11:28. What a laugh Maximus has the top "Pre-ECNL" player. How do you know that when you haven't seen the all the players at 11v11 yet. ECNL is 2 years away buddy many things can change and the top 2 clubs up here PDA & Match Fit have multiple teams at U12 to pull from and form there ECNL teams so how can you even make a statement like that.
Seriously? what a way to misread a comment. I meant that Maximus has a player who plays on another top team. But yes I agree the tope players will not be know until then
Maybe learn how to write.
maybe I am trying not to post names, the inference was too difficult for you I guess. Anyway, I propose that the top ECNL players are not even in ECNL clubs yet. there are quite a number of players that have not touched academy level yet, and can out play a great number of those girls.
And I hear this player is only 10
I agree with 1:48 learn how to write then maybe people on this blog will understand you.
"you can check for yourself, but Maximus has a top preecnl player on their roster. and they aren't ecnl"I'm honestly confused. Someone on Maximus also plays on a pre-ECNL team? I'm not starting an argument I just don't understand what you're saying. Aren't PDA and MF the only "pre-ECNL teams"?
Yes and yes. You are not confused at all
I believe the blogger is referring to World Class Pre ECNL as that's closer to Maximus than PDA or MF. I could be wrong though
A Maximus player also plays for PDA Galaxy. Can't get any more clear than that.
So zero ole are saying that Macimus' roster us made up of World Class and PDA players? How does that work.
Players go in and out at Max. There are only 3 players there now, that were there 2 years ago..
I thought Maximus was a "supplemental" team. ?
Sdfc is alive and well on this blog, a lot of talk....Who is maximus? Looking back, looks like they kicked your ass last year...Why didn't you post that game score ????????
Maximus will show SDFC in State Cup! Oh wait...
11:48-seriously? You're making fun of a team who has chosen to stay 8v8 because they want to continue to develop their players? And don't retort with the tired line of "they probably couldn't get enough good players to field a 11v11 team".
For development, ok. They were playing up in an 11v11 league at U10, lol.
10:03-i was unaware of that!
8v8 is for development if you do not have enough quality girls to play 11v11.Isn't Region 1 @ U12 still 8v8?
Playing 11v11 does not guarantee development. Playing 8v8 does not guarantee development either. Copa went from 11v11 to 8v8 and still can't win a game. Anyone say development?
Good coaching guarantees development. Couple that with 8v8 with more touches in smaller spaces against good competition promotes the best development possible at the younger ages.
8v8 vs. 11v11 is not really the issue. As has been said on this board before, the real development takes place at practice - with good coaches and players there to learn and that want to get better. Practice with small sided games and activities that give you lots of touches - you'll get way more in a practice, if its done right, then any game no matter if its 8v8 or 11v11. Sure, maybe you get more touches in 8v8 as compared to 11v11 games - but the difference per game isn't going to be so significant as to impact development greatly - unless you playing many multiple games per week - and thats not good or recommended for development either. It all should happen in practice - then the difference between 8v8 and 11v11 will be negligible.
Playing 8v8 or 11v11 games is not development they are just ways to show and perform what has been done at practices. Practices/Training and girls doing things on their own at home is true development.
Any chance a new ECNL team gets created in NJ soon? Maybe Cedar Stars Academy? Is MF continuing to have ECNL in the future? I heard this is the last year for the 1 boys academy team they have left.
To answer the question above-NJ Stallions will have the next ECNL status through NJ. Why? Let me explain-To even come close to gaining ECNL status, you must own your own facility. Which right now, no club (even current ECNL clubs) own their own facility. PDA, Matchfit, WorldClass, etc- they rent their facilities- not own them. For those who don't know know- Nj Stallions have purchased land in Fairfield NJ (Wayne/Montclair) area and will have two turf full sided fields ready by fall 2015. Another way to gain ECNL status is to have successful teams under all ages through the club. For those who don't know- NJ Stallions a was and still is a successful boy program for many many years- before youth soccer- nj stallions was a professional soccer team. In under 2 years- NJ Stallions went from having "0" girl teams to now 13. Out of those 13 teams, you have the following:Girl Rankings on got soccer:U17-Dynamite- top 5 in countryU17-B team- top 50 in countryU16-BEC- top 50 in countryU15- Stampede- top 10 in countryU14- Freedom- top 10 in country Don't believe? Look for yourself. Strange how 2 years ago they didn't have a girls program to now ranking one of the highest programs in girls soccer in the state of NJ. No, these teams were not formed but they were brought over by two coaches who have committed to the Stalkions girls side which explains the reason behind these top teams committing to NJ Stallions. Sdfc? You tell me other than rage, what older teams are ranked within the top 10 teams in state from their club. Soutj Jersey Barron's? You tell me one girls teams ranked top 50 in country other than their 12s.Maximus? Don't they have only one team in their club?Njx/Matchfit? 90% of the players currently on the team now- wont be there when it matters.TSF- boys club only and will always be that way. Two kinds of ppl will come to this blog- ppl who live for the "NOW" and ppl who live for the "FUTURE" - hopefully the future is what you are aiming for regarding your child. Other than PDA- name one girls progr who has a higher ranking/success program than the NJ Stallions. Say what you want and bad mouth anyone you wish- they obviously have it right.Don't get caught up in the success your team is enjoying now- look for future. NJ Stallions will have the next part of ECNL.
If we are going by rankings then others in NJ have successful records as clubs, the ones below haven't brought in teams like Stallions and have instead developed them from the ground upSJ Elite 14s-15s and 17s are all in top 50 in Country and have their own facility.SDFC have 12s-15s-17s in top 75 in countrySTA have 12s-13s-14s-15s-16s in top 75 in countryTSF have 12s-13s-19s in top 75 in countryObiviously PDA has the best all around girls program. MF is shaky all over with their most successful girls teams being ones who got brought over.
