, this is premature and scouting does not happen until HS. So why spend the money now. She has a private trainer. Can someone who has a daughter that did do the ODP or EDP TIP program please give your opinion and experience and if you would recommend it. Thank you!
2:11 PM: ODP and EDP TIP are mix between many parents but is dependent on how much addtional soccer your daugther really wants to play. If she is already playing on high caliber club it may not be necessary join ODP or EDP Futures and pay the extra $, but if she wants more touches than by far let her tryout. Now the difference between ODP vs EDP futures both are still pay to play for training but EDP TIP's is not pay to play for training sessions but they are girls/boys selected from the futures to come in and train. Both are levels of play where your daugther will be competing in sessions against select players so that is the benefit of joining a high caliber clubs, ODP, or EDP.
Exp tip is nothing you can try out for. It's something you have to recommended to attend. You then try out.If accepted as one of the top girls of her age group its free.If she is not there is a cost.Again either way it's not something you can just show up to tryout for you must be recommended.
IMO, the EDP, ETC, ODP are programs that someone came up with knowing that parents will PAY to advance their child's skill level, and basically cash in on our kids at an early age. Kids will grow and develop, their bodies will change; some will lose interest in soccer by the time they get to high school. So don't waste your money just yet...listen to your children, they may be telling you that they don't like soccer, but you are not listening. I believe that if your child is playing in a very competitive league there is no need for all these other programs just yet. This is my opinion...just saying.
I could probably say the same thing about paying for your 10/11 year old to play at an academy. More than half the girls on these Giant money making rosters won't be there in 3 years. Replaced, cut, but thanks for the $12K!!
Soccer training camps have become a BIG MONEY make scheme. They are all cashing in on our kids and laughing to the bank! Not everyone is going to get a scholarship to college. So all the parents that are paying big $$ to the ODP, ETC and soccer academies out there...beware, you are wasting your money at this stage. For 10/11 year olds you don't know where they will be in 3 years. So save your money; if your child has it when she is a freshman in high school then the high-level training is appropriate at that time.
@11.07 AM - You can say all you want that academies, club, camps, ODP, EDP etc. are all big $$$ businesses. I agree but gone are the days where you can send your 8,9,10,11 year old child outside to play pick up games(basketball, soccer, baseball etc) with good friends. Everything is all $ organized sports programs now from local to academy. Look you don't even see boys walking around the neigborhood knocking on doors to shovel snow or cut your lawn it's to dangerous with too many criminal idiots out there. If we as parents don't mind paying for camps, club or academy programs knowing all well they are participating, developing, and excercising than what else do you have them do besides sit in a house to play on a ipad or xbox all day. Even middle & highschools are cutting out extra activites like band, music, and some sports becuase not enough interest and that starts at younger ages. So if children are interested in something by all means parents should accomodate their child and they shouldn't mind paying for camps, or playing for an above average or high level team. Put the kids in a situation to dream at least they will experience something vs. sitting on a ipad or watching cable tv at home.
11:07YES - not all girls who undertake this endeavor will get a scholarshipTrue also that those who do NOT try will..........well......certainly not.Next case.
11:07 - disagree. I'd rather pay good money now to a trained professional to teach my kid how to play soccer at each age level instead of a parent coach who is reading "Coaching Soccer for Dummies." Its easier to build on a well-trained player at the high school level then try to fix a poorly-trained one.
How dumb is it to have points at u-11? how much more dumb is it to give points for league play? Was looking at the rankings. one team in NJ in this age group is 1-1-17 and still has enough points to rank nationally? Near 100? PLEASE!!!! Points for league play is DUMB. Got soccer has its issues, but this just completely undermines it.
You are assuming that teams are entering tournaments to get GotSoccer points. Some are, some are not. Which clubs are the point whores?
I hear there is a new team forming in the South with a bunch of SJEB , Cherry Hill, and PDA Nova players. Playing time being the biggest factor for the mass exodus from their clubs. Anyone know anything ?
