2 years ago pparents and players from toms river, beachwood and njsa were sold a pipe dream called matchfit ecnl. Fast forward only a few are still on ecnl and outside of 1 they don't see much playing time . The rest have vacated back to njsa ,pda impact and sja crew. The same guy that sold matchfit is now selling the crew ! Amazing . Saw the crew play this weekend , they lost to a very below average team from VA , Nothing has changed.
What tournament was played this weekend!
Oops...Meant to have a ? at the end of that question..
MSSL summer showcase in Hammonton
I find it interesting how some these same parents, who didn't like each other and badmouthed each other's kids, are back together. How long until they repeat?
The cancer of that group is now at NJSA.
With the crazy coach..........nice match.
Lol is right! That former coach plus another one, both had very successful teams, but destroyed them for the hope that their daughter would play for Matchfit ECNL. One never made it, and the other, well, does she even play soccer anymore?
U talking NJSA
TR Fusion and Beachwood. That's what their talking about. Can't you figure this out, it's always about the state championship Beachwood coach and his Jackets and TR Fusion team and there state championship. Either team is worth even talking about so let it go man.... Yes NJSA coach is a little coo koo, but what coach isn't coo koo for coaching these girls with parents like you guys.......Nutz I say, Nutz.
Nice camp Rutgers. NOT. Planned poorly and box dinners ??? Really. Maybe the new coach will care
That's a shame and poor by people running the camp. They should be rolling out the red carpet and serving lobster if they want some of these girls to consider going there. Seems to be in line with how the football program loses the blue chip recruits from schools out of state
Money grab as always. HC didnt even seem to care according to my daughter.
Which HC ? The one that just resigned or was it the so called new HC ?I could see the coach that just "resigned" not caring but if new HC, not a good way to start
Resigned? Yeah, leaving the year they join the Big Ten makes sense.
yep, work hard to get them there and then walk? only if you are afraid they won't do well?
Does anybody know why the head coach for Rutgers resigned or retired? He is fairly young to retire. Did anything happened?
Of course, but we will never know.
The Rutger's coach said he is leaving to pursue sports commentating after providing commentating for Sky Blue according to the Rutgers website. The Rutgers Women's team reigns have been turned over to Mike O'Neil who has been his assistant for years.hardly any controversy here...Mike O'Neil is also a PDA coach so the mileage issue someone referred to seems to be inconsequential.
Crooks as a commentator? He barely has a pulse as it is, how can he do that?
This may give you an ideahttp://www.ratemycoaches.com/coach.php?id=3140&name=coach-glenn-crooks
As the youth soccer calendar rolls into another year, I can't hold back from pointing out the emergence of a new number one team in the state,To all you doubters and haters of this group and of mf in general, a year ago on this very same blog, remember that the cream always rises to the top. PDA will no doubt reclaim this spot sometime soon, but for now, a quality group of girls must be recognized for what they have accomplished in such a short time together. You will continue to hear a lot of great things from this group.
Not a lot of good things said on that site.
seriously? thump your chest more dad. has your team beaten O'Reilly? until that happens and happens consistently, the best MF ECNL will be is #2. GS Rankings are exactly what they are....the only flawed system in which we have to flight teams for tournaments.
well I will be taking RU off my daughter's list of schools. LOLsounds like the new HC will have a pretty easy job. Can't treat players any badly? only place to go is up.
Yes your daughter is on their radar LOL
MF Chest Thumper...you have over 3,000 points that will drop off very soon and I see nothing to replace them. Enjoy your 2 weeks on the top!
Be honest guys, MF is a great team. PDA OR is a great team. Cant we have 2? They should play!
if that were true it would be fine.MF ECNL is not even on the same level. doubt it will happen.no, not a PDA parent.
One day it should happen. No doubt PDA is a great team. But they should stop hiding behind that wall. Come out and play some of the teams in your state, if not for your own benefit and to shut up the haters and doubters, then do it to promote the game and how it should be played. Show us all what we can aspire to.
ECNL Northeast Conference Games:March 29, 2014 -PDA 2- Match Fit 1May 1, 2014 - PDA 3 - Match Fit 0
We all know that GotSoccer points mean nothing. The original poster even stated that PDA was the rightful owner of number 1 so I don't know what the issue is. People gonna hate... no one on here can stand to hear another team get a compliment.Impressed that MF scored against PDA. Not many teams do.SJA Crew beat PDA Impact this weekend if anyone cares.
Sja ? I see from their website who is involved. And recognize some players names from other clubs in Monmouth/ocean area. Where are they based out of for games and practices?
The MF girl that scored against OReilly is now on OReilly.
That's actually wrong. Different girl. But I can't say I'm surprised that OR is still snatching players from other clubs. They have 3 other teams at this age level. Why not promote from within?
Why would PDA promote from within when they can have 4 teams generating income. Simple math. There is movement between the other teams, although it may be movement made by the players and not the club itself.
PDA Shore is now listed and they have points. I thought this was a new team but I guess they took a team in and added players to it. What team were they?
