Congratulations to NEFC. Quite a run. Bethesda on Sunday, World Class on Monday, Stars on Tuesday. Have to say right now NEFC is Top 3 in country and certainly top in Region 1 no matter what GS says. Well done girls. Be proud of yourselves. Good luck in Kansas. Parents, don't get to far out in front on this. Stars Tournament is Labor Day. 8 weeks for all the others to game plan and prepare to knock NEFC off their throne. Can't wait for the fireworks.
Yes. Congrats to NEFC! So forget gotsoccer and top drawer, here's my current Region 1 rankings. 1. NEFC Elite 2. FC Stars of Mass 3. Pennsylvania Strikers 4. World Class 5. Bethesda 6. PDA Gunners 7. Century United 8. Annandale BGC 9. Quickstrike FC10. Empire Revolution Buffalo11. Manhattan Santos12. Empire Revolution Syracuse13. North Rockland Rowdies14. FC Bucks15. Chantilly16. YMS17. PDA Pride18. FSA19. FC Copa Milan20. Toms RiverFeel free to debate!
I just got one startment.......well two. First I am not a TR parent lol lol second....Instead of feel free to debate it should read feel free to FIGHT..........
I agree with your top 5 or 6 and then most would probably agree that it gets tough to rank after that. Would probably move Quickstrike and both of the Empire Revolution teams down a bit on the list and drop Chantilly a little below them. Toms River should be a few spots higher and ranked around YMS, FC Bucks area of the list. FC Copa should be at the bottom or maybe not on the list just yet, but they are an up and coming team and will be interesting to see how they do in the fall.
I would move FSA and YMS higher up the list. FC Copa has already beaten FC Bucks and PDA Pride (twice) this spring. I would drop PDA Pride off the list and consider instead the #1 ranked team from VA.Today's Mid Atlantic Regional final ended Gunners 2, FC Copa 1. STA, SJEB and PDA Pride all crumbled badly in that tournament.
PDA Pride not that good when they don't have guest players. Take them off the list. Rockland Rowdies although not as good still should be a little higher. Question is what will the rankings look like in 2-3 years when it matters? How many of these teams will still be around and/or playing at a high level? My guess is only 8 or 9 of them.
The ECNL teams will stay strong. FC Stars, World Class, PDA, Bethesda, and FC Bucks. PA Strikers are not going anywhere. Can NEFC keep it together with Stars and Scorpions holding ECNL slots? This is all hypothetical and I am not at all close to the situation, but the Scorpions could use a team like NEFC to help solidify this age group. Same goes for Annandale & Chantilly. Could they get swallowed up by the ECNL also (i.e. FC Virginia)? Empire will have a strong team. YMS has shown to stay strong even though they are in FC Bucks back yard. PDA South will continue to be a good non ECNL option. Beyond that, good luck to the rest.
Manhatten and FC Bucks and Toms River should be moved up.Gunners down can't beat anyone outside state. Quickstrike and ABGC down but not by much.Pride shouldn't even be on there.SJEB or Stampede should be on in place of them. But that is a good list and great topic.
SJEB schedule looked pretty weak, and even Toms River schedule was a little tougher than theres but probably not by too much and PDA Pride beat SJEB a couple of times this past season, so I diasagree with that point. But you are probably right about Pride moving to closer to the bottom of the list and Manhattan and FC Bucks moving up a spot or two but maybe Bucks should be above Manhattan. Maybe Bucks will join Manhattan and the other top teams at FC Stars this year and have some good matches.
The Gunners and PA Strikers will be there in the end with FC Stars and NEFC. I think they will be the class of the Region, the Gunners will have improved talent wise by combining the Gunners teams and coming into the ECNL and the PA Strikers are constantly improving with what is essentially an open tryout and recruiting process as well as the free ride. The Pride some good days and some really bad days. They beat some good teams and lost to some bad ones. Likely they won't improve as recruiting was very poor for them. SJEB have seen there best days they lost some games they would have one in previous seasons. I don't think they had a good EPL or State Cup as well as bad bad weekend this last one. North Rockland Is also on its way day, I think Delco showed this and their style of physical play won't hold up at the older ages. Beyond that, 10-20 is likely a toss-up on any given day. It is striking how NJ has been a real good state for soccer, but after the Gunners, things drop off quickly, If SJEB, Pride, and Toms RIver are the next best 3, then there really is only one high level team in NJ.This will get harder to judge going forward as NPL teams are mandated to play 2 NPL sponsored tourneys and the same is true for ECNL I think. I'm not sure that we will be seeing all of these teams playing as much. Especially the PA Strikers who probably should be ECNL but doesn't have the full club to support it. We have the NPL championships and the US Club cup championships coming up, let's see how Region 1 represents there.
Gunners have been "swapping" players all year amongst their teams. Unless they recruited new blood, don't expect huge improvements there. Matchfit will eat into their talent pool also going forward.I think NJ has a ton of talent, and there should be 4 very strong teams emerging. Who those 4 are exactly, the next year will tell.
Just some input from the southern edge of region 1. On target with Bethesda. Off season pickups will strengthen them for fall. ABGC is toast. Lost several to McLean plus coaching changes will not help. Poor showing in RI against local rival Bethesda will encourage other defections. Chantilly not really on radar down here so you all mo know something we don't.
Seems to me teams like TR, Stampede, and SJEB are working hard as individual teams. Pride will just ride the Gunners coat tails, hoping for some of their castoff's.
Wow. It's nice to see that there is actually some talk outside of NJ. I agree that the ECNL clubs will only get stronger. This seems to be the trend. That means McLean and FC Virginia down south. Bethesda in Maryland. PDA in NJ. We shall see if Matchfit can field a competitive team at this age group. FC Bucks as far as ECNL goes will rule EPA. Penn Fusion is strong in the 3 older age groups so I assume they will improve greatly over the next couple years. Continental FC/ FC Delco needs to recruit a whole new team. Could PA Strikers have any interest? World Class will rule ENY. Albertson will be better. FC Stars will be a national power for years to come.
We will all be playing for 2nd place in years to come. Pa strikers will continue to add better players. There will be no interest in joining Continental as Pa Strikers are a dictatorship and DS will not be giving up power. They are a much better team then even 2 months ago.
Agree about the Strikers, but I think they will struggle with always playing the highest competition because they are not in ECNL and probably can't get in because they only have 1 team. The ECNL clubs will not play as many of the usual tourneys. The Gunners beat the Strikers pretty easily a few weeks back in a scrimmage and the PDA Pride held their own for a half against the Strikers.
8:19 Could they join EDP NPL since EDP is not club based and who knows in a year or two there might be promotion/relegation between NPL and ECNL?Just a crazy thought.
Yes I think they can, but I personally think that NPL/EPL will be mixed in terms of team quality. For PDA and World Class, I think you'll find that NPL will be their "B" teams.
I don't think that there will be promotion or relegation as the clubs who are in ECNL put a team in any age bracket. I think the PA Strikers will be excluded from ECNL because they only field one Age group and the ECNL is for clubs. It wouldn't be good for the other age groups if you start making it team based rather than club based.
Currently First Div North of EDP was strong with Manhattan, FSA, Copa and NJ Stampede coming in top 4. Manhattan leaving for NY NPL. But if PA Strikers and YMS were to join EDP, it would remain very strong.
Are there rumors of either joining the EDP? The EDP North competition drops off dramatically for 5-9. The EDP South was all second and third tier teams. The New Northeast NPL South Division has good clubs, but I think they are all ECNL "B" teams: Bucks, MF, PDA, Penn Fusion, and WC. I think the same is true with the NPL North Division.
Where else would a strong non-ECNL team go to play? It has to be EDP. Certainly won't be JAGS.
