You really have time to write all that ridiculousness??
Die in a fire please...

"Ding Dong! The Blog is dead. Which old Blog? The Wicked Blog!
Ding Dong! The Wicked Blog is dead.
Wake up - sleepy head,

rub your eyes, get out of bed.
Wake up, the Wicked Blog is dead.

It's gone where the goblins go,
Below - below - below. Yo-ho,

let's open up and sing and ring the bells out.
Ding Dong' the merry-oh,

sing it high, sing it low.
Let them know
The Wicked Blog is dead!

(Spoken word)

As Mayor of Blog City, In the County of the Land of Soccer Talk, I welcome you most regally.

But we've got to verify it legally, to see

To see?

If the Blog?

Is morally, ethic'lly

Spiritually, physically

Positively, absolutely

Undeniably and reliably Dead

As Coroner I must aver, I thoroughly examined the Blog.
And the Blog is not only merely dead, the Blog really is most sincerely dead.

Then this is a day of Independence For all the Munchkins and their descendants
and soccer players,
And Yes,Oh Yes, let the joyous news be spread,
That the wicked Old Blog at last, Is dead!"

Copa's current U15, U14 and U13 are strong and will do very well when they get to the collegiate placing.

June 26, 2014 at 10:34 PM

Can this poster explain why their U15 team chose to go to the US Southeast Regional in NC last weekend instead of the Mid-Atlantic regional at PDA this weekend? The U15s were scheduled to play at the mid-Atl but I assume they dropped out since they won the Southeast Regional in a bracket of 4 teams. Ducking competition??? Or do whatever it takes to convince yourself you are at a good club?

Good luck to the Copa teams playing this weekend at the mid-Atl regional.

Johns Hopkins is a D3 school. Is anyone in their right mind going to say this is a bad school to have soccer ability open the door to? If you play soccer and want to be a doctor where would you like to go? A school that lets you emphasize academics.

Anonymous said...

Coach of Copa U15s is also the coach of the U14s that won state cup in fall and are playing at Region 1 this weekend. They took the U15s to the South East Regional as the original dates for Mid-Atlantic conflicted with Region 1.

I am sorry but if your kid gets into Johns Hopkins, it has nothing to do with soccer.
Soccer has a much better chance of getting your kid into a D1 school with superior academics than a D3 school with superior academics. The D3 school could care less about women's soccer or any other sport for that matter. Fact.

Anonymous said...

10:12 You are completely miss informed. You might want to look at the teams played and records of Ivy League schools. If you have ever spoken to a Ivy League school coach you will find out very quickly how a sport boosts your chances in getting into a school. D1 is a job with no real ending point if soccer is your priority. If your talking about a D1 with superior acedemics unless you are a football player you're not getting in there either without outstanding acedemics coming in.

Anonymous said...

No one said you didn't need good academics but the fact of the matter is that soccer can help get you in to Princeton when otherwise only your academics may not be good enough.
On the other hand since Johns Hopkins has no commitment to athletics, your soccer ability will not help you. It will be solely based on academics.

Anonymous said...

U r wrong

Anonymous said...

All of these experts on the blog give me the shitz and giggles. Drinking the liquid crack will make you all dilusional. When you are great at soccer and have great academic foundation you do not need the academies. Will it help, yes. But is it the only route, no. Schools will fins talent no matter what. To say that PDA or Copa is the our only route, please lay off the crack.

Anonymous said...

What post said that? Do tell.

Anonymous said...

and btw 11:49 I have spoken to an ivy league coach and that's exactly what she told me.
Maybe you should speak to the coach at Johns Hopkins and ask if your daughter's special soccer skill will lower the requirements for admission to that institution.

Anonymous said...

Would it be fair to say that in NJ, the top 5 clubs with a successful record for collegiate placement are :

PDA
Match Fit
FC Copa
SJEB
NJ Wildcats

Anyone have any others?

Anonymous said...

Can't find anything published with Alumni for SJEB and Wildcats... anyone have a link?

See below the links for PDA (only boys, can't find girls) Match Fit and Copa. Impressive lists and successful record of placing these kids to play on for another 4 years with either academic or athletic money.