Toms River Galaxy. And I do seem to recall an announcement of a partnership between TR and PDA. This makes sense.I don't know how many girls came across.
what does it matter? MF Thunder GS spot was taken by MF North Black. as far as I know there isn't one girl from Thunder on Black's roster.why should anyone else follow GS rules?
i dont even know where the galaxy played.
is it a matter of a team/coach/admin following GS rules, or for GS to mandate and check that points are not inherited by a newly established team unless the roster contains a certain percentage of girls from a disbanding team that owned those points. Not sure what the percentage is, or how you go about proving a team is disbanding.Or even a case where a team of 16 has 9 girls leaving. 7 stay. Team stays in club. Keeps same name. Same coach and adds 7 new players. Who keeps the points ?Does the team with the 7 players lose their points. Not a likely scenario I supposed.
Did njsa form any teams. I thought they had lost all players to pad shore
SJA crew beat pda impact in a scrimmage. Impact is much weaker now - recent acquisitions were mostly non starters on their previous teams. Go NJSA Sting
SJA beat Impact at a tournament in Pennsylvania this passed weekend. West Chester tournament.
7:55, you forgot to mention how SJA Crew then lost to a 43rd ranked team in the semi-finals. In addition, beating PDA Impact is no great accomplishment these days considering they beat the Lady Dragons by only 1 goal. Keep drinking the kool-aid SJA parent.
All of the former and almost former Ecnl parent should take a chill pill. The impact and crew will not be playing against the top teams in the land. There wern't any D-1 scouts at the Westchester tournament . So just have your daughter play soccer for the fun of it. At this point even a lower D-1 school like Delaware is a reach LOL enjoy a successful HS career!
You think Delaware is a lower D1 school?
Sounds like 11:49 is a little whiner parent who has nothing better to do then bash people. So childish! My Mia is better than your Mia because she plays on the almighty ECNL team. Get a grip on life. To believe that your kid will be the only one playing D-1 soccer and all others will not is so rediculous. So many kids from non ECNL clubs are making up D-1 college rosters all over the country. You need to educate yourself before blogging such incorrect information and making yourself look like the biggest fool!
11:49 is not an ECNL parent. It's a specific attack made towards a specific child/parent and it's disgusting.
so since it is a dig at a specific kid, is it coming from another SJA parent?
Go NJSA Sting, does this team even exist anymore? I believe half the players went to MF and SJA? The only one left stranded is the player that didn't go to MF last year because she didn't make the ECNL team. Good luck NJSA Sting.
11:49 sounds like one of several parents who have always acted disgustingly entitled over the years, as if their kid is bound for glory throughout youth soccer, ODP, ECNL and then college. The end game with these louses always appears to be getting a scholarship - I can't speak for others - but in some cases, possibly, to make a good college more affordable. What goes on behind the scenes in these houses and drives to and from practices and games. Do the kids know that their performance in soccer is, in their parents minds, linked directly to their collegiate future ? There is no wonder that you can understand the mean-spiritedness of some of these girls. We've got the equation so wrong in this country and I can't change it but kids should play sports for the love of the game only. The pressures they have should be solely based on what they place on themselves to aspire and be good or great on their team or move to the next level. Higher education and sports SHOULD NOT MIX. Period. This is not the only thing wrong with US soccer youth development, but it certain one big thing, that has a cascading effect all the way down the foodchain into how coaches behave, select and play players and why we do have parents that might make a post as distasteful as 11:49.This iceberg runs much deeper - don't get me started ..... lol.
To my knowledge, NJSA Sting is just fine. Not sure why you have an issue.
sorry but Sting is the team that just won't give up. very high turnover every year.how many stayed from last season?
11:49 wrote - just have your daughter play soccer for the fun of it.Why does 11:49's daughter play soccer if not for the love of the game or fun of it ?My daughter is playing soccer because --- fill in the blank ---Two things:1. If the answer is not "for the love and fun of it" there is a problem.2. With 11:49 giving a dismissive kid is not good enough, so just let her enjoy, what are the other expectations placed upon a daughter such as 11:49's above and beyond. I would really like to hear 11:49 tell us why the girl plays.11:49's duaghter may be gifted and D1 college / national pool material. Who knows. All the best to her. But does that mean that kids who are a notch or two down (TODAY) from 11:49 should not love the game as much, want to succeed as much, want to have as good an experience of training and teammates. If the kid wants it and the parents are willing to pay for it, why not see how far this notch or two below can take her game to.What has me applauding is when the parents like 11:49 wake up one day and see the notch or two below girls has excelled beyond their kid, even though not through the exclusionary path that their daughter has taken. And make no mistake about it - This does happen, and it might happen to you. NJ soccer athletes playing in D1 schools DO NOT only come from PDA and MF or any other ECNL team. And I am sure that there are many ECNL players who do not get scholarshipts at D1 schools.
I know for a fact one MF player on an older team, was "committed" to a D1 school. Not on the college roster now. $hit happens! Be careful. It could happen to you too.
Maybe SHE changed her commitment.
NJSA lost 6 girls that I know of. They will fill their spots... they always do. And they remain a top 10 team.
6 girls out of how many? at 18 that is 1/3 turnover.....again.at a roster of 14 or 15 (not counting the ones from the B team), that is sad.
What is wrong with njsa that they consistently turn over so many. To their credit, they don't fold. But why are people always moving out.
Is SJA a new academy? Where is it out of and where will their teams be playing Jags, NPL or EDP?How is the training and player development?very important questins before you commit to a team for the year!!
