U16B - Competition is thick, diverse and talented

What can we say? This age bracket attracts a lot of attention and several teams have very different rosters going into Fall 2014.

Better than ever.

Region 1 at this age bracket offers a lot of talent at the top of the rankings.
U16 Boys soccer is where the action is.

You are out if your mind. Reputation in your mind maybe. Tell us who you are coward! I am not from Hudson or Marlboro and u am appalled by your statement. I am from SDFC There now you have it. Where are you from COWARD

Anonymous said...

SDFC dad you should spend more time practicing with your son, rather then spending time on this forum. then you would not loose to inferior teams

Anonymous said...

Sdfc stop being a sore looser and stop calling Marlboro names

Anonymous said...

9:14 is not from SDFC. This is someone trying to cause problems.

Good Job Marlboro on your win this past weekend.

Anonymous said...

I agree with 7:08. Stop trying to cause problems unnecessarily where none exist.

Anonymous said...

The use of CAPS tells me it's a kid trying to be funny and cause some trouble. I agree with 7:08. Not someone from SDFC.

Anonymous said...

9:14 Why are you trying to cause problems by pretending to be a SDFC parent?

What is your true motivation behind this? What are you trying to accomplish & why are you trying to make someone else look bad? Do not think for a moment that you are anonymous.

Anonymous said...

How would you or anyone else know where someone is from. Seems to me that the poster was angry at a different poster, not sure why they would lie about where they are from or even tell where they are from for that matter. I think it is just the way the world works. If you are on top, and clearly Marlboro is in that conversation, people will be jealous and say stupid things. Marlboro beat some good teams to win both state cups, no backdoor championships in either. Not sure who can argue that they deserved it. Congrats Marlboro, we hope to beat you next time but for now you deserve to be on top.

Anonymous said...

i Agree with 8:49. Marlboro had solid performances throughout its state cup run and for now do deserve to be on top.

I also agree with 7:57, the impersonation to create strife between 2 parent groups unnecessarily when none exists is what's not needed.

Anonymous said...

I believe all this BS began when someone called Marlboro thugs. (which by the way I find comical because Marlboro can be called a lot of things but thugs just isn't one of them) So, what was the intent there?

Anonymous said...

Big ups to Marlboro for great success this year. My opinion Right now Marlboro sits comfortably on top for winning both cups. Good teams find ways to win the important ones. But No team is great at U15 there is just too much growth and development left to be had. I'm excited to see what these players look like next year, see who puts in the extra work over the summer. Who improves most physically, mentally and technically. There are some very exciting prospects. Mistakes will happen, it's not about whether we make them or not that's important...it's what we do after the mistake that defines us(parents included.) it's exhausting reading how angry some people are..what kind of example does that set for your children? Enjoy the moment and don't get caught up in the BS. Youth soccer isn't a forever moment. Enjoy it.

Anonymous said...

Some interesting ranking changes.
Jersey Knights #5
Howell down to #17
Hudson down to #22
PDA down to #38 (now that is a bang for your buck!)

Anonymous said...

ball is life

Anonymous said...

congrats to marlboro... now the true measure of your play is in the upcoming rhode island regionals. this is the true measure for your team. The cups were just practice. who knows maybe you will get to meet SDFC there. good luck.

Anonymous said...

My son plays for a team that registered for only one of the two state cup competitions. I believe that the true measure for Marlboro has already been accomplished. They won both SC and that couldn't have been an easy thing to do. Why is the true measure RI? All the teams that will be playing in RI have proven they are top teams. Someone will come out on top and everyone else will lose. That doesn't diminish what any of the SC winners have accomplished. If you are trying to tell us that SDFC will be there also and that they will have to beat you again, then just say it.

Anonymous said...

Marlboro is this years state champion, twice over. Marlboro's real test will be against other state champions, not SDFC. as good a year they've had they aren't state champions so the dynamic is different, therefore the true measure of how good this Marlboro team can be will be based on results in RI. Best of luck to them. Best representative for NJ this year they proved it

Anonymous said...

Marlboro without a doubt is this year state champion twice over.

The reality is that there just may be a rematch at regionals with SDFC based upon the tournament lottery and how the brackets are formed. The good news is that this is good for everyone and will make for another great game.

Anonymous said...

Something to look forward to SDFC and Marlboro, drive to RI and play each other.

Anonymous said...

