U11G / U11 Girls Youth Soccer

U11G  / U11 Girls youth soccer seems to offer the most teams and the widest diversity of talent. Where these players will end up is anyone guess. Welcome to the ride.

There are only 8 teams in the 11v11group. So I think they will have two brackets of 4 with the #1 of each playing in the final.

Agreed that Crush deserves to be considered.

Hey GAKster are you getting nervous? The start of the MOSA season is almost here. I see a GAKster has asked how Staten Island did this past weekend against PDA. Are you worried about Staten Island now? They are a Nat 2 team, bumbed up to premier, just like the GAK.

Anonymous said...

GAK has been in the same group with Staten Island before. So they are quite familiar already.

Anonymous said...

Anyone know that PDA - Staten Island score

Anonymous said...

let the GAKster be. he sounds like a fun guy. this blog is not just for PDA, NJX, and Rage. it sounds like most of the posters have not been through this long journey of youth soccer. enjoy the time you spend with your daughter. time goes by so fast. treasure every tournament and game because they are growing so fast. i wish all the parents and kids a great season and dont be so concerned with the results now. keep it fun and most of all stay close to your daughters. because its over in a flash. let the season begin.... enjoy! hope to see you all on the pitch soon.

Anonymous said...

I think the one thing everyone on the board can agree with is... We ALL enjoy the GAK!

I dont even know who GAK is... Honestly! I have no clue. But reading this board regularly, I am a GAK fan!

"Looking at PDA Tournament teams. The 8v8 group has some great clubs from the area. In the 11v11 you have to like Crush to win it. Haven't seen them play in a while but based on recent results it appears they are playing very well right now. Depending on brackets, I think it should be a Crush vs Rage Final."

LOL....you are assuming that the schedule will be random. More likely for Rage to have an 8:00 am game, and then play Storm at 10:00 am on when it's Storm's first game of the day. Funny, but there are a lot of other really good NJ and PA teams that aren't registered yet.....can't imagine why?

Anonymous said...

keep us up to date on any GAK sightings. I am sure he is in full GAK gear. Does he have a twitter we can follow?

Anonymous said...

Did anybody notice the price of gas this morning? PDA is responsible. They are raising gas prices so good team won't travel to their tournament.

Also heard they have arranged for snow/rain over the next couple of days so teams can't train outside.

I don't think Storm is worried about Rage, Crush is the team to beat right now.

Anonymous said...

One thing almost for sure:

Crush and Rage will be in a bracket (maybe Scorpions as well), with Storm in the opposite one.

Something like

Storm
FSA
TSF
Dragons

then

Rage
Scorpions
NJX
Crush

Anonymous said...

sorry - AJAX, not NJX

PA poster here. So which of these squads are "Academy" and which are "Town" teams? Are they geographically diverse or is there significant overlap?

I take it that PDA has the reputation of giving itself an easy road to the finals of its own tournament. This reminds me that in PAE, for state cups, they actually video the drawing of the brackets and post the video online. Apparently there were tons of complaints/insinuations about the drawings in past years.

PDA Spring Kickoff is a month away. What predictions does everyone have for this weekends MAPS tournament? Good luck to all teams.

Anonymous said...

Crush most certinaly looks good right now. The question is how many of the guest players will they have at PDA that they had brought to Manhatten? It looks like they are doing a great job and recruiting hard. It is a little sad that PDA had to shrink the 11v11 bracket, not taking some very prominent teams due to the Coaches decision. It is nice that they took out of state teams though.
PDA parent, gas prices went down today so that would make it easier not harder to get there.
Good Luck to all this Spring, hope all your girls stay healthy and have a good season. To echo many previous posters, enjoy it, it goes way too fast.

March 9-10 FC Europa Tournament top 8v8 bracket

Bracket A
LOWER MACUNGIE GRIZZLIES (PAE)
NORTH UNION LADY CANNONS (PAE)
FC EUROPA Liberty (PAE)
UKRAINIAN NATIONALS BLACK (PAE)

Bracket B
FC REVOLUTION FORCE (PAE)
NETHER UNITED XTREMES (PAE)
SPIRIT UNITED BARCA '01F (PAE)
WEST-MONT UNITED (PAE)

Predictions? Ukrainians have an easy road out of Bracket A. Bracket B will be anyone but Spirit. I'll say that Nether's speed serves them well on the turf and they not only win their bracket, they also beat the Ukrainians.

Westmont could very well win the whole thing. It really depends on how much their coach decides to play their best four players. When all four are on the field it is a very dangerous squad.

Anonymous said...

Crush had ZERO guest players at Manhattan

All rostered gals.

No town teams in that group of 8.....

Far from it.

Have your own tournament.
It is expected that pda will give itself a favorable draw in their own tournament and state cup.
This is the playing field and no one can change it. Like Gotsoccer, you know upfront what the rules/system is. Play the system.

At Discovery Cup last year, a team forfeited a game to a team that it dislikes, only giving them a 1-0 victory, which was not enough to get into finals. Team needed a +2 to get to finals in tie brake rules

It all catches up with them. I think it was state cup when pda was forced to forfeit because of carding issues that normally would have been overlooked.Opposing coach could have ok'd to play, but said, NO!!

Anonymous said...

WAIT - are you telling me that

"At Discovery Cup last year, a team forfeited a game to a team that it dislikes, only giving them a 1-0 victory, which was not enough to get into finals."

Excellent message to teach your kids.

Lets get one thing straight - the coach disliked the other team not the team - I'm sure the kids would rather have played win or lose.

Lets see we drive to MD stay overnight at a hotel and then the coach decides to forfeit because of his politics towards another club/team.

NICE These are the people we trust with our kids.

WHAT? IS this true "Opposing coach could have ok'd to play, but said, NO!!"

I Don't know which one is worse.

How can you choose not to play just to get a win AT THE YOUTH SOCCER LEVEL?

Oh - let's blame gotsoccer.

Anonymous said...

