This is true. The rare player is going to be pro but soccer is a great way to learn life lessons.

Calling all aspiring soccer pros! Major League Soccer is searching for the best undiscovered young talent in the U.S. Just register for one of our three upcoming Sueño MLS tryouts (listed below), and get ready to show your stuff to our professional players, coaches and scouts. But hurry! Each city has only 400 available spots.
Now celebrating its eighth year, Sueño MLS 2014 presented by Allstate is a national competition, hosted locally in coordination with three MLS Clubs, to identify the best undiscovered, amateur soccer player in the United States. The program, which is a free, open tryout, will culminate in a six-day “National Final” at The Stubhub Center, in Carson, CA. Up to 400 tryout spots will be made available in each host city on a first come, first serve basis. A waiting list will be available for those who are not able to register for the initial spots.
In each city, players will be battling for one of five outfield player invitations to a week-long trial with their respective youth development academy host Club and an invitation to the exciting “National Final”. The Finals will include training sessions, scrimmages, guest celebrity scouts, and an opportunity to meet some of the League’s biggest stars. For the fourth year, Sueño MLS will also feature an award for the best Goalkeeper in each city who will compete for the Allstate “Good Hands®” top goalkeeper award - El Portero Allstate de Sueño MLS. The ultimate champion will be crowned on live on Univision’s “República Deportiva”.
Eligibility
Eligible players must be males between the ages of 14 and 17 years old (born between dates of January 1, 1997 and April 18, 2000) with appropriate identification and retain their amateur status. As a program dedicated to identifying the best undiscovered youth talent in MLS markets, all participants must not be or ever have been a part of an MLS academy system to be eligible.

About 70 to 80 kids at PDA 2000/2001 tryouts. Half from PDA itself. A few kids from top club teams Princeton Black, EB, Parsipanny, etc.... One more round next week and then DA kids can try out after season is over in June.....

Red Bulls 99 Academy Team is the best. End of story.

Anonymous said...

"Red Bulls 99 Academy Team is the best. End of story."

No argument from me except to say that this is a very short story.

Competition in EDP Central is looking good. With 2 losses, NJ's current #1 (Princeton Black) looks to be out of the race. The three remaining undefeated teams are Marlboro, EB and Gottschee and it seems safe to assume one of them will win this league.

Anonymous said...

EB beat Marlboro today in EDP play today. So they look to be in the driver's seat to win this league to me. But there's still plenty of games to play and they still have to travel to Princeton.

And the NJ Cup semis are now set with Princeton Black taking on TSF in one semi and EB against Gottschee in the other.

Something tells me Marlboro would be playing next weekend in Mercer County Park had they been placed in the TSF bracket. Seems dumb to seed the tournament with two of the top 4 teams in the same bracket.

Anonymous said...

It's not my intention to cause controversy. So I'll post this only because it's a fact:

Princeton Black has a lot of talented players. Yet they have a disturbingly violent nature to their play. Opposing players are consistently injured when playing this team and it's no fluke. Please don't confuse this with playing hard. Dirty is dirty no matter how hard one may try to justify it.

Play soccer Princeton Black! Leave the ugliness that seems to be so essential to your approach behind You guys are too good to play like thugs! So stop it!

I could pick out one offender in particular, but everyone who has seen this team play knows who he is.

Wake Up Coach! Teach your boys to play soccer properly!

Anonymous said...

And in the unlikely event that any referees read this silly board:

Please stop thinking that their still little boys. They aren't anymore and are quite capable or injuring each other seriously. So they need to be policed a lot better.

Anonymous said...

" ....Something tells me Marlboro would be playing next weekend in Mercer County Park had they been placed in the TSF bracket. Seems dumb to seed the tournament with two of the top 4 teams in the same bracket. "

Don't understand this?
How woudl you seed and place the top 4 teams in two brackets?
Team 1 in one bracket, and the other three teams in the other bracket?

Anonymous said...

Marlboro, if you won you would be there. It is that simple. Other age groups have the same arguments and complaints. Win the game, don't worry about it.

Simple.

Anonymous said...

