Happy players (coaches/parents)don't leave. No one is being TAKEN, they are following in hopes of something better. Only time will tell if it is better. Current management is not concerned with complaints (+20 rosters, promises not kept, players just a check, DOC doesn't even show up for a meeting he called) then they have no one to blame but themselves. SJA...pay attention, listen, BE DIFFERENT!
25 on roster, they will find enough to form a team
I bet they will but it won't be with my money.
Why, it is a team just like any other team. What will the difference be. MF gives you what?
MF gives you nothing but LIES. And a big bill.
They all promise to be different in the beginning, but they end up being just like everyone else. They will tell you want you want to hear to get a team started, and then they do whatever they want.
No, MF never promised to be different. Just thought I could deal with it. I was wrong.FYI: Recent post deleted because it sited a person's initials. There was nothing in the post that needed deleting.
What was it that you couldn't deal with, 2:55?
okay so what team do we run to now? if what was said before on the u15 npl coach for mfjumping to the new club true. didnt he have a niece on one of the ecnl teams for mf too???
MF coachs niece never went to ECNL for unknown reason. Perhaps she didn't make it. She went back to NJSA instead of playing for her uncle on the MF NPL team. Go figure that one out, lol!
8:14 I don't think that's true. I heard her father didn't want her playing for MF period! I think it had to do with the infrastructure of the club, rather than her uncle.
funny how alot of coaches daughters play or train with njsa. says alot of that club. and no i dont have any one at that club.
So what does it say about the club, when every year, girls leave in droves from NJSA? One year they lost 11 players. It says, "it's a temporary environment". That's all it says. The owner doesn't care about the girl's side at all. He is only focused on the boy's DA. It's always been that way, it always will be. I'm actually surprised they even have any girls teams left. How many? 2-3 girls teams now? Pathetic. (How many college placements for girls have they made too? Um, none I believe).
hear a bunch of Sting's players are going to SJA and PDA shore tryouts. PDA just announced the NJSA U14 coach will have the U15 Shore team next year. I wonder how many will go with him? NJSA losing more teams. tell me again.... "funny how alot of coaches daughters play or train with njsa. says alot of that club"
NJSA is now NJSCA and they are forming girls' teams U11 to u18 so they will have many teams in the Fall. So they will have more than 2-3 teams. Since many players are leaving to PDA Shore not sure how competitive they will be http://njsa04.com/home/799219.html
this just keeps getting better and better. can't make this up!"It is with great pride that we announce the strategic partnership of two of the top soccer programs in NJ, NJSA 04 and Cedar Stars Academy. "WHO???????????LOL
just because you list teams on the website, doesn't mean they will happen.
Here's a big shout out to MF's Director of Coaching: Next time you're avidly watching an ECNL game and the same age NPL team has a game immediately following at the same location, why don't you stay and at least watch HALF of the NPL game before leaving. Better to stay and at least give the appearance that you're interested, rather than leave, and prove to everyone you only care about the ENCL. (oh your website proves that for you.)
Too funny! Please tell me you were not surprised?
What does a director of coaching earn
At MF, certainly NOT the respect of those he lies to.
Every DOC has bosses right? What would happen at my company if I called a meeting with a group of clients, pulled a no-show and then didn't even apologize? What would happen at my company if I ignored half of my job because I just wasn't interested in it? What would happen at my company if I lied to clients? What would happen at my company if I lost at least 70k worth of sales?
At MF& Co. THEY JUST DON'T CARE! The way they see it, there will always be new clients to come along. The owners are only in for the money. They don't care either. They give the DOC free rein to do as he pleases. In my opinion, this will only work for so long as they con too many people, and word gets out. I'd say MF has a short expiration date. They should only be in the ECNL business and leave everyone else alone.
You think that any other team is any better? Coaches play players that don't come to practice, miss games for other sports, and sit players who show up at everything. It doesn't matter, they all want to win and will do what they have to because by winning that is how they attract new players.
i wonder how may girls will still be at tryout hoping to get the special ticket for the ECNL team. oh wait work hard go to every practice and NO WAY. DC of MF has done that before to the npl before. it doesnt matter what we say on here, some parents think it is just sore grapes.
Sounds a lot like NoBama or Obomba. Lies. and more lies.