Plenty of roster changing/switching going on. Most clubs have two or even three teams per age and will double roster girls all the time.
There is a saying when playing some of the larger clubs like pda in NJ and Bethesda in Maryland. Like a box of chocolate, never know who is on the roster?
In all fairness most rules/leagues/tournaments/ do allow what they call club passes, which allows a player to play on various teams within their club. Even playing up now and then. Suppose to be for player development...... but
they take advantage of it and stretch the rules for point gains and gotsoccer rankings.
The losers are the other girls on the teams that do not get the playing time, and of course other teams that when they have a chance, have it taken away when guess players show up.

Anonymous said...

Guest players for Crush??? Elaborate...

Anonymous said...

That sound you hear is NJX dropping like a stone. Second guessing that decision to add them Match Fit?

The real powers in NJ going forward are Crush, Match Fit, Rage and PDA (if they ever play).

Below that are SDFC, STA Red, TSF, Somerset, SJE,and NJX

Next level are Ajax, East Brunswick, Wildcats, and Dragons

Anonymous said...

Who said Njx dropped?

Anonymous said...

Fair, but I would add Manalapan and West windsor

Anonymous said...

...and never forget the GAK

Anonymous said...

I don't think either Match Fit or PDA care about being tops in NJ.

They bring in the talent because of opportunities to play in:

NPL (NYCSL)
NPL (EDP)
ECNL
Super Y
ASL
Region 1 Premier
Region 1 Colonial.

Some people are having fun bashing them - I wouldn't care if I was them or If my kid played for them - I know they are in good hands and they will play in games where the coaches will seek them out to watch instead of them seeking showcase tournaments when it matters.

The world of Youth Soccer - If you build it - they will come. PDA and Match Fit have a player pool most clubs would love to have and most parents would love their kid to be a part of and if you are not then you hate and bash it to bring it down.

it is what it is.

Anonymous said...

"PDA & Matchfit have player pools that most clubs would love to have..."

The PDA Dragons have a player pool that clubs like Jersey United, Copa, STA, ASA, SSC, Jersey Knights and FCC of NJ would love to have...tryout I mean.

I know, I know... their offense is work in progress, they bust their butts etc.

Anonymous said...

I wasn't going to say that.

But Let's call a spade a spade

PDA and Match Fit are brands that are known

Since you brought up PDA Dragons (their B team)

You already know that @

14/15/16/17/18 PDA A teams play in ECNL

and you also know that

at 14 their B team is in region 1 Colonial

at 15 their b team is region 1 Premier

at 16 their B and C teams play in region 1 colonial

at 17 their B team is in region 1 colonial.

When it matters these kids will play in leagues where they will be seen.

Will Jersey United, Copa, STA, ASA, SSC, Jersey Knights and FCC of NJ -

MAYBE

But ECNL and Region 1 leagues are the cream of the crop in our neck of the woods?

am I wrong?

and it looks like PDA and matchfit put teams in these leagues every year.

Do the others MAYBE? I don't know and I'm done talking about PDA and matchfit.

WOW Real madrid might be going home Manu U just went up 1-0 with 1 away goal in their back pocket.

later

Anonymous said...

Not so fast

Red Card followed by 2 goals and it's Man U going home. Still plenty of time but 2 away goals for Real now.

Back to youth soccer.

Did EDP post their spring acceptance list anywhere?

Just check out gotsoccer the
MANHATTAN KICKOFF CLASSIC 2013

One of the Five Big tournaments our region has (may have missed a few)
awarded the G12 PLATINUM Champion
8070 points. If your team is about rankings you gotta be crazy to miss out on this tournament next year.

If you play in Manhatten, Jefferson, PDA and Delco and are good enough to place or win two or three of these tournaments your team will be ranked No1 in the nation - and us parents can talk about that for days.

Below is what each flight brought to the table.

Good Kids, Good Coach, Good Parents, Good experience, PERIOD!

This is for 99% of you. Your child will go no further than Youth Soccer.

Smell it, Taste it, Swallow it!

However, it is proven that girls in youth sports, have an exponentially higher percentage of success in life. This does NOT include College sports or professional sports, just YOUTH SPORTS!

They also have a 50X(Fifty Times) better chance of going through life with a healthy body, which decreases the chance of obesity and the diseases that go with it.

The better teams will weed out those players that wish to continue to further their sports future. But we have a couple of years before that becomes a problem for us.

Ride the wave and love it! Have a great season!

Anonymous said...

Oh yeah ! and pda double cards and cheats, has to forfeit games. Some coaches not carrying their own personal coaches cards?

The FACT that pda had to forfeit games for carding issues, proves the win at all costs until you get caught. 3 rd time coach did not have card, still looking for it.
Taking new course to get new card before 2013 season.

Pay a lot of money to a coach/team/club with a coach that does not have a coaching card.

Very good clubs handle this.

Actually forfeiting games ! Guilty

Anonymous said...

The forfeited games by pda were at state cup?

Anonymous said...

these forfeits were not even at this age group, so go away. It was at u-11

Anonymous said...

no, actually the age group was U13 girls and it is ancient history. Get over it!

-Not a PDA parent but sick of the bashing

Anonymous said...

For goodness sakes, let go of the carding issue at U13. Go on the U13 blog and whine about it.

Anonymous said...

Not games, a game, at U13. The other coach could have agreed to start game and they would have had their cards before the game ended, if not by halftime. If not, then it would be a forfeit. The other coach was cut throat and his team got shutout and sent home the next week. At U11 PDA did have their cards AND won the Cup!

Anonymous said...

I think this is incorrect

A referee needs the card before the start of the contest.

Agreeing to delay the game is another story, but again - would need referee's approval.

Anonymous said...

The coach's card came less than 5 minutes after forfeit. Very sad for a coach to want to win by forfeit when it's just kids playing soccer.

Anonymous said...

Who was the other team?

Anonymous said...

