U16B - Competition is thick, diverse and talented

What can we say? This age bracket attracts a lot of attention and several teams have very different rosters going into Fall 2014.

Better than ever.

Region 1 at this age bracket offers a lot of talent at the top of the rankings.
U16 Boys soccer is where the action is.

Poor showing by STA and even a worse showing by Howell this weekend. Rider Cup guys, you are supposed to win this. STA has been playing well so they get a pass but Howell has done nothing all year with the exception of winning a poor EDP flight. Hopefully the new players you picked up can play soccer.

Anonymous said...

Maybe Howell was missing players? Who knows.

Anonymous said...

Is SSC still considered a good team?

Anonymous said...

Of course they are, why do you ask?

Anonymous said...

Howell needs more than new players to be competitive. I'm willing to bet they received more cards than goals….

Anonymous said...

How did the NJ teams do in the Regionals? I cant find results.

Anonymous said...

NJ Force applied for the Super Group, but were placed in Premiere.

Anonymous said...

Force, that is NOT true. If you applied for one or the other that is what you get placed in. If you meant super and applied for premier they will not switch you. They will not.

Anonymous said...

Force is inconsistent. Flashes of brilliance at times but a weak bench makes them not as well rounded as most in the top 10. Winning the lower brackets with convincingly might help their cause the next time around.

Anonymous said...

Force has a couple of really good players. The problem they have is that they dont train with other really good players. They really should challenge themselves elsewhere.

Anonymous said...

I agree.

Anonymous said...

Regional update??

Anonymous said...

Marlboro in semis on Mon. v. Delaware Rush. Sdfc eliminated.

Anonymous said...

Great job by Marlboro winning all 3 games in group play and advancing. Tough weekend for SDFC with 2 ties and a loss - only scores 1 goal and gave up 2. Good luck to Marlboro in the semis.

Anonymous said...

how do loudoun red, fsa, mass stars and sdfc end up in same bracket? none of the weakest nh, vt, me, ri or wv in that bracket? good luck to malboro

Anonymous said...

Random draw. No crazy scores so all 16 seem fairly equal. Loudon still the favorite

Anonymous said...

Here's how I see it. My sons team didn't make regionals I would hope that any nj team would do well because that makes my sons team look better. Looking at the scores SDFC did fine and Marlboro is in the semis. Good luck

Anonymous said...

SDFC had a tough draw..outclassed but a great effort..let's go for the sweep Marlboro!

Anonymous said...

Marlboro lost 2-0 in the semi-finals. Loudon and Delaware in final. Good effort Marlboro!

Anonymous said...

Well done Marlboro.

Anonymous said...

SSC wins today on the march to nationals

Anonymous said...

Would much rather have Marlboro or SDFC representing NJ..could get pretty ugly.

Anonymous said...

Ugly? What do you mean?

Anonymous said...

SSC lost to PDA? Wow! I am shocked. Can someone give details of that game?

Anonymous said...

PDA scored more goals

Anonymous said...

You can say the US lost today because of what goes on right here, right now. Parents give no time for development at the younger ages because we are all consumed with the win, then as you move up, expect to pay outrageous prices for coaches from overseas who could really care less but to win and get paid more or to nail down a green card. ODP is a total joke in this state. 300 million people in this country and we can't produce a world class competitive soccer team. Seriously, we're screwed up from the bottom up.

Anonymous said...

Says PDA

Anonymous said...

SSC a top team? PDA national champs then

Anonymous said...

Odd result. Congratulations to PDA.

Anonymous said...

PDA sorry but SSC falcons one step closer to nationals. We will prove nj strong

Anonymous said...

SSC will embarrass NJ. You heard it here first.

Anonymous said...

Will SSC be the only team at nationals ranked #8 in their state?

Anonymous said...

Did they win? Scores not posted.

Anonymous said...

SSC will be just fine. Good luck to all local teams

Anonymous said...

851: do you really think there are seven NJ teams better than SSC in this age group. C'mon really? Rankings fluctuate as teams loose points after a calendar year. falcons will be fine and get back up there soon.

