Does the ODP favoritism extend to the Regional and National camps? In this age group there are a few girls in that ilk. And in '98's there are many 8 or 9. That is pretty impressive and to say that NJ is a joke is strange to me. Do other states have that many?
What's the story with JU placed in the last bracket at Jeff Cup? That is a significant drop from where they have been playing.

bottom flight at Disney going 0-1-25th in asl flight at Bethesda7 GA in 2nd flight at newssjust because they have been playing there doesn't mean they belong there. bottom flight at Jeff cup is about right.
weather for the weekend. At what point does a tournament say it is too cold to play ?Sat Mar 1Few Snow Showers 36°24°Few Snow ShowersChance of snow:30%Sun Mar 2Mostly Sunny 30°23°Mostly Sunny
Sounds like the same weather in November. It's the Northeast. What do you expect?
It's not about what I expect. It's about what it will be and what would be considered reasonable weather to play soccer.Windchill below 20. Frostbite with 30 mins or less. Bundle those kids up.There is a reason why northern European counties with harsh winters take long breaks in their domestic leagues. But we need our kids to be hardcore so tournaments can make their money. You thing you are gonna find much quality soccer out there, u are mistaken. Good luck to those sitting on the bench. Parents, break out your thermals and have a great time. American youth soccer at its finest.
You are in the wrong line of sports. If you really didn't care, you wouldn't be on this site. You wouldn't even know about it. Make up your mind.
10:12 - who said I didn't care. I am blogging about it. I do care. I don't want my kids freezing. I don't want to stand out in the cold watching it. There is really nothing good that can come from playing a tournament in frigid weather except for the tournament itself bringing in money. The kids will not enjoy it. The kids will not be playing soccer in conditions that allow their best to come up. The touch on the ball is significantly diminished, both by a colder ball and by cold extremities. When you are on Randalls Island or some Manhattan field close to the water, and your dealing with 15-20 mph winds on top of 25-30 degrees, I hope you can find some enjoyment in watching your daughter play quality soccer. Randalls was bad last year. I think this year will be somewhat worse.
last year Randalls was cold. I was there.Sat/Sun last year had H/L of 41/32 and 42/29. Saturday afternoon/evening it was raining.Sat/Sun this year forecast H/L of 31/15 and 27/11. And snow. This really ought to be a lot of fun.See you there.
This tournament should be cancelled. Cold is one thing. Frostbite and hypothermia are another.
Tournament should be cancelled. Insane to have girls out there in this extreme cold. Nothing good to come out of it for anyone, but the people profiting from it. Risk of injury is greatly increased and no college coaches will be there. No one enjoys it. Especially difficult for the goalkeepers who can't run around to generate body heat.
So you never played a game in 35 degree weather? That is the forecast.
If the tournament does get cancelled, I will assure you that some of your coaches will be setting up scrimmages for this weekend.
8:49--35 degrees is the highest temperature reached at some point in the day.Might only be 13 degrees out at 8am. Besides, have you never heard of wind chill. What it is supposed to feel like outside is 20 to 30 degrees, and that is the high. Really now folks, where do you draw the line? What temperature is too cold?
Did you see the actual forecast?
11:21, yes I did, haven't you?NYC: Cold Week Will Lead to More SnowKristina PydynowskiBy Kristina Pydynowski, Senior MeteorologistFebruary 26, 2014; 3:32 AMMore Sharing ServicesShare | Share on facebook Share on twitter Share on linkedin Play videoWeather across the Northeast is detailed in the above AccuWeather.com video.Colder weather for New York City this week will lead to episodes of snow.Indications are that winter will be in no hurry to leave. Waves of arctic air and the polar vortex sinking southward will make for a cold end to February and start to March.Wednesday through Saturday, temperatures will then struggle or fail to reach the freezing mark. A high close to 45 F is more common in New York City this time of year.Brisk winds will create even lower AccuWeather.com RealFeel® temperatures. After a few snowflakes on Tuesday, a storm could bring a coating to an inch or so of snow and travel delays on Wednesday. Additional weak systems could bring spotty snow on Thursday and Saturday.