The coaches who have the teams from stallions have built these teams from the ground up- both coaches have had these teams since they were u9-u10. Which makes it even better/TSF? Successful girl teams? None- what age? Only boy teams are successful. $3000 a year? 4 tournaments, twice a week training? Stallions are 2,300 = 8 tournaments, 3 sessions a week- 2 winter indoor sessions, edp- npl- and now region 1. Sdfc? No way Jose. Liberty? Panthera? Rage is a great team- nothing else nothing. No longer an established girls program like they were years ago.South Jersey Baroons- ill give you that one as they are a club on the rise. Very good club and well run.Matchfit? A disaster club, you only find that out once you become part of their horrible program.
"TSF? Successful girl teams? None- what age?"He just told you
no worries, according to him there are no other soccer teams in NJ. Thats why Stallions always win I guess? Oh wait, no they win because they tend to play second bracket, so they can win and rack up gs points.
I welcome the information about the Stallions. This blog could actually be a nice tool to share opinions and facts. Sadly it's too frequently used to bash little girls and parents behind the cloak of anonymity. As for the Stallions becoming ECNL, I disagree. And it has nothing to do with Stallions worthiness. It's because ECNL is heavily concentrated in the North East. Any expansion would likely be in other areas. But I will say MF is a joke and can't hold a candle to PDA. So will they strip MF and give to another club? That is more likely.
Just out of curiosity what makes you say this:"Njx/Matchfit? 90% of the players currently on the team now- wont be there when it matters."I'm just wondering because I live in the CNJ area and my daughter is a top player on a little lower level club and was considering a Matchfit tryout. Also what are your thoughts on PDA Shore and NJ Wildcats?
PDA Shore is too new to gain a true assessment but there are stronger clubs in that area.Wildcats have a controversial owner, i'll leave it at that
'Don't get caught up in the success your team is enjoying now- look for future.'Couldn't agree more with this poster.
Congrats to SDFC...Great performance this weekend!
Great weekend NJX/Matchit.
Does anyone have any older children (girls) that have been through the youth soccer scene? Does the 'soccer landscape' really change next year or year after? Do teams really drastically change at the higher level and top players all going to top academy clubs and those clubs that have teams now, do they really drop half of their girls? I have no older children to understand how it all works.
For the poster above, ill explain where you can then have your own opinion:Academy programs such as PDA, Match Fit, World Class, NJSA, Redbulls, etc have un real talent and for the most part, majority of the teams from all ages are very successful and highly ranked. Their tryouts are something spectcualr in terms of numbers and talent, obvuously due to the "program" not the "coach"I have three daughters who all enjoyed and one who is enjoying the NJ youth soccer experience and so far, we been very successful doing it- but let me tell you, its not down to the coaches we experienced with some of the clubs from above that has lead us to our families growth and knowledge of this game.Obvuously my opinion and from my own eyes and ears, majority of the coaches who coach within these Academy programs want to be a "college coach". What better way to gain a college coaching job? A resume. Not one academy club pays more than $13,000 to their coach for the team that they are coaching. Imagine, having 18 players (most high level academy clubs have a roster of 20-22 players) paying $3,000 for the year- which is around $50,000 for one team. Take away tournaments, fees, fields, etc- thats another $10,000. Leaves $31,000 left over for who and for what? the club? Which takes me to my next point. These high level academy program needs a simple BODY to stand at practice, yell a few soccer terms to heir players, SIT down on game day with their arms folded and watch their team dominate majority of their competition. From experience, about 80% of the coaches I was introduced to with my daughters taken part of their team had some sort of soccer background but could not coach for peanuts, but yet still have 4 state titles and top tournament wins under their belt. PDA for example (player DEVELOPMENT academy) - which is clearly opposite of what they actually do. They want the NEXT BEST THING as the coaches are not capable or do they have the ability to develop a 9 year old kid to continue to play at the highest level in the country until they reach 16-19 years of age- WHEN IT MATTERS. Now to answer your question:When a player goes to PDA, World Class, Matchit at U8-U12 the chances of them being there at U13-U17 are rare. You will see only a handful of players remain on each team every year. Now maybe many players remain of the roster, but the playing time is no where to be found. The best player at U11 usually becomes the 4th best player on the team at U12, then that player becomes the 7th best player at U13, then they become the 10th best player who fights for a starting spot at u14. Its development. Many of these academy programs do not have the talent to continue to train the INDIVIDUAL player to reach success. Go watch a training session at PDA. They scrimmage another PDA team for 45 mins every session. Now dont get me wrong, that is going to help out the top 3-4 players from each team as they will touch the ball more than everyone else during the 45 minute game but what about the rest? The best thing to do is find training that is top calibure. If you want to be part of an academy program, do it at the older ages when they do not know who you are. Those programs want the next best thing who they already dont have on their team. They know how poor they are as a coach to develop, so all they wait for is 150 kids to tryout for their team- ANY MONKEY CAN PICK 15 good strong athletic soccer players from a tryout and say- GO PLAY :-)Hope this helps
So according to the poster above there are NO solid coaches at the youth soccer level. What a joke. There are plenty of solid talented coaches developing young kids.
Most high level team coaches are college coaches whether it be head or assistants. I honestly think they get into youth soccer coaching at older ages for scouting purposes.
Anyone know the difference between clubs having an NPL team vs EDP team?
