http://events.gotsport.com/events/results.aspx?EventID=32572&Gender=Girls&Age=16Bethesda tourney. Is PAE serious? State cup champ gets hammered 6zip. Top 5 in country FC Philadelphia gets beat 4to1.What gives?
Sounds like the teams were not prepared to play? Bad coaching maybe?
Both teams played at wags. Who is fc maryland? Is that the coyotes? There are only 2 teams in pae and both are ecnl!
Agreed...FC Bucks and FC Continental
Fc Bucks and Penn Fusion I meant.Fc Continental was bottom 10 in ecnl
Fc maryland is what used to be called freestate.
Why is fc bucks in the 3rd bracket at Bethesda if they are one of your top teams in pa?All legacy n fc phila bounced back with convincing victories yesterday! These two teams are two of the better teams in regionn 1 and can beat anyone on any given day!.
When playing Friday afternoon games at tournamnets, anything can happen depending whom can travel. Some people actually work, and school always comes first.Local teams get the edge here. One of the disadvantages of Showcase style(one game per day.
That was not the FC Bucks ECNL team in the third bracket.
FC Delco not exactly a good start to the season at Bethesda and they had a handful of d-1 coaches watching on Sunday.
They were bottom 10 in ecnl. They lost key players and there best player was playing in high school state finals.
Pda are you going to Jeff Cup? What other events will you be at? We like to play your team and hope to see the teams cross paths.
I was jsut reading and noticed NJ Stallions didn't make the National League. What happened?CASL has two nice brackets filled with great teams. NJ Stallions are playing a very bad Orlando team when they could be playing real comp!.Under 16 Girls National League Blue Under 16 Girls National League Red
Not from Stallions, but probably because they weren't eligible per Nat'l League rules. Teams eligible for selection:(1) any team that played R1 Premier League(2) any team that played the National League during previous year(3) any team that reached semifinals R1 tournament.Assuming they wanted to play NL, clearly they got screwed for not playing R1 Premier league last year...as they no doubt would have been selected otherwise. Also, I wonder when those criteria were created....i.e. how new are they?
Also got screwed playing the best and only team in this region in bracket okay at regionals or they would of been a region semi finalist.Maybe this year they will get lucky just dont look to far past both these next up coming weekends.
The National League qualification rules are not new. Stallions chose not to play in R1PL last year, and so a third place finish in their pool at R1 tournament ended their only shot to qualify for NL 2013-2014 season.
this season will be though for her :)
Got Soccer Rankings are so ridiculous. How can a team after today have 20 L's 10 ties in 60 games after today and not only be considered the best team in the state but 5th ranked in the country? They weren't even the state champions or league champion.http://events.gotsport.com/events/schedule.aspx?eventid=34088&FieldID=0&applicationID=2053416&action=GoThere has to be a better calculation/formula then whats going on. Its almost funny.
News flash, all rankings are stupid! They were never important! I can't believe people still talk about TD or GS rankings. Everyone knows who the top 20 teams in the country are.
Really? Who are the top 20.My team hasn't played or seen every team so what are you basing it off of? td or gs?
GS rankings are not at all ridiculous. They paint a completely accurate picture of exactly what they claim to show: namely, which teams have accumulated the most GotSoccer points. That's it. That is all that they do, but they do it very well. There is no inherent judgement made about "best" teams by the accumulation of points. The only thing that the GS rankings can tell you about any two teams relative to each other is that Team A has (or has not) accumulated more points than Team B.There are too many events that GS does not rank, and too many teams who just chase points for the rankings to mean any more than that. Now it is true that the GS rankings can be used as a starting point for identifying the best teams, using the premise that the best teams play in more highly ranked events/flights and perform better in them. But it's only a starting point, because of the ability for teams to accumulate points simply by playing more frequently than others. If you have been around the age group very long, though, it's not that hard to identify the best 15-20 or so teams nationally or regionally. Yes, there will be some arguments, but the top group at each level have separated themselves from the pack through consistent success over the past several seasons. For example, discussion of the best in Region 1 starts with Bucks, PDA, Coyotes, and Stallions, with a half-dozen or so others worthy of consideration. Nationally, in addition to the R1 teams, Eclipse's double titles put them near the top of the list, along with one or more of the ECNL teams in Dallas, Carlsbad, Albion, SD Surf, Amabassadors, Tennessee SC, Legends, and maybe eight to ten others. That's at least a reasonable starting point if you haven't seen all of the teams (and very few people have).
Very well put. As an FC Philly parent, we all know we are not the 5th best team in the country, nor do we boast to be. We have a very talented group of girls that can play with most in the country, but we clearly are not at the level of the likes of the Coyotes and FC Virgina whom we recently lost 2-0 to both. We have a PAGS league game in 2 weeks vs FC Bucks ECNL which will be a great measuring stick of where we are to date.
Didn't your team just lose to fc bucks recently 5to2?Just because your on the same pitch doesn't mean you can play with these teams.
I just want to bring up something that nobody seemed to mention a few weeks ago. I find it funny, that every time a national team roster is announced somebody comes on here and says look at how many ECNL players are on the team. ECNL is so Great or something along those lines. Unfortunately, the U-17 team has failed to qualify for the world cup for two consecutive cycles. Clearly, ECNL has not elevated the level of the US national team, like everyone has claimed it would or has. Anyone have any thoughts on that?