I blogged the forecast at 7:35 last night.Yes - games have been played in 35 degree weather. In this case, we are talking colder than that, we are talking wind and snow and we are talking about 3-4 games over a couple of days. It would not be right to go ahead with a tournament in these conditions for a number of reasons that include a) safety from injury b) safety from elements c) conditions that will not permit the players to use be their best d) miserable spectators.Soccer is a game to be played in the elements. I always content that. Wind. Rain. Heat to a point. There comes a point however where both players and parents lose any sense of enjoyment and the game cannot be played as it should. Again, there are reasons why countries with harsh winters do not play during the worst months. The play won't be good, if the ground is not snow covered. The spectators won't show. Injuries/exposure. These are adults and this is big business. They must all be wimps I guess. Nowhere as tough as we want our girls to be. Go out there girls and show everyone how tough you are. Battle the elements and prevail. Why ... so the tournament can come off and not need to be rescheduled or partially refunded.
Refund? Did your team get the insurance? If not, no refund.
Someone said "c) conditions that will not permit the players to use be their best " sounds like excuses for poor teams performance already being laid out. I wonder what team that would be?
1:16 ... why don't you just tell is what team you think it is ?The discussion seemed to be non-team specific about whether or not the tournament should even come off. But if you are taking it in a different direction, don't just throw out an unspecific jab - tell us what team you think is ready to made excuses due to the weather.
Tournament half-cancelled. Seems the top 2 flights are only playing with times after noon. Unless I read it wrong.I also have another question. NJ RUSH has NPL next to their name. Are they in the NPL? Which division... don't see them. Also, PDA Impact is PDA's NPL team? What league is their new team playing in?
NJ Rush is NPL through EDP. Don't know about Impact
I don't understand that. Care to elaborate? How do the two leagues "go together?"
Manhattan Tournament half cancelled - full refund to teams cancelled. Appreciate that.
NPL is run by US Club Soccer and has a variety of leagues throughout the country such as the NY NPL, Northeast NPL. EDP (or EDL as it's not called) is another NPL league but is the only one in the country that is not run by US Club Soccer, it is run by MAPS so it has it's own rules in terms of who it lets in. I'd be surprised if EDP lasts for too long within the NPL system.
Disappointing tournaments got cancelled. But it was the right thing to do. Early march and soccer in the northeast is a very iffy proposition. Hoping for better weather for upcoming competitions.
I don't believe the partial cancellation of the Manhattan tournament was done for the "right reason". If it was, the entire thing would have been cancelled. The cancellation was due to field conditions and not out of concern for the player's welfare. Hopefully, weather conditions will improve, however it's not likely for another month or 2.
I'm glad they cancelled the tournament because it could have been dangerous....better safe than sorry. But I have to say that it's a beautiful day here in NY. My neighbors kids just went by with no coats on their skateboards. I wonder if it had more to do with the field conditions. I'm sure the fields are in terrible shape.
No, they thought bad weather was coming in Sunday afternoon. They lost a lot of money because of a bad decision. Saturday am the temps were very low but no wind and a lot of sun.
10:41 They did the right thing according to the information they were given. This is why outdoor soccer should be scheduled for April-November in the Northeast. Scheduling soccer tournaments during the winter months is pure greed. I don't feel bad for them at all, it should have never been. I give them credit however, for canceling as it could have turned out much differently.
Looks like PDA showcase acceptances are posted:http://www.pdasoccer.org/tournaments/pdagirlscollegeshowcase/512211.html
YMS and COPA on on the list. Why?
I assume you meant "not" on the list? Happens all the time.
Why? Especially YMS.
YMS is a great team. Chose to play elsewhere. Rather go South and compete against Mid-Atlantic instead. A tough choice, but want the players to get a lot of looks from NC and Va schools. Some wonderful Tournaments and Showcases that most popular Holiday wkd. Good Luck to all!
Which tournament is that?PDA Impact is playing in the NPL. Is PDA Blue only playing Jags???
PDA Blues are playing in the Colonial League, whatever that is. Long distance travel to play JAGS level competition.
How would you know where PDA Blues are playing? How would you know the level of competition and distance?
They look like very good teams to me.
PDA Blues in ecnl(Everybody's Cash National League. Last weeks ecnl games had teams winning/losing 5-0, 6-1, not sure how that helps anyone. Extremely unbalanced league.
PDA Blues are not in the ecnl
PDA Blues had a rough weekend losing all 3 games down at Jeff Cup. Goes to show that being on a "PDA" team doesn't mean a whole lot if it's a C team.