SJA - South Jersey Academy. Who is this. This is not PDA Shore is it ?Gotta hand it to all these entrepreneuers thinking they can make a buck off our girls. They are doing it. But let's see someone come along who actually puts some pride, player development and humanity into their package. Player development is FAR, FAR different than team development. Credit goes out to the coach who can reach the latter through the former. But I don't see this too much out there. It does seem like the shore area is becoming saturated. There are only so many girls to go around.
Hate to say it, (not really) but we told you so! People complained about MF continuously over a year ago, but nobody wanted to listen. Said our girls just weren't good enough and that we were bitter. Now those people are making the same complaints. Ha!
Who said who was not good enough ?Look - you are constantly going to get severakl sides to each story. Those who are on the team and still drinking the Kool-Aid, the disgruntled exes (who may have a very good reason to be disgruntled), the clubs view and the truth, which is somewhere in the middle and is probably a blend of it all.As I have said before, as long as we pay money for this experience for our kids, and this is a profit generating venture for the people who train and coach our girls, you will never see unadulterated development. There are far too many ulterior motives.
11:17. Over the last year & a half, whenever someone tried to warn others of how MF broke promises, did not develop players, and they were all about the $$ and winning, people (anonymous) would reply that the complainers were only bitter, because their little Mia Hamm did not make the team. As far as naming who, you know that is not allowed here.If I was to take an educated guess however, it was the kool-aid drinking parents of the players who made the MF team responding to the comments from those who knew better. Now after a year, some of those kool-aid drinking parents have experienced what they had been warned about. So now they have to decide, do we go to the new academy startng up with the same guy that coached our MF team or do we try the new PDA team in our area? What do we do? Lets see if anyone has learned anything. Lol
I'd bet the MF coach is leaving MF because he does not agree with MF policies (25 rosters, 3 GK, home games 1.5 hours away, DOC that could care less about anything except ECNL). Many of the girls are at MF because of that coach. Makes sense they would follow him.
OK. Starting to make some sense. The guy who is leaving MF. This guy is starting his own academy called South Jersey SJA. Can someone send me a link to their webpage. BTW - I am not sure this blog has a rule against mentioning individual adult / club offical names ... does it ? Or maybe it does ... it says no names. OK so let's not go there.Where is SJA based out of ? To put the academy label right into their name ... is this warranted by anything other than marketing ?
NJSA link was there so think this is okayhttp://www.southjerseyacademyfc.com/Programs/778014.htmltryouts tonight for coming U16smy daughter will be attending SJA and PDA shore tryouts.
Academy just a name.
Oh please 10:47, that MF coach was part of the problem. One of the biggest tellers of non-truths & BS I ever dealt with. Liked to make all kinds of promises he couldn't keep too. I'm sure there are many reasons he wants to start his own "academy". Control, money and the authority to do whatever he wants with no accountability.
I took a look at the website.I never met the dude. Have heard an awful lot over the years swirling around his name, Toms River, the who initial formation of the MF team, the Beachwood nonsense etc. So with this cast of characters, I don't see any reason to think the typical politics will not abound.Notice the DOC - Tony Meola. I will tell you this much - he better keep his program on the up-and-up with integrity. Otherwise, just call into his daily sattelite radio show and bash him there ... lol. Meola seems like a good guy - don't know him. Hopefully he will stay about the fray and keep his program true to the concepts of development I am sure he has preached over the years.Good luck at the tryouts. I have to think it is going to be a big reunion of TR, Beachwood and Wall area girls. parents - keep your distance (from each other) ... lolI wonder if they already have more than 50% of the U16 team picked out already.
NO, it's going to be all girls from the North. SERIOUSLY? You really said that? LOL
105 - there is a lot of other south to draw from other than bw, tr and wall. i think the blogger was just speculating that a lot of the same players who were with this guy before are going to be with him again.
Tony Meola is well respected and very well connected. The kids respond to him well. He is the complete opposite of MFs DOC, who is unethical through and through. I think he will bring talented coaches to the club. Players at MF and PDA are just a number. Maybe this new club will care about each player and their development. It would be a new concept in NJ
NJ CUP UPDATECOPA - 0STA - 0STA WINS IN PK's
U 15 had a nice group 15-20 kids on a terrible night of weather. The other group was much larger from what I saw . Again the weather was not good last night ..
