Strikers, Quickstrike, Copa, SJEB.Quickstrike v Copa final
Strikers vs Century equals Strikers 3-0. They get better constantly and will have everyone present. If they have a close game I will be surprised. They are a team where truly past results do not mean anything. If they play PF again it will be a blow out. They will have watched the tapes and found where your weakest. And attack it. Over the top for u14.
Copa= no chance
Your giving the Strikers too much credit. They are a nice team and I agree they will continue to improve and probably dominate outside the ECNL in years to come. But they don't have all the horses just yet. That team still could use some help in areas. They have definite weaknesses. But then again, so does every team in this age group.
Wish the Strikers had entered Stars Cup in Boston. That looks to be the real tournament to watch Labor Day. Stars, NEFC, World Class, Bethesda...Lots of good games. Copa, Santos, and Quickstrike will be tested. Too bad Gunners aren't in this one either. Pride and Atletica are in what is arguably second tier (even though it gets even billing with the above mentioned bracket)
10:03 I hope you like to eat crow.
Gunners will be at FC Stars, just check the Athletica and Pride rosters .
Century United loses first game. Long road to finals and victory over Strikers.
Pride and Atletica are in the second flight, no argument needed. The names of the flights are similar, but that's all. No even billing.
Looks like Copa and Century out
I love blowhards getting a high via their kids accomplishments. . Have you played a sport competitively? Truth... Strikers out played PF the first Game. PF girls were nervous, as we all know PAS are 3rd in the nation, correct? (love GS). Final, lucky. Blown call with 20 seconds left in tied game, you saw, it happened right in front of you. Re-hashing unnecessary. Equally skilled PF and PAS players,. PAS players pounding the ball out of bounds, as PF continued aggressive attack most of 2nd half. Had PF players taken just a little longer to retrieve 1 of those, game goes into OT. Time management, check, learned. It's about tactics now, and ir you think PAS has a lock on training tactics, frankly, you're a fool.Did PAS lose to the Gunners in a friendly, learn from that tape? They will. be PF true test. PDA is probably not getting any better either, by your account, only PAS knows how to train. PDA placed more girls in D1 schools, probably this year alone, than PA Strikers ever. I am certain though, if those girls were good enough, they would play for PAS.Who wants to be part of that toxicity? Your comments are a testament to your insecurity. petty, ugly people feel whole by putting others down. When secure in your ability, and decisions, there's no need for bragging, and the constant ramming down of everyone's throats how great your team is. YAWN. Our girls played together, laughed together, formed friendships at the RI camp. Why parents are idiots, I do ponder. Look, I can be an idiot also, Good luck in PAGS, bet you win the division.
4:15What happened- love the meaningless smack talk. Tr in semi's, Copa out. Century out. PAS in.
12:14 am up posting? Seriously? Loser. Ramblings of someone who is not of sound mind. I have a child on one of these teams but after that post im afraid to admit which one. I don't care who's better, i think currently its clear but only time will tell. That being said who cares which is better if your child is seeing top competition, getting good training, learning teamwork, getting exercise, etc... Couple pieces of advice, don't log on after midnight especially if you haven't taken your medication, get help if you have to but above all get a life.
Strikers win 2-1 in finals at Spirit. SJEB loses in semi's
Quick strike 0-3. ??
Kinda hard to have any flow with 12hr delay on posts. Mods please fix?
Strikers win Spirit. Just facts, not bragging. I just watched the game, no skin in it.
What happened to PDA Columbus Day tournament. Logged on to see accepted teams and tourney not listed anymore?????
Maybe other clubs are tired of funding PDA teams thru tournaments!!Why keep putting money in the pockets of club who will grab your best player for the next season.
Hi to the post that said that the gunners will be at stars. They will no pda athletica and pride will be there. Pride as a full team and Athletica has 15 players. They might get one from the gunners, gunners have been busy this summer and are preparing for the ecnl season . So Athletica an pride will do this on there own
Best of luck to the NJ teams traveling up to FC Stars of Mass this weekend - looks like the best tournament competition in Region I this weekend - surprised more of the Gotsoccer rated top 3 in the state and region aren't attending.
Wheer were thos teams
Well , we will finally see some soccer action this weekend. ECnl regular season starts Saturday. It will be interesting now that NJ has two ecnl teams now . Lets see how the Matchfit ecnl experiment works out . They play the Pda Gunners this weekend, we will find out if they are anywhere ready for primetime . I would think not
10:37 am,I agree this weekend they wont be ready but lets have this conversation again where I think when they have a chance to play together as a team I think it will be a different story in the spring
HI, spring or whenever don't think they will have the same talent level as the gunners . Ever girl that left with the exception of one came from the other gunners non encl team, not sure it will make much difference in the spring
My dad can beat up your dad
scores from this weekend?
How did matchfit do this weekend?
Where does one find.the u-13 and u-14 ecnl schedules for he fall. The website is a mess.
MF lost both games
they lost to World class 3-1 and PDA 2-1, I found out that 3 Oreilly girls now play on that Gunner ECNL team.
PDA B team beat Match Fit B team.
Will those 3 girls rejoin O'Reilly in the spring, or are they now staying with the Gunners which I assume is now a grade appropriate team?
U13 ECNL schedules have never been posted as it's considered pre-ECNL. To get the U14 schedules you can click on the member club link and look at each team in an individual club until they put up the schedules and standings for 2013-2014. U13 schedules mirror u14 in most cases.
