What can we say? You just have to read it--better than Leno and Letterman, any day. This age bracket attracts a lot of attention and several teams have very different rosters going into Fall 2012. Better than ever.
These cant really be NJ Force parents defending the poor results, can it? Cant play in the cold? Dominated by couldnt score? They lost, not the end of the world, but take it ez with the excuses.
Force is an over rated team that needs some good training instead of shouting. Some excellent players that do not know what to do with the ball next. The kids seemed to be gun shy from the yelling from coaches and parent alike. Tough weeekend for NJ Force.
Not only did they not score, but had very few chances/shots.
How are they over rated? It seems by the responses on this forum that the only people that over rate them are themselves. They do have a couple of really nice player.
It's not the coaching for NJ Force. The coach is very good. It's their first year as a club. The results will come. Like someone said they dominated games how can it be the coach? They are dominating they just aren't finishing and making some silly mistakes.
Force will be just fine. Thank you all for caring, but we will be coming to a field near you very soon. When that time comes, please remember these remarks as you will need to choke them down.
seen force on several occasions. good team. tough, physical style. ball movement/ possession concept seems fine-- execution is not quite what you'll get with top teams in the state yet. the physicality and size of many of their players may mask technical weaknesses. maybe a move up to EDP-- second division for starters-- could help with development.
NJF = Talented young team with a bench that’s two maybe three kids deep which is a problem when you play a tough schedule. Correcting the bench depth and selfishness of your players will go along way. Good luck in the jr state cup.
1: SPRINGFIELD SYC SYC STRIKERS BLUE (VA) 2: EVERTON AMERICA CT U14 BOYS REGIONAL (CT) 3: NEW YORK SC B98 (NYE) 4: SDFC RANGERS (NJ)
Rangers did not fair well in this one coming in last place. Didn’t see any of these games but the GF vs. GA tells me they were in every game.
1: SHORELINE FC LIVERPOOL (CT) 2: MORRIS UNITED STA GUNNERS RED (NJ) 3: BW GOTSCHEE 98 (NYE) 4: BALTIMORE BAYS BLUES (MD)
Gunners didn’t have a bad showing but when you can’t put more than 1 on the board it’s tough to win in the upper brackets.
1: HBC UNITED (NYE) 2: AUBURNDALE BAYSIDE AV JUNIOR (NYE) 3: CONNECTICUT FC CFC AZUL (CT) 4: NJ STALLIONS ACADEMY 98/99 BOYS (NJ)
Again much of the same from NJ, not a lot of offense yields last place.
1: HUDSON UNITED FUTBOL KNIGHTS (NJ) 2: FC STARS OF MASSACHUSETTS UNITED 98/99 (MA) Tie 3: JERSEY KNIGHTS GALACTICOS (NJ) Tie 3: NEW JERSEY FORCE UNITED (NJ)
Hudson didn’t beat anyone elite but they got the job done and earned almost 3000pts moving up from 9 to 6. Let me also add they did a solid job in the DTS winter classic.
1: PRINCETON SA PREMIER 98/99 ORANGE (NJ) 2: EAST ISLIP SC REBELS (NYE) 3: WESTERN UNITED PIONEERS FC WESTERN UNITED PIONEERS WHITE (MA) 4: BALTIMORE BAYS BLUE LIONS (MD)
Weak bracket but Princeton doesn’t allow any goals which are nice to see. Big fish little pond.
Overall, why do you think there was such a weak performance from some of NJs top teams with regards to goals? It can’t all be coaching like most of the above think can it? I would love to hear your opinions of some of these other programs as I was a bit taken by the lack of overall offense.
At the top level you need to know how to finsh when you are in the scoring area. I saw some great opportunites missed. And on the other hand I saw some calm and lethal strickers that know how to finish.
If Hudson is the same team as the fall, they are ok. OK meaning they can compete with some of the top teams but wouldnt be favored in a match. If they added a kid or two then they could make a jump.
@ the above poster. In my mind RB is an elite team. F.C Stars of Massachusetts are a nice team but not even close to elite. Their lack of getting to the finals in a lower bracket only adds to my statement.
@ the poster above that. Hudson plays a sloppy one or two touch punt as far as you can and run after the ball style. They have two very good players up top that can finish and an excellent goalie who keeps them in every game. Against the lower level teams this game plan is working well but against the elite teams it will not.
Like some teams, it's a shame they are in the wrong state cup.
I have watched Hudson and they are not a kick and run team. They have a good mix of talent on their team. But they lack being physical but can surprise you with some creative moves. They are possibly an up and coming team. They havent really proved anything.
I agree they are an up and coming team but I watched them play and they were nothing but kick and run. Anytime a defender had the ball, they kicked it as hard as they could over the 50 and the team chased it.
If you have some film you can post from last weekend to prove otherwise I will gladly eat my words but I know what I saw. Kick and run.
Making defenders show their numbers( running away for ball) is a great strategy when used correctly. Sometimes, a team needs to regroup, but Hudson is not a kick and run team. They have 8 excellent players that can play with anyone, problem is like most almost elite teams- depth.
Only a Hudson parent would know that they have 8 excellent players. Dont try to defend it, no other bystander would possibly know to count or even think about it. So, Hudson dad, way to alienate the rest of your team. BTW, 8 is a very very generous number.
Marlton is hard to watch. One of their strikers falls down every time he loses the ball while begging the ref for a whistle. I watched one game where he fell 8 or 10 times while not one other player was on the ground the entire game.
A decent team, but that tactic destroys any credibility.
Marlton Racked up some gotsoccer points too! Winning tournament= points Beating top 200 teams= points
Great way to start Spring. Be a wonderful team over the summer and for Fall to add an impact player or two. A power House in the Fall and less then $1200 a year.No extras.