SJA = last year's MF U15 NPL coach went on his own. took his favorites (mostly former MF Surge players) with him. his niece and the keeper are two that left NJSA to join him.player dev?
5:19 re: SJA player dev, not likely. There was none with coach at MF. Can't see it happening with his new team.
11:03 you are dead on. No player development what so ever! Just keep recycling the same players and hope to steal/bs new players to join the team. News alert, the time for your players to gel is running out.
that is what the ? was for
Did BEC u16 fold?
yes, I heard they had a team coming in to fill so NJ Stallion has a U16 team.
Where's the new team from? A "take over" or just a bunch of new girls?
pay attention coaches....http://www.socceramerica.com/article/59821/shannon-macmillan-a-world-champs-view-on-coachin.html
I believe it is an existing team that is moving over. don't know which one or if it actually happened( or is happening).
Thanks for the Macmillan post. My sentiments are similar. However, her focus today appears to be on 9-10 year olds. Not sure if she has been involved in coaching at the more advanced youth ages (let's say U13 and older). So what she is saying holds true, but it gets more and more difficult to adhere to that belief system, and stay around as a coach, unless you produce results. There are far too many forces working against the right approach. Parents need to see wins. Clubs need to see wins, as this is how they attract more players. So short-cuts are taken and compromises are made, even for the coach who knows what is right and believes like Macmillan. Problem with our system - we allow results to matter too early in the stages of development and because of this, our players are getting the short end of the stick while coaches try to build winning teams. Whether it is a school coach pushing for a win, a U10 youth coach pushing for the win or a U15-16 coach doing the same, the results they push for are to serve some purpose that is really not player development - it could be to protect their job, could be to get customers, could be to show parents that they are able to bring the team to a level where colleges might be interested. In a soccer successful country, you have none of this, which leaves the development of the player to the forefront until the time the player makes the highest level pro team. Please let's not get into how successful US Women have been within this same framework and circumstances. The US women success has come in spite of all of the things mentioned above. Not because of it. Other countries who have men's systems will catch up, as long as the interest is there on the women's side - they will employ what has worked for their men. Anyway, ask yourself the question - Do you think we would be developing any lesser soccer players if most/all coaches were able to control themselves and behave as Macmillan suggests ? Forget about the infrastructure we're not gonna get rid of including the clubs, the parents and the fact that college education can be tied into success in sports ... Or another way to ask the question ... Do the puppeteer coach and the coaches and orgs who do place a higher premium on the win than on development ... do they benefit the players more than if they were in an environment that truly was development oriented ?Lastly, before we jump all over wins are not bad, I do not mean to say players should not try to win and compete to their best when on the field and in practices. And I do not mean to say that players should not be encouraged to do their best to create and defend, to score and to prevent goals, which if they are successful, will result in more wins than losses. I am not trying to dampen the spirit of competition or the desire to compete and excel, as all of these things are VERY, VERY important components in the development of these players. Quite the opposite - These things are essential. I am just saying it would be great if we could change the system to have these things, while the aforementioned driving forces started leaning more towards true development and away from short-sighted winning.
Shame about BEC. They always impressed me as a nice team, well coached.
What happened to the Charge?
Well, for the most part, we are a nation of soccer idiots.
Looks the the BEC team has been completely replaced. The new BEC roster on the website doesn't have one player from last year's team but is still called BEC. Anyone know if this team came over intact from another club?
I guess the BEC team broke up end of the season. I spoke to a parent of one of the girls at a tryout, seems like they were all looking.
Any idea where the new BEC team came from?
With the common lack of technical and tactical training received by the girls during hs soccer season, just wonder what if anything others do with their daughter so as not to have these next few months be a total loss in their development. Private or group training. Pickup games. So little time left over but such a shame the girls need to suffer this.
My daughter's team trains on Sundays. They also are playing tournaments starting with WAGS in October. We debated having her skip HS this year and privately train with her club coach but decided against it. Definitely was a hard decision for all the reasons you listed.
Skipping HS ball - if it didn't have the stigma associated with it ... I would consider it. From a pure soccer perspective it is:a) better that they play then do nothing.b) better that they train 2-4 times a week with some scrimmages than play HS soccerAbove is a general opinion - I imagine there are a couple good HS coach spread around. If you decide not to play one year, it could shut the door on the rest of HS, so you have to be sure.
What scares me the most about HS soccer is the potential for injury. The coaches do not really mind that some players ride the bench and others play the entire game. Some players lack skill and when up against a skilled player their only defense is to take it to a physical level. These factors create situations where highly skilled players get injured.
9:08 you are correct. Also, many of these coaches have no idea when it comes to resting the players. They can have a game one day that goes into OT then even PKs and then run them hard the very next day instead of giving them a break with a lighter practice. This is why so many girls are so banged up when it comes time for club in the late fall.
As a general rule- hs soccer is sub par- chance for stupid injury is higher due to reason previous poster gave- hs coaches run kids far too much- hs coaches do not understand the game very well. Yes they know the rules. Yes they know how to tell a girl to get the ball out wide. Yes they can orchestrate a corner kick. But they do not know how to develop skills and minds.- hs coaches' bottom line is the win - more so than travel coaches who have a better chance of caring about development and player retention year after year. A hs coach knows these players are just passing through his program.