I don't think that there will be promotion or relegation as the clubs who are in ECNL put a team in any age bracket. I think the PA Strikers will be excluded from ECNL because they only field one Age group and the ECNL is for clubs. It wouldn't be good for the other age groups if you start making it team based rather than club based."a relegation system between the ECNL and some of the individual strong teams of the NPL is a brilliant way of strengthing the ecnl by making sure the top teams in each age group are as strong as the should be. It solidifies ecnl place as the top league in the country , it also puts those ecnl clubs that happen to have a weak age group on notice that for that age group, they may be dropped to the NPL. NPL becomes an ECNL partner rather than a competing US Club league. It also gives those building NPL clubs a platform to enter the ECNL. first on a team basis then on a club basis once the club has enough teams to compete in the different age groups.. a win-win for everyone.
PA Strikers are tournament team much like Orlando MagicJack. In league play they are unable to fly in their guests so they don't show as well. Bucks beat them in State Cup because the roster did not include their tournament players. They will continue to dominate tournaments and may even qualify for US Club champs but USYSA National Series will probably not be seeing them. ECNL will never see them.
MFC Revolution and Holmdel players were offered spots in the new teams but decided to turn it down. 15 MFC REvolutions left to FC Copa and NJSA
You seem to know a lot about the Strikers. To my knowledge, the only guest players they have used were ones that had committed to playing for the team, but just had not been added to the roster yet. All of the girls that played for them at the FC Delco Players Cup are on their active roster. They added a player since then that will make them better. The Strikers team will only get stronger and with the State Cup and Regional pool getting weaker, who is going to stop them? Hate all you want. The Strikers will dominate USYS for years to come.
The Strikers are a very good team, and are probably top 5 in the region. I do think the Striekrs will have an issue with competition though because of the NPL and ECNL divide. On the relegation question, I don't think this is possible because the NPL is team based where the ECNL is club based. With out teams at every age bracket, the Strikers will miss the constant ECNL competition and tournaments.
This just proves that not all the best competition is in ECNL.
Yes. There are still a ton of non-ECNL clubs that put great products on the field. USYS Regional Premier Leagues and National Leagues will still showcase a lot of talent and get their exposure. ECNL is now the dominant entity, but you can't tell me the league does not have clubs with still very weak teams. In fact the league in its effort to take over the club soccer world has allowed admission to some very questionable clubs. ECNL really should look into cutting back on its club memberships instead of constantly expanding and watering down the talent pool.
2:20 you forget one thing when you say watering down the talent pool? ECNL is a National League that plays Fall/Spring soccer and it's at only approx 60 teams in a 50 state country- it has plenty of room to expand.Look at NY, NJ, PA, MA, CT - only 12 teams from 5 states - plenty of room to expand. There are many clubs that would love to be accepted, but I think ECNL is taking the right approach baby steps - stay small and fix the issues that pop up before they have a crazy expansion. And I still believe the NPLs will play a roll in that expansion via sometype of pro/rel system. I'll stick to the 5 states mentioned above:ECNL - 12 clubsMA = 2CT = 2NY = 3PA = 3NJ = 2NPL (NYCSL & NE Girls NPL) - 26 clubsMA = 5CT = 4NY = 9PA = 2NJ = 6That's 26 clubs from 5 states not including any of the EDP clubs because as we said they are team based. Now if EDP went club based as well you can add another 12 clubs to that list from NJ, PA, MD & DE.You would be able to build a strong pyramid for the ECNL NE and Mid-Atlantic DivisionsIt's possible if they wanted to go down that road.
Not sold on the EDP or NPL just yet. I think this is for teams that want to ride the coattails of the ECNL. It's all US Club driven in an attempt to monopolize the club soccer world. Am I crazy to still think sticking it out with USYS and playing your State Cup NCS series as well as Region 1 Premier League and possibly if good enough USYS National League is the way to go. I don't see why I have to take my non-ECNL team to the EDP/NPL.
Case in point. Take the current U14 YMS Xplosion. They are State Champs, Region 1 Champs, Premier League participant and a USYS National League participant next season. Do you think the YMS Xplosion will suffer for not participating in any of the US Club driven leagues? Do you think they will struggle to place their players in quality college programs? What is wrong with that path?
Wow, much better discussion than the Toms River crap over the past few days. With respect to your point on the YMS example, year 1 you may not see a change but if the ECNL does grab hold well, than the best talent will likely move too. US Club Soccer has a vested interest in seeing the NPL and ECNL succeed, but their intent is to have the ECNL be an Elite with the NPL to be a high quality competitive league. If the NPL and ECNL provide equal competition, then then won't have succeeded. My view is that most top level clubs want to be in ECNL but in the absence of being accepted into ECNL, they will play in the next best thing which seems to be the NPL.
Agreed. They will play in NPl and a team may get invited to play in the ecnl if they are a dominant team for that age group only. they would take the place of the ecnl team that finishes at the bottom. That particular ecnl team would be relegated to the NPL division until they can work their way back. Mean while this would have the affect of keeping the ECNL age group strong. If an ecnl club gets enough teams relegated to NPL than they should be replaced by an NPL club on the rise.
6:37 It would be a great system if they can implement it. I suspect that relegation will be very difficult because of soccer politics. I'd love to see them do it with an black and white objective approach.
Hi guys, I think it would very easily for them to put in place if they wanted to go down this road. Both are under the US Club Soccer umbrella and are or should be club based leagues.Example 1: I'll use these two NPLs for my example Group the NPLs for the purpose of promotion to ECNL only - NYCSL and EDP champions play each other with the winner playing the ECNL team to be dropped.Example 2: Use the NPL champions cup as a springboard for promotion with no play in game vs ECNL team. This will make sure the ECNL divisions are stacked with NO weak teams.I don't think you need to relegate or promote a club - as I said both are under US Club soccer - maybe rebrand the two as one League with a true soccer pyramid.I'm sure they have people in place that come up with a much better system if they wanted to.Either way pro/rel or not - both the ECNL and NPL are great for the youth soccer landscape in my opinion. Both are young and growing strong.
wow! sounds a lot like Region Premier, and NE/Colonial. Maybe ecnl can have a top National Div. at u-15 and above, call it National League? Just a matter of time that money and parents and coaches/clubs egos destroy ecnl.Awesome idea when it started, but now..... not so.
11:48 just one question - why do people always throw money out?You said "Just a matter of time that money and parents and coaches/clubs egos destroy ecnl"How is Playing in R1 and Qualifying to play in the national league any cheaper than playing in ECNL? I don't get the money thing, I'm sorry. As far as parents, coaches and club egos - that can be any sports program in the USA from Rec to Elite. There is nothing wrong with having many options for our kids.PA strikers and other teams like them have the USYS option - Clubs in the NPL have the Champions League option and ECNL clubs have that option.PS. It's nothing like R1/National League because they are team based - NPL and ECNL are club based - big difference.
Are you sure the NPL is club based, I thought ECNL was and NPL wasn't. The EDP which is quasi part of the NPL was not club based.
EDP I believe is a one off.Everything I read and looking at some of the other leagues, they all seem to be club based. But then again, this is all from an outsider looking in.I am a huge soccer fan who has a young lady who loves to play soccer.I think the USSF needs to step in an unify the pyramid. Start with the Girls game see how it goes and then learn and apply it on the Boys side.level 1 - NWSLlevel 2 - W- Leaguelevel 3 - WPSLlevel 4 - ECNLlevel 5 - NPLlevel 6 - State Premier Leagueslevel 7 - Local Travel Leaguelevel 8 - Rec SoccerNot sure where to add Super Y since it's club neutral. We have so many Clubs and So many leagues - each believing their approach is the right one.We need the USSF to take control - but that won't happen - so we have what we have - many options - some real and some not so real. Not sure what the answer is and if there is one.I'm just enjoying my daughter's games and love talking soccer.
should just be rec, travel, state premier. Each state would have their own premier team to compete. Some states because of size and population could have two-East/West or North/South. This would be simple and the right way to go, but again peoples egos and money get in the way. The best travel teams would lose players to the state premier or complain that their travel team is better. As soon as a few do not make the state team. Again money and egos. 6.5 billion dollars in youth soccer per year. Was a great fan of ecnl when it started and it's original goals. How things have changed in 4 years.Instead of Elite it should be Everyone Club National League. Tried of beating teams 5-0. No development. Up to 30 player roster, what's up with that? Mandatory tournaments and rules that where players can or can not play. Less games more training ?