If you want parent coaches you go with lower level teams/clubs. If you want trained professionals then you go the academy route. Some academies have to rent field space so some of their fees go to that. I think kids try out for one of the academy teams at the older ages but unless they are superstars I don't see them getting onto a PDA A team. PDA A team took no new players for this year at this age level. Now they may later on when roster sizes go up. TSF is an academy. Anyone know when they started? Do they have high fees? Professional trainers? I saw the TSF-branded minivan two weeks ago. Bet the club bought it. Are they successful? Someone mentioned Copa went from 11v11 last year to 8v8 this year and still hasn't won a game. They are an academy. Anyone know when they started? Do they have high fees? Professional trainers? What about NJSA? Anyone know anything about them? It appears that you will have to do a lot "trying on" with different clubs to find the right fit and price tag for your daughter. Anyone know if academy teams go to more expensive tournaments? Disney has a high price tag. Do parents have to pay additional money for these tournaments or is it part of the fee? The higher price tag may be the result of attending more expensive tournaments.
All Tournaments are extra.
What are most of the girls from NJX/MFA going to do after this year? There are a handful that can play with an academy.
To the person asking questions about Academies. Just because a club like TSF or Stallions put the word Academy on their name, doesn't make them an Academy. Clubs like NJCSA is an Academy, but really only at the Boys level as they have at least 1 tm that plays in the USSDA.The only True Academies for girls in the NJ area are PDA, Matchfit, and World Class as they have ECNL teams. Correct me if I'm worng people. As far as I've heard TSF charges the highest fees around, which to me is ridiculous.
Everyone has it wrong true academies are ran by the MLS teams like Red Bulls, LA Galaxy, Union Jr.s etc. Anywhere you have to fund your child to play is a pay to play academy system. Both options are to get your child playing in top competition and exposure.
So you're saying if you play on World Class U14 ECNL team, that's the same as playing on TSF U14 team? Wrong
Yes & No it depends becuase the Top 6 players with a roster of 16 playing on TSF @U14 are probably better than the bottom 10 players @ PDA, Match Fit, World Class with those rosters of 25+. So if your daughter is who seeing the playing time @ TSF has the exposure vs. trying to win out a spot on a ECNL team which has already chosen there next big player. So why not go to TSF or another Non-ECNL club and get playing time to get exposure. If a club like PDA, Match Fit, World Class already has established players at certain positions. Now @U16/17 if you team is not going to out to get exposure I can understand jumping and going to one of the ECNL clubs.
I understand what you're saying and yes that would make sense if your child wasn't getting playing time, but that has nothing to do if a team is an Academy or not. Basically ECNL is the Academy for girls just like the USSDA league is the Academy lgue for boys. To say PDA, Matchfit, WC aren't academies doesn't make sense. They are! TSF is not!
TSF not an acedemy? So what happens if Matchfit or World Class loses ECNL status are they not considered an academy anymore. Look ECNL is a league actually the top league for girls. In a several years MLS will follow suit to what USSDA did for boys and have something identical for girls. Then the next peking order of leagues will start, then teams/players/parents will flock to that. Remember just 5 years ago girls were flocking to JAGS in NJ. Just becuase you are not in the ECNL "LEAGUE" doesn't mean your not considered an academy style club.
Now all the teams seem to be committed to playing large sided soccer (apart from FC Rage who like the easy ranking points I guess), any views on how this age group is shaping up? This is the last year before ECNL takes over for PDA, Match Fit and World Class so will be interesting.Any one want to throw out their rankings to keep us entertained?
@3:07pm I thought ECNL starts at U14 like USSDA does. We have 2 more years not next year. Based on Tournament results any NJ, NY, PA team can beat each other on any given day. Which is very good becuase it means Gotsoccer rankings and points will be more awarded closer to home for the next year. No true dominance anymore at U12. As for Nationally I think OP Fire(OH) and Cincy United are still Tops.
There is an fundamental difference between the red bulls academy and any ECNL team. Red bulls includes free training and travel expenses for a player that can make that those teams.ECNL teams have very expensive training and travel requirements. The girls will always have to basically pay for there own development as there is no financially successful pro league to help fund the youth teams.
1. PDA Galaxy2. SDFC Rage3. SJEB4. NJ Rush Hamilton5. TSF6. NJX7. Cherry Hill8. FC Rage9. NJ Stallions10. FC Maximus
7:37pm. Must be a NJ Stallions parent to put them 9th! They aren't even in top 15
NJ Stallions beat South Shore in CT this weekend and they are ranked 14th in the country.
Also beat world class 3-1 - loss to Sdfc 3-2 in scrimmage. Coach is too much but he turned a brand new team that won 2 games all last year vs FC Copa twice, to now competing with top teams in state.
9:21pm. And they also lost TWICE to a team ranked 451 in the country
They beat World Class B team
The beat red storm 3-1 and beat the b team- just checked on their page.I also looked at their record from precious games- Loss 2-1 vs TSF Tied 2-2 vs STALoss 2-1 vs Pipeline Beat world class red stormBeat south shoreDon't get me wrong- dont think they are their yet but assume they will be knocking on the door very soon
Rankings-1- PDA Galaxy2- SJB3- SDFC4- Rush5- TSF6- NJX7- Rage 8- Cherry Hill9- STA10- Stallions
You must have missed them losing against the PDA Shore team 2-0 in State Cup, losing against STA twice and losing against countless others over the Summer. Let's just keep things real here. Getting some decent results but the coach is not someone i'd want my daughter around.
Jesus, forget all that noise! it doesn't matter, next year there are going to be so many changes and player movements that the top teams will soon be bottom and the mediocre teams will soon take over. Watch your kid grow you got soccer losers. They are 12!!!
Does anybody know anything about the TSF team becoming IGFA next year? I was told that from u13 on, all TSF girls teams become part of their program with the training being down south? Is this true? If so, I can't imagine all those players remaining part of the club due to the amount of players live close to the area?? Please if anyone has any info, it would be greatly appreciative.