Tony Meola is a good but very busy man. I wonder how involved he will actually be with this club, or if it is primarily a business deal to use his name.
SJA... be different!!
SJA is out of Berkeley. all these clubs are the same. Its all about whos coaching the team
Berkeley NJ, the Soccer capital of the world. Where is Berkeley again?
I think it's funny that the MF ECNL coach has to go outside the club to find players for next year's team because players in the club don't want to play for him.
Nope its because MF prefers shiny and new players rather then developing what they have.
every club has tryouts. MF not different. When you have tryouts, people come from out of the club. What is different about MF in this instance ? If they are having tryouts because of an exodus you are aware of, that is a different story. are a lot leaving MF ECNL ?
Some have already left. More will be leaving. He made the rare offer and tried to fill the gap with NPL players and none wanted to go. Has to say something about the coach. People don't want to play for him.
I heard ECNL coach is leaving
Hope they find a good replacement. They have some nice talent there.
It's not just the U15 ECNL coach, it is the whole MF organization. It's a disaster. DOC does whatever he wants and owners do nothing about it. It is a business and it is BAD BUSINESS. It only hurts the club. Time is limited MF, repair what you can now before it is too late.
How did those MF tryouts go last night? Did they get a large turnout?
Sometime before noon yesterday MF moved the U15 practice from T-TH to M-W to coincide with tryouts. When parents complained they got a "you need to be at practice" email. The big DOC himself mailed the team asking who was attending. He even stuck in a little "nice job this past weekend" in there. IMO, a little too late. From what I understand many of the current team did not attend.
who hands out evaluations? never seen it. never got one from MF or NJSA which was promised and I paid them.
Just got a new email. MF's Wednesday U16-U17 tryout has been cancelled. Please contact their respective coaches if you are interested in the teams. Was the turnout that bad?
LOL How would the big DOC know to say "nice job" when he never sticks around to watch any NPL game at any age? So funny. This is why players are leaving. Soon, more teams will leave and he won't have any teams to pull in because of the bad MF reputation.
the doc doesnt care he will suck some other parents into beLIEving MF is where they belong if they want the best for the child and to get into college
PDA is the perfect choice if you don't mind 25 players on the team. Lots of $ for no season during high school and a very extended roster. This will be for all PDA teams except Shore.
PDA has an opportunity here. They can open up shop wherever there is a Duncan donuts across the state. Seriously ... U have so many clubs who have shown they don't care about your kids. Da just has to inject a little morality into their business plan. They don't need to promise high level. Just good coaching training and ethics. Put the mfs and wildcats of the state right out of business. But I still can't believe the mf ecnl team is having these problems and is in fear of losing a significant number of players. As far as their doc ..his job shouldn't need to be to show up at games. It should be to set the curriculum, style of play and philosophy of play of the club. He should keep quality control over his coaches and that might be one reason for him to show at a game, but I'd he hires the right coaches, a good coach with the right values is all u need, mf can't find any talent insofar as coaches? We are probably only hearing from the detractors out here. I bet there are many who are still pleased with their mf experience.....
PDA has the same issues as MF.. Broken promises, big rosters, and big fees.. Its all about getting fees in the door and not about whats best for the kids. Wake up people.. All MF and PDA want is your money not your kids. The sad thing is parents and kids go into it with big hopes and leave their town or small club teams which leaves these teams scrambling. In the long run they would of been better served staying in the smaller programs and developing.
7:49 The point wasn't about the DOC attending games. It was about him attending only ENCL games, which he DOES do and ignoring the NPL games.
I was under the impression that the MF NPL players were encouraged to stay on NPL after they did not make ECNL, and that they could work their way up to ECNL. How could they possibly make the move to ECNL if the proper authorities aren't at the games to see them play?
They are encouraged to stay and pay
and they were not asked to move up because of their effort or improvement. they were only asked to fill spots because of injuries and ECNL players had quit. I can't understand why they didn't jump at the opportunity.
Come to the Freehold Barracudas, town team, not expensive and the girls have fun. No college recruiting going on here but a competitive team.
Unless your daughter is on PDA Oreilly there aren't college recruiters looking at any of these teams. The girls might as well have fun.