Anonymous said...

NY Hota Thunder and SSC Falcons both advance to US Club Nationals as final called because of severe storm.

Anonymous said...

Why did SSC lose the points? Because they didn't win. So yes

Anonymous said...

Will SSC bring guests.

Anonymous said...

SSC didn't win the tournament. Lost to PDA and goes to nationals. Seems about right

Anonymous said...

you guys are still talking about state cup and all this nonsense. play academy an see how competitive it is

Anonymous said...

Spoken like a duped NJSA believer...

Anonymous said...

PDA? MF? NJSA? All good teams but none would run over the top club teams. Redbulls are the only real academy.

Anonymous said...

If you ever need a really good laugh go watch Marlboro play and just sit back and watch their so called "coach" and the 90 minutes of nonsense from him on the sideline. Someone should get him some big shoes and a red nose to go with his sideline act.

Anonymous said...

Sounds like someone is a little jealous of Marlboro's consistent success.

Anonymous said...

Not a Marlboro fan but someone needs a life. No one was talking about Marlboro so that post is out of the blue and not provoked. We play Marlboro quite often and at the beginning it was not always a pretty scene. Over the years the parents and the players all seem to get to know one another and now the games are very competitive yet not out of order. To "pick" on Marlboro now does not seem to be the right time. Won both State Cups, went to the regional semi's and will be playing in Nationals. Who knows where they will go but spring of 2014 was their season. They lose 2 players and they can fall quickly, they add 2 players and they can be as good for a long time. Sound familiar? Yes, Marlboro is on the same path as just about every top team.

Anonymous said...

2:07, well put.

Anonymous said...

match fit lost the academy status and PDA and red bull would be very good as a club team. njsa is iffy

Anonymous said...

PDA who won nationals last year in Colorado is a completely different team who play in the club level

Anonymous said...

Completely different, agreed. Yet that PDA team has players on it that really aren't that good. Put the PDA and Marlboro posts together and you know who is writing them.

Anonymous said...

Huh? Clarify old cryptic one.

Anonymous said...

Good job DSA speed at FCNJ!!!

Anonymous said...

What is FCNJ? Is that a college?

Anonymous said...

DSA Speed? Yes congratulations on beating the worst possible teams that could be assembled in any tournament.

Anonymous said...

Is that shorthand for SSC?

Anonymous said...

To all of you SSC haters, you wont want to play SSC next year. Key additions made!

Anonymous said...

Will the additions be in attendance at the Pocono Tournament?

Anonymous said...

Agreed, no reason to post a name but really Stronghold, the Pocono tournament? Maybe (if the above post is accurate) they are trying to implement their new players in time for Nationals that they backed into.

Anonymous said...

I see the old academy vs top club team debate stirring again. Clearly academy teams have an advantage in getting quality players and I would agree that an academy team would be favored to win the match vs a top club team for the most part. I guess the real question is, what is the actual gap? Would the matches be competitive, 1 goal games or would they be blowouts? What % would the academy teams win?

Anonymous said...

Here we go again.

Once again a few club team parents flex their verbal muscles since their sons team has now won a NJ State Cup. You really believe your sons club team is on par with the academies- REALLY.

You seem to forget that over 100 players from each of the 99 & 98 age group have left the club ranks to play academy ball. Thats over 200 quality players if you count both age groups that are now not playing U15B club ball ( RB, NY Got, NY Club, PDA, NJSA04, & MF ).

I'm not saying these club teams aren't decent but there's a huge difference in how these teams prepare & play. If you actually watch both club and academy games you would know that .

Who's really drinking the Kool-Aid here.

Anonymous said...

11:15, I dont see anyone flexing their muscles with the exception of you and your academy teams. What I read was that the academy teams would be favored to win. Did I miss something? Relax and enjoy your sons games.

Anonymous said...