Agree with 2:58, The fact that NJ is going to have 2 teams representing our state at Regionals is Great and says a lot about the level of youth soccer in our state.

Congratulations to

Marlboro - US Club & NJYS State Champs
and
SDFC - Region 1 Regional Wild Card

Good job Players, Coaches & Trainers !!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

3:05 you are right. It is something for the players to look forward to in RI. Playing in a Regional Cup is a great experience. They may play each other and they may not. If they do it will be a good game.

Anonymous said...

There is a lot of talk about Sounders players looking elsewhere. Any truth to this?

Anonymous said...

Why? Are you looking to add some talent to your team?

Anonymous said...

no, not looking for any talent. Heard the sounders are improving. Also heard players are trying out for other teams and just asked the question. One poster up above mentioned this also.

Anonymous said...

Don't the Sounders carry a bunch of players? Maybe the bottom half are looking, that would make sense.

Anonymous said...

Where could they go to play at their level, which is good, and local? Maybe academy tryouts? The are free to do what they want and I am sure someone would pick up some. Don't they have RW as their coach, he is supposed to be real good.

Anonymous said...

Why is this years State Champion twice, playing the second bracket in the EDP Cup? Marlton in the third bracket, confusing to say the least.

Anonymous said...

Ask EDP. Only 8 in top bracket. Could have done 12 or 16. If only 8 in a bracket 4 will get points. There is your answer

Anonymous said...

I looked at the current NJ state rankings on gotsoccer. Jersey Knights had a big jump up and I was surprised to see Stronghold as low as they are. Wasn't Hudson UTD a top 3 team this time last year? Now they are in the 20's. Very up and down with a lot of teams. SDFC, Marlboro, Marlton seem to be the only constants.

Anonymous said...

Give and take a few losses those teams have been some of NJs best so far.

Anonymous said...

Still a big Stronghold believer. They will be back.

Anonymous said...

surprising how quickly they dropped out of the discussion, just look back 2 months ago on this blog, lots of big stronghold talk

Anonymous said...

Self lauded depth. Don't worry they will rebuild. SDFC still the best for my money

Anonymous said...

FYI cape express could have won the NCS state cup. Cape is good!!!!!

Anonymous said...

That is a joke right, or do the lower level state cup teams really think that way?

Anonymous said...

Who do u guys think are going to win the 1st, 2nd,3rd bracket of edp cup this weekend?

Anonymous said...

1st
Arlington over OBGC

2nd
VSA over Marlton

3rd
HBC over NYSC

Anonymous said...

As far as the 2nd flight, bracket 1 is concerned in the EDP cup, any team could move on. Downtown, Morris and State Champs Marlboro could upend Marlton any given day. Vice versa too.

Anonymous said...

Real soccer should be discussed now. Will USA make it out of the group stages?
Any folks headed to Brazil?

Anonymous said...

A weird weekend of soccer in EDP Cup bracket 2, the number 1 (Marlboro) 2 (Marlton) and 4 (STA) in the state all played each other. Also Downtown was in that bracket..STA beat Marlboro 2-0. Marlboro beat Marlton 2-1. Marlton beat STA 2-0. So the number 1,2,4 teams in the state all had a win and a lose against each other. Downtown won that side of the bracket win a win over Marlboro, and 2 ties against STA and Marlton. SJEB gets 3 easy games on the other side of the bracket and wins all of them. SJEB ends up beating Downtown in the final.. These brackets were not very even

Anonymous said...

All close and good games. Good job by all

Anonymous said...

Downtown had 2 wins and a tie to win their bracket. Final was a good game and SJEB came out on top. Barons bracket was a little easier but the final game was a really good one.

Anonymous said...

Yes the Barons won and yes they deserved it We hope to see them on a different day. Our Marlboro match was top notch. STA decent. Marlton a blood bath. Maybe the roughest dirtiest team we have played. Our bracket was more difficult and very competitive but in the end the Barons came out in top.

Anonymous said...

SJEB making a strong case for being a top 3 team in the state. All the hard work has turned the season around.

Anonymous said...

20,000 at the USA vs Ghana game. Go USA. Hopefully the ultra cautious folks are watching. Nothing but a beautiful experience for folks there.

Anonymous said...

Totally fortunate result for USA...completely outplayed by Ghana

Anonymous said...

Yes they were but I will take that win anyway I can get it.

Anonymous said...

