Marlboro/CTR

Anonymous said...

Congrats to Matchfit on their first round advancement in the NJ cup.

Anonymous said...

I can promise you MatchFit, no one cares.

Anonymous said...

Marlboro no longer has a team?

Anonymous said...

Manhattan canceled.

Anonymous said...

Anyone know how to contact U15 boys from team at Marlboro that folded

Anonymous said...

Marlboro folded? How do you know that?

Anonymous said...

One of their players contacted my team about guest playing this season.

Anonymous said...

If they "folded" then he would not need to guest play. He would be able to join.

Anonymous said...

Noted. It's more of a 2-way trial to see how it goes.

Anonymous said...

Makes sense, good luck. Why does Marlboro no longer have a team, very strange.

Anonymous said...

That Marlboro team was strange. Had some really good players, some athletes, and a few that took up a roster spot. Once the roster spot players received play time the good ones left. No need to play on a team like that when there are many other options.

Anonymous said...

If clubs expect anyone to stay, they better give every player playing time. Everyone made the team, everyone is paying the same money. If they just want subs who never play, charge them less, otherwise, they're just taking advantage of paying customers and hurting kids.

Anonymous said...

Thank you recreation coordinator

Anonymous said...

A club is not getting my business if my kid sits on the bench every game but there are a surprising number of people who put up with this.

Anonymous said...

If your son is on the bench, be aware that he has hit his ceiling. Find a team a notch lower and play there.

Anonymous said...

I don't see Marlboro listed, are they completely done?

Anonymous said...

Yes Marlboro is done for sure. It was a successful run for the boys, but when 4 great players leave it is no hope. 4 went to PDA. From what I've heard, their keeper joined the U-16 team where it is a more competitive level. Those kids had potential. Outstanding midfielders, fantastic goalie, unbelievable individuals who knew how to play. So yes, from what I hear the u15 Galaxy team is done.

Anonymous said...

So then I suppose we should expect to see an improved Rooney squad this year?

Anonymous said...

4 great players? One was great, two are good and one is too slow to be good. These players and parents waited until one month before the season started to tell anyone they were leaving. What does that tell you about them? You want the backstabbers, take them. They are not on an academy team, just on a team that Marlboro beat. You want to leave, go ahead but dont screw the rest of you your team.

Anonymous said...

How don't you think that those 4 players were not good. 4 of them were maybe the best on the team. Was it because your son may not have been those best 4, or was it that you were jealous that your son isn't on the 4 that left.

Anonymous said...

Well since you asked. My son is not on the team, he left the right way prior. I didnt say they were not good, I said 3 of the 4 were not great so please dont put words in my mouth. Jealous? No. I do think you made the choice at the wrong time. Dont you care that you screwed a bunch of boys?

Anonymous said...

No response as suspected. Keep destroying teams!

Anonymous said...

I hope that all the boys from that team found another team to play on
but how could four players leaving be the end of a team?

Anonymous said...

Is it possible they had 15 players? Yes. Is it possible that when 4 players leave right before the season begins that others would feel like they have to look? Yes. You cant go into a season with 11 players and play the schedule that a team like Marlboro did and survive. Sounds like a bunch of selfish families to me.

Anonymous said...

Reality is that there were some players that received playtime because of who their parents were rather than what they could do on the field. I don't think it was worth breaking up a team for but that was the end result.

Anonymous said...

Unless you are directly involved, who really cares? Teams break up all of the time, and you move on. Stop focusing on others and just worry about your son.

Anonymous said...

Who said I wasnt directly impacted? Teams do break up but not in March you idiot. I guess you are one of the despicable parents who allowed their son to quit on his team and ran to a non academy team. No worries, he will never be cut because they will continue to cash your checks as you support the real PDA teams.

Anonymous said...

I was surprised to find out that all the club PDA teams pay for their free academy teams, I don't think that's fair but as long as parents go along with it, it will continue, Many parents think that their kid is playing academy soccer just because he's at PDA.

Anonymous said...

They are the suckers and once they realize it, it is too late.

Anonymous said...

I'm looking at the flights for the upcoming MSSL Showcase and I'd say they made a bit of a mess of this.

Lots of very good teams in this tournament. But how does SJEB make the top bracket when a team that beat them 3-0 in December (FC Montco) is places in the 2nd flight?

And how does a team like Revolution Utd., who drew with Yonkers this week, end up in the 3rd flight with the likes of the Den of Lions "B" team and the Jersey Utd. Spartans?

Makes no sense!

Anonymous said...

I was told that go strictly by got soccer rankings, which everyone knows are far from perfect. The more events you enter, the more pts. you get.