Are you seriously saying that the 200 players who left are all very good soccer players? You need to get a grip and understand that there are many club players that are just as good if not better than many academy players. Go to a college ID camp and you will soon learn your lesson.

Anonymous said...

12:43 you said the magic words. "Go to an ID Camp" and you will see. No one is dismissing the positives of playing for an academy team but college coaches will find the best players for their programs. If you are just looking to say that you play for an academy team go to Match Fit as they are now begging for players.

Anonymous said...

Anyone know how EDP works? Will 1st division teams that didnt do well get moved to 2nd division?

Anonymous said...

Got to love this time of year at this age group. No player movement because next season is so far away. Nice and calm.

Anonymous said...

SSC wins first game 2-0.

Anonymous said...

New players?

Anonymous said...

Is the competition that poor?

Anonymous said...

It's better than I expected and I don't think this was their national team.

Anonymous said...

Marlboro Vs SSC rematch at nationals

Anonymous said...

Why is SSC in nationals?

Anonymous said...

SSC ties second game in a very good bracket. Need to win or they won't go to finals.

Anonymous said...

Am I the only one that doesn't care?

Anonymous said...

Why all the SSC updates

Anonymous said...

SSC won regionals and earned the right to go to nationals

Anonymous said...

sorry...how did i miss this...ssc was terrible this spring...they're at nationals? c'mon

Anonymous said...

sorry...how did i miss this...ssc was terrible this spring...they're at nationals? c'mon

Anonymous said...

How was SSC terrible? Get real

Anonymous said...

You're right. Not terrible. But not great. How'd they do in EDP, NJ CUP, and top tournaments (FC Delco, EDP Cup) etc. etc?

Anonymous said...

The US Club Regional Cup is like any other competition. Any team that can cut a check can enter and if you place well you can go to National Cup. That is how SSC got into the US Club National Cup. The format for entrance is not as strict as the USYS National Cup Series.

Anonymous said...

Shame they didn't earn it.

Anonymous said...

4 local teams in nationals. Be proud. HOTA, Brentwood, Marlboro and SSC. Good luck to all

Anonymous said...

I am still not convinced that SSC belongs there. Marlboro has earned their place in the finals. What am I missing here?

Anonymous said...

Nationals..not finals.

Anonymous said...

SSC played very well this weekend bur did not dominate like I expected. Hopefully they will reload and represent NJ well.

Anonymous said...

SSC participated in the Regional tournament. Winners advance to Nationals, SSC "earned" the right to represent NJ. Good luck.

Anonymous said...

BWG is the real team to watch in this region. Finals today.

Anonymous said...

Was it the spring version of SSC or the new version of SSC playing over the weekend?

Anonymous said...

SSC paid their way into the Regional tournament. Did not a spot based in performance. Marlboro will prove they belong there.

SSC's 2 new additions are returning players that left last year for Red Bulls and were not offered a spot back this fall.

Anonymous said...

11:28 is a post meant to pose as a Marlboro post, but no one from anywhere other then Stronghold would know the 2nd part. Stop playing games.

Anonymous said...

SSC qualified through the mid-atlantic regional. Final was cancelled due to thunder storms so both teams were offered to go to finals. This is US club's practice as you can not reschedule finals when you have teams that are not local with travel plans. This has happened before in this tournament as well as the NPL finals.

Anonymous said...

True, no way a team from NYE could play a team from Northern NJ easily. Its not like that happens EVERY DAY.

Anonymous said...

HOTA would have wiped up SSC. SSC was lucky it rained.

Anonymous said...

Sounds like you are bit jealous for SSC.. And you sound scared of SSC

Anonymous said...

How do you jump to that conclusion

Anonymous said...

SSC, do you really think you would have beaten HOTA? Could you, of course you had a fighters chance but if a storm cancelled the game and you didnt have to play the game against HOTA to go to Nationals then you were in fact lucky.

Anonymous said...

An honest evaluation of SSC is that their defense is playing well but their forwards seem to be off. They allow too many teams to believe they can win against them that shouldn't.

Anonymous said...