I completely agree with previous comment about Princeton Black, seen too many players getting hurt and refs won't do anything, a foul from behind is a card, period! Start setting precedent from the beginning of the game and these kids won't want to keep hurting players, soccer is a beautiful game, it is a shame that some teams make it look so ugly.

Anonymous said...

I haven't played Princeton since they were upper make field patriots or the "b" team of Pennsylvania red but they had one kid who was dirty and the rest if the team was quality. Maybe 4 or 5 acadamy players. Maybe they got new dirty players

Anonymous said...

It's the idiot Princeton Black coach who teaches them to play this way. I personally heard their coach telling players to take out players to get the upper hand and put fear into the opponent. I happened to be walking by them at a tournament when I heard this brutal instruction from their coach. They actually have two or three dirty players who consistently get away with murder! I agree with the previous poster.......stop it and play soccer!

Anonymous said...

That is crazy, unless and until referees stop paying attention at what the parents scream from the sidelines and be more concern with what goes on in the game, these type of behavior are going to keep happening, giving a red card to a parent for screaming and not one to a player for intentionally sending a kid to the ER is ridiculous. Start taking soccer seriously and let's do it how is done around the world.

Any comments or opinions about nj state cup semi final and finals. I would like to hear serious comments please. All the teams are very good. Who do you guys think are taking it

Anonymous said...

Gottsche just recently beat Princeton 2-0 in a very one-sided match where Princeton only had to shots the whole game and neither of them being on target. Gottschee have come back from Dallas very strong‚ and show great movement of the ball. For all the people that are going to say that I'm favoring gottschee‚ I have no affiliation to the club because my son plays for another club! Just like the way that they play and wish that our team would play like that

Anonymous said...

EB wins 2-1 over Gotschee Roma.

Tough battle between EB and Gotschee. Both teams are equally matched with similar styles. EB played with 10 men for 75% of the game due to some silly referee antics.

Let's see if Princeton actually plays soccer tomorrow.........instead of going out to hack legs!!!

Anonymous said...

Ref in EB game should have his license revoked. He showed NO knowledge of the game and less of the moment. Embarrassing it was

Anonymous said...

EB and Roma are very similar with their style and blah blah blah-

How can you say such a comment when straight after you say EB played almost an entire game down a man and still won? You are clueless

Roma- you are average. Always were, you have two talented players and a team who is carried by them.

You barley scraped by vs Barons. A poor Gunners and poor TSF team beat them 5-0 and 4-0. You barely won.

You get accepted to dallas cup and show one class game vs a team that didn't win any game. Kudos-

Get a brain. Your team even with 8 brand new players from last year, still can't manage to get to state finals.

You lost vs 10 men but yet you are ranked top in the region.

Geez- I needed this laugh.

Anonymous said...

Geez, Barley Blah Blah - you still jealous of Roma? What happened? They beat your team up? Or your son's team couldn't even get to state cup play, or invited to any notable tournament after all these years you playing?
or is this an EB parent crowing with puffed chest?

Maybe it is you who doesn't know the game.
Typical parent living their dream through the son ....
Yeah, I needed this laugh too.

Yes, agree that EB and Roma are equally matched. EB was the better team today, and maybe Roma will be the better team the next time. There were some ref calls that could have gone either way. Didn't really see silly ref antics - or maybe that was his answer to silly player antics. Now, if he went after some parents silly antics, then it would have been silly all around, and everything would be fine!

This is shaping up to be a good EB-Roma rivalry! Good for soccer, no?

Anonymous said...

"...you have two talented players..."

I love stuff like this!

The idea that there's still at least one parent out there who thinks his kid is still in the U8 age group is rich!

Anonymous said...

Two good players?? This is funny because Roma has a quality and organized back four while the power and tactical knowledge of their midfield and strkikers is one of the strongest out there. Sad to see someone so ignorant and clueless that can't recognize this.

Anonymous said...

The rivalry between EB and Roma is a respectful one as seen by the way the boys interact with each other before and after a match. They respect each other and actually go out to play soccer, not kill each other for the sake hurting each other's players. Yesterday EB was the better team, but this does not mean they will be in future matches.

It's nice to have a healthy rivalry between two quality teams who play with all their hearts to win.

Anonymous said...