Agreed. But it's not just the U17s or about ECNL. It's not obvious to me that the WNT has evolved their playing style all that much....despite the stated desire to do so over recent years. The US teams are too predictable -- in the old days it didn't matter, we were superior athletically. That's not enough anymore. It comes down to coaching, player selection, and assembling teams of players capable and willing to play the style you demand or that is increasingly demanded to be successful at international level. What player traits are valued most? How about soccer IQ or tactical knowledge, mental speed, decision making, technical skills, creativity? Those players are out there and are still sufficiently athletic to compete internationally. Also, successful teams need versatile players that complement one another -- the best 11 is not the same as the 11 best, however you define "best". Lastly, if national team scouts are somehow focusing more on ECNL, they are missing a lot of great players....especially given the still early stage of ECNL development and the huge size of the non-ECNL player pool relative to ECNL. Watch UVA women play -- that's more along the line the national teams need to play. Probably why the U20s won the World Cup.
Are you kidding me? If you watched the matches, the U17 WNT were heads above any other team. They really were out coached against Mexico and unlucky. Mexico scored early, and poured everyone in the box. The US youth national teams look far better than other teams and they continue to feed into the WNT.
I watched. Far better than other teams? What other teams? Are you referring to T&T, Guatemala, and Jamaica? Certainly not heads above Mexico -- as the fact is that they got beat by Mexico. Oh -- they clearly "dominated", just not on the scoreboard where it counts. And not far better than Canada. The standard should be Japan, Germany -- and they didn't fare so well against them either earlier in the year.
What other teams are you referring to? T&T, Guatemala, and Jamaica? Don't think that should be the standard.
On the score board it was 1 up against Mexico. Canada couldn't penetrate their defense n controlled the game. Not sure what you watched.
So your conclusion is: No need to improve or change anything. The US youth national teams continue to be far better than other teams and continues to feed into the WNT, which itself is far better than other teams. In the latest example, the U17s were just very unlucky for the 2nd time in a row in WC qualifying....in a very weak region.
Google the highlights against Mexico. Its on YouTube the game should of easily been 4 to 1.Anyone that played soccer knows that any given day the best team can lose. On that day the women lost on pks. Those 3 forwards are 3 of the best at their age and ill argue with you to name 3 better. All 3 strikers were at the ecnl nationals with 2 of them playing against each other in finals. Although you might have a grudge against ecnl you can't knock those girls. They just didn't finish that day. Please look at your own team and how many times you left the pitch with a tie or 1zip loss after dominating and saying we didn't finish. There is a ton of talented girls and the future of the sport will be fine in the women's side.
I guess the person who stated dont take East Meadow lightly was correct. They beat NJ Stallions 1-0. The 3 best teams are in the same bracket in the same flight. Up next PDA vs East Meadow. That should be a great game. NJ Stallions whats going on? Your last 5 meaningful games you have scored Zero goals? 4 out of 5 losses. Hopefully you can break the slump against the alleycats but you still have PDA to play. The Ecnl Northeast conference goes to show you is the toughest league to play in. Adding Matchfit who just tied one of the best non ecnl teams in this region and East Meadow beating arguably the best or second best non ecnl team in NJ Stallions.Best of luck everyone
East Meadow ties Pda!East Meadow is no joke.Nj stallions could win their bracket tomorrow and play in finals. Oh wait not the dynamite team the dynamo on the other side.
Stallions win ! Stallions Win !ECNL FALLS FLAT and Stallions win!pda third in bracket- a sad wkdnot first, not second, but third as in last in bracket or bottom half.East Meadow surely proves a contender, but needs to win a big tourney to be consider with the big girls.Again, ecnl has some very good teams and some just very average.
New ecnl club Matchfit. 1st tourney n played the so called best team in region to a 2to1 game.Shows you how deep the ecnl is.Look how stallions did the previous tournament against ecnl teams. Didn't win a game n didn't score a goal.
East Meadow didn't lose a game and beat Stallions. They were best team at Newss.EM was unlucky this morning hitting the post n crossbar against alleycats. Nj stallions did what they had to do but be honest pda could of and should of won.
There is almost nothing about your statement that is honest. If the non-goal against the alley cats was "unlucky" then the pile up in front of goal in the EM game against the Stallions where 3-4 players were sprawled on the ground and no foul called was equally unlucky. Certainly, EM didn't play well- mediocre at best. Stallions were marginally better even with fully 85% of the possession. In the first game of their season the Stallions didn't get it done, EM won, that's the story. So congratulations on the win East Meadow. The coaches that were watching left at the end of the first half. They knew what garbage they were watching even if you didn't. PDA vs Stallions was a decent game. Neither team was at full strength. PDA was down at least 3 of their starters and Stallions had a few injured on the bench as well. Probably the first time ever that Stallions was able to field as many subs during a game as PDA. Still it was a strong energetic game and one that was played with an intensity and skill than East Meadow would never have been able to deal with. The college coaches got their money's worth and there is no doubt that many of players on that field did themselves proud in those coaches eyes. The real truth is that on Sunday, East Meadow, faced with a clear shot at playing the final couldn't beat a much lesser team that both PDA and the Stallions beat 3-0.
I have to agree with last post. EM doesn't possess the ball, always going for the home run. This is why they do not score much. Their D is top notch, left defender is fast and quite good. Goalies also good. That being said, Stallions and PDA are in different class. PDA even missing 4 starters showed better than EM, Stallions looked good also this early in the season. PDA had the better of the chances against the Stallions but didn't convert. Clear breakaway at the end, cross bar in the first half. Stallions converted a hustle goal in the second half with a pretty awesome shot through the goalies' hands. Stallions had slightly better play in the second half, PDA had a bunch of chances at the end of the first half and dominated the second portion of the first half. My sense is that Stallions bench is as deep as PDA's, the starting 11 is pretty even...Anyone see Match Fit?