Interesting post above. I do not believe it to be true but that is their opinion. Truth be known, we lost a few players that are top notch and yes it hurt. Coming back will put us in a better position to regain our form. SSC is a top program and and the Falcons are a top team. They may not win every tournament but will compete well in every match. Isn't that what we all want? Of the thousands of boys playing in the NY/NJ region SSC has some of the best as do the top 5 or so teams in NY/NJ. That says a lot.

Anonymous said...

If I am not mistaken, SSC is currently ranked #8 in NJ. Let's stop wasting time on this blog focusing on SSC. Who cares about SSC besides of course the parents. In all reality, had it not been for inclement weather, we all know what the outcome would have been. So please stop rationalizing and just be thankful that lady luck is on your side.

Anonymous said...

Do you really think that they are only the 8th best team in NJ? If you do, take your meds. There isnt a team in NJ that SSC cant beat, that is the truth. I hope that SSC does well and at the same time I hope my sons team beats SSC making the win sweeter.

Anonymous said...

When is the last time that SSC beat SDFC or Marlboro? It hasn't happened much nor will it anytime soon. I have seen how they play against less than mediocre teams. If beating SSC is considered a sweet win, you may want to reevaluate where your son plays next spring.

Anonymous said...

I dont know the last time SSC beat SDFC or Marlboro but I will tell you that those two teams are the #1 and #2 ranked teams. So if you are even saying they are competitive with them I think that says a lot about SSC doesnt it. SSC will reload and bring back players that left them last year and again they will be the team to beat. The Nationals that everyone is talking about on here is US Club, and US club allows you to bring guest players. SSC will bring their guests and show everyone what they should expect to see next year. My opinion is that they will be the best team in NJ once again.

Anonymous said...

^^^I agree.

Anonymous said...

Change of subject. Who can discuss SSC anymore :).

Look at the top teams in NJ, the top currently are listed as
Marlboro
SDFC
Marlton
SJEB
STA
SSC

after that, what a dropoff it is. Do any of the teams listed after that put a scare into anyone? How did this happen?

Anonymous said...

Not really. Most are too inconsistent and have very little depth.

Anonymous said...

Not an SSC supporter, but it is unfair to say they backed in. They won a tough group and weather cancelled the final. Also unfair to automatically assume they would have lost to Hota. In other age groups, both finalists were invited to finals anyway, so Hota result would nt have mattered anyway. Great that they in same group with Marlboro, so that game will tell a lot.

Anonymous said...

What heepens to the Red Bull Academy 99 team? Their is no U15 age groug in the academy?

Rumor is they are starting an RDS 99 team? Any insights?

Anonymous said...

Just a shift in Academy organization. Last year Academy, this year Development Academy.

Anonymous said...

SSC you should have confidence in your current squad and not be bringing guest players to US Club Nationals chasing after a result. Let the current squad gain the experience instead of bringing guest players to take minutes from rostered players that were committed the entire season. Focus on providing the current squad with this experience and development opportunity.

Anonymous said...

How do you know SSC is doing that

Anonymous said...

Here you go. Here is the Post from 8:27 am this morning:

Anonymous said...
The Nationals that everyone is talking about on here is US Club, and US club allows you to bring guest players. SSC will bring their guests and show everyone what they should expect to see next year. My opinion is that they will be the best team in NJ once again.

Anonymous said...

And your point. SSC will win or lose with who they have

Anonymous said...

The point being made is that SSC should bring the players that have been carded to the team for the entire season and not add additional guest players just to chase a result.

SSC v NY Hota Thunder in the finals

Anonymous said...

to set record straight....SSC has no guest players at US club nationals in NC...every player carded on SSC ....and competition is great...Hota and Brentwood look especially strong...and SSC v Marlboro was a great match by both teams.

Anonymous said...

Why should they bring players from past spring squad? If these are the players they plan to go fwd with, then all the power to them. Based on results posted on us club national cup, they 'll be very strong once again. No goals allowed in three tough group games is impressive!

Anonymous said...