EB wins NJ State Cup finals over Princeton Black 2-0!

Congrats to a hard fought win!

Anonymous said...

I will say it again. NJ Cup hired some of the worst refs ever to step onto a field. Did you get a discounted rate?

Anonymous said...

Edp cup scedueal came out but it is messed up. Nj- eb in top bracket-okay but second bracket- Marlboro and tsf??? How does tsf get in second bracket but Sjeb/den of lions/ gunners/ ironbiund not get in. 3rd bracket- south jersey and den of lions. South jersey has an easy side but it will be tough for den of lions. Fourth bracket- gunners, maybe should be 3- they got to finals in fall but still an average team. Fifth- Princeton orange and Vistula/ okay teams maybe a final matchup. Here is the weird one- 6th bracket royal- ironbound. They may be overrated in edp but how is it possible to be in the sixth bracket. Poor ironbound plays teams like Montgomery travelers, PDA jinky (c team for PDA) Fsa white (b team of fsa) and fc somets galaxy- ironbound is better than this whether u like it or not- this is a team that beat gunners, beat den of lions, beat Vistula and beat PDA Rooney. How are they in the royal or premier championship blue division.
Overall rating eb-8/10 Marlboro 9/10 tsf 3/10 Vistula 4/10 sjeb 7/10 den of lions 8/10 gunners 6/10 ironbiund 2/10 - this is not how good they are compared to teams- it's how evenly they match up. Nobody wants to watch ironbound murder teams but nobody wants to watch tsf get embarrased. Maybe this will get chaned but if it doesn't, I will be kinda disappointed.

Anonymous said...

The comment above is pretty accurate but I don't get why brackets 1,2,3,4 have 8-9 start times on sumdayfor the games but brackets 5,6,7 have games starting at 12.

Anonymous said...

The comment above about Ironbound is inaccurate. PDA Rooney beat Ironbound 1-0 and that 'c' team PDA Jinky beat them 5-0!

Anonymous said...

Maybe PDA Rooney should be the new "c" team then.

Anonymous said...

The comment on ironbound is inaccurate because they lost to both PDA teams and den of lions

Anonymous said...

Like it or not, TSF was just a semi-finalist in the NJ Cup. So I would think that had a lot to do with their flighting.

I'm not saying one couldn't make a good argument that they were in a weak bracket in the NJ Cup, but they were semi-finalists regardless.

Anonymous said...

And regarding the EB/Roma comments above, I agree that these two teams play pretty darn good soccer against each other.

Easily the most entertaining matchup between NJ Club teams of this age.

Anonymous said...

I think tsf is average. They used to be good but not anymore. The sad thing for tsf is, every other age group has a top 50 team in country. They should be 100-150th. They've lost to all the good teams eb/ Roma/ Princeton/ patriot red but they also have lost to really average teams. 2-0 defeat to Vistula. Loss to gunners, Danubia Celtic, mount olive, manhattan villa, western pioneers, Morris united and priceyon orange. The team has strengths. Super y league, great coaches, 2 or 3 kids arguably acadamy but the team always has easy brackets and still has managed to get a 33% win pct. I still have not seen them beat/ play at same level of a top team in nj. Currently unless you are in the top 5 of nj, you are not competing. Maybe excludes Parsipsnny or stallions. Overall on 6-7 good teams in nj not including acadamies.

Anonymous said...

Ironbound forfeits the match against gottschee in advance. Maybe they are. Trying to avoid another 10-0 massacre??

Anonymous said...

That's why they are in the sixth bracket of edp cup

Anonymous said...

I don't think Ironbound forfeited against Gottschee. That was the same day that Gottschee was playing State Cup semifinal, so most probably they had to reschedule.

Looks like Ironbound is still trying to find what clicks for them on the field, after the big change of old and new players last year. I'm sure they'll be back in the top levels after they find out what works for them. but yeah, they better find it soon, if they want to continue in the competitive field play.

Anonymous said...

Does anyone know what happened to the Haddonfield Black Dawgs. I have not see anything about them this season?

Anonymous said...

Who cares?

Anonymous said...

The Black Puppies broke up......could not take the beating by other quality teams.

So when you can't beat them, join them.