This guy has been posting for months on every blog about this. You can not stop him, he is sick over his daughter being cut at older age. Let him be for now, 3805 it's all he has left and he will be exposed soon enough.

Anonymous said...

Cherry Hill.

Anonymous said...

11:30 3/5/2013 here.

I agree the referee needs to approve the game. But if both teams agree to wait then there is no issue. Once Cards are shown teams play.

I don't get the decisions not to play - but then again i wasn't at any of those games.

Couldn't the referee allow the game to start since all the players had their passes and if the coach didn't show his/her card by the end of the game then it was a forfeit.

At least this way the girls got a chance to play the game.

It's just sad to see adults stand in the way - I'm OKAY with RULES standing in the way that's why we have them - but at the youth soccer level - I think they could have played since all were at the game - either it would have been a scrimmage and a forfeit if no card was shown

or if Card was shown prior to the end of the game - then the result was valid.

That's doesn't sound complicated - why wouldn't the teams agree to that? Am I missing something?

Anonymous said...

So what if there really is/was not a valid coaches card for this coach. coach had carding issues prior and the games were allowed to go on and stand.
Finally a ref did not start game until all cards were present and valid. These are the rules right? How many times do people over look something only to find later that the person did not have it anyway.
Yes, this happened last year at state cup and is history.

Anonymous said...

9:48 Okay I'll play along - lets say the coach doesn't have a valid card.

Why not let the Girls play anyway (what did they do wrong?), where is development?

AND by the end of the game if no VALID card is shown - the result is a forfeit but the girls got to play a SCRIMMAGE.

No one said look the other WAY - the rules are the rules.

But my question is still - what did the girls do wrong?

Have teams not scrimmaged before without showing Cards?

I agree it is HISTORY and it will be lost in history because it's a GIRLS YOUTH SOCCER GAME not an UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GAME.

The Ref and the Coaches dropped the ball in my opinion on this one - they should have let the girls play - and then figure out Forfeit or not at the end of the game.

I guess I'm just not seeing the decision not to play.

Anonymous said...

I think what you are missing is the personal feelings, that one coach may have had for the PDA organization and the chance to get a win.

Anonymous said...

Coach actually showed the ref his card on his phone. And new the card was on its way. Cherry Hill coach should be ashamed of his self. Can you just imagine how a 12-13,year old girl must feel.

Anonymous said...

10:43 100% right ON

10:39 a win at u13 vs PDA (No way) over girls playing a game? Man I hope there is more to that than what you said.

WOW

Anonymous said...

This issue should be long dead and buried. He screwed up and the rules REQUIRE the coach to show his card before the game. Go to the site and read them. The ref did what he was REQUIRED to do. This is not a new rule or a particularly hard rule to follow. U8 coaches can generally handle this one. This was also not the first time the mighty Coach M. forgot his card, and he has gotten a pass on this before. Can we move on now?

Anonymous said...

No one is talking the rule is difficult to follow.

I'm talking why didn't both teams scrimmage each other since they were at the field.

What?

Forget the kids? a rule is a rule?

I'll move on but I think it's silly that keeps being brought up and we always avoid talking about the issue.

It's not the rule or that the Coach forgot his pass

TO ME why didn't the girls play at the very least a Scrimmage or a pick up game?

If we want to pretend we are all about development and the kids, why didn't the kids play?

Anonymous said...

Because it was more inmportant to the Cherry Hill coach to stick it to the PDA coach than it was for him to let his players compete.

We can all agree that it is very lame to claim victory by forfeit, when the team is right in front of you and ready to play. But it is even worse to claim victory by forfeit after the other defeats you 3-0.

Anonymous said...

Can we say liability ?

So the state/league will take responsibility for a team that does not a have a valid coach(with out the required documentations).

If you do not have a coaches license and current coaching card, then set up all the scrimmages you want outside of a league or state cup
competition.

Do you really know whom is coaching/training our girls? People would be surprised and outside of pda too.

Anonymous said...

No one is suggesting it is a bad rule.

But considering the CH coach knew the PDA coach had a card, and it would be arriving shortly, the consensus seems to be that the CH coach was being a prick.

Anonymous said...

I agree 12:19 & 12:22

But about liability? How is that an issue? Going by the rule it's a forfeit - No dispute, game is OVER.

But both teams are there - so why not scrimmage? A scrimmage doesn't fall under the umbrella of a league or state cup.

"But it is even worse to claim victory by forfeit after the other defeats you 3-0."

The order is flipped - You would claim victory by forfeit and then give the girls a chance to scrimmage if the coaches agree - who cares who wins during a scrimmage.

I'll let it be - but it's an interesting topic, we talk development, formats, tournaments and results.

Anonymous said...

Referee cannot work a scrimmage for liability reasons.

Just takes a serious injury for a paerent to sue the ref for having played the game.

Same goes for a game without a coach's card checked.

No card.......

Coach tells his kid to hacka player...player is seriously injured...

then what?

Anonymous said...

PDA forfeited game. No big deal.

Not sure if this is final, EDP/NPL is looking good for the Spring and the future if these teams stick and they add 1 or 2 teams each from CT, PA & MD plus if they can get 1, 2 or all 3 of the PDA teams - could be some great regional action at u12 and beyond.

I would think that most of the best U12 teams will be heading there. U12 girls won't likely be playing up at U13 since they move to the 5 ball. They may prefer to travel a bit more and play the better teams in the region at U12 vs playing up in closer leagues or tournaments.

EDP is a great league especially at the older ages.

Hey 3/5 2:01pm, I suggest you wait until some games are played this Spring before talking about "real powers going forward". Its obvious you haven't seen some teams play or you don't know what you're talking about. Either way we'll find out soon enough from actual game results, not from out of your azz.

FC Copa Lima is on one of our worst runs ever!