Force is just plain out booty thats why Hudson beat them ! Hudson is a good team won the state cup and regional and went to nationals ! Yesterday they beat SDFC #1 in NJ that is questioned !
US Club State cup. Ok . Let's see how well you do in EDP. You have Marlboro and Marlton on your schedule. And Marlton has claimed to be better then Hudson.
Dads you really need to get a life. Never seen anything like this. Keep living vicariously through your 14 year olds. Why do so many people on here feel the need to trash other teams? With so much talent in NJ it would be refreshing to see a forum like this used for constructive discussion. Pretty nice collection of loser dads on here. Glad I stumbled upon this bog, but damn, really guys?
Why does the truth hurt so much 4:46am? Marlton wins a tournament, comes onto the board bragging, but when it’s explained to them they didn’t beat anyone elite, they appear shocked; seriously? The same goes for Hudson who to this point hasn’t beaten anyone elite either. So you collected some Gotsoccer points by winning a few lower brackets, so what? You didn’t go to Jefferson or the Turf Classic and win the top bracket so what did you expect us to say? I have said it before and I will say it again. Do what a team like Marlboro did last year and earn your respect by beating the top teams in our state. When you do that, I will be the first to applaud those efforts. Until then you are both nothing more than two nice teams who are cutting their teeth on some mediocre talent.
Some of the predictions about Cup and other tournament winners are fun. But overall, the level of talk here is too limited to 3rd grade level bashing about which team is better. My son and other U14 players I talk to have more thought provoking questions on their minds. Should they play school soccer next year or focus on club? Should they play club soccer or a spring school sport (e.g. lacrosse, baseball, track)? Should they move to a slightly better team just because they can make it or stay where they already have lots of friends? Should they spend the summer doing some conditioning work, going to a few camps or playing Super Y/Summer Select?
Agreed 1:04, there should be more intelligent talk but the constant NJ Force, Marlton (pick a team) postings do need to be addressed. They do need to know the facts. To your points, if they are a soccer player then playing in the spring is a no brainer.
The number one team in the country also ties Warrington so either our areas soccer is better than advertised or Virgina Royal isnt as good as advertised.
When does NJ Force say they are the best? I never see anything on here like that. I do see the Marlton posts though. Let them keep running around with all their M clothing talking about how great they are. Wait till the lose their center forward.
Come on Force dad, go pretend to coach the team from the parents sideline. Sorry Marlton has accomplished what you have tried to do, keep trying though.
"All the people on this blog are clueless. NJ Force played a great game but since no one here understands the game, it's not worth justifying. Soccer moms and dads just bring the orange slices and stop commenting on a game you have no clue about."
Hmmm, which NJ Force father that "knows the game" would say that?
I think the above poster has a point about Marlton's center forward but we already knew they were a one trick pony that stacked the box. As much as I like to get on the Force I have to admit, I see more trash talking from Hudson and Marlton. Then again, maybe it's someone pretending to be from Marlton or Hudson. Either way, I find the banter amusing.
about the northern VA team that SSC tied recently. they were at Lou Ramos back in the fall and are definitely a very good team, but the idea of any U14 team having a meaningful national ranking is comical. Maybe you can somewhat legitimately push gotsoccer as far as the region, but beyond the state gets shaky. the ranking are more of a reflection of the sick economics of youth soccer than they are a measure of the talent and competitiveness of the teams. don't get me wrong, they do say something about how good teams are, but they probably say more about how well they choose tournaments to participate in and how much $ they have to spend on the top tourneys.
Everyone should be aware that FOX Soccer just announced this morning that MLS has set a notice to all management across the country requiring each to monitor all youth soccer related blogs effective immediately. The purpose and intent of this is for them to have direct access to each major geography's top soccer minds and to identify who the best teams are in youth soccer and then down to the player level. This new strategy will effectively eliminate any future need for multiple strong teams in the major soccer states. MLS further said that they will evaluate all points earned on got soccer and will tabulate them in a new format. Points will only be earned in this system if deemed that they played a worthy opponent. As not to be biased, input for that will only be solicited from parents of opposing teams. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up.
The point is...just something to think about how this is 14 year old soccer. I am into this just as much as much as the next Dad. And yes fortunately my kid is pretty darn good and has some serious ambitions to move on and play in college. Hopefully all the stars will align, he will not get hurt, and he will excell and be fortunate enough to take advantage of some good opportunities coming his way. The real point here is I just can't believe how much trash talk there is on this forum about other teams, players, coaches, etc. Yeah there are always some better than others, but the childish and derogatory comments are just ridiculous. Does anyone ever think that some of the players might read this? Really the kind of environment we want them to be a part of? Ok so yes, my son has seen it and his first comment was, wow these guys really need to get a life. So you may ask, why am I on here? In that regard I am guilty, kind of like not being able to take your eyes off a train wreck.
Dad. I respect your concern about how people are trashing other people, but don't pay attention to them. If every educated adult took the moment and not respond to negative blogging, we would move on to other topics. Just like the idiot who is going to respond negatively to my comment; I just ignore them. Unfortunately, you have kids on this blog that are just simply childish. I would love to hear about parents whom are helping their 14 year old soccer player develop their dream of becoming a professional soccer player. Training, nutrition, etc. Is anybody doing this?
"How many players would make it to DA team that currently play in our TOP 10 teams in NJ?"
Not a calcuable number. I know of DA players on PDA, NJSA, MF (not RB) that would not be a starter or major contributer on my son's team. That doesnt say much either, but it is a fact that I could take 2 players from each of the top 10 teams and field a team that will compete/beat the academy teams.
well I guess Marlton U-14 is starting to look like they ARE the real deal. Although NJSA controlled the ball most of the game.....Marlton capitalized on the transition once again. They put one up early and then settled into a very good defensive plan. Their striker almost scored again but the ball bounced just over the crossbar. Say what you will about this team.... they keep winning! NJSA now sits on the sideline while their parents pay hefty soccer dues.