5:59 I like the idea - but I think ECNL got it right 8 Divisions.12 teams from 5 states in the NE is not overkill in my opinion - NE Division - CT, MA, NY, NJ & PA6.5 Billion Dollars - WOW!!!! - I agree that's why I am a fan of Club based leagues no need to go to a bunch of tournaments play your league games - win the league and advance to the regional/nationalsMy take on your points/questions. Not saying they are right or wrong.5-0 scores are going to happen sometimes - when you have teams playing teams from different states. Some areas are going to be strong and others not so strong. How can you say no development and Less games more training? Doesn't more training develop the players?30 players on a roster because not every player is going to be able to travel to every event (accross the country - that's a lot of loot) and you'll have enough girls to scrimmage.Mandatory tournaments - it's a national league - how else do you want to play teams from CA or TX - travel for 1 road game? Not sure about the rules - but why would you want to chance your players getting hurt for a non ECNL event?Just my take
One More reason why the ECNL is the smack.ECNL is throwing an event for you. KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Tom Sermanni, Head Coach, U.S. Women’s National Team. You Don't think Mr Sermanni is going to stick around and watch some soccer from each age group?
made most of 5:59 posters points. $$$$$ after the higher then normal team fees, club fees, extraordinary ecnl fees, mandatory tournament fees, and the extra training fees that get sneaked in, a player now has all that travel and time, add a parent or two and bingo! Talking with Free State parent she estimated at $9000.00. Of course if it was me, I would know exactly the amount, but seems she really didn't care. My daughter is an excellent athlete and soccer player that will stay playing R1 and still get that D1. We choose not to participate in outrageous scam of youth girls soccer called ecnl. She loves her HS soccer and State cups and ODP pool play. Did I say International too. ecnl could help the just above average soccer player with money get a college look, but have to pay the big bucks for it.Simple: Academics over academy any day.what's in your wallet ?
9:27 point taken, except you fail to realize you are paying for the biggest scam of all, ODP? I heard this year that fee was $2100+, and each year there are practices or tournaments that are cancelled and never made up. So that's a little like calling the kettle black, when you are paying $200 per practice session. Private training is only $35/hour. LOL. And I am not an ECNL parent - left PDA voluntarily when they asked me to pay $2500+ for my 10 year old to play soccer for primarily training sessions and no top tournaments. I hate being scammed.
Soccer has become an elitist sport at the highest levels, it does not matter if it is ECNL or NPL or even high level town clubs. Even if you just do the Jefferson Cup and the Disney Showcase you probably at $3-4000/year. So kids that are in the top 10-20% can only play if you have money, selecting out excellent players who can't afford it. It's a free country and people can spend their money how they like, but it is a sad system that eliminates a vast majority of the kids at such a young age.
9:24 I couldn't agree with you more.In the rest of the world people play soccer to "make it". However, in the USA top athletes play Baseball, Football and Basketball to "make it".How else are we going to get top notch training for our kids to play soccer? WE have to PAY to PLAY.Having said that the MLS academies are Free - it's a step in the right direction. But that's where the buck stops.MLS is a Franchise League - not an Open League - so the Big soccer clubs don't have a way to pay their trainers/coaches - so they have to charge big time $$$$$.Maybe the "homegrown player" rule will destroy the college draft and these clubs can get paid by MLS for developing the kids - that should drop the fess for us parents - because the clubs won't turn away players because of $$$$ if MLS is paying top dollar. But that's on the Boys side - the Girls side - I hope the NWSL sticks around for more than 3 years and gets strong as well - but we won't see that for our kids - maybe their kids.Just my take on this.
sjeb the dirtiest soccer team in the world
Gloucester (correct spelling) County dad, why ruin a very good discussion with this crap. One person's dirty is another person's physical. It depends on whether you win or lose or hold some type of grudge.
glouster mass. thank you very much and p.s. they are dirty.
12 year old girls three on the team coming home with black eyes= dirty in my book
Every team has will have a perspective, your book was written by you therefore it comes from your perspective. Was a U-12 team playing a U-13 team?
Dirtiest soccer team in the world?? not too much of an overstatement. Out of curiosity, did your team win or lose?
In the words of the great Monty Python, "Now for something completely different....."
Being from Mass. Where did you play them, this dirtiest team in the world?
If you think SJEB is dirty, you have obviously never played PDA gunners or Hamilton . Yellow cards at every match.
Or Toms River
My daughter has Played Against All Four Of Those Teams. I Dont Think Any Were Dirty. Theyre Good, physical Teams. Just My Opinion. Soccer Is A physical Sport. I Hate When A Team LOses A Match And Needs To Bash The Team That Beat Them.
sjeb alot of atlantic city trash on team hamilton= trenton both dirty p.s. we beat them both
I just found this surfing the net -"EDP will continue to offer an opportunity for all of its teams to compete in Division I and Division II. In addition to flight play, CLUBS can elect to be considered for participation in the US Club National Premier League (NPL). Please note this is a CLUB wide commitment."So the EDP NPL is club based.
I beleive that is correct and Clubs have to apply for NPL and the application is reviewed by US Club soccer, not just EDP, and US Club soccer then decides whether or not to accept that club.
Hamilton is THE DIRTIEST team in all of NJ. I seen a game where Hamilton swung their elbows and used stiff arms to get through a girl. There were 4 yellow cards in the game as well as 1 red card. The woman head coach doesn't say much but let's a father/parent coach run the sideline and he has no clue what he is doing. You cannot tell what he is yelling bc he does not speak English very well but he makes a lot of noise. He actively tells girls to take players out and knows nothing about the game. He is an embarrassment to NJ Youth Soccer. Then again you would think the woman head coach would stop the madness on that sideline.
Seen Hamilton twice this year and both games weren't soccer. The father-parent coach was barking the entire game telling girls where to go on the field and it actually hurt them for goals. The team is skilled to a degree but if you compare Hamilton to Thug River, Hamilton wins as dirtiest team in NJ.
bout time someone called this crazy coach out on the carpet. He is nuts as are the hamilton parents.
How many teams is MF fielding this fall?
Here is the link with the list of clubs that were approved by US Club to be in the NPL http://www.nationalpremierleagues.com/Clubs/index_E.htmlIt doesnt include the new Northeast Girls NPL yet but that will have FC Bucks, MatchFit, PDA, Penn Fusion, WorldClass, Albertson, Scorpions and FC Stars of Mass and some others.
Yes it is great to see talk other than bashing. I repeat I am not a TR parent. By chicken crap, I meant the individual trashing a u13 girls team. If that ain't $hit, I certainly don't know what is. Lots of girls recover, and some do not, or choose not to. Since you you can not get it through that magnificent brain, By professional, I meant, paid, respected, "a" licensed, continues their education, responsive, and communicative. and my kid has improved in all aspects of the beautiful game. She will play ECNL, and our second team will play NPL, albeit, not in your great state. Would you like to comment on the current thread? Strikers will stay strong. Their guest players at Delco, were players that are now rostered to the team. Don't make uninformed statements. Bucks beat them in state cup, not by much, and without their current players. Bucks is very strong also. Delco mostly all new players, PF added a bunch new. Should be interesting. NEFC, Starts and Worldclass all tops. For NJ, Gunners will be the team to beat,. They probably would have been NJ State cup winners without that SNAFU. PDA Pride, We will have to see. Different make up come fall. If MF ECNL is all PDA Athletica, they will be ok. FC Copa, sleeper? Have not seen them play for any length, just some minutes at Delco. They just played Gunners to a 2-1 loss. Could have been all Gunners with a low score, but I did not see the game. U14 is always an intersting year. Should be fun. Good luck to all.
