4 2001 players from NJ as well

What level of costs are involved to attend an ODP National Training Camp in Fla?

Anonymous said...

Yes - Congrats! I don't believe that you have to pay for the national camp.

Does the player on the 2000 team from brick currently play for the U14 Team - Brick Fury?

It will be a great experience for those selected.

Anonymous said...

What do you mean you do not have to pay? How are the costs covered for the time and training in Florida?

Anonymous said...

True ussf national team camp u14 or u15 gnt is free including transportation. Id2 is free excluding transportation which can be very expensive. Odp "national camp" is far from free. There are several hundreds of dollars in fees and transportation costs.

Anonymous said...

ODP National camp is a little more than $300 but no more than $350. That covers camp, hotel and meals for the players. Families pay for their own transportation including their daughter.

Anonymous said...

Eco website has a game today at 415 between IGFA and tsf. Is that really happening?

Anonymous said...

Who covers the costs for ussf and id2 camps?

Anonymous said...

Jeff Cup teams are posted.

Coach at TSF cancelled for the fourth time today. J&&@@ off !! He should just forfeit... Purposely jeopardized GFA first place finish.

Anonymous said...

It was disgraceful. Anyone who is associated with the TSF academy should be ashamed.

GFA completely cleared the soccer field from light snow powder, you could not see one spot on the playing area with any snow.

TSF boys with the coach had 1.5 hours full sided games/practice before the game on the same field.

All GFA girls were warming up before the game for 40 mins, while TSF girls were standing to the last minute on the field on which the same academy was running full-sided practice (like they were directed that something will make GFA suffer).

TSF which was running the practice before the game decided to tell refs that they can't play girls game because it was too dangerous.

What a shame. For GFA it was a championship game which they could not play again and again because of the politics of the TSF academy - still can't calm down after their 3 best players left to play for GFA.

EDP should take care of this ASAP.

TSF Academy - it is pretty embarrassing what you have shown to the 13-14 years old girls and their parents. Shame on you!!!

Anonymous said...

So, how it is possible that TSF left boys played - did not cut the practice but played for 1.5 hours, and suddenly decided that the field was too dangerous to play?

Since the TSF coach canceled games in the past (check his record), now he is doing the same thing to GFA, EDP should organize the game, send their officials to the game, and let GFA destroy this weak team who has no guts playing...or the coach doesn't.

If TSF is rewarded with the forfeit point - this would embrace TSF's unethical behavior and tactics.

Anonymous said...

Do you think such a circus is possible in ECNL league?

Anonymous said...

We (GFA) were ready and eager to play this game and finish our season, but, in all honesty, I don't think we can say TSF cancelled. There were three Refs inspecting all parts of the field for 20 minutes and apparently they deemed it unsafe.

Anonymous said...

You know it is BS, just ask your coach why refs decided not want to play the game after liability threats from your coach...Which ref would play the game after this threat? Refs had no business in this mess...

Why your coach complained about the safety but played with boys 1.5 full sided games just before the game? You know the answer.

Or, why would could not play the game with your team for so long - the same coach was playing rescheduling/not available game for many times?

Don't camouflage the truth, please!

Anonymous said...

TSF coach is setting a bad example for his players. He is a joke to the system, youth development and the TSF organization. There was nothing wrong with the field and that is the bottom line.

11 NJ teams. 9 of the best 10 NJ teams representing at Jeff Cup, all but Splash. I'm not counting Madrid or Hornets...

GFA
Brick
Stallions

Rush
STA
SJEB
Crush
Real

Good luck ladies!

TSF coach a disgrace. What happened today was an embarrassment for TSF . He didn't want to play but didn't want to forfeit so organize this shameful plan to obtain what he wants and they let him do it. Unbelievable. Field in perfect condition with teams practicing in full field since 9 am . TSF parents why you tolerate something like that?? Are you part of this scam?

Anonymous said...

Uh...the USSF covers the cost of USSF YNT camps
I believe Nike covers id2. Maybe a contribution from us club soccer also. They are the administrators.

Anonymous said...

Nothing new from TSF coach he always end the season with skipping games and manage to settle on ties without playing. Parents are part of this scam otherwise they would have said something even today. The fact that they do not say anything stated this clearly. Technically you are a mediocre team but in terms of sportsmanship you are the worst in state.

Anonymous said...

I cant believe TSF Academy would let this to happen. No respect to girls and parents who drove over 1 hour to the game to see this ridiculous circus. TSF=NO CLASS.

Anonymous said...

TSF parents silent is even worst than what their coach did today. It shows that they are as bad. I would blame the parents for backing up such behavior . So unprofessional and sneaky. Horrible example for a 13 years old group of girls. They should go back and play recreational soccer . they did it with us last season where they end up not playing the last game and our coach was forced to compromise. League should take care of this problem with this club.

Anonymous said...

TSF coach is a clown and know for his funny business. This is all about him trying not to play to gain a tie which would put him out of the bottom 2 in the group and avoid relegation. He is playing games and IGFA should be awarded the win by forefit.

Anonymous said...

"Does the player on the 2000 team from brick currently play for the U14 Team - Brick Fury?"

She sure does. But, that can't happen to all of the ECNL know it alls on here. Like was said, if you're good enough, someone will hear about it and find you.

Anonymous said...

ACOORDING to all of the ECNL know it alls on here.

Anonymous said...

Why do you blame the parents ? Parents do what tne coach says or risk putting their kid in a sticky situation

Anonymous said...

If EDP wants to protect its status, TSF should be eliminated from
the top teams. It is unbelievable what has happened today. If EDP does not take care of this, teams should look for an alternative. It is a joke.