NJSA is a solid soccer program that i have no doubt. Fast, discipline and has great ball handling skills. I have no horse in this race but it sounds like Marlton out coached NJSA. Round 1 2013 Spring SC. Marlton sc 1 NJSA 0.
Marlton insisted on playing in a torrid storm (I guess to minimize the impact of more skilled players or in the hope that NJSA wouldn't show up - don't know which one). NJSA defender slipped on the wet field on a back pass and Marlton forward had one on one with goalie in first five minutes. Then Marlton proceeded to put 9 in the box the entire rest of the game. Their only possession was when clearing the ball. That's what you call "real deal" and "out coaching" - I would be embarrassed if that's the kind of soccer my son played. I don't blame the kids - seem like a nice bunch of hard working kids. But their coach should think about whether the way he's teaching these kids the game.
Couple of things. NJSA crying, wow where have I heard that before. Marlton putting 9 in the box, that is their game. You can score against it, you just need to have a plan.
IB over SSC 2-0 in ISC tourn. final. seemed like a good game. IB with a bit more energy getting to and moving the ball, but SSC did not look bad. lambeau field-like weather conditions.
Take a look at the winning % of these teams and you will get a better feel. Marlton 58%, NJSA 28%. Yes, I know it doesnt tell you everything but it has to tell you something. SDFC, the number one team is only at 56%. Marlboro 69% is the highest.
in reference to "How many players would make it to DA team that currently play in our TOP 10 teams in NJ?".......
Most of them would make it since those players in the DA u14 just came from town clubs. Very few start at u8 in those DA clubs. RB is a different story. 100% came from town teams. It's just a matter of getting kids together from town teams and making another DA club at these early ages.
IB over Falcons was played on a great field not "lambeau field-like weather conditions". A little cold but how many fields are out there like the NJIT soccer field? Do not compare it to the horrible grass field up at the Stronghold club.
Just want to tell Marlton that they played a great game battling through the conditions and getting the win that they deserved. All you dads and coaches on this blog need to leave Marlton alone... I don't know what you were talking about with there strikers but they didn't fall or cry and they hustled there ass of both of them so congratulations Marlton and keep up the good work, and putting eight in the box maybe the last 15 minutes of the game, maybe they didn't play great because of the conditions but they got the job done and played with heart out there ... we will see you in the finals Marlton good luck
If 2nd place floats your BOCA then ok you are the real winner. Nice wins against Howell and Southampton but lets not go crazy here. Southampton may have already thrown in the towel before they decided not to literally not show up in their 3rd place game. (provided previous reports are valid)
Lets start with this, who said one and done? Next question, if you are not from Marlton why do you care? Not from Marlton and you think they are the real deal, ok please explain to us why they are in fact the real deal in your eyes.
To the poster about Marlton insisting on playing in a torrential rain you and crying cause you lost, you are a fool. The game was supposed to be played on the previous Friday night, but your team cancelled. Your guys drove 2 hours (and some more) to get to Marlton in Monday. Yes it was raining like a mother and horrible..,who would have really known that was to occer to that extent? Would you have liked us I tell you once you were there and drive far that we did not want to okay. You are an ass. Further, your coaches completely embarrassed themselves after the game with yelling at our coaches with all the players to hear. Yelling to them that what we played was not real soccer and making a huge scene. A shame your coaches are such an embarrassment since you have some really good players and in fact are quite good.
Although I believe Boca is the cream of the crop, it is a good thing that teams like Marlton prevail. There are many SC's in NJ that provide excellent soccer training. That's a given and we all know who those teams are......but for a team like Marlton (AND THERE ARE OTHERS) only stregthen the belief that NJ provides some of the best young soccer talent in the country. What do I mean by that?? It shows that in-town programs are providing the right coaching and guidence which then funnels right into their respective travel program giving them building blocks neccissary to compete against teams like BOCA or NJSA. The more cometitve our NJ teams are the more respect our teams get. Don't be so judgemental on these programs that are fed from their intown talent. NJSA is problably the better team but teams like Marlton will not just laydown and be had as a springobard. As far as I see it? The state of new jersey youth soccer wins! Congrats to all of our NJ teams that compete hard and respects the sportmanship of this wonderful game!! Good luck to Marlton and for NJSA?? If you watch them play once you know right away how good they are. That program will be here for the long run! Cheers!!!
Why do you believe Boca is the cream of the crop? They win a couple of games and all of a sudden they are one of the best team in the state. Please explain. What I saw was some decent players who were poorly coached. It showed against Marlboro.
Please do not take offense. I should have said," It is my opinion". That's all it is. In reality there is no clear cut favorite. In fact......looking at the over-all results over the past year there seems to be more parity than dominance. That all being said only time will tell!
Boca is the cream of the crop. Do you even know what that statement means? BOCA is a good team, not top but good. They beat a Howell team that can win or lose on any given day with no logic behind it. They beat a Southampton team that proved they are quiters. They lost by 3 to Marlboro. That is a good weekend, that's it. BOCA will get better, but your statement was about today.
Cream of the Crop is 5-5 with one tie in their last 11 games. The tie was with the all powerful Flemington team. If this is the cream of the crop, I say time to reseed.
I am partial to Boca. That's it. Even if they finshed with a non winning record I would feel the same. Im sure everyone is partial to their own team. Boca is MY cream of the crop! Hows that! Lol..... I enjoy the banter as long as we throw snowballs and not darts! I did watch Marlotn beat NJSA and Marlton showed alot of Charactor and heart in the last 15 minutes of that game. When Marktons strikers put high pressure on the NJSA fullbacks they caused a few turnovers. NJSA's players had ridiculous footskills. Add another 5 minutes to that game the result could have been different. I just like the way Marlton plays.