With the way things unfolded for Portugal today( loss of 3 starters due to injury and red card), game against USA should go to USA. Lady Luck is looking down on USA.

SAO PAULO — Police say they are investigating the alleged rape of an American woman visiting the Brazilian World Cup host city of Cuiaba.

The police department says in a statement the 24-year-old woman told them she was attacked Friday night after the Chile-Australia match.

She told police she was sleeping in the house of someone she had met in a party held to celebrate Chile’s victory when she was attacked. Her screams woke up her boyfriend and scared away the rapist.

Police say she was treated at a local hospital and is now in the care of representatives of the U.S. Embassy

these posts are getting weird

Anonymous said...

Past weekend, correct, SJEB side of bracket was ridiculously easy... Can't blame them and they got their job done, but seriously EDP are you for real? Marlboro, Marlton, and STA on same side and the others on the other side? Pretty crazy how stupid you can be. There is no logic.

Anonymous said...

Good job gotsoccer... You have Egg Harbor U14 team sitting on top of NJ standings in first place in the U15 group. Hopefully that gets fixed quick.

Anonymous said...

SJEB home fields maybe? In reality you have to beat who you play and SJEB did just that. Good job SJEB.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

Sjeb congrats on a great weekend, but you dot deserve to be I'm front of Sdfc or Marlton from one tournament.

Anonymous said...

No one deserves to be in front of SDFC with maybe the exception of Marlboro for the moment. (dont come off the line too early). Marlton, please stop, what have you really done to say you are better? Are you a very very good team, yes, but relax and prove it. SDFC still going to region 1 championships in a couple of weeks and I am sure they will put on a great display.

Anonymous said...

Region 1 Championships? Where is that? How do you get in?

Anonymous said...

Region 1 Championships? Where is that? How do you get in?

Anonymous said...

A very very good team should not spend time obsessing with got soccer points. Interesting how a Downtown parent has referred to your team as being the dirtiest they have played. Sad.

Anonymous said...

Why are u folks assuming that any of this in the few posts from above are from Marlton? You guys must know how to decode annonymous posts. Please let me know how you do that. It's amazing how two people can the exact same words and interpret as so different.

Anonymous said...

My sons team has played Marlton probably 4 times over the last year. Not sure where anyone would say there are dirty. Interesting.

Anonymous said...

Hard to even think of teams that are "dirty". The old Hudson team was as was Ridgefield. Not one I can think of now though. Marlton not dirty at all.

Anonymous said...

Region1 championships is a tournament with all region 1 state champions, and the region 1 league champion or representative. This year SDFC is the region 1 rep. To be played next week at RI. Schedules are out, good luck to the NY/NJ teams.

Anonymous said...

SDFC got a real tough draw. Marlboro's draw was a bit better but still difficult. Penn Fusion, keep your hotel rooms because you are going to easily be in the semi's. NYE should be fine if they can get by DE Rush.

predict semis as PAE vs VA and NYE vs MD.

Anonymous said...

SDFC has not won anything in 2 years..not sure why they keep padding themselves in the back...

Anonymous said...

Yes, they keep inserting padding under the skin of their back. I wish they would stop doing that as they haven't won anything in 2 years and don't deserve that cushioned inside their back

Anonymous said...

Who really wins anything. SDFC plays a highly competitive schedule, trains hard and have improved. That's a win

Anonymous said...

I see PDA is hosting the US Club Regionals end of this month. The Super Group has some good teams involved, SSC, YMS, HOTA, STA etc. NJ Force was put in the lower bracket. Dont you apply for one or the other?

Anonymous said...

Poor showing by STA and even a worse showing by Howell this weekend. Rider Cup guys, you are supposed to win this. STA has been playing well so they get a pass but Howell has done nothing all year with the exception of winning a poor EDP flight. Hopefully the new players you picked up can play soccer.

Anonymous said...

Maybe Howell was missing players? Who knows.

Anonymous said...

Is SSC still considered a good team?

Anonymous said...

Of course they are, why do you ask?

Anonymous said...

Howell needs more than new players to be competitive. I'm willing to bet they received more cards than goals….

Anonymous said...

How did the NJ teams do in the Regionals? I cant find results.

Anonymous said...

NJ Force applied for the Super Group, but were placed in Premiere.

Anonymous said...

Force, that is NOT true. If you applied for one or the other that is what you get placed in. If you meant super and applied for premier they will not switch you. They will not.