Anonymous said...

FC Montco: #104 Nationally and #4 in PAE

SJEB: #105 Nationally and #10 in NJ

So not even GotSoccer rankings can explain it.

Anonymous said...

Given the applied teams, I'd have found a way to put together a 12 team top flight that includes the 8 teams already there plus FC Montco, Revolution Utd., NJ Stallions and World Class.

Montco and Rev Utd. are very good teams and I'll be surprised if both don't win their flights. And Rev Utd. may run up some very big scores in the 3rd bracket.

Anonymous said...

With the NJ Got Soccer rankings pretty tight amongst the top 10, 6 of the top 10 teams will be playing in the top flight at Tuckahoe this Friday and Saturday. And if any one of them can manage to win this tournament, they'd be certain to pass by current #1 Match Fit Black (who are sitting this one out).

And EB, Parsippany and TSF could lose the final and still move up to #1.

But of course, out-of-staters FSA and Calverton have got to be the favorites in this one.

Anonymous said...

Some interesting results from the first day of the MSSL Showcase.

Looks like neither EB or Parsippany will be moving up to #1 as their results were not great. And even TSF (who drew with Calverton) would need to run the score up on EB tomorrow to get into the final after Calverton dusted them 4-0.

In the other bracket it looks like Gottschee need at least a draw against FSA tomorrow to make the final after wining two today. And the big loser in this group today wasn't SJEB (who gat a draw with FSA), but DoL who lost both of their games without scoring a goal.

Anonymous said...

So in other words, chances are good that Match Fit Black's #1 status will still be in tact come Easter morning with the two out-of-state teams battling it out in the final.

Anonymous said...

I was all over the top flight at MSSL with Calverton winning on PKs over FSA in the final.

And Montco managed to win the 2nd group as I thought, but not as easily as I thought they would.

But my "shoe in" pick of Rev. Utd. in the 3rd flight left me with egg on my face as the Den Of Lions "B" team beat them in the final.

Ah well. Two out of three ain't too bad.

Anonymous said...

Any predictions in EDP so far? Anyone know of any results?

Anonymous said...

The EDP "wild cards" this spring look to be the three new out-of-state teams (Patriot Red, Delaware Rush and FC Montco). But after 3 games from two of them, they've yet to record a win. Too soon to bury anyone yet (and Montco's yet to play), but it looks like the "usual suspect" Jersey teams will all be in the hunt for this championship.

With that said, Rooney is off to a good start with a pair of wins. Gottschee won their only match and MF Black haven't laced their boots up yet.

EB has a loss to PDA and Montco hasn't played yet.

It's still early, but it's not a long season. So my picks for the real competitors here are PDA, Gottschee, MF Black and Montco.

Anonymous said...

My understanding regarding PDA is that they've added some of the Marlboro players. They're playing Delaware Rush tonight and the result of this one could be telling.

Anonymous said...

PDA also added 4 or 5 players from their 'B' team Jinky.

Anonymous said...

If PDA added a number of players from both Marlboro and Jinky, then some of the ones who were there must have left, right?

Otherwise wouldn't they have a very big roster.

Anonymous said...

how's the NJ cup going?

Anonymous said...

What happen to EB? I heard they lost some players

Anonymous said...

NJ Cup?

There can always be surprises. But this one looks like it's shaping up as it looked when the draw first came out.

EB against either Parsippany or Gottschee in on semi and MF Black against either NJ Force or DoL in the other.

I think the EB/Parsippany/Gottschee trio is a toss up. But I'd expect the team that gets through this to play MF Black in the final.

Anonymous said...

Who do you think will win the NJ cup most likely?

Anonymous said...

Understanding that I think one of the semifinalists is a three-way "toss up," I can't say there's any one team I think is "most likely" to win it.

Which team do you think will win it?

Anonymous said...

I say who ever wins that trio will win the finals against MF. MF isn't as good as one of those trio teams.

Anonymous said...

Looks like MF won their EDP match against Delaware Rush today by a 2-0 score. So maybe they are still pretty good.

And maybe it will be Westfield and Rancocas Valley in the NJ Cup final!

Okay, I doubt that too.

Anonymous said...

Which team is playing the best soccer right now?

Anonymous said...

MF looks pretty good off their win against Delaware and Gottschee seems to have won 5 of their last 6 games

Anonymous said...

I am predicting a Matchfit and Parsippany final in NJ Cup. Matchfit has an easy way to finals. Parsippany needs to get by tough teams like Gottshee, it will be tough for them. Cant wait to see some results. Should Parsippany be ranked higher in Gotsoccer?
What do you think?