Really, I would like to know more? How good will they be if it's all the girls with playing time issue?
Sjeb girls going to play some where else why?Would like to know more.
Would they be playing at Real Shore Lakewood? Looks like the girls side is sparse on teams.
Happy to see that the PDA Galaxy is playing in the NJ Cup this Spring. Figured they would dodge it due to the tournament losses at their own age bracket at the end of the Fall season. Dont want to damage the PDA reputation with more losses.
@ 3:36 - what info did you hear about this combo team in the south is doing.
Here we go with the stupidity and baiting. My daughter does not play for PDA, but I'm happy Galaxy is playing because they are the best team IMO. Im sure they weren't dodging anyone. Let's face it, entering the cup adds a lot of games to a crowded season and a fair percentage are lopsided. Sure it hurts my daughters teams chances, but it's good to see ALL top teams involved. What's wrong with you people? Add some value. Discuss tournaments, good training options, Etc.
I heard that SJEB had 30-40 kids try out recently for their summer select program. Also heard those 30-40 players didn't even include anyone currently rostered to their "East" or West" teams. Sounds like that might be what you're talking about? Sounds like a new summer team.
SJEB like any other club team is only having B teams or in this case C team doing Summer select. They will not allow any summer select players to join there A team. They only want your$$$$$$$$$$$.
5:51, why the bitter rant? If any of those 30-40 players wanted to be on SJEB's "East" or "West" team, they would be trying out for those teams and not the summer program teams right? They hold separate try-outs for the summer programs and the "regular" teams. I don't understand the premise of your rant linking "A" team "B" team "C" team, "summer team" and $$$$$$$$$ together. My guess is you just don't like the idea of clubs running summer programs for a fee, which is fine. You're allowed to that opinion, but you sounds like a soccer novice when you say it that way.
Maybe the kids are using the summer program as a means of trying to get onto the A team for the upcoming year?
The shortest distance between two points is a straight line..... they should go to the A team try-outs, not the summer team try-outs.
I want to agree with the above poster in regards to having a well trained player at the high school level. By the time high school comes around the the skill set should only be improved on and the majority of practice should focus on tactics and scrimmaging. Trying to get the best training and most reps is what is important . If your child is on a local team that has some really goo players and great training that would be the path i would take. if you can not find that locally you should seek out higher level club and/or private training. The soccer you can get a lot of reps the more technical your kid will be when it counts.
Listen and listen good , if your kid is good soccer player and wants to play with really good kids in the summer programs and really good club teams having a summer select team won't even give kids the chance. That sucks, are they afraid of the talent out there.???
People. This is a SJEB parent that is looking to get a little press on this blog. At the end of the day, SJEB at this age is a good team, but not in the Top 5. Read back. BTW. Summer Select means nothing.
6:10I'm not sure what you're getting at? Summer teams are what they are..... the best of those that try-out for them, that's it.Summer teams are simply players from various teams in the area that try-out for a summer select program to play soccer in the summer because their club team doesn't.You might be confusing a summer select program with the fact that some club teams play in the summer. For example, SJEB's East team is their year-around club team, which also plays in tournaments during the summer. That IS NOT their summer select team. If anyone wants to play with that team during the summer, they would need to contact their coach and ask to "guest play".I hope that makes sense. I'm not trying to be sarcastic, just clarifying the difference between summer select teams and club teams that play during the summer.
1:03pm I agree with you. Summer Select used to be the best soccer specific kids from area clubs training and playing in tournaments together during the offseason summer months(June, July). It is now a pure revenue maker for trainers and clubs, it's like teachers getting extra income in the summer to be tutors. Most high caliber teams play year round and are signed up to play summer as well. These summer tryouts are to play with a mix of players not a year round team, occasionally a spotted player may get an invite to train/play with the year round to see how he/she performs. Look even the MLS Philly UNION have summer select now the cost is $550 and $10 to tryout so if you have 2 kids that's $1100 for two months to play a sport where if your child is on a good enough team find out if the coach will also do summer as a team under a trainer to hire.