SDFC have beaten PDA Galaxy the last two times they played at 8v8 and 11v11 so how can they be ranked lower??SJEB win in state cup was a great win but that's the first time they have EVER beaten them.
I've heard that TSF is moving girls U13s and older to Edison to combine with their Valkyries program. If this happens, I would not expect many players to follow.
SJEB got trounced by galaxy in the state cup and they're out again. No way their second. Sdfc is second if not first
I can see TSF not being anything next year- the good players have many good local teams to look at rather than traveling to Edison for an average IGFA club. Shocked that TSF did any partnership with that guy! Talk about a complete moron!
FYI...There is a big difference between "Academy Style" clup and Academy. YEs you are correct TSF is not an officialy academy and Yes if Matchfit fold and don't have ECNL or USSDA teams anymore they won't be an Academy. I like that Rage still plays 8v8 that will change next Fall anyway. Maximus also still plays 8v8 and is a super squad.
Maximus stinks- Rage kick and run
Not sure that info about TSF is accurate. Haven't heard anything about required merging with south team. Tryouts for Valkyries at older age if wanted, not required. Looks to me that they want to keep a north and south presence.
@9:42 " I was told that from u13 on, all TSF girls teams become part of their program with the training being down south"Who told you this ?
"Maximus stinks- Rage kick and run"Yes that's how they won indoor state cup - kicking and running? Dumbass
There are no real girls academies. PDA is not an academy on the girls side, nor is matchfit. Parents, please do your research and see what is going on at older age groups for all of the top clubs, before switching teams. Yes, it's true the u12 and younger girls at PDA and Matchfit will not be the girls on the team when they reach U15 ( for the most part). You can go to the ECNL website and see how may new girls join each team at each year. Also, look at which tournaments each team plays in. Pda's B-D teams play in pda hosted tournies and other ECNL club hosted tournies against that clubs lower level teams. This year, pda created the "NPL Showcase" for B-D teams to occur at the same time asthe Disney college showcase, and it is a big flop. They haven't gotten enough teams and no collrge scouts. PDA itself has 4 of the 18 teams that did signup for each age. So look before you leap - with a little effort you can see what your money buys at these clubs.
And check out the pda roster sizes for its Ecnl teams. They carry 25-30 girls per team, with ab average of 27. At 27, that's 9 girls over the limit of 18 who can suit up for any one game. So if your child does manage to make an ECNL roster, they need to be ranked in the top half of the team to even suit up. This is the "fine print" that you need to be aware of.
So what happens at PDA as the girls get older - they cut the ones that have been there since U9 and take in new ones? Is this on all their teams, even the "A"? (Not being snarky, just trying to understand how it works).
WIth all the above said....How is a PDA ECNL team not an Academy? LOL
Why do you think the organizations that have a boys team in the USSDA - PDA, Matchfit and World Class around here are also the clubs that have ECNL. The only one that has a USSDA team and no ECNL is Cedar Stars and that's because CSA just became an Academy. Bottom line. If you're paying or not ECNL is the Academy league for Girls as is the USSDA for boys.
So says the ECNL!
ECNL is very very different from the USSDA for boys
Might be different, but the same concept.
The top boys academies cover the player's costs.I believe the first year of boy's academy is mandated to be cost free to the player for all USSDA academies. How is that the same concept as the girls side?
OMG...back to $$Again, bottom line. ECNL is the Academy development league for girls. So to say there isn't Academy for girls is FALSE. USSDA is different in many ways but doesn't change the facts.
There is no A in ECNL. Academy is free for boys. Unless that's the case then it's not an Academy. End of discussion.
Bottom line is ECNL is the "academy development league" for well off talent. The "academy development league" for the rest of us slobs is not the ECNL.
Correct ECNL does not stand for academy it's a league bracket where only specific clubs are chosen to play matches vs each other. There is no true girls select academy clubs that play for free, similar to USSDA boys. So for girls in NJ, NY & PA there are pay to play academies where teams play in a Hierarchy of leagues from local leagues to JAGS to EDP to NPL to ECNL or Region 1.You don't think US-Youth is planning something to counter US Club’s leagues. Region 1 used to be the go to league now it’s ECNL so in a couple years the landscape may change again. Look there are two main branches everything trickles up too US-Youth & US CLUB. Then there is U.S. National team recognition through USsoccer. So there are many options for girls now but going to pay to play academy like to PDA, TSF, Match Fit, SDFC, etc. is beneficial to growth and to maximize a girls potential.
Beneficial...absolutley. But not required to develop or soccer will become even more exclusive by income than it already is.
What do you mean "OMG ...back to $$" That's a awful position for a girls soccer forum.
I am misunderstanding something. Does anyone in this forum actually believe that other sports are cheap? That other sports do not require a financial commitment. Take a look at the private coaching industry in baseball, gymnastics, football, don't even stop before hockey, and then the non-sport cheer. Training at any high level is expensive. For the select few gifted players, it is sponsored. But this is not my only child playing a sport at a competitive level. My siblings and I also played competitively through college and that was expensive then. I am just happy that I am able to supply my children with the oppurtunities to attempt to play this beautiful sport. However, if you feel the need to bash the ability of some parents to provide the opportunity for their child, well, I will keep that comment to myself
Not bashing. But the sport has been monetized to excess. A good teacher and lots of personal talent and motivation are needed to advance to a high level of play. Extensive travel is not.
Discussion of the money issue changed direction. The simple point is that if the boys have funding for their academy level the girls should as well. If we want our sport to become competitive for the boys and remain competitive for the girls on an international level we need to provide funding for our elite athlete who cannot afford quality coaching.