Anonymous said...

We all seem to think MF are a certainty to make the final. But I not so sure their path is THAT easy. My guess is that they'll make the semifinal easy enough. But couldn't either DoL or NJ Force could give them a game? Didn't DoL beat them in the State Cup a few years back? And NJ Force beat them 3-0 at YMS last fall.

Anonymous said...

EB lost about 5 or 6 to Phil Union Academy. Picked up a few top Marlboro players and a very good keeper from one of the Academys. Nice talent but it may take some time for them to gel from what a person familiar with the team told me at Tuckahoe last week.

Anonymous said...

Why do you think Parsippany? Didn't they lose to TSF which both EB and Gottschee beat? I say semifinals are gonna be Gottschee and EB like last year. But lot has changed for those two teams so this semifinal if both make it will be pretty close.

Anonymous said...

EB beat Gottschee by a score of 2-1 in last year's semifinal. So that sounds like it was pretty close to me.

And regarding results at the recent MSSL tournament, I wouldn't put too much stake in them. The wind on Saturday was about 50 MPH and none of the soccer I saw looked particularly good as a result.

Anonymous said...

True but Parsippany played on Friday against TSF without the wind.

Anonymous said...

You're right. But Friday featured the steady rain that, after falling for hours, left the fields treacherously slippery. I saw players sliding all over the place.

Don't get me wrong. I love tournaments. But these are short games with teams usually playing twice each day. So when you throw lousy weather on top of that, I'm not sure the MSSL results are a great barometer.

Anonymous said...

Deptford over SJEB last night. So they move into the quarterfinals to face the MF Black/Rancocas Valley winner.

NJ Force is already in the quarters and will take on the DoL/Berkeley winner.

Parsippany looks to book their spot in the quarters tonight against Jersey United.

Anonymous said...

Here's the remaining Round 3 schedule:

15-Apr: Jersey United/Parsippany
16-Apr: Vistula/Gottschee
17-Apr: DoL Galaxy/ EB
18-Apr: MF Black/Rancocas Valley
19-Apr: Westfield/Maximus
20-Apr: DoL Mustangs/Berkeley

Anonymous said...

5 or 6 to philly union? That makes no sense. Does Philly Union take just about anyone.

Anonymous said...

You can't really predict anything based on scores from last year. Same with the MSSL tournament because of the the terrible conditions. Also most of these teams have changed, for better or worse and it could be a toss up for the final spot. But if Parsippany beats Goetschee well they should have a good chance with EB and Match Fit

Anonymous said...

EB took Marlboro players. One player they took is a C level player, one is A level.

Anonymous said...

Parsippany has beaten Jersey Utd. to join NJ Force and Deptford in the quarterfinals.

Vistula hosts Gottschee tomorrow night.

Anonymous said...

I wonder why TSF and PDA Rooney didn't enter the State Cup.

Anonymous said...

Good question. PDA Rooney might have done very well.

Anonymous said...

Both EB and MF are the real beneficiaries of TSF and PDA passing on this tournament.

Based on the bracket set up, it looks like the seeding was...
1: EB
2: MF
3: NJ Force
4: Parsippany
5: Gottschee
6: DoL
7: SJEB
8: Morris Utd.

I assume returning champ EB was seeded 1st because the 1st round byes indicate Parsippany and Gottschee were seeded 4th and 5th.

The inclusion of SJEB and Morris Utd. in this top 8 resulted in very clear paths to the semis for EB and MF.

I think this would have been a lot tougher for both of them had TSF and PDA entered.

Anonymous said...

parsippany vs goetschee quarter final?? who's going to face EB

Anonymous said...

Can anyone confirm if Gottschee won last night? No result posted on the web site yet.

Anyway, if they did win that should be a great game against Parsippany.

I said above that I thought the Parsippany, Gottschee, EB trio was a toss up and feel no differently now. I just hope which ever one survives it goes on to win the final.

thoughts on nj cup quarter finals?

Anonymous said...

NJ Cup looks to be progressing as expected, even if some of the scores have been closer than one might have thought.

EB has gotten past the DoL Galaxy and will face the winner of tomorrow's Westfield/Maximus match in one quarterfinal.

Gottschee has gotten past Vistula and will meet Parsippany in a second quarter.

MF Black rolled over Rancocus Valley and will play Deptford in the quarters.

And NJ Force is still waited Monday's result between DoL and Berkeley to see who they'll face in the final quarter.

Anonymous said...