PDA Blues had poor showing at Jeff Cup. 0-3
NJSA, stop hating. When you get placed in a competitive bracket at a good tournament please let us know.
Wow This must definitely be a PDA run blog. Any hint of negativity toward this club IMMEDIATELY GETS ERASED.
ONLY ONE pda team- O'R ALL ELSE JUST FINANCES THAT TEAM. O'R has 24 rostered players that most do not play, so the B teams and C teams are... Hey coach, O'R plays next to us today, maybe you can come watch the B team. Club say they might let me play some day on O'R, but probably not get any playing time.Only $$$$ to sit bench, but I can practice with them.
10:23 NOT an NJSA parent. Just a U15 parent checking the Jeff Cup scores for the weekend. 0-3 is not hating. It's what happened. Deal with it.
NJSA rules. Look out Matchfit Ecnl Sting's bench is much deeper with talent
It's too bad NJSA (who apparently rules) won't get the chance to play MF ECNL. They aren't in the same soccer league. (Isn't NJSA NPL? ) Nor would they match up in any tournament because of the ECNL thing. Not an MF parent by the way.
Benech players much deepr? Bench players do not play in close games. 13-14 players max. Stop trying to defend the big bucks paid by bench player's parents. Go somewhere and start, and play, and get noticed.
that to funny
Sarcasm is apparently lost on 11:47am
You can tell the season is about to begin by all the new blog posts. ha.
Watched NJSA play two games at Jeff Cup very physical on the verge of being a dirty team.
Is NJSA dirty because nobody took a shower or where their uniforms dirty from playing aaaaaaa. SOCCER
brackets looked weak at Jeff Cup , bottom of the barrel
Sting is the team that just won't let go. are there 2(?) players left from U10 or U11? every season Sting has such a turnover. some go back for a lack of better options. many stepped up from much lesser teams. I hope these girls do well but let's keep it in perspective. they dominated in the bottom flight at Jeff.
STING won the bracket, right? Didn't they beat JU? And it was the actual weekend instead of the qualifer weekend, correct? Give them some credit.
Sting looked good big and strong especially up top but if they get a ref that calls a tight game they will have issues. The coach never shuts his mouth. Obnoxious!
What up with STA 98/99 NPL?
Good question 2:09. Lose players possibly? Maybe to BEC who just beat Copa.
Why wouldn't NJSA and Match fit meet n a tourney? ? There are lots of top non-ECNL events that ECNL teams go to. One being jeff cup. They could easily meet in one of those .
Seems like the Sting acquired the player from Match Fit ECNL that was red carded in their March 9th game. So yes Sting likes them big strong and very physical
Was she kicked off MF for the red card or just fed up with the BS that is MF?
Can anyone provide specific information as to who will be the coach for new PDA team and where they will train? I might be interested. Thanks.
This place is such a train wreck of misinformation, haters and the morons that turn to them for their info. For 9:19 and 11:50 Red Card? No clue what you are talking about, no cards in MF March 9th game(fact) and no Sting player currently rostered was "kicked out" of MF(also fact). For 11:51 Come on man. You turn here to this train wreck of a forum for that information, try emailing someone from PDA let them know you are "interested" and I'm sure they'd be happy to talk with you(maybe you're just trying to stir the pot). Dopes the whole lot of you.
lol why are you on this train wreck of a forum then 12:20 that's what these blogs are for...truth and lies nobody will ever believe half the stuff on here but it can be entertaining so just enjoy
MF didn't work out, Sting did, PDA wouldn't accept basketball issues.
I'm asking about the new PDA team on this forum because clearly I want to remain anonymous at the moment. Since this soccer world is so small and nobody can keep their mouth shut when someone's kid shows up at another team's tryouts, I would like to find out some info without anyone knowing who I am and based on that information, decide where to go from there. I'm sorry 12:20 that you couldn't grasp that simple concept.
What new PDA team?
Sneeking around and trying out. Grat example. Hey missy, I am going to have you tryout with this team and that team , but don't tell any of your friends on your team. Sounds like OBAMACARE,all lies and hiding/miseading the true intentions. Gotta love NJ.Com'n man, just be up front and say you are looking at options.Sounds like pda is right for you, being one of the 20-24 rostered players just to say pda. What's in your wallet ?