Although I agree with a lot of the last 2 posters however I feel your selling EM short. Their style of play is a lot different then most and because of that they have the hardest defense to scoring. The players are solid but they play defense first and foremost with waiting for the few opportunities to capitalize on a goal. I don’t think many teams can compete with their defense of tactics. Please don't knock the style as each team is built and trained to its strengths. They have beat Stallions tied FCV/FC bucks/Montgomery/PDA so the results speak for it self. Maybe its time for this big bad teams in region 1 who are suppose to be the best to adjust and find away to beat EM. Nice job stallions bouncing back on Sunday.1. Coyotes.2. Stallions3. PDA then the next tier of teams 4-8
Can someone tell me if the Juventus team is NJx or Match fit and if its MF when did this happen.? They still have the same coach?
East Meadow has only played Coyotes once and the Coyotes won1-0.
pda Arsenal is not in top 10 of NJ anymore. Ranked 181 nationaly !180 teams ranked higher then pda Arsenal. Pda Arsenal starting to look a loke like a B team in PDA.just saying, keep Arsenal and other pda out of top 10 disscussion until they win something. This weekend in CASL will show much. All those 300 plus college coaches will at National League games in CASL.NJ Stallions Dynamite #1 in Nation
Please stop trolling and trying to stir up trouble. There is not one Stallions player or parent who has anything but the highest regard for their PDA opponents. Certainly not enough to post with such an obvious negative agenda. The girls on both sides are happy when they win, sad when they lose, but every time these two teams play together the kids learn more about the game and grow in their respect for each other. STOP IT!
Fc Bucks Ecnl 2 Fc Philadelphia Black 2 . . . :) First Time Meeting
Thanks FC Phila parent :)I just thought I chime in and give you some outside perspective. In all honesty the game was pretty boring. You didn't have a quality chance until the last 3 mins on goal. You had a PK with 10mins to make it 2-1.Then with 2mins to go was very lucky to tie it with getting a free direct kick in which the bucks goalie came out to get a ball and didnt realzie she was a step over the 18(the field outlines were faint.) Your only other quality chance was another direct kick in 1st half plus 2 other long shots that went over the net.Your team has talent but if they played you on turf I believe it would be alot different. Bucks girls took the foot of the brake more then once in that game.I also know they were missing 3 starters and leading goal scorer. Good luck the rest of the year and hopfully the teams can meet up in the future - with better field conditions and nicer weather.--Signed Fc Bucks Non Ecnl parent.
Any predictions for this up coming Casl Weekend?
Way to go FC Philadelphia! Is it true that the FC Bucks kids are still out doing wind sprints?
Matchfit ECNL cant be that strong. They beat the NJ Stallion Dynamo team 1-0 with 1 minute left in game on a PK and Dynamo is not one of your top teams.
Way to go Fc Phila you got a Tie!I never seen a team so happy - lolIf the bucks girls were really doing wind sprints then you can tell the differences between your team and their team. Your celebrating the tie while they are pissed at it.Next time win and we will give you your just kudos.Onto tomorrow - some great games so enjoy the games and have a safe trip.
Well said ---
Coyotes back to form. Finally got rid of some dead weight and added a couple really dynamic players that should and will be starting, and give them the added new focus they needed. The new forward is just awesome. A real super star they have been lacking and according to sources, she is playing up a year.
Fc Phil back to form losing again to Canada team. Hey you still have that tie!
Coyotes lost today and were shut out. Where was the new striker?
The new forward is very good but rarely will finish or complete a season with multi injuries/concussion and just not feeling good that day. Sometimes the pressure of being great gets a player overly stressed.
two more things learned today .....1. FC Phila lost again and are an average team in Region 1 on their best days. 2. Orlando city should have never been in the top flight. As a poster posted earlier last month. Losing 10 - 0 to Stallions today. Why would CASL put a team in that place to be embarrassed?
Stallions back to normal and crusing
I have 2 daughters at this event and I have to say that I was very disappointed with these crsp fields. I thought this tournmant would have been a lot better. I hope we aren't there next year.
ecnl gets HAMMERED at CASL. Only very good ecnl team was Maryland United(FreeState). BTW-best non-ecnl teams did not even need to beat them b/c they play in the undisputed top League (National League) Sad wkd for ecnl at u-16 and u-17
What happened to PWSI? They had awful results...I walked by their first two games and they had one of their strongest player #10 sitting down. Is she hurt does any one know? With their old coach leaving thing don't look so good for them. Pretty sad it was a good team.
Which League are you comparing the ecnl to?Doesn't make much sense to compare a league to the other organization now does it? East Meadow did very well. Looking at the national Youth Soccer bracket some poor showings as well from this region. So the best teams from region1 national league didn't farewell. The best teams from Region 1 Ecnl did well -aka Freestate and eastmeadow. PDA/Bucks/Stars weren't at this tournament so I am not sure who or what your comparing? I mean a 32 ranked ecnl team Casl played the number 1 got soccer team Stallions to a 2-1 game. PWSI? PDA South? Montgomery? what happened to those teams from national league? poor representation from region 1.
FC Phila what happened at CASL? 0-3 - Was that Canada team really good? They waxed everyone else.
Who is the NJ Rush team? What was their previous name, they had good results this weekend and beat Oakwood who is a very good team.
It looks like the Coyotes played well and are in good position.
Syracuse had a good weekend and are in the mix as well.
The team from Canada was a solid team and played well. Stallions and NJ Rush represented NJ well this weekend @ U16. The NJ Rush team is the old NJSA team that played out of Highlands in South Jersey.
casl team completely changed their roster, brought a player that plays u18 in their club and is in national team a year up, to play age appropriate after seeing the 10-0 score earlier in the day. Unfortunately it still wasn't enough.
The Casl team did no revamp their roster and the striker your referring to started U15 with them. She is very talented but not new to the team. They already have 4 L's in less then 10 games in ECNL. As for Canada team they move the ball as well as any team I have seen at this age. Their issue is depth. If they score first watch out - they have beaten some high level teams in the US from other regions.