You are at a Marlton/NJSA game in Marlton but you are a BOCA dad? On a Monday night? Maybe NJSA's footskills looked good to you because BOCA has none. I love the Detroit Lions, they are the cream of the crop in the NFL, well at least to me. Stupid.
A prior post stated "If I could put one opening round game on PPV it would be Ridgefield vs. Marlboro because it's two teams that play VERY physical and who are going to give the referee's a run for their money.
I hope I'm wrong but I would be shocked if less than 3 yellows were given out during this one."
Well you were wrong. Marlboro/Ridgefield match resulted in 6 yellows total, 5 belonged to Ridgefield.
about the IB-SSC Lambeau field-like weather conditions comment--I'm not dissing the NJIT turf AT ALL. it's a great venue, and I happen to think the tournament overall was run quite well. I'm saying that the actual weather felt like conditions one might experience if they were at Lambeau field.
BOCA will beat Howell, move on to beat Marlboro as their weakness has been exposed. Maybe Marlton will win another game and we can prove who the top team is.
Looking at the NJ Cup schedule, the best matchup will be Howell vs boca. I would say either team could win and it should be a fairly high scoring affair as both teams have some defensive liabilities. Either way, a good team will be home wishing they took NJ Force's plan of playing in the lower level.
@4:29PM - Why do you believe NJF should be in the national tournament? Have you gone through their win loss record? If so, please show us bloggers why you believe they aren’t where they belong. Sounds to me like you have an ax to grind with the club or you just have no idea what you’re talking about. NJF is solid club that has some decent potential but to say they aren’t in the right cup just shows your complete and utter ignorance.
Not 4:29 but here is my answer. NJF has good players, better than the average town team has and they are run like an academy. Meaning they can pull players in from all areas with no recourse. That type of team should be in the top bracket NOT the lower bracket. Add on top of that, the bravado that is shown by the team as a whole, well now you have a walking contradiction. Would they win the top flight? NO. Would they compete, yes they would.
I agree with the above when he/she says NJF has better than average town team that’s coached similar to some academies. However my comment was for teams like that regardless of pool selection to produce a few quality wins before being granted a chance to compete against the higher teams that already have. If NJF wins the lower bracket destroying teams by 3 or 4 goals per game then the poster above is correct and I would be wrong but I don’t believe that will be the case.
Above poster is right. No need to be limited to a specific tournament or state tournament. Apply where you want and the results will determine if you were right or wrong. I am surprised that the team in question NJF, applied for the lower level. Based on what I have heard from these parents I would think they would be upset about this. Paying that type of money should bring better results.
If everyone likes the kick and run style of play I can see why so many are talking about Marlton, Marlboro, Howell, NJ Force and Boca. I have watched all of these teams play not one of these clubs can string 10+ passes together on the ground and control the game. The common denominator that all the above mentioned teams have is get the ball up to the fast and athletic forward and see what he can do with it.
The US national team can't string 10 passes together but you expect U14 teams to do so. You obviously read soccer coaching for dumbies which is why you know everything about development and nothing about winning.
You are absolutely right that is why the USMNT will be lucky to make it through the qualifiers because they can not control possession, the ball or the game.
If a team is developed properly and focuses on the basics of the game there should be no reason why stringing 10+ passes together is too much to expect.
BTW there are teams in the U14 age group that can string more than 10+ passes together consistently.
You can criticize my view all you want. I am fine with that.
However, Is it really to much to ask for a Coach and his/her staff to teach the game how it is supposed to be played properly so there is a future for these players?
If winning at the u14 age is more important than proper player development than priorities are in the wrong place.
Size, athleticism and a kick and run style of play will ultimately lose to skill at U16.
The results of the Baltimore Mania tournament pretty much sum up where the NJ Force stands. Pretty embarrassing to come on there tooting your horn after putting up results like that.
Good stuff by Marlton today coming back 2nd half from a 3-0 but I must say the 1st penalty shouldn't have been a penalty our defender clearly headered that ball out didnt even touch the Marlton player and I'm a player from Hudson, good stuff though Marlton!
I agree. Marlton had a great comeback in the 2nd half. 2 penalties called against Hudson in the 2nd half. Hudson played very well the 1st half. They moved the ball from side to side with precisions passing. Their three goals were clinical. One on a corner, a shot from 25 yards out and a rebound goal in the box. The 2nd half for Hudson... maybe they ran out of steem? or maybe Marlton just wanted it more at the end?
i really dont understand how marlton didnt beat anyone elite.. beat stronghold 1 0 tied marlboro 1 1 beat howell 3 0 and beat force 2 1 in the same tournament to win it all... look it up the facts are there it was the marlboro tournament so all u dads and coaches that are losers cause they lost to marlton can keep crying themselves to bed on this blog
Yes they had home field advantage, I'm a player from Hudson just saying. And to the question above Marlton wanted it but the first penalty wasn't even called by the central refree it was called by the sideline referee and it Deffienetley wasn't a penalty.
For those that are really familiar with this blog know that it tracks the IP addresses if the computers that upload posts.
The IP Address of the computer that posted the above comment Is from southern NJ. This could not be from a Hudson Player. Marlton parents in disguise looking to self promote little Johnny's team.
LOL! First, I am guessing you are just some parent talking and have no access to the IP addresses of above commenters and second, if by some chance you do, let me know how you access them! Just kidding. I am not part of your U14 discussion, but do read the blog and occasionally post in other areas. Be careful. Anyone really familiar with the law knows you would open yourself and this blog to legal liability for disclosing anonymous poster's details.