Truth is there is more to playing for PDA than just being on the roster. Training, professionalism, real looks from colleges. It isn't for everyone and isn't for some that play there now, but it is an option.
PDA is also a business. They will always attract new players so no one is ever safe. They don't need to care about the human side of coaching because the talent will always be there or on its way. That is why they will get more colleges looking at them.
Hey what's up with Got Soccer giving teams points for playing in the Colonial league? Some teams got hundreds , if not over a thousand points for only playing a couple games. And they lost those games! Please tell me this is a mistake, because if its not, this is crazy!
@ March 28, 2014 at 11:26 AM.... LOL - Maybe you should have gotten your team to play in the Colonial League and then you could have gotten some point too. LMAO... Or the EDP or NPL... everyone is giving points these days. But I'm sure you knew that. Must just be a specific team getting under your skin with Colonial points.
League play should be where the majority of points come from to begin with. That is where you play with a roster, not guest players. It never made sense to me that you could go to a tournament with 5 guest players, do well and say you are the #whatever team. When in fact you are only that good with players that are not your own.
Dear 8:12. You may have missed the point which is, how can a league assign points in the beginning of a season before the majority of the games are played? And if you compared the teams and the points given to each one they make no sense. I don't see the EDP or NPL giving out points now and there are no teams "getting under my skin". I am just wondering why, when the season is just beginning, and how they determine their point system?
Maybe their season is over? I do see some outrageous points there - 2 teams got over 1100 points for playing 2 games (each) with 1 win and 1 loss!!
they will all be fixed. relax
Was Baltimore Tournament cancelled? Rescheduled?
Match Fit NPL out of state cup? What happening ?
Trouble inside the academy brewing, Heads will be flying soon.
U15 matchfit npl and U14 matchfit Berkeley coming to an end just like the fusion, no rehab here
Wildcats beat PDA blues in state cup today. Crazy that those girls pay PDA $ to be on that team.
What does nj wildcats cost?
Not $4000+ LOL
Where do you people get these figures
2400 base price400 uniform1000 extra training 400 fundraising
Don't forget tournament travel expenses: hotels, gas and meals. Real number closer to 6000 per year. More if on ECNL team because air travel is involved
What bracket is the wildcats score in. When I look at nj cup in this age bracket it says wildcats lost to linden diamonds?
The price wasn't the issue. The midfielders and forwards are not good. Won no 50/50 balls and had no speed or aggression. Defense was solid but issues up front.
New Jersey Youth Soccer State Cup
Maybe the issue is the Pda blues coaching. How his D1 athletes feel about him is eye opening
Do not get all bent out of shape. pda blues just the c team or third team within pda. Most of these players will not be playing soccer in two years. Financial support for the real teams.
I am sure that the parents on the C team don't care. They can put PDA on their resume's and get scholarships.
maybe #s 19-22 should play next time. they can't do any worse. not PDA parent BTW
NJ Wildcats Academy U15G from what I heard are mainly a new team that have already beaten this spring SJEB, NJ Rush, and now PDA Blues in NJ SC, and heading to the 1/4 Finals against NJ Stallions. I saw they lost to Linden in the US Clubs SC and don't know what happened to them in that game, as they beat Linden in EDP 2-1 this spring as well. Could be an up and coming new team to watch out for this year.
I was at the Wildcats vs PDA game SC game and it was a very entertaining soccer game to watch. Both teams were going at it all game, as the Wildcats team had the better of play and scoring opportunities as well. The game should have been over in regulation but it was a great overtime to watch. The winning goal by the Wildcats player was very nice as well. It was a pleasure to see 2 teams play at such a high level at U15. Congrats to both teams!!
Sounds like a PDA parent. Sorry your team never won a 50/50 ball. You are a kick and run team.
They are a pound and ground team with 22 girls rostered
What does pound and ground mean?? Physical?Isn't it the Ocean team taken over by Wildcats? I know there are some girls from NJX too.
Were PDA Blues parents told they were going to be the NPL team when they signed on?
PDA Impact playing NPL. Blues playing jags and colonial league but mainly losing. Impact beat them 6-0
Sorry 9:19, just say the owner of the Wildcats lives on this site and will spew out any information that he can to bring more business to himself.
It wouldn't be surprising if some of those PDA girls that live in the Wildcats area might consider that team. PDA girls might have buyers remorse now.