As usual there are bitter misinformed people commenting about things they do not know. I am a little behind but not ashamed to say I am affiliated with PDA Impact and we do not have an all new team and returned most players with a few good additions. How these people claim they know these rosters is beyond me and just ridiculous. With that said, we played SJA in a very competitive game and they are a very good team, period and much different than when they played us as MF NPL U15. They simply outplayed us but people want to make comments when they were not even there and do not know teams and I am sure it is always the same bitter person that everyone on here talks about. People really should stop talking about other teams and just worry about their own.
SJA!! There you have it.
Sja there u have it. What the heck is that supposed to mean?
7:30am poster. Someone is finally making a logical comment instead of bashing a I team or player and you have to be a jerk? You are way too into little girls soccer but probably because you are trying to live through your daughter. Just be happy with whatever team YOU chose for your daughter and leave everyone else alone.
To 6:44 PDA impact parent - first off rosters are easily available to see on gotsoccer and elsewhere so it is clear who left the team and who got sucked in by new coach - who by the way was very unethical with his recruiting....calling players from his *former team* and making all kinds of promises. The sh** has yet to hit the fan, my friend.
So it is normal to memorize other team rosters so you know who is new? That is very strange and borderline stalker/predator. Get a life.
PDA Impact had players say they were going to leave but didnt. Maybe that is where the confusion is. ALl PDA teams continue to recruit at this age, right up until they need to make a fixed roster. At that point they begin to recruit all over again.
8:21am poster, you are so right. 6:44pm poster, great post. We need nice positive comments here. As for the 7:30am and 10:03am post, people do not go crazy. It is most likely the old Beachwood coach who is bitter over the choices he has made making theses two posts and feels like everything he says and does is always right and everyone else is wrong. Just because his team has fallen apart, he feels the need to say how bad every other team is. Every player and parent is entitled to make their own choices and nobody else should tell them they are wrong or say negative things about the team they went to,. Let's keep in perspective that these are 15 and 16 year old girls but as was said, some people are just way too into it and trying to live through their daughter. If everyone here would ignore the Beachwood coach, hopefully he will go away and stop posting his negative comments so we can have some good soccer discussions.
Sooooooo you want positive comments and you throw someone under the bus. You must be a joy on the parents sideline.
At 2:13pm. I was not throwing anyone under the bus just stating what was said many times earlier in this forum that everyone believes it is him. Maybe if parents would grow up and stop trying to live through their kids, none of this would be said. We all know that will not happen. I am sure you have the best player on the best team in the world so good luck with that. We all know you are most likely the parent everyone tries to get away from.
3:17. Again nothing positive. You are a walking contradiction. You may also want to come up with your own insults and show some creativity You are a farce.
I can't believe people on this forum fight over choices others make to play on different teams. Good or bad, there is not enough room on one or two teams for every girl in this age group and there are a lot of good players who do not want to sit the bench or travel 100 miles to practice because a coach at a place like MF plays his rich favorites. Just let the girls play!!!
It is funny how someone mentioned SJA lost to a 43rd ranked Virginia team. Maybe these people should learn to read, it was a 13th ranked VA team. These rankings in the summer are not very good to depend on. SJA was ranked in the 40's at that time but were not a team that should have been there, just no GS points. Look at SJA losses, none to a 43rd ranked team and from what I was told, both loses came on PK's. Nobody seems to mention how SJA beat a PDA team who recently made it to the NPL National Championship Semis. Obviously there are people on this forum who just want to bad mouth a team for no reason.
SJA! SJA! Keep drinking the SJA kool aid. SJA coach makes lazy players.
August 19, 2014 at 10:03 AM Unethical! I can assure you zero phone calls were made from former coach to players on that team. You get a call? Stop lying and making up fabrications.Find another way to justify whatever you are trying to justify! The couple players that did leave; left because they made a family choice based on what it should always be about.... And that is doing right by your kid and doing what's best for them. Period! Shame on you!
Dear 8:30am, as you stated that SJA was previously ranked in the 40's, so was the VA team that you played at that time. They were not ranked 13 when SJA played them.. Congratulations for beating Impact #13 by 1 goal. It remains to be seen how SJA will do when they play against better teams. I do not believe that they will do very well, as SJA is basically the recycled former Surge team with a few additions. The Coach failed miserably with the Surge, so I can't wait to see what magic he will perform here. And btw, I can read perfectly fine and for the most part, people do not bad mouth a team/coach for no reason.
8:57, shame on you for your ignorance. Coaches do contact players/parents whether it is in person or through email or phone calls. I know this because it occurred with my daughter on a few occasions. Unethical, yes, but it does occur.
Why is it unethical? EVERY coach would take on a new player if they felt they could help. NO player will leave their current team if they are happy, so if they leave they were not happy.
12:28, otherwise known as Beachwood Coach, that VA team is the same VA team that your team struggled with at Fort Dix and got a lucky bounce to win the game 1-0. SJA lost to them in PK's so that means when your team at NJSA barely beat them they must have been ranked worse than 43? If you look at the points they earned from the win over SJA and subtract, there is no way they were 43 in VA prior to that win.
By the way, 12:28, learn to read. 1:12 is correct. They moved up four spots after the SJA win from 17 to 13 so they were 17 at the time of that game, not 43.