I have spoken to the coach of JHU he is a fantastic coach and source of information on the topic. Where ever you cane up with the idea of lowering acedemic standards from I have no idea. Those of you out there who have an interest in a D3 school with high acedemics don't let the other poster dis wade you from getting informed. These schools take sports seriously and also have the advantage of high standards in acedemics.

I encourage people to do their homework.

Anonymous said...

Can the Copa and PDA parents please just go away. You're little bitch fights have ruined the blog. Now that there's no soccer, you fight about which academies have better college placements. Holy sh!t you two are annoying!!!

Anonymous said...

PDA is annoying. And expensive. And a waste

Anonymous said...

Let's not forget:

COPA COPA COPA!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

"Johns Hopkins is a D3 school. Is anyone in their right mind going to say this is a bad school to have soccer ability open the door to? If you play soccer and want to be a doctor where would you like to go? A school that lets you emphasize academics."

This is your post. My argument is that I disagree that soccer will open any doors to admission to that institution. You can get accepted under the same requirements as everyone else, whether you play soccer or not. Your opening doors comment implies that soccer can help get you accepted when otherwise you wouldn't. This does not happen at
D3 schools like Johns Hopkins, however, for the right talent, an Ivy league school can get an athlete accepted when they normally would have zero chance at an ivy without athletics.
It is the difference between a D1 commitment to athletics and a D3 commitment to athletics.

Anonymous said...

If the child is bright enough to be accepted to JH, then she is bright enough to be accepted to any Ivy League School, with or without a athletic scholarship, not saying it wouldn't be a plus.
Do your planning NOW!
Keep in mind not all kids are wanting to go to collage.

I know one girl went to four years at Monmouth, was in the top 20 when she graduated and then became a bartender.
Let your child have their dreams... not yours!

Anonymous said...

There are to many variables when it comes to today's graduates.....whether they play sports or not. For anyone to say that someone graduated and became a bartender is clearly not in tune with the real world. It depends on what her major was; it depends on if she's waiting for a pro team to pick her up; it depends on whether or not the major she graduate with is really right for; it depends on whether the major she graduate with needs a Master's degree. So, to minimize the accomplishments these young women make in soccer and then to critize them for getting a bartending job is not only shortsided on your part but incredibly stupid.

Funny, do we say the same thing about men playing sports.....not!
What amazes me on this blog is that we have daughters but yet there are some men on this blog who still minimize their daughters abilities and accomplishments. I know professional men who can't find a job in this marketplace....who are accomplished and credentialed and they're waiting tables and tending bar.......part of letting our kids have their own dreams is to fully support their endeavors......not a half attempt that so many parents do

Anonymous said...

In response to your post
7-1-14 8:58am.
My last sentence said it all.
To say I would criticize a person for becoming a bartender is absolutely a judgment of yours, not mine! Would you have felt better if I called her a mixologist? (derogatory)
What I do criticize is the parents that insisted that she go to collage, and get a degree, and live the parents dream.
She doesn't think of it as a waste of her time but embraced her experience.
I am confident that she will be successful in whatever she pursues in life.
I'm assuming that your spelling of (critize) was a typo however, shortsided ? please define?

COPA COPA COPA!!! LETS GO!!

Anonymous said...

11:44 please just leave us alone. You are not one of us, we were in the middle of a game at the time of your post. Please just stop.

Anonymous said...

I'd like to know how the Copa parent justifies his/her daughter's team and club as very close to PDA. National titles? League titles? Wins? W-L-D ratio?

Shouldn't different coaches be coaching different teams at this level? Why are the Copa 15's and 14's sharing a coach? Sounds like it makes scheduling difficult.

Anonymous said...

Guess it is like PDA. The coach can get more money off two teams.

What is the basis for Copa being in the same conversation with PDA?

Anonymous said...

They both offer a field of pipe dreams. The % ratio of girls to D1 is not all it cracked up to be. Many get their without the hype.

Anonymous said...

Do you have stats from reputable sources to back up your claim?

Anonymous said...

My daughter plays for a town team that has played both PDA and Copa. PDA was much better. We beat, tied, and lost to Copa.Good team but not any better then my daughter's team.

Anonymous said...

No Freehold parents on here today straight after your game with Copa???

Thought not. See where running your mouth gets you?

Also lost to Real yesterday after beating them last week too. Face it, you had a lucky Rider Cup.