1:43 Remember only one of those teams will qualify for the NPL Champions Cup next year unless they expand the format and start to include wildcards - I hope not. I like the Champions League Concept. 19 Leagues (not all have a Girl's side) send their Champion to the event.I like it a bunch makes the league games really import for the top teams with the dreams of being a National Champion and provides high level comp - games that mean something for the teams trying to develop their players for the next season - Tournament play with out "guest" players every weekend until the season ends.
encl- 24 player roster. rules say coach club can have up to 30 players , but most have about 24. Not sure how the playing time works, but if a player plays she usually stays, and if they sit the bench or get 10 minutes a game, or better yet are just practice dummies, most will move on. What's in your wallet???
And get good training in the meantime.
Good training, What's that? Of course they don't mention that and all the other positives because?A. They are a coach who doesn't want to lose players to an ECNL team.B. They are parents of girls on a team that are trying the same approach as option A - keep their best players?C. They are parents on an Actual ECNL team trying to scare possible new players.D. none of the above - just a troll since those points mean nothing to an actual soccer family who knows soccer.
I think you nailed it. Nor do they state how much $ they spend a year on trainers and all the $ on tournaments and travel to go all over to accumulate the all mighty points. And how many times will this person write encl, obviously doesn't even know what the acronym stands for. Silly anyway since people make choices based on their individual situation and what they feel is the best environment for their particular child. If a person is willing and able to spend extra money for an academy or extra money on outside training aside from their team training because they think that is the best fit for their child then so be it, that is their choice and what they feel is best for their kid. Conversely if someone is comfortable with the parent coach situation and their kid enjoys it, then so be it, that is where they should be if that's what they think is in their kids best interest. Why people get bogged down in the money thing... just put your child in the environment that best suits them and also in which you are comfortable financially, plain and simple.
1:13 Agreed. We might not be lucky as a soccer nation when it comes to paying some large fees sometimes - but WE ARE lucky to have all the options we have regardless of level for our kids to enjoy the game.Spot on kid.
24 spots on your shirt and you can only clean 11. 13 spots left and you now you can only partially clean 4.9 full spots and a few smudges left.Don't be a uncleaned dirty old smelly left over spot. Practice Dummies or team financiers. Pay not to play the ecnl way.
NJ Rush Soccer Club to hold open training/tryouts for rising U14, U15 & u16 girls teams out of the Princeton/Mercer County area. Tryouts to be held at Plummer Field at Princeton University on Tuesday, 7/16 and Thursday 7/18 from 7:00-8:30pm. Just catching up on all my soccer gossip and read about Hamilton. I too have seen this coach and team and they are dirty and the father coach is nice but crazy on the sidelines. Been that way for YEARS with other teams also. But you will not get comments on this team because they are an in-town team that NO ONE CARES ABOUT!
24 players on pda O'R team that are rostered. Only took 20 players to finals and could only dress 18 players on game day. Doesn't really matter b/c O,R only really plays 14 players anyways. 4 players did not travel and 2 others never even saw the bench with a uniform. 4 others had zero or token playing minutes.Hmmmm.... just saying
1. Wrong age group2. Have you ever considered guest players?3. Where did that info come from.... smh
OReillys are an incredible team. Go troll somewhere else.
yes they are but it will be a matter of time before they turn that team into a good NJ team and a mediocre team like they did to the Gunners.
Re: O'Reilly playing timeWell. that's elite level soccerGirls need to work their way into the top 14....then top 11......Has there been any change in the top 14 since u11?
I think the point about 24 players and only 14 really play is more about development or not. Heard about some parents complaining that their duaghters actually fall behind and undevelop because they simply do not play in games. Things change at u-15 and older anyways, as players(parents) want looks from schools. Really difficult when sitting on bench or in street clothes yelling "go team" Someone posted once that anything over 16/17 players is revenue generating and fullfilling EGOs.
Not all ECNL teams are that way at all. They roster 18 girls. If there are additional names on our ECNL website, it is girls that all play withn the club, but at a younger age division. Playing up and practicing up is encouraged by not only ECNL, but also, the US National Development coach. They were rostered to both teams so the coach had the option to use them if needed. That's it. Our DOC was clear that 18 will be rostered, and agrees more is silly. Likely 14-15 will see the most minutes. Top 14 play, that is the norm at U14 and above. It it is what it is. There is nothing saying that your child can not break that line up during the year. Know your club. Actually rostering 20+ girls in any way other than above, has to be for the $$. The problem is that parents usually do not judge their child correctly regarding where they fall. If your kid is in this situation:1) get additioanl training and work harder outside of practice.2) move to a team where your child gets playing time, becuase they do fall within the top 14. You can not sit the bench and get better! (May need to swallow some pride to do what is right for your kid) 3) Stay with current team and stop bitching and realize where your kid falls within that team, be honest with her, and tell her that hard work pays off. If you really believe that your kid is getting a crappy deal due to favorites, or is being treated unfairly, move her. Do not get caught up in all the ECNL, this is the best club, this is the best training, BS. You can not change a coach or a clubs ego or attitude, you can only change you and your situatuion. Your daughter should decide as she is the one playing or sitting. As a former player, I would have worked my A$$ off to prove you wrong, but also, I would also have moved to play. I never wanted to come out for a breather let alone not get in a game. The pure happiness of being on the field and playing soccer, can not be explained unless you have experienced it. Trust me, if she truly loves the game, she is crushed a little each time this happens, but hides it well. I wish some coaches that were former players, would actually be brave enough to tell you this, but they can't, becuase no one would fill out the rosteres. Do what is right for you, but JC, If you have been bitching about play time since u11 and will still now be bitching about it at u14, change something!
Pda Gunners lose first game to Sockers FC 4-2 in National championship. As a blogger said earlier, Gunners cant win out of NJ
"National Championship"? Hah! Have you looked at the three other teams in the Gunners' bracket? What a joke!
National Championship in terms of who wins among those teams that were eligible. They can call it what they want. As far as I know there is no real OPEN Nat C. Where all the top teams can enter and we find absolute supremacy on a national level in each age group.
I wish they would consider that 1:20 although it would take a full year every weekend and weeknight, it would truly be the way to tell the best of the best
Does not really matter until u-15 or above. Be truthful we should not have traveled much at u-13 or even u-14. Maybe within the Region, but that's about it. Believe me most us will need the money in a couple years. Just checkout what top teams are really paying at u-16 and include all the extras: Travel,Time, extra training time on turf, 5 day a week practices instead of 3 plus on wkds, paying for coaches extras.Air fare and hotel, food spending money etc.. it keeps going. Even the ones that play for free have to pay for the travel etc... funny though they always manage to do it.

PDA Gunners, National champs.Congrats!!
congratulations to PDA GUNNERS, they worked hard and overcame tough 1st game lost . Great final Game and a 3-1 win . I guess the gunners can win outside new jersey > On to Chicago now in August. CONGRATULATIONS
Good for them
Where is your daughter's team playing labor day weekend?
Gunners did not win the NPL championship. Why are you bragging? No one (any good) played the Other playoffs going on at same time. Scouts out watching NPL, not teams ranked 400 nationally. Lol.But a sincere congrats to Gunners for playing outside their comfort zone!