1:05. I believe there are rules against poaching, therefore making it unethical. Whether or not the player accepts or declines is irrelevant. That's why there are tryouts-outs, to find new players. Coaches should not be going after another team's players. Some will not do this personally, but do it via managers, team parents...
They cant make them leave. They are not asking them to leave until their 1 year commitment is over. They wont listen if they are happyThere is no such thing as poaching, just dont answer the phone.
Returning to play for NJSA would have been a much better option then traveling across the state to play for PDA impact , just look at the coaching difference. Another questionable choice
1:05 It's unethical when lies are told to entice players.
wow u folks have been busy. can't wait till I am done with this nightmare called youth soccer.still waiting to hear how 25 player rosters are good for development.
Well there you have it 4:43. You just described the MF Surge/SJA coach amoungst others.
define the lies, you cant.
Who cares if lies or unethical, the problem is that he can't coach/train/ develop players
That is your opinion. The only way you would know is if it didnt work out with your daughter. Take a step back, maybe your daughter didnt work hard enough. Maybe your daughter peaked.
"maybe your daughter peaked" ...what are we talking about here ? First off, there are our kids - not horses or pro athletes.2nd ... no kid should "peak" at 15 years old, unless they lose their desire to work on the game. Physically, perhaps they have matured and they may not get much stronger or not much faster. But peaking in terms of game and tactical understanding, skills ... no way. As long as the desire to keep working and keep learning is there, there is soooo much more growth that can be had by all of these girls, as they find their niche in the game and what position then gravitate to and excel more at, they can focus on making the most of what they have physically by learning more and challenging themselves to grow their skills and knowledge. So many levels of play for so many girls.Peaking my Behind.Such a primitive thought to think that the physical peaking in soccer is of any great import. But not surprising considering all the blogging over the years about how fast and physical, the American way of dominance in sports, is the most important things. I have lots of axes to grind here, but no horse in the race of all of this south jersey, matchfit, njsa, beachwood hatfield and mccoy nonsense we've seen out here the last few days.
yep, has to be the kid's fault. most coaches do not know how to teach. yes they can run the drills. there is so much more to being a good teacher.
Yes, blame the trainer/coach. It is never the players responsibility. They never get out worked. They never lack desire.
You dont think that players peak? Some sense of realism you have.
Of course players peak. It's not our job to be sitting back her like some jerks thinking they know anything about e game to decid event that peak time time. Peaking like I said ... Horses and pro athletes. Maybe mountains. Not kid athletes. But the physical peak A 16 year old girl has should not be her peak as a player. If it is, the something has gone wrong in her development. And trust me ... I am realistic enough to understand that what lowers and accelerates a peak for these kids are stupid parents, bad coaches and a lousy system for development which deprives many girls from the opportunity to truly fall inlove with the game and develop the soccer minds to their potential instead of just concentrating on the all too simplistic physical aspects of the game that win games at youth level.
anyone ever see the "worst" player on the team become a star? a little confidence and encouragement by the coach can go a long way. nothing changed except she was given the opportunity to excel. or a great player's confidence shot to hell by a coach? suddenly they can't do anything right.
Worst player on a team become the best? No I never saw that. If you are to be honest, you have not either.
learn to read. I didn't say best, I said STAR. many games have one. it's nice when it's someone new.
7:45 Sounds like your threatened by a kid that could be better with that "little bit of encouragement" and "confidence building"?
And why not the best. It can happen. Of course often times those trying to prove a point for themselves talk in extremes. An is the real world exists mostly at the edges in black and white, simple minds forget all the of Sade's of grey in the middle where the real world lives. The better question would be ... Ever seen a weaker and smaller player at u9grow into a skilled, skater and effective player at u12 and then grow into one of the better players on her team at u15 due to her catching up to previously dominant players in size, speed, strength and confidence and exceeding them in skills and smarts. Naaaaah. Coud never happen...right.Who would you rather have on your team as a coach? Who has the bigger upside for u16 and thereafter? Who is more likely to have peaked, using that ridiculous concept some of you are inclined to use.Skills, intelligence, desire, potential are all fluid things .. They are not written in stone and they are influenced by parental and coaching attitudes, philosophy, intelligence, patience or the lack thereof.
837 adding that if you are a coach that does not believe what I wrote ... That you can have this degree of impact ... Stay away from my daughter, and for the good of our soccer youth, find another way to earn your money.
8:37 keep dreaming and of course you will.
Looked at some PDA rankings today. Blues, who came over as a Marlboro heavy team is now ranked lower then when they were just Marlboro. So much for that great training I suppose.
1007 - why is it that when you don't agree but have nothing substantial to say, you give a one lines which adds nothing at all to the topic ?Is this your tactic to try to end a conversation with you being right or a victor ? Differences of opinion are normal on blogs. But mature discussion goes out the window when one side folds their arms, says I'm right, your wrong (i.e. keep dreaming) and turns their head the other way.Why do you think I am dreaming ? What is it about my opinion that seems so unrealistic ? That we can possibly have parents and coaches in this country evolve to a higher level of soccer understanding where they might actually create an environment more conducive to development ? Is that what it is ? If so, maybe you are right. We do need more open-mindedness for this to happen, so until we can overcome certain bad traits, you are right, we won't get there.
like I've said before, the better Marlboro players went elsewhere and not to PDA.