Good teams prove it once, great teams prove it again when it matters.

Anonymous said...

Nobody takes Freehold seriously as a top team. Only the Manager & delusional parents think they play top quality soccer which isn't to say they don't have good athletes on the team but they are clearly not trained or coached correctly to play high level soccer.

Anonymous said...

So true you have to post it twice! They play a close game score wise or beat a team by a goal in an ugly game them they crow that they are great but as someone took the time to point out their record against top teams is very poor which is a real indication of the level they're at not 1 random game here or there.

Freehold bubble burst... quick.

Anonymous said...

The blog was FILLED last week after the Rider Cup with Freehold parents bragging. 'We beat Copa, we are better than Copa, we should have beaten Brick, it was the ref's fault, we were better than Brick.'

All quiet now...

And the Freehold manager has some of the worst sideline conduct ever with opposing teams coaches. Looks down on them and laughs/sniggers like she is better. Not one word of soccer intelligence comes out of her mouth, she is a cheerleader. She has NO CLUE about the game at all, and complains to referees about every call. Its actually quite amusing. The coach is a very good guy... not sure if he has to keep her on the sideline. She should go cheer with the parents where she belongs.

Anonymous said...

Teams like Freehold & Jackson really get a bad rep from the people they have associated with the team & should not be a reflection of the players but it does hurt the chances of getting better players when teams have people on the teams staff with bad reps. Teams should be aware of how they are viewed outside of their team. I'm sure the coach has friends that they play that could bd honest with him about the view by most if not all of the teams manager. Jackson had the same problem before they folded making those players scatter all over the place. That's why it's hard to keep teams together long term.

Anonymous said...

what game was between freehold and copa yesterday? the only one i know is the rider cup.

Anonymous said...

@9:11- Why do you care what her license is? Does your daughter play on that team? If she does and you are not happy then move her.
Who are you to say where she belongs? Grow up already!!

Anonymous said...

US Club Regional was held this week at PDA fields Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. U13G Super Grouo had 4 teams in it, 1 game per day.

Copa
Real
Freehold
Braddock (VA)

Copa went 3-0 and won easily. Real were 1-1-1. Freehold won 1 and lost to both Copa and Real. Braddock lost to Copa and Freehold and tied Real.

Copa now go to US Club Nationals the week after they play the NPL Nationals, both events in North Carolina.

Anonymous said...

Sorry FH cut your kid.

Anonymous said...

FH can't afford to cut any players when it's hard for them to keep the ones they have. They had to take back players that left their team for Force shows you how desperate they are to have to take them back because they can't get any other players.

Anonymous said...

Or how stupid they were to go to the force

Anonymous said...

Left for a better situation but forced to return back down a level that's what's sad.

Anonymous said...

Better situation? How? Forced to come back? Or, saw that they had it good

Anonymous said...

Forced to come back because team folded & team takes them back which tells the story there.

Anonymous said...

True. There are no other options. Nowhere else to go. Dope

Anonymous said...

I think they meant that Freehold was so desperate that they took them back. Options out there but maybe not for those players.

With registration closing in 3 days, it looks like Spirit has a pretty weak list of applied teams so far. No top competition from outside the area this year? Thought maybe ECNL had an event, but Bucks applied. Curious.

Anonymous said...

One person had an axe to grind. Leave FH alone

Anonymous said...

FH should think before they speak next time then

Anonymous said...

Freehold is at spirit as well as Brick and Copa. The three best teams around .
Winner will be out of these three teams. No competition.

Anonymous said...

Freehold won't even make semis in second bracket.

Anonymous said...

Ironic Freehold is the first one if these three Accepted at Spirit.

Anonymous said...

Accepted equals paid.

Anonymous said...

Strongest teams at Spirit in no order :

Brick
Copa
GBFC
HBC
IGFA
Lower Merion
Penn Fusion ECNL
Penn Rush
Premier Strikers
SAC Blue
SJEB
PSG MI Gators

This will be the top bracket. 4 groups of 3, as per the usual Spirit format. Each team will play 2 games Saturday, and 1st place from each group of 4 will advance to the Semi's. 3rd places will play a consolation on Sunday.

Anonymous said...

No Delco? Might make an argument for them over at least GFA. GFA can't handle the pressure in tournament play and might flight down because of it.