You can only play who are in front of you> What npl team in nj that we would face can beat the gunners . I believe they have beaten them all > The team they did beat in the final was no Illinois and top 20 nationally. I highly doubt your daughters team was better. In fact the gunners have probably already beaten your team and are now using this forum to diplay your anger
Well , the gunners play whoever is put in front of them . They have beaten every npl and other team in ny they play on a regular basis. They beat a quality team from Illinois in the championship game , ranked 2 in their state and top 20 nationally . They are progressing very well and most have high expectations for their future
Gunners have not beaten WC, YMS, FSA CT or even North Rockland Sting, Manhattan Santos, and ABGC that I am aware of. I am not jealous of Gunners - I think they are a good team and will get even better as PDA continues their "drop bottom third" ways and recruits from the best of the aforementioned teams. Just pointing out that the teams at the US Cup tournament were nothing to brag about and there are many local teams still left to try and beat.
No anger or pettiness displayed. Just pointing out that the teams at US Club championships were nominal at best, and that Locally the Gunners have yet to beat YMS, WC, ABGC, Manhattan, FSA CT and probably others. Even within NJ games have been close with NJ Crush/Stampede and FC Copa. There is a lot of parity in this age group which is GREAT for Mid Atlantic soccer.
Gunners could be a great team if the coach would stop starting the five players he has coached for 5 years personally and leaving them out there for too long while 5 studs watch from the sideline only to get a couple of minutes.
Get with the times. They got a new coach last year.
It's clear that you have absolutely no idea how the team operates, and is saying this just to hate on PDA.
Well, they have not beaten ABGC hopefully if they travel to Chicago they will see them there. They have beat Fsa Ct and Mahattan Santos both pretty handily in the past year . Have not played WC in almost a year maybe longer hope to see them soon . The Copa games were really not that close as those teams had the ball very little. I agree that regionally some better teams to play now , but was pointing out to earlier bloggers that this gunner team has improved a great deal in the past year and should now be ready to take wins from that Virginia team and Wc. AS far as the New Jersey teams not sure they will be able to play with this team now .
9:14, You have no clue, I am talking about the new coach, They brought him in because he was familiar with some of the NEW gunners that came up from atletica last year whom he trained and who is also a friend of the directorThey can be a great team but politics again will rear its ugly head and prevent it from happening. They are consistently inconsistent
New gunners trained by that coach? The 30 player roster wasn't selected by that new coach, it was selected by their previous one! Do you even know how many players who were previously on the Atletica are on the Gunners now? Most likely not.
Are the Gunners playing a full fall schedule this year? I heard a sizable number of them were on the older end of the age group and were entering high school this year?
exactly why to carry 30 players. Can only game day roster 18, so counting on 12 not being able to play. Imagine the money generated by carry 30 players verses the norm of 17-18. $$$
11:26 do you even know what happened at Baltimore Mania this spring? Gunners did not beat Manhattan, let alone handily. Or FSA. And I checked on the Copa game, it certainly was not dominated by Gunners like you claim. Copa had a wide open shot at end of game to tie and go to PK, only it missed by inches. I think PDA parents live in La La Land, wishing they all had a team like the OReillys, and then in their minds they begin to think they actually do. Lol. Speaking of OReillys, something like 4 or 5 of their players are joining the Gunnets this year because OReillys will play a high school schedule, and those 4 or 5 players are not high school age yet. So Gunners will look better than they actually are this spring due to an influx of temporary talent. Keep that in mind folks when Gunners parents claim they are World Champs this fall.
Lets go to your concerns one by one > The gunners team that went to baltmore was not the pre ecnl team it was the other part of the gunners . The gunners ecnl team will have less than you claim form the O'reilly team and that will temporary as you say . They will play a full ECNL schedule so that shluld alleviate yur concern . They will not carry 30 on their ecnly team probably 21 or so which is at the low end compared to other ecnl teams. And yes since baltiomore th this pre ecnl team has beaten santos and the pre ecnll as i said have not played fsa ct . that was the other gunnners team that went to balitmoe . I am not sure what team you are bascking but if it was in nj they will have been beaten by thei ecnl gunners team. You obviuls ly dont know as much as you think about this subject and sound like disgruntled parent whose daughter didnt make the gunners ecnl team .
No not disgruntled parent and you seem to be responding to multiple posts in one reply. It was a Gunners parent loudly talking on sideline of Baltimore mania who stayed that 7 Gunners were sent back home on Saturday night to play in a pre-ECNL game and half of them were starters on ECNL team. So sounds like Gunners parents are as confused as everyone else as to which team (Blue or White?) and which kids are ECNL. Lol.The sole point was the parity that exists at this age group. No one team is dominate, despite what parents proclaim here.
Mix and match at pda ? not sure how that works, please explain. Who decides whom loses playing time when others come in to play, and from where? playing up is against ecnl internal rules/customs. Sure probably the one or maybe two exceptions, but 4-5 from one team?Question is: do you pay to play at pda, or just pay and others come in and play then go.
They did beat FSA at the PDA spring kickoff, 2-0.
Obviously, the gunners aren't world champs, and I haven't heard that claim yet. 8:33, your ignorance shows. The 30 player roster was split into a pre-ecnl and jags team, for the 2012 to 2013 season. The Gunners ecnl roster will have maybe 21 players...
almost all the hate seems to be centered on toms river and pda....and to be quite honest, there's nothing wrong with either team. Why continue making up rumors and false accusations about them, rather than just focus on your daughter's team, how well they probably do, and let them play the game they love?
Why is anyone who has a negative opinion or comment about the Gunners or a PDA team a parent of a child who didn't make or got cut from the Gunners or a PDA team. Anyone who has ever played any Gunner team sees the same 7 or 8 girls when you want to win the game. They just move them on to the roster for that game and they are the 7 or 8 on the ECNL team. We all see it so PLEASE stop telling us that we don't know what we are talking about and how uninformed we all are. They are a good team not great yet but moving in the right direction. If they keep moving players around it will only hurt them. Team Chemistry is very important at this age and above to make a team great.
"Team" what is that, that's for lower level travel and rec teams and is perfectly fine and great for those groups. At this level and age its about individual development and some are willing and able to pay more money for it, plain and simple and so what, make your own choice and live and let live. And I agree with earlier poster, who cares about bashing Thugs River and PDA, let them be.
Listen I agree, because you have a negative opinion of a pda team does not mean that you are a disgruntled parent. The fact is that within penn and nj the gunners are the best club in this age group . The next stepping stone is get their 20 -21 players to be able to play consistently at a very high level and win most time when they play the other good team wfc ,nefc .stars of mass . They are making gret progress and building a great team at this age group through their young athletes and good coaching . This fall will help cement that goal . ECnl is a very competitive league in the north east so the challenge is there > Then we will see if those that say the gunners are the best team in the region are correct>
3:52. Not a PDA parent, but please get your facts straight before making false comments. ECNL expects that girls within certain age groups will develop at different rates. These girls should be afforded the opportunity to train and play with older age groups when appropriate to foster their development. This is a fact and is happening at our club for those identified girls. The US National Youth Development coach, April Kater, stated the same at a youth soccer event. I can send you the power point if you would like. If a kid shows that kind of talent, it is better for them to train up to foster their development. It makes sense, when my duaghter plays or trains with tougher competition she has to work harder. Who cares what PDA does? I am certain come fall they will have an ECNL team and a NPL team, just like our club. THE NPL team will be their "b" team with girls that are either not ready to play on the ECNL Team, or, maybe the parents decided against the ECNL at this time. Who cares how they move girls around? It will effect them eventually if it is done to the extent that you guys state. If those parents are ok with it, they will tolerate it, if not they will wake up and move. Trust me if somethink stinks or is broken at that club, peoople will start to notice, and will make a change. Let the chips fall where they may, instead of rehashing the same stuff over and over.