Sorry, Freehold competitive? Your last 5 tournaments, 18 games, 3 wins, 1 tie and 14 losses. were there ANY top 30 GS teams in that 18?Have you ever played MF, NJSA, BEC, NJ Crush, JU, NJ Rush, Copa or even ANY top 20 GS teams?Girls that play on these teams made Varsity as Freshman. Do you have any Varsity players on your team?Yes, I am sure your fees are much cheaper but....
Yep, only 25-30 of New Jersey's 98/99 girls will play in college. Try again O'Reilly parent.
That's right. College coaches only look at oreilly and never any other teams. There can never be a nj girl worthy of college ball if she is not on PDA. So each and every PDA girls is above all girls on ever other team. No player on rush, njsa, mf, bec, crush, copa could play on mf and none of them will get a look at by a coach unless they happen to play against PDA. Might as well just pack it in if u are not on. PDA. Sometimes I wonder where some people get their ideas from.
My daughter did not play for PDA and neither did her teammates And ALL the girls from her team last season are playing soccer at D1-D2- and D3 levels. You do have to be on a team that attends the top showcases to get exposure on the North East to get seen, but as long as the kids write the coaches and network themselves they can play college soccer w/out being on the top PDA team.
Hey genius, this team isn't for you. They didn't say they were a top team. So teams like MF and PDA etc don't have players miss practice and games for lacrosse? You are a complete fool if you think that doesn't happen. Sure, they may say it is for a confirmation or something like that, but social media tells the true story.
So are mf ecnl and npl staying together? Where does their north team fit into the mix? Sounds like there could be a lot of changes in shore area with new PDA and sja. Wildcats a great option. Think about it before making your decisions.
"Wildcats a great option" Ok, maybe they are but think about who is writing that. A parent on the team? NO, why would they try to attract players to their team that will knock their daughter potentially out of playtime or even the team. The only person that would write that is the coach/owner. Typical of him to stir the pot and attract players by fear.
I live in north jersey and I was surprised how good the wildcats were when we played them.
Lmao. C'mon coach we all know your a south jersey guy. Last place I would take my kid. Rotten from top to bottom.
It is comical what he is trying to do. Cant be proven, so he can always deny, but anyone with a brain cell knows the truth.
Attracting players by fear makes no sense. Motivating existing.players by fear is another story.Poster who says it is obvious what he is trying to do .. not.so obvious to me. Please share.
I'm a parent of Wildcat and they are doing well for a new young team. They have had great games and so so games, but they are getting there. No team/club is perfect. At least on this team there aren't masses leaving and the coaching staff cares about developing players that WILL play on a future college team that is appropriate for each individual player. The older girls that have been recruited last year PLAY on their college teams. I know This because have an older child that went through the program.
7:17: As for masses not leaving the Wildcats, what happens now that a bunch of MF girls went to or are coming to your tryouts? What then? Will the coach dump the weaker players and take them if they are better or will he say no thanks to the MF players and keep the status quo? I think the former.
True that's what happens on all teams.
So MF North team is new NPL and whoever is left from existing NPL team is out of luck or has to travel hours up North to stay on team? What a great way to run a club. Screw the players and the parents let's just keep making money!! Yay for MF! ((sarcasm))
Sorry reedy boy it gets better
Does anyone know the outcome of today's state cup games? Rush/Crush, Spartans/Morris Utd?
Crush 1-0. JU 5-1. NJ Rush played dirty and STA leered completely outmatched.
Were, not leered. Crush looked very good and will be tough to beat.
Thank you for the scores.
PDA u14 parent. Our team was playing next to an STA game which was next to our field. Not sure if it was U15 or 16. I could not believe the words that came out of their coach's mouth.
Crush vs rush game may have had a different outcome if they could have played the whole game. Quite unfair to the players on all the teams that had their games shortened.
Rush was losing with 10-15 mins to go. They had no real chances and played as dirty as could be. That was the right result.
Ju might have beaten STA and won the state cup today and Kudos to the girls for that. But some of you parents should be appalled at what you said yesterday. You are everything that is wrong with youth sports today. You may laugh and snicker when you read this but the truth is some of you are an absolute embarrassment and you should know better !
Spoken by a true STA parent! Seems like sour grapes to me !
22 minutes to go in Rush/Crush game. Rush may have lost the game but in a semi final, full 80 minutes should be played.