Those o'reilly girls you refer to will be back on O'reilly in the spring when their team is back in action . The rest of o'reilly is playing high school in the fall. These girls you refer to 8th graders .
Which team is PDA B - Atletica or Pride?
"Which team is PDA B - Atletica or Pride?"B Team would be the team playing in the NPL. US Club trying to set up a pyramid with ECNL on top and NPL next.PDA North has their draw in the North with the ECNL teams, They need to build and draw in the south. Thats why they have given the NPL to the South.NPl will eventually be a feeder for successful NPL clubs and teams into the ECNL.It does not mean that the NPL team will necessarily be better than the second teams in the North but certainly from a business prospective, it is important to build up the South program so that it attracts the stronger players in that area to the PDA club. This would be less likely if they made the south team the 3rd team of this age group.also note the Northeastern Npl mission statement is to allow NPL players to play with ECNL team. I am of course skeptical of this but it certainly seems that the club is trying to make the PDA south team the second team of PDA.
Lets also clarify something about last weekend, the girls on the gunners that sat out the Gunner-MFA game that werent on the Sun. roster played for the NPL team that beat the MFA NPL team.
Last year anyway, Pride was certainly better than Atletica. So it would make sense for Pride to beat Matchfit B, which is last years Atletica.
PDA is a total money hungry scam! At Atletica and Pride tryouts, girls were told they would have the opportunity to get pulled up to Gunners and now they are playing O'R girls? Wonder how many Atletic and Pride girls are rostered to Gunners??uhmmm big fat zero! Oh maybe in the spring, after the last payment is due.
Do PDA south parents get a discount for being second (or third) tier?
10:16Your are correct that parents were fed a load of BS during tryouts. Parents were lead to believe that there would be switching back and forth and that South players would earn an ECNL spot if they were deserving. That is not going to happen in the fall with the OR players playing on the Gunners.4:59No need to put BS on this board to stir trouble. You unfairly diminish the accomplishments of a team a Pride team that played hardlast weekend with untrue statements. You imply that a bunch of Gunners came down from the North and beat the Match Fit NPL team. The Pride has 16 roster spots filled which means that they can bring 2 girls from the North into NPL games. Against Match Fit, 1 Gunner Player played and she played about half of the game.I don't have any issues with players going from North to South if there are roster spots available. The subbing rules for NPL make it sensible to have a complete roster. I do have an issue with it not being both ways because it is clear that swapping of players from North to South is only in one direction even if there is a deserving player from the South.
Would love to hear from a PDA south parent on this practice? It cannot feel good to watch your daughter sit out while the north girls get playing time, especially when it is not reciprocated.
There nothing wrong with North players playing in the South. It will be 1-2 players maximum and I don't think that it will be a playing time issue especially with NPL subbing rules, (7 per half and when you are taken out you can't go back in in a half). I am supportive of a one PDA mentality where players can play north or south based on merit. It creates a healthy level of competition and creates opportunity. The fact that it will not go both ways bothers me. It seems that the whole system right now is one for the north to send their non-rostered ECNL players to the south to keep them getting playing time and experience rather than their being an opportunity for NPL players to get experience at the ECNL level. We were told there would be joint training sessions with Gunners and Pride over the summer to evaluate players jointly for ECNL and get experience playing together. It never happened over the summer, but we are told it will be happening soon. The hype of being told that any PDA player can earn a spot on to play with the ECNL team has been just that....hype.
PDA south was told that last year and this year....still waiting.
2 girls from the Pride have played for the Gunners
I was told your coach told the team not to expect Pride Players to play up North in the Fall season. Have any Pride girls been asked to guest in a tournament or play in ECNL games? It don't sound like it will be a regular thing. Sound like the Gunners will be playing on the Pride though. What happened to your big joint practices?
Look enough talk about the pda club, during the first two weekends and 4 games form the gunners , only 1 girl played in the south and that was for a half . I dont see wholesale moving of players fromnorth to south at all . 1 girl in the first 3 games is not a big deal so move on to another topic
"enough about the PDA club" why because you don't like the light shining down on the truth. The south has only played 1 game this Fall and had Gunners there, and if you believe this board the Gunners have been well represented at several tournaments on the South team. When was the last time the south played without Gunners?
Looked up some u-14 ecnl scores 7-1 , 8-2 , 6-1 . This is great competition?
Ecnl will be fine , these are the early games . WC Stars of Mass, abgc, and pda havent ;ayed each other . the scores will be much closer then . The ecnl is necessary for a new jersey club becaue their is no one else to challenge these the new jersey teams in NJ . Who else would these clubs play outside of ecnl that they havent played and lost to .
There are teams outside of ECNL that have played PDA Gunners and the scores have been the minimal difference.
yes . but no wins and the differences are growing .
FYIABGC not ECNL and also a shadow of former self. Half dozen girls moved to McLean ECNL. Not enough to really be considered "formerly known as ABGC" but enough so that ABGC will plummet in the GS rankings. PDA soap opera always makes for entertaining reading.
PDA routinely trounces ECNL teams too so what's your point?
For PDA and complaints of north players...in the words of Yoda...Two players a team does not make....
For 7:38but as Yoda would also say with PDA Oreilly three make original gunners sit on the pine from a tree. heeeheeeIdiot
So I understand the O'Reilly girls will return to their team in the spring. Are there any Gunner girls who aren't playing this fall because they are in high school and will return for the spring season?
Idiot is right! If any other club pulled those stunts and reneged on promises, they would be slammed but the mighty PDA can do whatever they want, and parents will still write the checks for bench space.