Anonymous said...

Delco yes, my mistake. Them probably over SAC Blue.

Still think GFA will be in top bracket because of amount of points.

Anonymous said...

Very good competition at Spirit from outside NJ. Some top PAE and MD teams attending.

Anonymous said...

Used to get Mass teams that always seem to give nj fits. No stars or breakers this year. No top virginia teams either.

It's actually a true fact that Freehold have won NOTHING... EVER.

Not one tournament champion. Points gained from semi-finalists and finalists. Will disappear soon if they don't start winning. Will be stuck in low flights at tournaments and slowly make their way out of top 20 in NJ.

When will these people learn that they hurt their kids teams with their antics & image? They give people such a bad taste in their mouth about teams which isn't fair to the players & the HC but I guess it's not going to change until these HC's wake up & make changes at Freehold & NJX.

Anonymous said...

How will those people (and some of the over zealous posters here) fill their time in a couple short years when they must move on from the youth soccer world. What will they do next fall? What will they do when their team can't find enough girls willing to forego spring high school sport commitments. Might be as soon as next year for the teams that can hardly fill a roster now.

Anonymous said...

Hearing rumors that some NJX girls love playing on the summer team... Different coach you think?? More play time? Deserved?

Why would Rush volunteer to be the focus of discussion by such a clueless and vicious bunch of posters. And then post it twice to provoke the spelling and post propriety police.
Seriously though, Rush is a bunch of thugs that try to bully through to the net or knock down the attackers from my limited recollection. Can't remember worrying about their possession or passing either. Might need more than three new faces unless they are all starters - then the parent mutiny begins from those benched. I'd keep your mouth shut until you see how it all plays out.

Anonymous said...

Barons, Bucks, Brick & Premier would be my top 4. Freehold won't be in the top bracket not should they be & Copa will suffer same fate as Rider Cup now that they will start to be in top flights.

Anonymous said...

Freehold will be just fine, thank you. Leave us alone, thank you.

Anonymous said...

"copa has a chance to win at Spirit, if they do are they going to be number 1 in NJ?"

How? if the top teams decide to stay home at the last minute?

Anonymous said...

Anyone know where barons b team will play? Are they in edp too?

Anonymous said...

They are playing in Freehold.

Anonymous said...

Clever. The club info link on got soccer says one is npl and one is edp. More interesting question is where did the hornets go? Are they splash practice dummies or were they cut loose?

Anonymous said...

The Rush picked up average players at best. They did not do well in EDP last season and I would compare them to NJX as they are point chasers. Will enter any tournament they can get in.

Anonymous said...

I guess that brings us to today's "word definition". Insanity - the belief that adding a better team's benchwarmers will make you the best team. The Rush poster has a touch of insanity.

Anonymous said...

Bench warmers at U13? Horrible.

Anonymous said...

my prediction is that either Brick or Copa will win spirit

Copa is becoming stronger and stronger. Rider cup results were due to a combination of bad luck/bad referees that hopefully is not happening at Spirit.

then you will see the real COPA

Anonymous said...

bad luck
bad referees
but not bad play?
Not got outplayed?
just excuses.

Anonymous said...

11:22& 11:33
Same person....TROLL......

Anonymous said...

no excuses, FACTS! Copa was not overplayed by any team for a while now. They play probably the best soccer out there and their program is becoming best in state. Surely is not PDA anymore or Match fit only; COPA is there with them as the ultimate place to go

now these are facts. maybe you do not like them but it is reality

Anonymous said...

Win something and let us know.

Anonymous said...

A team that has never been towards the top goes out & has a nice season then they come on here to brag then get brought down to earth like Freehold, Jackson, Wildcats & IGFA so be careful Copa. Do it for a couple of seasons & you won't have to brag other people will talk you up. Now they will be in top flights & so far we only have Rider Cup to go by. They were the 5th best team there if that.

Anonymous said...

Hornet sighting in u14 rankings.

Anonymous said...

If Copa can go to Rider Cup and only lose 1-0 to NYSC, they can definitely compete. They slipped up against FH but put that record straight last week at the US Club Regional.

Anyone can beat anyone on any day, but if you want the top 5 in NJ currently on results and performance, then this is it :

Splash
SJEB
Copa
Brick
NJ Crush

These 5 teams have had a very solid and consistent 2014 so far. Let's see what the fall brings...