Agreed, not allowing a team to play last 22 minutes of a Semi Final is poor by NJ Cup. Plenty can happen in that timeframe. All games were delayed anyway due to the weather so having them finish theirs would not have affected the schedule. Unlucky Rush
Sounds like sour grapes to me
You really think that they shouldn't have played the full match? You cant possibly be of sound mind.
I'm not from Rush or Crush, and I agree that a full game should have been played. Anything can happen, even within a few minutes. Rush was robbed of the opportunity to tie or win the State Cup final.
11:38 you are right on target with that statement. Stupid decision. The refs weren't running the lines much anyway, so they weren't tired.
Why was the game called early? Bad weather?
Thunderstorm came through. Delayed for about 25 minutes.
My daughter's team played JU in the past. I do have to agree that we have seen the absolute worst behavior from the parents on that particular team.
NVSC 98 blue at Epic. Did anyone else witness the drop ball goal? We were waiting to take the field and play was stopped for an injured player. The restart was a drop ball just outside the 18. NVSC said they were playing the drop ball back to the keeper. So the other team backed out of the drop ball. NVSC then took a touch and buried the game winner. The reaction from parents and coaches alike was unbelievable. They went crazy like they won the World Cup and it was a good thing. They may have won the game but to the 4 teams watching and waiting it was one of the most unsportsmanlike things witnessed.
in our last game three of our players did not even go in to play. They sat the whole game. What is going on? I feel really bad for the parents and kids. why did they take these girls on the team if they are not good enough to play but good enough to play a hefty fee.
for not playing 3 kids - Reasons could be any combination since there were 3:1. kid did not go to practice, 2. maybe the coach found out the kid tried out somewhere, 3. the kid tried out and is going to a new team4. they did not pay their final club payment or dues for next year 5. Kid was upfront and said they were not coming back to the team to pursue another interest, sport.
7:59. That is not good. It shows a total disrespect for the game. If it was a miss q then you would have seen instant apologetic behavior not cheering. I am not saying what should be done if this is a miss q , but I did see a team at a tournament immediately step aside and allow the other team to put one in to at least equal things out. The behavior of the coach and parents alike was of shock in that situation when the player shot it instead of playing it nicely back. The player didn't understand. That's fine but nobody should be celebrating.
I agree - the drop ball goal - pure classlessness. And no understanding of the sportsmanship and unwritten code of conduct in this instance. Considering that intelligent fans cheer when pros send the ball back to the other team, a large round of booos is definitely warranted here for the kid, the coach and parents. Kids gets off the hook if she didn't understand what was expected. Coach should be brought before some disciplinary committee and suspended for this utter lack of sportsmanship. And previous poster was write - they should have taken an own goal and evened the score.I guess winning at all costs came in the play here.
I never heard of such a thing before. Sounds deceitful & most definitely unsportsman like. I'm shocked that it was even allowed. I'm grateful to now be aware of this, so not to fall victim to it. Nothing short of a scam in my opinion.
That coach should be ashamed of him/herself! I can't image that the players thought that strategy up all be themselves.
Sorry, by themselves.
The team that did this is a new team. NVSC 98 blue. A pretty good team that isn't known for foul play. Coaches have good reputation and extensive experiance. So how does this happen? How does the "w" come before the game?
And, why was this allowed to happen?
It's not apart of the laws of the game. It's an unwritten rule world wide typically celebrated by a cheer or clap by both teams. It's a tradition that honors and respects the game.
I can see how this could happen. The girl didn't know what was expected. Not a stretch..not all girls watch the pro game. I have see refs explain to girls what is expected in this type of drop ball situation. This ref apparently did not explain it well enuf or at all. That being said, u all know as well as I do how many parents don't know very much about this game. Even some admitting it out here. Not a crime at all. So that would explain the cheering parents. It all adds up to a crime without intent, given that no parents who know the custom were actually the ones celebrating. I don't see the act as the problem. It was a mistake that should have been rectified immediately by the coach instructing his goalie and field players to allow the other team to kickoff and score without reisitance. The fact that this was not done is unacceptable. The ref should have even suggested it to the coach, but this is all on the coach. He had to use good sportsmanship and fix the mistake right away.
for May 13, 2014 at 9:25 AM We have always been up front with a Coach about tryouts/leaving and it has never been held against my daughter. Maybe she was lucky. To sit a child because they are choosing another option(team/club/sport) shows the lack of maturity and mentality of that coach (or DOC if it is their order) and it isn't a place you want for your daughter anyway.