Went to watch a little of the MF/EB game yesterday and was not dissapointed. A 1-0 MF win. Well played with most of the possession and opportunities going to EB but MF would not break. MF goal was a misplay on an over the top ball by the EB center back and the keeper not coming out. EB best chances were a chip over the MF keeper which was cleared by a defender off the line. And another when the MF keeper came off his line to make a great save. If these two teams meet in the state cup final it will be a good one.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the report! Great to hear what sound like accurate and unbiased reactions to games.

EB will get Westfield (who beat Maximus) in the State Cup quarter final. They'll need to earn plenty of points in the Cup as they're EDP League results to this point have not been great, dropping 6 points in their first 3 matches.

Anonymous said...

As far as the EDP League goes, points dropped may be the best way to look at this one right now with most teams having played three games but one still yet to play.

The only teams not to have dropped points are Gottschee (2 wins) and Montco (who haven't played yet).

Amongst those who have played 3, Rooney and MF have dropped only 2 points and TSF have dropped 3.

As mentioned above, EB has dropped 6 and may already be out of the running here. The same can be said for Patriot Red and Delaware Rush who've dropped 7 and 8 respectively.

It's still early and almost anything can happen. But this one is looking like a battle between Gottschee, Rooney and MF. And maybe even TSF or Montco (if they ever start playing).

Anonymous said...

what a shame that in NJYS state cup three of the top NJ teams (MF, EB, Rooney, NJ Force) will be out by first two rounds. Who comes up with such a draw?

Anonymous said...

"what a shame that in NJYS state cup..."

http://events.gotsport.com/events/results.aspx?EventID=44066&Gender=Boys&Age=15

I wasn't even aware of this tournament. But it goes a long way towards explaining why TSF and Rooney passed on the NJ Cup.

One would have to think the draw was either a randomly selected fluke or there was a clear intention of getting some lower ranked teams into the semi-finals.

With 16 teams, GS will award quarter final-points. But either EB or NJ Force and either Rooney or MF will be eliminated before then. And on the top of the bracket, TSF and DoL will meet in the quarters (assumeing DoL beats Rancocas Valley).

So one of the following is assured at least quarter-final points:
Mainland
PDA Jinky
Princeton Spurs
Morris Utd.
Jersey Utd.
Ironbound
FC Copa
Logan Blackjacks

No wonder I hadn't even heard of this tournament. It stinks!

Anonymous said...

"So one of the following is assured at least quarter-final points:"

I got that wrong. At least 2 of those teams are guaranteed SEMI-FINAL points.

It stinks even worse!

Anonymous said...

You never heard of this tournament? Really?

Anonymous said...

Not in the spring.

Anonymous said...

And not with just 16 teams in the "top" bracket.

Have I got this wrong? Hasn't the NJYS State Cup always been in the fall and included all entered teams in the same bracket?

Anonymous said...

No idea, but it sure looks like PDA got this one wrong!
Rooney should have been in the NJ Cup.

Anonymous said...

With US Club running the NJ Cup and NJYS behind this tournament, might there have been some politics involved for PDA?

Anonymous said...

Anyway, the winners here are the 8 clubs list above and the two who make the semis will get about 1,000 points more than they would have by winning a tournament that included just the 8 of them.

The losers are the two top teams who go out without getting anything and the third that is eliminated in the quarters.

Anonymous said...

Why isn't Gottschee and Parsippany in the NJYS? Yet bad teams got into it?

Anonymous said...

How many points is this NJYS tournament compared to NJ Cup?

Anonymous said...

Guessing on the GS values here, but I'd say the NJ Cup will be about 8,500 and the NJYS will be about 1,000 points less.

As far as Gottschee and Parsippany go, I'd say the same question that was posed about TSF and Rooney skipping the NJ Cup applies to them here.

The only good reason I can think of for any of these four teams to have entered only one of these two of these tournaments would be scheduling concerns. But I'm still not sure I'd buy that.

Ya got to be in it to win it!

Anonymous said...

At least Gottschee and Parsippany can to condolence in that only 1 or 2 of their competitors for NJ #1 will benefit from making the semis or winning the NJYS tournament. Rooney and TSF are likely to see at least 4 teams get further in front of them with NJ Cup points.

Anonymous said...

I see Rooney making a real comeback in terms of ranking. However, I think they'd be in for their money against the current top 3 of Parsippany, EB, and MF.

Anonymous said...

The NJ Cup quarters are now set with DoL's win over Berkeley in the books.

EB vs. Westfield
Parsippany vs. Gattschee

MF vs. Deptford
NJ Force vs. DoL

Anonymous said...

Meanwhile, Delco is coming up next month. The Accepted Team list has been posted but the preliminary flights (which were supposed to be posted last week) still haven't appeared.