Anonymous said...

Force is inconsistent. Flashes of brilliance at times but a weak bench makes them not as well rounded as most in the top 10. Winning the lower brackets with convincingly might help their cause the next time around.

Anonymous said...

Force has a couple of really good players. The problem they have is that they dont train with other really good players. They really should challenge themselves elsewhere.

Anonymous said...

I agree.

Anonymous said...

Regional update??

Anonymous said...

Marlboro in semis on Mon. v. Delaware Rush. Sdfc eliminated.

Anonymous said...

Great job by Marlboro winning all 3 games in group play and advancing. Tough weekend for SDFC with 2 ties and a loss - only scores 1 goal and gave up 2. Good luck to Marlboro in the semis.

Anonymous said...

how do loudoun red, fsa, mass stars and sdfc end up in same bracket? none of the weakest nh, vt, me, ri or wv in that bracket? good luck to malboro

Anonymous said...

Random draw. No crazy scores so all 16 seem fairly equal. Loudon still the favorite

Anonymous said...

Here's how I see it. My sons team didn't make regionals I would hope that any nj team would do well because that makes my sons team look better. Looking at the scores SDFC did fine and Marlboro is in the semis. Good luck

Anonymous said...

SDFC had a tough draw..outclassed but a great effort..let's go for the sweep Marlboro!

Anonymous said...

Marlboro lost 2-0 in the semi-finals. Loudon and Delaware in final. Good effort Marlboro!

Anonymous said...

Well done Marlboro.

Anonymous said...

SSC wins today on the march to nationals

Anonymous said...

Would much rather have Marlboro or SDFC representing NJ..could get pretty ugly.

Anonymous said...

Ugly? What do you mean?

Anonymous said...

SSC lost to PDA? Wow! I am shocked. Can someone give details of that game?

Anonymous said...

PDA scored more goals

Anonymous said...

You can say the US lost today because of what goes on right here, right now. Parents give no time for development at the younger ages because we are all consumed with the win, then as you move up, expect to pay outrageous prices for coaches from overseas who could really care less but to win and get paid more or to nail down a green card. ODP is a total joke in this state. 300 million people in this country and we can't produce a world class competitive soccer team. Seriously, we're screwed up from the bottom up.

Anonymous said...

Says PDA

Anonymous said...

SSC a top team? PDA national champs then

Anonymous said...

Odd result. Congratulations to PDA.

Anonymous said...

PDA sorry but SSC falcons one step closer to nationals. We will prove nj strong

Anonymous said...

SSC will embarrass NJ. You heard it here first.

Anonymous said...

Will SSC be the only team at nationals ranked #8 in their state?

Anonymous said...

Did they win? Scores not posted.

Anonymous said...

SSC will be just fine. Good luck to all local teams

Anonymous said...

851: do you really think there are seven NJ teams better than SSC in this age group. C'mon really? Rankings fluctuate as teams loose points after a calendar year. falcons will be fine and get back up there soon.

Anonymous said...

NY Hota Thunder and SSC Falcons both advance to US Club Nationals as final called because of severe storm.

Anonymous said...

Why did SSC lose the points? Because they didn't win. So yes

Anonymous said...

Will SSC bring guests.

Anonymous said...

SSC didn't win the tournament. Lost to PDA and goes to nationals. Seems about right

Anonymous said...

you guys are still talking about state cup and all this nonsense. play academy an see how competitive it is

Anonymous said...

Spoken like a duped NJSA believer...

Anonymous said...

PDA? MF? NJSA? All good teams but none would run over the top club teams. Redbulls are the only real academy.

Anonymous said...

If you ever need a really good laugh go watch Marlboro play and just sit back and watch their so called "coach" and the 90 minutes of nonsense from him on the sideline. Someone should get him some big shoes and a red nose to go with his sideline act.

Anonymous said...

Sounds like someone is a little jealous of Marlboro's consistent success.

Anonymous said...

Not a Marlboro fan but someone needs a life. No one was talking about Marlboro so that post is out of the blue and not provoked. We play Marlboro quite often and at the beginning it was not always a pretty scene. Over the years the parents and the players all seem to get to know one another and now the games are very competitive yet not out of order. To "pick" on Marlboro now does not seem to be the right time. Won both State Cups, went to the regional semi's and will be playing in Nationals. Who knows where they will go but spring of 2014 was their season. They lose 2 players and they can fall quickly, they add 2 players and they can be as good for a long time. Sound familiar? Yes, Marlboro is on the same path as just about every top team.