I agree 7:23. But there is a lot of pettiness in this world and it seems to abound even more amongst the youth soccer coaching ranks. Most can't coach or develop anyway. Some won't admit it, maybe not even to themselves, but they get off on having power over kids and their families.
If you aren't playing, the coach doesn't feel you will help him win. Simple.
Our coach has sat my daughter more then once. She is always either first or second in goals scored on the team. But she is lazy. So if she isn't hard he will bench her. It could cost him the game but he is more interested in long term then right now. If my daughter worked hard? And the other player may not score as much or be as strong but she works her tail off. She deserves it. I've also seen girls sit for lengthy periods because of match ups. Big vs small, slow vs fast, etc etc. then there is the few childish coaches who will change players around now based on players leaving. Or because he is angry your kid is leaving. He is only proving why you made the right decision.
Agree 16-18 ideal. Anything over that is a money grab no matter who or how they try to sell it.
The top 25 GS teams in NJ. Are all these teams still active ? Holmdel kind of became a MF team so they are no longer active as Holmdel. To me, it is amazing how many higher level soccer teams we pack into this small state. Please don't misinterpret higher level - I am not saying all at a level of PDA or the top few teams in the state. But you do have a lot of teams that seem to travel quite a bit, enter fairly competitive tournaments and play in leagues other than their local "county" league.Seems like so many more teams have sprouted up over the last few years. Teams that were not there before.Hoping most of it is quality soccer for these girls.PDA O'REILLYFC COPA ACADEMY CELESTEMATCH FIT ACADEMY FC ECNL U15NJ CRUSH FC CHARGEJERSEY UNITED SPARTANS 98/99G ASLNEW JERSEY RUSH 98 GIRLS NPLSTA MORRIS UNITED NPL 98NJSA 04 STING YELLOW NPLPDA IMPACT 98/99 NPLTSF ACADEMY 98/99GRAGE FC PREMIER MAGICSOUTH JERSEY ELITE BARONS '98 PHOENIXPDA BLUESHOLMDEL FC NJX MILANPRINCETON SA PREMIER 98/99 MAGICMATCH FIT ACADEMY FC NE NPL U15NJ STALLIONS ACADEMY BEC CELTICSJENYB ELITE TRAINING COBRASMEDFORD SC JAGUARSLINDEN YOUTH SOCCER DIAMONDSNJ WILDCATS LADY STRIKERSTBAA FIREWESTFIELD SA FC PREMIER LEGENDTHISTLE FC UNITEDCJFC INDEPENDENCE
Not sure what your point is 11:21. Why are you listing the current top 25 teams here?
They were complimenting NJ soccer.
Is there nowhere in NJ that has turf fields for the State Cup??
So where is everyone playing Memorial Day Weekend? A lot of top teams missing from local (NJ) tournaments.
PDA, FC Delco?
That's it though. A lot of top 10 teams not attending. Copa? Crush? YMS?
MF has how many U15 girls teams now in NJ?PDA has how many in NJ?NJSA has 2 I believe. Are there any regular non academy teams left for a girl to play on?
No more town teams left for the girls. just MF NJSA PDA. but parents are willing to pay alot more for some of the same coaches. Oh yeah they are getting new Jerseys. What a shame what happened to the soccer clubs in NJ. I hear some teams are leaving and trying to go back to where they were, but the problem is not enough girls for the team
What about Medford, Mount Laurel, Thistle & Wildcats. Aren't these still some of the better non-academy teams? And besides, most of these teams that add "academy" to their name donn't necessarily make them a true or recognized academy.
What the wildcats price tag? Prob would fall under academy in my book. Academy just a name.
Good opportunity to check out Medford this weekend. They are looking for guest players for FC Delco.