So now we're saying that games don't count that are won when the team has home field advantage? Like the refs give a crap. You are an idiot. This keeps getting funnier every day. Also there is not a chance in hell that it is a player posting those two comments. 14 year olds just don't write like that. You are funny dad.
Every game counts. Win lose or draw their will be some type of missed call or bad call by the ref. Did the ref make a bad call at @ the Hudson vs Marlton game. Probably..its done. Until you guys meet again.
Greetings. My son's team is not competing this weekend and he's willing to be a guest player for a tournament team in need of an attacking midfielder/forward. U-14, U-15. Please let me know at Pozzoli123@aol.com. Thank you for your time.
Yes & the IP address is in southern nj because when I posted it, it was like an 1 hour hour after we left from the game and it took us almost 2 hrs to get back to jersey city, I'm a player from Hudson #10 Christopher Bermudez, I was just very angry about the 1 horrible call, but that's the past now.
What exactly is player development? Player woul be individual talent. Development I guess would be making that individual better. How does player development equate to an entire team being able to string passes together? Player development became relevant when some idiot realized he could make money by fooling people into the fact he could make your kid better. Apparently it caught on. Player development happens when your kid decides on his own that he wants to be good and he will put the work in when the other kids are playing video games. The us national team was much better when academy teams didn't exist. If your team is getting results. Regardless of how many passes they can string together, good for you. The test of you who are worried about "player development" get used to losing.
Okay we have some premier state cup games happening and although they aren’t the top of the food chain does anyone want to predict any winners?
Monroe Twp WFC United vs. PDA Union 98s’ New Jersey Force United vs. Rancocas Valley Premier Hudson United Futbol Knights vs. Torpedoes Den of Lions Eagles vs. Wayne SC Destroyers
What team do you support and cheer for? Do you have the soccerballs to identify yourself? Christopher don't mind this child blogger playing mind games. His sons team probably lost against yours. Good luck this weekend. Signed: IP address south jersey blogger.
Good point above. Hudson is the #7 team in the state and obviously played Marlton close. Why aren't they playing state cup in the Super Group? It seems like you are getting short changed personally Christopher. Why? What is the coaches' motivation? You seem like a nice kid, but I won't wish you luck for beating up on dead bunnies like the Torpedoes 7-0. It's shameful that you are in that group.
Shameful? Not sure I would go that far but certainly they are not in the correct group. NJ Force and Hudson are in the wrong group. In their defense, neither would have a chance in hell of winning the top flight, and most likely wouldnt win a game.
If NJF wins the whole thing in a convincing fashion you are right, if they don't you're not 100% on target with your comments. Finally, I don't see NJF even talking about their win last weekend so why bring them up? Seems like Hudson and Marlton are the only ones puffing out their chests and when they get their hands slapped for doing so an NJF comment pops up. Talk about deflecting.
Actually, I am on target with my comments. NJ Force and Hudson are in the wrong group. That comment has nothing to do with any prior or future win or loss by either of these teams. I dont care if they win or lose as it can happen on any day, but their coaches made a decision to allow them to beat on the weaker teams and not to challenge themselves.
That is true, but he failed them with the NJ Cup. Dont worry, you will still be able to market the State Cup Championship and your relatives wont know any difference.
NJ Force can compete with anyone and so can anyone else. Rather they play in the top/bottom tier tournament or the A/B league. All you critics don't have the master formula of developing a great team. Some of your blogging is childish and comical. I guarantee you all the top teams will play someday. And if you are supposedly in the mix of one them. Let me here you give praise when merit is due. I doubt it because you live in a glass bubble thinking your team does the best win or lose.
Only a few teams I applaud for their style of play: SDFC, PDA, Irondbound and sometimes SSC.
Teams to watch out for: NJ Force, Hudson,
Teams that need to improve development: Marlton, Marlboro, Howell,
It's not about the wins and loses. It's about how the team plays and plays it with style. Who, when and where someone plays is their own choice.
Good lord this is funny. For those that say some of these teams play kick and run, perhaps you are right. Ever think for a minute that they are working to get better with more possession and takes things to another level? Why are all you assholes criticizing these teams? These teams have all done pretty damn well to get to this point. What about the other 150 teams in NJ that no one cares about. Call it what you want, but some of these teams that are trashed on this blog must have done or are doing something right for you assholes to care so much about them. No we're not all as perfect as your teams. Again, get a grip people.

SSC rules futsal, so of course they use guest players. Makes sense to me. SSC, my advice to you is to shut up and use your superior skills on the pitch this spring. Talk is cheap, go prove it.
To all. Here is a link to some real youth futbal. Check out the passing, teamwork touch and goal finishing. No Kick and run here. Not the the big kid up as forward to slam the ball in. These teams would take apart any team here in the US.
No kick and run? You may want to watch the video again.
1st goal started with a long cross 2nd goal started with a long ball 3rd goal some really nice passing 4th goal long ball then a kid ran 40 yards with the ball 5th goal 1 kid dribbled straight to the goal
not diminishing what these kids are doing, I am sure they are all very good, but lets get real.
Some of you are so uneducated it hurts. Anyone ever heard of American Futsal Academy or Philly Futsal? These are the real Futsal teams in the area. They take the best players from club and academy teams and form each winter and beyond. Look them up. Training is lights out and applies the whole Futsal concept. Completely transferable to outdoor. THIS is what makes Barcelona so great and the many LATAM players fantastic. They start this at a very young age and apply it for years, taking the concepts and applying to outdoor. Anyone that does not understand this is ignorant and/or has not had the opportunity to be exposed. I encourage all our fine friends here to take a moment, stop bitching at each other, and get educated. THIS is the future drivet if what will take US soccer to a better global level in the next 5-10 years.