Stevie, Stevie, Stevie in your words, please exit stage right.
PDA Blues are a poor team. Parents who went there with the attitude of the grass is greener are now left a little red faced and probably too embarrassed to go back to their old teams.
What old teams ? Most of them disbanded.
SJA coach has a ton of D-1 connections. Including maryland and long beach state
thought his daughter was going to play for Maryland? not on the roster??
Long beach state. Monkeys get admitted there
I think his daughter might be playing for Ocean County College
What, she's not on the D1 Maryland roster 5:21? Proud papa use to brag to us parents how she was signed as a HS sophomore to Maryland. Not surprised actually... I just hope it's not due to any injury or health issues.
6:25 AM - I sure hope you are talking about Mike Nesmeth and Peter Tork. Otherwise, you comment is extremely rude. This is what you come out with at 6:25 am ? Did your spouse pass wind under the covers this morning ?
The fact that you are speaking about a specific child and her college choices on the Internet is extremely creepy and very scary. This should not be allowed. Imagine if it was your daughter someone was talking about. Disgusting And you looked up the roster to see if she was on it?? Stalker. I hope this child is okay and that it was not an injury that kept her off the roster.
I just love how people point out how rude or negative someone's comment is, and then finish their post with a rude or negative comment! Lol
God you people are sick!! Sick in the head! Get a life already. Are you that shallow that you must worry about someone elses kid? You are an embarrassment to your own daughter and family. Youth soccer at its finest!
The NJSA coach is an actual college coach who has a network of D-1 connections
passing wind is an immature comment for sure, but I think there was a point behind the joke ... that someone woke up with an extremely crabby outlook and came on here posting nasty stuff.get some perspective. You cannot equate the hurtful insult you might have given someone to a generic, joke-comment about passing wind .... unless of course your spouse really did let loose, and then you may have a problem which we should not dig any deeper into on this forum .... lol. There is a HUUUUUUUUGE difference between bathroom humor and mean-spirited personal attacks.
while the ignorant comments are not needed and are irrelevant, the fact that a coach says he has college connections and then his daughter is not on the roster for the school she committed to as a sophomore is relevant. she might have changed her mind. she could be injured. she might not be eligible for grades. M could have changed their mind. lots of things could have happened or his connections might not be what he says they are. only the future will tell. players are listed on GS rosters, TDS database, college rosters, recruiting sites. Google their name. I bet you'd find a FB, Twitter and other accounts. if you think it is creepy and it bothers you that much, maybe you should reconsider your decisions.
Once again stop with D-1 dream - enjoy the high school glory , unless your daughter is on PDA OR or Matchfit ECNLor NJSA. Those coaches will get their players into the right colleges
8:16pm. How do you know what coaches know D1 coaches? I think you'll find other clubs besides PDA, NJSA and MF know D1 coaches well and get their players into those places. To think otherwise is naive.
NJSA couldn't keep a girls team past U16 and the only really successful team they had was Blast, who they don't even bother to list on their "Champions" page as Region I winners. proving once again that only the boys count.now partnered with Cedars Stars who has less of a girl's program than NJSA had?not seeing a formula for success there. PDA and MF have 3 teams in each age (sometimes 4). that is AT LEAST 75 girls for each club. of course they are going to have a large # at DI and DII schools.
How many rising u16 girls do we know who are already committed? I know of 3.. 2 incoming sophomores and 1 incoming junior. I told my daughter I want her to wait until at least the end of jr. year. What are your thoughts?
How can they commit when coaches can't talk to them
NJSA is not a club I would list with PDA for getting your daughter into a college program. Their girls program has been on a steady decline and more keep leaving. They may not even be able to field a U16 team this year. Merging with Cedar Stars was death to the girls program. NJSA coach is a low level assistant for a boys college team and may know some coaches but trust me, there are a lot of coaches out there with D1 connections, even some you would not think could have them.
players can call/email DI/DII coaches but coaches can't return calls/emails. coach has to answer the phone, then you can talk.communicate through club coachprevious relationship- private training/ODP/club coach- you can talk to coach at any time. DIII coach can call you at any time.
Commit....until they change their mind. It means nothing.
NJSA coach will tell you he knows everyone. I can tell you he knows more coaches than I do but that aint saying much at all. How do you say blow hard.
I know you don't put your name on these posts, but I am sure if you did there would be much less. Be careful who you accuse of posting...if you don't know it to be true, be careful
Accuse of posting? What do you mean?
I can not believe all this bs over YOUTH soccer. Who gives a shit what decision we make for our kids. If it is what our kids want who is anyone to judge. Everyone should just stop this crap and grow up. Let's be realistic there is no professional path for the girls so if the play in college or not is a form of tuition assistance. Everyone should be talking to the girls about life after soccer not who plays where and who is doing what. Teach them to be better than then parents bashing on this site.
That was heart warmingblah blah blah
I am not sure how anyone can "claim" to know who is posting which post unless it was a direct conversation you had with that person. for the person that seems to have special powers...what club does my kid play for? LOL
945 - I had a bit of a hard time following your post. But I get the picture and I do agree with you.949 - I had no problem at all following your post. It was very clear and shows me that the blah blah blah queen is back. If you have nothing of any substance, why do you bother commenting ?