- Academies actually only exist for boys according to US soccer- you can call something an academy. what does it actually mean ? Its really an attempt at creating a perception that a higher level soccer is being taught and played. Something more elite.- Wildcats is NOT a town team. I am not sure what their OLSA stands for but I am guessing the A stands for Academy. They want you to consider them as an academy. As does PDA. As does NJSA. As does MF. As does COPA. As does about 15-20 other companies in the state.
reply to 5/18 10:43 pmI think the reason is that FC Delco is not what it once was and the PDA tournament having an ECNL and Non-ECNL bracket is the reason for some teams not playing in it. I think a tournament should be the best teams play each other regardless of league. It really hurts the game since sometimes you will only see some matchups once a year and with this segregation maybe never. Again maybe some teams like it this way to feel like they are the best but I say let the results speak for themselves.
Go to the Honeybadgers
With player movement this time of year how did it impact the new PDA Shore program. Did an entire team move over?
why would an entire team move to PDA?
to this poster of April 26, 2014 at 2:35 PM"You need to get your facts right, New owner cares about the Girls side, he lowered the cost on all girls team, bought land and NJCSA will have Girls teams in u11,u12,13(2),u14 u15 and u16,lossing DG was a loss, But MH is just as good and a little nicer and positive to the player while he is coaching. So now you know!THE GIRLS MATTER TO NJCSA"Anonymous said...So what does it say about the club, when every year, girls leave in droves from NJSA? 12:26 You're talking apples and oranges. Different club now. Different coach. OBVIOUSLY changes were made and HOPEFULLY for the better. Only time will tell. So now you know! lol
good info, I didn't know it had changed ownership. looked like a partnership. unfortunately they are starting out behind. they may be able to attract girls at the younger ages but I think the more competitive U15s and older won't bite. good luck!
It was a merger, a new partner, not a new owner. It will be a great club in about 3 years. DG left and his replacement is not so great, not a good communicator.
i am not seeing it.both have a DA. neither has a girls side in fact NJSA actually looks better than CS for girls.if they were bringing a strong girls side to the table then I would agree with you but it looks like CS has actually put less effort into the girls side and that is pretty hard.hope for our future girls that you are right.
Cedar Stars is a club started by a wealthy man who wanted a place for his son to play. His son.
That's right. And hair club for men was started by a bald man who wanted hair to grow on his head. His head.Doesn't mean other baldies did not benefit from it.If this wealthy man did not have a passion for the and want to try to bring some quality to soccer growth with his ideas, then I can think of a lot of easier ways to find your kid a good place to play than starting your own club. While there is money to be made in youth soccer, I don't think his venture is going to add significant to his fortune. There are more lucrative and less aggravating ventures.
No one said he was trying to make money, well with the exception of you.
money or no money, why would one conclude that the club is not a good place for their child because the founder/owner/leader started the club because he wanted a better place for his son to play ?
if I had the money to spend, I'd start my own club. with an extensive background in human resources and customer service I have NUMEROUS changes I would make to the current nightmare called competitive youth soccer. a board with several key people who truly are interested in making the system better for the kids could do wonderful things.but then that is just a lottery dream
and why would one conclude that he would care about others?
If we could start over again what town/club teams would you bring back?
Toms River Fusion
NJX Milan was a joke! Every tournament: Win tie loss. EVERY TIME! They were not good and the players that went to MF weren't either with the exception of 2 of the 3 that went to ECNL.
just as many girls left NJSA because of the old sting coach as he drew to the club. there wouldn't have been ANY turnover on sting.didn't put his initials because forum mod is going to delete it.
wow 4.36 please tell us what you really think.what team is your little Mia on??
Oh, did I hurt your feelings 9:50, former NJX parent? Poor baby. Look at the record. WIN TIE LOSS every tournament. Couldn't win anything ever. The manager (you?) was up the coach's butt and the kiss-A$$ parents were up his and led to that disaster. That's what I know and my little MIA is at a much better place, thanks for asking.
Oh wow, here we go with the little Mia comments again. Hold on a second while I go get my measuring stick! Lol
and of course I had to be an NJX parent. I think not.
I agree that the clubs mentioned above were all quality teams. Especially Somerset.I would add Marlton and Marlboro into that group. Its a shame these teams disbanded.
I forgot about Marlton & Marlboro. You're right; too bad they disbanded. There was also Delran, but wouldn't want to see them back--dirtiest coach & players I ever witnessed!!
u sure u don't mean marlton.Manalapan was pretty dirty too.
3:12 is right. Both of those teams very dirty.