Their only best player went to Princeton Black.

Not much of an impact there though.

Anonymous said...

How about those Den of Lions?

Can they now say it wasn't luck or a fluke that they won state champs last year?

What a joke!

Anonymous said...

Den of Lions are the ones laughing. They beat all of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

lol yeah but where are you now?

Anonymous said...

Den of lions should have lost to BOTH stallions teams along with the fact that they play dirty and even there coach is dirty. They are the reason that nobody wants to play soccer in america.

Anonymous said...

"...they better find it soon, if they want to continue in the competitive field play."

Make no mistake about it. A 2-0 score has been posted as the result of the Roma/Ironbound EDP League match so this one has not been rescheduled due to the NJ Cup. Ironbound chose to forfeit this match, making a clear statement that they have no interest in a "competitive field of play."

Had they a sincere interest in competing they'd have gone and played the game! Sorry, but this is an embarrassingly sad moment for a club with an otherwise great history.

Anonymous said...

Word in the wind is that there could be some big changes at Princeton Black in the fall. The rumor mill is whispering about the Philadelphia Union Academy team offering a spot or two to current PB players.

I suppose we'll see if there's any truth to this come August.

Anonymous said...

If we are talking about rumors, I heard PDA Rooney cut 5 players to jinky so new players could join- also, tsf is getting a couple new kids from decent clubs, maybe it will turn into one of the better teams at the club, like tsf x or tsf u13- haddonfield is no longer a serious club, mount olive is extremely overrated and plays kick and run--- these are just rumors so none of this is set in stone

Anonymous said...

Isn't Princeton Black joining Match Fit? Since they lost their Academy status they are desperate to have any team come in and join them.

Anonymous said...

There could be other reasons why Ironbound chose to forfeit that game - like scheduling conflicts or player availability, etc.

so is Princton Black breaking up too? or just the team moving to Matchfit, if the rumors are true?

Anonymous said...

I heard the same about Black too. Picking up their toys and moving to MF in search of a better coach was the story I heard.

Anonymous said...

Princeton players going to MF? That can't be true. Didn't they lose their academy status for boys?

U14B EBSC United FC – We are currently looking for one or two elite level, dedicated field players and a goalie to complete our U15 2014-2015 roster. We are a top nationally ranked team, EDP Division I Central Champs, NJ Cup Champs with professional trainers and coaching staff (NCAA Division I). If interested, please visit www.ebunitedfc.com for contact information.

Anonymous said...

EB you are looking at more than one or two- you are looking at 3-5 because your best players are leaving to academy. WHICH THEY SHOULD DO.

AND if they dont, you should push them to move on. If you clasiffy yourself as coach of development- if you DONT then I can only imagine what your office looks like. Hanging up all the youth medals and trophies.

If you are a real coach, you would send your players to the academy level and have them playing at the highest level in the country rather than your glorified town team.

other than PDA and RED BULLS, the NJ "club teams" are good. No where near great.

Anonymous said...

Sounds like a bitter parent of a team EB pounced on!

EB has more talent than you think. They will remain a top team in the state and country for years to come.

Academies are not the only ones who attract talent. And not every player is in it to be a professional.

Anonymous said...

EB can join Princeton at MF. A win for everyone!

Anonymous said...

The only true academy in NJ is Red Bulls. The others are just a business. If your son wants to play at the next level, he has a much better chance by playing for a good high school team and top club rather than play 10 minutes at a college showcase. Academies are not the only ticket to scholarships..very helpful..but not the only way..if your son is good, they will recognize his talent anywhere.

Anonymous said...

"There could be other reasons why Ironbound chose to forfeit that game - like scheduling conflicts or player availability, etc."

What is this? Naivety time?

They've managed to schedule and field a team for all their other league matches. And the forfeit was conceded with plenty of time left in the season to schedule a match. And it was to be played in Newark so there was no travel burden to consider.

What look painfully obvious is that they didn't want to play a team that has recruited just about all of their better players in the past year or two and who beat the poop out of them in the fall.

It's fun to be naïve at times though.

Anonymous said...