Here's my best guess on what I'm guessing will be a 12 team top flight:

BRYC
East Brunswick Soccer Club
FC Gottschee
FC Montco
Fewster F.C.
FSA FC
Match Fit Academy FC
NJ Stallions Academy
Northern Steel
Parsippany SC
Penn Fusion SA
Yonkers United

Should be another good one!

Anonymous said...

Predictions

DOL VS NJ Force Arsenal ----- Dol
Matchfit vs Deptford--------MF

Parsippany vs Gottschee------ Gottschee
EB vs Westfield ------------ EB

Semifinals - Gottschee vs EB like last year
Dol vs MF

Anonymous said...

EB and MF seem likely to advance. That does mean their definitely through, but just that it would be a surprise if Westfield or Deptford get wins.

The other two should be tight games. Can't say I have a strong feeling about a winner in either of them. But I'll take a stab at Gottschee and NJ Force.

Should be good from here on in and I'm going to try to get to at least 2 of the quarters.

Anonymous said...

You find out that a player is probably not age eligible. Do you mind your own business and move on? or do you report it somewhere?

Anonymous said...

"You find out that a player is probably not age eligible..."

I'd say that's a question one needs to answer for themselves. I know what I would do.

But I'd also want to be VERY sure I was right about this and consider the need for indisputable proof before doing anything. "Probably" is probably not good enough and most times it's the whistle-blowers in these cases who turn out to be the bad guys.

Also, assuming a player has been carded by US Club or NJYS, my experience is that any protests about their eligibility will fall on deaf ears as it serves not only as an indictment of the player and club, but of the carding organization as well.

Anyway, good luck!

Anonymous said...

"Here's my best guess on what I'm guessing will be a 12 team top flight:"

I was wrong about this as there were teams on the accepted list I must have managed to miss.

The preliminary groups for top flight at Delco (`6 teams in total) are as follows:

Group A
BRYC 99 ELITE (VA)
PHILADELPHIA SC COPPA 99 (PAE)
EAST BRUNSWICK UNITED FC (NJ)
LDC UNITED CRUSHERS 99-00 (PAE)

Group B
MATCH FIT ACADEMY FC 99/00 BLACK (NJ)
RAGE SC '99 RED DEVILS (PAE)
FSA FC U15 BOYS ELITE 99 (CT)
FC REVOLUTION BLAUGRANA (PAE)

Group C
FEWSTER F.C. (MD)
FC MONTCO DIE MANNSCHAFT (PAE)
LOGAN SC BLACKJACKS (NJ)
FC GOTTSCHEE ROMA '99 (NJ)

Group D
PARSIPPANY SC CREW (NJ)
NORTHERN STEEL BAYERN (PAW)
YONKERS UNITED GOLDEN TOUCH UNITED (NYE)
PENN FUSION SA '99B ELITE (PAE)

I'd say these look like pretty good groups so kudos to Delco.

Stallions got the 2nd flight and I think they may do well there.

Anonymous said...

"(`6 teams in total)"

Sorry for the typo. 16 teams in total.

Anonymous said...

Seeing some bold State Cup predictions here..

Anonymous said...

"Bold?" Really?

I see one set of predictions that includes a repeat of one of last year's semis and the current #1 team against the current #6 in the other.

And I see a second set of predictions saying the top 2 ranked teams a "likely" to get through and taking "stabs" at the other two games.

You call these "bold?"

I'd say picking Westfield over Deptford would be a BOLD prediction.

Anonymous said...

I think MF and EB definitely going through. Meanwhile, DOL vs Force and Parsippany vs Gottschee could be pretty tight but I have NJ Force and Parsippany to face MF and EB respectively.

Anonymous said...

EB over Parsippany
MF over Den of Lions

EB repeats as Champs.

Anonymous said...

How is it that Match Fit has gotten all home games in the NJ Cup?

Not only have they been given an easy path here, but they haven't even had to put gas in the car.

Anonymous said...

yes, "BOLD" predictions indeed.

Anonymous said...

East Brunswick over parsippany? I think gotcshee vs parsippany will be a closer match. Parsippany also recently beat EB at MSSL showcase

Anonymous said...

How will the NJ teams do in Delco? Some challenging groups

Anonymous said...

Parsippany has the easiest bracket out of all the NJ teams

Anonymous said...

Penn Fusion is an easy group? Parsippany is a good team and should make it through but theres no way that's the easiest bracket. Especially compared to Match Fits group or East Brunswick, who both seem to be the best in their respective brackets.

Anonymous said...

I think you're both wrong.