This team is a disaster and coach/club suffer from a very very sad trait for the girls involved: ASPIRATION

The coaches are also suffering from delusions unseen anywhere else in NJ soccer. THE STATS:

Last 20 games:

3 wins, 16 losses, 1 tie and
drumroll...57 goals allowed vs 10 scored

I have not posted here in a long time(everyone gave me crap and advice about where to take my daughter) but after this weekend's tournament, I just want to asks the coach to his face WHY ARE YOU FORCING US TO PLAY IN THESE BRACKETS AND EMBARRASS our girls/families and embarrass yourself as a piss-poor leader and coach!

We are not that good.

We lost to something called a "stronghold" ? in indoor soccer last week and then getting crushed by the Dragons(the butt jokes on this site for a year for their poor play) 5-0 is not my idea of fun!

Lets hit the re-set button! Stop our daughter's from quitting the sport man, please.

3-16-1 (10G 57GA) Let us play easier teams!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

maybe if Lima spent a little more time going after the ball and a little less time trying to beat up the opposing team maybe they could actually score a goal. btw way to coach little girls! NOT!

Anonymous said...

I actually applaud this person,Lima parent or not. I follow most clubs and see how they do and I am always amazed at the drubbing this coach is willing to take.

My best guess is he is one of those guys who thinks his coaching can make that much of a difference. In my experience, a good coach recognizes his talent level and then finds opponents/leagues/games/tournaments that will challenge the players yet instill confidence too.

This guy probably thinks, "Our parents want to play the best." But has he asked them how they feel never ever scoring a goal?

Anonymous said...

Lima parent (12:37 AM).

You obviously care about this and were up at 12:37 posting about it. You are probably justified to feel the way you do - the girls need to play a notch or 2 down. They work their way back up, if they belong.

Is the coach reading this blog ?

I think you be better served not to vent your frustration in this forum, but either you or you and other like-minded parents approach the coach and ask for him to consider dropping down a notch so the girls can actually be competitive.

Putting it here, while it serves the purpose of you venting, I can't see it making the positive change you are after. The coach will either not know about it, or if he does, I can't see that he would appreciated the way this was done in this manner, so he may dig his heals in even more .. who knows.

Perhaps he's been approached already.

Anyway - good luck.

Great weekend for Toms River.A $800
a year team destroying a $2500+ a year pda team.
This TR team will be the talk of this blog and many more as they even get older and go on the National scene in a couple of years.
I know they would like to add two more impact players for next season. WOW

Anonymous said...

No pda forfeits this pass weekend. Tournaments do not check cards as hard as league play.

Anonymous said...

I have seen Toms River play many times. After losing their 2 best players they basically play 8 on Defense now plus the goalie & hope for a lucky bounce/breakaway to win it. Looks like that's what happened in game versus PDA. Not a "WOW" moment in my book but hey, if it works it works...what's the saying even a blind squirrel finds a chestnut or coconut or whatever it is that they eat.

Anonymous said...

East Brunswick also beat the mighty PDA team this weekend.

Playing 8 on defense does not speak volumes for TR. If that is the case then Rage broke through their 8 and scored 3 goals. Rage is a top team in the state.

I guess the better teams have 4, 5 or 6 players not defending at all.

Heh - dont think so.

Observations from FC Europa Turf Cup and other stuff.

The Ukrainians (Champions) have set themselves up for a nice cup run. Although the score of some of their games was fairly close, the outcomes never seemed in doubt. I think their coach does a nice job of doing just enough to win, while also getting the bottom of his roster quality minutes. It's a shame they are sitting out Jeff Cup.

FC Revolution (Finalist) are a force to be reckoned with. They are big and fast, both on defense and the attacking end. Their goalie is very very good too. I did not see their 4-6 loss to the Ukrainians, but I am stunned they let in that many goals. They usually play very tight defense (in contrast, the Ukrainians seem very comfortable allowing 3 or 4 goals a game, but still managing to win). I'm sure they're disappointed that they lost the Championship, but they did register a nice 3-2 win over Nether in what I hear was a very entertaining game. FC Rev is also sitting out the Jeff Cup.

Nether was denied the finals by losing to FC Rev, but they took care of business against the other teams they faced. Overall a good weekend for them as they finally seem to be scoring some goals. They are in the second highest bracket for Jeff Cup.

FC Europa (formerly TEYSA Liberty) won PAGS D2 in the fall, and only lost to the Ukrainians 3-5. Their other competition was not so good, but they took care of business. Not going to Jeff Cup.

Going in to State Cups you can put the teams into the following tiers (my opinion, but backed up by PAGS results and recent tournament play; "*" = what division at Jeff Cup they will play in):

West Chester *

Ukrainians
FC Revolution
Penn Legacy **

Nether Providence **
HMMS ***

Lehigh Valley ***
Deep Run ****
YMS *****
Wyoming Valley

Everyone else (Hulmeville *****, Westmont, Lower Merion, Council Rock, BSA Rage, Spirit United, North Union).

Whoever wins will likely depend on the draw. Especially who gets to play at home. Lehigh Valley, for example, is very tough at home (they use two fields: a large, closely cut fast track and another small field with high grass on a mesa...if you run out of bounds you fall down a hill on three sides), as are the Ukrainians (bumpy field).

It will be nice when NJ and PA are both doing 11v11 and can start to play each other.

PDA had two bad loses this weekend.
First they got out played and out coached by East Brunswick. Then over powered by Toms River.
PDA has alot of explaining to do to those parents paying top dollar.

Anonymous said...

What tournament did TR beat PDA, and what PDA team did they beat?

Anonymous said...

Toms River did surprise everyone.

At this , one or two additions can effectively impact a team.

East Brunswick looked impressive. Get a trained goalie and they could
be a factor for a long time.

Anonymous said...

Who did TR surprise? Rage?
Rage probably thought it would be more difficult considering TR's history...If (3) of the weakest teams in the State were surprised by TR....That's not saying much for TR...You can't play weak teams and think that you are something special. If TR would have beaten Rage, we could say, WOW, TR surprised us! Get over yourselves!