Anonymous said...

I don't think any team can get 'outplayed' and only lose by 1 goal.

Outplayed would be a higher scoring margin. All these games between the top NJ teams (yes Copa and FH included) will be close in score and in play.

Anonymous said...

Match Fit have done the same by changing to U13 themselves on GotSoccer. Their Holmdel NJX U12 team is now #2 in NJ on U13 page.

Anonymous said...

On the top five..
I have to disagree with you on that.
I would have to take Brick out of it, they only have 11 wins out 38 games, that is a 28.9 win percentage. With the addition of the Force players maybe we will see some improvement.
NJ Crush Storm is borderline.
Who I would replace Brick with is really a hard decision. Ok, I'll make my choice,
Drum roll please...IGFA.

I know..I know , I'll get slammed for my pick..I expect nothing less from this blog.

Anonymous said...

IGFA now that's funny! Name a top team they have beaten? Brick is still there because they are in every game and from what I saw got screwed at Rider Cup. I'm sure now that they can field a full team in the Fall will be stronger, will that mean more wins we'll see. Top 5 teams:
PDA
SJEB
Brick
STA
Copa
Then TRIC, Real, Freehold, IGFA, NJ Crush & Hornets in any order then NJX & Wildcats.

Anonymous said...

STA will be nowhere near the top teams. They have lost too many players.

Anonymous said...

Madrid might have passed Hornets. Wildcats certainly shouldn't be listed. They will be road kill at Spirit.

Anonymous said...

GFA has not won in 4th bracket, how can you say they are a top team?Let them something first...

Anonymous said...

Your fist five all 50% or better your 2nd five not so good.
Brick being stronger in the fall, I think I said that? I'm guessing your a brick parent.

win percentage
TRIC 35.0%
FREEHOLD 39.5%
REAL 29.9%
IGFA 50.0%
NJ CRUSH 43.5%
PDA HORNETS ??

Then there is
win percentage
STRONGHOLD 66.7%
NJX 56.1%
WILDCATS 37.5%

Maybe you would like you exchange out IGFA for the WILDCATS keeping all your picks under 50%

Anonymous said...

50% against weak teams isn't impressive. Look at where the wins come from as if you only play top teams there will be wins, losses & ties but if you play lower competition & have losses against them then you can't be a top team can you? Again name the wins or even ties against top teams for IGFA.

Anonymous said...

Let GFA be. They want no part in it. GFA is subpar they can only play Futsol and compete with mediocre teams.why even bring them up. Let's see how they do this fall with a full year under their belt.

Anonymous said...

And 30% against strong teams is?
So what you are saying is the teams that are 30% and lower are in the wrong brackets...right?

Were you not the one that said? Any team can win on any day.
30% would not get you to qualify in the world cup.
Look at all the great teams that fell in the world cup. The latest Brazil 7-1 loss to Germany, you would think that they are the worst. Also what do you think the 7 goals did to Cesar's record?

You hold a allegiance to your team no matter what their record, and that is a good thing, then the excuses... bad ref's, best player wasn't at the game, player injuries and the weather was bad.
Take it on the chin and move on.

Brick just barely got by in rider cup you had 1 win 2 ties

In NJ Cup you had a bye in 1st round, and 2nd round, lost to TRIC. 2-0
IGFA on the other hand, won against Stronghold 3-2,won against American Blue Blaze 1-0 then lost to Morris United 3-2 in the quarter final.
How did brick do in Jeff Cup premier?
Ok I'll tell ya...last place winless.
I know Brick was in premier and IGFA was in platinum.
How di IGFA do in Jeff Cup?
OK I'll tell ya...
IGFA in the semi-finals.

Can we stop all this nonsense now! Are you getting the point?

Anonymous said...

GFA does not belong with the top teams they have only been together less than a year and have won nothing outside of futsol. They are a mommy daddy crumb collecting team. Their team lacks quality players. Let it be.

Anonymous said...

Wow. Still calling the American withdrawal a victory! Get real GFA - name the championships you have from any tournament. You cried you were misflighted too low in all of them and then choked in every one as well. You are a young team that can't handle the pressure situations yet. Maybe with time, but up to now you can't win the big games. You lost to tric as well and cried they were too defensive for the good of the game.