Only 3 days for a comeback... good job ...
Strikers loose to YMS in Pags play, not hating, just saying. Excuses? Injured players? Did you not watch tape of YMS? Did you underestimate them? Were the girls tired and played the worst game of their careers? We have heard them all, there had to be something, because, of course you are the best team ever.So sorry for some of the nicest and most humble parents in PA.
It should come as no surprise to anyone to say that club teams are a business. They grow their business by growing their "brand" based on rankings, number of kids who get scholarships, etc. The better the brand becomes the more it is self-sustaining. It should come as no surprise either that clubs will do what is necessary to enhance their brand, e.g. bringing players from other teams to win tournaments, "recruiting" players at the expense of existing players who may have less potential, etc. Accordingly, it should be expected that the clubs will do what's in their best interests - not in the best interest of your child. That is the system - it is no different at any club team - so either you accept this reality or not. Complaining about one team or another is naive - everyone is playing by the same rules. !
I think this blog has lost any value it had by taking so much time to approve posts. There can't be any ongoing conversation anymore. It's a shame because even though many posts are mean spirited, some good stuff occassionally comes through. Clearly, the volume of posts have declined dramatically.
Any state cup scores from today?
Here is the linkhttp://events.gotsport.com/events/schedule.aspx?EventID=34319&Gender=Girls&Age=14Looks like FC Copa will be the likely champion.
My guess it will be a Copa/PDA matchup with Copa advancing and a Toms River/Stallions battle with TR coming out on top. A Copa/Toms River final will be great game.
Stampede is highly overrated play kickball and the coach has no soccer knowledge yet always has something negative to say to his players
The comment above is wrong, the stampede are very good as a team but it is true that their coach is terrible, he is always yelling at the referee. CALM DOWN!!!!!!
Agreed though you could probably say the same for most of those coaches or at least 3 out of those 4.
PDA will take state cup, the guest gunners will make it happen!
Predictions for tomorrow's state cup/ncs matches? Other than maybe one of the games, probably an easy week to pick.
I think there stallion stampede will lose, they will be upset and pda gunners easily win tourney
PDA Atletic out of state cup. Wall took the game to pks and wins
Stampede lose to NJReal-Delran Force? What are you smoking? What soccer world are you living in? Force/Delran, whatever you may want to call them is not close to the team they have been in the past years. They have lost good players, goalie, but retained plenty of problem parents on sideline. Stampede will easily win this game. Bet everything you have on it. Not even close.
so what happened in the stampede game? no score posted
maybe they play sunday. I agree with 9:31, stampede wins.
And atletica was a shoo in to win it all.
Know your teams people. The Gunners were never in this State Cup, it was Athletica and they lost to Wall. The Stampede are the Stallions and they crushed Real Force 6-0 yesterday. Wasn't even a game. And yes the real parents were a problem yesterday.
No one said gunners were in state cup, they were referring to the fact that pda gunners are filling in roster spots for the pda lesser teams, pride and atletica When those two teams have to play tough competition.
Pride was guesting athletica but were not there yesterday.
Let's get this straight, Pride players guesting for Athletica in NJYS Cup, but not there this w-end? How many players? It's NJYS and rosters are frozen with 18 maximum, so Athletica can't add/sub players, did they play short? Or did they put the best players from both teams on the roster and still got beat by Wall? PDA Pride playing at Fredrick, is it the Pride team or do the bottom players get knocked off and Athletica players come down to help win championship? Why can't they just leave the rosters as is like other teams?
There was a second coach hiding behind the grassy knoll sending in ringers when the ref wasn't looking.
So for all of you conspiracy theory PDA haters, just go in to every game prepared to play the Gunners whether you are playing the Pride or Atletica or the Gunners. So if you lose you can convince yourself that you lost to the Gunners and if you win you can convince yourself you beat the Gunners. The reality is that PDA is more focused on the ECNL and NPL and had quite a good weekend against World Class in both the ECNL and NPL while Atletica was at their State Cup game.
^^^^^haaaa^^^^^ Don't act like we are all morons, please. We get it O'Reilly players not in 9th grade, want to play, Who wouldn't.. I think come spring, we will see the real "Gunners" as O'Reilly" will move back up to their team. I don't care either way. It is about winning at all levels to attract better players to replace the ones that do not cut it. No biggee, but don't pretend otherwise, because you sound like you have your lips planted you know where. Good for those 99's that are good enough to have played up all of this time. Come spring 99's will have to win with rostered Gunners, no help. Good team but do not pretend players are not being moved around. All clubs would do it. PDA just happens to have a few more that played up until 9th grade.
I so, how many players were moved? And what happened to those in their roster?
Gunners sat the bench for the first half until O'Reilly girls beat up the WC players who play until they were weary. Then the bench came in and cleaned up.
Semi-Finals A WALL SC STINGRAYS (NJ) FC COPA ACADEMY MILAN (NJ Semi-Finals B TOMS RIVER FC EVERTON (NJ NJ STALLIONS STAMPEDE (NJThoughts? Predictions?
The comment above had nothing to do with the Gunners and O'Reilly, that is a different story and it's about the Gunners fielding the best team they possibly can. I'm not sure any club competing wouldn't do the same thing. That's a separate debate, but the comment that the PDA is stacking Atletica and Pride with Gunners players is ridiculous. So if others are worried about what age appropriate PDA team you are playing, like was said earlier go in to every game prepared to play the Gunners (with or without O'Reilly players) whether you are playing the Pride or Atletica or the Gunners. So if you lose you can convince yourself that you lost to the Gunners and if you win you can convince yourself you beat the Gunners.