"Would agree that pda looked out of shape and winded. Some were probably a little or a lot over weight. Very unimpressed with pda. A running or conditioning coach is extra $ and not included in the fees.
Best time for pda was snack time after the lost game."

I didn't say all that. I just meant they could run fast and late in the game, they were gassed. they probably don't run. Coaches often ignore fitness because the only have 3 or 4 hours of coaching to do each week. though most academies and competitive town clubs add a day of speed and/or strength/acl prevention training.

The Dragons probably don't do that.

Anonymous said...

Why would you call Toms River and East Brunswick common town teams? East Brunswick has played nothing but the best of the best for the last 2 years and given every team a tough time.
As far as Toms River goes they had a rough season last year but they seem to be back on the right track.
Instead of bashing the Dragons, why not give some credit to East Brunswick and Toms River and all of the other teams for a FUN weekend of soccer.

Anonymous said...

Looks to me that Rage had a easier way to the finals. All the teams looked tired in their last game but rage. That is the reason they win ,they been playing all winter and they have a deeper bench then the other teams.....example,A few players from Toms river,Manalapan, and East Brunswick could easily start on Rage, but all of Rage players could make or start on those teams....PDA games i saw were competitive .Your kids didn't quit when down late in the game, and tied one game in the last seconds.......The game i saw against Toms river, both teams looked better then i thought they would so early in the season.I stuck around to watch the final ,but Toms river looked like a different team, way to defensive against Rage.Close game till half way thru the second half. Can,t wait to see these 4 teams play later in the season. No doubt Rage was the best team there, but no different then last year.the other teams showed improvement from last year.

Anonymous said...

Sayreville reincarnated, I mean East Brunswick, is a very good town team for sure. Toms River with 8 defenders playing every game to tie is also a very good town team. Those teams could not keep up with Rage, NJX & Storm. I don't even think they would beat Wildcats & they're a lower level academy team that gloats when they beat La Samba Bamba. Wait, they beat them twice in past few months so maybe they aren't that low of a level afterall.

Jefferson Cup can't come soon enough!

Anonymous said...

hmmmmmm...smells like, sounds like, reads like...drumroll...an NJX parent beating up on Wildcats for some reason. I'm going to go out on a limb & guess that NJX is playing Wildcats this weekend. This blog is going to be lighting up on Monday 3/18. Stay tuned...

Anonymous said...

How did Toms River score so many goals with everyone playing back?LOL. they must have one hell of a striker!! Any team we played that played 8 back scored ZERO goals or tried to protect a 1 goal lead. From what i saw Toms river lost a few big players, certainly not their best players .

Anonymous said...

Lets get serious. There is Rage, NJX & Storm. Crush is in the mix for sure. After that there is a huge dropoff & yes Wildcats you are on the lower end of that dropoff. Beating Samba twice in a few months is not worth gloating about & going in here announcing it is bogus if you ask me.

& I disagree with 7:05, the Blogs are NOT going to be lit up on Monday 3/18 they WILL on Sunday evening 3/17 on way home.

Anonymous said...

NJX looked less then impressive in nyc. i certainly hope for a better showing from NJX, and RAGE in JEFFERSON.....Cant wait to see them.

Anonymous said...

Thats the perfect example of why we love when Jersey's best get there ass kicked

Anonymous said...

NJX vs Calvert Crew early Saturday might be a bit of an awakening

Good club.

Anonymous said...

Another bitter blogger not in the Jefferson cup.... I know.... Why would you drive all the way down to VA to play? Answer- Because we were invited. Have fun sitting on the couch this weekend.

Anonymous said...

Not sure who that was aimed at.

I think the big game Saturday is NJX vs Crush Tsunami.

NJX sought some revenge in Manhattan for the indoor losses but the matchup didn't occur

Anonymous said...

I just hope Rage has a very good showing at Jefferson. Less then good will result in possibly losing a few on the way back. Winning teams recruit at big tourneys. A couple Rage might be wearing Blue on the way home.

Anonymous said...

I have heard there were a couple Rage girls recently at PDA sessions and SJEB sessions, HHMMMMMM with out the Freedom that club will sink, because the other teams are no where near the level of them. There U-12 team can't even win at the 4th flight of sjgsl

Anonymous said...

Of course girls will leave these type of teams. Nice to stay with club and friends and do well but to really take the next step you will need to join clubs like PDA and Match Fit.

You don't think parents are reaching out to these clubs to see where there kids fit in?

Anonymous said...

Only the ones that can afford it. Unfortunately we have a soccer budget for two girls and one boy. pda types not in the picture, so we will jump up and down, and hoot and shout the few times we beat them. Great players that could play with any team, but need to keep them close to home and studying. Coach does get upset when we go to church on Sundays, but he knew that before.

Anonymous said...

Why would any player from Rage want to leave possibly the best team in the state at U-11? The two clubs you referred to have not beaten the Rage in any regular season games. The coach does an outstanding job with these girls. This weekend they are playing up at Jeff Cup in U-12. It will be a great opportunity for Rage work on their game in prep for spring season and the cup

Anonymous said...

12:37

Amen. You're good for youth soccer.

Best of luck to your threesome.

Anonymous said...

12:21 I disagree with - "take the next step you will need to join clubs like PDA and Match Fit."

Maybe last year I would have agreed with you - but with all the posts about NPL - I did a little research.

Rage plays in EDP which is an NPL league. So for rage or any other team that is in NPL starting at u13 if they win the league they go to a National Cup - where there will be a lot of exposure for these girls same as if they played for PDA & MatchFit.

I like that we have two NPL leagues near for our teams to join. So if your team isn't in the NYCSL then they have a chance in the EDP.

I kind of like this model better than the ECNL or ASL models, since it's league based and clubs don't have to travel to 3 or 4 events to play their games keeping costs down for the parents.

Anonymous said...