Hey 6:15: So someone posts that they bring guest players and you assume it's gospel? Fact is only one redbull player went to NC, and he has returned to team full time.

Anonymous said...

Won't be ranked # 8 for long, so get your bashing in while you can....

Anonymous said...

So much for the idiots who said SSC didn't deserve to be there. Please give us your theory on how SSC " backed" into the final.

Anonymous said...

Not bad for the # 8 ranked team in NJ. Shows you how skewed rankings can be.

Anonymous said...

SSC is ranked #8 for the team that they had, the results of this past weekend are from the team that they brought to this tournament. Please dont confuse the two. Are they guest players or players that will be on the team for the 2014/2015 season? If they are on the team in the future it certainly will help them. The US Club National Cup is not like the USYS National Championship that doesnt allow roster changes. Every team that went to Greensboro could have brought with them 5 guests. Sorry, that is not a National Championship format.

Anonymous said...

Competition in NC has been great, but a couple of points. I am pretty sure every team had guest players. I am very sure that the toughest game we have had so far was vs Marlboro and we play HOTA today. NJ/NY showing well at Nationals, lets leave it at that.

Anonymous said...

The US Club National Cup is the NIT of youth soccer..all of the secondary teams are invited..big deal! Former Red Bulls player = Cut!..good luck SSC and I hope that you do win but please put things in perspective.. In NJ, SDFC & Marlboro wil always be the best two teams.

Anonymous said...

12:04, your statements make no sense. If you think that the US Club National Cup invites secondary teams yet Marlboro was invited. BUT in your words they will always be in the top two?????????????? What are you saying?

Anonymous said...

Here are the facts. Stronghold DID bring guests, possible new players for next year, what ever you want to call them. We do not need to hide the fact that we did this, it is well within the rules. Congrats boys! NJ and beyond, LOOK OUT.

Anonymous said...

Congrats to SSC on your National Championship title. Any comments beyond that are nothing but sheer jealousy and petty sniping at them. NO, I'm not an SSC parent and the BOYS deserve the respect they earned.

Anonymous said...

To be clear the poster above is the only person we need to listen too. He knows all the facts

Anonymous said...

Marlboro, SDFC & the rest of NJ..we are back! SSC strong!

Anonymous said...

Not to dampen your mood but you still have not beaten Marlboro

Anonymous said...

I believe Marlboro has only beaten SSC once in the last 5 years. Any given Sunday team not jersey best. It confirms at nationals they left as losers...they play ugly defensive soccer.. If you can call that soccer..

Anonymous said...

SSC best team in NJ.....

U-11 state cup finalist, spring qtr finalist
U-12 state cup finalist, spring qtr finalist
U-13 state cup finalist, spring finalist
U-14 State champion, spring champion, regional semifinal
U-15 state cup qtr finalist, Us club finalist
U-15 regional champion
U-15 national champion

Anonymous said...

SSC, teams change every year so what was done in the past has no bearing on rankings or strength of teams today. As you well know, a few players can make the difference in a match (see new players brought to Nationals). What is ugly defense? I see SSC didnt score against Marlboro in their two matches this year.

Anonymous said...

7/21 12:04
Are you saying Hota and Brentwood from NY, Marlboro and SSC from NJ , and the two teams from Cali are second rate? Who is first rate then?
And how do you know about SSC Red Bull players?
FYI: SSC Falcons had three players go to Red Bull, one stayed, one not asked back, another told the academy director months ago that he would play high school soccer this fall and he was asked to come back after HS season to be reevaluated ( that is what you call getting cut )
BTW the competition in NC was first rate. Just ask the Marlboro coach who told our SSC coaches that the California team that beat them on day one, was the best team they ever faced. Marlboro won their group in Rhode Island regional and advanced, so they are a great team. In US Club super group, they ran into some great competition and went 0 wins 2 losses , 1 tie, so based on that how second rate could the competition be?

Anonymous said...