There are many reasons that someone would choose to play for PDA and just as many to leave.
what a joke the point system is. MFC ECNL is ranked 22 in nation and 3 in nj????? they have 9 games listed . everyone is losing all the points they had on got soccer due to the time being up.
Sitting here watching another team practice thinking about the up coming tryouts and next year and since this is a blog...What I want from a club for my child. Don't roster more than 20. Doing that shows you don't care about playing time or development. You can't get game experience if you don't even get to dress. This does NOTHING for a player's confindence. Confident players play better. It only pads the clubs checking account. There is enough "earning" playing time that can be done with 20(usually have a couple of injuries). These are kids. They want to play. No guesting or outside training policy is garbage. You are afraid your players will shop around. If you are doing your job then they are happy and just want to play more especially those that might not be getting much time. Happy players don't leave. If they aren't happy then you are just showing them the door. You might say "then let them go". Well that is just bad business and you are in it to make money right?
Bingo 18 should be the roster max
What I want from a coach for my child. Every kid is different. What works for one may not work for another. Your job as a coach is teaching skills but you also have to manage personalities. Yep, not an easy job. A team of players who know their coach truly cares about them will play better and harder to please that coach. Be hard on them but be hard on them equally. If you set rules apply those rules consistently to everyone. Treat your player as you expect to be treated. Do you want someone screaming across the field at you because you made a mistake? Talk to them. Listen to what they say. If they have goals or want to try a new position, help them. They might surprise you.
What I want from other parents...shut the hell up. LOL, sorry I can't put it any simpler and it applies to everything. Don't trash your kid's teammates. Your kid might be the issue and you just don't see it. Your kid may be the best kid or the worst kid on the team but they are part of that team. They need to respect their teammates. Stop over analyzing everything your kid does. Let them play. It's their game. Team managers. Keep your opinions to yourself. Your jobs is to help the team with paperwork/travel/gear/whatever. Let the coach worry about how they players are playing or not playing. Parents, pay your fees on time. No manager should have to chase you down to collect money weeks after it was due. FYI. I am a parent, a teacher and a coach(not soccer) of 20 years.
Matchfit and PDA take so many girls on their rosters. Its all about the money. And it sucks for the players and their development.
Here is an idea folks...REFUSE to PAY!
8:03 Sounds like Match Fit in a nutshell.
with the roster some of these teams have , there is no reason to have a quest player in any touraments eiter. enough of moving players from ecnl to a npl teams or their other inside club team. most teams now have no reason to have guest players. if a team can not get 13-15 players from its roster then dont go.
u don't get it. he means an ECNL or NPL player that doesn't get rostered guesting for another club. not a guest playing for ECNL or NPL team
Still don't get it. Issue is once a player is rostered on a team be it R1 Premier,NPL,EDP,ECNL or other, it should stay that way through the course of the season. This mix/match has got to stop. NPL teams shpould stand alone as well as ecnl teams with no extra/added players. The state should be ashamed of themselves allow teams to combine for State Cups and qualify for Regionals.
Why? What is the issue?
Anyone hear about ODP yet? The calendar says Friday, then they changed it to "no later than Sunday 4/13 at 5 PM". Well-oiled machine, or NOT!
Why should anyone "in charge" do what they say they are going to do but they'll want their money on time. Applies to more than just ODP.
Please don't be surprised. This is NJ ODP business as usual.
Or a coach could tell you he is going to do something and have it out by x time and NEVER do it.
Any predictions for NJYS or US Club State Cups?
Any score on the Copa vs Crush game?
Now that tryouts season is upon us, I know we will not be going back to MF. What a complete waste of time and money. Promises not kept, lies upon more lies. According to website training is supposed to be 3x week. They can barely hold one. They only care about you if you are on the ECNL team so if offered an NPL spot, do not accept. Training was supposed to be together for both teams. They aren't at same time or even at same location. There was no reciprocity between teams either as promised. As for all those "affiliate teams" run, don't walk away from it. Just a cash cow for the club. Fair warning to anyone who might be considering a move to this club.