12:37 poster nice job!, I also have a three child budget for this sport. The thing that I do not completely understand is the need to go to an academy at an older age if your child has talent. I am from the old school so I have always thought that College's would always be able to find talent, even in the High Schools. Some of our children may even end up playing different sports and possibly being good at those. As always, good luck this spring and may all the girls stay healthy.

Anonymous said...

You might want to do a little more research. NPL is club driven, you must have teams at every age group in order to be a part of league. EDP currently is team driven, but you will see this is will be changing also!

Anonymous said...

I thought NPL is a collection of leagues not clubs and it was up to the league how to run itself.

So are you telling me EDP will change to the NYCSL league format where Clubs will have to be accepted and then put a team into the each age bracket? Boys and Girls?

Interesting - I did not see that in the NPL presentation, must have missed it.

So the core Clubs that don't have a team in each bracket will be kicked out?

Thanks

Anonymous said...

Not true.
EDP is actively expanding
and now has teams in Maryland too.

All these leagues will rise and expand b/c there is too much money to be made in youth soccer.

Lots of choices, and they all are good depending on your personal circumstances. Money, travel , time, other children, school, and did I mention money.

Find the one that is right for you and your daughter.

The ecnl mandatory travel and game ratio does not fit us.plus costs too much not to playing more games.
Region 1- crazy travel schedule and only in Spring. 7 maybe 8 games ? Although Nationally recognized. need to add a couple tournaments, besides regionals.
ASL- Glorified tournament play.
Ultimate Club play- not in our area yet? again too expensive.
EDP-needs to work out the wrinkles , but will be a factor for the younger ages.
ODP- Great supplement. Again Nationally recognized.
Super Y- part of odp,Not always sure whom is playing, Great if not doing summer tourneys and/or team camps.

Top regional leagues. I see some teams have chosen too continue play in their local league ie(WAGS or MAPS,JAGS,PAGS) and stay in a premium league mentioned above.

Youth soccer- MIX and Match, two for one, and guest play.....

Out of control, but you know already.

done my research (common opponents, internet searches, etc) ready to make my jeff cup odds for teams to win it all:

nj crush 2-1
njx 3-1
calvert crew 10-1
vardar 20-1
wildcats 25-1

i am NOT a parent of any of thee teams, have played against some of them though. thoughts?

Anonymous said...

Those odds looks about right to me but really no research needed to come to that conclusion. Pretty safe to say that the winner of Jefferson Cup will be either NJX or Crush. I'd personally be shocked if it were anyone else though admittedly I know nothing about the Calvert Crew nor Vardar teams. Wildcats just little from these blogs but never seen them play.

Anonymous said...

How does Super Y work?

DO you have to be a member of USL to play or is open to non-usl teams, it looks like a nice Summer League.

Anonymous said...

Ok, I know I am late to see this, but PLEASE tell me PDA Storm is not going all the way to Virginia to play BOTTOM FLIGHT (5th flight) U12. If it's true, can one of the superior PDA parents please explain the logic of this to me.

Anonymous said...

no logic

Anonymous said...

All you guys bashing PDA and RaGe for playin in U12 "bottom" bracket at Jefferson Cup need to get a clue. They are playin two teams that are top 5 in their states and the others are top 20. Find something real to complain about.

Anonymous said...

Hey crush parent with your 2 to 1 odds, be careful.
Your u12 team thought they were great too and all your other teams are zeros. So you have 2 coaches too? You have lost your 2 best teams that came over and left. The more you talk, the more you expose yourself. You had success in 2 tournaments that no one else played in and this age group is weak. By the way, for the 3k your are spending, you should get a some fields to play on and not the mud pit we played you on.

Anonymous said...

Maybe only the congenial get the turf

Anonymous said...

Why even play at u11 at 11 v 11?
All the brackets and good teams are playing 8v8, and they always have at this age at Jeff cup. The 11 v 11 is a money maker for jersey teams with no clue.
There is one bracket, odds are pretty good for another lay up and bragging rights.

Anonymous said...

Yeah everyone, stop bashing PDA!

They have the greatest Recruiting program in NJ!

Anonymous said...

Agreed, their players all get recruited.

Anonymous said...

wait until you see the next years u12 team.

8:51 --- i am not a crush parent, i am not a parent going to jeff cup. i wish i was contrary to what a lot people say i tihnk great experience for my daughter. i came up with these odds based what i know about the teams (my daughter;s team unfortunately has gotten spanked from one of them few times), the research i did & some word of mouth. thought it would be fun to post it. if i'm wrong so be it, just a guideline that i thought i'd throw out there for some feedback.

Anonymous said...

Been there. absolutely no reason to travel to Jeff Cup and play up at bottom flight. Long trip /expensive/ no reward for trip except that you went. Plenty of time to go to Jeff when it means something and a team can get points for it. ???

Leave Friday mid-day and get back late Sunday evening,5 hours, 2 nights hotel, food, for 3 GAMES IN BOTTOM FLIGHT OF U-12- NO POINTS.

I guess no one has other kids or a life outside of soccer.

Jeff Cup is awesome and important at u-13 top two flights. See ya in two years.

Anonymous said...

Yes, agreed. Jeff cup is not worth at this age, unless it was closer and just a spring warm up. If you are playing 8v8, different story, great comp.

Anonymous said...

Why would anyone say it is safe to say it will b njx or crush winning the jefferson cup. Calvert plays alot of u12 and does very well at u12. They have also already beaten crush. The michigan team won 4 of 5 games at disney. Is that so the bashing can start if they dont win

Anonymous said...

Calvert's a great team who has already beaten Tsunami, though another I havent seen play 11 v 11.

Michigan Vardar I believe is state champs from U10, whatever weight that might carry (also 8 v 8 of course).

Any perceived "layup" for Crush and NJX is

a) a little absurd

and

b) the result of PDA and Rage if they asked to be moved.

I think the cool thing is the 4 game guarantee that came out of that. No team needs to worry about going 2-1 and losing some tiebreaker.....

Anonymous said...