So 8:36, what you are actually saying is that WC last weekend was not good enough to beat the best U-14 team that PDA can field. The fact that 3 U-14 girls are good enough to play up at U-15 does not does change the fact that it's a u-14 team.
Is all about winning at the end of the day 5 O'Reilly players were moved to the gunners for one game.
The O'Reilly girls were not added for 1 game and it's not 5 players, the O'Reilly girls are playing with the Gunners in the Fall. So if it is your club, you would just let the U-14 age appropriate O'Reilly girls stay at home and not get any competition during the Fall season? What would you say, sorry girls your good enough to play up on a U-15 team and we are going to ask you to play there, but by the way that means you won't play in the Fall? People want to come on here and act like there is a big conspiracy theory to stack teams. It's not the case.
Copa over wall 1-0toms river over stampede 2-1toms river/copa in the final. That will be a good game. But I will take Toms River.
Copa will win big over Wall, they are a much better team. TR might make it past Stallions, but I doubt it. I think Copa will take it all.
I think Copa Milan will easily beat Wall, and if Toms River gets past NJ Crush, Copa will outplay TR.
I don't think COPA has had a victory over Toms River..ever. If TR makes it past Stampede, which they didn't last state cup season..I think TR walks away with it. Haven't seen the new stampede. If they aren't as good as they once were, they won't make it to the final.
Wall did knock of PDA.....
The Gunners or Atletica? Atletica has never been a good team.
Right, so I wouldn't get too excited if I were Wall.
O'Reilly girls not rostered with Gunners on the ecnl website. But apparently they are playing with the gunners. So I guess the guy posting about the coach lurking behind the tree was right after all. Lol.
The NPL and ECNL does have a rostering requirement, they allow you to roster up to 18 for a match and as long as they are US Club Carded, any player within the club can play on whatever team.
OReilly girls are not rostered with the gunners, but if you go to the u15 OReilly ecnl site you can see which players have played on age.
I do not understand why people care if pda moves players around. Isn't that what should happen when you have good players on 3 different teams? Is it jealously that is fueling your uncomfortableness? Get over it. They are moving players in accordance to the rules or else it could not be done.
We don't care , just accept it that you move players one, two or five to be able to compete. That's all folks!
Yes it's very amusing that PDA so fearful that they will not be competitive without their top 5 superstars playing for as many teams as possible. Those kids should get purple stars.
PDA has been a terrific environment this year. Not only are players getting experiences with different teams, but they are getting numerous opportunities to train and scrimmage with other teams within PDA. They told us before the beginning of the year that they are striving for a view of one PDA club, and I think so far they have done. You can come on here and spew what ever controversy you want. I had my doubts as a parent that the cross fertilizing the club would work, but it's been good for all of the teams. When you get your head out of the sand and at least accept that there is value in a club having quality players across several teams is a very good thing and as these teams to get older and develop it will create more opportunities. Rather than being critical, isn't it a good thing that PDA has places for the O'Reilly girls who would otherwise have no where to play in the Fall get a chance to play and compete. PDA is not doing this to compete, and yes I guess we will find out in the Spring whether the O'Reilly girls made that much of a difference, but then again it really wouldn't matter, because people like you will find a reason to be critical. I still don't understand how playing U-14 and bringing other U-14 girls that have no where else to play is a bad thing, I thought teams wanted to compete against the best competition they can.
@5:53 Are you enjoying a nice glass of the PDA Kool aid? Is it spiked because you are delusional. This fall has been a let down for the south, beating crappy B teams and driving all over the East coast to do it.
8:11 I can't speak for your experiences in the South, but this is still a free country, you can leave.
Yes this is a terrific environment if you are a U14 oreilly player, not so much if you are a U14 Pride player.
No need to bash a whole club because you are having a bad experience. Maybe you should talk to your daughter and coach and figure out if you are in the right place. So if you are happy with PDA you had to have had the kool-aid? It sounds like you have sour grapes From my perspective, if you are unhappy with something, rather coming on a blog and whining, take a stand and do something about it. You must be a real drag for your team.
I can tell you 8:59 isn't the only upset pride parent. I never wrote on a blog before but I had to join in this conversation. Pda south does not have many happy parents right now.
Sorry meant to say 811 is not the only annoyed pride parent!
Does anyone know if the EDP is part of the NPL. They list it on there website but there is no link. Who will represent the NPL in tournaments/championship since there are multiple Regional NPL leagues?
I really wonder why when people have nothing to do, they start bashing on PDA...It has nothing to do with you. You beat them, great. They beat you, ok. Whatever. Can we focus more on the state cup, and predictions?
Only some of the EDP teams are part of the NPL. I'm not sure how they are chosen. In terms of U14 girls, the only EPD teams that are considered NPL are:Delaware RushU 14 GirlsFSA FCU 14 GirlsJersey UnitedU 14 GirlsManhattan SCU 14 GirlsSmithtown Kickers SCU 14 GirlsSouth Jersey Elite BaronsU 14 GirlsTSF AcademyU 14 GirlsHere's the linkhttp://edpsoccer.org/tier2/tier2.php?page=75
I love the comments about guest players playing in state cup. You obviously know nothing about rostering rules. The only way a player can play for a team in state cup is if they are on the initial roster, which is frozen in early September. You can't be rostered on more than one team. Tell us all how teams have "guest" players for state cup.