Anonymous said...

I am assuming that the last couple of posters are going to Spirit Kickoff Cup.

I would like you big heroes to come on the field and tell whatever team you oppose just how you feel about them.

Be just as brave on the field as you are on here.

Be sure to tell them how you dislike their coach.

Be sure to tell IGFA how they are a mommy/daddy crumb collecting team.

Be sure to tell the kids how
Brick got screwed at Rider Cup.

And tell Copa kids that are not really in 4th place.

The NJX kids, you can tell them that the coach really doesn't care about them, only the points.

And Freehold is open season with you guys.

If I missed any teams please forgive me I'm not that good at bashing 13 year old girls.

After you have done all this...
go home and tell your daughter, what a great parent you are!!!

No dog in the fight but I agree when looking at Got Soccer records you cannot compare if teams don't play the same teams or flights. But looking at their record against top teams here is what you find with IGFA
NJ Crush lost
STA lost
TRIC lost
Brick lost
SJEB lost
Americans lost
I cannot find even 1 win against a top team or tie & the flight values they play in are all under 7,000 with no championships. Cannot consider them a top team till they put together a better record against top teams. Copa was quality wins & ties against better teams so you have to put then ahead. SJEB & PDA have the best record against top teams out of all NJ teams but there are other teams that don't chase points but only play top teams which is more impressive them gaining points from playing in 10 tournaments in low flights.

Anonymous said...

"I know Brick was in premier and IGFA was in platinum"

You should have stopped right there, since that says it all.
Bottom line is, Brick led GFA 3-0 at halftime in a complete drubbing. Brick moved players around, played subs, and basically let up and made it 3-2. Don't kid yourself. It will be worse next time around.

Win percentage is not a telling stat to go by at all. A team with 10 wins, 10 losses, and no ties is not as good as a team with 10 wins, 3 losses, and 7 ties. You are comparing apples and oranges. Ties should be eliminated from all sports anyway for obvious reasons.

"IGFA now that's funny! Name a top team they have beaten? Brick is still there because they are in every game and from what I saw got screwed at Rider Cup. I'm sure now that they can field a full team in the Fall will be stronger, will that mean more wins we'll see. Top 5 teams:
PDA
SJEB
Brick
STA
Copa
Then TRIC, Real, Freehold, IGFA, NJ Crush & Hornets in any order then NJX & Wildcats"

Sounds about right to me until any of the "then" teams can prove any differently.

Anonymous said...

9:06 is not a GFA parent just the usual idiot starting problems.
GFA is not here promoting anything. Many teams are more important and stronger so please focus on all the brick/ freehold or copa or whoever you want.
GFA doesn't want any part of it. Please leave us alone. Thanks

WHAT THE HELL YOU TALKING ABOUT?

Anonymous said...

Not sure why IGFA us comparing itself to any if the top teams when they don't have the history to support it? Copa can start to place itself there with another good season & good results this Fall against the top teams in the Region but until IGFA has some good results they cannot. They will be like all teams that gather points from lower tournaments & flights that get moved up to player higher flights like NJX only to be outclassed. That is why they should fix the point system that way they don't put a team that has no business in the top 2 flights in there to play teams that the coaching & training us above where they are. IGFA might be a team that can do well but will most likely suffer the same fate as Jackson, Freehold & now NJX did begore them which is a lot of talk if how they belong only to be embarrassed in the games & ripped apart on here. Let the teams play speak for itself rather than crazy parents who cannot see the difference in their team & others because they don't have the knowledge to recognize the difference in what they are seeing.

5:16 nobody from GFA here. Just the usual guy that likes to bring the name up as he probably has some kind of agenda to attack this team. Totally agree with all of you here. GFA won nothing so nothing to talk about. You should all focus on the top teams .

Anonymous said...

2:04 I do not feel bad , Thank you for the comment on my writing, and thank you for doing it so late at night

Only two teams hate GFA so much. They are bitter from the winter shellacking for trying to play Futsol. The other teams can care less because they have beat them. Two socalled top teams have yet to do it. Can you take a guess. The list provided before left them out.

Anonymous said...