"Wait til you see next year's U12 team"

Are they actually planning to play other than State Cup and their own events?

Anonymous said...

"If you are playing 8v8, different story, great comp."

If you are in the right flight.

Anonymous said...

Who does it look like - Westchester PA and Tophat GA in the finals of 8 v 8 top division?

Anonymous said...

Why is PDA going to Jefferson to play absolute bottom flight U12? Reasons are very simple if you understand the PDA way:

1. Their coach is there with his U13s

2. Once the coach is going, the club can make much more money with him having 2 teams there.

3. They could care less about the costs and inconvenience to their Storm parents who get to wear those mighty 3 letters on all of their clothing

4. So why U12? Same reason they are playing Jags U12 - can't lose to NJX, Crush, etc and still claim their superiority.

The better question is why do the parents go along with this?

Anonymous said...

"The better question is why do the parents go along with this?

Easy answer. So they can say their daughter plays on PDA.

Why do some parents have concerns as to who is playing where; who plays for what team, club, academy; why teams elect to play up when the opportunity presents itself; and other insignificant issues in the global scope of things. Your child's development as a respectful, productive individual should be the number one priority. At least all of us have the chance to be with our kids and enjoy the sport of soccer and the socialization that occurs in the process of being part of a team. People need to not live vicariously through their children. Be proud of their accomplishments and let them be kids. They will be grown and out on their own before you know it. Soccer is only a chapter in your child's life. Enjoy it for the fun of the game!

Anonymous said...

9:05 I agree

Anonymous said...

what would GAK odds be if they were in Jefferson Cup this weekend? 1,000-1? Just kidding...we like the GAKers...

Anonymous said...

Why doesn't JAGS and PAGS team up to give us MAGS (Mid-Atlantic Girls Soccer) and make it a Premier league - we would have options for teams/clubs in both state to choose 8v8 or 11v11 at u11 and u12 plus bringing together some good clubs to plays to some good soccer for our kids? or even better yet make it an NPL to challenge EDP & NYCSL

" US Club Soccer has created the Premier Leagues platform, a network of leagues in local, statewide and similar geographic regions for competitive clubs and teams. Premier Leagues will include U-10 to U-18 but must include a minimum of five age groups.

An initial group of eight leagues from across the country have been designated as part of the Premier Leagues platform:
Alliance Premier Soccer League (Ohio and Pa.)
Indiana Champions League (Ind.)
Major Island Soccer Organization (Hawaii)
New York Club Soccer League* (N.Y.)
NorCal Premier League* (Calif.)
Northern Illinois Soccer League* (Ill.)
Oregon Premier League* (Ore.)
Washington State Premier League* (Wash.) "

Anonymous said...

So the by reading this I guess the NYCSL - RPL is now a US Club Premier league? So the NY league now has an NPL and a Premier League for the NY, CT and NJ teams playing in those leagues.

Will EDP follow?

Anonymous said...

Besides longer travel for the teams that want to play against the best teams in the region - do you think what US Club Soccer is trying to do is a good thing for US Soccer?

I like the concept and the Model. It gives our girls and their teammates another option. Win your league and go to Nationals instead of - great job see you next season.

I know not for everyone - but for the clubs that are committed to taking our kids on the soccer joy ride of their life and for the parents that are committed and willing to sacrifice time and money for this - I think it's a great thing for those that can.

Anonymous said...

I'm not in favor of going any further than the current 1.5 hours each way to play one league game.

I find it absurd to travel to MD or MASS (3.5-5.5 hours) to play one game on a Sunday.

I hope I am not in the minority on this.

Tournaments of course are an entire different animal.

Anonymous said...

Glad some folks out there are keeping the economy going. Keep traveling.

Anonymous said...

I guess to each their own.

As long as you are not the reason the team isn't traveling.

My kid loves playing soccer, I love watching my kid play soccer. I love sports and love watching a good game.

So if it takes putting $30 in the gas tank to go to a game - I'm not going to cry, I'll keep on traveling.

Multiply that by 5 away games and we got a buck 50 - when i was younger i used to smoke cigarettes and party at the limelight, palladium, webster hall, cbgb and my favorite mosh pit of them all Roseland - so I guess $150 for a season of soccer (3 months) is not a lot of money to throw away to keep the economy going when it's for my KID.

Like I said to each their own.

Anonymous said...

Do the math in traveling. Traveling at this age is.... just crazy, but most are first timers and it is exciting.

Drove to Maryland last Fall. Try $50 each way in gas=$100 plus about $20 in run around gas-total $120.00
Hotel- 2 nights at $109plus taxes+135.00 x two= $270
Food - eating out won't count ,but make it a plus. Tournament fee-$45
Tolls $8.50X2=$17.00

Total $452.00 plus food at min.
probably close to $600.

Time?

It has been too quite about GAK.
So GAK starts the spring season against Middletown Red. GAKSTER, here is your preview of the watered down MOSA premier season. Get out of this tournament with 2 wins you will have a nice season.

Good luck

So pda forfeited games and it is ok?

whether it was last year or last game, pda had carding issues and was disqualified. Nice.

Anonymous said...

Wow, it has been 137 consecutive posts without a forfeit reference from our "Anti-PDA-I-have-a-bug-in-my-shorts-about-carding-in-an-entirely-different-age-group-from-a-year-ago" friend. Let's see if we can break the record. Let's go for 200...and I don't care if they are all about the GAK.

Anonymous said...

To 2:35, what tournament is GAK in?

Anonymous said...

Understood, but MD, MA, VA these are mini vacations to places you would never have visited or at least i wouldn't. Why not enjoy that time instead of worrying about how much it costs.

I get it - I do - not trying to be a ball buster, but if the money is an issue don't do premier soccer - scale it down to Town/Classic/Rec there is no travel and the fess are small - your kid will be a SUPERSTAR at every game- it's a win win.

I always thought travel came with the understanding that you are going to TRAVEL? and travels costs money.