Anonymous said...

It was not a joke game. It was deciding about the champs of the league. If the EDP does nothing, it will proof that it is not top level league.

Anonymous said...

Is there a deadline to play this game ? All the league has to do is make sure it's played. How can it not be played at some point ? Play it indoors then.

Anonymous said...

11:05 I am sorry but do not agree. I am not part of any of these two teams but knowing the reputation of TSF coach I will not accept to have my daughter put in that situation. If I show up to the field for a game and I see the field is good and everything is ok I am not going to be part of something so sneaky and unprofessional.

Anonymous said...

TSF parents kept their daughters inside cars in the parking lot following instruction from their coach until 15 min before game time. Refs came in checked the field , checked the girls and rosters collected the fee and then when they went to TSF bench everything change as the coach put out a show and game was not played. Parents keep follow your coach like sheep , good teaching for your daughters. Well done

Anonymous said...

Mine doesn't play for either team as well , not even this age group, but surely you understand what I am getting at. What would you have done ? You can play if the coach says not playing (not debating if he's right or wrong here ).
i don't know this coach however or what else he is supposed to have done at other games.
But what does saying the field is unsafe accomplish ? Doesn't the game have to be played eventually ?

Anonymous said...

1118 so you would have stormed the field with the girls ! Like brave heart ?

Anonymous said...

No but I would hope that some of those parents would come here and said something about complaining with their own coach or at least admitting that what was done was against any sportsmanship in youth sport. The silent and the action today just confirm that they knew what was going on and they were part of it . That is sad.

Anonymous said...

Hopefully TSF will be put down in second division where they belong and be forgotten for good.

Anonymous said...

You assume they all come on here like we do. Maybe they have lives. Lets hope they take it up with the org. I'm sure most if not all of them had no idea this was going to happen. In fact how could anyone have known ? If there hasn't been any snow recently how would he have engineered this ?

Anonymous said...

1133 you take joy in this. What about the girls ?
And all this is still hearsay. For all you know Maybe that is exactly what did happen.

Anonymous said...

Who is the coach ?

Anonymous said...

11:36 sorry to say but if you are in the league with TSF some teams end up playing less games. They still pay full registration fee but they get neglected to play a game because the coach doesn't want to play for whatever reason. It happened every season in the pat three years . Other team compromised with agreeing on a tie. IGFA wanted to play the game for months and what was pull today was something disgusting.

Anonymous said...

I just read all the posts related to game yesterday and as a TSF parent I am really embarassed. The field was in good condition and there were not reason in my opinion not to play the game. Our coach didn't want to play this game . We lost three top players to GFA and he is doing everything he can to create problem to them. GFA showed up and put everything ready to play in a professional matter. I am evaluating my staying with an organization that gives an immature coach this kind of authority to pull something so unfair in relation to sport. My apologies to all the fellow parents that were at the game yesterday. I hope EDP makes us forfeit the game as it would be the only way to save face somehow.

Anonymous said...

So, GFA spent on resources to prepare fields. TSF Academy comes and enjoys for couple hours beautiful field playing full side games on it, and then when it comes to the game, they say it is not playable? Am I missing anything?

Anonymous said...

TSF is known as a lower team outside of NJ as they were correctly rejected by the Jeff Cup along with Holmdel, Wildcasts, NJCSA,SJA FC, Watchung.

http://www.gotsport.com/events/teamlist.asp?eventid=39085&SHOWALL=TRUE

Anonymous said...

EDP should fine TSF and keep them in the league if they guarantee that it will do everything so this will not happen.

Plus, TSF Academy should be a class and reimburse parents for wasting their time and money.

And finally, TSF should fire this dude for good to clear their reputation...

Anonymous said...

7:55 that is correct. Money and time spent in cleaning up the field for two days in order to prep the field. After they took advantage their coach left with a grin on his stupid face yesterday all proud of himself and nobody told him anything. His DOC was there too and he was running practice on the same field for two hours . I do not understand how a professional organization allows such a behavior .

Anonymous said...

A perfect cookbook for a coach on "How to get points from games you can't win".

Just play a re-scheduling game for couple months until there is chance to find an excuse because of the cold weather. Then get points from the forfeit - "tie".

What a "great" precedence EDP league.

9 Teams from NJ going to Jeff Cup. Flight Predictions?

Flight 1 - 0
Flight 2 - 2
Flight 3 and below - 7

Anonymous said...

I've been reading the post on here between igfa tsf im confused ... If tsf doesn't like igfa ... Why does igfa use tsf coaches to run practices doesn't make any sense . It's crazy to me ... Someone please explain ... Why would the DOC of tsf not say anything if he was there especially if he was there practicing .

Anonymous said...

New team being formed, TSFIGFA.

Anonymous said...

It's a joke lol .... Lol at the new name

Anonymous said...

How can these 2 clubs be in partnership if players are leaving TSF to join GFA? I thought they were all one big happy family?

Anonymous said...

Correct. That is why TSFIGFA is being formed. The players that dont make TSFIGFA will play on the second team (we dont like to say B) and will be called AFGIFST.

Anonymous said...

nobody cares about those twq, this blog is for soccer talk not crybabies

Anonymous said...

Wow! Wildcats didn't get accepted to Jeff Cup. Thought they were great according to a parent/coach.. Lol

Anonymous said...

lots of strong teams at Jeff Cup. It will be interesting to see how the NJ teams do against the out of state competition.

Anonymous said...