Why can't kids play with the best kids for the summer and go back to there clubs at the end of summer. Just think of all the friends and memory's that will come from these teams. No club teams only select during summer.
How many years before JAGS goes under? Look at all the teams that left mid-year.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like there are only 13 teams TOTAL in the JAGS U11 age group this spring. That's 11v11 and 8v8 combined.Wow, the wheels are coming off the wagon there!
Even Tom's River and Freehold left for EDP. They should have stayed. The competition in JAGS is more at their level.
I agree 10:01 SJEB not in the top 5 of this age group any longer.Summer select a way to het additional training while some teams/clubs take the time off.
I see 33 teams in Jags for the Spring at U11
9:01That's the number of teams last fall. Go to the schedule section and change the drop down to spring of 2014. I'm still counting 13.If I'm not missing something they dropped from 33 to 13(fall 2013 to spring 2014).
All of the teams on the bottom waiting to be assigned have jumped ship. Mid talent club level now. JAGS dead in 1 year.
Any updates from indoor state cup.
Wow sounds like trouble on this team? What team are they talking about?
Oh that 9:07 post needs to get removed by the administrator pronto. I don't think calling out any U11 player is called for regardless of coach, situation, or club. A comment like that most likely will only have the coach dig his or her heels in deeper. Maybe its time to move to a new club and team?
Who are the BT Lightning? What does BT stand for? Never heard of them?
Is it a boys team? The only Burlington Township Lightning that I see is a boys team at this age.
This is a girls team.
Isn't this a girls soccer blog.
There is a girl BT Lightening team.
I know this blog has been pretty dead this winter and I think that might be a good thing based on how lethal it got with NJX and PDA, but are we really talking about a sub-par Burlington team?
The coach thinks he could take on any PDA team or NJX team and give them a good run.
Rumor has it his team will be at New Jersey cup this spring, you all better run for the hills.
The applied teams so far. Which team are we supposed to run away from? For much more accurate rankings check out:usyouthsoccerrankings.comThis also shows how the different ranking systems compare. Very interesting!
That is not a ranking, it is a copy and paste of the accepted teams in the NJ Cup. So what is the top 5 NJ ranking?
According to GS it is:1, PDA Nova2, NJX3, SJ Elite4, SDFC5, STA
Got Soccer? Are you really relying on tournament points to determine a better team? 5 of the top 10 shouldnt be there.
Steady there 10:24am. I'm just telling the previous poster what gotsoccer says. Name me a method of verifying rankings logically rather than through opinion. There is no way. An expert opinion of the age group could probably rank teams better than a points based system so you 10:24am must be the expert. So do share with us your knowledge on U11 girls soccer in NJ oh wise one....
Not the above poster, but why not look at head to head competition this past fall? Wins and losses versus like teams. I know that information is not readily available..so I guess opinion will prevail.
I think the better question is: why are you making this more competitive than it needs to be? We should avoid being Michael Vicks and discussing U11G teams like they are warring animals. Save it for when it has more meaning to you and your kid - U14-U15.
PDA coaches, don't forget the players pass this spring before you show up to play the game, jackass !!!!!!!
Hey PDA parents, why is that you are not allow to say a word during games are you force to keep your mouth shut by your coach or did you sign some type of contract????
What do you want the PDA parents to say?
@ 7:18PM ....How about this one."Check the score board" :-(
I did. Galaxy lost to Pipeline and a town team at Fort Dix. Good Luck in the NJ cup. Thank goodness you got an easy draw until the Semi-Finals.
7:30, whats wrong with you? Why the sarcasm? You are speaking about 10 and 11 year old girls soccer team. Take a step back.
8:55, the above poster apparently has zero faith in his or her daughter's team if he or she is focused on Galaxy's path. I guess the excuses of why the kid's team lost to Galaxy is occurring before anyone can even start outside training. In sum, the poster is a seer: Galaxy will win and the kid isn't that good. Makes you wonder about their conversations around the table at dinner time.