In National League play this weekend, PDA had a bit of a rough introduction to National League, dropping a pair of 3-0 decisions to Eclipse and Coyotes. But they played even with AC Milan Detroit Waza, and were in the match with some good chances against Tophat before coming unglued late in the second half. They don't seem to quite have the required depth to stay with the top teams for an entire match, but they didn't appear to embarrass themselves, despite being outscored 10-0.The Coyotes pretty much performed as expected, despite a sluggish performance against Legends. They looked more impressive offensively and still only gave up one goal. They are in position to determine their own fate as they go to Florida, where their matches with Eclipse and Tophat will likely decide the division.Syracuse was a pleasant surprise for Region 1, with a much better showing that they had at Nationals in July. They haven't played some of the big guns yet, but the scored nice wins on the first two days, including downing a Tampa bay team that later knocked off both Carlsbad and Albion. After losing a two goal lead in their fourth game (a rematch of the Region 1 final), they cam back with a game-winner near the end of the match to knock off PWSI. They can finish in the top two with a strong showing in Las Vegas in March.Speaking of PWSI, if Syracuse was the pleasant surprise among the Region 1 teams, PWSI turned in the most disappointing showing. They looked completely discombobulated all weekend, giving up the most goals in the age group, including six to an Ambassadors team that only scored five other goals in three games. They have a short turnaround to get things back together, as they are headed to Florida in just three weeks.
Nice wrap. Fairly accurate from someone that has seen all these teams the last two years.Questions still remain.PDA a short stay in National League? Probably gone.PWSI -Peaked to soon and losing players? just one player.Eclipse- Whom traveled to NC? Two stars missing, only had 17 players that actually dressed.Legends-showed some promise.Coyotes-always get the best draw early in season and at tournaments. Hmmm...
Listen, captain know all...we watched the casl team in the saturday morning game as they was playing beforehand and the roster was almost completely different to the evening game...end of story. Whether the forward has played regularly with that team before or not, I can tell you she most definitely did not play in the prior two games that weekend. Parents alluded to the fact that she has been playing up all season and they brought her back down age appropriate for that particular game.
Well I caught the game she played - Ms SYFM. I also know from last year when our team played them twice that she played against our team. You made it sound like it was a whole new team and that the kid was never there before this season. Go look her up on the ECNL website and you can learn a thing or two. Your little dynamite team squeaked a win out against a 32 ranked ECNL team and for that matter barely beat a new formed MatchFit team in the finals 2-1. So lets be honest your team stuggles against alot of ECNL teams. Just look how you fared all last year and this year against any and all ecnl team you played. I would bet in any game that wasnt a friendly that you were no better the .500 against all ecnl team - so go fly a kite!!!!!

"Coyotes-always get the best draw early in season and at tournaments. Hmmm…" What are you alluding to? I could have sworn that they drew both Beading and Stallions in group play at regionals. That was the toughest group by far. They also drew Eclipse and the returning finalists (Tenn) at Nationals. They played in the top flight at the WAGS tournament. Nothing easy about their schedule; they play the same schedule that every other team in their National league group plays. You just sound like a jealous hater with nothing to back up your claim. You could actually say that not playing Eclipse this past weekend makes it harder because they will definitely have all their top players in Florida just like they did in Kansas.
For what it's worth, Coyotes got the exact same NL draw as did Eclipse.Last summer, there was much discussion about the Coyotes drawing Stallions and Beadling in pool play at Regionals, in what was widely regarded as by far the most difficult pool.Posters on this forum commented on the perceived difficulty of the Coyotes' pool at Nationals, with some predicting multiple losses. At WAGS in October, the Coyotes drew FC Virginia, Tampa Bay (who, as noted above, beat Albion and Carlsbad), and FC Philadelphia.Pretty sure the last time they had a truly soft draw was probably 2012 Regionals, but that only got them to the semis.I guess just about any schedule can look like a good draw when the team doesn't lose very often.
Re: the list of ECNL teams played by Stallions, almost all are ECNL Champions League teams (i.e. top 32) with 3 that were in ECNL Champions League National finals...and D'Feeters went to NA League National Finals. So as one would expect with all top non-ECNL teams, Stallions usually only playing best of ECNL (except for Orlando City of course) -- because lower level ECNL teams are not playing top bracket in tournaments. On the 10-0 blowout, please explain why that is a disgrace. It's not a disgrace for Stallions....only for tournament organizers. The US Nat'l teams routinely blow out teams like Guatemala, Jamaica, T&T, etc. by similar scores. How is this different?
FC Dallas and Dallas texans - did they not finish 3rd and 4th overall? Stallions beat both in the same day in their turf. Eclipse did they not become double national champions?? So we lost a game against them, on another day we could have won - I seem to remember having a very dubious goal disallowed. Stallions also beat this team 3-0 the prior time they played so they are 1-1. They meet again in Disney. As for Surf Cup, I challenge any region 1 team to go to CA, with the time difference, play on their fields for shortened games and come out winning. As it happens, on neutral ground both finalists at Surf the Dynamite won and tied previously (san juan at Disney). As for match fit......are you joking me???? After another perfectly fine goal disallowed in the opening minutes on top of the 2 goal lead and several other easy chances, that game to any on-looker was easily a 4-0 game. Match fit scored on a direct FK and that represented the teams only foray in to the Stallions half. Match fit was largely outplayed by the stallions B team. Go take a run! You are not even in a conversation.Fact is, Dynamite played 2 events at u16 and won them both, rolling by 5 ecnl teams in the process. Keep bashing all you want, Dynamite will never go away in this age group! They play a unique and eye catching style of play. Ask the 70 coaches in attendance for game 1 this weekend! I think they know more than you! Good luck with the kick and run match fit...see how much college interest it gets you!