Not a single pda ecnl team has less then 24 players. Anything over 18 is revenue generating. Not bashing pda, but hate to be that 18-24 or more player. ecnl rules allow up to 30 players.
Players 18-24 are at best practice dummies. At worst they are tokens for their parents to wave around. "My daughter is on the ECNL squad at (Name of club here)." "does she get minutes?""no" "does she travel?""no" "is she happy?""no" "Then WTF is she doing on the ECNL squad?"Wake up and let your girls play soccer. the only way they play is if they are on a team with 15-16 players. If you are looking for some sort of scholarship, get your kid off the pitch and into the library. For every $1 in athletic money there are $10 in academic money. In case you've never checked, a D1 women's soccer team has the equivalent of 13.1 full out of state scholarships to give to 22-23 players. The studs get almost full rides. Leaves 8-9 kids to fight over the remainder. The rest play for free. Ouch!
How many teams will MF field this fall, and where will they play? I have heard something completely baffling from a MF older parent that one of the teams will have the girls who live up north train in the north one day a week, and the girls who live in the south will train in Hazlet, then the third day the entire team will train together in Hazlet. To the MF people out there - is that accurate?
PDA Gunners - US Club Soccer State Champions! PDA Gunners - US Club Soccer Mid-Atlantic Regionals Champions! PDA Gunners - US Club Soccer National Champions! Now put a fork in it because it's DONE !!
Pda ecnl team will carry 24 while pda B team carries 16 but is making the parents pay extra to make up for the two open spots. Talk about generating revenue.
Anything over 18 players? Sorry to burst your bubble, but I'm pretty sure every ECNL team out there has at least 18.
Njsa, now nj rush, isn't even that great of a team. They are aggressive and only have a couple strong girls for the team. Not including goalie. A girl had slammed an sjeb player into the ground during a tournament. The poor sjeb player had cut marks on her face. Way to aggressive sometimes
NJSA,now NJ Rush, is an aggressive team. They don't have many girls who can hang in there, but all they do is push. During a tournament I was watching them play against SJEB and of course they lost, but also got to aggressive- poor SJEB girl left that day with cut marks all over her face as the NJSA player pushed her into the ground on purpose....they are to aggressive, it's dangerous.
True. It is a waste. Not all clubs roster that many. We have 18. Again, it is a parental decision. If the kid is sitting, she most likely is unhappy. If the parents tolerate it, it is their problem, not ours, correct? Who are we to criticize. I will say again, I would have rather played then sit and gather splinters, period. Maybe some girls are really on the NPL team, but are rostered to the ECNL team for easier movement between teams? If they truly have 20+ girls on the ECNL team and a full 18 on their NPL Team, there will be many unappy young girls sitting each weekend. It does not effect me or you, and if someone thinks that is better for their kid, you can shake your head in wonder, while being happy with your decision. If this is how PDA operates, and the family knows going in, so be it. To the poster claiming that girls were moved down from O'Reilly, I say Kudos to them, they must be pretty good to have been playing up all this time. They still must be AGE appropriate. Who would want to sit the fall season out if only going into 8th grade? Come spring they will move up, hence the extra players? A non factor after this year. So maybe this team has a little glitch because of some really good players that have been playing up? Oh well. Hopefully our team shows well against this team as they have more experience, if not, my kid will see what she and her mates need to do to get there.

NJSA is not NJ Rush. Two different teams. You can tell them apart by their uniforms...
No one good? Assuming you know how each team plays, because obviously, your child's team is so much better 9:56
Wait a minute. NJSA Highalnd Surge is now the NJ Rush team at U14. Says so on GotSoccer, and Highland soccer club state it on their web site. How many NJ Rush teams are in NJ? First Pittsgrove, then Highalnd, now I see posts for teams forming in the Princeton area? Will the real NJ Rush please stand up? Just curious.
Hamilton Wildcats White also went to NJ Rush
Hamilton Wildcats White also went to NJ Rush
From what I understand, Rush is more like a licensing arrangement rather than a club setting down roots. I believe that is what they did with NJSA as well. In both cases, I don't think that they are a club trying to establish roots in a single location. Presumably, the team is supposed to get some benefit by being affiliated with a "National Club." Rush bills themselves as the largest youth soccer club in the world.
NJ Rush is nothing more than a licensing program that gives you access to a broader clubs name. Any club that wants to seek an affiliation can. It is almost like a franchise where you buy your way in to use their network and resources. There is supposed to be a development and coaching philosophy that is supposed to offer kids more that is why you see the clubs spread out. Rush is not setting down roots. It was actually started and run from Colorado and is build as the largest youth soccer club in the world. Highland tried licensing the NJSA name but without commitment and resources I don't see how these clubs develop over time.
Hamilton Wildcats White also went NJ Rush
NJSA04 Highland will be NJ Rush in the Fall so: 12:06, get a little knowledge before you try an attempt at humor. Highland had a failed experiment with NJSA where as I understand, they licensed the name but received little support. NJSA never committed or invested in the south. Highland broke with NJSA and has now affiliated with Rush soccer out of Colorado. This is a franchise/licensing arrangement whereby the club receives support for development and coaching. There is really no investment locally by Rush and it is why you do not see a single club location. Any team can apply to join Rush soccer. Rush bills themselves as the largest youth soccer club in the world. The club is supposed to get recruiting and development benefits by being a "National" club.
Not to be confused with the NJSA Bulldog team that plays out of Jackson
NJ Dynamo has lost 4 teams and 6 of 10 coaches in the last month. What is happening in Flanders?
I find it unbelievable that PDA is able to field another Atletica team. They demote the team, fire the coach, give the team no viable league to play in, so coach leaves with most of girls to Matchfit ... And yet PDA finds a new crop of families willing to shell out $3K to be on a Third Team With No League. Come on people, wake up and smell the roses. This team exists only to fund the boys academy!
Daddy, just shut up and write the big check, I wanna play for PDA!!!!
Stop hating on PDA. If you have complaints, go tell someone who cares. I'm really sick of people criticizing teams that they don't like for one reason or another (Toms River, Gunners, Hamilton) or have anything to do with. If those parents are willing to pay for their daughter to be on that team, so what? It doesn't have anything to do with your daughter's soccer, does it?
Enlighten us with something new. Youth soccer is a money grubbing venture, it's not just PDA, it's tournament fees, it's being forced to use a tournament's travel agent for travel, its ODP, its camps, it's deals cut by the clubs and the uniform suppliers, its many club charging more than $2000 for entry fees not including all the additional costs.
Okay let me get this straight, you are finding it hard to believe that the Atletica still exist. Wow I am disappointed in you on that one. Atletica will always exist as long as kids will need a place to develop and play. You say the demote the team and fire the coach and have no viable league to play in oh and the coach took most of the girls to Matchfit. And to say lastly that they pay OVER $3000 to be on a "THIRD" team. I sure hope you are sitting down for this cause this may hurt a little. First the team was not demoted by any means it is doing what it was intended to do and thats "DEVELOP" Just look at the current roster of the Gunners and Matchfit. Firing GW that simply did not happen. GW chose to leave on his own and there was no hard feelings on either side well at least from what either side says. So get your story straight on that one. No league to play in well I know they are in the JAGS league but I guess thats not a league anymore since you are "ECNL" now but wait I will get back to that in a second. Lastly before I spilt your wig back to the white meat is that PDA is not $3000 at all so once again get your facts straight. Now back to you. How is your team any different than the Atletica, if you said that the coach took "MOST" of the girls. Now if he took "MOST" of the girls then is that team Atletica with just a different name.....SMH. So you leave to join that team because of what..hummm ECNL yeah so now you are paying OVER $2500 to call a High School field your "HOME" field. Now you're paying "OVER" $2500 to us a place that has and grants public access during your practice. For over $2500 I see people riding bikes, training kids etc all on your dime under the lights. For all over $2500 seriously maybe you need to wake up and smell the roses, because this team only existance is for what....I hope it is to develop as the Atletica has is continuing to do.