Mr. Schmuck here, be grateful that your daughter is heathy, willing to play,,have love for this sport. If you as a parent can afford this sport be grateful. Remember this enjoy watching your kids play. Soccer is a small fraction of their lives.some will play in college and some won't. Enjoy these moments because they will be history soon. Some of you need to stop living your dreams through your daughters. Sit back and watch your daughter play and enjoy it.
Tragedy in south jersey today when four girls headed to charity tournament were hit by another car who drifted over the centerline. One girl very critical and not a very good prognosis. Keep your perspective people. This is a time we should all enjoy our children playing a game they love.
Very sad to here. We should keep things in perspective and enjoy our time with our daughters. They grow up way to fast.
I just looked on the SJA website and their mission statements is word for word the same as PDA..even down to the scholarships partHow can you take a club seriously when they have just cut and pasted their "philosophy" from another club..I get PDA is the one to follow but use some brains here!!Alarm bells for me if that is where's daughter was, clearly a disaster waiting to happen...
Good job SJA, you really are that dumb.
I'm shocked - Southern beat Pinelands 3-0 go figure!
What is so shocking about that?
Curious to get opinions ... Please no trashing or comments to this post that don't answer the question ... Who is the best coach-trainer at this age taking into account skills development, tactical and game intelligence development, positive demeanor with girls, playing them at right level in right tournaments ... Can we name names of coaches out here. I know girls are verboten.
since you cannot name names without deletion...you question is worthless.
The question is priceless, DH. The answers would be worthless. Yours is less than worthless.
Let's try something out and see if the moderator lets it stand. Here I am identifying some coaches. I am not claiming they are good or bad. Just naming them.1. Coach of PDA O'Reilly2. Coach of MF ECNL3. Coach of Jersey United4. Coach of COPA Celeste5. Coach of PDA Blue6. Coach of STA7. Coach of NJSAThere. Some coaches have been identified. We can all look up the names if we need to.Can I state opinions here such as the STA coach is brilliant. Or the PDA O'Reilly coach is just OK - he is good at motivation but not a very good tactician ... just for instance.
The best coach in NJ is NJ Crush coach by far.. What he has done with the talent he has been given and PDA/MF departures is by far the best coaching job I have seen.
MF ECNL coach just takes new girls that are really fast. Doesn't really take skilled soccer players other than what he started with. He is definitely not a foot skills guy, but he is a tactician in that he takes speedy girls who try to beat the defense. Doesn't belong on the list in my opinion if you are truly looking for a good coach.
Good question 11:15pm. I'd be curious to know peoples thoughts on coaches within the top teams in the State.
You are obviously a Blues parent. Blues dont belong in that group of teams by any means.
10:52am. Agreed, PDA Blues are 15th in State and IMO fortunate to be that high! Mediocre and not worth putting into this discussion
I would say that a good coach is someone who is consistent. Dont allow a player to only show up for what they can make because they play a different sport. At this age and level you need to have commitment and when you bend the rules for one, others will leave. You as a coach lose credibility. Proof is in the lack of teams that one of these clubs has in this age group.
The description of the mf ecnl coach would be the epitome of what is wrong with us youth soccer. So the mf girls are going to get good attention as a team for a few years but it surely seems they are being cheated and not getting their money on the development side. Is this true? Imagine what a good coach could do with nice talent like that. Do the parents know this? If they are mostly paying top mf dollars to get their girls a scholarship then I guess it doesn't matter that they are being deprived of the chance to maximize their potential.
7:01 True story re: MF ECNL coach. He TOLD the parents that he is not a foot skills coach. He is more tactical. Unfortunately his tactics are a bit unethical and certainly, as you say, depriving the girls of maximizing their potential.
Not a foot skills coach ?Isn't that like a track coach for 100m dash telling parents he is not a speed coach ? It's like a law professor telling his students he doesn't teach law. Look - I think I get where this guy is coming from. He might be saying to the girls - work on your skills on your own. When you come here, we are going to be working on team play and tactics. I think the older you get, you will see much more of that. Time permitting maybe this guy would work in some skills, but then the tuition would double. There is NEVER a time in a soccer players career when footskills should be de-prioritized. Even the best keep working on them and trying to get better. But to say ... I'm not a footskills coach. Youth soccer idiocy is alive and well in NJ.And this is supposedly the best MF has to offer.
The MF coach probably wants to charge extra for foot skill training on a separate night similar to what the SJA coach does . Go NJSA their coach includes foot skills in their regular training
1:53pm. Go anywhere besides MF and the coach should include foot skills in regular training!
1:53 you played for the SJA coach. You know he does all foot skills every practice for the whole first half of every session. Now you bash SJA. It's funny how you know so much about the SJA program, weren't you negotiating with the SJA program. Then everything back fired on you? Your right go NJSA. Good luck this year. I think it's time to stop living thru your kid. Let it be her time. Leave the coaches alone, including her HS coach. Typical parent that has to be in everyone's pocket to help your kid succeed. She will succeed without your help, you are just holding her back.
NJSA just post players are needed. You might be better off rather than bashing MF, SJA and everyone else. Don't you have jackets to buy for your 10 players at NJSA like you did for your daughters HS team?