First off, Parsippany is in the "Group of Death" as far as I can see. Group A (Philly Copa), Group B (Rage and Blaugrania) and Group C (Logan) all have 2nd tier teams that have never made the top flight in a big tournament before.

But Group D's lowest ranked team (Northern Steel) is pretty darn good and could definitely beat Parsippany. Yonkers can be hit and miss these days but is still formidable. Penn Fusion is easily the best team in this group. I think Parsippany will have to play really well just to avoid two losses in this group.

But I'm not trying to pick on just Parsippany, as I don't see much chance of ANY of the Jersey teams getting out of their groups.

Do you really think EB will get past both BRYC and LDC? I don't.

Do you think MF can get past FSA? I can't see that happening.

And Fewster wil take care of Gottschee even if they can beat Montco.

So, no, I don't see any of the Jersey teams making the semi-finals here. And while I hoping I'm wrong about this, I'm pretty confident that I'm right.

A) BRYC
B) FSA
C) Fewster
D) Penn Fusion

Anonymous said...

All of you may be right but remember this is a sport of who wants it more. All these good teams will have close games coming down to who makes a mistake. Any game can go anyway. Anyone agree?

Anonymous said...

I'm not saying the Jersey teams couldn't possibly beat teams like BYRC, FSA, Fewster and Penn Fusion. But I think that if they each played these teams 5 times, they'd all lose 3 or 4 of them. And yes, by only a goal or two in most cases.

Anonymous said...

You're wrong. BRYC hasn't won a game all spring. EB will win that group.

Anonymous said...

I've just learned that Gotschee has been disqualified for using older player/s vs. Stallions in PK win. This now puts the Stallions against Vistula with a game that needs to be played soon so the winner can face Parsippany. Must have been egregious on Gotschees part in order for this shocking reversal.

Anonymous said...

State cup quarter finals...
EB vs Westfield --- EB
Parsippany vs Vistula/Stallions --- Parsippany
Match Fit vs Deptford --- Match Fit
DoL vs NJ Force --- DoL

Semi Finals...
Parsippany vs EB --- Parsippany
DoL vs Match Fit --- Match Fit

Finals - Parsippany vs Match Fit
Would make an interesting game

Anonymous said...

If Gottschee really has been disqualified then it looks like the poster who was asking about what to do in case like this had very good evidence. Good for them!

Anonymous said...

It definitely appears to be true. I just checked the NJ Cup bracket and Gottschee is gone.

Vistula vs. Stallions to see who gets Parsippany.

Amazing!

Anonymous said...

Gottschee has been using older players for a long time now, just that many people didn't know about it and the ones who did never reported it!

Anonymous said...

11:39 poster....Do you also believe that Gottschee has been using older players in EDP League game, tournaments, etc? If so then those results should be thrown out as well.

Anonymous said...

5:39 poster... Yes I believe that Gottschee has been using older players in EDP, tournaments and other competitions... And I also believe that they should be disqualified from all competitions as they are not playing fair!

Anonymous said...

From what I've heard, there has been only one Gottschee player (not players) who has been determined to have been ineligible. Apparently this player represented himself as eligible to Gottschee and provided documentation that supported his claim.

However, additional documentation from another source has now revealed that the player misrepresented himself to the club. So Gottschee has been knocked out of the NJ Cup as a result which is the only fair to deal with this.

Regarding other competitions, I would think Gottschee should also be forced to forfeit any previous matches that this player took part in.

Too bad for the rest of the players on that team.

Anonymous said...

Interesting.
Then what about the other teams who also use older players?
There's certainly some players out there who look years older than their age bracket.
Should the leagues have a look at those too, or will it depend on whistleblowers such as this?

I couldn't say how many (if any) other clubs have ineligible players. I hope it's none. I think we all hope both our own clubs and our competitors have this under control. But if a player misrepresents himself, there may be some clubs who roster ineligible players and don't even know it.

The only way I can see for a situation like this to be discovered and corrected is by someone who has both indisputable evidence and the motivation to lodge a complaint. And I don't think this happens very often.

So if there are other ineligible players, I'd would think the vast majority of them will probably get away with it.

"I couldn't say how many (if any) other clubs have ineligible players. I hope it's none."

I think we all hope this, but we all know that they're out there.
and there must have been complaints lodged before by others, just that nothing came out of it.
this is the first time I've heard of anybody lodging complaints and 'winning', so to speak. They must have had very strong motivatiion - or the ears of the league officials - (o; it's curious how they got indisputable evidence to present.

"Only one gottschee player (not players)" Time will tell........

"What difference does it make..." HRC

Isn't this where we are all headed?

Anonymous said...

Didn't one state cup begin today? How' are the results there

Anonymous said...