I'm sure most of you are sick of this talk, but I just read all the comments on GFA/TSF. TSF parents and girls were not complicit in any nonsense and we sincerely hope that the game on Sunday was not intentionally stalled. We were told that earlier games were cancelled by GFA. We held the whole weekend (as well as several other days) to play this game and many of us also travelled distances to get there. Our coach did receive several calls and emails throughout the week from parents who thought it was ridiculous to play and risk injury. Four girls did not show up to the game, presumably bc the parents did not feel it was safe (leaving a roster of 11). In all fairness, who else is playing outdoor games in January? It looked to me like the 3 Refs were examining the field carefully. I would really hate to believe that our Coach influenced them...I would have a big problem with that. Yes, I think he was happy not to play in these conditions with no substitites. And, yes, I think he seemed amused to see the GFA coach (who did poach 3 players - two in the middle of the season), go ballistic screaming in Italian. Parents did complain to our coach when the game was cancelled, however he emphasized that we didn't cancel but rather the conditions weren't safe. We have a nice group of players and parents who enjoy the game and try not to get caught up in all the smack talk - we don't want any animosity with GFA. This is completely between the coaches.

Anonymous said...

9.20 keep yourself in the little bubble your coach prepare for you.ask the parents that left if they were poached as you said . why you and all the other parents stayed in the car and send the girls out only ten minutes before play time. i heard clearly your coach telling them to stay in the car . what safety issues? your coach doesn't want to play this game period.
your DOC confirmed the game the night before after inspecting the field. YOUR DOC directed a practice on the same field for two hours prior to the game so where are the safety issues? as i said keep stay in your bubble and one day you will wake up and realize how much damage your coach did to your daughter. IGFA stayed in the field and run a practice while you all sneak out following the smirk of our coach. good example for your daughter. Now i am sure everybody is tired of this kind of conversation so lets talk about Jefferson cup ..oh sorry you got rejected i forgot.

Anonymous said...

smirk of YOUR coach not our sorry.

Anonymous said...

earlier games cancelled by gfa??? lol yes like the saturday where we had the game scheduled for two weeks but then it was cancelled because tsf girls were having a Christmas party? keep believing your coach.

Anonymous said...

To 9:20am:

I do believe that you, like most soccer families, are very sincere in the efforts you put forth for your daughter to be successful at soccer and at life in general.
GFA, while a new creation, is run by a very dedicated, focused and ambitious coach. He has created a team without poaching because he offers a very serious but fun training environment. I have been approached many many times by parents at tournaments inquiring about tryout opportunities...the product sells itself...you can ask the parents of the players that left, you know them, pick up the phone before you insist GFA was underhanded. TSF received a large number of players from GFA U13 on short notice...parents do what is best for their children...simple. No grudges...they are kids!!
As for your U14 coach, I personally heard him melodramatically claiming to the referees the field was a liability and safety concern...game over!! As you read in previous posts, the field was used for two hours before by U18 TSF men and for 1hr after the cancelled game...no injuries.
The refs were forced to cancel based on a melodramatic appeal to lawyers and liability to the refs...I heard him...very sad example to girls competing in a very demanding sport that requires integrity all around to be successful. I feel for the TSF girls who showed up to play, no matter the result or circumstances, but were manipulated by a coach who lacks honor or the character to continue as their coach...a blight on TSF. Both TSF and EDP need to take action. This is a farse.

Anonymous said...

TSF coach showed zero confidence in his girls by playing all these games. If it were my team, I would be out now.

Anonymous said...

boo hoo. stop your crying igfa, the field was not safe. move on.

Anonymous said...

Ok, where did you find the Jefferson Cup flights? This is all I could find and it says they will be released Friday, 1-16:

"(Via Richmond Strikers) – With the 2015 Jefferson Cup kicking off in less than three months, the competition brackets have been set and the tournament’s top flights will be announced at the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Convention in Philadelphia on Friday, January 16.

Jefferson Cup top brackets will be announced at the Jefferson Cup/Richmond Strikers booth in the Pennsylvania Convention Center’s Exhibit Hall A on Friday, the first full day of the exhibition floor being open. The brackets will be displayed via PowerPoint with the boys presentation starting at 10 a.m. and the girls beginning at 1 p.m.
"

Anonymous said...

3:53, they are not posted yet. I believe the post regarding Jeff Cup flights was asking people to predict how the NJ teams would be flighted.

Anonymous said...

Some players prefer the safety of heated cars, some like to get outside in the cold and play ball!

Anonymous said...

Some coaches are afraid to just play.

Anonymous said...

Some teams are always on this blog whining about something.

Anonymous said...

Not a parent of either team BUT IF the TSF coach did this (and he probably did), he's only making it worse for his kids. Eventually they'll meet on the field when he can no longer duck IGFA and IGFA is going to crush them and probably pour it on just to prove a point.

Anonymous said...

Sure you're not an IGFA parent! You people are the worst.

Anonymous said...

Just very hard to understand the "unsafe" field claim. These soccer kids are tough kids (both teams). They are fine playing outside in the cold.

Anonymous said...

8:19 I do not think and 6,45 and some above are IGFA parents. If you are you know better and you know to stay away from this blog or comments. Whatever happened happened.

Anonymous said...

Why stay away IGFA? What will happen?

Anonymous said...

Now TSF is ducking the reschedule

Anonymous said...

TSF also ducked out of a LI game last spring but they didn't care enough to chase them for a rematch.

Anonymous said...

Of course IGFA cares since it can costs them the #1 in EDP league which would put them in #1 in NJ + up in the region + national ranking.

Why TSF should care? The team would be risking getting demolished. Now, it would be even worse after the circus TSF has created in the last couple years...

Anonymous said...

This team whatever they call themselves GFA or IgFA needs to stop. Who cares!??! Can we please post about something interesting?

Anonymous said...

8:01 absolutely right. COPA COPA COPA!