Is the EDP going to be the same as the Northeast NPL? I beleive the Northeast league will be made up of only ECNL clubs. If not, then maybe Pride plays Northeast NPL and Athletica plays EDP? That would be my bet, but who knows. No way someone is spending that kind of $ to play Jags. If that is not the case, I agree it seems silly, but oh well. Norheast NPL:AlbertsonConn. 4:52 you are certainly brainwashed. Yeah and go find the PDA email from October, only to Gunner families, announcing that their previous coach was being let go effective immediately, and Atletica coach would be let go in May. Get your own facts straight. And if you don't think PDA parents pay over $3K you are misinformed. Many extras, private training with staff coaches, travel plus high tuition fees. And at this age, for a club team, NO JAGS DOES NOT COUNt AS COMPETITIVE. But of course, the children are developing. Yeah, OK.
Private training with staff coaches? Is this a conflict of interest?
Someone sounds unhappy. Is your child an ex-PDA player, or someone who didn't make the cut? Boo hoo. Now, if these parents are willing to pay that money so their daughter can play in a respected club, then so be it. Many Atletica players have 'developed' enough to become part of the Gunners.
Separate, private, and expensive training with PDA coaches absolutely occurs, just go to akkasoccer.com and looks who the trainers are.
You said it not me." willing to pay that money so their daughter can play"Sounds like buying your time .
@August 2 12:01pm I don't need to go find that email I remember it and I do remember it coming "AFTER" the season thats right AFTER the season. I also know that GW was to remain with the Atletica thoughtout the year, which he did. Coaching changes are good and helpful for both players and coaches. To play at PDA full sided it was cost $2400, nothing more, nothing less. Where you get $3000 is funny but I see how you try to throw coaches under the bus but with training outside of PDA and charging their players for it. Well again that is perfectly fine with me. I am not obligated to attend these sessions by any means nor are you. There are plenty of coaches that do that on the side as a side business to make money. Don't forget that youth sports are business in this country. Again if you thing that GW isn't running sessions then you are "STUPID" because I know for a FACT that he does and you know what.......he should. This is business and options are good to have. Do you have to attend those sessions.......nope but they are there if you need them. I will go on record and say sure you know how to play soccer probably but I was clearly say you have no idea about "SPORTS" and certainly YOUTH SPORTS. Just because you are no longer in JAGS and now a part of ECNL or NPL you feel that JAGS is less and not worthy. Talking about brainwashed. JAGS is a very good league and yes kids will develop. There are teams that do very well in ECNL but as you know ECNL is a CLUB based league and not team based. You just better hopes you beat the likes of Albertson, East Meadow, Penn Fusion, CFC. IF not don't worry about JAGS you better worry about all the negitive comments you are going to read on here then. Trust me the BULLSEYES is on Matchfit now and I wish your daughters team well but hey back to me tell you about your fee at Matchfit. I would be willing to say that you pay more then PDA parents and I will tell you this in final. Don't forget to leave the lights on for me as I train on the track on your dime lol lol oh and remember the track is not part of your clubs permit lol lol see you soon.
If I not mistaken doesn't everyone do private training with their own coaches.
Spirit flights posted. TR- top flight(I'm not a TR parent)Time to put your $$ where your mouths were prior to regionals
TR played and won against 6 out of the other 11 teams on their flight in the last two seasons.
Enough about TR. How did NJSA Bulldogs get top flight?
Spirit tournament is not as strong this year as in past years. TR plays Quickstrike who is hot and cold. Who knows how they will be at Spirit as well as FC Europa who isn't the same team as year's past. I would give the nod to Quickstrike, but I would not be surprised to see TR win their group. Oh yeah, I was supposed to start by saying not a TR parent. How about SJ Elite and NJSA also being placed in the top group? SJ Elite has a good chance to win their group also. NEFC will be tough, but this is not the same team that won regionals.
TR- parent. Throw out 2 seasons ago. That's a long time a go at this age. Your best case is semi finals. Pa Strkers wins this easily.
Look, I do not care what PDA charges, but to the $2400.00 posted above, come on, really? $2400.00 covers the training and coach, period. All tournaments, uniforms, ref fees, etc are extra? Do you have a budget that includes all of the extras and incidentals, divided by the number of kids on the team, giving you a per player cost for the year? Before you ask, yes, I do. Maybe $2400.00 for the ECNL team, and all travel, coaches travel, tourneys, etc. are covered? Just becuase you pay $2400.00 and than have fund raisers, does not mean that it only costs $2400.00. Again, I don't care, but I think you are being disingenuous. How many more entertainment books, candy, and other nonsense do your friends and co-workers really want to buy? My guess is, not much, so you are buying that stuff. If that is not the case, I am sorry and will admit to being wrong. When making an informed or helpful response, you have to use punctuation and spell check, if not, the bloggers will just think that you can't do math either.
Not a TR parent and I did not say two seasons ago or that they will easily beat anyone in the flight. Just stated the fact that TR beat 6 out 11 teams in the flight. Five of them in the last five months
I think the Strikers may struggle at Spirit. I don't see them running away with it easily. This team is built to run on all cylinders come Spring when games matter most. I see a slow start to the fall season in their future. I would predict they find a way to win their group. Honestly don't know much about Sunrise FL. The finals are not out of the question, but I would guess Century United wins this event. They have been playing meaningful games all summer.
Sure you care about what PDA pays or you wouldn't be trying to comb through what parents as you do or doing. As a parent I have never paid for a tournament, ref fees, etc. Uniforms yes I have, but what club doesn't charge for uniforms. It seems when I ask you for examples of these findings they fall on death ears or they are ignored. I find that funny but I find it that truth speaks through silence. I have not paid for any coaches travel. I have never had to do a fundraiser of any kind. I pay $2400 and thats it. All that stuff you are talking I am confused and wondering if we are talking about the same PDA or maybe we are talking about your club and you are using PDA to sprew at them. I don't know but I am still waiting for examples and when you use "etc" it just shows you really have no real grip but just hoping for one or someone to step up.
USYS posted their National League acceptances this week. I think you can stick a fork in them. The competition is getting weaker and weaker every year. What happened to NEFC? Regional Champs and didn't even accept their automatic bid. No teams from Massachusetts, Connecticut, Eastern NY, New Jersey, or Virginia. Two Western New York teams from the same club? I can See Buffalo being deserving, but Syracuse too? A Western PA team. Nice job Century! Then you have YMS??? Did the Strikers even apply? These are definitely not the best 4 non-ECNL teams from Region 1. This goes to prove that US Youth Soccer is no where near relevant anymore.
PDA doesnot ask you to sell candy or books. They do require you to donate large sums of $ in both winter and spring for their fundraisers, and to bonk inert work hours for their tournaments. The strongly requested per child donation for the soccer marathon is $300. The spring golf outing is not a set amount, but each team must purchase advertising space in the outing brochure, must create a tricky tray basket to be auctioned off, and buy seats at the golf lunch and/or purchase a golf foursome. In addition there are winter fees, ESFL fees ( for younger age groups, and tournament and coaches travel fees for anything more than 2 tournaments I think. Which comes to well over $3K without adding in personal travel costs or private training.
And don't forget the expense of the mandatory PDA camps.
My daughter played 2 years for PDA. The tuition was 2200 for 2011/2012 seasons. No fees for tournaments or coaches expenses. When she didn't make the team and signed up for MFC, I was shocked to be billed for tournament and coaches expenses. I think PDA having their own fields made the fees less than other clubs
Hey Youth Soccer Talk. I understand your need to moderate the foum and hopefully it will raise some of the commentary on this site. I tink you will lose the interest of people ifyou are unable to provide timely approval of posts. It maks discussions hard to follow and disjointed.