Let me just say ,I am not a PDA parent........;) (cmon ,its funny!)
I don't think any rationale parents have an issue with OReilly girls moving to a Gunners for fall, except to state the obvious that they are having an impact - take this weekend for example Gunners have never beaten WC previously. What is unfortunate and what gives ODA a bad rap is that they constantly move girls around within this age group, between their 3 teams (previously 4). The best kids get to play in multiple rosters and bolster pda's win record, while other kids who are on the lower teams sit. That is crap, no matter which way you look at it. No one else does it. Once PDA takes a kids money and rosters them, they should play them. End of story.
Aren't the O'Reilly girls playing high school? It would make sense to move some Gunners up to fill the holes and give them extra playing time as well as experience. Sounds like PDA North is doing what their name says: "development."
I agree with 9:55. It's a great deal and "development" opportunity for those players that get to play on multiple teams but not fair for the girls promised a spot on any of the 3 teams (Gunners, Pride, or Atletica) whose playing time is taken away by these players. It's fine if you're playing time is limited because of stronger girls on your own roster, but to move girls from another team to take your roster spots is not fair.
You are in-correct with the NPL clubs within EDP. THere was a meeting held with the US Club representatives and the clubs being invited in to the NPL from the EDP League. It will all be up and running from the middle of Novemeber onwards and the number of clubs representing from EDP bigger. The League will be run more like the NYCSL NPL conference under the guise of the EDP League representatives. More on this to follow in the coming weeks.
Why the need for a Northeast NPL and an EDP, did they address this. It seems to be a bit dilutive of good teams.
PDA is not fair and it never will be fair. So what. PDA not being fair is not a new thing and people complaining about PDA is not a new thing. Yet you still write your check annually and come back. You can find clubs of all types in NJ, those that play everybody equally, those that play starters more than subs but play everybody, and then PDA who plays by their own set of rules that seems to tick-off people within the club and outside of it. There is a very easy way for to make your life better. Stop your whining, stop writing the checks, and go play somewhere else. Should we go back to U-6 rules too and stop keeping score.
1:39 it looks like top kids are going elsewhere - at least two other clubs in NJ are competitive currently with Gunners (Matchfit & Copa). Could be more, sorry I am not up on who else have played Gunners recently in a close game. But there seems never to be a shortage of kids who want to wear the blue uniform and fill the lower teams.
2:34 do you blame parents for trying different options? PDA is only concerned with the top six girls on Gunners, the rest of the Gunners, pride, and atletica are just funding the club. You really gotta feel bad for Pride, all the promises of tryouts were just lip service. Why do you think all the Pride girls went out for ODP? Just cant trust shady John anymore!
10:24 AM The worst kept secret at PDA is the guy who is writing these posts. It's the guy who when it is 75 and sunny outside will complain about the 5 mph wind.
Spoken like a CFO who wants the customers to keep writing the checks and shut their mouth, in this particular case so the girls side can fund the PDA boys academy.
PDA slumming at Kirkwoord? How is beating a team 5 to 0 called development?
They were slumming at Parsippany also, vs town teams, and gloating about an "all PDA final". Come out and play with the Club teams instead and face some similar competition.
Enough about PDA. How about PA Strikers 1-1 draw vs NJ Rush Grey( NJSA Highland Surge)?
Njsa dominated another nothing tournament now that there using the pda method of sharing girls from 2 teams you would think they would look for some worthy opponents
There is a lot of jealousy on this forum. Like a bunch of women gossiping. So what if NJSA, Match Fit or pda shuffles girls around. No one knows the real reason except those teams. Maybe there are injuries. The fact is YOU DO NOT KNOW. A majority of you are clueless as to what goes on beyond the streets you use to bring your daughters to practice. I very much doubt there is contention with any of the parents you are all talking about or they would not have paid for their kids to be playing soccer where they want to play. Get a life people, get a life and worry about your own team and what your coach is or is not doing.
10:36 I wonder how many authors on the blog would show their daughters what they write on this blog? You're making your daughters real proud.
10:45, totally agree. These idiots are embarrassing their daughters and families. They'd probably smack you in the back of the head and tell you to grow up. But you are all anonymous and feeling good about yourselves. Maybe it is personal with teams or clubs because they are just miserable with life.
Or maybe they are parents of kids playing town travel and wishing the big clubs would go play their own tournament and leave everyone else alone. The last 3 posters were either bullies in school, or failed athletes themselves trying to live off their kids successes, even at the cost of town teams? How does that feel? Grow up yourselves.
10:07I had heard how good the Strikers were and went and watched that game of PA Strikers and Nj Rush.Good game Nj Rush should have won. But sometimes the bounces don't go your way.Looked to me that the teams were pretty well matched. Both should hold heads high for playing good soccer.
The Strikers had many 10+ pass sequences and held 90% of the possession. Their mids won nearly every ball in the midfield. The Rush goal was well taken and they had what the Strikers were missing. The Striker fast forwards were not enough. The Striker goal was on a GK error and indeed based on that fact, maybe the Rush "should have won" the game.
9:49..Why are you bashing teams for not paying the cost to travel hours away, NJSA plays in the New York NPL league and has to travel to Long Island, Connecticut and Mass for league games. I commend their coach for scheduling a local tournament, I wonder how many college coaches attended the Wags tournament to watch the U14 age group. It doesn't matter until next year (U15) when Showcase Tournaments really matter. Get a life! I haven't seen NJSA come on here an boost about anything..