Marlboro went to PDA and now pay 4x the money for nothing
Youth soccer is littered with fathers, and a few mothers (Oh and some of the fathers are real mothers too) who were always looking for the next angle - the next best move for their team at the expense of the individual player (and I do mean from the top to the bottom of the roster). They should focus more of their time on learning the game and working to make the kids they selected at the last tryouts as good as they can be instead of thinking how they can move the team up in the rankings so their daughter will be on a better team, or for whatever other motivation they may have power - ego - control.Development should be focused on the individual and let the team prosper organically through this growth. Instead, the mindset is ... we are only 2-3 players away from being a top 5 team in the state .... or ... what team can we merge with to put the best 8 of their girls with the best 8 of ours and make a super team. Its the mindset of a shortcut to success, which rarely ever works, and it is done so often times at the expense of developing the kids. There are some good guys around that actually make an effort to educate themselves and do the right thing for the kids, but from what I have seen, for each good one there are 3 or 4 politician types who think more about the W-Ls than about the individuals they coach. I've seen it and heard it all too often.
You are so right.....Amen to that.
I will second that 12:23 , parents should evaluate the child as the year has been completed to see where his or her child keeps developing from the program or with a trainer/coach. When your kid starts to flat line , you need to recognize it quickly.
9:44 You are absolutely correct. However, too many parents can't seem to see that their child isn't developing or keeping up with the better players. Many times these are parents in "power" such as the manager so their kid keeps getting moved along and many times taking the starting spot and playing minutes away from a more deserving player. Just get another person to manage the team, coaches, instead of holding back better players and the team as a whole because of one kid.
Have there been changes with the Sting & the Wildcats? Early on both teams were looking strong, but lately they seem to be on the downside?
Early on when ?I've heard of some discord at Wildcats. Wildcats is about a year old - right ? Has the training/ooaching/platform they are paying for allowed to them succeed as a group more than the places the girls all came from ? I have not seen them play. At best, I think you may be looking at a top 10 team in NJ, and that would be ambitious. One line of thought is as follows: the core of that team was a town team in Monmouth County that never achieved much of anything. Then you add a few girls from this team and that around the county, none of them, from very good programs and none of them top players on the teams they left. So what should we expect. Actually, I will answer that with a 2nd line of thought: You can expect a lot if their coaching and training is good. I think players can hit their stride at different times. If the girls are hungry, have the right attitude and are brought along properly. So the question is, what are they getting at Wildcats ?Sting - I haven't heard peep from them. Always a sound program with good training that was evidenced in the way they played. I have seen here that their coach left and I know nothing of the new person, nor how much turnover they have had.
Does anyone know how many Sting players are leaving for PDA shore?
You would mean sting grey, right?
Obviously they are curious or they wouldn't have asked 4:17. Maybe you don't care, but everyone has the right to ask a question.
Yeah, and wouldn't it be nice if people could ask reasonable questions without others making immature comments in reply. Just goes to show you the level some of these people are on.
Checking tournaments and found a site that lists many tournments and info www.upper90shot.com
Rush 3-2 over Crush for NJYS State Cup Championship
Is it true that MF ECNL coach is leaving? Is so, who is his replacement?
R cherry picked enough players to win a SC. They don't play better, just grab better players. Joke
Sorry you were "C"rushed.
One line of thought is as follows: the core of that team was a town team in Monmouth County that never achieved much of anything. Then you add a few girls from this team and that around the county, none of them, from very good programs and none of them top players on the teams they left. So what should we expect. Where do you get your information from? Lots of good players all over the state that have played on club town teams but could not or chose not to join a higher level team due to cost until their girls got older! As non top players?? All players, all levels move around and move on. You should expect good coaching and player development!!!! Very happy with the team. I'm a parent of a player and sticking with the team!!!
Congrats to Rush for winning the SC.Why are players leaving this successful program to go to PDA South and pay more money. They can't beat any quality teams in tournaments and play in a sub-par league.
They are not aware that key players from current PDA south team are leaving and roster will be 23 next season. Some of them will be bench warmers. Shame for them.
PDA, where you get banged for your buck.
Everyone thinks the grass is greener at the other club. The real crime is NJYS and USCLUB allow teams to roster more than 18.An you never know the roster size when you accept a spot since they can keep adding.