Totally agree with the above comment. Red bulls is the only true academy. PDA sucks. Training sucks. Coaches are really one step up from rec. don't waste your money. A total business. Can get much better development else where. Their management people even worse. Match fit and Njsa. An even bigger waste of money. Especially at the lower age acedemy levels.

Anonymous said...

"It's fun to be naïve at times though."

What is this? a professional judgmental pessimist, nay-sayer and know-it-all at all times?
Yeah, you must have a fun life.

Wonder why they didn't forfeit their other games, knowing that they would get beat up by teams with better players?

Anonymous said...

Which high schools around are considered to have good soccer programs?
I heard of a St.Peter's Prep(?), but not many others.

Anonymous said...

If you want to go pro? Delusional, all of you. Odds are You don't know one person that will go pro.

Anonymous said...

Being that this is a u14 blog, I am assuming from an earlier post that playing at the next level was referring to college. After college, into the working world. That is reality.

Anonymous said...

Can people stop posting that Red Bulls is the best in NJ? Everybody knows that. Also, just because your kid won't go pro, doesn't mean you have to say it so negatively.

Anonymous said...

OK, you wont get a full scholarship either. Just wont. 98% wont get a dime.

Anonymous said...

I agree that scholarships are unlikely for the vast majority.

But I think that the ability to walk on and play could give a kid the advantage he may need in the most important competition he faces...to get accepted to a particular school of his choice. And if that's the case then it's all been worth it.

Anonymous said...

Just spotted that Roma beat Marlboro in the EDP League. So it looks like this one will come down to the EB/PB match on Sunday. A win for EB (or even a draw) should be enough to win the league for them (assuming they also beat TSF next week).

But if PB can win the match then Roma can take the league with a win over the Stallions in their final game.

PB's chances of winning the league are pretty slim as they'd not only have to beat EB, but EB and Roma would also have to lose to TSF and Stallions.

EB have had a great spring and winning this league would not only top it off for them, but could even push them up to GS's #1 spot.

Anonymous said...

EB lost against PB 4-2 in EDP tournament today. It will be interesting to see how this tournament is going to end. At this level anything can happen with any team.

Anonymous said...

EB's EDP loss yesterday took them out of the driver's seat for the league title...and Roma has now jumped into their spot. With a win over Stallions tonight, Roma would clinch the league.

But if Roma were to draw or lose tonight, an EB win over TSF tomorrow night would give them the league title.

Were EB to lose again to TSF, PB and Roma could end up even on 18 points should Roma draw tonight. Oddly, EDP doesn't seem to make their tie-breaking process very clear. So PB may need Roma to lose as well leaving them on the outside looking for a lot of luck.

My guess is that Roma will win it tonight. But if they don't, I really doubt EB will let it slip from their grasp a for a second time in 4 days.

Anonymous said...

Considering that the staliions lost 5-1 to tsf, an average team, there is almost no way for gotschee to lose tonight.

Anonymous said...

Roma just won against stallions 2-1

Anonymous said...

The 2-1 score is posted on the EDP site so Roma has ended up unbeaten (6 wins and 2 draws) and wins the league with 20 points.

So PB ends the spring with the MAPS Cup championship and their appearance in the NJ Cup final as their highlights. Not bad at all.

EB wins the NJ Cup which is a good spring all on it's own (ask Den of Lions).

Roma wins the EDP league which is, well, the league.

Marlboro's highlight was making their final at the EDP Cup which doesn't sound too impressive on it's own. But they beat both Patriots Red and NYSC last month and also had a win over PB back in March (after getting pasted by them the week before). So not too bad of a spring for them either.

Anonymous said...

Well then, congratulations to the teams and the boys!
Good accomplishments by the top four.
I'm sure we will see more action for the summer leagues.

Anonymous said...

EB let the two last games slip through their fingers......or should I say their goalies' fingers.

From what I saw, they need a new goalie if they wish to stay on top of the ranks.

Regardless, I agree with the poster above.

Congrats to all the top four teams.

Anonymous said...

I'd agree that a spectacular spring got away from EB right at the end. They did fine with the NJ Cup win but adding the EDP League to that (or even another tournament) would have meant a great spring for them.

In the end, I'd guess they're a actually a little disappointed in the way things worked out.