The new york npl isnt that good anyway only quality team is north rockland
What could they boast about?
Hey 9:49. NJ Rush did not dominate a nothing tournamnet. They lost a game and tied PA Srikers at Discovery cup. No one said they dominated, someone posted that they tied strikersBased on thier EDP Record and schedule, they were at an approriate Columbus tournament for their level and within a reasoanble driving area. Get your facts straight. The posts are about NJ Rush grey, the former NJSA/Highland Surge. When you post something obnoxious and ignorant, you look even worse when you do not know what you are talking about Congrats to Rush, I am sure your coach has the girls working hard and moving in the righe direction.
Who are we talking about njsa bulldogs or old njsa surge
Hey 1:11 I was just there to watch a game. As a former player I didn't see that game you speak of. I did see a 65/35 possession and both teams put together some good sequences. Yes more of them were by the PA Strikers. I know you are looking at it through parental eyes but if it were really that one sided then you would have had to win. You really didn't need to call out the goalie error.
Ok something smells. Even game, nj rush should have tied. Then response after called out was then ok, 65/35 with most plays by strikers and admitted gk error. Hilarious, who's the parent?I heard rush got one shot one net to about 30 by strikers. Unfortunately that's how 13 year old soccer goes and it means nothing if you don't score. I must say how awesome it is when someone goes out to Maryland to watch the game (I mean what else is there to do on a dismal weekend?). Uh maybe not, can't be sure but I'm guessing besides refs, players and parents, it was void of spectators.
coaches were there also...
The volunteer tournament field marshal too....
let's go back to PDA. At least that talk seemed to be more truthful.
Cant talk about PDA or you will be called out as a bitter town team parent. 12:06 made a very valid point, stop slumming and stay with your own competition!
It's the old NJSA Surge. Did not see the game, have no comments on it. Just hate someone posting they were at a nothing tournament, uh then why were the Strikers there?? . Discovery cup was where they belonged and tied PA Srikers. Who gives a hoot about posssesion? We have all seen the best teams in the world possess the crapl out of a ball. It's about what you do with yor chances. They either have an awesome goalie or a good defense. Strikers maybe finding many teams are playing a controlled possesion style game, with few chances? It's all about finishing. As you move on, you will get few chances with like teams. Have to be able to capitalize.
There was an all PDA final at U14? What two teams??
The post about NJSA dominating a nothing tournament I believe referred to the Bulldogs playing at EDP Cup this weekend. Not NJSA Surge at playin at Discovery Cup. At least that's how I read it.
That makes more sense.
Where was this "all pda final" at u14? I can't find where two pda teams played each other? I only see one pda team playing this weekend and that's at kirkwood, played an egsa in final. But don't see any other pda teams. Earlier post from other day must be in wrong forum age group?
What teams from PAE, NJ and NYE are applying to the USYS Premier League for this Spring? The deadline is coming up and they don't post applied teams. I know Century Extreme and YMS Pride have moved up to the National League so they won't be doing Premier League, so curious to which teams are.
Not sure how many teams usually bother with the regional leagues at this age given the added travel and cost and most just wait until the HS years. With the whole ECNL/NPL thing maybe it will be different this year since some of the local leagues have been diluted a bit? If they do it the likely ones are probably FC Pennsylvania FC Europa FC Copa South Jersey NJSA Toms River Manhattan North Rockland Quickstrike. The next level down teams maybe do the lower level colonial league? Maybe some of the teams do the ASL? Anyone from these teams know if they applied?
you can't just apply to play in USYS Premier League. you must qualify. here are the requirements from their website:An automatic bids for the Premier League will be given to:•The semi-finalists of the previous year's Regional Championship (four teams) •The top four teams in each of the North and South divisions from the previous year's Premier League play (eight teams). •Each of the two Sub-Regional leagues champions (two teams). Therefore 14 of the 16 bids may be earned by teams playing regional competition
What happens when some of those teams from last year move on and there are open spots? Of the top eight teams from last year (the top 4 from each of the North and South Divisions) at least 5 are moving on (Empire Revolution Buffalo, Syracuse, Century Xtreme and YMS Pride applied to and were accepted to the National League and World Class is now ECNL). Of the four semi-finalists from last year’s Regional Championship, 2 are now ECNL teams (FC Stars and World Class) and aren’t playing in the USYS NCS and 1 (Century Xtreme) is now in the National League. Also, there was no Northeast league champ last year (wasn’t enough teams to field a league at U13). The teams that 1:19 referenced above can’t apply and wouldn’t “qualify” to get into the Premier League and USYS wouldn’t want to have one of these top regional teams in their Premier League to fill one of the at least 9 open spots? How do they then fill these 9 open spots???
Hbc buzz 2-2 against njsa bulldogs , njsa got lucky at the end
What do you consider lucky? NJSA scored 2 goals early in the second half and had multiple chances after that. HBC didn't have a shot on goal in the second half.. NJSA also controlled the first half and HBC goalie made 2 very good saves.. What game were you watching?