I hear PDA Rooney won over MF 1-0.

Anonymous said...

Princeton over STA 3-0
TSF over Winslow 3-0
EB over NJ Force 6-1

Anonymous said...

so this year's njys state cup semis will be most lopsided.

State Cup Predictions:
EB vs Westfield: EB
Parisppany vs Stallions (win over vistula): Parsippany
Matchfit vs Deptford: MF
DOL vs NJ FORCE: NJ force

Semis:
Parsippany vs EB: Parsippany
NJ Force vs Match Fit: NJ FORCE (upset)

Finals: PArsippany vs NJ FORCE: parisppany (you don't upset two quality teams)

Anonymous said...

If that 6-1 loss to EB is right, hard to understand anyone being bullish on NJ Force right now.

Anonymous said...

No way that is true. If he was officially carded, that is all they would have looked at. No other evidence would have been allowed.

Anonymous said...

2:08...Please explain further. No way what is true? My belief is that unless a family goes to great lengths to fudge a birth certificate (although I can't even remember any club ever asking for proof of age from me)., then the club would have known. Maybe clubs need to do more due diligence but the truth is after a brief period of time all the kids know everything about each other, i.e. what school, grade, girlfriends...

Anonymous said...

The appeal would have ended once they saw he was properly carded. He was properly carded, right?

Anonymous said...

7:06....
What do you mean will be most lopsided for the njys?

Anonymous said...

The best teams are on one side of the bracket

Anonymous said...

Assuming things progress in the NJYS State Cup as one would expect, the final shouldn't be THAT bad of a matchup. Should be either EB or Rooney against either TSF or DOL. No, not a great final. But not THAT bad considering how poorly this one was seeded.

In weekend EDP results, Montco finally started their league schedule with a couple of wins over EDP and Stallions while Gottschee lost to Patriot Red.

So the "Points Dropped" standings now look like this:

1 FC MONTCO DIE MANNSCHAFT   : 0
2 PDA ROONEY   : 2
3 MATCH FIT ACADEMY FC BLACK   : 2
4 FC GOTTSCHEE ROMA '99   : 3
5 TSF ACADEMY 99/00B   : 6
6 IRONBOUND SC NAVIGATORS   : 6
7 PATRIOT FC RED   : 7
8 DELAWARE RUSH SC 99 BOYS   : 8
9 EAST BRUNSWICK UNITED FC   : 9
10 NJ STALLIONS ACADEMY MADRID   : 11

With 3 losses, EB has no chance to win this league (although they could still win both State Championships)

My original contender picks of Montco, Rooney, MF and Gottschee (assuming they aren't disqualified) are looking good.

Gottschee HAS to be dq'd. no questions

Anonymous said...

Who did PDA and Matchfit "drop points" to?

Anonymous said...

First off, the info I’ve heard on all of this is 3rd hand at best. So I can’t claim any of it is true. But I’ll pass it on here for whatever it may be worth.

“He was properly carded, right?"
Based on the above, I understand this was the Club’s belief.

“…unless a family goes to great lengths to fudge a birth certificate…”
This is my understanding of what happened. So when a different version of the same birth cert (with a different birth year) surfaced, it was determined that the player was over age.

“Gottschee HAS to be dq'd. no questions”
Assuming the same player appeared in EDP games, I would think so. But I don’t know if this is true or not and, as the NJ Cup has already acted, I’m not sure EDP feels the same need.

"Who did PDA and Matchfit "drop points" to?"

Dropping points means failing to win and get a full 3 points. So both PDA and MF each dropped 2 points when they drew with Rush and Patriot Red respectively (and earned only 1).

Looking at standings from this perspective can be useful when there's a wide variation in the number of games played amongst teams as is the case now in EDP. For example, both Montco and EB each have 6 points right now. But EB has already lost 3 times and Montco has won all their matches. So I'd say a table that shows Montco well ahead of EB is a more accurate way to see what's happened.

Anonymous said...

seems East Brunswick has really been falling out of it. Can they still perform in state cup

Anonymous said...

EDP will. If he played, and that is very easy to prove, they will disqualify the matches. If they dont, it will lead to everyone else cheating. Move to the Champions league, where all teams cheat because no one knows anyone.

I don't quite understand all these bold predictions that Parsipanny will win state cup. They are a solid team but I don't know if they have the talent to win the whole thing. Always have struggled against Stallions, winning on penalties twice, and are yet to beat any of the "big boys" such as MF or PDA Rooney. Should be interesting.

Anonymous said...

Well what do people say the chances are for the likes of Parsippany, MF, and EB to win it? Parsippany beat EB before but if it comes down to it both could find it difficult against MF

Anonymous said...