American Futsal Academy... we played them last year at the NJ States at Rutgers. We put together a team and practiced once. Beat both of their teams and won the tournament. Futsal is futsal.
To 1:24 Must be a Marlton parent. Let;s get, real not diminishing them, let's get real?? These are the Barca youth teams playing. They have a world wide scouting network ever hear of Messi, Ineista, Xavi, Pique Jordi Alba, Ect. they came out of these youth teams. We don't stand a chance here in the US they don't play to win they play to learn the Barca way with ball possession and precision passing. Also Futsal is the best learning tool for young players Barca has a pro Futsal team in Europe. Did you notice how much fun they were having while playing.
This is youth soccer, they are all having fun and please get this through your head......no one of these kids will make more money in soccer then any HS graduate.
April 3 12:56 and 1:03. ... Your point is completely accurate about FC Barcelona being a benchmark of success and developing their style at the youth level, but this goal highlight video is not the best example as 1:03 points out. It's just showing goals! Try the following full game video of U10s (yes 4 years younger than your boys) and compare how they handle and pass the ball.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_MmQAHp1R4
Pretty scary stuff but, these are all videos of the Barca Academy which isn't a fair comparison. Doesn't mean we can't try to do better in our own way though.
That comment above is correct. You live in a developed country with other developed sports. Why do you think we are always debating what it will take for US Soccer to be better? If a kid really wants to get ahead his best bet is to get an advanced education. Somewhere there is another board where the commenters are laughing because they know the real sport is get into Harvard, Stanford, MIT etc. Take that opportunity away from our kids and give the truly special players a realistic chance to make the same millions they can make in the NBA, MLB, or NFL and American soccer will improve quickly. Until then, have fun and be thankful your kids have a brighter future than pro soccer.
The ability to be able to string consecutive passes together consistently is paramount to control possession. The ability to control possession will then allow a team to control their opponent. When a team can control the opponent they can control the game and the outcome. In order to do this each player on the team must have technical ability and individual skill and collectively will enable a team to play a style that is technically sound.
I see the blog admin removed the comment about how futsal is not a good training tool, Barca does not have a great youth system, and possession is not important. I guess even he thought the comment was so silly it had to be removed.
So we play Marlton and expect to see what we read about, we did. They really do push the ball to one player and they did seem to really try and defend more than score unless they have too. They have some talented kids but the style is strange. 2-2 tie was NOT what they thought they were going to get.
This entire site was originally built on the dominance of NJX. Well, have the times changed. Lost to Parsippany 6-1, and it really was not that close. How is it possible that NJX could fall so far? It just does not seem possible that they can be this bad. I would guess that it will only get worse, no half way decent player will stay on this team.

1 – 200 of 1099 Newer› Newest»NJ Force dominated play in each of their games. They just couldn't score.
Problem with Force is the coaching and a few parents. Some really good talent on the field.
Maybe the coaching..?? Maybe they need some new motivation?? The scores were close so i'm assuming the games were competitive.
Force is coming up on their 1 year anniversary of earning a point in a tournament. This doesnt show advancement at all.
NJF = Talented young team with a bench that’s two maybe three kids deep which is a problem when you play a tough schedule. Correcting the bench depth and selfishness of your players will go along way. Good luck in the jr state cup.
Enough of the Force, please. Earn a victory in a tournament that actually has competition and we can discuss then.
Not much movement in the NJ rankings after the Manhattan tournament. What happend?
What NJ teams played?
Manhattan Tournament
1: SPRINGFIELD SYC SYC STRIKERS BLUE (VA)
2: EVERTON AMERICA CT U14 BOYS REGIONAL (CT)
3: NEW YORK SC B98 (NYE)
4: SDFC RANGERS (NJ)
Rangers did not fair well in this one coming in last place. Didn’t see any of these games but the GF vs. GA tells me they were in every game.
1: SHORELINE FC LIVERPOOL (CT)
2: MORRIS UNITED STA GUNNERS RED (NJ)
3: BW GOTSCHEE 98 (NYE)
4: BALTIMORE BAYS BLUES (MD)
Gunners didn’t have a bad showing but when you can’t put more than 1 on the board it’s tough to win in the upper brackets.
1: HBC UNITED (NYE)
2: AUBURNDALE BAYSIDE AV JUNIOR (NYE)
3: CONNECTICUT FC CFC AZUL (CT)
4: NJ STALLIONS ACADEMY 98/99 BOYS (NJ)
Again much of the same from NJ, not a lot of offense yields last place.
1: HUDSON UNITED FUTBOL KNIGHTS (NJ)
2: FC STARS OF MASSACHUSETTS UNITED 98/99 (MA)
Tie 3: JERSEY KNIGHTS GALACTICOS (NJ)
Tie 3: NEW JERSEY FORCE UNITED (NJ)
Hudson didn’t beat anyone elite but they got the job done and earned almost 3000pts moving up from 9 to 6. Let me also add they did a solid job in the DTS winter classic.
1: PRINCETON SA PREMIER 98/99 ORANGE (NJ)
2: EAST ISLIP SC REBELS (NYE)
3: WESTERN UNITED PIONEERS FC WESTERN UNITED PIONEERS WHITE (MA)
4: BALTIMORE BAYS BLUE LIONS (MD)
Weak bracket but Princeton doesn’t allow any goals which are nice to see. Big fish little pond.
Overall, why do you think there was such a weak performance from some of NJs top teams with regards to goals? It can’t all be coaching like most of the above think can it? I would love to hear your opinions of some of these other programs as I was a bit taken by the lack of overall offense.
At the top level you need to know how to finsh when you are in the scoring area. I saw some great opportunites missed. And on the other hand I saw some calm and lethal strickers that know how to finish.