10:17
While we would have loved to beat Marlboro, the objective at a tournament is to advance and we did. (2 wins, 1 tie 4GF : 0GA in group play). Marlboro v SSC always a tough game , and down in NC it was no different. Warriors had great goalkeeping, solid organized defense and a dangerous counter attack. Falcons had more of the possession and countless corner kicks, but could not find the back of the net in a game that was tense and tight for all eighty minutes. We look fwd respectfully to many more such matches with them.

Anonymous said...

Fact, Marlboro will need to upgrade to stay with the Falcons. As it is presently the Falcons are a bit better but not by much, both are quality teams. I would expect SSC, SDFC, Marlboro, Marlton and SJEB to all be very competitive with one another in the upcoming season. SSC is however the team to gauge your team against.

Anonymous said...

7/14@3:37
" Hota would have wiped up SSC. SSC was lucky it rained"

How fitting that the regional final at PDA which was called due to severe thunderstorm, was in fact played as the national US club final in Greensboro NC. NY Hota Thunder was a great team, but SSC Falcons pulled out a well deserved 2-1 victory!

How does it taste eating your words now?

Anonymous said...

BTW comment above not directed at Hota but the 7/14 3:37 poster.

Anonymous said...

10:22- yes teams change every year, and what SSC had down at US Club nationals, is the core of what they will be moving forward with. I would expect even a couple more additions to put them at or near the top of this age group in NJ.

Anonymous said...

The simple fact is that it has taken the loud italian with the flowing hair on the marlboro sideline almost 7 years to teach that team how to pack it in and blast the ball out to their striker and then run marlboro run. Nothing pretty to watch there at all.

Anonymous said...

The simple fact is you are just trying to stir up trouble. Doubt that was posted by SSC. I am an SSC parent and while I can't speak for all, most of us are very respectful of all our quality NJ opponents ( Marlboro, SDFC, etc). Fact is the intense competition makes us all better teams. The Marlboro coaching staff has done a very good job with their team.

Anonymous said...

If you have played Marlboro you would know that they used to send the ball to the striker but rarely do now. They move the ball well and have more then a few skilled ball handlers. You would know that the team they played with this year had some new players, just like SSC is doing. Times change. Do I think SSC is better now, yes, but who knows what changes SDFC will make, or Marlton or Marlboro for that matter. We will see.

Anonymous said...

" SSC , do you really think you could have beat Hota ?"
" SSC, lucky it rained"
" had it not been for inclement weather, we all know what the outcome would have been"
" you didn't have to play Hota to get to nationals, you were in fact lucky"

I am not even from SSC, but boy did I enjoy them getting the last laugh on all the posts above!

Anonymous said...

Why cant you people be happy. Be happy for SSC. Be happy that NJ had 2 representatives at Nationals. Be happy that SDFC was right on their heels. Be happy that a team ranked 7 in the state won nationals. The 6 in front, be happy.

Anonymous said...

Gotta love all the posts, but none of you are from SSC. Just a lot of fans I guess.

Anonymous said...

It doesn't matter what anyone posted then or now, as they got the last laugh by winning the national tournament you all said they didn,'t deserve to be in. Then they win it and all of a sudden, it's not a good tournament, well then why did you post about it to begin with?
HE WHO LAUGHS LAST, LAUGHS BEST!!!

Anonymous said...

Not a good tournament? Must have come from someone sitting at home and not at it. All very good teams. SSC prevailed.

Anonymous said...

So 12:54, where would you rank them after their performance in NC ?

Anonymous said...

12:04- SDFC and Marlboro will always be the top teams in NJ?Very bold statement. Care to make a bet who will be at U 18?

Anonymous said...

Not sure where I would rank them because I dont know who is on the team and who isnt. You also said they may add more so if that is the case then some that were there cant be on the list of 18.

Anonymous said...

Congrats to Stronghold, well done. You certainly did not wait long to rebuild.

Anonymous said...

I'm a marlboro fan, debate me.

Anonymous said...

Marlboro fan, debate you bout what?you were better at time of state cup, SSC better this past weekend, as for the future, only time will tell.