What age to start - yeah that's the million dollar question. I have no problem starting at u11

Anonymous said...

I'd think many families use their family vacation time - and bucks - and go to tourneys instead of say....Disney, Vegas, wherever.

If you are wise and have an extra day you can also make it educational (this week Richmond......full of history, last fall DC......)

Anonymous said...

8:04 --- could not agree with you more. these tourneys are great chances for family to spend time together, chat in car, etc. & you are absolutely right that you have to expect this with travel. the only other alternative is to join GAK & beat up teams in MOSA premier. & we all know MOSA premier this yr is really like Nat4 from 4-5 yrs ago. That is how bad MOSA has become. i mean you have GAK, Middletown & Colts Neck playing premier. what would those teams do against NJX, PDA, Crush, Rage? I even think Wildcats would smack those teams around to tune of 3-0 or 4-0. Mind you that would be our score at halftime --- sorry Wildcats starting to enjoy smacking you around cause you will learn this weekend you don't belong with the "big girls"!

Anonymous said...

?
Vacation at tournaments? Sounds good ,but never happens no matter how well you plan.

Game schedules out maybe two in advance. Weather delays. Getting to fields that are always difficult to find an hour before game.
So travel Friday afternoon into evening-stay in hotel.
Saturday game at 9am but have to get up early(7am) to eat and get ready for game and be there at 8am.
2nd game at 2pm. no time except get hydrated and have a little lite lunch to get to game by 1pm in which the last game ended at 11:30.
so now after second game it is say
3:30pm-Plenty of time to do something right? Think again, all the girls want to do is go to the pool etc... dinner at say Ruby's and first game is Sunday morning at 9am again.
So is they do well wait arounf to play final at 2pm. and game ends at 3:30 on Sunday afternoon and still 4-5 hours from home,NJ.
If they do not do well, everyone disappointed and does not want to do anything, still a long long 4-5 hours to home,NJ.

Have other kids? Job? school?

And that great time of 4-5 hours in the car each way. We either have another player or two with us, or she is with another player.
And if she is the the only one with us , texting, calling others, playing games, NAPPING most likely,
if a good student doing some reading/home work.

Maybe one away tourney a YEAR until u-13,u-14- I have two boys and one girl-Please !

Richmond and downtown Baltimore are flat out ugly. I can see Washington and or Philly, or something near the beach in warm weather. Williamsburg is very cool.

How many guest players will they bring??

Anonymous said...

11:03 --- Thats only way they can keep it close for like maybe first 20 minutes to halftime & they know it. Won't matter though, it will be 0-0 maybe one goal lead for us at half time then we run away with it 2nd half. Let the games begin!!!

Anonymous said...

9:08 Some quick points

Vacation at tournaments always works - stay an extra day or two. Of course the girls are going to want to hang together when their not playing soccer, it would be crazy if they didn't.

But maybe travel not for the people you outlined.

If they have more than one kid and or their Job gets in the way - it's not fair to the rest of the team - if that kid is always missing practice/games.

All the kids have school - so school is no excuse - if the kid can't handle the extra workload - then they need to drop some of the extras. School should always be number ONE.

The car rides are always interesting depending on when you are driving. Agreed if you drive overnight, then it's a one man show - but during the day, I can't speak for other families - but we always have something to talk about.

Like I said - Travel soccer is just that Travel soccer - it's going to cost money - but it's an opportunity to travel while having your kid doing something they like.

Safe trip to all driving down to VA.

Anonymous said...

Agree, travel soccer is fun and you better have money to spend, if not don't do it like many other things in life that you can't afford. Still think Jeff cup sucks at this age playing 11v11 when all the great teams from south aren't playing.
Will be nice getting an easy win, but Sunday night 9 hour drive home will be miserable.

12:44 Agreed

coach just called and said he forgot his card again, and is half way down to Jefferson Cup. Probably won't check, but just in case he wanted everyone to know that he forgot it. He has it, but forgot it. Really, I could fedx it and I have it, but just forgot it. If really needed, I could have someone fax it, because I really have it. Now, if my girlfriend from last night can't find it, just wanted you guys to know that I do really really really have it.
We would've forfeited more then just one game if I did not have it, even though no one really checks or just glances at the fake I carry just in case I forget the real one, which I really have, but left at another field.
And anyone that cares about cards just does not know or care about soccer. Just soccer haters that's all. I love pda

NJX got CRUSHED again, total domination.

Theb11 v 11 is not the top division, it's the only division.
Assuming crush didn't win, otherwise we would have seen new posting 5 minutes after game ended.a

L O L! THATS WHAT YOU THINK.

Held a Vigil for NJX tonight.

I threw $800 cash in my grill and watched it burn for 6 hours to simulate how they will feel tomorrow on the ride home.

Looking forward to seeing the score in tomorrows "Bottom Feeder Bowl". Wildcats and NJX fighting for the kids that Rage and PDA cut.

How did GAK do today in the Middletown Spring Kickoff?

Anonymous said...

Michigan and MD teams are the class in VA...

and Cats only lost to MICH 1-0.....

also stole a point from Calvert Crew (MD) by spoiling their shutout bid (nice breakaway goal with Wilcats player deftly dribbling around keeper for the tally)

NJX looks to play spoiler tomorrow vs MICH after a decent Saturday......

No non tournament games yesterday for anybody??

Any results from the Middletown tourney?

Gakster said...

Middletown got cancelled... Rescheduled for next Saturday...
They got lucky, because the GAK is on FIRE right now....

Anonymous said...

This is what i hate about this blog,if Rage ,NJX,or PDA is not in Middletown they don't think its important.Only their kid and their team is important.....The GAK gets no respect.

Anonymous said...

Cancelled?! Because of the snow? What are they soft over there in Middletown or were the fields in bad shape? We need the GAK out there.

Hey, GAK-tard - your GAK parents are embarrassed at your comments. You should spend less time posting stupidity and more time with your other kids.