I am 807, and I agree with that statement. Talented players should get the help. However, the other poster was just bashing. Then switched the conversation to excessive travel. Seems like the same poster. The model for elite athletes in this country does not include women unless it is a pretty sport. Ie, ice skating, tennis, or gymnastics. But to even get to that point, parents are driven to bankruptcy. To get that model to change, the American public would need to invest as spectators, and they do not.Look at the current state of the NWSL, or WNBA. If they make money, the younger athletes will be sponsored. only then.
The $$$$ discussion grew from a poster commenting that they believed the ECNL was the girls equivalent of the US soccer acadamies for the boys.It was simply pointed out that one of the significant differences between the two operations involves money. Because top talent boys near academies can participate for free, (at least at some age groups, some lower/middle income soccer stars can access that level of instruction. The ECNL does not serve these players and it is not designed to. It is a quality league with quality instruction, competition and players.
Someone actually posted if the League they play in isn't free than it's not an Academy. LOL And also because ECNL doesn't have the Word Academy in it, your club isn't an Academy either, LOLHilarious
""So there are many options for girls now but going to pay to play academy like to PDA, TSF, Match Fit, SDFC, etc. is beneficial to growth and to maximize a girls potential. ""TSF and SDFC aren't Academies
An academy is just a school. If you teach people to play soccer go ahead and call yourself an academy if you want to.
Comment from above must be from a low level club that maybe through Academy at the end of their name.So everyone is an Academy if they are teaching soccer in your eyes. Wow
The point was, the term is somewhat meaningless. Resesarch the program you put your kid in whatever they call themselves.
USSDA is subsidized. ECNL is not. Men's professional soccer generated revenue. Women's professional soccer (for the most part) does not. U.S. Men's soccer has to compete against other countries where soccer is #1 and thus have the USDDA. U.S. Women's soccer is already at the top as international development of women is completely different than the men. If a girl plays phenom soccer but the parents can't pay, I bet some of the higher level clubs would work around their fees to get the girl in.
Sounds like a bitter parent that didn't have the $$ to get their kid on an ECNL team - PDA, Matchfit, World Class. It's ok. Have fun at TSF
Only bitter I don't get to hang out with over bearing bullies like you on the sideline.
ECNL only means so much. If we are all eventually talking about College Scholarships then i can tell you that the kid who gets recruited will be one who plays on a good team (top 10 in the State is fine) and puts the effort themselves into getting recruited. If you think simply playing on an ECNL team will get you a scholarship then you are sadly mistaken!!College Coaches don't just go and watch an ECNL team if no player on that team has contacted them, why would they waste their team looking at a team where they have no idea if the player wants to go to their College? You may ask "how do you know this?". Or say i'm wrong. But i have heard it straight from the horses mouth several times. Our club holds College lectures 2-3 times a year and our older daughter is in that process. The club has several college coaches who coach the teams within the club and they get college coaches coming in to speak to the parents to go over the process. All state the same thing, is it a massive rarity that they will watch a game where they don't know anyone. It's a waste of their time.End of the day everyone here is arguing about ECNL being the best and only way, and everything else is almost worthless, its not.As long as your daughter is on a competitive team when they are U15 and above and are willing to put a lot of effort into contacting colleges then they will do just fine. If you're one of those naive ECNL parents (seems like a lot of them on here) and you think simply showing up and playing will guarantee you some form of scholarship then you are in for a harsh surprise in a few years time.Up til then let's let the girls enjoy playing and being competitive in their games. They are 12 years old for Petes sake.P.S-below is the Boys summary of what an academy is, unless a girls club does this then i don't see how they can be labelled a true academy. I'll give you a hint, none do this.Development AcademyOVERVIEWFollowing a comprehensive review of elite player development in the United States and around the world, U.S. Soccer created the Development Academy in 2007 to improve the everyday environment for the elite youth player. The Development Academy is a partnership between U.S. Soccer and the top youth clubs around the country to provide the best youth players in the U.S. with an every day environment designed to produce the next generation of National Team players. The Academy’s programming philosophy is based on increased training, less total games and more competitive games. The Academy also connects National Team coaches directly with the Academy clubs to develop and identify players and coaches for future Youth National Teams. Each Academy team is evaluated by a member of the Men’s Scouting Network at least 10 times each year and each Academy club receives two formal evaluations in over 100 categories each year from U.S. Soccer Technical Staff. The Development Academy is also focused on identifying and developing the next generation of elite referees. U.S. Soccer assigns up-and-coming officials to participate in Academy games at the local level and at national events.