EB lost to Parsipanny in a close match at the MSSL showcase 1-0. This was not a normal 90 minute game, so a bit more time and it could have gone either way. EB also beat Parsipanny and MF (then Princeton Black) in last year's state cup, so anything is possible.

All three teams are evenly matched and can beat each other on any given day.

So it will be interesting no matter who wins.

Anonymous said...

I think any one of the 4 or 5 top teams in NJ right now could all beat each other at any time. It hasn't always been that way so this is an exciting time for this age group. At least within the state.

Anonymous said...

I agree that most of the top NJ teams could beat one another on any given day. However, a 6-1 defeat for NJ Force to EB might set them a bit apart from the top 3 of Parsippany, EB, and MF. EB has recently lost to both Parsippany and MF but with close games, which could go either way during a competition like state cup. I say Parsippany will find a spot in the finals with Match Fit, which will mostly likely finish with a one goal advantage or even penalties to decide.

Anonymous said...

I saw Stallions play TSF (in what ended up just being a scrimmage due to refs not showing up) and I can see them beating Parsipanny. Not in great form but have played well in a few games. Also, I have heard many EB players/parents are frustrated. Wouldn't be surprised to see another mass exodus.

Anonymous said...

EB players/parents frustrated?

Why? Because they're off to a slow start?

That team is rebuilding after losing three starters to the Philadelphia Union. They will remain a competitive team as long as they continue to attract quality players.

Besides, whose to say they don't get their Union players back.

Anonymous said...

The problem is that the players they brought in are not that good, except one.

Anonymous said...

EB also just lost one of their fastest, most physical players to injury for rest of state cups, from what I hear.

Anonymous said...

EDP league table is becoming interesting with PDA Rooney losing to Patriots Red.

Anonymous said...

EB lost their fastest, most physical player?

Didn't think EB was a physical team. They move the ball quickly and have speed from their smaller players. If it is the player who went down over the weekend in the NJ Force game they seemed to be fine in terms of speed and movement in the 6-1 win.

Anonymous said...

Probably a fair statement, though they have a couple players that definitely ramp up the physicality of their play. I hear this kid got hurt in training, he was the one that played up top in the Matchfit game, if you saw that one.

Anonymous said...

Did not see MF game. And agreed on a small amount of physicality from a couple of their defensive players.

But if EB played the same player up top then that is a mistake in and of itself. The player is certainly more suited for defense from what I have seen in past games.

Anonymous said...

Stallions to play Parsippany in quarter finals after 4-3 win over Vistula.

I still see Parsippany going through and then beating EB in semis, while MF will find their way to the finals a little easier.

Anonymous said...

Defense? Better suited for manager.
You heard he got hurt in training? Thanks for the info EB keeper dad.

Anonymous said...

LMAO!!!

Anonymous said...

ROTFLMAO!!
One of a kind he is!

Anonymous said...

better suited for manager?

now we are belittling players?

try to keep it civil please

Anonymous said...

Gotschee getting disqualified? will their players leave

Anonymous said...

That was civil

Anonymous said...

Perhaps civil was the incorrect word used by previous poster. It should have been without cowardice. Because that is exactly what it was coming from an assumed adult who slams a child.

Be an adult and let us know who you are since you have much to say about a child and hide behind anominity. There is no need for this on blog.

DOL beat Force Arsenal 4-3 pks

Anonymous said...

Dol and Force was a very close match with both teams having opportunities and not finishing. The field was in conditions to play a quaterfinal game with many holes and bumps messing up both teams.

Here's an update to the EDP "Points Dropped" Standings (with games played in parenthesis) including Rooney's win over Montco.

1 MATCH FIT ACADEMY FC BLACK   : 2 ( 3 )
2 FC MONTCO DIE MANNSCHAFT   : 3 ( 3 )
3 FC GOTTSCHEE ROMA '99   : 3 ( 3 )
4 PDA ROONEY   : 5 ( 5 )
5 TSF ACADEMY 99/00B   : 6 ( 4 )
6 PATRIOT FC RED   : 7 ( 6 )
7 DELAWARE RUSH SC 99 BOYS   : 8 ( 3 )
8 EAST BRUNSWICK UNITED FC   : 9 ( 5 )
9 IRONBOUND SC NAVIGATORS   : 9 ( 3 )
10 NJ STALLIONS ACADEMY MADRID   : 11 ( 5 )

The ref called everything for TSF reffing one way.

Be pretty ironic if these were from the same poster.

Haven't the boys grown old enough for us to stop blaming losses on one-sided refs?