Again , please focus on top teams. All the other teams are not important. Look at the list on previous comments and focus on them . Stop with this kind of comments that have the only purpose of provoking bad reaction and bashing . Most teams bashed here have nothing to do with the comments . I do not u sweatband what kind of sick person you need to be to enjoy this bs.
Focus on your top teams and leave the other alone

What top team hasn't beaten IGFA? They don't have a lot of games vs top teams as it's a small sample but the ones they have played have beaten them. Wins over Freehold or NJX doesn't constitute wins over top teams. Only win over Americans wa a forfeit so that doesn't count nor dies an indoor win over PDA.

Anonymous said...

Did IGFA pick up any players or change the coach? That's what is necessary to get better.

Anonymous said...

Not trying to rain on Copa's parade but looking bar their 25-14-8 record they only have 1 win over the Americans & 1 draw against NYSC as their only good results against top teams? They also lost to NYSC, SJEB & even Freehold. They hand by played a lot if too teams which is why it will be interesting to see where they really are now that they will be in top flights. Would have thought with all that bragging that they would have played more top teams. Wins over Real is a quality win but they're not a top team at least as if now. Not defending IGFA but they have played more top teams & they haven't played many either. Copa is 2nd tier till they have a larger sampling if good results vs top teams.

Anonymous said...

Congrats to PDA for being one of only two clubs in the country to send every age group to ecnl nationals. Good job and good luck.

Anonymous said...

Not every club, in fact very few, have the availability to be in ECNL. Soooooooooooooo

Anonymous said...

Copa's wins over quality teams is not solely based on NJ teams. Look at the teams they have beaten out of state.

Thunder SAC
PWSI
Century United
Chan Santos
LVU
GPS MA
Manhattan Crew
Braddock Road Elite
Maryland United

Also losing to SJEB in overtime and a tie and 1-0 loss to NYSC in two games this spring.

Nobody needs to talk up Copa or rain on their parade... Fact is they have a very good record in 2014 so far against very good teams. Nobody wins every game, it's about consistency.

Anonymous said...

I guess Brazil was in the wrong bracket lost by more than 3 goals,

also by this blog's logic USA is a better team Brazil

Anonymous said...

10:33 lol right , this blog is focusing on everything but soccer development.

Wins and losses don't matter. You think a college coach comes to the field to watch your kid at U16 and U17 and asks what the score is? No.

They watch how your kid plays and how the team plays.

We should talk more on here about how teams PLAY rather than who wins and loses.

Anonymous said...

Teams mentioned that Copa played out of State other than Manhattan are not top teams & even Manhattan is on the decline now as well. FC Bucks, Breakers, Premier Strikers, Penn Fusion, Bethesda etc are top teams in the Region representing other States as is NYSC & Copa hasn't even played these teams yet so playing the equivilant of a Freehold from other States isn't that impressive. I'm sure they talked up these teams but look up the top teams in the Region & you will see that you haven't even played them yet because they are always in flights you have not been in up till now. When you play these teams as well as NJ top teams multiple times with good results then you can brag about your record but until then just calm down & be silent & let the play of the team against these teams speak for itself.

Anonymous said...

GFA braging about semis in 5th bracket at Jefferson cup!!! That great.....lol

Anonymous said...

If your team doesnt win you wont have to worry about your style of play because no college coach will be looking at the mid to bottom brackets of any tournament anyway.

Anonymous said...

11:03 wrong. Nobody is bragging ( not braging like you wrote). Somebody for some reason decided to start problems.

Anonymous said...

11:15 if you think college coaches don't look at bottom brackets you are hugely mistaken.

I used to come to this site for the comedy aspect. Most posters are delusional and often seem to not have any real knowledge of the game. Is seems to be getting worse. The comedy is gone and it is just sad.

In the end each player will find their correct level of play, some will want more and some will want less. For that that want more, that is great and I wish your daughter well. She has the drive and wants to succeed and loves the game! To me that is awesome. But I wonder how many are over committing themselves due to their parents? That is probably the real question.

Often I hear conversations amongst parents and listen to comments that make at training sessions and games. The majority don't really know the game. Many are living their shortfalls as a athlete through their child, IMO, I may be wrong but that is my view.

It is sad to see the post hear that bash teams, really, I would love to see the people that post hear play the game, most of you never played the game. But you claim to know it because you watch U13 games. What a joke you are, and it is clear in your post.