btw I did check the ecnl website and that girl doesnt play for the casl U16's at all. She is on thier u17's with the best goals to game ratio in their team (5 in 8). She played #44 in the tournament, no player on their roster is 44. So I have no idea what you think you are talking about. As for the scores of games being close, so stallions are not that great BS....what a joke, was you at the games?? Now they have to blow out every team?? A team may bunker in to keep the score close, does that mean because they defended for an entire game that they are just as good? What do you think would happen to your team if you came out with the same attacking approach as the stallions against them?? Not many teams can do it. To many coaches just set up to defend and keep it 0 goals against. Not enough teams/coaches know how to really attack with style. Most teams look to stop top teams rather than have the bravery to go and attack them.
As an opponent, I can say that anyone who wants to belittle the Dynamite team just doesn't know what they are talking about. They are easily among the best 3-4 teams in Region 1 and the best 10-12 nationally. When you set out to play the best, you can't always win. But the Dynamite pretty much take on all comers any time, any place, and have for some time. Recognize them for what they are: an exceptional soccer team that represents the strength of Region 1 well.
Rolling through 5 ecnl teams? You played 4 of those games by a goal. Every ecnl team you play is by a goal but the poor team who is the worse team in the ecnl that you embarrassed 10-0. If you feel its ok to do that then you are sick and I hope your team pays for it. What goes around comes around. Ps you aren't other countries on a national stage have some humility you pos!
Like I said, watch the games and they might read a goal different, but it very rarely is a true reflection of the balance of the game. PDA game aside, the Dynamite was much more dominant than the score suggested...including the east meadow team that just defended for the whole game after their one opportunity was taken. And news flash...when you are showcasing, in front of college coaches, do you think it is a good idea to avoid scoring and turn away from the goal? Look at the ecnl results often blowouts for more dominant teams. Too many poor teams in all the leagues.
Your respect for teams and girls is poor. Your time will come and your coach will be eating crow. I am done with you. Go play the best ecnl teams and see what happens.
Coyotes >StallionsThey will always be second fiddle in this region!
It is always a good idea to respect the game and your opponent. No college coach will be less interested in a player who tries to avoid embarrassing her opponent in a clearly one-sided game. Obviously, I didn't see the match, but nothing so far suggests that any of the late goals were flukes; at some point (around 7 or 8, I would think), someone needed to say that enough was enough. I don't think many posters here doubt the talent level of the Stallions, and it's presumptive to say they will always be second fiddle in the region. But you can also see why they are such targets on this board. The Dynamite are no doubt both skilled and successful, but it's instances like this--and really, it's the defense as much as the action itself--that continue to make them the most disliked team in the region.
Well said! Great post.I lost some respect for that team but still respect the talent. The coach needs to be held accountable for his poor actions and allowing that to happen.
It was ugly. After 5-0 the girls started doing make-up extravagant goal celebrations like the pros. Arms like planes and soaring all around the field. Back flips and large group high fives and chest bumps. The college coaches were just as bad as they watched, they seem to feed on it. Sad thing is that it could have been 15 or 18-0 against that ecnl team instead of just a 10-0 humiliation. I think the water girl scored twice. She was offered a full ride by one college coach after the game.
Dynamite is a very good team. They would be in the top 15 of ECNL.let's see how they fare against eclipse at Disney. Against PDA both teams looked rusty, PDA had better chances, I think dynamite had 1 shot on goal in the second half, they did control the first 15 minutes of the first half. PDA has much better depth, 4 starters were injured, at least 2 dynamite players were injured.
AAU is a proud to sponsor the Emerald Cup 2014, providing families the opportunity to play soccer overseas in Ireland. Last year we took over 50 players/parents! This year we plan to head back to Ireland for the 25th annual Emerald Cup. We are holding our 3rd and final tryouts for our regional U13-U17 female teams on Saturday 1/11/14 9:00am-1:00pm at a TBD facility.Tryouts are by reservation only. For specific times please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call Chris at 732-778-9105
PDA had 2 opportunities in the game. They had the better of the last 20 minutes of the first half for sure and that is where their chances came (2). Prior to that, dynamite started stronger. Second half, forget it...it was all dynamite. They scored one and dubiously had another one ruled out. They controlled the play. put countless crosses in to the box, pda defended fairly well inside there own box when crosses came in but they offered very little threat of their own. PDA got a chance in the last minute that was very clearly offside but the 15 year old side ref didnt call but pda missed anyway. Other than that pda registered no shots on goal. Incidentally, all pda's big hitters played (including national team forward), even though they had some injuries (in a roster of 23 what do you expect?). Dynamite had 3 players out, all starters. No advantage there at all.It was a good game, with a fair result. Take your chances or lose. Dynamite lost to east meadow, because they couldn't convert when well on top and I say because of that alone, Dynamite deserved to lose that game as well. It is what the game is ultimately about. The next game it could well be a reverse, Dynamite beat EM and lose to pda, it wont make the teams any less of a force! Relax! Good luck the rest of the way. As for Dynamite being the most hated team....I really don't think so, not in the experience and respect shown from both sides whenever we play top teams all over. As for the 10-0, Dynamite has ALWAYS stopped scoring...last year there was multiple 8-0 games even when playing up that they stopped. In the OCYS game they actually stopped, but the coach of OCYS insisted they didn't stop. IMO it is worse and more embarrassing to just keep the ball for 10 minutes than to play the game right. Put an end to your nonsense people
So your last 2 sentence say you did stop but you didn't because its embarrassing. Your a p o s! I hope the coyotes continue to beat you since you can't seem to score against the real national team.