8:20am. So what makes an Academy an Academy in your eyes? ECNL is just a league. Same as NY NPL and EDP
Do you like talking to yourself with your own questions and answers? We hear you...one problem - Nobody is listening
So now EDP is the same as ECNL...This gets more comical by the min. Let me guess - if a ECNL team offered your daughter a free ride, you would take it
Just another League.....laughableThe Elite Clubs National League was created in 2009 with the mission to enhance the developmental experience of the best female youth soccer players in the United States, and by doing so improve and raise the level of female soccer at all levels. In only 5 years, the ECNL has quickly grown to become the top youth female league in the world. While the impact of the ECNL is primarily felt at youth levels, the ECNL has had a significant and growing impact on every level of the sport. ECNL players cover US Soccer youth national team rosters, and even more ECNL alums are now dominating the Division I college soccer landscape. The ECNL mission condensed into three words is “Elevate the Game.” Since 2009, it has provided the opportunity for more players to reach their dreams on and off-the field. On-the field, the “ECNL player” has become the epitome of the next generation of collegiate soccer players. The ECNL is introducing "ECNL College Impact." The ECNL College Impact can be measured by the number of ECNL alums that have moved on to collegiate soccer, and the increase in this number every year since the league’s inception. The ECNL College Impact highlights the ECNL’s effect on collegiate athletic conferences all over the United States – and begins with the Big 12 Conference. The Big 12 Conference stretches from Texas to Iowa, and east to West Virginia. The Big 12 includes Baylor University, Iowa State, Kansas University, Kansas State University, Oklahoma University, Oklahoma State University, Texas Christian University, the University of Texas, Texas Tech University, and West Virginia University. 1The ECNL College Impact for the Big 12 includes the past 5 freshman classes – the freshman who began their college careers in the 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014 collegiate athletic seasons. In only 5 years of the ECNL:149 ECNL alumni are currently playing in the Big 12 Conference.Nearly 60% of the players in the Big 12 Conference are ECNL alums. The number of ECNL alums in the Big 12 freshman class has grown every year - to 51 players in 2014’s class. The percentage of ECNL players in the Big 12 freshman class consistently grew from 46% of the class in 2011, to 65% of the freshman class in 2014.7 Players on the 2013 Big 12 All-Newcomer Team are ECNL alumni.9 Players on the 2013 Big 12 First Team and Second Team are ECNL alumni. The ECNL is providing the most consistent platform to Big 12 college soccer – and the impact of the ECNL in the Big 12 is growing every year. The ECNL is more than four letters. It is a representation of the best platform and program for female soccer in the United States. Beyond that, the ECNL is representative of the vision and goals of the best clubs, teams, and players in the country. The ECNL is the aspirational focus for elite female athletes.
This discussion is more interesting than bashing this team or that team.
ECNL, EDP, NY NPL are all leagues that accept a full club to participate at every age group. You have to fulfill certain criteria to be accepted. The only thing i can see different between ECNL and EDP/NY NPL is that in order to be an ECNL team you need to have your own facility and preferably some National Level players within the club and a past history of being competitive at the highest level of tournaments in the country. Outside of that can anyone really tell me the difference between a ECNL Club and NPL Club?I'm not being sarcastic here, a lot of people are laughing that ECNL and NPL are massively different but can anyone tell me how as i can't figure out a huge difference. All i'm getting is people (presumably future ECNL parents) posting condescending messages saying the conversation is laughable but not actually telling us why!If my kid got offered a free ride on PDA/MF ECNL then of course i'd take it. But saying that if they got offered a free ride on an NPL team i'd take that as well! Saving $2.5k + a year is a lot of money.
The ECNL strives for excellence and that is very costly. But obviously the expensive (albeit first rate) training and competition is exclusionary by income. Why can't there be a civil discussion about how to serve the considerable talent for whom the ECNL is not a financial option.
....because some people have to "bash" ECNL because they can't afford it.
10:21am that was a very immature comment "they can't afford it". So your saying only the parents with the annual income above the norm with talented girls are playing for ECNL. What about te other half of the girls just as talented that do not see this exposure. Someone or some organization will step in and change the dynamic in a couple of years. They did it for boys and will do it for girls. To many girls go to MLS games as well as support.Remember when ODP was the way to go and they offered and still do a payment assistance for the unfortunate. I think 90% of the country is chasing the wrong dream if your comment proves right that only parents that can afford ECNL are playing.
Interested to hear about strategies families use to develop their players without breaking the bank.My club allows my daughter to attend an additional practice each week with older age group and play up in about 2-3 games per season with this group at no extra charge. She loves this and behaves well and works hard to maintain this privilege. Can we hear what other families have come up with?
My question is if your daughter is not on an ecnl club but does tip and odp/us club will they still be seen as much?TIP I know is free along with the us club.ODP is not. Will your kid still been seen if selected to these free events and you not have to break the bank.Just wondering what everyones thought are.
don't get your panties in a bunch. The can't afford it comment was meant for the person crying about the cost and how they couldn't. Differnt strokes for different folks
@11:14am - You are correct I like seeing conversations like this about families strategies and believe that they are ultimately helping their daughter develop one way or the other. I like that there are options out there, of course some options are more costly and see more exposure but by the time they hit U15 if she has in her heart and still wants it; a good developed/talented player will get notice no matter what direction they take at U12. This is way better than talking about rankings, Gotsoccer, or bashing teams. Very good conversation everyone.
Is it possible that people don't see the value in driving hours a day to get to an ECNL club, or just can't swing it with jobs/family/other responsibilies, and that an NPL club will be enough? Not everyone lives near PDA, MF or WC.
more crying...stop it. You're embarrassing yourself
@12:06pm - Yes if you have 1 child that is talented that can breach a starting Top 12 of a ECNL team then the value is great and you should not mind the drive and the cost. Even if you have 2 children and 1 of them can make it on ECNL it's worth it.But every family is different some may have 3 kids playing at high level and simply cannot afford it of have ressponsibilities to the their other children. So there are other paths that can be chosen.
Ignoring the poster apparently home from school for the day, teams may need a guest player for certain tounys or games. My kid has done this here and there.
Best way for your kid to be seen is getting on a decent club where they do legit tournaments, showcases, - MAPS, EDP, etc. Also many online marketing tools out there when the time comes
Yes, having your kid be a guest is the best path to success!!
Go back to watching Disney Channel with your box of tissues.
Can I borrow your tissues. Seems you left them next to your computer looking at all the quality talent at the ECNL level, so you had to come on here an cry how you can't afford it.
Oh snap...we have a winner. Back to the discussion.
Your kids are 11 and 12 years old please let them enjoy the sport.
Why do some clubs have TEAM 'NPL' & then TEAM 'EDP'? I don't understand because EDP's first division IS NPL.