Can someone please explain to me how Hudson United Futbol Knights play?
With a ball
Wasn't F.C Stars of Massachusetts an elite team that Hudson beat?
So, now we know Hudson only has 8 very good and talented players.
Now what ? Is it good enough to win?
Marlton is better then Hudson
Hudson is a rebuilding, rebranded team, & have much Latin talent & have 2 players up top that can finish.
Marlton is still better.
Is the Ironbound tournament still a go?
Easy pts for Stronghold or IB milan
Please keep on the scouting report..any weakness? are they fast, big, left footed...etc..
IB Tournament next weekend.
Stronghold beats IB in final.
Great job Marlton, keep it up!
MARLTON had a great weekend, deserves to be called top team.
Marlton won their games, that they did. Lets take a closer look before your heads dont fit into your cars.
Beat Richmond #80 region
Beat Ohio # 323 in a poor region 2
Beat East Meadow #67 in region
Beat BRYC #148 in the region
Marlton did win, so they are the best of the mediocre teams.
Marlton is hard to watch. One of their strikers falls down every time he loses the ball while begging the ref for a whistle. I watched one game where he fell 8 or 10 times while not one other player was on the ground the entire game.
A decent team, but that tactic destroys any credibility.
Still kicked a** this weekend! Marlton will shock a lot of people in the NJ Cup.
Marlton Racked up some gotsoccer points too!
Winning tournament= points
Beating top 200 teams= points
Great way to start Spring. Be a wonderful team over the summer and for Fall to add an impact player or two. A power House in the Fall and less then $1200 a year.No extras.
Top 200 in the country, not top 200 in the region gets points you beat no one
NJ Force, Hudson, Marlton, all tooting their own horns quite a bit lateley. I hope they play one another.
They should. All very teams that have had recent success. All top 10.
Force is just plain out booty thats why Hudson beat them ! Hudson is a good team won the state cup and regional and went to nationals ! Yesterday they beat SDFC #1 in NJ that is questioned !
Booty??
Won the State Cup???
Beat SDFC, where?
US Club State cup. Ok . Let's see how well you do in EDP. You have Marlboro and Marlton on your schedule. And Marlton has claimed to be better then Hudson.
Beat SDFC? Where?
Do u mean the lower state cup? Seriously you are bragging about beating teams that would lose by 8 if they played a top team
Look at the powerhouse teams Marlton defeated to win the NIT State Cup
Washington Twp
North Hunterdon
Stronghold B Team
Americas
Westfield
I now see why they are bragging.
Stumbled at 4:46am?
Ironbound tournament, may as well just go right to the finals with SSC and IB United, no other team has a chance.
Ssc falcons tied 2-2 Virginia Royal #1 team in the country at Jefferson cup
Did not know so many people have been watching the Marlton games and are experts. That's cool. Guess there is some interest for some reason.
about the northern VA team that SSC tied recently. they were at Lou Ramos back in the fall and are definitely a very good team, but the idea of any U14 team having a meaningful national ranking is comical.
MLS? Monitoring?.......who cares?...with a starting salary of $45,000, your son is better-off in college.
BOCA baby!!!! Told u so
the point of the long-winded MLS/ Fox soccer joke is . . . ?
Good thing thing is he can read in English.
Great job BOCA keep up the good work
How many players would make it to DA team that currently play in our TOP 10 teams in NJ?
EDP Tip program has a u14 team involved in the Dallas Cup. I wonder who's in it?
Does anyone know?
Howell beat SDFC badly- enough to be counted as a top 10 for rest of year.
Howell lost to BOCA, so now what?
"How many players would make it to DA team that currently play in our TOP 10 teams in NJ?"
Not a calcuable number. I know of DA players on PDA, NJSA, MF (not RB) that would not be a starter or major contributer on my son's team. That doesnt say much either, but it is a fact that I could take 2 players from each of the top 10 teams and field a team that will compete/beat the academy teams.
SMC beat Southampton? Is this a misprint?
Agree with 1:55PM post.
Now would the players on a club team be ovelooked because they are on club team? National pool / college?
NO
Yes, based on contacts
I think Southampton forfeited their 3rd place game. If so, what a disgrace.
EDP Squad at Dallas is a 99's squad with a mixture of U13's and U14's from the region from CT, PA, NY, DE and NJ.
Southampton did not want to play the 3rd place game. Poor sports from what I heard from officials on the sideline.
2-0 is the forfeit score at the tourney.
Nice work tonight Marlton -- first round win against NJSA.
well I guess Marlton U-14 is starting to look like they ARE the real deal.
NJSA is a combination of players that other teams didn't want. So previous poster free is your answer.....academies not all they think they are.
Southampton should be banned from all maps tournaments
IB SSC turf war, news at 11
Just want to tell Marlton that they played a great game battling through the conditions and getting the win that they deserved.
Finals? Finals of what? You beat a subpar NJSA team.
All of this talk about Marlton, when BOCA was the real winner this weekend.
If 2nd place floats your BOCA then ok you are the real winner. Nice wins against Howell and Southampton but lets not go crazy here. Southampton may have already thrown in the towel before they decided not to literally not show up in their 3rd place game. (provided previous reports are valid)
What happened to one and done for all the haters out there im not from mralton but they are the real deal yes i said it.
Stupid.
BOCA dad you seem a bit out of reality and maybe even a bit creepy.
A prior post stated
"If I could put one opening round game on PPV it would be Ridgefield vs.
Just being honest and polite. Creepy? I'm sorry...do I need to be arrogant and negative to add insight on this blog?
Honest? You can't possibly think your team is the best out there So much for honesty
about the IB-SSC Lambeau field-like weather conditions comment--I'm not dissing the NJIT turf AT ALL. it's a great venue, and I happen to think the tournament overall was run quite well.