Dec 12, 1:22 It's not so clear what roster the ECNL team will play with at Disney. Many are dual rostered on the Eclipse Black team playing in National League in opposite bracket. Maybe they'll move players around between teams at the tournament, depending on the game. I assume that's possible. As has been stated earlier, the Eclipse Black team at USYS Nationals was almost entirely the ECNL team and same can be said of Eclipse Black team in National League last year.
Eclipse does it right. Has two teams and mixes and matches. Plays in both the top League(National League) and is the top ecnl team. Basically, has a pool of 20 very good players with a total roster of 36. Practices/training are top notch with that many players and enables them to play in many Tournaments/Leagues etc...
Actually they do it right from the start. Meaning they have a philosophy in the club and train that way from u6 on. That's what makes this club top notch.
Be a little disappionting to be that 21st player on the two team roster and maybe get a chance to travel but probably never play much. Just do not understand at this age why players stick around to be practice dumbies and finacial aid to the starters. "Hey college coach, that is my daughter over there under the blanket on the bench. She might play if the team gets up 4-0." I can justitify the 12th,13th and 14th player, and even the back-up goalie on a great team. But being the 17 ,18th player is... Go start, play and have fun playing on a very good team and get exposure by playing well instead of a roster player.
late to the game on this one, love the PDA Stallion game analysis from a few days ago. obviously the person was at the game, because there are some factual tidbits. Love to hear the game through a parent's eyes. we have just as many injuries, the breakaway was offsides, goal taken away by a mysterious call, we dominated, 15 year old side referee.....blah, blah, blah, the ugly step child craves respect
Re: Eclipse ECNL in Orlando, as a team, don't think the tournament has much significance to them. They are not part of ECNL National Event from Dec 28-30. So more likely they will concentrate on Eclipse Black, though I could see them moving players between teams during tournament.
WOW! National League was incredible!Maryland Rush Coyotes are still in the hunt but it will be tough after giving up the loss to Legends FC G97. Biggest dissapointment had to be PWSI Courage 97 Red, unbelievable. They have been so successful recently but overall have never been impressive. Last year was a great year but they still missed nationals, but boy has Syracuse Development Academy stepped up and proved to be the better team with the Region 1 win and National League results!
PDA another disappointment. Did not win a game in 4 matches 0-3-1.And did not even have one goal in the four matches. Had 4 players from Arsenal playing with Spurs and they were all excited before going to NC and falling WAY short. Most teams and clubs mix/match at big events. Eclipse, PDA, now SDA. Coyotes use to before the B team left coach or coach left team. Remember( B team, 2 nd second team, or practice team , whatever you want to call it. Just a way to finance the real team. Only 2-3 will ever get a shot at the main team and probably still only dress and not play.
Why bash a club for having more than one team? The comment about the 2nd team financing the first is ludicrous. Are you trying to say that only the 1st team or first team players have value? The second team is it's own team, competing at the level those players should be competing at. No different than if you picked up the 2nd team and moved them to another club or town. The one important difference is that by being the 2nd team at a prominent club, some players will get a chance to challenge themselves further with the 1st team from time to time. This is the same ridiculous argument that uneducated parents make at the younger ages when they move from the "B" team at the local town club to the "A" team at another local town club that plays 3 divisions below the "B" team they left. But hey, my kid plays for the "A" Travel team. Isn't she great!Utter nonsense! What really matters for all these players is that they play at a level that is appropriate and challenges them. If they are starting to push the limits on the second team, they should get shots with the 1st team. Not every kid will get that chance. But, every kid has an equal opportunity to compete for it. Some are good enough, some aren't. That doesn't mean those kids have less value or that their fees are paying the freight for others. Their fees pay for their team's expenses. When you make these statements, you show your ignorance and sound like a sore loser who's kid couldn't crack the 1st team lineup. Sorry your kid couldn't play at that level, but you know what, she's probably still a good player and she and her 2nd team teammates are deserving of your support, not your ridicule. Merry Christmas!
Good pionts all around. Issue is parents thinking that 1st team is best for thier kid, when in fact kid might be better off playing on a team that she can start and get lots of playing time. The kids want to play soccer in games, why put a kid through bing a fringe player on the best team?
I guess that's a matter of perspective and it depends on the kid.I'd rather my kid be a fringe player on one of the best teams and get top level training and compete against the best players daily than to play for a much lesser team with a few more minutes of playing time. Last time I checked, this was a team sport, not an individual sport. Only 11 can start and there will be injuries. Competition for playing time and for starting spots is good in team sports. If your kid really belongs on that #1 team, but isn't getting the playing time, instead of whining and complaining and feeling entitled, teach them to compete and work hard to earn their way. What is your kid going to do in the real world when they get a job? When the going gets tough and the job gets hard, will they work harder and overcome adversity or will they move on to something lesser because they couldn't face the competition?Again, I think it's a matter of perspective and personality. Some like to compete at the highest levels to challenge themselves, even if they aren't one of the best yet, because they know it will make them better. Others, well, the world needs ditch diggers too.
What is the link for the National league would love to check it out?

12/18- 10:49 So which Eclipse team played in the top bracket? It was listed as the ECNL side. Not a good showing for what is presumed to be their top team. Or do I have it wrong, the Eclipse Black side played in the 2nd tier? Which team is considered the top side? How did they roster the different sides? What caused the ECNL side to disappoint? Injuries? Thanks.
There is no difference between the Black and Red; four NL and four showcase teams in each. All of Eclipse's top players played with the Black (National League) team. ECNL side filled with second tier players (virtually none of whom appear on the Eclipse ECNL roster), which explains the results this week. Except for today's tanking against Waza, that is.