Anonymous said...

who cares?you should...they are the best team in nj and the only team that will be in top bracket at jeff cup from nj....so be ready....

Anonymous said...

I wish them well

THe notion that they dont poach is comical.

Anonymous said...

7:59 and 10:15 not igfa parents . Please stop creating problems

Anonymous said...

10:21 any real example? Please

Anonymous said...

You people have no idea what you are talking about if GFA plays & beats TSF & takes 1st place in the North they will only receive 1,098 more pts for 1st + an additional 30 points for the win which places them still in 3rd place in NJ which for all that they have accomplished so far is still too high but time will tell as SJEB & NJ Crush are better but maybe after the Spring season they will have really earned that #3 spot but for now lets calm down as you parents are already getting a bad rep.

Anonymous said...

"they are the best team in nj and the only team that will be in top bracket at jeff cup from nj....so be ready.... "

No they aren't (see above you in rankings), and no, they won't.

Anonymous said...

Problems? You have enough problems with that crybaby. ..please someone says some positive about your team and you make it negative. ..you Have the problem

Anonymous said...

Ahh, I remember the good old days when we all could laugh at the Jackson/NJF/Holmdel fiasco. IGFA/TSF have decided NOT to learn.

Anonymous said...

9:59 and 10 and 10;04 you are stupid if you think that those comments are coming form the team in question. you know better . in this blog lots of people have lots of time in their end and since it has been kind of boring in the off season why not spice it up with some comments to piss off people and have a reaction. you know that as it happened many times. i can start one right now and go on for two days based on nothing and for a week more we are going to fall and start to comments and trash a team.
whoever does this things please stop you are hurting teams that work really hard and group of young girls that are good and do not deserve this kind of treatment. ANY TEAM AND ANY GIRL

Anonymous said...

Oh, so they played the game then?

Anonymous said...

Sjeb was a one trick pony they are done,nj crush?they still play?we all know who is the real #1

Anonymous said...

Please no one else would be wondering if GFA ever played their game vs TSF other then them. They are so obsessed with getting any kind of validation that they are a good team that it's got to be embarrassing to their club.

Anonymous said...

No NJ teams in top flight at Jeff Cup. 4 ECNL teams: Bethesda, FC VA, Richmond Strikers and FC Bucks. Other teams are Triangle NC, NYSC, Clay Cty SC Black Fla, Premier Strikers MD.

Based on this many NJ teams will be in flight 2, 3 or even 4.

Anonymous said...

That just goes to show what those outside looking in feel about jersey soccer at this age group. Although it sucks I do have to say that they got it right.

Anonymous said...

So many good teams why only a bracket A and B. Could have easily had a C and even a D bracket

Anonymous said...

3:14 it also shows the weight ECNL clubs carry. 50% of the top flight.

Looking at the balance of the clubs that are left to be flighted I don't think NJ will have more than 2 teams above flight 3. Many teams are going to be playing flight 4 and below.

Anonymous said...

I agree. There are some damn good teams left. Lucky to see more than 1 jersey team in the second flight. Long way to drive for 3rd, 4th and 5th flight play.

Anonymous said...

Predictions?

Anonymous said...

You can say what you want about The Force but they were clearly the best team in the age group at the time. If they were to assemble again it would be the same way!

Anonymous said...

What's with the random Force post?

Anonymous said...

4:01 I predict we see teams like Crush, Real,STA, and Copa in the bottom 2 flights.

Anonymous said...

LOL @ FC Bucks! they're not better than the top 4 or 5 NJ teams.

Anonymous said...

"You can say what you want about The Force but they were clearly the best team in the age group at the time. If they were to assemble again it would be the same way!"

By that theory, Brick should be the best now, right?

Anonymous said...

Brick IS THE BEST! Best team in NJ by far. Dominate everyone.

Anonymous said...

The top team picture in NJ will change over the next few months as teams lose kids to PDA and MF. It happens at this age every year. Both programs will end up with very strong NPL and ECNL teams. Just look at the older teams they have now. Then look at the older teams in the other clubs program. No comparison.

Anonymous said...

Not even sure of why there is talk about the Force but I don't believe anyone other then them thought they were the best team in NJ. Americans, Brick, SJEB & STA were all better then them while they were here. I guess the Brick reference is due to the fact that they picked up some of their players but didn't MF, Freehold & Copa too? I would say by looking at this past season & seeing what all the top 10 teams did you would have to put Brick #1 because they faced everyone else there & has wins over SJEB, GFA, Stallions & NJ Crush & no other team can say the same. I would still have to say the top 3 are still PDA, Brick & SJEB until they really start going downward. Hard to still rank PDA since the last time they played any of these teams they lost to SJEB but I'm sure at least at their tournament they'll get to play them again so we'll see & GFA had a very nice season finally playing in top flights but 1 final doesn't get you there yet but could be the next team to join the top 3 only time will tell but my advice is stay off the blog bragging because it will only hurt your reputation & when you don't make it to the top ie Jackson & Freehold you will get destroyed on here. Real top teams don't care what people say they just take care of business & don't worry about jealousy. Good luck to all teams this coming season & let's try not to make this age group the trash group on this blog.

Anonymous said...

What about MF did they poach any more players this year?how come they are not playing at jeff cup?

Anonymous said...

MF has 31 players rostered & with all that they still aren't doing well in league play. Anyone that would go there to be part of that is crazy! They already lost their academy status with the boys & who knows how long they will be aloud to compete on the ECNL.

Anonymous said...

But they are the top ecnl team in nj and have the best players from nj and pay the most money for the top training on a gym floor? When are tryouts?

Anonymous said...

