Re: SoccerPlus in CT
Don't you give them a chance to improve, given the talent in their area?
Rosters chamge. Don't diss the club (and the entire state) for a poor W-L start
How can you invite a college coach to watch you, or truly get the exposure to college coaches who you didn't invite, if you are sitting?
My child is leading the team in goals and points this season, and gets half of a game at best. Most other players get full games. The coach says effort is more important than skill; playing smart gets you less time. Getting assists is ignored. Passing to your own team most of the time is ignored.
I agree that ECNL (for girls) or USSF academy (for boys) have more and better training in general, but it can affect a player tremendously if she or he sits for most of the game, especially if a college coach is invited to see them play.
And exclusivity, making the players not able to guest or secondary card, really hurts players.
Is it true that you can not play HS or even in State Cup? Why the does ecnl not allow it's players to experience other soccer options?
No, it is not true. I know plenty of girls who play for ECNL teams and for their HS teams, and several who do ODP as well. Most ECNL teams pass on State Cup, but not all do, and several players roster to their club's USYSA team and participate in State Cup that way.
Check out U16 McLean or U15 Eclipse Elite for teams that participate in USYS and ECNL events.
MFs handout from tryouts says that girls are only allowed to participate in ECNL or NPL events. does not say anything about HS. MF does have a no guesting policy.
no guesting as not allowing their girls to guest play with other teams.
Sounds like a lot of rules and control. Seems like everyone is willing to give up freedom for promises. A country trend ,not just soccer.
My daughter plays on an ECNL team and has also done ODP. There is no rule that says she can't do both. With all of the opportunity in ECNL we have decided not to do ODP anymore, but were never told that she can't. We also have 4 girls on our U14 team that play HS soccer.
Why are the u-14 girls playing down to age instead of on grade? So,HS
Freshmen are playing Middle School girls. Development?
And how is that up to 30 player roster working out. Playing time?
Oh yeah, ecnl rules says players must play on age and not to grade. ODP is open to all players that are good enough to be selected, ecnl is the one with all the rules and regulations.
And how is that coaching rotation thing working out at ecnl. Just when your daughter finally figures out what the coach wants a coaching change every two years.Change is very difficult for 14,15 year old girls. Who's your next coach? lol
Yes there are some very good teams in ecnl, but look at the conference schedules and scores. No really look at them. More then half the teams have a negative GD.Bottom three teams are -15,-22,-35 or more and get to stay in league and play again the following year. Now that is real Development. Not sure where the e in elite went. Or does e now stand for everyone?