You got that right PDA doesn't sell candy or books and trust me its not REQUIRED to donate or as you say the $300 dollars. My daughter raised on her own $138.50 and thats what she turned in. Nothing more nothing less. I was asked to donate $20 for the golf outing. I have never paid for one tournament either smallsided or fullsided. Once again you are still reaching and you have yet to say what you pay at MF, but save yourself I already know and been knowing for years and not that it matters but MF is move expensive then PDA and the kicker is you are paying all that money because you have every right to and its your business but for you to sit here and try to pick at PDA after you left this place on your own because I know you were invited back but made a choice for your own personal reasons but to sit here and try to compare apples and oranges is crazy and I am not speaking about the kids because to me the kids in both of these programs are all Apples in my eyes and they are all great young atheletes in my eyes but for what you pay and I pay I say you are getting the short end of the stick because you can't even mention anything about a home field or saying this is my clubs facility. Nothing like that and you are paying more than me. Please explain what are you paying for. I know training but so are we so are you going to tell me you are paying over 2500+ for training. Oh and your team camp this week was not free. Just don't forget to leave the lights on for me while I train on your dime. Just not right that people can do that but hey the track is not in the contract........
I have no bone to pick, and have heard that figure floated around a lot. I simply stated that our club sends a spreadsheet that shows every expense including tournaments, ref fees, field rentals, winter space, and what the cost of both coahes are. Our fees are pretty similiar. Last year our fee came to about $2300. Our fee included a local tournament to get dust off, Spirit, Jeff cup, delco and wags. If your fee includes everything great. I apologize. I know people that had to fundraise for certain teams. Maybe becuase the teams were new, with no history, or maybe they are dastardly liars. I did not leave and am not. MF parent. We are happy at our club across the river. Before you accuse people of being bitter, ask yourself why you need to be so defensive. Good luck to you and your daughter. I am sure that if she is on the PDA ECNL team we will cross paths, and we will both be $2400.00 poorer, give or take.
I like the spread sheet idea. Put everything in writing and be transparent(a new concept). Always extras that come up, or a great opprotunity that was not in the budget. Tough to budget Regionals and Nationals. I know our team qualified for more play at end of season and we paid extra for turf fields etc.. to prepare. Travel costs for coaches?A very good team with excellent experienced coaches trainers ends up paying $ 5000 plus a year when all said and done.Just know it up front. Only one or two per very good team play for free, or a big discount.Club usually helps out here, not the other parents.
I love when someone thinks that you are posting from a certain team, Calls you out for not having your own fields, and facts correct, thinks you attended some kind of team camp for additonal $$, then are told where you come from, and what your fees include, and has no resposne. I can honestly say Thank you for that. It shows dignity and that, maybe, you do not think that we are all a bunch of idiots. Again. Good luck to your daughter. I like watching good soccer, and seeing the girls at this age, trying to play the right way, and make the right decision, whether it is executed or not. I freely admit when girls are better then mine, and when teams are also. That's just good sportsmanship. My daughter will learn those same lessons from me.
Let's get thru the labor day tournament 1st, but wags brackets are up!
I'm really surprised Copa is not in the top flight.
I am surprised about Copa also especially considering the NJ teams in the WAGS top flight. I heard the NJ Stallions got crushed this weekend in a friendly against PA Strikers.
Copa does not belong to the top flight. They play lots low level soccer to accumulate points.
It is not up to them to select the fight but the did beat most of the teams on that 2nd fight.
Lets see how all the teams do this weekend at Spirit, and then next weekend at the various Labor Day tournaments. Hopefully then teams will be flighted correctly for October tournies. Regarding Copa didn't they just make it to finals in US Cup and/or Mid Atlantic Regionals? That would account for a lot of points, not against low level teams.

Strikers, Quickstrike, Copa, SJEB.Quickstrike v Copa final
Strikers vs Century equals Strikers 3-0. They get better constantly and will have everyone present. If they have a close game I will be surprised. They are a team where truly past results do not mean anything. If they play PF again it will be a blow out. They will have watched the tapes and found where your weakest. And attack it. Over the top for u14.
Copa= no chance
Your giving the Strikers too much credit. They are a nice team and I agree they will continue to improve and probably dominate outside the ECNL in years to come. But they don't have all the horses just yet. That team still could use some help in areas. They have definite weaknesses. But then again, so does every team in this age group.
Wish the Strikers had entered Stars Cup in Boston. That looks to be the real tournament to watch Labor Day. Stars, NEFC, World Class, Bethesda...Lots of good games. Copa, Santos, and Quickstrike will be tested. Too bad Gunners aren't in this one either. Pride and Atletica are in what is arguably second tier (even though it gets even billing with the above mentioned bracket)
10:03 I hope you like to eat crow.
Gunners will be at FC Stars, just check the Athletica and Pride rosters .
Century United loses first game. Long road to finals and victory over Strikers.
Pride and Atletica are in the second flight, no argument needed. The names of the flights are similar, but that's all. No even billing.
Looks like Copa and Century out
I love blowhards getting a high via their kids accomplishments. . Have you played a sport competitively? Truth... Strikers out played PF the first Game. PF girls were nervous, as we all know PAS are 3rd in the nation, correct? (love GS). Final, lucky. Blown call with 20 seconds left in tied game, you saw, it happened right in front of you. Re-hashing unnecessary. Equally skilled PF and PAS players,. PAS players pounding the ball out of bounds, as PF continued aggressive attack most of 2nd half. Had PF players taken just a little longer to retrieve 1 of those, game goes into OT. Time management, check, learned. It's about tactics now, and ir you think PAS has a lock on training tactics, frankly, you're a fool.Did PAS lose to the Gunners in a friendly, learn from that tape? They will. be PF true test. PDA is probably not getting any better either, by your account, only PAS knows how to train. PDA placed more girls in D1 schools, probably this year alone, than PA Strikers ever. I am certain though, if those girls were good enough, they would play for PAS.Who wants to be part of that toxicity? Your comments are a testament to your insecurity. petty, ugly people feel whole by putting others down. When secure in your ability, and decisions, there's no need for bragging, and the constant ramming down of everyone's throats how great your team is. YAWN. Our girls played together, laughed together, formed friendships at the RI camp. Why parents are idiots, I do ponder. Look, I can be an idiot also, Good luck in PAGS, bet you win the division.
4:15What happened- love the meaningless smack talk. Tr in semi's, Copa out. Century out. PAS in.
12:14 am up posting? Seriously? Loser. Ramblings of someone who is not of sound mind. I have a child on one of these teams but after that post im afraid to admit which one. I don't care who's better, i think currently its clear but only time will tell. That being said who cares which is better if your child is seeing top competition, getting good training, learning teamwork, getting exercise, etc... Couple pieces of advice, don't log on after midnight especially if you haven't taken your medication, get help if you have to but above all get a life.
Strikers win 2-1 in finals at Spirit. SJEB loses in semi's
Quick strike 0-3. ??
Kinda hard to have any flow with 12hr delay on posts. Mods please fix?
Strikers win Spirit. Just facts, not bragging. I just watched the game, no skin in it.
What happened to PDA Columbus Day tournament. Logged on to see accepted teams and tourney not listed anymore?????
Maybe other clubs are tired of funding PDA teams thru tournaments!!Why keep putting money in the pockets of club who will grab your best player for the next season.
Hi to the post that said that the gunners will be at stars. They will no pda athletica and pride will be there. Pride as a full team and Athletica has 15 players. They might get one from the gunners, gunners have been busy this summer and are preparing for the ecnl season . So Athletica an pride will do this on there own