Pda the only team from nj that can play with region 1 teams, not one team has won outside of nj

Anonymous said...

From U14-U18 PDA and MFA are both top 20 programs in the country. PDA is stronger, but both are exceptional. Is a rumor that ECNL will add a 3rd NJ club in the next round.

Anonymous said...

"Brick IS THE BEST! Best team in NJ by far. Dominate everyone. "

Yeah, no one from Brick would ever say this. We let our track record and play do the talking. No need to toot any horn. Trolling at its finest.

Anonymous said...

Brick?? WHEre has the Wildcats been? Heard they rostered 20! Didn't get accepted to Jeff cup?? Is it true?

Anonymous said...

Wildcats are trying to get to academy level. Won't happen still taken girls from town teams.

Anonymous said...

MF is really trying to convince you they are a top club like PDA but they don't match up anywhere to prove that point. Show me the team from MF that has beaten a PDA team. MF could be replaced in the ECNL & the team in this age group with 30+ players don't go anywhere to play anyone & especially stays away from other NJ teams so they don't get exposed. Keep drinking the koolade which is quite pricy.

Anonymous said...

MF is going to be the best team in NJ ! Brick GFA etc .. Are nothing compare to MF.
The girl that moved this season with them is the best player in the state but the other are good too

Anonymous said...

I see that girl is back on here or her parents as they reference the 2 teams that have done better after that player left their teams. Sad really that the player & parents have to try to promote her so badly because in games against the top teams she has never faired well or stood out which is the true test of a top player. MF will be another team which will do better after that family leaves mark my words. MF team couldn't beat Brick or GFA but you'll never see them play those teams because then you would have to explain to the parents why they are paying so much money for very little other then being in a league where they are towards the bottom of their flight.

By the way, she is a national ODP player at an age when most of the top players are participating. There are clearly those who disagree with your assessment. Will be interesting to see which '01 players are called into USSF national camp this year. Don't be surprised to see her name on the list at some point.

Well unfortunately this is not true,

Girls from PDA did not participate in the ODP experience.

Many better2001's girls on the u14 and u13 team.

ODP regional team is a nice accomplishment for the girls but lets not exaggerate the quality.

USSF camps for 2001 already taking place. if she is part of that then she has a chance, otherwise, family is paying a large some of money for a good experience with some good players around the region and to be part of a good group in a national pool.

Most in the national odp pool go no where as they can't compete with the elite player being identified for free during the ID2 process of both the EDP/NPL and the ECNL.

Older daughter has been down this rode, it was not a waste of money but there was not a pot at the end of the rainbow.

If club chooses her as part of the free ID2 2001 process then there would be no need for any of this except for the experience.

Been there done that !

Anonymous said...

My daughter plays ODP with at least one girl from PDA, so sorry, that's not true. And while id2 is free, right now it is a shell of what ODP is. If you look at the players from the top college programs, you will see the letters ODP all over their profiles. But id2 might be as good in a few years.

Anonymous said...

Please stop with the misinformation. 4;32

ODP is a nice experience, cherish it, a lot of good memories.

id2 and training camps is where you want to be.

I can assure you that there are no girls who start on either PDA ECNL group at the 2001 odp age group.

If a non starter is playing ODP more power to her!

you don't need ODP or ID2 to play in college and you should check recent stats about the domination of freshman and sophomores coming out of the ECNL.

.

Anonymous said...

ID2 is not really "free" as coaches from very expensive clubs are the gate keepers.

Anonymous said...

Not every girl who plays for PDA lives in NJ.

If you make it into national team or even the pools through ODP, you will pretty much have your pick of colleges. Long history to prove it. Very little history to support id2, but maybe. A lot of what is great about ECNL always seems to be if the future

Those girls you refer to would be "dominating" wether the ECNL existed or not. They received great training which can be found many places. The ECNL becomes more watered down with every addition but great clubs remain great clubs. Put it this way, if you are playing for PDA ECNL, the letters PDA hold more weight than the letters ECNL.

Anonymous said...

Again......

cant believe we have to keep going over this -

Just because freshmen and sophs from ECNLs are doing well collegiately doesnt mean every kid is in a better place if on an ECN roster

Some of you may wish to skip the process of dealing with this logic. It does take a decent level of sophistication.

Its like saying the 53rd payer on the Seahawks is better than an All Pro from the Giants - simply due to the team he is on.

God bless those top level ECNL girls. They deserve the accolades. Just that all ECNL players cant ride their coattails and earn that automatic rep

I think you might find this spreadsheet interesting. It lists players commitments. You can break it down by club, grad year or college at the top.
It is not perfect, but is pretty good. At top soccer programs, you will see many ECNL players with national and ECNL id2 credentials. You will also see USYSA credentials including national champions and quite a few listing regional ODP accomplishments.

https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AriynKqmGsRwdGUyR1ZrSFFUbHFZblNCMnBNZnNqc1E&output=html&gid=5

I have kids going both routes. Both are very accomplished individual players, but the teams that fit them best happened to be going down the two (largely)separate pathways.

Anonymous said...

Looked for several institutions that were not on this list. Is this only a list of colleges playing Division 1 women's soccer?

Anonymous said...

Please stop with ecnl credential crap... If they are good colleges will find them. No need to pump your chest slick.

Anonymous said...

"if they are good the colleges will find them"

Maybe true for local D3 colleges looking at players on local level teams. beyond that- Urban myth. look at the spreadsheet and look at the schools your kids are interested in and correlate with the clubs from which they came. Will give you an idea of how many "lost boys" (girls) are "found" by college scouts on their measly budgets. On the flipside look for your club if its even listed and see where the kids are going.