12:41, now you can understand what bloggers were complaining about last year, when teams like the MF Surge were in it's conception. People were warning others back then about broken promises & lies, but were responded with statements like" oh you are just bitter because your kid didn't make the team"... They were all correct about this organization and were fortunate to get away asap, whether if not making the team, or by just not accepting membership! It is not about the players, it is all about the money & being #1. And they will do whatever they think it takes to get there. Funny how many MF supporters from last year are now on other club teams. Lol
Fair warning, PDA and NJSA have just as many issues. They all do.
okay then what club or academy? from what i heard they are all the same. all they did was break up the other team and clubs. they took apart the teams that would have competed against them. it went from paying 300-500 for a club team to over 2,800 or better for less then what you had before. i would say njsa is the better of the group. at least you get training all year and not 1 day a week. not a njsa parent.
They all have issues, NJSA has turnover every year , not a good sign at all . MF is a mess !!! Pda $$$$$$ , who merging with who. Everyone wants a piece of the action !! Look for a low cost club and pay for extra side training, your playing a half a season while in HS.
No good town teams left.
NJSA better? what a joke! owner only cares about the boys side. promises made there and never kept. allow ignorant parents to do whatever they want. they all lie to get your money. I would like an HONEST person to step up and offer us a real option. I don't mind paying if someone really cares about my kid and does what they say they will do. no 25 player rosters.like it was said before.....REFUSE TO PAY!
It is a shame that we have two major clubs in NJ, PDA and Matchfit, that have become soccer factories. They care only about profit and not players. They have multiple teams for each age group with extended rosters. Sickening
It is sickening. Also, there is no development whatsoever in Matchfit. All they do is find good players from other clubs and bring them in for their ECNL teams constantly. Their website says they can roster up to 30! 30! What is that? They don't even look to the other teams within their club which also have good players.
Just like anything else, if people did not join & pay, they wouldn't be able to roster more than they should. So what is sickening is that people continue to support these actions. The sad part is that at this age group, I am sure that most parents & players hoped to be situated with a team for the next 3-4 years. However, with all the unhappy campers & with all the new clubs & teams that are starting up, it will continue to be a revolving door.
yes it is a real shame that they get parents to believe that they are the only way their daughters will get in the best d1 schools and not have to pay for it. i wonder if they ever told the parents that unless the girls gpa's, act or sat scores are at a cetain number, the girls wont make that school.the only selling point they use is getting your daughter into college, MF ruined alot just to prove a point to PDA.D.B's ego is the death of NJ soccer
Do you think there is enough interest and players, with a good coach in the Monmouth co.? If everyone thinks we can put together a team lets do it. just no parent coach or mommy managers
I'm in. Let us know
There are plenty of good players out there with parents that are tired of the liars. Someone do the right thing for our girls and make some money! If I had the soccer background, I would.
Anyone know the scores from 4/13 state cup games? Only half the scores posted on site.
NJSA Sting knocked from state cup by a 50th ranked team. Matchfit and PDA a cut above for sure.
I guess NJSA Sting did not bring their guest players to the game (LOL)!
South Jersey Academy will dominate the shore area within a year. Quality players from Matchfit and NJSA are moving to this club
Who is South Jersey Academy??
suggestions to SJA. be DIFFERENT!<20 roster2 keepersshow up for parent meetingsu don't need to travel 6 hours until you are winning in NJ/PA/NYseems you got the ONE LOCATION for games and training. musical sites SUCKS!did I miss anything?
hey 9:15, you sound like all the other soccer know it all's out there!!Don't flap them gums you sound FOOLISH!!!
Why go to SJA when you can go to PDA Shore!
Because PDA Shore will out >20 on the roster!
just look at 11:02 response and you will know why you wont go to PDA. THAT is a PDA posting.
How much will SJA cost - Real Shore Lakewood is a better value with excellent training
real shore cost?
MEOW. yes you.
Yes, so why we should choose real shore? What makes the training excellent?
Good question, battle it out Real Shore and SJA. Give us the facts.
Maybe Real Shore has excellent training, but their team doesn't show it. They get blown away in competition.
not if they add 4-6 quality players.
They haven't played any major teams, but Real Shore Honey Badgers have a pretty good record, no?
SJA is just more unhappy coaches trying to make it on there own. SJA another soccer club we don't need in NJ, i can't even dignify call them an academy. what 3 teams going there, lol
The U15 Matchfit NPL coach is trying to take his team since he is the SJA President ( DB not happy) also several Toms River teams are looking to bolt with PDA coming in