All qualifying will have to change. With all these new leagues and clubs now, the qualications will have to change for Premier League as well a re-evalution of ecnl clubs and/or teams that just are not very good.Drop them! Most of these Leagues are top heavy now with excellent teams at the top in Premier/ecnl and some not so good teams/clubs at bottom. Most fall in the middle or average in both Premier/NE/Colonial/ecnl.Only National League has kept up with being consistant with outstanding teams across all ages brackets and still is considered the country's best league by colleges from top to bottom. ie. Just saying you are playing National League says it all, but saying you are playing ecnl does not carry the same weight unless one of ecnl's top teams. Great teams are just that, Great teams, weather in National League or Premier or even ecnl. Going through this again with my youngest after having two play in college, I realized that I spent a lot of money for not, and kind of sour on the once great idea of ecnl. Just being a top three/four player on a Region 1 team weather NE/Colonial/Premier/ or an average or better ecnl will get lots of offers and choices. Now, if a starter on a National League team or top 3 ecnl team, that's something and the emails/phone calls will keep coming. By no means, do not sit the bench on a top team. Roster fillers/practice dummys/money for the coach/club. A bench player should just put dollar signs($$) on the back of her jersey instead of a real number.Just saying
Does anyone have insult free info on Penn Fusion? Wondering if their defeat of Stars over the weekend had anything to do with injuries, ringers, etc? They play WC and PDA this weekend so two more tests but win over Stars is no small accomplishment. Jut curious if they are the real deal.
The real deal. For sure PDA and WC will be a challenge. Time will tell if the momentum holds. They do have a ringer kid who has played a few games in the past, but she didn't play in Mass.
What is the definition of a ringer?Kid age appropriate for u14. New to club this year and decided to try out for the U15's. made that team but is an 8th grader. She was pulled up because of injuries, but she was not in MA Girls seem to have found a good chemistry. They are woking hard to execute good soccer. Some very tough girls mentally and physically. Win or lose, hopefully they come out of this weekend having learned something, either way playing at this level is be a benefit to their development. Stars was very good. Played very well. They have some very talented girls. It was a very close hard fought game and could have gone either way. Parents were very gracious and complimented PF girls, which was refreshing to see. Class club.
Definition of a ringer:A player on the primary roster of team " A" who is temporarily pulled to fill an open roster spot on team "B" and impacts the result of those game(s) for which he/she participated for team "B".Notice this is entirely legal within the ECNL and specifically in tis case diffiuclt to argue as the player would not have had any games this fall has she not played for team"B" because in her area middle school soccer is played in the spring.Only real arguement against is the taking away play time from primary rostered players. 2 points on this specifically for the PF situation:It is an ECNL team and therefore like most other high level ECNL, NPL, or USYSA teams there is no guaranteed play time. You know this when you sign up your kid or else you could have chosen a lower level program where your kid was in the top 3. Further beyond that arguement, the game day roster was not full due to injuries and therefore there was no primary rostered player sitting at home so the the "ringer" could play.
Not sure I follow:"ie. Just saying you are playing National League says it all, but saying you are playing ecnl does not carry the same weight unless one of ecnl's top teams."Apples to OrangesFor you to compare the National league to the ECNL "league" doesn't make sense - one has 16 teams and the other has 70.Compare National League to the ECNL National Championships and NOW you have 16 v 16 and I don't think national league would stack Up - Sorry.Pick any league and you will have strong teams and weak teams - that's just how it works or every team would be .500% not going to happen. Also - I agree any high level team will be looking for success of the team and that is a given - they will look to put the best players on the field for every game the club plays. If your child is 14 and can play for the 15 team great for her she should get a ton of playing time since she is a premier player that will only get better with more minutes - if you don't agree with this philosophy - then high level Premier Clubs/Teams are not for you, it's that simple.
State Cup Fc Copa and NJ Stallions other thoughts.
Not a chance for the Stallions. How does ECNL stack up versus other leagues?
Saw the PF "ringer" play in a game this year. Very talented player who made an impact in the game I saw, but this team is sound in my opinion. Time will tell if they can be considered an elite team or not.
Down goes the mighty "PDA"1-0 FC BUCKS FUSIONNice job bucks.
What happened? PDA had injuries, no ringers, etc?
Any state cup results?
PDA will have all sorts of excuses, let's here them!
At least the PDA b team crushed the Bucks Fusion B team, PDA needs to save face somehow.
Of course the PRide won, benched Gunners guesting again. It gets old people...
Pride won, ZERO Gunners played. Know your facts b4 talking crap....
Who won TR v Stallions game?
Guess 3:03 is eat'n some crow, huh. But I'm sure theyre not a toms river parent. Maybe the parent of that nasty player, nah.
How cares about the B team battles, how was the Stallions game?
No I am not eating crow and I am not a TR parent. Copa wins!!!
Because there isn't much competition in New Jersey at this age group.....Copa's decent, good for them.
Toms river beats Copa. Stampede beats Toms River. Copa beats Stampede. Crazy. Congrats to Copa. A class act.
Do all the PDA players pay the same yearly tuition? Do Gunners pay the same as Pride and Athletica? I am just curious given the lower level of competition that the B and C teams seem to play.
Tuition is the same, it's probably time for the PDA coach to have a discussion with the team, as I do not think the situation will change very much for the Spring except it will require a lot more travel. The coach should explain the what benefit the team is getting by playing NPL and why the NPL is a good thing. The Northeast NPL is pretty much a joke in terms of competition and the development of the PDA South team is suffering. There is a severe drop off going from the ECNL teams to the NPL teams. Somebody said before that that all the effort goes towards building the Gunners, this is probably true, as they will need to show support for the ECNL/NPL . structure even if it limits the development of other PDA teams. The South is at the point where several girls who play on the team practice with the Gunners. That is sending a clear message to the team and it isn't great for building a team spirit.