I also, notice that many coaches are all about self promotion on how great they are, it is a business for all. Do think anything different.

In the end it is just a game, a beautiful game. We are privileged to be able to watch our daughters play and compete. It really doesn't matter the level, just that is the correct level for her!

So for all of you get over yourself, you seem to still be searching for a clue. IMHO you don't have one.

Prove me wrong, watch a game and talk about type of play/tactics of a team, etc. Not my team is better than yours because we played more tournaments and have more got soccer points, which means nothing except that your daughter is playing too many games!

Good post, my friend.

I too always like to read the comments here for the comedy.

You couldn't have stated it better. Good job!

11:39 you can have fun talking to your community college coaches in the low brackets. Be my guest.

My daughter played in showcases in bottom brackets. Nobody was there. Am I also hugely mistaken?

Anonymous said...

What about the quality players who's families cannot afford to pay for a top academy program?

You think they don't get seen or recruited?

Anonymous said...

There is a big difference between top academy programs and bottom brackets of a college showcase. No one cares about the bottom brackets, sorry. You have to be on a team that will be seen, simple as that.

Anonymous said...

Girls will be seen regardless of their affiliation. Its mind boggling to think that one has to be on academy team. Keep drinking the koolaid. A sucker is born every minute.

Anonymous said...

1:36 Who you know also comes into play. A coach with some cred can push a player along the process even if the player isn't all that.

Anonymous said...

Depends on where your kid wants to play.

Local small schools most have never heard of, or top D1 programs? Big difference in what it takes both in talent and exposure.

Don't believe me, research the rosters of top college programs and where their kids played club ball.

Mind boggling? It comes down to numbers. There are thousands of kids playng some level of academy soccer across the country, and only so many roster spots to fill on the top college teams.

You can hope people are "drinking the academy koolaid", I think you might be drinking your own town team koolaid.

Anonymous said...

Another trend that I have noticed is that there are so many kids now playing academy soccer in this country, even the no name D3 schools are starting to be picky. I would expect that to continue in the future, as the sport continues to grow.

The college your rec team superstar daughter could have played for 10 years ago, will no longer have a spot for her today or in the future.

Anonymous said...

All fair points about college recruiting. But the landscape has really changed over the past several years, do your homework on the college, the team, the coach and overall program. Find out if they have summer camps and attend if you can afford it. Have your daughter contact the coach via email expressing interest, build a resume about her soccer career and achievements, film her, make a cd or place on you tube and provide a link for the coach or assistants to watch. Every team will have different needs every year, but in my opinion they are always seeking the best possible players they can get to play for them, whether this team is Brookdale CC or UNC. They all want quality players that are committed to the game and their academics!

But you can't wait, you have to do the work!

Beat Tampa today that's all.

Anonymous said...

You mean COPA beat the 40th ranked team in Florida? Wow, that is saying something. 40th ranked in Florida is like losing to #90 in NJ.

Anonymous said...

Copa beat the #7 ranked team in Florida actually, the winners of the Florida NPL. Do some research before you come on here to try and criticize.

Tough competition out there at the NPL Finals in NC. Copa has two hard games to come. Good luck!

Anonymous said...

Igfa could beat Tampa ,give us a break!!!!

Anonymous said...

LOL when IGFA actually play them then please enlighten us with that fact.

Anonymous said...

Theres no way a Copa parents posts that at 3:21 in the middle of their game.

Which means some sad excuse for a human being is looking up their game times this week from the comfort of your home or office back in NJ.

Just leave them alone. None of them came on here saying anything about where they were this week or who they were playing. It's all you trolls AGAIN stirring the pot.

Anonymous said...

Ignore everyone Copa. Your girls I'm sure are having a fantastic experience out there and it's once in a lifetime that you get to do two national tournaments back to back weekends.

Good luck representing NJ to all your girls... Some of us actually want you to do well out there and are not sad or bitter people.

Wow, 7th in Florida!!! That ranking and all 2,000 points will get them nothing but a 280th national ranking. Can't wait to hear all about it when you beat the 4th ranked team in Texas South who is ranked 350th in the nation. No wonder the Barons skipped this waste of a trip opening the door for Nopa.

WooooooHooooo COPA!!!!!