Anonymous said...

1254, why do you harp on SSC ranked 7 in state, do you really think there are six teams better in this age group?rankings fluctuate as teams loose points when calendar passes a date where they don't repeat in winning state cup , tournament, etc. In time the good teams get most points back as SDFC has proven recently.

Marlboro , the current number one team in NJ, didn't win a game down there, so the field of teams must've been strong. Have to give kudos to SSC for an impressive tournament win which should boost them in rankings anyway.

Anonymous said...

Marlboro man debate this: at the same tournament in the same flight SSC goes 2wins 0losses 1tie no goals allowed, Marlboro goes 0wins 2losses 1tie 7 goals conceded .

Nothing to debate

Anonymous said...

Lots of crow and humble pie to eat for many anti SSC posters. Was poetic justice that SSC and Hota Thunder met in the final.

Anonymous said...

Hey 1204 let's see your team win the NIT of youth soccer. Maybe you'll find it's not as easy as you think.

Anonymous said...

2:48, SSC won the tournament and they deserve all the credit in the world. You, however are wrong as they played different teams in 2 of their 3 matches. SSC still better but they were not in the same flight.

Anonymous said...

SSC did not rebuild..they developed players. Winning nationals is the result...

Anonymous said...

Is it true that Stronghold brought new players? If so, why would a "championship" of anything allow this? Play with the team that got you there.

If this is your team of the future, then I suppose all looks bright, but a championship tournament should be about the roster that you started with. IMO

Anonymous said...

SSC had to beat NPL semi finalist Brentwood aguilas who took BW gotchee to over time in the NPL semis. Gotchee beat Red bull academy in the regionals and claimed the NPL title a few weeks later..

Anonymous said...

So what you are saying is that the toughest game SSC had was against Marlboro? I find that hard to believe but I guess that is good for NJ.

Anonymous said...

323 all six teams were grouped together and top two went into the final. SSC finished second to Hota on goal dif, Marlboro finished fifth. Check the standings they were all in same group.

Anonymous said...

3:46, I was not there but it is easy to see that they did NOT play the same teams, so they were not grouped together. They took the top 2 teams overall regardless of which group of 3 they were placed in.

Anonymous said...

3:26. :
FYI we did play with the team that got us there, same players we had at PDA for the regionals.

Anonymous said...

323
We played each other to a 0:0 draw in a great game, you lost to Hota 0:3 , we beat them 2:1. Only other team you played was a good Sacramento team that beat you 4:1. Although we did not play them, Brentwood beat them and we beat Brentwood, so on that one you can only compare scores and draw own conclusions . I would agree with you that format and scheduling was not the greatest. Although SSC - Marlboro was a great game, we could have played it here many times. Would have been better playing other teams instead of each other.

Marlboro Man said...

I am the renown marlboro man, I speak here as a delegate for the warriors blue. While there performance at Nationals was below par, no one expected them to qualify in the first place. The team has grown, and will only advance further next year. For future SSC v Marlboro match ups you bet I'm putting my money on the Warriors

Anonymous said...

Wonder what would happen if the Marlboro Man and Crystal Ball were merged? Hmm.

Anonymous said...

424 so what's your point? Are you implying that SSC had an easier schedule or route to the final?

Anonymous said...

Marlboro Man: if no one expected warriors to even qualify getting there, then what does that say for SSC winning it all? Warriors have NJ bragging rights for now as it is truly impressive wining both state cups. But as SSC can tell you, it's difficult to stay there. Watch out and look over your shoulder.....SSC and SDFC are both gunning for you!

323. Is it true SSC took two players from their c team ( arsenal ) to the regionals and nationals? Did they play?

Here is the plain and simple facts! Marlboro's double state cup wins are in the past. The biggest news of the year for U15B soccer in NJ is that a NJ team won the National US Club tournament. Keep your comments current and let's all have fun.

Would you have won the Nationals if you played with the team you had on your roster when the US Club state level tournament took place? If the answer is anything but yes then the entire tournament is tainted.