Anonymous said...

2:07, well put.

Anonymous said...

match fit lost the academy status and PDA and red bull would be very good as a club team. njsa is iffy

Anonymous said...

PDA who won nationals last year in Colorado is a completely different team who play in the club level

Anonymous said...

Completely different, agreed. Yet that PDA team has players on it that really aren't that good. Put the PDA and Marlboro posts together and you know who is writing them.

Anonymous said...

Huh? Clarify old cryptic one.

Anonymous said...

Good job DSA speed at FCNJ!!!

Anonymous said...

What is FCNJ? Is that a college?

Anonymous said...

DSA Speed? Yes congratulations on beating the worst possible teams that could be assembled in any tournament.

Anonymous said...

Is that shorthand for SSC?

Anonymous said...

To all of you SSC haters, you wont want to play SSC next year. Key additions made!

Anonymous said...

Will the additions be in attendance at the Pocono Tournament?

Agreed, no reason to post a name but really Stronghold, the Pocono tournament? Maybe (if the above post is accurate) they are trying to implement their new players in time for Nationals that they backed into.

Anonymous said...

I see the old academy vs top club team debate stirring again. Clearly academy teams have an advantage in getting quality players and I would agree that an academy team would be favored to win the match vs a top club team for the most part. I guess the real question is, what is the actual gap? Would the matches be competitive, 1 goal games or would they be blowouts? What % would the academy teams win?

Anonymous said...

Here we go again.

Once again a few club team parents flex their verbal muscles since their sons team has now won a NJ State Cup. You really believe your sons club team is on par with the academies- REALLY.

You seem to forget that over 100 players from each of the 99 & 98 age group have left the club ranks to play academy ball. Thats over 200 quality players if you count both age groups that are now not playing U15B club ball ( RB, NY Got, NY Club, PDA, NJSA04, & MF ).

I'm not saying these club teams aren't decent but there's a huge difference in how these teams prepare & play. If you actually watch both club and academy games you would know that .

Who's really drinking the Kool-Aid here.

Anonymous said...

11:15, I dont see anyone flexing their muscles with the exception of you and your academy teams. What I read was that the academy teams would be favored to win. Did I miss something? Relax and enjoy your sons games.

Anonymous said...

Are you seriously saying that the 200 players who left are all very good soccer players? You need to get a grip and understand that there are many club players that are just as good if not better than many academy players. Go to a college ID camp and you will soon learn your lesson.

Anonymous said...

12:43 you said the magic words. "Go to an ID Camp" and you will see. No one is dismissing the positives of playing for an academy team but college coaches will find the best players for their programs. If you are just looking to say that you play for an academy team go to Match Fit as they are now begging for players.

Anonymous said...

Anyone know how EDP works? Will 1st division teams that didnt do well get moved to 2nd division?

Anonymous said...

Got to love this time of year at this age group. No player movement because next season is so far away. Nice and calm.

Anonymous said...

SSC wins first game 2-0.

Anonymous said...

New players?

Anonymous said...

Is the competition that poor?

Anonymous said...

It's better than I expected and I don't think this was their national team.

Anonymous said...

Marlboro Vs SSC rematch at nationals

Anonymous said...

Why is SSC in nationals?

Anonymous said...

SSC ties second game in a very good bracket. Need to win or they won't go to finals.

Anonymous said...

Am I the only one that doesn't care?

Anonymous said...

Why all the SSC updates

Anonymous said...

SSC won regionals and earned the right to go to nationals

Anonymous said...

sorry...how did i miss this...ssc was terrible this spring...they're at nationals? c'mon

Anonymous said...

sorry...how did i miss this...ssc was terrible this spring...they're at nationals? c'mon

Anonymous said...

How was SSC terrible? Get real

Anonymous said...

You're right. Not terrible. But not great. How'd they do in EDP, NJ CUP, and top tournaments (FC Delco, EDP Cup) etc. etc?

Anonymous said...

The US Club Regional Cup is like any other competition. Any team that can cut a check can enter and if you place well you can go to National Cup. That is how SSC got into the US Club National Cup. The format for entrance is not as strict as the USYS National Cup Series.

Anonymous said...

Shame they didn't earn it.

Anonymous said...