Look, if someone is unhappy with their situation it is up to them to change it. PDA is a club and they are there to make money and put the best teams possible on the field. The NE NPL was a good idea, in theory. Some clubs, however, did not get enough quality players. New teams and ideas always make for growing pains. Pride is an established, good team, hence, why they are doing so well in this league. Maybe NE NPL will take off, maybe not, EDP is always an option. Why should all of the Pride practice with the Gunners? Builds Resentment? Only if you keep telling your child that she should be the one called up, and how great she is. LIFE IS NOT FAIR. Good lesson to learn now. Your child is not entitled to anything. The best players will be called up or invited. That's the way it is everywhere. Some teams will invite younger players and players from other clubs over their NPL players. If your kid is not invited, have them work harder, face the facts, or change their situation. Probably not even Pride parents on this blog moaning, so this is meant for the people that keep harping on this situation. It's monotonous. If YOU are unhappy, it's up to YOU to change. INSANITY: doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results. If you were lied to, misled, or told half truths, and think it will change, grow up, and move along bloggiing does not solve YOUR problem.
You are right, if you are unhappy with your situation change it. It sounds great in theory. When you've paid $2,000+ per year and your stuck playing low competitive games and then your team signs up for a local town tournament, it doesn't create a great environment. Your are right, kids are not entitled to play anywhere or guaranteed playing time, but for $2,000+/year you should be entitled to equal development time and a competitive schedule for the team. What good is it for the remaining team, if you are pulling a portion of your team out to train elsewhere. So if your "best" kids are constantly training elsewhere it has to diminish the training quality for the kids that show up to training. No maybe blogging doesn't accomplish anything, but it is an opportunity to vent when you see kids used as tools for someone else's objectives. I'm not sure how you call the Pride a good quality team. You really don't know how good they are until they start playing real competition. It almost seems as though you are cherry picking opponents to feel good and avoiding things like the NJ State Cup stacked with teams that you have been unable to beat in the past.
And PDA ECNL ties Penn Fusion?? Guess the O'Reilly ringers weren't in the mood for a road trip to PA? Maybe they had high school games to play that day? Or did the mighty PDA underestimate the Bucks and Penn Fusion teams? Probably all three. Better get your O'Reilly girls back on the roster for FC Stars or you don't stand a chance....
I get it. If you were new to the situation this year then I see your point. However, the team has been established, there have been grumblings on here for quite some time, if you are one of the originals and just did not get out, and are unhappy that is not the clubs fault. I do not think any club expected the lack of quality in the just established NE NPL. I do believe that PDA was doing what they thought best at the time. Stars has a good NPL team so they should give the girls some competition. Yes for 2000. You have to stick it out, but if you are that unhappy, sometimes, you have to do what is right for you and your kid, regardless of being out $$. It is unhealty to be aggravated or frustrated week after week. There are some quality teams in NJ that do not sart with the letter P. Maybe some of the frustrated parents with strong players could look into Matchfit. As more girls move to the ECNL they will get quality players that may also be disenfranchised. They are not a bad team now, i would expect them to get stronger. Before anyone yells at me, I have no knowledge of the coach or that situation either, just suggestion. There are also many good coaches that are fantastic trainers and are still concerned with development, and seem to care about the girls as more than soccer players, and that have integrity. If you have been around youth soccer in NJ you will know who they are. I know it is scary to change, but in the end you want to see your daughter happy at what she loves doing most. You want to enjoy watching her and her teammates play, and enjoy the company you are with. The latter is sometimes tricky, but seeing your kid happy and playing is just a matter of finding the right fit...
Ho hum, just another day of ripping on another pda team. Getting old. If you are that unhappy 11:27a poster/blogger/gossip artist then just get out of your situation. I am sure that will go over well with your kid. She will probably call you an idiot and tell you that is not what she wants to do. But then again, you keep living her life for her. Sounds like you have have the world of soccer figured out. And maybe the kids that do go and practice with the gunners are deserving of it, just sayin'.
Yes, thank you 4:06 for the first sane post. Forget about striving to build a Gunners like team in the South, make the Gunners the team that every U-14 girls team in PDA strives to practice with. Now that's ambition and development.
4:06 - What in my post was inaccurate or ripping PDA. I suggested the PDA coach have a conversation with the team because the NPL was supposed to be better than in previous years, it is far worse and you have a full Spring season left to play against very weak competition. Several of your players are constantly practicing with the North, I think it is debatable whether that is good for team dynamics or bad. My opinion is that it is bad. What did you take as ripping or gossip in that post? or perhaps you are overly sensitive to writing those big checks.
Agree with previous posters. Get out as soon as you can. Why people flock to PDA is beyond me. They are constantly bringing kids onto teams from older ages, younger ages, or same age teams, while kids on that team sit. Who wants to subject their kids to that type of pressure and humiliation, while PDA charges top dollar and treats the bottom half of each team like revenue players?
I removed my child from a team because one of the guys in charged of team was making comments about her physique and being too develop for her age!!What do you guys think about this one!!
There are a few good town teams who might be able to use a few girls who arent happy at the academies. N.Rock. Wall,Freehold, Toms River. Dont be afraid to come home. Good soccer happening.
Obviously 4:06 is the parent of one the Pride girsl who was invited to practice with Gunners.
The same three Pride players practicing with the North is detrimental to our team, moral is at an all time low. I defy anyone to disagree with me! More derserving girls on our team then those three but we all cant be the coaches " special ones".