SSC did take 2 arsenal players to regional and Nationals and they played at regionals and nationals..SSC played every player in the finals vs HOTA

Good job SSC, well done. People say that NJ soccer is within the top ranks of the country and you winning and Marlboro being there helps that case. HOTA and Brentwood from NY also at Nationals, that is great for the tri-state area. With teams like SDFC right on their heels the 2015 season will be great. Dont let the guest player posts bother you, they were allowed to come and you won. The other teams could have done the same!

Way to go SSC!!! It's great to hear a NJ team won the national Championship!

Looks like SSC is the clear top U15b team now! Congrats in representing NJ...

How so I get my win to guest or tryout for SSC? Is the roster filled?

You can lookup any team on Got Soccer for team contact info.

Looks like Marlboro couldn't stay on top for even a couple of months. Let's say they had a once in a lifetime lucky season.

10:43, you could say that or you could also say that they are still the #1 ranked team in NJ and all of this BS is because they lost to the #6 and #9 ranked teams in the country. They did not lose to SSC. Perhaps Marlboro could have brought guests to Nationals also, would that have changed anything? What would that say to the current player? When Stronghold beats Marlboro then you can chirp.

Marlboro you are being a sore loser.nationals proved you could not beat SSC a second time..looking at the standings you needed to win to stay alive in the tournament..instead you allowed your bitter rival to send you home..

Krystal ball foresees that you'll be hearing lots of chirping in the future.

What makes you think that Marlboro is writing these? Are you aware of how easy it is to act as if you are someone else on this forum? I am sure there are some but be realistic.

My congrats go out to both teams as they have shown NJ can play soccer. I also would add in SDFC, SJEB and yes Marlton as the next 3 that can win it all next year.

Let's set the record straight on all this guest player nonsense. I was there and there were four players who were not on Falcon spring roster. Straight off there were two lads from SSC Arsenal who are being looked at for upcoming squad ( good development to promote up from your own ranks ). One midfielder from Red Bull, who had been a Falcon since U9 and is now returning to the team. ( He was there for first two games only, having to leave for Beijing Cup in China). Lastly, a player who left World Class and signed with the Falcons. ( he is transferring to Gill St Bernards where 7 of the Falcons play for former Falcon Coach, so it is likely he will stay with Falcons for years to come). BTW we were missing two regular starters who committed to the Beijing Cup earlier and we're not "crazy" enough to come down for only two games like our center mid did.

Hey 1051 would nt you chirp if you beat hota a top ranked team? This is just the first note you becoming old news

11:45 that is very interesting since yesterday you posted that you had NO guest players.

Comments that say "teams got lucky" is what really ticks me off on this forum, every single team deserves credit for every season, i can almost guarantee every SSC kid worked for that title, no luck. I can also almost guarantee every kid on Marlboro worked for both state cups and to be #1 in NJ, no luck. Most of you are very immature and sore losers when your kids team doesnt do well or even when they do well you still have something negative to say. The ones who do this are probably the ones who werent good at sports when they were younger and were always last pick. Why cant everyone just keep their mouth shut and let the players and coaches do the talking, ON THE FIELD, not on a computer. We have to realize this age group is by far the most talented out of past and future years to come and bad mouthing teams and certain players is pathetic. they are 15 year old boys who just want to have fun, competetive soccer and advance in their game so they can play college ball and perhaps even go pro. Congrats to SSC on the national championship, congrats to Marlboro on their very succesful season, and personally i cannot wait for next season to see who will stay on top and who wont.

12:48 well said. All the top teams will look to add players. Some kids leave to pursue other sports or just lose the soccer passion. Next season will be very competitive with about 5-7 teams having a legit shot at winning a state cup. I suppose that is what made Marlboro's winning both this year so special to them, as it was to SSC, SDFC, and NJX in years past.

I can not wait for any team to defeate the current PAPER Stare Cup winners. Boo to SSC on losing to them!!