Where, exactly are the college coaches finding them? If a team is not playing in regional level, at least, tournaments, where are the "colleges" going to see them? And what colleges are you talking about? If your kid wants to play D1, do you really think that a college is going to invest in a kid who looks spectacular against low level competition? The answer is no. They will need to see that kid compete at the highest level. She will at least have to guest on teams that are more competitive and play in at least the top few brackets at regional, if not national tournaments. Our American Ethos really wants us to believe that a kid can rise to the pinnacle from nothing. Is possible but not if she continues to play local travel.

But if you want to believe in the myth then please let us know how that works for you in 2 years. Yes 2 years because most of us will know what kind of D1 offerings our kids are looking at by early 2017.

Anonymous said...

I'm not even getting into the ECNL or not debate..but why does everyone think that D1 is the only way to go? You can not go D1 if you plan on majoring in pre-med, for example. Game schedule and class/labs will simply not allow it, if your desire is to take a semester abroad, you can not play D1. The school owns you!
D1 is not for everyone. If you plan on playing on a top school (the UNC's, Stanford's and FSU's of the world)and plan on making soccer your life as a coach or player, I am assuming your daughter must already have top credentials and ID'ed, right? If not, think education first and soccer if it fits.

Anonymous said...

Player must weigh the costs vs. benefits of collegiate sports absolutely. Do you want preclude yourself form certain difficult majors because of a sports commitment? Do you want to take on a difficult major and also try to play a college sport? One or the other will likely suffer. And I am not just talking about D1.

What teams arent playing on a regionl level, 12:16?

Who are you addressing? Parents from which club?

Anonymous said...

I really have nothing to add to this blog...I just wanted to be the 1500 person to post!

Anonymous said...

It has been said before on this blog, but worth saying again.

ECNL is the newest and most likely platform to get get noticed by top level college programs. It is about playing the odds. There are of course other paths to success, but they are less traveled and riskier for sure.

ECNL is run by US CLub, and their ID program is ID2. It makes sense that it is or shortly will be the top ID program.

ODP is run by USYS, has always been overpriced for what you get, and has been on the decline for several years. On the Boys side, the academy programs caused the sharp decline in ODP a few years back, and ECNL is doing the same thing now on the girls side.

Most people still look to ODP if they are not close to any ECNL clubs, it is the only option they have right now. That may change, but as of right now that is the reality.

If that is not your situation and you are still shelling out money to ODP, you may want to re-think it.

In answer to your question:
Those teams that regularly choose to compete in events wherein teams from multiple states at least including, Mass through VA if not also NC and OH, are present. This might include events such as jeff cup, ECNL league, and Region 1 champions league.
In general, I do not try to address individual club parents, but instead try to make more global points so to contribute to these discussions.
But as to whom my comments were addressed: I was targeting parents of talented children who are likely the best player on their local teams. These parents might believe the urban myth that "if they are that good the colleges will 'find' them". I don't believe the myth to be true- in the vast majority of cases. I believe its a poor gamble to believe the myth. If the child's desire is to take her soccer to the highest level possible, then I believe the parents would be better served moving their child to an environment where they will face regional level competition and likely be viewed by many more and more competitive level coaches. Recruitment is happening so early for girls that the myth needs to be busted or there will be a bunch of girls who wanted to play at the highest level and now can't because their parents didn't move them early enough to provide expanded opportunities for them or not at all.
This post will, I'm sure, make some parents angry who want to believe the myth. They wish to passively sit back and watch their "star" play against weak competition believing that they will be "discovered". If the child was going to be "discovered" it would have happened by now. You are going to have to make some choices that you don't want to make at this juncture- drive a distance longer than you have previously and probably spend more money. If you are thinking seriously about this, do it now for the spring season. At least get your child training with some regional level teams and see where she stacks up. She will also be well positioned for tryouts. U15 is a key year. She needs to get on the radar if she wants to play for a competitive D1 school. No I am not worried about your kid taking my kids spot. I hope your kid will push my kid to greater achievement.

Anonymous said...

To 9:15am:

Thank you for elevating the level of discussion on this board. It has been deficient as of late.

Anonymous said...

The kids that might take your kids spot aren't even playing soccer

Those playing - I don't think there are many not playing upper level club while still seeking a scholarship

Educating yourself on video process, rules and tips on e-mailing coaches, attending college camps can all be done while playing for any of a good number of teams in each state

Anonymous said...

It's a myth because 9:15 said it was. Thankfully God has spoken now we can all go on with our lives.

Anonymous said...

Indeed, and if your child does not aspire to be a D1 or even D2 soccer player by all means disregard my post. But you are being misled if you believe otherwise. Good luck to your children. Always seems to denigrate to negative name calling. Pity, really could be great exchange of ideas and a useful resource.

Anonymous said...

wiki leaks where are you?

Anonymous said...

If they are not playing soccer but would be able to take my child's place then where are they?

Videos and camps only are helpful if 1) the coach knows the competition against which your child is shown competing and then even its doubtful that the video even gets a viewing and 2) The camps are ok if your kid is already going into the camp listed by the coach as a "player to watch". That is the coach has already seen her play. You would know this if the coach emailed or called your child's club coach to tell him he saw her play and is interested. The club coach is then allowed by the NCAA to forward to you the interested coach's email including his cell number for your kid to call. Otherwise unless she really is a superstar its a waste of money. Even then its hard to get the coach to peel his eyes away from the names that were on his clipboard before the camp started.

Anonymous said...