I dislike the attacks on any person's socio-economic status. We know nothing about people or their situation. I hope some sense of decency can be restored. Let's talk soccer. Thank you.
Predictions for this weekends State Cup QFinal games?
NJX 3-1 over PDA Crew
8v8Maximus 4 Rage Revolution 1Rage Renegades 5 Watchung Hills 0Nj Crush 2 Copa Academy RIO 1Copa Academy Cali 1 Lawrence Hamnett 0
I'm waiting for someone to inevitably make fun of 8v8 SC anytime now.... reasons could be they don't have the $$ to pay 11v11 or that "academies" don't play 8v8 as it's not as good for their development as 11v11.Now that's done, agree with the 7:56am and 8:23am assessments. Can't see any upsets this weekend given the games.SJEB over Cherry HillNJX over PDA C teamNJ Rush over PDA B teamHaddonfield over JPS-who knows?!
What happened to PDA Galaxy?
Does anyone know, which League Maximus plays out of?
Galaxy chose not to do State Cup, my guess is they didn't want to risk not winning it... but that's only for the coach to know and us to guess!Maximus plays EDP 8v8
sjeb is out, sdfc over cherry hill
PDA Galaxy doesn't need to do NJ Youth Carded State Cup no point for them to waste there time to NJ Card players for a few state cup games. US Club state cup in spring will be more impressive and more likely everyone in this age group will be playing 11v11 state cup.Plus it eliminates many of the town travel teams that really cannot compete at a high level. I think also think the EDP Open Cup will eventually overwrite state fall and spring state cup's.
Question - So the NJ State Cup is in 2 leagues - NJYSA & US Club?DO they both have a Spring & Fall State Cup? Or does US CLub have it in Spring and NJYSA have it in the Fall?I assume the US Club is better and tougher to compete
1036 - Correct: NJYSA is Fall's NJ State Cup / US Club is Spring's NJ State Cup. Personally State Cup should be a 10month process Fall into Spring, with double elimination. What's the point of having 2 state cups for teams to GS points in(Fall/Spring)? The girls are carded for a team year round so there shouldn't be no drastic roster changes occuring mid season. NJ should adopt 1 annual State Cup with double elimination. Clubs can either be carded NJYSA or US CLub. It's ridiculous clubs are spending money carding players NJYSA in the Fall for 1 to 4 games. Thus the reason why PDA Galaxy is not in the Fall state cup.
Nonsense response 9:35am. PDA Galaxy doesn't "need" to do NJYS State Cup. How big headed can you get, you act like you'll automatically win it by entering it. It's been shown that this PDA group is beatable by many teams. Any given day as they say.NJYS State Cup has been around for years, US Club NJ Cup is fairly new. For this age it's NJYS in Fall and US Club in Spring. For 15s and above they run both in the Spring. Competition level varies year to year.
I agree that clubs do not want to deal with the extra work associated with carding through NJYS which remains an archaic process. The US Clubs carding process is so much simpler. I am sure that this affects which teams participate in fall State Cup, the turn out was certainly light this fall.
1134 - It wasn't meant that PDA Galaxy is big headed, it more relates to the process of carding players under NJYSA to compete for 1-2 competitive games.Rather just set up 3-4 scrimmages vs. other PDA or top squads. Save the parents travel time and the unknown factor of when is the next game and where.
Agree about people should stop talking about people's socio-economic status. It's uncalled for. Some people didn't and don't have the privileges as others growing up. And true about no one knows about people's current situations. Remember, it's about the children. US Club/USYS (NJYS), just different soccer bodies all aiming at soccer development. Any club/team can do both cups--one is not 'stronger' than the other. One does it in the Spring other in the Fall. Competition level just all depends on the teams deciding to participate in either cup. As for Galaxy, remember they are going to be ECNL. They are not even allowed to participate eventually in the state cups. No ECNL teams are allowed...and that goes for all ECNL teams in every state. Look at the state cup now, it's kind of watered down. Just a few decently good teams which will slowly start to water down as well probably.
That's really funny. If I recall PDA Galaxy only lost 1-0 to NJX Sol in state cup last year and it was a goalie mistake.
I'm sure Galaxy played better soccer. Can't always pay attention to the score. Anyway, in two years, a lot can change. I'm sure other top quality players will be swarming to Galaxy. And the current players just getting stronger with PDA's training curriculum within their club.
So nix is the state cup winner ? And what are you referring to anyway, I see no mention of galaxy and nix being mentioned. Nix needs to just stay away from board, always bringing bad attention to themselves. Maybe I'm wrong and missed something here, but I never recall nix winning state cup. Maybe they won Jeff cup, delco, PDA, and stars cup and I missed that too?
Who is nix? And why does he need to do anything?
Sdfc would have posted from the parking lot if they won - but they lost. I'm shocked - I thought they were the best team in state by long shot. Looks like nix or njx barely got by PDA.
But they won. Congrats NJX!
NJX and SDFC are both over the top with their bosting and posting. To much talk usually backfires...As seen today by SDFC. Why did NJX make a false claim about beating PDA in spring state cup? Pretty sure the galaxy team from pda won the 11v11 bracket.
I don't see SDFC or NJX "bosting" at all. And I doubt NJX would make a false claim. Maybe you simpletons can finely realize that trolls make claims to be from a team and say dumb things in an attempt to make those teams look bad. The inaccuracy of their posts should illustrate that. I really wish they would either make this blog require registration or an IQ test.
Well any simpleton can google NJ Cup 2014 and see Galaxy beat NJX Sol 1-0 in the final. Galaxy indeed won the game. As for today NJX beat PDA Crew and not Galaxy.