Don't want to ruffle anyone's feathers, but is it typical for the ECNL side to consist of "2nd tier players"? Everything I've ever heard from ECNL parents is that they always roster the top players in the club. Apparently that's not so.
As someone mentioned earlier, the National League team had something meaningful to play for; the ECNL team did not. As far as college coaches watching games, that didn't matter either, with plenty at all games. So Eclipse changed their roster to give them the best chance to win National League.
I spoke with an eclipse parent this afternoon and ask them about the waza match. They said waza played great and that eclipse didn't finish but they alos lost because the national players didn't play many minutes so the other could get looked at as they arleady had the national league divison locked up at 6-0 prior to the match. It was about some of the others getting good time and looks.
Probably wasn't a brilliant move. 4th place for their top team in the third tier flight? And the ECNL team, well they did worse than that, at least they were in the top flight. I know you said it didn't mean anything to them, but perhaps there isn't enough top talent to split between the two teams and carry the day.
So what is your point? So when the playoffs come around you know the big guns will be playing then how will your team do?
Maybe the point is that with all the mixing and matching of players and rosters the players themselves are not getting the advantages they might learning how to play with a set roster against the top competition available. And pity the ECNL squad- what does the rostering this week say about their skill level and training seeing the results they brought. They can't win a game?? And the supposed "A" team with the national players- 4th place in the 2nd tier. Congratulations on winning a berth in the Nat, but really, do you think coaches are looking for players that can turn on and off their desire to score and win games or are they seeking players that have a consistent and competitive attitude. Speaks to the lessons of character that these players may not be receiving. This is a coaching issue.Oh, and BTW, having the "other" Eclipse team screaming and yelling on the sidelines throughout the games may rile up the opposition parents but it obviously isn't having much, if any, effect on the opposition players themselves. Maybe the focus for your coaches should be on providing more complete training for your players rather than using sideline tactics of intimidation. That obviously isn't working. Maybe then the coaches will reward your best players by allowing them the best competition instead of trying to win a berth through some roster trickery. After all, what did the coaches at the ECNL games see as far as those girls' showcases. Not much to work with, I suppose.
Congratulations to the NJ Stallions Dynamite for coming back this year and taking home the trophy. Truly one of the best teams in this age group.
This age group is weak. I watched several games in the u 16 age group top flights and was shocked at how poor the soccer being played was. Very few teams can string 4 plus passes together. Really disappointed.
5:05.. what a clown.. that is so far from the truth, of the 3 Showcase brackets, the second bracket clearly had teams flighted wrong as there were several lopsided games. The 3rd B bracket was extremely competitive with very good soccer being displayed, the scores reflected that. The 1st bracket had very good teams playing very good soccer. You clearly came on here to start the foolishness with that comment, I pray nobody feeds into it and can give an educated opinion on the weekend.
I feel badly for you if your definition of good soccer involves less than 3 connected passes before every long ball. Ask our u17 National Team who lost to Mexico if I am a clown. Did you go see the u17 team from Japan? If you did, you would have seen real soccer. Not the crap most of our girls play. The closest to decent soccer this age group plays is Eclipse when they have all their players.
Excuses, excuses. Eclipse was outplayed all week long. And you had nothing to do with the U-17 team from Japan. Neither did anyone from Eclipse. Yes, you are a clown.

PDA Shore is bornIt is with great pride and excitement that PDA and the Toms River Football Club announce the strategic partnership of two of the top soccer programs in New Jersey. TRFC becomes the first affiliate member with the PDA and will look to draw the top players from TRFC and the Jersey Shore. "PDA is very excited about all the possibilities with TRFC", said Mike O'Neill the Girls Director of Coaching at PDA. "We are one of the top youth clubs in the country with a great history of player development. Forming an affiliation with TRFC was an opportunity to extend the PDA family to an area with a large pool of players while working with great people. The affiliation is very important to PDA and I look forward to working side by side with TRFC."Through the affiliation, PDA and TRFC will be working together to provide a foundation of quality and experienced coaches that will allow top players the opportunity to develop and compete at the highest level. PDA and TRFC have experienced leadership and a proven track record for player development."We have been approached many times about forming affiliations with soccer clubs," said Tom Anderson the President and Founder of PDA, "With TRFC we know they share the same philosophy for player development. This is our first affiliation and both sides have spent the last 6 months working together to ensure success both on and off the field".PDA will hire a Director of Coaching who will oversee a coaching staff that will implement PDA's model for player development. Players from Toms River and all along the Jersey Shore will have the opportunity to train and compete in a high level environment. "We are extremely excited to join the PDA family, "said Carl Leschinski the Elite Director at TRFC." Lou Santa Cruz, Director of Education and Licensing for Toms River FC stated, "We are extremely excited about the affiliation and looking forward to working side by side with PDA towards the continued development of youth soccer along the Jersey Shore."All teams will train and compete in Toms River, NJ.
Are the stallions not going to jeffcup or did not make top flight? Jeffcup tweeter the top flights today but stallions weren't on list. Why are the ecnl teams going? Pda. Fc bucks. Fc Virginia?

Rest of the list comes on 21st per the website.I count 15 teams above that would be an odd number. I wonder if they are missing someone to make 16 and I wonder if they missed the #1 team in this region and winner of Jeff Cup last year "NJ Stallions:If I had to do the top 8 for flight 1 it would be as such. How do you know?
Friend with Richmond club.
I guess pda rather play FCV then nj stallions or fc brucks
Probably not possible, but in general it would be good to group teams that don't play each other much. This would be a little better, but still not perfect:Bucks, MRM, Ponte Vedra, StallionsPDA, FCV, PWSI, SDAPDA, PWSI and MRM will play each other in Feb at PWSI Showcase.