Reality is most colleges have a limited recruiting budget. That is fact. They will go to ECNL events first as it is a consolidated group of talent for them to pick from in fixed locations which keeps the recruiting cost down. After that they will look to NPL and look at teams that play good competition. You can agree or disagree but it is fact that is how they recruit. Ask any / all D1 coaches. Good luck if you don't play in those 2 leagues.

Anonymous said...

You all have no clue at all. College coaches just dont watch games and pick who they want. Unless a player is of superstar level they dont try to recruit players that havent shown intrest in a school. The last thing a coach wants is to recruit a player that helps the team and after a year that player decides that school, city, campus isnt for them. Coaches want to scout players that have intrest in there schools. This is not football or basketball. For the most part players seek out schools and contact coaches. Those that believe you will just be found for playing on certain team or league good luck. Talk to a D1 coach that doesnt work for youth academies. Truth is there is a school and division for every player if they want it. Wake up people and stop using your daughters team or league to flex your muscles.

Anonymous said...

You are correct. However, my older child sent no letters to coaches prior to her first "national level event" in her freshmen year and she had 5 D1 coaches including Big 10, Big East and Atlantic 10. schools contact her coach with interest. She is now in the midst of the dance. Not a national player. I am not sure how many of her teammates were similarly contacted. But I believe that you are correct in your position for the majority of "role" type players - Players 6-18 on most rosters which of . I just don't think you are quite correct on the level of player who gets "cold" contacts. My child is probably player 1-5 on her roster, but not a national superstar.

Anonymous said...

7:51

Occasionally a coach WILL find a player "by accident", having attended the game to see a teammate or opposing player - or simply because it was 2 very highly rated teams slated to play.

Anonymous said...

Why would you want interest from a coach to drive such an important decision as where to get a college education?

You and your kid should do the work of researching great college fits and then you should use your soccer resume to pursue the school, not the other way around.

Anonymous said...

I am sure this is the way most do it

But sometimes a coach can bring to light an opportunity that IS a great fit but hasn't been considered

Anonymous said...

Unsolicited interest from a coach might be flattering and may come with some $$$$$, but if the only thing they know about a kid is that they are a great soccer player, the possibility that it is a match made in heaven seems remote.

FYI all brackets are very strong at the Jefferson Cup. They reject too many teams for it to be weak. Last year copa played flight 6 and GFA flight 5 and both played some very tough highly ranked competitive teams. Look for yourself if you don't believe. Any team travelling to Jeff Cup for any flight will get good competition.

Anonymous said...

Is that what your coach is convincing you that it is worth traveling all they way to VA even if you play 5th & 6th flight competition? Next year when you are showcase age you think they will come watch teams playing in that low of flights? Also seeing how many ECNL & NPL teams are 4th flight & below shows you how much they think of all the teams in those leagues but I'm sure their coaches are telling them too how important it is to play in those leagues if they want to be seen. Keep buying what they are selling instead of educating yourselves as they are counting on that.

Still waiting 956 for you to enlighten us as to the whereabouts of these wunderkinds you have referenced who pose a threat to my child's roster spot. Can all posters with kids playing on travel teams please stop posting here. You may only read and learn. Don't you know that this game is about WHERE your kid plays, not HOW your kid plays?

Anonymous said...

You can post, but for a change try and post something intelligent instead of "this coach is terrible" and "this team is better than that team" and "that kid isn't really that good...

Anonymous said...

Yes. Opinion and commentary on the quality and competitiveness of coaches, players, and teams is reserved for posters involved with programs that cost a minimum of $2000 per year excluding travel and some payers must travel a minimum of 30 miles to practice.

Anonymous said...

If you find that type of conversation interesting then carry on. The more global discussions regarding youth soccer development, recruiting process for kids about to enter high school, and questions asking for direction to optimize their child's experience and opportunities are more interesting to me. Especially since this is supposed to be a region 1 forum and not a NJ travel league poke at each other forum. Maybe the moderator should separate the 2 so you can carry out discussion that interests you without being bothered by those who wish to discuss more global youth soccer issues pertaining to children of this age and gender.

Anonymous said...

No interest in bashing teams or players whatsoever. Arrogant and superior attitudes from posters in the business of high level club soccer deserve some push back.

One topic of interest in this state is how to "optimize the experience and opportunities" for talented players operating with a travel soccer budget as opposed to an expensive club budget. Play in the ECNL or go bust is useless advice for most families in this state regardless of the skill and interest level of their players.

Anonymous said...

What specifically embodies the optimal experience that you seek? Some possibilities: Fun for the player and family? Achieving her personal highest possible level of play? Admission into the best academic college possible? Matriculation to college as cheaply as possible? Play soccer in the most competitive college environment possible? Play professionally (yes I know there's no money, but it still might be the objective of some players)? USWNT? I am sure there other possibilities.

There will be different paths depending on the end each player and her family seeks. Narrow it down a bit and there is a great topic for sure.

Anonymous said...

A coach from a high level program inquires about a talented player on the opposing travel team when they have an occasion to compete. This player has been with this team for several years and has been taught to play by her travel coach (hired coach - not a parent).

If the travel team path is really so inferior , how can this player have developed enough to be desired by a high level program?

Anonymous said...

girl could have naturally talent that comes through either because of or inspire of what coach is doing and now its time to play with like players

Anonymous said...

inspite

Anonymous said...

But why now? On the U11 board, they can it must be at U11. ON the U12 board, U12 or its too late. U13 is the same story.

Anonymous said...

For sure at u 14 a talented coach and a motivated, athletic player in combination can put together an ECNL or premier level kid. Even an impact player. No one said otherwise. The point was that if she stays playing for this coach her opportunities will likely decrease with time. At least in part from exposure. You said one kid. Likely this kid stuck out because the others were comparably weak. Her development though likely to continue may not at the same pace she would if she was training with and against similar kids. The travel coach should recognize the limitations of his program, be proud of what they accomplished together and encourage her to continue to challenge herself to achieve whatever is possible. That actually happens...