If you go back to a post it was stated that Galaxy thinks it's a waste of time to be in State Cup. That's why it was posted about the NJX/Galaxy game.. They are not blowing anyone away!
So someone pretends to speak for Galaxy that State Cup is a waste, so the lemmings attack Galaxy for claiming this. Then "SDFC and nix (?) are ripped for "bosting". The Real Dummies of New Jersey Soccer saga continues.
You are blind...sdfc has been all over this blog last three weeks.
Max are rolling!
This blog is just so entertaining. Anything can be said by anyone and not really knowing where their from. I bet you there are no Galaxy parents on this blog and all this talk is being said about their team. I don't think certain coaches allow it.
That's why it's called a blog
A sincere congratulations goes out to Haddonfield, NJ Rush/Hamilton, Holmdel FC NJX, and Cherry Hill. The good news is, your girls will experience an exciting soccer memory that will last a life time. The bad news, your team, your parents, possibly your coaches and club as a whole will be criticized and mocked ad nauseum for the next 2 weeks (or longer) on this wonderful blog by its upstanding "adult" contributors.
What about the 8v8 teams, do they count?Yes they had an easy Cherry hill and Hamilton in finalsRage and Maximus in finalsSdfc is out in case anyone didn't notice
"Yes they had an easy Cherry hill and Hamilton in finals"Translation?
Good luck to all the teams in the Semis!
I can see NJX, RUSH, and CH being in the Semi's but people let's get real Haddonfield had a great draw to get there. Hopefully NJ get's it right going forward and has the Top rankings teams playing bottom ranking teams in the 1st round and so on. NCAA Basketball Bracker style!Yes congrats to all the NJ Semi-final teams.
Why is it that the NJYS state cup didn't have all it's top teams? Do you think some clubs are trying to get away from NJYS and just focus their first teams with training and US Club soccer's top leagues?
Predictions for semi finals this weekend?
2:35am. Name me 1 other top team besides PDA who didn't enter NJYS State Cup? They were the only one who didn't enter from what i saw
They didn't enter but, heard they used some girls from their A team to play in he quarter finals.
Didn't help based on the results
Did anyone warn Sol yet their players should wear Kevlar body armor this weekend?
9:03am I do not think PDA Galaxy and Nova went out of there way to NJYS Card girls on from there teams to play on PDA Crew and PDA Shore. Stop feeding wrong information. Remember teams had to lock rosters up for State Cup in the beginning. Cannot add players throughout the games.
Maximus vs Rage Renegades will be a nice Final Sunday. I know most say Rage Ren r the best or 2nd best in state.
Not hard to be top 2 in state with so few clubs playing 8v8. Heck all 8v8 clubs can claim their U12 team is Top 10 because they are!
So you're saying if Maximus or Renegades played 11v11 right now they wouldn't be a top 10 team in state? Just wanna make sure I got this right
9:03 you need to check your info because there were girls there from the A team. One was the goalie. No biggie just saying.
Not only does sol need armor they also need ear plugs so they don't here Cherry Hills parents with there foul mouths.
don't know who's saying rage renegades are best or 2nd best in state who have they played in the last 2 years?????? just wait till they go 11V11, they'll be mediocre at best
I didnt post anything about 8 x 8, but I think its impossible to figure where any of the 8 x 8 would rank. How can one argue one way or the other?
Oh stop the madness, GS or any type of rankings does not justify any team in this age level. Any team can be beaten at the top levels and as for those top 8v8 teams we will not know how well off they are until they go 11v11, so you cannot compare them yet. If you really want to talk and have conversations 8v8 and 11v11 teams should be spoken off differently.
I think all of the few top teams that Jersey has need to really expand who they're playing. How is it benefitting them playing weaker teams? They should probably keep league games to a minimum and just pick and choose who they play, even if they need to play up along with just sticking to the more training/less games method.
9;03 so was their forward
Too NJX SolYouse guys iz gonna loose da game!SignedCherry Hill Publick Relashins Departament
We all know which parent from Cherry Hill just wrote that comment!!!
1:54 you need to check your information. Yes there were girls there from Galaxy, but to watch, not play. The goalie is carded for both teams.
Is it common for the ECNL clubs to card girls for more than 1 team? I have no idea. Is the goalie the only girl Crew carded for State Cup?
Any club can put players on more than one team roster as long as they are carded with that club. Edp and the cup allow it. And the rosters for cup are locked once the championship draw is announced. http://www.njyouthsoccer.com/clubsite/?p=4807
IGFA has players rostered on more than one roster.
At least PDA uses appropriately carded players. Can't say that about other clubs in the area.
What club doesn't use appropriate carded players?
If you ask me the rules on the NJYS site are a little vague about being able to move players between teams on the same club - though I do agree that it says that roster are frozen at the time of the championship draw. But lets be frank, if any players from PDA A played, then thats not the 'Crew'. Its just PDA trying to make all its teams look as strong as they can...
Someone should check Cherry Hill's cards this weekend, they have been known to use guests for State Cup play.
Forget checking the cards for the players, check the parents IDs to see if there are any escaped convicts.
@11:49 - thats so wrong...but very funny!
934 and 1114. Cup tourney ateams re notoriously filled with the best players from each club. More all star team instead of regular season team. It is done specifically to say that the club eon the cup. Nothing new there.
@3:09 - You need to log off and concentrate on your school work. Based on your blog entry you spelling and grammar are horrendous .Oh congrats to Cherry Hill, ignore all the haters on the board I’m glad to see a regular town travel program succeed. Same goes for Haddonfield.
Aah yes. A Cherry Hill parent. Please tell us are you playing your original roster or guest players?
@3:29 - Keep assuming. Oh CH will have guess players they flew them in from other states like CA and Texas. Even one player from Brazil.