4 local teams in nationals. Be proud. HOTA, Brentwood, Marlboro and SSC. Good luck to all

Anonymous said...

I am still not convinced that SSC belongs there. Marlboro has earned their place in the finals. What am I missing here?

Anonymous said...

Nationals..not finals.

Anonymous said...

SSC played very well this weekend bur did not dominate like I expected. Hopefully they will reload and represent NJ well.

Anonymous said...

SSC participated in the Regional tournament. Winners advance to Nationals, SSC "earned" the right to represent NJ. Good luck.

Anonymous said...

BWG is the real team to watch in this region. Finals today.

Anonymous said...

Was it the spring version of SSC or the new version of SSC playing over the weekend?

Anonymous said...

SSC paid their way into the Regional tournament. Did not a spot based in performance. Marlboro will prove they belong there.

SSC's 2 new additions are returning players that left last year for Red Bulls and were not offered a spot back this fall.

Anonymous said...

11:28 is a post meant to pose as a Marlboro post, but no one from anywhere other then Stronghold would know the 2nd part. Stop playing games.

Anonymous said...

SSC qualified through the mid-atlantic regional. Final was cancelled due to thunder storms so both teams were offered to go to finals. This is US club's practice as you can not reschedule finals when you have teams that are not local with travel plans. This has happened before in this tournament as well as the NPL finals.

Anonymous said...

True, no way a team from NYE could play a team from Northern NJ easily. Its not like that happens EVERY DAY.

Anonymous said...

HOTA would have wiped up SSC. SSC was lucky it rained.

Anonymous said...

Sounds like you are bit jealous for SSC.. And you sound scared of SSC

Anonymous said...

How do you jump to that conclusion

Anonymous said...

SSC, do you really think you would have beaten HOTA? Could you, of course you had a fighters chance but if a storm cancelled the game and you didnt have to play the game against HOTA to go to Nationals then you were in fact lucky.

Anonymous said...

An honest evaluation of SSC is that their defense is playing well but their forwards seem to be off. They allow too many teams to believe they can win against them that shouldn't.

Anonymous said...

Interesting post above. I do not believe it to be true but that is their opinion. Truth be known, we lost a few players that are top notch and yes it hurt. Coming back will put us in a better position to regain our form. SSC is a top program and and the Falcons are a top team. They may not win every tournament but will compete well in every match. Isn't that what we all want? Of the thousands of boys playing in the NY/NJ region SSC has some of the best as do the top 5 or so teams in NY/NJ. That says a lot.

If I am not mistaken, SSC is currently ranked #8 in NJ. Let's stop wasting time on this blog focusing on SSC. Who cares about SSC besides of course the parents. In all reality, had it not been for inclement weather, we all know what the outcome would have been. So please stop rationalizing and just be thankful that lady luck is on your side.

Do you really think that they are only the 8th best team in NJ? If you do, take your meds. There isnt a team in NJ that SSC cant beat, that is the truth. I hope that SSC does well and at the same time I hope my sons team beats SSC making the win sweeter.

When is the last time that SSC beat SDFC or Marlboro? It hasn't happened much nor will it anytime soon. I have seen how they play against less than mediocre teams. If beating SSC is considered a sweet win, you may want to reevaluate where your son plays next spring.

I dont know the last time SSC beat SDFC or Marlboro but I will tell you that those two teams are the #1 and #2 ranked teams. So if you are even saying they are competitive with them I think that says a lot about SSC doesnt it. SSC will reload and bring back players that left them last year and again they will be the team to beat. The Nationals that everyone is talking about on here is US Club, and US club allows you to bring guest players. SSC will bring their guests and show everyone what they should expect to see next year. My opinion is that they will be the best team in NJ once again.

^^^I agree.

Change of subject. Who can discuss SSC anymore :).

Look at the top teams in NJ, the top currently are listed as
Marlboro
SDFC
Marlton
SJEB
STA
SSC

after that, what a dropoff it is. Do any of the teams listed after that put a scare into anyone? How did this happen?

Not really. Most are too inconsistent and have very little depth.

Not an SSC supporter, but it is unfair to say they backed in. They won a tough group and weather cancelled the final. Also unfair to automatically assume they would have lost to Hota. In other age groups, both finalists were invited to finals anyway, so Hota result would nt have mattered anyway. Great that they in same group with Marlboro, so that game will tell a lot.