Didn't stallions just play ponte? It should be the following.PdaCoyotesFCVPontStallionsSdaPwsiBucks
FCV and MRM played at WAGS in October. Don't think MRM has ever played Bucks or PV.
Thats all great but these are the groupsFCV, PDA, MRM, SDAStallions, Bucks, Ponte Vedra, PWSI
General rule should be to separate MRM/PWSI, PDA/Stallions, PDA/Bucks since they play each other in league or relatively frequently...and in some cases occasionally scrimmage against each other. MRM and Stallions and MRM and FCV have played each other many times -- but not that frequently. PWSI and SDI have also played a lot against each other recently. The breakdown above wasn't bad.
Maybe one of the teams should move out of the bracket? Nothing wrong with that. Why play same team's over and over. Second flight is just as deep and would be some new comp!
Stallions FCVFc bucksPwsiPdaMrmPontSda
MRM Coyotes will play Stallions in final. Bucks will not score and PDA will not win even one game.
Final of what troll? Your obviously not a u16 kid or parent or you would know its showcase format. Meaning there is no playoffs dope!3 games total 1 per day.
Those aren't even the brackets. U peeps r nuts
Wouldn't it be great to have this group:BucksStallions PDAMRM
Why so whey game can be zero zero or maybe 1zip? I think if those 4 teams wanted to get together they easily coukd. There isnt a huge distance separating those 4 teams. They all could meet up in middle somewhere and at most 1.5 hour drive. Plus all those teams scrimmage or play eqchother behind scenes that no-one knows about because its not on gotsoccer.
Whwy = every
I cast my vote for the group listed by January 23, 2014 10:40 PM. That would be fun to watch and great for the players.

PDA vs MRM once and for all. Winner takes all bragging rights. This could be the last time the two teams ever play again in a scheduled tournament.
Its a showcase and MRM will be missing players for ODP Russia trip.
so will pdaI guess we will see who has the deepest bench then
Most MRM Coyotes chose not to play ODP this season. Only two on the 97s and none on 98s.The slow defender girl dropped out. Both Benches are weak after the first 13/14. Roster fillers.\/$$$
Id rather see NJU vs FCV and FCB then MRM vs PDA.
you people have no clue-- Nobody from PDA is on ODP -- second of all how well do you think these games are going to be when neither team has practiced outside yet.Third nobody cares about rankings any more it is all about college recruitment.I am sure it will be a good game but winner takes all bragging rights??? Really ??Get a life
I think you will find that the 97 players from MRM are also not doing ODP this year. Participation in the Russia trip is based on playing ODP last year.Further, anyone who attaches any significance to match results at Jefferson Cup merely demonstrates the depths of his ignorance. Stallions, PDA, and MRM have already acquitted themselves against the best that the region and the nation have to offer. Certainly, none of them have anything to prove in Richmond.Instead, the previous poster is correct: the primary focus at this point is finding the right fit for college.Oh, and by the way, everyone who speculated on this board about groups was wrong; seems there are none, just each team plays three games, not necessarily against common opponents: http://events.gotsport.com/events/schedule.aspx?EventID=32803&GroupID=291526&Gender=Girls&Age=16
Not that it is a big deal, but the original poster had the groups right. He didn't say they would cross over he just had the teams that would be playing each other correct.
If college is now the focus, How does the 17th,18th,19th player's on these teams benefit? Is just being on one of these teams good enough to get looks and offers? No question that the starters on all the above teams will get opportunities to play college, and some have offers already, But what about the others? Is it better to BE on a great team, or play and start for a very good team?
PDA has been slightly above average at best. They have alot to prove in my eyes. Who was their last quality win against a big time ranked team? I agree MRM and NJS are top notch teams but I wouildnt but PDA with those two or even third in that flight.
FC Philadelphia is the team to beat.
Rankings are not perfect, but can give a good idea of quality teams in groups of Top 10, or top 20, or even for that matter a top 50.PDA Arsenal is 176th. ? Do colleges even look at teams out of the top 100 ? What about the non-starters on a 176th team ?
FC Philadelphia cant buy a win. What are they like 1-9-6 their last 16 or something crazy like that.Scrappy little team that ate up all the points in 2nd and 3rd tier flight. Then over the past year they were flighted with the big girls and it hasnt been pretty.
College coaches care less for the ranking of the team than about the skills and potential of the player. PDA's GS ranking is irrelevant; it just means they don't play in very many events that earn them GS points. But the ECNL events allow them to play in front of plenty of college coaches, and I would think that the involvement of college coaches with the PDA program and the presence of national team players increase the opportunities for everyone to be noticed. As to other question, that is often raised in attempt to stir something up. While every kid would prefer playing over not playing, sometimes training with a better team (even if you play less in matches) can be exactly what the kid needs to become college-ready. And there are avenues beyond match play with the club team that enable a player to be evaluated by college coaches.
"Anonymous said...FC Philadelphia is the team to beat.February 19, 2014 at 4:19 PM"And all three of their opponents will likely do just that...
I would just add to 12:05 by saying that though the statement about ranking is true, the level and success of the team matters as well as it is a strong indicator of the qualities of the individual players. In assessing the skills and potential of players, it surely would take some guesswork out of the equation to see those players play against top competition. That's why college coaches generally don't bother to watch high school games.
Does anyone use Captain U. Any thoughts good bad? Thanks
Waste of money
Hey coach, Thanks for coming, sorry you didn't get to see me play today. Tomorrow we play a real bad ecnl team, so I should get some playing time.
Arsenal with good start to the ecnl. 2 wins, Go PDA
Both matches where pretty even. Both pa teams played great. Both games could of went either way.Great start to the season.