You really believe that the MF coach doesn't work on foot skills? You are foolish.Back to the original question about coaches. The MF ECNL is definitely an amazing coach. He took a group of girls who had never played together before to #2 in their division, behind only OR. Took them to National Semi-finals. He's coached the U18 team since they were 7 years old to multiple National titles. Give credit where credit is due please. I don't know him, but I know what he has done and can do. I wish my daughter could play for him.I'm sure he has certain types of girls he is looking for for certain positions. Maybe the girl you know that he took, he took for a certain reason. I know he took girls from YMS and NJSA. I have a feeling they are coming with some talent. Clearly the PDA OR coach is good as well. I don't know anything about him except that even at u10 he had those girls passing and playing positions like no other team out there. His list of accomplishments is endless.I actually think my daughters coach is a great coach. They are not a top 10 team, but without him they may not even be in the top 25. You can't equate high rankings to a good coach.. depends on the talent that is given.
Will Pinelands win a game this year? I mistakenly thought they would be a power in 2014
5:18 Please check your facts. The MF ECNL coach NEVER won a National Title for his now U18 team at any age group. Yes, they made it to Nationals, but the title has been elusive for him. (yes I said him, not them!) HE DOES NOT TEACH FOOTSKILLS. He, himself, stated that. He picked up a bunch of skilled players for his now U16 team, but that's what he got, NOT made. Since then, on both teams, he consistently picks up FAST girls, not necessarily girls with ball skills and he doesn't train them in ball handling. If they have both, it's a bonus.
if he is such a great coach then why did so many players leave that they had to tap into the NPL team for 3 players? all of which REFUSED to move up. NPL felt like the ugly stepchild. MF always takes players from the lower teams leaving those teams struggling with continuity and success. curious and please answer ONLY if you know for sure:how many of those U18s were on the U7 team?
Agree with post from last week about the NJ Crush coach being excellent. Let's see what happens this year after losing 4 more players to ECNL. Lost nearly full roster in last few years to ECNL, maybe ECNL clubs should use him for training. Crush has become a feeder club for ECNL, what a shame.
10:58 If I am reading your post correctly, you are asking how many U18s are still left from u17 team? If so, all of them. He did "lose" a few to college, but he picked up ONE from the NPL team (which he rarely does, because he goes outside the club continually for players), he picked up ONE from the older group (must have been playing up?) Additionally, he has one player who is carded to both the MF and another club's team--non MF (at least she was last season. . how is that allowed?) He has a roster of 27 but that includes some of the girls that are presently playing in college. I guess he expects them to play in the spring when they return.
no, not U17.someone stated he's coached the U18 team since U7 (seven). I was curious how many girls have been on that team since U7 (SEVEN)? if there aren't any than the statement is irrelevant.there is ONE player on NJSA Sting that has been there since the team started at U10. that is only 7 years and only 1 remains.
There are quite a few left on the team believe it or not. Maybe 8. I wonder how many original OR girls are from the original team? I know at least 4. I have personally seen the ECNL u16 (then u15) working on foot skills at an indoor facility last winter. So I don't know where you got your info. And if you insist that you heard it from the coach, then you must have misunderstood.NPL players not moving up to ECNL for a game or two had nothing to do with the coach. Only a few left , a normal turn over, mostly based on play time I'm sure. Or maybe they were cut, who knows. But you can compare the rosters and see that there wasn't much turnover. I'm sure the Crush coach does the best with the talent that he has left. They had a rough season in the NPL last year. With the recent loses to ECNL, it should be interesting to see how they do this year. I have heard good things about the coach. What about the Jett Cobra coach? I have heard great things about her... I believe it is a her... Jenny B Elite training or something like that. They came out of nowhere to become a top 10 team. Thoughts?
5:41 I misunderstood. Remaining on now U18 ECNL team from when they were U7 are 2 players. 3 if you count the one who left for college but is still age eligible when she comes back in spring.Lot's of turnover during the years and as is his practice always looking for the next fastest player to add to his roster, and he does have a quite a few.
This blog cracks me up. One says 8, one says 2. I actually know 4 original girls. So who knows the correct answer... and who cares.I'm surprised OR is still picking up girls at this age. They just took another National Pool player from u17 Rush. The rich get richer.
There are only 2 (3) original girls. FACT. The question was from the U7 team. That's all that's left.
2-3 out of a normal MF roster of 25? doesn't say much about development if many of the original team is still playing.
How many of our daughters are still playing with people from their original team at u7? Not many I bet. Like someone mentioned above, there are at least FOUR original Colts, but perhaps 2 have gone to college and one is no longer age appropriate. There are also many that joined u8, u9 etc. No one answered the question about original OR girls. I am curious to know. I think they formed at u8 or u9. The National pool player they just picked up is also in the running for All American. I have never seen her play but she must be amazing.
Appears that BEC took over the Force FC of NYE to fill it's u16 spot.I know a few girls from the original team went to World Class, Crush, and their best player to PDA Blues. I wonder what the motivation behind all of this was and where the rest of the girls will end up.
2:25pm. If their "best" player went to Blues then that BEC team wasn't that strong
She's actually a very good player. Not sure why she chose to go there. I was wondering as well.