No one needs to prove anything to you. Teams change on a yearly, midyearly basis. If a team wants to compete with the best, let them.
good luck with that way of thinking
No luck needed, just an application.
NJ Cup - Boca vs Howell is the big match-up to look forward to? Looks like BU14 has now officially devolved into the Ft Dix summer league.
First round idiot
If everyone likes the kick and run style of play I can see why so many are talking about Marlton, Marlboro, Howell, NJ Force and Boca. I have watched all of these teams play not one of these clubs can string 10+ passes together on the ground and control the game. The common denominator that all the above mentioned teams have is get the ball up to the fast and athletic forward and see what he can do with it.
Focus on Development and not the final score!
Force, BOCA, marlton yes these teams are talked about. Marlboro and Howell have been quiet for a loooong time.
The 2nd half for Hudson... maybe they ran out of steem? or maybe Marlton just wanted it more at the end?
homefield advantage??
home field advantage what? what is that supposed to mean
i really dont understand how marlton didnt beat anyone elite.. beat stronghold 1 0 tied marlboro 1 1 beat howell 3 0 and beat force 2 1 in the same tournament to win it all... look it up the facts are there it was the marlboro tournament so all u dads and coaches that are losers cause they lost to marlton can keep crying themselves to bed on this blog
Way too much Chest Thumping from you Marlton parents.
Christopher, don't I'd yourself on this blog. Better yet, don't read this blog. It is idiotic. Play soccer. Have fun.
PDA Union 98s’
New Jersey Force United vs. Rancocas Valley Premier
Hudson United Futbol Knights vs. Torpedoes
Den of Lions Eagles vs. Wayne SC Destroyers
Any takers?
Hats off to Christopher and his Hudson team. The only person to ID himself. I would trust his comments 100% more than anyonelse.
Keep us updated on your true opinions on soccer and any games you feel like putting an opinion on . From a players view.
Good Luck! Thanks for bringing some light to this blog.
Thank you ^ wish me luck on my state cup game tmmrw vs torpedoes, I will keep you updated.
I'm really excited about the Vernon Vipers v Us Parma Furia game. Should be quite a battle. Not to mention EP Barca vs Morris B team.
Hey Christopher tell your coach to put you in the correct flight of the state cup. I guess he doesn't think too highly of your team.
What team do you support and cheer for? Do you have the soccerballs to identify yourself? Christopher don't mind this child blogger playing mind games. His sons team probably lost against yours. Good luck this weekend. Signed: IP address south jersey blogger.
Anyone has any EDP results?
Impressive win by Hudson over a quality team with some real nice wins under their belt.
Huh?
Quality win? You can't be serious. That Torpedoe team is beyond aweful.
What top 10 NJ teams would dominate in Futsal? What teams have the foot skills to play in small spaces? Who is the kick and run teams out there?
Is Futsal a great training for outdoor play?
Does EDP teams make it to the NPL championship? What's the process? The top team of each group?
SSC won futsal regional last year at wildwood. They have several highly skilled individuals , and they used a couple good guest players from delco.
SSC is so good that they used Delco players.
Marlton has some great players but they dont have a futsal team... i believe there are 4 good players on marlton for futsal and outdoors
Don't think SSC won the regional tournament in wildwood. Two Maryland teams were in the championship. SSC was very good though.
Why would SSC use DELCO guest players? Futsal is 5v5. No trust in their own players from their roster?
Would love to see the top 4-8 teams in NJ play a futsal tournament.
It would show which teams have the actual footskills and creativity to develop in a soccer force in the future.
Sorry...Kick and run doesnt work in futsal.
Good luck with your futsal scholarship
I disagree because from what I see the NJF coach has his team in all the top tournaments and overall the team is challenged plenty.
That is true, but he failed them with the NJ Cup. Dont worry, you will still be able to market the State Cup Championship and your relatives wont know any difference.
Only if Hudson wins!!
Force will be fine. Have proven everyone wrong by now.
Why is Marlboro lumped with Howell and marlton. I have seen them play 3 or 4 times and they move the ball as well as SDFC or ssc
PDA moves it well but they forget to shoot. Ironbound is solid
Marlton kick and run
Howell kick and run
All other top teams are also, but they try to connect on passes
Ouch!
True. If u r not talked about that says something. If u have to talk about yourself that says something
Marlton defends 10 and attacks only with kick and run
SSC has the best futsal teams in NJ at this age group..
Howell has the best curling teams in NJ. Enough of your futsal bs.
Curling will be a good future sport for those boys in the kick and run teams...

Not the the big kid up as forward
to slam the ball in.
These teams would take apart any team here in the US.
http://www.fcbarcelona.com/football/formative/detail/article/easter-week-with-best-goals-in-formative-football
No kick and run? You may want to watch the video again.
1st goal started with a long cross
2nd goal started with a long ball
3rd goal some really nice passing
4th goal long ball then a kid ran 40 yards with the ball
5th goal 1 kid dribbled straight to the goal
not diminishing what these kids are doing, I am sure they are all very good, but lets get real.
Said SSC
You got 3 out of 4 right. Wait...many of the people you are talking to here are jacka$$es. Make that 4 out of 5.
Mls coach comment you must be a marlton parent. You have to pass to try to score goals. Soccer is the ultimate team sport..
The above makes sense.
If more teams had that ability their would be less kick and run.
BOCA shows PDA how to win without whining. PDA parents if you want to complain do it quietly
I see the blog admin removed the comment about how futsal is not a good training tool, Barca does not have a great youth system, and possession is not important. I guess even he thought the comment was so silly it had to be removed.
Congrats to Millburn, great effort. Yes, lost to SSC 2-1, but remember Millburn wasnt "good" enough to be in this flight.