Will the STA girls be returning to MF practice again this week? Will more come now that they have lost their coach again?

Anonymous said...

MF will take them all , promise the world and divide them between 3 teams. STA was on the down fall and I guess this confirms it. Lots of money spent for players that now have to find a new home or stay with what will probably become just an average team. MF could def benefit, with a few nice players.

I have a question. I hear of other girls leaving teams during the season. We have an opportunity to move our daughter now to a better team they will player better competiton than ours. Our coach told us that he irony release another player until the end of the season. Some girls left us in the fall. Can he make us stay until the end of the season? We want to leave our team now.

Anonymous said...

You can leave at anytime. All you have to do is talk to you new club and have them re-card you. Your new DOC should be able to walk you through the process. You are not under contract with any team. It is a bit harder if the previous club does not release you but it still can be done.

Anonymous said...

There is not such middle of the season thing. You can leave when you want following what you think is right for your daughter. Might lose some money if you are in a club that makes sure you pay in advance.

Anonymous said...

You can leave whenever you want. The only thing you can't do is go from one ECNL roster to another in midseason, or at least you cannot play in any ECNL league games or events until the following fall. You can probably play in non-ecnl events, tournaments, friendlies, etc in the spring.

Anonymous said...

Coach told us that his decision was final and he would release players at end of season. Thanks for the advice. I will talk to the DOC at our new club. Glad to get away from a coach who is afraid to play games and wastes our time.

Anonymous said...

"We want to leave our team now"

You are what is wrong with youth soccer.

Anonymous said...

Coaches can leave when it is good for them. Teams can add players as they want. Remember this is a business and they want your check.

Why would a player not be able to leave when it is good for them.

If your team is in transition or they are not providing a good environment for your kid why would you stay. Do whats best for your kid.

Anonymous said...

STA being placed in the bottom flight of Jeff Cup cant be helping them retain players after another coach has left.

Anonymous said...

STA also dropped to 2nd division in EDP with Holmdel & TSF.

Anonymous said...

STA still vying for a bid to Nationals

Anonymous said...

Can anyone tell us about the new STA coach? Is she not well liked? With players back from injuries do they not have a decent team?

Anonymous said...

The coach is probably not the problem. Probably plenty qualified. Its the uncertainty of the team, players and coach. Third coach in less then a year. Tough fall season, and top players being offered roster spots elsewhere. Im sure they will get through the spring but the top two or three players will probably be gone before that. They will probably move a few B players up and if they don't do well as a team they will probably loss more players. Teams will be all over trying to grab some of them.

MF perfect for sta kids,MF full of kids that can notmake PDA and full of castoffs from pda bteam waste of money with 30 plus kids. Good luck with that. !!!

Anonymous said...

You have said it yourself - Match Fit doesnt have to be tremendous in W-L just yet

Anonymous said...

So just using STA as an example, is it beneficial for a player to leave a team like this where she gets tremendous playing time to join a more well-known team and play half a game or even less? Maybe even doesn't even dress at an ECNL team with 25 on the roster?

Anonymous said...

anybody still on sta should jump if they can,MF not the place to go,filled with kids that cant make pda and a bunch of pda castoffs from the b&c teams...

Anonymous said...

In order to get better as a player, your needs to play with like minded players and actually play for 75% of the game.

If your daughter is a good solid player that is what you should be looking for.

Clubs like PDA are great if you are going to play a significant amount of the game. if not - don't bother. Better to pick an ECNLor other high level team where the coaching is stable and your daughter will get significant playing time. check their recruitment history before joining any team.

Anonymous said...

If you are looking to leave you should evaluate your current team. What are they doing or have done with the older teams they have. Are they getting into the right events? Are they able to maintain rosters with little turnover? Is the current team developing and playing strong competition. It is not only about what is going now. You need to look at what will potentially take place in the very near future.

Then look at all of your options with other clubs and evaluate them the same way.

Keep in mind the majority of the information on here is wrong and based on assumptions not facts.

If I was in a situation that was not stable I would explore options because you can bet others on the team are as well. This is a year for a lot of change. Many teams will not be the same as they are today due to people coming and going.

Anonymous said...

3:14 tell your coach that his decision about release means nothing. It is your decision that counts. You can leave at any time.

Anonymous said...

As most of the players are heading to high school, can anyone comment how girls in EDP, NPL and ECNL juggle high school sports? Is it possible to play a winter high school sport? What about a spring sport like Soft Ball or Lacrosse that has daily practices and evening games? I'm sure many of your girls are gifted athletes in more than one sport.

Anonymous said...

Depends on the team. Most allow high school soccer. Largely take the fall off. maybe practice on Sundays. Winter possibly doable. I do not see a spring sport as tenable. The kid will not have time for homework as the spring is the big showcase or ECNl season and many of these teams are active 4 days/week. We realized too late with one of our kids that the pull coaches have with admissions was not as great as we had hoped. Grades limited some of her choices.

Anonymous said...

Winter sport has some conflict as the club soccer season starts after high school and you will play games in Nov, early Dec, and potentially travel over Christmas to NPL or Disney tourney in Florida. You will miss a bunch of HS sport during this time.

Spring is almost impossible to pull off. Not sure how a child has time to play HS sport 5-6 days a week and club soccer 4-5 days a week and STUDY. Not to mention the extreme wear and tear you are putting on the players body.

This is why you will see some kids step away from soccer as they would rather play high school sports, get a job, hang with friends more, etc.....
